Walt

Thank Dr. for the fresh kitty litter. Let me start this new show on the local level.
Now that free ECO bucks to fight a plan to reopen a rich gold deposit right here will be harder to come by, chances are better our Idaho Maryland Mine can bring jobs, GOOD jobs, back here.
The mines here didn't close because the gold played out. Thank the FED government for that. One, they fixed the price of gold, and two, only war metals were to be extracted.
Like togston. So when the war was over, the GOV. left us high and dry, and out of work.
Then the ECO pricks showed up and killed of the logging industry.

Bill Tozer

In regard to Dr. Rebane's introduction to the fresh Sandbox, this quote puts it perspective.

"Success is never final; failure is never fatal; the only thing that counts is courage.

I have always looked at Trump and our counterrevolution to the Altl-left's ongoing Revolution as merely slowing it down by throwing a couple roadblocks in the way. I still think the overall trajectory is toward Statism, Stalinism, Maoism, or Islamofacism.

With that said, another quote:

"To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth. --- Teddy Roosevelt

Locally, the Great Divide is alive and well. The progressive snowflakes promise us that their liberal Mayberry RFD will be solid Blue in two years. Mark the tape!

"To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth". -- Teddy Roosevelt

This looked fishy to me; after all, that Roosevelt was a "Progressive" before it became a euphemism for democratic Socialist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Party_(United_States,_1912)#/media/File:TR-Chemist-1912.JPG

Snopes got it right this time: FALSE.

Walt

We all have heard that LIBS with full diapers wants Ca. to become it's own country.
With that said, if it does, LIBS will never win another election nationally. Just say'n.

On another note, Gov. Moonbat has declared war on the Trump Admin. Good luck with that.
So Jerry and his kids is looking for ways NOT to send money to the FED Gov. That loos lie a fight they will lose. But it will be fun to watch. Calif. officials getting hauled away in cuffs on FED charges. Lets set up the bleachers on the West lawn of the state capital, and sell tickets.

Bill Tozer

Gregory

Good one. Tells me my gut is working cause I wanted to delete the Teddy Roosevelt from the copy and paste, but I hit post too quickly. Told myself to, but noooo. The first quote I did take the time to research back to a dentist in 1912 or so, with parts of it dating back further. Churchill and Buckley quoted the first quote, all or in part. All that to say I got lazy on the second quote and hit send. Did not sound like Teddy to put things as left/right. Agreed. Still, the TR quote stands on its merit, regardless on the source, as our running dialogues with those stuck on stupid....er...stuck in the bubble with testify.

Todd Juvinall

Looks like a Federal Judge has issued a stay on Trump's immigation EO. Aw those Judges,

Walt

Todd. To be fair,, these people had valid visas.

Todd Juvinall

Well OK, if they are legal then I have no problem.

Just finished watching the CSPAN telecast of the people debating for the DNC Chair. My goodness, we are going to own the politics of America if any of those fools gets elected.

Bill Tozer

Walt, I hope CA splits off. I will gladly move on. We have something like 12% of the population and 30% of the entire nation's welfare recipients. They can have their liberal playground. Heard Brown is raising the gas tax again, this time 42% to cover.....drumroll please....pension shortages. One of these days a gas tax will go for fixing the roads. With CA's expansion of Medi-Cal, CA will have to pay 100% of the costs instead of the current 90%. When they split off into the ocean. Opps, CA Medi-Cal budget is already in the hole a billion this year. That is with the 15 billion Uncle Sam already paid for the year.

CA welcomes illegals with open arms. We see the guy out working here as a painter or landscaper. That's cool. But, what about his wife and baby waiting at home drawing food stamps and entitlements? Let' CA breakoff and reimburse the Feds for their share of building our freeways before driving on them. Oh, Californians will need a VISA to visit Tahoe National Park or Reno. Best built a wall around the former state to keep all the rift-raff out. It's for National Security.

We have idiots running this state. Remember, only 3 more years until we have to meet our 1990 carbon footprint.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/infrastructure-lessons-from-the-california-high-speed-rail-fiasco/article/2612379

Don Bessee

Todd 620- Which federal district? I would be interested in the legal theory since the law on this is clearly in the Presidents powers. ;-)

Don Bessee

Walt 624- A visa issued by 0 without proper vetting still does not cut it from a national security standpoint. They should have listened to what the Prez said and reacted accordingly. They knew it was going to change after the inauguration. It does not pay to bet against the President. ;-)

Walt

"IF" Ca. does break away, and continues to allow anyone to vote unchecked, watch how fast Ca. becomes part of Mexico. Mexico has always wanted this real estate back.
I'm sure the rest of the nation will allow the State of Jefferson to stay. The only sane part of the state.

Todd Juvinall

Don 635, don't know. Heard it on FOX, Judge Jeanine.

Oh and the DNCers running fr chair. One very large gal, African American, a FOX contributor for the last seven years said all those other FOX people were liars. I wonder if she will be booted or promoted? You cannot make this stuff up.

Walt

Well Don,, those papers are still valid, or did I miss something?

Don Bessee

The federal judge from the eastern district of NY who was appointed by 0 last year agrees with you Walt. It is a narrow stay only applying to the visa holders. It does nothing to the rest of the immigrations executive order. You can bet DOJ or Homeland lawyers are already shopping for a venue to file their appeal that has a high likelihood of winning. ;-)

Walt

Where did Paul go? Emergency drum circle?

Don Bessee

PE has nothing new left from his talking points for lefties to offer anymore or there is druid orgy tonight? The visa stay only applies to the ones on the ground in the US today, so in reality its just a handful, 2 in NY I believe. ;-)

Paul Emery

George

It was well discussed on this blog that Trump does not represent tne Republican party but a 3rd Party movement. I believe that it was Bill that led that discussion so yes, Trump does represent the end of the Republican party as we have known it .

Re Don 3:19 When I referred to a movement to the blue in Nevada County that I have never seen before I'll use as examples the 60-40 defeat of Measure W, the landslide win of Heidi Hall over a respectable and qualified candidate Duane Strauser, the
Win of Clinton over Trump in Nevada County and the win of Measure 64.

Paul Emery

Does this entry ban from the 7 countries also include Christian refuges ?

Don Bessee

Thanks for making my point @ 659 PE. ;-)

ScenesFromTheApocalypse

"Does this entry ban from the 7 countries also include Christian refuges ?"

I believe so, not that it makes much difference to them. From Newsweek:

"But the numbers tell a different story: The United States has accepted 10,801 Syrian refugees, of whom 56 are Christian. Not 56 percent; 56 total, out of 10,801. That is to say, one-half of 1 percent. The BBC says that 10 percent of all Syrians are Christian, which would mean 2.2 million Christians."

Paul Emery

What was your point Don?

Paul Emery

Is it this?

"That's funny PE, looks like the same old same old in NC"

Might I remind you that District1hadNateBeeson for the last 12 years. Nate is hardly a blue.

Don Bessee

HI PE! You still need fresh material my friend. ==== Now this is not a joke-- The taxi cab drivers of NY have declared a strike to show solidarity with the immigration protesters. Uber stock up in overseas trading. ;-)

Paul Emery

Don

I know it's a little hard for you but since we were talking about the Idaho-Maryland Mine there is little doubt that the future looks grim due to the blueness of Nevada County.

Paul Emery

And oh yeah Don Nevada City will soon have medical marijuana dispensaries with the planning commission voting 4-0 to recommend to the City Council. It will be a slam dunk for the Council. Grass Valley is likely to follow.

George Rebane

PaulE 728pm - Ah yes, onto that big stack of Republican demise predictions we now add the latest. Is there a word in the King's English that means 'infinite hubris'?

Walt

Paul ain't as libertarian as he claims. True Progy Blue. Pro stoner, and anti economic progress, with a dose of "by any means necessary" (lie through the teeth) to accomplish that end. He gives the State of Jefferson backers crap, yet now sounds pro Calif. session
for the new state of Prog. The Kalif. can take in all the Muslims and illegals from the four corners of the globe it wants. That should work out swell.

Todd Juvinall

Hey remember the limo that was burned to a crisp during the lib riots last week? Well it belonged to a muslim democrat! $70,000. Yu cannot make this stuff up!

Paul Emery is not reliable when it comes to predictions. He was all about defeating Trump. And look how that turned out.

Paul Emery

George

I was just following Bills lead on that one(third party). You didn't respond to him about his view so I assumed you concurred with him.. The is no doubt as to the direction Nev County is heading. The conversation was relevant because of the mine discussion.

Paul Emery

I sure called it locally Todd. You were whiffed in Nevada County. that's my main interest anyway.

Walt

I've always given the State of Jefferson their due. Show me one time I spoke against the effort. Ask my friend Eddie Garcia about that.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery say what? You got one lib elected over a fellow democrat. Not one R ran for District One. I say you are really dreaming. And you were relentless here on Trump so that ios a lie too. We have three on the BOS, a majority on GV's council, most of the other fire, school and NID are R's. I'd ay your summation was as accurate as your Trump defeat prediction. And if you are so concerned locally, why wqere you absent at the Dollar General hearing.

Walt

I'm sure the new mine owners have war plans in the works to deal with the Paulites, and local wildlife.
Buy the time the games begin, the state will be so broke because of their defiance and FED law breaking, any new taxables will be more than appreciated.
Now to wait and see what the "tough love" will turn out to be by the Trump Admin.

Todd Juvinall

Here is the link to the story on the hold on the EO from Trump on immigration. I wonder who appointed the Judge?

Paul @ 7:37 pm

As far as I can tell, yes on the ban applying to all from the 7 countries, including one Christian being held.
All from the 7 countries, including those with green cards and Visas trying to enter. There are exceptions for NATO employees, foreign gov't personnel, UN personnel, and those vital to our national security interests. Far as I can tell, there are about 200 in question who were in flight or boarded a flight after the temporary moratorium was imposed. Some foreign airports did not get the word or started rejecting those boarding planes from the 7 named countries hours after the ban. Thus the confusion.

Those here before the temp ban do not have to leave. A glitch in the plan, affecting those caught between one door open and another door closing. To repeat, this temp ban applies to all non US citizens from 7 countries, including those of all faiths and those who have no faith. Country of origin is the operating phrase.

Paul Emery

Oh yeah

Trump has fallen in the Gallup daily tracking polls from even to -8 in six days. A very bad week for him. In the same poll Obama ended up +22 in his final poll. This is the most consistent poll in history and has been going daily since Kennedy.

From Todd's 9:21pm

"Under Trump's order, it had appeared that an untold number of foreign-born U.S. residents now traveling outside the U.S. could be stuck overseas for at least 90 days even though they held permanent residency "green cards" or other visas. However, an official with the Department of Homeland Security said Saturday night that no green-card holders from the seven countries cited in Trump's order had been prevented from entering the U.S"

Well, I am confused now about green card holders. Just those with Visas? Think I will wait a couple of days for more clarity.
Why don't the refugees go to Germany? It's closer. Looks like there is some confusion among Germany's new refugees as well.

"This is the most consistent poll in history" Paul Emery

That sounds like BS to me. Evidence?

Perhaps it's consistently wrong, or consistently "Progressive"?

Don Bessee

OH NO! PE says President Trump is trailing in the polls. How long have we had to listen to that faux news from PE? God love ya PE, I feel your pain. ;-)

Gregory

I was thrown by the web site with the info... here it is from the horses mouth
http://www.gallup.com/poll/201617/gallup-daily-trump-job-approval.aspx

Rasmussen doesn't agree... RCP identifies Rasmussen as a likely voters poll, and the Gallup as all respondents.

Obama had an opposition wanting a united country and also a friendly press; Trump has an opposition (including the press) who want a do-over. Now.

4 years is the wait, kids. Elections have consequences.

PaulE 906pm - a little application of reason quickly shows that anyone starting a third party does not mean that an existing party then automatically folds its tent as stated in your 728pm. And whether Trump winds up starting a third party or not is a totally separate discussion. I consider it a highly unlikely event, but a discussion of its harbingers would be of interest.

Finally, my thoughts on our political landscape populated by more than two dominant parties is well documented in these pages and hashed over even more.

Todd Juvinall

The SacBee has a article on gerrymandering today in the main section. I wonder where in our Constitution is says a state has to clear the issue with the Feds? I guess it must be in there somewhere? Anyway, the story did say both parties are under scrutiny. But I thought State's Rights were in force. They say all these R victories must be from a gerrymandered plan.

That would be the Equal Protection clause Mr. Juvinall as decided in numerous SCOTUS cases.

Don Bessee

I see the Dark Lord of Liberal Lament Land still has no sense of humor. ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Sorry Frisch I am all about the the Constitution and it is nowhere to be found in the document. It is their interpretation. No enumerated right in there.

Todd Juvinall

It is my hope the SCOTUS regains its mind and stops forcing their Commerce Clause crapola on the States.

Paul Emery

Don

Don't worry I'll give you a daily (almost) review on the fall of Donald Trump. The rise already happened. To have poll numbers this low at the beginning of a Presidency is unprecedented. You can ignore it but you'd better believe the Republicans up for re-election in a short two years will watch it like a hawk.

Todd Juvinall

You mean like what happened to the democrat party under the high poll numbers of Obama in 2010 and 12 and 14 and 16? OK, got it.

Bill Tozer

Well, finally this Executive Order thing is waking up our sleeping leftist brethren from the dark shadows of their seedy alleyways. Guess they were sleep walking the last four years or something. Don Bessee

PE- You might want to look at where the R legislators come from, Trump country. Your gang is the one in trouble in the mid terms. You could reasonably expect at least half of the dems in Trump states to be out of work. That could make a filibuster proof Senate for us. Think how much mischief we will be up to in that scenario. ;-)

Don Bessee

It was hilarious that Chuckie Schumer was channeling John Bohner in his immigration press conference. ;-)

Paul Emery

Sure Don. What is your take on Trumps historic low approval numbers at this stage in his term? I'm interested on your spin on this. Also what is your view of the inevitable MMJ dispensaries in Nevada County?

Bill Tozer

Oh Don.

Are you saying that Paul living on our beautiful Left Coast abutting the Ocean Blue may be out of touch with the vast expanses of the USA? My, the silent red voters best keep their mouths shut and let PE get his hopes up and his confidence higher before the juggernaut grinds him to dust again. I like the silent quiet well mannered States where many of the 2018 Senators hail from. Some are DEMOs and even some RINOs in disguise.thrown into the mix.

Yo PE, you are right again. You will crush us in 2018 and regain the Senate for the Democrat Party....er...I mean for all the independents and Green Libertarians. We might as well throw down our plastic squirt guns and crawl back under the rocks from whence we came. Paul is 100% correct. After the 2018 elections, you can impeach Trump and let Pence control the reins. I can hardly wait. Oh goodie goodie gumdrops.

Meanwhile, some of us live in the here and now. Some of us, not all. :). Love ya Paul! Big butterfly kisses coming your way!

Sunday Morning Thought

Governor Brown promotes climate models as real science providing policy makers with a prediction of the future climate in California and the globe in 2100. Yet, even the IPCC reports that the climate models are incapable of predicting the future climate.

As the IPCC itself said (AR4 WG1): “we should recognise that we are dealing with a coupled nonlinear chaotic system, and therefore that the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.”.

If long term climate predictions are not possible, why are California's paying billions to stop something that is impossible to predict? Really? Why?

Well, you don't have to; fooling most people most of the time works out quite well as confirmed by most astute observers.) ...Trump knows this adage well and it was probably his personal campaign mantra.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery is grasping at straws. He predicted Trump would lose big and got his comeuppance by the voters. He has no creds on this. And who cares if Gallup polls him. Hell, they said they were never going to do those daily tracking polls on the Prez again so they too are just lamestream liars making fake news.

I could fill a thimble with your understanding of the Constitution.

First, all Constitutional rights are up for interpretation of some kind because we have judicial review, thus unless you want to go back and invalidate Marbury v. Madison, which would through the entire American legal system and all decisions since 1802 into total turmoil, you are stuck with it.

Second, as I stated, it is the Equal Protection clause that guarantees equal representation, which is embedded in the 14th amendment--are you suggesting changing the Equal Protection Clause? If you are there is a process for that--amend the Constitution--otherwise we have case law that defines it and there ain't shit you can do about it.

Finally, the Commerce Clause is an enumerated power, it is right there in Article 1, Section 8, Clasue 3 of the Constitution.

"To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes.

Bill Tozer

Is Trump on the ballot in 2018? I know Obama said his policies were on the ballot in 2016. Looks like some voters wanted to go in another direction. Looks like they will elect people in 2018 to keep it that way. Too many counties out there in the hinterlands outside the Blue Wall of Resistance. You guys are all concentrated in 2-3 areas.. I could be wrong. Trump on the ballot in 2018? Learn something new every day.

Don Bessee

MT, ND, WI, MI, MO, IN, OH, PA, WV, VA AND FL are some of the dem Senate seats in 18'. How far do you think those guys are going to go in opposition to President Trump? ;-)

Walt

Speaking of that commerce clause, The Left coast states are pretty much violating it by denying coal export facilities. Soon the days of selective law enforcement is over.
Go ahead and bitch about Trump. He's only enforcing the laws on the books, and not writing law like "O" tried to do.

Don Bessee

We can expect the new team in DC will be compelling the ports to give access to the coal for export. Jobs, jobs, jobs. ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery they announced that before the election. Google it.

Frisch your understanding of the Constitution can fit on a pinhead. You really are ignorant and there seems to be no helping you. I would suggest you read the document, take some classes and stay away from the rum. You may come to realize I have way more smarts on this than you ever did.

Paul Emery

Good question Don. Remember off year elections generally favor the minority party. Look at 1994 and 2010 as prime examples. There is the question of buyers remorse. Also hasty weak legislation such as the AFA (affordable care act) take their toll. Obama started his first term with popular support something Trump does not have. To use my boxing analogy Trump is a slugger not a boxer. Sluggers have spectacular victories but usually have no defense and don't last long.

Todd Juvinall

I agree that if the people don't like what he is doing they may boot the R's from Congress. However, we gerrymandered it really tight so it may not happen. LOL. Just like the democrats do in California.

Don Bessee

The simple equation is those states that voted Trump liked his policy statements. He is delivering in his first week, which is a shock to the body politic. Being in opposition to the policies your state wanted is not a good way to win a Senatorial campaign. ;-)

Don Bessee

PE @ 1243- That's what you said a year and a half ago and he is the President in spite of your sooth saying that he had no endurance. ;-)

My, that post from you is remarkably short on any actual facts Todd--no quotes, no references to any articles or sections of the Constitution, no citations or references--just braggadocio.

Paul Emery

Continuing with my boxing analogies.

Obama was a master boxer with no punch who retired young. Bush was punch drunk and Clinton (Bill) was a boxer puncher who could really take a punch. He became pretty punchy is his later years. Hillary was neither a puncher or a boxer who twice showed she couldn't win the big one. She had great promotion but was overrated and had crooked management who couldn't prop her up when she faced a slugger.

Todd Juvinall

Frisch 1257. That is your opinion as a ignorant man. The other people here know what I am referring to. Bone up on the document and get back to us.

Todd Juvinall

Pelline is siding with open borders and chaos. Frisch too.

BradC

Don't let the protests get you down. They are all part of Trump's master plan,

"You know what solves [this]? When the economy crashes, when the country goes to total hell and everything is a disaster. Then you’ll have a, you know, you’ll have riots to go back to where we used to be when we were great." - Trump Feb. 10, 2014

Don Bessee

It was funny to see Chuckie Schumer go all snowflake and tear up. People just don't want to acknowledge that just because 0 issued a visa that the current Prez can still void it. Team 0 issued visas like tic tacs and would not even look at refugees social media so they wouldn't violate THEIR PRIVACY. Remember San Bernardino? There is no right to immigration despite what team lefty wants to advance as a talking point. ;-)

PE @ 101- What does that have to do with anything?

Todd Juvinall

The left is doing the rioting BradC. We on the right did not ever do that. Your ilk likes to break things and burn down their own homes and CVS pharmacies. We simply want you to leave us alone. But you can't.

BradC

At least Trump and Bannon are on the same page,

“I’m a Leninist,” Bannon proudly proclaimed.
Shocked, I asked him what he meant.
“Lenin,” he answered, “wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” - Bannon Nov. 12, 2013

Don Bessee

Which they did last November BC. The trifecta, President, Senate and House. ;-)

Don't Shoot the Messenger!

"...destroy all of today's establishment." Trump thinks riots are necessary for change and Bannon wants to destroy 'all' of it ...including the Republican Party. It is not the libs who want to see the demise of the Republican Party as we know it that GeorgeR refers to in his headline post - it Trump and Bannon.

Don Bessee

It only took a revolution of the little people who had been abandoned by the democrats identity politics. The establishment of the last 8 years is being flushed down the toilet of history, a legacy of executive action reversed by executive action. Who knew it would be so swift? ;-)

Well Don't shoot, looks like he took a page out of your Alinsky playbook,eh? It's a counterrevolution going down. And now we get to hold you to your values and throw rocks everytime you don't live up to them. Hyprocrite! Hyprocrite! That's what happens when you live off the cream of the big teat and get all soft like and lose the moral authority. You are hereby the Establishment Elitists. Our turn to stick it to Da Man. We be the common folk.
Burning down the house.

General Maddog Mattis does not like to called Maddog. Oh, he is good natured about it, but his troops informed me they call him The Warrior Monk just to rub it in your faces.

Love these "quotes" our LIBS dig up. You can bet they are taken WAY out of context, and re-jiggered to fit their needs. Well,, nothing new about that.

And already looking to the next election and betting on a win? LOL!! The freeloading LIBS that are filling their diapers in the streets today will be better off by then. Tough love works good.

Walt, I would not be the least surprised if he said it today, lol. Strap on tight, we are going back to the future all the way to the Eisenhower Days. Operation Overload. Listen to that bag of popcorn pop like crazy. Hope the bag don't burst out the side.

The next shoe to drop is the joint congressional resolution of disapproval, a simple majority vote will undo all of 0's regulations going back to May. Now that's some change we hoped for! ;-)

"O"'s "legacy" is getting scrapped one E.O. at a time. Live by the exec. Order, die by it.
LIBS lived by them for years. Then it was "we choose not to enforce these laws". Did they vote the laws away? Nope. "O" and Co. chose to ignore the Constitution. So much for upholding it. Just 103 more weeks to go, and more LIBS and RINOS get their walking papers.

Trump is taking a thrashing on Fox News today. Typical of sluggers who have no finesse is that they fall apart easily and thrash around swinging mindlessly at invisible opponents. Here's one of the more interesting examples:

For all of his anti-establishment rhetoric, President Trump’s stance toward immigrants and Muslims is more of the same. Orientalism and Manifest Destiny have long animated American foreign policy and domestic treatment of its racial and religious minorities.

Trump’s executive orders on Friday, effectively barring immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries, harks back to an era when holy wars were the currency for mass mobilization by the ruler.

In the eleventh century, for example, Pope Urban II called on his people to defend the Byzantine Empire from encroaching Muslim armies. What became known as the First Crusade in European history books solidified the image of Muslims as fanatical followers of a false religion and a threat to Christendom. Medieval romances and legends of battles between Christian and Muslim warriors nurtured the perception of a dangerous and violent Islam.............

So when Trump signed his executive order allowing only Christian refugees and barring “radical Islamic terrorists” from America, he was no different than other U.S. presidents before him. His War on Terror is merely the latest version of Christian holy wars that use fear to manipulate the public into cowering to their ruler’s mandates.

In that regard, Trump’s neo-Orientalism is the establishment.
