Ahhhhh, fresh kitty litter!

It was interesting to hear the FBI had to rely on a division of Google for details on the DNC hack since they were not allowed to actually inspect the servers in question. They relied on a report by the friends of madam liar liar pantsuits on fire. ;-)

Bill Tozer

Two points, both revealing the Alt-Left mindset, inspired by the torture of mentally disabled man in Chicago.

1). Only white people can be racists.

2). The Alt-left said Trump winning would lead to violence. They forgot to mention it would be coming from them.

Paul Emery

Looks like another example of a crazy person with gun. George, what are you ideas about how we can keep guns out of the hands of crazy people?

Bill Tozer

Hold your horses. It is not as it appears. It's Islamic Terrorisim.. Fake ID. Story is falling apart. Fake name. Fake story. Canadian Airlines say no one with that name was a passenger. Hold your horses. Whoa Nelly. More to be revealed.

fish

Looks like another example of a crazy person with gun. George, what are you ideas about how we can keep guns out of the hands of crazy people?

Well.....I suppose we could have you ask them lots of questions......that leads to other questions......that leads to other questions......that leads to other questions......that leads to still more questions.....until the urge to kill deserts them and they turn the gun on themselves!

Just spitballing here........

Scott Obermuller

Oh, here we go. Paul wants to know how we keep guns away from crazy people. As the newly self-appointed expert on libertarianism, I kinda thought Paul would have an idea or two. Instead, it's just the yapping poodle demanding that everyone answer his questions.
I've got a question for Paul - how do we keep anything that can be used to kill one or more people away from anyone who might now, or at some future date, decide to use said object for that very lethal purpose?
The more obvious question is how, as a free society, can we most efficiently equip our citizens with the means to stop crazies, terrorists and other sundry thugs and miscreants from wreaking havoc on innocent victims?
Yes, that is your Friday pop quiz.

Bill Tozer

Oh Scott, don't you know this is just an 'isolated incident'. Nothing to see here. Let's talk about recreational marijuana! :)

Scott Obermuller

While the left continues to try to deny us our Constitutional rights, they fabricate new ones out of thin air.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/california-must-pay-for-inmates-sex-change-judge-rules/
Lifers get elective plastic surgery on the public dime because of their 'constitutional rights'???
Oh yeah, I remember this 'right' being debated back in the 1700's.
Another reason to not live in Crazy-fornia.
Good grief.

Bill Tozer

Well, I suppose we can pick and chose which amendments we want to hold dear and follow, and which ones we wish to discard. That's how it works, right?

Preemptive Strike: Yes Paul, I agree with you. Sure, whatever you say....yes, whatever you say...I agree....my silence means I agree with you......sure, whatever you say....

Paul Emery

You mean Scott if I went to prison I could get a nose job? Always been self conscious about my beak. Just a simple little white collar crime might get me some easy time for couple months and I could get my nose remodeled. What a deal

Walt

Simple "jon"Paul. have everyone who has a legal right (not a felon or nuts) to carry, do so. There are people who are on the road right this minute who have no right to be behind the wheel. Watch the news tonight. I'm sure some drunk or someone without a licence will have killed someone.
Where is it written you have a "right" to drive a car?

Scott Obermuller

Paul at 3:39 - no Paul, you can't get a free nose job. Worrying about the size of your nose actually reveals anti-Semitic tendencies and would render you a bad person. You have to have a current politically correct problem that the tax payers will be made to pay for - in this case the male prisoner has a problem being a man. A white male, if you will. And goodness knows, white males are THE problem in the world. That's most likely the reason the killing was done in the first place. So - in order to fulfill his delusional fantasy, you tax payers have to pay up. If his fantasy was that he was Napoleon, it would be no go.
Of course, after all of the nips and tucks and snip snips, he's still a white male.
But darling, he looks ever so much better in his orange jump suit, don't you think?
Or don't you think?

Bill Tozer

Topic: How do we catch homegrown Islamic Terror Cells in this age of No Profiling?

Answer: seemingly unrelated bits of information from social media, electronic
payments, e-mail addresses, and other internet communications pieced together to form a picture. Dated article, but I am hitting it from the social media angle in this connected age and how LE is catching some of the bad guys. Article sheds light that Wa-Po and newsfeeds did not at the time .

Notice that the gun is pointed at the photographer in the pic. It's those little things I find enjoyable.

"And the reason is very, very obvious, which is that it has become exceptionally important to Democratic partisans to believe that the reason they lost this election is not because they chose a candidate who was corrupt and who was extremely disliked and who symbolized all of the worst failings of the Democratic Party. It’s extremely important to them not to face what is really a systemic collapse on the part of the Democratic Party as a political force in the United States, in the House, in the Senate, in state houses and governorships all over the country. And so, in order not to face any of that and have to confront their own failings, they instead want to focus everything on Vladimir Putin and Russia and insist that the reason they lost was because this big, bad dictator interfered in the election. And anyone who challenges or anyone who questions that instantly becomes not just their enemy, but now, according to their framework, someone who’s actually unpatriotic, that if you question the evidence, the sufficiency of the evidence to support this theory, that somehow your loyalties are suspect, that you’re not just a critic of the Democratic Party, you’re actually a stooge of or an agent of the Kremlin."

Looks like Greenwald is figuring out the MO of the libertarian par.......errr.......of the "progressive" left!

https://www.democracynow.org/2017/1/6/glenn_greenwald_democrats_eager_to_blame

Scott Obermuller

Thank you SFTA - good reading.
"We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency.
We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these
judgements."
Why - what better way to undermine Americans' confidence in the US democratic process than to show what the DNC was actually doing?
Was Bernie also guilty of the same exact thing by crying foul? The report is strangely silent on that point. Did they accuse Putin of spreading false information about the election or it's process or any of the candidates?
It appears that they claim that Putin wanted Trump to win. Certainly Obama has never in any way whatsoever shown any preference for any certain person to ascend to the highest office in any nation. Ever.
"...denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency."
Any number of folks have done that, including Obama.
Ah, but this was a foreign entity. And the US has never, ever tried to influence a foreign country's free elections. Ever. Except, of course, starting with Obama. But that's different.
If there is anyone out there in the WWW that thinks this would be an issue if Hilary had won, please let us know.
I have a moderately priced bridge to sell you. Cheap.
Just remember - the only reason you voted for Trump was because Putin put the whammy on you.
We know you really wanted to vote for Hillary.

George Rebane

fish 448pm - Stipulate that your citation is correct re the Democrats' loss (BTW, one that I agree with). Given that, why would anyone opposed to those losing leftwingers go to the trouble to dispute their self-destructive arguments - especially on these pages? Why don't we just let them wallow in their losing ways and, perhaps, even encourage them? Would it not serve the greater conservatarian purpose to have them learn nothing from this go around and then repeat their mistake the next time?

I submit that if you don't believe this, then we must conclude that our left-leaning commenters are indeed ropa-doping those of us who get worked up over their outrageous claims.

Walt

I hope everyone is ready for this wet weekend. It's gonna be a doozy.
If you don't have it, now would be a real good time to go "get it".

Walt

Scott. Our belligerent Left sure didn't have a problem with "O"and Co. messing with Israel's democratic processes...Nope, not one bit.(that's different)

Scott Obermuller

re George at 5:09 - Well, yes. But shhhh! I'm trying to unload a bridge.
The more I hear the Dems and the left (Kos Jones Slate etal) the more I know they will F up in the next election as well.
Their main talking point is that 'failed to make their case'.
Yep - that happens when the bridge collapses in the middle of your sales pitch.

Todd Juvinall

: George Rebane | 06 January 2017 at 05:09 PM

I think you said it best a long time ago. Because others read this blog and we must keep them informed. Allowing the lefty lies to stand with rebuttal is what got the country into the mess.

Walt

OK,,,,, so the "official" word is, "The ruskies did it". The vary same "officials" that couldn't find grounds to jail Hillary. Never mind the train load of public info to the contrary.(before the leaks) Even after the leaks. "nope, she's too big to jail".
Corruption of the FED gov. in just about every hall makes anything they say at this point in time suspect.

Bill Tozer

Saudi Arabia funded 20% of the I Am With Her Campain. Great Britain to New Zealand and about every Arab, European, and other nation on Earth (including their leaders and government officials) tried to influence the election for My Gal. Our neighbors to the north and south. Our President, First Lady, Vice President, Wall St, Silicone Valley, the MSM including the NYT, Hollywood, academia, and more all tried to influence the election for Hillary. Oh yeah, add The Pope and his millions of followers. Add most all the billionaires. Quite an assembly of the best, brightest, most powerful, most influential people and institutions on earth, including the full muscle and might of USA government and its institutions.

Now, are you saying one 2nd tier country name Russia influenced and swung the national election to Trump and out smarted every power on Earth? Hmmmm? Do you realize how ridiculous that agrument sounds?

The Alt-Left talks incessantly about why Hillary Coldclam Clinton lost. Reverse the question and ask yourselves why Donald J Trump (a totally crude unpredictable political novice) beat Hillary and all the King's horses and all the King's men???? I dare ya. Ask not why Hillary suffered the most embarrassing loss in US political history but ask why Trump won. But Trump is crazy!!! Yep, crazy like a fox.

The pundits said that Trump was the only Republican that could lose to Hillary and Hillary was the only Democrat that could lose to Trump.

I am not so sure. I think now that Trump was the only one that could beat Hillary as well as any and all Democrats and all Republicans. All of them. Sure, it didn't hurt that the nation rejected the Lefties and their message. Oh, their message got out alright. The voters gave it the thumbs down. Don't call us, we'll call you. Ask not how Trump won, but why Trump s officially as of today our President-elect.

Paul Emery

Todd

Do you understand the nature of classified material?

Paul Emery

Did you read the report Don?

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery, it appears you don't.

Don Bessee

PE- Did you stop beating your dog?

Walt

Definitely,, possibly,, maybe, doesn't add up to fact. We doc.s altered? NOPE.
Were the doc.s factual? YUP.
Is the DNC part of gov.? NOPE Were ballots screwed with by a foreign GOV.? NOPE.
Something the LIBS themselves would love to try and exploit? YUP.
Next time don't use "password" for your password.

Paul Emery

Walt

did the Russians intend to alter the result of our elections by providing this stolen information to Wikileaks-yep
Is Trump giving this the good ole 'Whatever" yep

Paul Emery

Would Trump have the same reaction if the players were reversed and Putin tried to tilt the election in Hillaries favor?

You answer that Walt.

Paul Emery

Anybody have aby ideas asto how we can respect 2nd Amendment Rights and still keep guns out of the hands of crazy people. George, any ideas?

Don Bessee

What PE willfully fails to comprehend is that there were a phalanx of groups trying to influence the election which is a world away from altering results, which did not happen. BBC, BLM, Soros, huffpo, NPR, NBC, NOW, Koch's, NYT and so on and so on as well as State actors through their own lap dog media hacks.

Doesn't look like anyone wants to play 50 questions with poor ol' PE. ;-)

Walt

Then I guess Russia has more respect for what America stands for than LIBS. Since the world revolves around the U.S., and didn't want to see a collapse of world trade, which would in turn plunge them into turmoil. After watching shit happen for the last 8 years, enough was enough. They knew full well Hillary would finish the job.
"O" and the left have decimated our military. Trump says he going to ramp up. Now why would the Russians want that? The Russians are kicking MidEast ass. That give THEM influence in the sandbox. Trump wants to go back guns blazing. Again Why would Russia screw up a good thing?
Hillary sold us out to Russia with uranium sales. Think Trump will try and rework that deal? Putin ain't that stupid.

Walt

Hay Paul. All the gun laws didn't stop three pavement ape felons from coming up here and knocking over a smoke shop.

Don Bessee

Now Walt, don't go confusing PE with logic, it does not fit his DNC narrative. ;-)

Paul Emery

So Walt are you agreeing that Putin tried to influence our elections for his own benifit?

Don Bessee

PE- Are you still hacking the DNC? ;-)

Walt

And just what benefit could that possibly be? O great Charnack, channel Putin and see what's in that KGB mind. (this should be good)
Putin would have Hillary suck... polishing he boots. in foreign affairs. Putin cold put the ol' band back together. The U.S.S.R rides again.Because Hillary and LIBS are yella'...
So tell us again why Putin would back someone who would be more than happy to give him a swift kick to the nuts?

Paul Emery

Walt, why did the Russian Assembly cheer when Trump won? Also the just released assessment has direct evidence that Trumps higher ups were doing hi fives after Trump won. Explain that to my feeble mind.

Walt

No dodging Paul. Just what damned benefit? You said this is one.

Don Bessee

PE is channeling Nancy Karagin again, WHHHHYYYY!? WHHHHYYY!? ;-)

Walt

Anyone, or know anyone who is off grid, or mostly, how their solar is keeping up?
The sun hasn't been out that much for a while.

George Rebane

PaulE 710pm - There are no quick solutions to crazies doing what they do, be it with guns, knives, or other implements or methods - that happens in countries and cities with the strictest gun laws. Here in America the Left focuses on gun confiscation because it knows that's how a free people most effectively stay free from the Leviathan of the elites (no A21 future as long as we have guns). And so as most of us today know, freedom is not free.

Paul, Mr Tozer's 607pm is an excellent summary of how other powers in the world attempted to sway Americans for Hillary. Your responding to that viz the Russians would most contribute to this discussion.

Paul Emery

Don't have a clue what you're talking about Don. Please translate

Walt

Ya' sure clammed up there Paul,, Lets hear those benefits you speak of.

Todd Juvinall

Paul has already told us he is doing the ropa-dope and all of us are falling for it.

Don Bessee

DR. R@ 801- Todays guy hearing voices telling him to join ISIS was interviewed by 0's PC FBI who again had a red flag interview and did nothing. Another visible result of 8 years of 0's neutering of LE. Oh well, he has not done anything yet and we don't want him to FEEL like we are profiling him, so let him go.
You have to wonder if anyone in the FBI process even discussed pulling the ISIS wanabe's gun license? :-0

Bill Tozer

Amazing how one man with no party backing him, no ground game, no machine, no script.....a man who for the first nine months of a campaign got all his polling by reading it in newspapers and not even hiring a pollster or focus group or opening up field offices............one 70 year old man with no experience, who never done anything like it before brought down a Political Machine more powerful, more financed, and bigger than any single political party in US history (the likes of which the USA has never seen) wth 30 years of preparation for this moment in time..........only to be reduced to rubble. Dust in the wind.

The only possible explanation is that enough Americans rose up in a populous rebellion and said "Enough!, we are tired of getting screwed, blued, and tattooed and we are taking OUR country back." "Done talking. No more next time. It's now or never."

Only possible explanation I can think of. Bigger than Trump for sure. Bigger than 1,000 Trumps. It was millions of nameless forgotten Americans holding their ground in the face of relentless waves of scorn and ridicule standing firm crying out "You are fired, go pound sand."

Yep, only conceivable explanation I can think of when you think of what one man standing alone on a stage accomplished. We did it. The wrecking ball had the name Deplorables written on it.....to add insult to injury. We so bad. :). Oh, the job ain't done yet. Not by a long shot.
Did Putin grab somebody's Paulssy? I keep hearing some background static.

Scott Obermuller

The poodle yips, the poodle yaps. Paul has become his own caricature. Just constantly pesters, has no answers of his own.
An amusing little whine. Let him be and let him continue his fun.
"So Walt are you agreeing that Putin tried to influence our elections for his own benifit? (sic)"
Gasp - you mean Putin does things for his own benefit? Why that desperately wicked so and so. Our Obama would never stoop to such a low state.
Total comedy.

Walt

Good ol' Paul BSed his way right into a corner. STAY TUNED for the next mystery episode of,,, Paul's Conspiracies,,,

Don Bessee

Todd @ 812- The rope a dope requires landing punches which PE is not doing, this is just PE doing dope. ;-)

Paul Emery

Bill re your 6:07 Kasick would have easily beat Clinton. Also Bernie would have easily beat Trump. Two very unappealing candidates either of which would ave been the least popular new President in modern history. The country was ready for a populist movement nd Trump provided what they were looking for.

Trump is ignoring the assessment of all our intelligence agencies saying he knows something they don't know-what the hell is that.

Also your screed on Hillary supporters is just words with no attempt at documentation. Give it a try and I might pay attention.

Walt

The all enlightened Paul taken down and bested. by a common ditch digger.(or what's left of one) That's what really chafes.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery, you are babbling. Go to bed.

Don Bessee

Com on folks, lets have a hand for the comic stylings of MR PE @ 836. ;-)

Paul Emery

Come on guys are you out of steam. Try to actually say something.
You've got your guy so enjoy yourself. By the way how is Trump going to get Mexico to pay for the wall? Another lie by Trump. Add it to the list.

Walt

OH.. Now he's on to the wall. I guess his proof of benefits for Putin is in the digital dust bin.

Here Paul take this new shovel. You did a fine job of digging a hole and burying yourself with the last one I gave you. That was fun. Lets see it again.

Russ

The Intelligent Community Report was a self-serving report with no proof, as it would reveal sources and methods. Or, it could reveal they have no smoking gun evidence of intent. I am voting for preserving sources and methods which are considerable. That leaves the question in the public minds why no smoking gun proof.

In reviewing the report, it is clear the Russian hacking and disinformation campaign has been going on for years. My question is why is it a big issue now when Government agencies are hacked and information stolen for the full eight years that the Obama administration was in charge of security? Why has the security been so lax? Why was it only important when the Democrats lost the election and not all the previous 90+ months of the Obama administration?

What is all the fuss about the Russian's trying to influence our election? Obama spent millions of taxpayer dollars to influence Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's election, sending some of his political team to advise the opposition to Netanyahu. Democratic double standards? It is OK for the US to do it, but not the Russians.

I like the ad running on the Internet. "I do not worry about being sued; I plan for it." For over eight years the Russia and other nation states have been hacking US agencies, you would think that the DNC and the other Democrats would have planned for it. It appears the FBI warned the DNC it was being targeted and they did nothing about increasing security. Only when their emails exposed who the Democrats are: crooked, homophobic, sexist, and just bad people did it matter.

Bill Tozer

"Give it a try and I might pay attention", ROFLMFUEO.
Really? Oh, I must get down right quick on the ground and thank myz lucky stars. Really, you might pay attention? Oh Masta, you so kind. Thank ya Masta, tank you Masta, tanks a rock. You be so benevolent. I am not worthy. I am so so so berry berry deplorable.

Er.....No thanks. I choose to disengage, but tanks anywho.

Don Bessee

PE @ 901- You are just steamed up my man.

The transition is going to use the 2006 boarder bill that was ignored to start the wall , a bill that even chief clown Schumer voted for as the foundation. There are other passed bills that just gathered dust under 0. They have already identified 4 billion to come from an earned income tax break for illegal alien kids, then there is taxing the massive remittances to Mexico, Central and South America. In some Central American countries the remittances represent as much as 15% of GDP.
Then they are going to cut off all federal monies to illegal alien programs and then throw in the money that wont go to sanctuary States and Cities.
That is a massive pile of cash PE, waaaay more than the projected 12 billion cost. ;-)

Gregory

"Come on guys are you out of steam. Try to actually say something."

Paul, you've been vamping the same 8 bars for the last year.

Don Bessee

PE is just mad he cant get make a pair of 2's and a pair of 5's into a straight flush. ;-)

Don Bessee

Oooopsie, omit get.

Bill Tozer

Trump lied? Oh my, I simply don't know what to do. Trump did not lie, he is just misunderstood.

George Rebane

Re the Intelligence Community's report - Yes, I have read it thoroughly and have taken notes which I will share with you tomorrow. Let me give you the high hard one as a preview - a careful read reveals the report makes neither mention nor claim that Russia's government or its agents did any hacking of anything or anybody. Did they publicize hacked emails obtained from Wikileaks, among others? Yes, but BFD. Did they favor Trump over Hillary? Yes, but again BFD. Bottom line, Russia has done nothing surreptitious or new during the 2016 election that they haven't been doing for years (decades if you consider the USSR). They are our (eternal?) enemy and will undermine us every chance they get, get used to it and quit hyperventilating, it unduly excites the double dummies among us - especially in the media, Fox News included. In the propaganda wars, we have done much worse to them, and even our putative allies.

Walt

Now what will the note "O" leaves Trump in the desk drawer have to say?
Any guesses? I'm going with "......and the horse your rode in on, and the dog that followed.".

Don Bessee

Knock, knock, PE, cat got your tongue on my 931? ;-)

Walt

It's lava lamp screen saver time for Paul.

Paul Emery

So Don I thought Mexico was going to pay for the wall. All you are saying is that he's gonna save money in other areas and use that to build the wall. Tell me hos MEXICO is goingto pay for the wall not diverting from other potential tax revenue.

Todd Juvinall

Headed to bed. Mexico will pay. Trump has already released all the ways they will you just have to do some homework.

Paul Emery

George

the report is very specific in many notations including this one. Explain why this is not a direct action on their pary

"Russia intelligence services conducted cyber operations against targets associated with the 2016 US presidential election, including targets associated with both major US political parties."

Bill Tozer

The Wall!! The Wall! It's da wall!

Paul is right. Trump lied. Trump just tweeted it is not going to be a wall. It's going to be an electric fence. Trump figures it will much more entertaining to watch than staring at a stupid wall. It's going to be terrific. It's going to be beautiful.

Why were the Commie Pinkos cheering when Hillary lost? I dunno. Maybe just drinking too much vodka or something after competing a hard assignment and heading home.

What an egotistical narcissistic we have for our next President This guy has the maturity of a 4th grader. Check this out

"President-elect Donald Trump hit his “Apprentice” replacement Arnold Schwarzenegger with a one-two punch Friday, tweeting that the new show “got ‘swamped’” in the ratings and slamming the former California governor for not supporting him during the 2016 election.

“Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got ‘swamped’ (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much for being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14,”

Trump, who is still an executive producer of the show, said in a series of tweets. “Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/trump-apprentice-arnold-schwarzenegger-233270

Bill Tozer

Yep, he is something else. I agree totally. Whatever you say, whatever you say. Need a shoulder to cry on?

Wall is simple. Each time you shit a brick, it's one more free brick in the wall. Opps, not you buddy. I meant the Trump haters and the liberals and the progressives. I was not referring to the independent enlightened libertarian thinkers.

At this rate Mexico will only have to pay for the mortar. There are some wetlands to figure out how to build across but Mr. President-elect Trump has that figured out. But the real major hurdle is those darn endangered species. Do think there are enough endangered liberals lounging in Grannie's basement to complete the project? Hard to say. Time will tell.

Gregory

Mexico is already pissing and moaning over Ford jobs that have been headed off at the border crossing... there are many ways to account for a few billion.

Paul will punch in one direction and then just change without tying off the argument he was losing, punching somewhere else. It's his way.

Paul Emery

Trump said Mexico will pay for the wall pure and simple.

Trump: Yeah, that’s her. With the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.

Bush: Whatever you want.

Trump: Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.

Bush: Uh, yeah, those legs, all I can see is the legs.

Trump: Oh, it looks good.

Still vamping, I see.

Rest assured George the left will continue to learn nothing.....Pelosi has already admitted as much! At the national level it's "democrat as usual"!

I submit that if you don't believe this, then we must conclude that our left-leaning commenters are indeed ropa-doping those of us who get worked up over their outrageous claims.

The only political thought he's been able to muster since the election is, "You don't crap where you eat"....I'm sure that looks good on the pamphlets! Of course he demands that you answerendless questions in order to secure his blessing of any political position that you hold.

Alinsky was correct in this.....the most potent weapon is ridicule! I come to mock, deride, and humiliate the idiot children of the left, not persuade. They are completely immune to reason and common sense.

I suppose we should be grateful that Paul is so ham fistedly obvious about it!

More Global Warming: The Frigid 48: U.S. Average Temperature 11 deg. F

The spatial average temperature over the Lower 48 at 6 a.m. is 11 deg. F, which is fully 9 deg. (!) colder than at any time last winter (20 deg. F) which occurred twice in January of 2016.

re Russ, at 7:43 - My outdoor reading was minus 8 this morning. We have record amount of snow on the ground here in the Treasure Valley in Idaho. Of course it's not a lot compared to what I remember in Nevada County but this is a desert, after all. The joke around here is that mother nature is trying to weed out the ex-Californians who can't take a little weather. Not a big deal here at Sage Hollow, but we know a few that just arrived this summer from Southern Kali. Boy howdy, are they in shock. Another 5 to 10 inches of snow on the way. Glad to hear Nevada County is getting pasted with a good old soaking. You folks need the water.
Ah yes - 'global warming' and 'the end of snow'.
It's all settled science - don't try to confuse us with reality.

Gregory's post @ 12::36am

The American people are opposed to the Wall as well. Majority don't want it or not hot on the idea. There are some sections that won't get the Wall in some mountainous regions if you listen carefully to some of Trump's statements a couple months ago.

No way to gauge how passionately one feels when they say they don't like the idea of the Wall from what I have read to date. I imagine there will be more protests and mayhem over the issue in places far far away from the bush rats. Few roach coaches out there.

So, the Wall will probably evolve into walled sections. Start with plugging the biggest holes in the dyke first. Expect a flurry of lawsuits from the Sierra Club over endangered the ring tailed desert bush rats and desert tortoises and subterranean land sharks.

Estimates are 12-18 billion. That includes the establishment and maintenance of uge desert sidewinder rattlesnake breeding facilitates and releasing the scaly ones in strategic areas in open areas along the border.

The Audubon Society has remained strangely quiet on the issue. :)

I invite your attention to this Joel Kotkin article in Real Clear Politics: California as Alt-America

In 1949 the historian Carey McWilliams defined California as the “the Great Exception” — a place so different from the rest of America as to seem almost a separate country. In the ensuing half-century, the Golden State became not so much exceptional but predictive of the rest of the nation: California’s approaches to public education, the environment, politics, community-building and lifestyle often became national standards, and even normative.

Today California is returning to its outlier roots, defying many of the political trends that define most of the country. Rather than adjust to changing conditions, the state seems determined to go it alone as a bastion of progressivism. Some Californians, going farther out on a limb, have proposed separating from the rest of the country entirely; a ballot measure on that proposition has been proposed for 2018.

[ooo]

In sharp contrast to the 1960s California governed by Jerry Brown’s great father, Pat, upward mobility is not particularly promising for the state’s majority Latino next generation. Not only are housing prices out of reach for all but a few, but the state’s public education system ranks 40th in the nation, behind New York, Texas and South Carolina. If California remains the technological leader, it is also becoming the harbinger of something else — a kind of feudal society divided by a rich elite and a larger poverty class, while the middle class either struggles or leaves town. . . .

Instead of a role model for the future, the Golden State seems likely to become a cross between Hawaii and Tijuana, a land for the aging rich and their servants.

Nevada County seems to be adopting the states blue model as young families are being priced out of the housing market and they move away closing schools. The homeless population continues to expand, creating growing demand for services and creating tourism backlash. Liberals from the coastal counties are cashing out and moving to Nevada County to escape the urban blight they created in the cities. . . . which is sure to follow as the County goes blue.

Russ 1011am - Good pick-up Russ. And it's most important to note the continuing Left/Right asymmetry. When those on the Right want to constitutionally establish a new state in the Union because their interests are not represented by the calcified and corrupt collectivists in Sacramento, then those people are vilified and denigrated by the Left as being everything from butt stupid to treasonous. Now that the Left has had its political ass kicked in national elections, California socialists are up in arms promoting a movement not only to illegally resist the federal government, but to actually secede from the Union as a sovereign nation-state. The latter is heralded as the ultimate expression of ideological virtue.

The big problem I see with the Great Wall of Mexico, a real, unbroken, physical barrier, is that there really are ground dwelling critters whose existence depends upon being able to move where the food is. Going where the climate suits their lack-of-clothes.

A real wall in many places and a virtual wall manned by aerial drones and terrestrial sensors elsewhere should be fine.

Almost as good would be governments top to bottom that stood behind the letter and spirit of the law as it now stands... the "Wall" stands mostly for the failure of that in recent decades. I remember as a child the PSAs reminding all *legal* aliens to check in with the Feds and remind them where you are. Was that really that onerous?

It's sad to see how much more of a sense of humor the Russians have than Progressives.

Some of my favorite Soviet humor of the Cold War:
"We pretend we work, and they pretend they pay us",

and

American: We have the right to criticize our President!
Soviet: We also have the right to criticize your President!

Then there's "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor!"

Are we still explaining to each other that 'the wall' was and has always denoted limiting the porosity of our border by whatever means are effective??

It would have rolled eyes had Trump started explaining border porosity that could be limited by various means that included the latest technologies and deployed as terrain dictated to limit total illegal ingress to X people per year (my number is X=15K/yr). You could have heard snoring from the back rows and low attendance at the next gathering. Words like 'WALL' and 'Mexico will pay for it' (rather than the multitude of payment-in-kind alternatives) have to make do while on the stump in the hustings.

George you write:

...a careful read reveals the report makes neither mention nor claim that Russia's government or its agents did any hacking of anything or anybody.

The report states specifically that they have evidence that the Russians did indeed hack DNC websites-included below. How do you arrive at your judgement quoted above which is quite contrary to the reports findings?

From the Report

We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US
presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process,
denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump.
We have high confidence in these judgments

Russian intelligence services conducted cyber operations against targets associated with the 2016 US presidential election, including targets associated with both major US political parties.

We assess with high confidence that Russian military intelligence (General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate or GRU) used the Guccifer 2.0 persona and DCLeaks.com to release US victim dataobtained in cyber operations publicly and in exclusives to media outlets and relayed material to WikiLeaks
