Hey GeorgeR I have been doing a back and forth with a fellow on the Union websites comments. Here is his latest. And how would you answer him?

"Stephen Holland · Works at Self Employed Freelance Musician
Toddd, I define socialism in the case of SS, or Medicare, or public education as systems that help all people, and that we all pay into. SS is indeed a form of democratic socialism (it was opposed by Republicans in Congress at the time for being just that.) SS taxes are paid into by all workers, and all workers receive benefits. Many workers pay much more in SS taxes than they receive in benefits, and others pay much less, but receive more, though not by much. Infrastructure is also paid with taxes and is a public good, a social good. Democratic socialism at work. This is not Marxist-Leninism, there is a profound diference. No one forces us to adopt this system except in the voting booth. And yes, I went to public schools, but I don't think I was terribly harmed by the experience. I will not denigrate you, your intelligence, or your educational background. I think we've said enough on this issue. I think Robert Bee is miguided, and I don't agree with you either, but it's a free country and we can agree to disagree."

Scott Obermuller

"Many workers pay much more in SS taxes than they receive in benefits, and others pay much less, but receive more, though not by much."
Wealth transfer at the point of the govt gun, pure and simple.
And it's going broke, but socialists don't care.
Medicare? The cost has already skyrocked well beyond what was predicted by it's backers. In the coming years its cost will beggar our govt.
"And yes, I went to public schools, but I don't think I was terribly harmed by the experience."
Wow- considering the enormous cost of that, you would think something better than not being harmed would be the outcome. Since Holland hasn't bothered to educate himself of the latest outcomes of the govt school system, he might want to realize the great harm to our kids that is being done.
"No one forces us to adopt this system except in the voting booth."
Ah yes - good ol democracy. Wherein the majority decide to have the govt take money from the minority and gift themselves the proceeds.
I seem to recall the voters in California deciding (in the voting booth) that there were times they didn't want their money taken at gun point to be given to criminals. And the left suddenly decided democracy was bad. Funny how democracy is only good when the left likes it.
Infrastructure is supposed to be paid for by everyone and to be used by everyone. As soon as infrastructure becomes a financial nightmare such as Brown's choo choo train (sold to the public on a pack of out right lies) that needs money from everyone in the country and only a relative handful of folks will ever use, then its not a beneficial public work.
Democratic socialism, however you want to dress it up, works great until you run out of other people's money. Ask Illinois.

George Rebane

ToddJ 450pm - I think that ScottO's 522pm responds very well. I could add to it, but these additions would be just marginal embellishments.

rl crabb

Yep, a safety net is just theft. There's still plenty of room in the woods for more destitute seniors, although it's kind of hard to push a wheelchair through the brush. Oh, that's right. There won't be any wheelchairs for those freeloaders.Suck it up.

Scott Obermuller

There we go - we want to push the granny in the wheel chair off the cliff.
So much for an adult discussion.
A society needs a certain amount of real value to be generated in order to compensate for all of the promises made to future generations.
You can't generate value by printing money or just taking from the haves forever. We are broke. We are living on a bunch of credit cards and paying off a little of what we owe with new credit cards.
It will end up like Venezuela. People will starve. People will die from lack of health care. It will not be pretty. Just because you might die before it happens doesn't absolve you from the blame for causing it by writing bad checks that won't be cashed until you're gone.
Why is it that people think America is magical and we don't have to learn from history?

Todd Juvinall

RL Crabb has really lost his grip on reality. My goodness I thought residue from that crap wore off.

Gregory

RL's blog is now an echo chamber, so he came here to fart one at the gipper.

Walt

Can Crabb say where all the money will come from when the current OPM tit has run dry?
Has he heard Moonbat lately? " Just raise taxes". Maybe Crabb can tell us just when enough is enough. Think 40% taxation will do? You may never see that, but what about your kids?
The "have nots" will always demand more from the "haves".

rl crabb

One side wants blanket coverage for everything under the sun and the other wants to take the blanket away. You seem to think that charity and the so-called free market will make up the shortfall since they don't have to pay taxes.
Seems to me neither side is working out too well. Chuck Durrett wants to build shelters that he claims he will do without govt. $$$, but he can't get the county to even free up a vacant lot to put them on.
Meanwhile the homeless population grows and ratchets up the fire danger in the driest part of the year. I remember the 49er fire. How much did that cost?

George Rebane

rlcrabb 1233pm - Bob, you again skittle back into the binary consciousness of the Left - it's either all this, or all of the opposite that. No one on the Right has ever wanted "to take the blanket away." That conceptual paradigm is only something that gives you and yours a simplistic comfort. And I believe that you don't need that kind of black/white ontology to interpret the world around you. In these pages we know (but apparently you don't) that we must somehow learn better ways to distribute wealth to those who can't generate enough on their own, ways that don't stifle the wealth creators so that we all wind up in a destitute dictatorship of which there are so many examples today. Your anecdote about shelters serves only to underline how far down the path to politically correct control we have come.

Walt

There will ALWAYS be people homeless. There will always be poor people.
You can't help those who really don't want it. Yet there will always be those who demand those who do better them to fork over something. "It's only fair.". Sorry,, life isn't fair.
So tell me RL, I worked my ass off to have what I do, so why in hell should I help those who refuse to help themselves? It's always someone else's fault they didn't get anywhere.
Yet now they want the government to "redistribute" said wealth. " I want some of their money! Take it, and give it to us." Pick your excuse.

Walt

Something to think about RL,, the number ONE thing that drives up the cost of anything and everything, is gov. regulations and ever increasing taxation.
Even YOU put that to ink and paper. Recall the drawing you made inspired by me? " A permit required to replace one damned board". ( you drew it as a broken step) And how that mandated permit allows the "inspector" to raid your home in search of other out of code violations. Who dreams up these now legal "invasions"? Progressives who live to right laws.

Scott Obermuller

"Meanwhile the homeless population grows and ratchets up the fire danger in the driest part of the year. I remember the 49er fire. How much did that cost?"
So the Dems are running Kali and we have lavish freebies for the homeless and yet Bob notices that we have an ever increasing homeless population.
Hey - I've got it! Lets do more of the same and keep giving more and more to the homeless!
First of all, I don't think Cal Fire is going to sit on its ass next time a fire breaks out down in the canyon in the dry winds of Sept. They've learned to throw everything, immediately, at fires now.
We shouldn't criminalize homelessness but if a person wants stuff from society, then society should help them earn the stuff they want.
It's not a kindness to let people wallow in mental illness and addiction, but our courts have decreed that govt can not force treatment on anybody unless they are presenting a clear danger to themselves or others. I understand the the danger of a govt that can force treatment on anybody they want (USSR) but that same person can't turn around and demand goodies from everyone else.
Look - I would never raise a child that would not want to be a productive member of society. Why am I a bad person for expecting all members of society to have the same ethic?

Todd Juvinall

Anyone know how the unemployment rate as posted this week in California can be a record low yet the welfare numbers at a record high? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm sharing with you this assessment of Trump from Republican Jason Chafettz, Chairman of the Powerfull House Oversight Committee. Expect the usual fake news etc response from the usual suspects whom I no longer correspond with. Predictable and boring.

"Jason Chaffetz: Trump is ‘almost worse’ than Obama — and Jeff Sessions is ‘worse’ than Loretta Lynch

Outgoing Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) lashed out at the Trump administration recently for being “worse” than the Obama administration when it comes to transparency.

In an interview with Sinclair broadcasting’s Sharyl Attkisson that aired on Sunday, the House Oversight Committee Chairman who spent millions crusading against Hillary Clinton explained why he was not hopeful about the government under President Donald Trump.

“The reality is, sadly, I don’t see much difference between the Trump administration and the Obama administration,” Chaffetz told the conservative host. “I thought there would be this, these floodgates would open up with all the documents we wanted from the Department of State, the Department of Justice, the Pentagon.”

“In many ways, it’s almost worse because we’re getting nothing, and that’s terribly frustrating and, with all due respect, the attorney general has not changed at all,” he added. “I find him to be worse than what I saw with Loretta Lynch in terms of releasing documents and making things available. I just, that’s my experience, and that’s not what I expected.”

Lame duck chair of the house oversight committee, Paul. He's quitting as on the end of this month.

Gregory

Not just the chairmanship, he's quitting the House. Out the door on June 30.

Paul Emery

What does that have to do with his observations?

Gregory

Paul, just from the quotes you chose... "“I thought there would be this, these floodgates would open up with all the documents we wanted from the Department of State, the Department of Justice, the Pentagon.”

Doesn't sound very rooted in reality to me. And now he's quitting. Early on it seemed he'd announced he'd be working at Fox News but Fox isn't saying anything I can find to corroborate that story.

Walt

I see a few are cheering the Ca. "single payer health care scam". As usual, NO ONE has cheered on how it would be paid for through taxes. No one EVER wants to talk about that.
There is no such thing as a free lunch.

The VA rules state that i can get local care since I'm too far from either VA hospital.
But you should see the fight I have to go though to get it. A week just to get authorization to see my treating Doc. The same goes for auth. for anything the Doc. needs to do. It's phone call day just to try and get the next test done. (they have over a week to stonewall before I can have a ligit bitch they say.)

Just wait till the state gets it's say. Be careful of what you wish for.. You won't be all that happy.

George Rebane

CA’s single payer healthcare will be a monumental morass. Never mind about how it will be funded out of some of our pockets; the big issue will be delivery of services. We often forget that government employees consist mostly of hubristic nebbishes with a high sense of entitlement and also high levels of feedback-immune incompetence. These people obtain a sense of self-worth only through projecting absolute power through that little hole in the glass when it’s finally your turn to genuflect at their altar.

Scott Obermuller

Don't forget the best news about free health care in Kali - all those new govt employees!
And all of them (well, the taxpayers) forking over millions more to SEIU.
And SEIU just happens to always support Dems.
Total coincidence, of course.

This is absolutely disgusting and sad.

A Republican official in Georgia believes his party will win Tuesday’s special election in the state’s 6th Congressional District thanks to last week’s attack on GOP congressmen at a baseball practice in Northern Virginia.

“I’ll tell you what: I think the shooting is going to win this election for us,” Brad Carver, the party chairman in Georgia’s 11th congressional district, said Saturday, according to The Washington Post.

PaulE 1217pm - What, pray, is "absolutely disgusting and sad" about a plausible, if not correct, assessment of last week's attack on GOP MOCs and its impact on tomorrow's election??

Don Bessee

Scott Obermuller

Paul is unable to distinguish between some one thinking that the attack was a good thing as it will enable a win in the Georgia special election, and some one simply making an after-the-fact comment on its impact on the election.
Paul does not have the facts, but he has the bias and the hate.

Gregory

George, it might be that the "progressive" left think they have a monopoly of running to the scene of a shooting in order to dip their hands into the blood and proclaim their pre and proscriptions in order to solve what they think the problem is.

A berniebro hunting GOP congressmen? Had a list of GOP targets in his pocket? And the most expensive Congressional election in history less than a week away? What would the Democratic Party ethics be if the table was turned?

For your reading pleasure.
Trump tweets:

" The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating. That's higher than O's #'s!"

Trump is delusional. Obama was way up in the polls at this stage.
Rasmussen has flipped to no on Trump. Trump now is negative on all major polls by a nearly -14 margin

To say he's ahead of Obama at this stage is a flat out lie. He's either a total liar or delusional or ignorant. Here's the numbers for Obama June 2019.

Obama positive 61 Negative 33

Let us look again at Paul's first post after the attempted mass murder by berniebro:

"Sad to say this is another example of the tragedy of gun violence in America. Will it ever end?"
Posted by: Paul Emery | 14 June 2017 at 09:55 AM

The modern "progressive" view of "gun violence" is any fatal shooting, mixing up all successful murders by bullet, suicide by bullet, accidental death by bullet, even a death by bullet fired in self defense or in the defense of others, added together into one measure of "gun violence". Yes, dear friends, the tragedy here is the killing of the enraged berniebro who was hunting GOP congresscritters out of season and without a permit.

That is Newt's old district. Boy, everybody and their mother is spending me e-mails to support the R candidate. From Trump to John Bolton and 50 others in between, including RINOs and none Office holder familiar faces. Got to counter the Dems pouring the money in and making this the most expensive Congressional Race in history. Ain't following it and it may or may not portend 2018.

All I do know is this is where the Alt-Lefties have drawn their line in the sand. They have been throwing everything including the kitchen sink at it, starting with the primaries. It's their hand picked non-Establishment Golden Boy, their Great White Hope.and the dude still hadn't moved into the district yet nor made an honest woman out of the squeeze he is shacking up with.

Boy, the Dems need to win something, anything to keep their hopes alive. They are starting to get a little Resistance fatigue too boot. They are still in denial about why Georgia went Red after taunting us with the confidence that Trump is such a terrible candidate that Hillary was up and going to take Georgia. How did that work out?

Yep, the assasian who shot at Republicans really made those with TDS look bad. He was a political assasian, plain and simple. Not a nut case that snapped one day like a disgruntled worker or like The Weather Underground or the Macon family's Helter Skelter trying to bring about The Revolution. Nope, it was 100% pure political and we know the motive: Political Assisianation. An early October Surprise, if you will.

Geee, everything the Liberals do just keeps blowing up in their faces. Never seen anything like it since the Chicago DNC love fest in 68.

Close race, Dems are all in on this one. Their hopes are soaring and they their arrogance is oozing from their pores. They have The Appointed Canidate, the Machine, the money, the celebrities, the endorsements, the Big Momentum.....er..just like way back in October, 2016. Guess the Lefties never grow tired of getting pissed off for losing. And man alive, do they get themselves all worked up in a frenzied unhinged fever and say and do all sorts of ignorant foolhardy things. Never seen anything like it.

I make it simple for myself. I just never grow tired of winning. Let Satan's spawn on the Left claim the moral high ground until the cows come home. It's what they do and its best for us to let them live in denial. It's much more entertaining when they think they are sooo superior.

PaulE 121pm - Your moral high ground is either shaky or non-existent. No one but the dedicated of the Left would consider any such assessment to even have a moral component - it just is what it is. I believe what you and yours fear is that the assessment is correct, and therefore tallies up another loss for the Dems. Therefore you must find a reason for it that ignores the apparent weakness of your candidate with no electable agenda.

Let the Lefties comfort themselves in their nice manners and staying above the fray with their dignified moral high ground. Me? I am a Deplorable, so don't pay me no nevermind. Ok, I am an Irredeemable, not a Deplorable. Maybe some day I might be more spiritually evolved and become a Deplorable.

That was your first reaction after the shooting? "Another example of the tragedy of gun violence in America"? As opposed to celebrating the thwarting of a planned multiple assassination of GOP congressmen by a deranged progressive at a baseball practice?

Just hours after the shooting in Virginia stopped, several died at a 'Frisco UPS facility. The guy killed three former associates, then killed himself when the good guys with guns showed up. The moral of the story should be:
1) stronger laws against owning and carrying firearms in San Francisco (aka 'Frisco) specifically and in California in general need to be put into place, or
2) stronger laws supporting and enabling good guys owning and carrying firearms in California in general and 'Frisco in particular are needed.

Yeah……and on that subject Punchy was disappointed that the president didn't show up and deliver the standard issue scold about guns.

I asked what he thought the president should say that hasn't already been said.

I'm sure I'll be receiving my response at any moment now!

Bill Tozer

Oh, Trump hit 50% in one poll over the weekend (the dastardly Rasmussen) and dropped to 48% this morning. And the Left is screaming, "Trump cherry picked polls!" How very Deplorable of him. Imagine a politician cherry picking polls! Unconscionable. Trump ain't no politician, but he is a quick learner.

The elephant in the room that is not discussed..er...the jackass in the room for those who have been following is the polls for the Dem Party. I have never seen such low numbers in all my born days. Sunk like a rock. Alas. What happened to a such formerly respectable national political Party is a downright modern day tragedy.

At least Trump polls higher than the RINOs, McConnell, Paul Ryan, Queen Nancy, Lieawatha Warren, Chucky Schroomer, and the whole Dem Party. Heck, the Republican Party is polling higher than the Jackass Party. "Liberals" in and off themselves still poll around 25% approval, which is higher than their historical average of 19-22%, decade in and decade out.

Sure, Trumps beats those Alt-Leftist rejects, but considering the bar is set so low, it ain't nothing to brag about. I think root canals and waiting in line at the DMV poll lower than the Alt Left, so there is always a silver lining. Never thought I would see the day when prostrate exams and stubbed toes polled more favorable than the Green Libertarians. We live in interesting times.

Let the fakenewsman savor in daily snapshots. It's the only bright spot he can numb the pain with to keep his crushed spirits up. Life is heavy for those who have both a broken picker and TDS. There is already too much pain in the world. Let the poor soul find comfort where he may. It's the least we can do for the less fortunate. That is who we are, those are our values.
I know about it all to well. I am a recovering liberal and it's been a long hard road back to sanity and I, too, was once cast off as hopeless and held up to both scorn and ridicule. Let the man numb the pain by indulgeing in his polls. It's all he has and without the polls to cling on to, no telling what will happen. Shudder the thought.

We all have our vices, so more destructive than others. Let him have his harmless indulgences. We must take compassion on those suffering lost souls. It's the right thing to do.

I believe Fish was addressing Gregory, triggering an odd Dope on the Rope rely on or about 3:55 pm. Fish addressing Gregory is clear as day to all without blinders on. Somehow the Punch Drunk One made it all about himself. Akin to Nancy Pelosi making the political assasian's targets all about the death threats she has received, more than anyone walking God's green earth according to her. She just had to center herself (and her religious worship) into this abominal act by a passionate Bernie Bro.
He just could not resist making the Fish-Gregory exchange all about himself just as Nancy had to make firing bullets at Republican Congressmen all about her. Could not not center himself into the dialogue. A true self centered soul sickness. Clinical.

Been telling you guys for months that those Bernie Bros take nastiness to a whole new level that make us Deplorables here resemble the Vienna Choir Boys. I cannot even repost what they did and said and called Friends of My Gal. Males dropping the f-bomb seem like calling someone a doo-doo bird. Very vile and vulgar, even for Biker Billy.

Did enjoy the Dems on their practice field upon hearing the breaking news, join hands and formed a circle to pray to the Almighty for their Republican counterparts. This on the heels of their Democrat platform in Philly removing all references to "God" from their party plank. Hmmm. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They know this shooting makes them look bad.....just before the Georgia special election.

Carry on Fish and Gregory. Learn to tune out the ant who thinks he is a raptor. The toothless dog will decide when he will bark. Far enough....as it it matters.

I wonder if Paul thinks that the 'repercussions' of the Sandy Hook shooting resulting in action on 'gun violence' that he approves of is good?
Or is Paul going to claim that no one ever, ever tied the shootings into proposed legislative action or regulation?
How does that shoe fit, Paul?

Scott, the only topic worth replying to is polls and pot, pot and polls. We have gone from "name one poll where Trump hit 50%" (Saturday's Rasmussen poll) to "Trump, the big fat liar, said he is ahead of Zerobama at this stage."

Excellent Bob & Weave. A moving target. Kudos. Got off the ropes. About time. That other strategy of having his opponents wear themselves out beating on him needed to go back to the drawing board. Excellent improvision and going to Plan B.

Now, which came first. The pot or the polls?

Speaking of moving targets, what a gift from the Almighty that the progressives in general and those afflicted with TURDs in particular are such bad shots. Horrible shots. Plumb embarrassing. Gives a perfectly good firearm a bad name.
I am surprised they can hit the broad side of the barn or FUE. Otherwise with the caliper of ammo the gruntled former Bernie worker had, it would of/should of been a real blood bath. Guess TDS (TURDs) really affects one's vision , not to mention one's grasp of reality. Interesting to see when the political assassin got that ammo.

Polls the other day had Trump at 50-50/ And of course you disregard that. But hey, new people are all the same now. Fake.

BLACK MONDAY FOR THE CLIMATISTAS
Most climatistas are going to call today “Black Monday,” because today has dealt a double-whammy of what Al Gore would call inconvenient news.

More here: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/06/black-monday-for-the-climatistas.php

Power quotes on two studies showing that models are not up to the science:

First Study: Over most of the early twenty-first century, however, model tropospheric warming is substantially larger than observed; warming rate differences are generally outside the range of trends arising from internal variability. The probability that multi-decadal internal variability fully explains the asymmetry between the late twentieth and early twenty-first century results is low (between zero and about 9%).

Second Study: In particular, we point out that this work used invalid modeling tools, contained modeling errors, and made implausible and inadequately supported assumptions. Policy makers should treat with caution any visions of a rapid, reliable, and low-cost transition to entire energy systems that relies almost exclusively on wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.

These two studies were done by ardent decarbonization promoters, they just could not deal with the scientific BS that was being promoted by their Climatistas Academic lounge mates in previous studies.

Gregory writes

"Interesting news" seems limited to polls that have Trump holding the short straw."

Gregory why do you find it to be of no interest that Trump is either delusional, ignorant a liar when he claims that he is even in the polls and ahead of Obama at the same stage of his Presidency? That is so easily refuted yet participants on this blog refuse to even acknowledge the fact that he is totally wrong. If we cannot even agree on such a simple and documented matter of fact then why should we engage in more subtle conversations. Of course you still believe that the Russians had nothing to do with interfering with last years election so what's the use?

Gregory

Paul, one, I think polls (outside of the real polls on election days) to be a sideshow nothingburger and am amused by your continuing breathless reports of GOP polling doom since we started chatting during the primary season. Second, I don't know exactly what Trump said or wrote and what, if any, basis there might have been for his actual words.

There are reasons I didn't vote for him, Paul, but given the DNC/Podesta/Hillary role in pushing their media partners to push Trump as a "Pied-Piper candidate" to lead the GOP astray, I think the Dems should live with the results.

Don Bessee

Po' ol' PE is a bore as well as being boorish. Keep your word and leave the TURDS eruptions for KVMR, if they even let you. ;-)

Anybody notice the statement issued when we shot down the Russian jet? It was the first time I heard our new policy. "We are NOT fighting the Syrian Army, we are fighting ISIS in Syria. Boy, that is good to hear.

The "no fly zone" Crooked Hillary, Puppet Mc Cain, the Deep State, and the Internationalists proposed may have worked in the now respected George W Bush's Iraq War, but not in Obama's Syria of today. The skies over Syria that Trump inherited are buzzing with Syrian jet fighters, Iranian jets, Russian jets, and US jets. Boy, that is a powder keg waiting to explode, escalating out of control to War with some bigger boys involved. Didn't we have a poster here who thought the solution was a no fly zone in Syria, ROFLMAO.

Seems when Secretary of State John Kerry said the only way we would not cut loose on Assad's head with our arsenal was if Assad would turn over all his chemical weapons. Putin jumped in and said he would take care of that and we held our horsemen back. Putin was elevated to an instant world celebrity as a man of peace and problem solver in addition to being propelled to the position of an instant credible player on the world stage. Now, Obama the war monger got a Nobel Peace Prize for "Potential" and Putin should have gotten one too, per the crazy way the peaceniks think in Olso. Akin to Sierra Pacific Industries being called a green company and selling carbon offsets as well as timber. That was not what being a green company means! Too funny.

Good thing HRC's no fly zone coupled with taking out Assad and directly fighting the Syrian Army never got to see the light of day. Too many jets from too many countries flying over Syria now. Good to hear our policy is not to directly fight the Syrian Army. They have the Russians and Iranians covering their flank. Its how The Great War escalated (WW 1).
Fighting ISIS is a real existential threat to our Constitution, females, gays, rule of law, and our wonderful civil liberties. Cooler heads have prevailed. Thank goodness for John Kerry disengaging his brain when he engaged his mouth. Otherwise, we would be fighting the Syrian Army, the Iranian Red Guard, and the sophisticated new generation of Russia anti-aircraft batteries as well as Russian jets screaming overhead. What was Obama-Clinton thinking? Their no fly zone solution was worse than our national security problem, which is ISIS.

from Paul - "Of course you still believe that the Russians had nothing to do with interfering with last years election so what's the use?"
OK Paul - fill us in on exactly what the Russians did to alter the last pres election. What did they do and how did it alter the election?
Paul? Paul?
Oh - that's right - he doesn't 'engage' us any more.
And he wants people to take him seriously?

Bill Tozer

Ok, since Paul is beneath talking to some of us uncivilized in-bred knuckledraggers and instead addresses "dear readers", can some Dear Reader out there explain to me how one "hacks an election"???? Sure, the Russians play mischief and sow discord for their perceived geo-political advantage (think backing Neo-Nazis in Germany and counter-cultures in countries closer to their border), but HOW DOES ONE HACK AN ENTIRE NATIONAL ELECTION in the USA when our polling booths are not hooked up to the internet??? Sway an entire election, influence an entire Presidential election, HACK an entire national election to achieve a desired outcome for the most unfavorable candidate ever to win a primary in my lifetime?

Someone explain the mechanics of hacking an election. Hillary's private server damaged her more than Wikileaks ever could do and all Wikileaks did was embarrass the DNC and a handful of top campaign staff, all of which were seasoned veterans of winning the Big Prize.

How does one hack an election? Guess if you repeat the lie to yourself long enough, you actually come to believe your own BS. A rather perverse phenomenon, yet a very effective defense mechanism. Keep saying that lie until it, and it only, becomes your truth, the whole truth, and nothing but your truth.

Reality, what a concept. Now, how does any person, place, or thing hack a US Presidential election??? Hmmm. Crickets again? Darn. I was foolish enough to give it another go. "Ain't no fool like an old fool" me says slinking away to my hole in the ground. I am such a worm. But, how? How? How?

Don Bessee

I continue to find it amusing that a member of one of the most hated professions tries to posture here as having moral superiority while being a party parrot. ;-)

George Rebane

For the record, i remain puzzled as to why we are still discussing the possibility of Russia's impacting last year's election either through the criminal negligence of Hillary or collusion with Team Trump. Long ago on these pages we established that no one has yet to identify the means of such Russian meddling, and no one has surfaced with a shred of evidence that such meddling occurred. Nothing there has changed. Mueller has been charged with putting a bow around the whole affair. What possible contribution can we here make by trading unsubstantiated allegations and idle thoughts with each other? Until we hear from Mueller, let's concentrate on the fate of Trump's agenda wending through a Congress ranging between resistive and recalcitrant. That is a more visible process that will have a real impact on the country.

The truce of playing nice and pretending to be an adult after the baseball practice political assasian affair lasted all of one day. Geeze, that is a no brainer. I could have told you that. Where's their waterboy?

Agreed. It's just so much fun watching the boxer staggering about swinging at the air trying to hit something tries to make it to the bell....after getting his bell rung and clock cleaned. Ok, I will give The Punch Drunk One some dignity and let him think he floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

You are doing great Punchy. You really got us on the ropes now!! Here's to looking at you with my night vision goggles. Over here, no, over here. This way. Marco, Polo.. Look for the guy with grass stains on his knees. Look up, look down, look at my thumb, boy you are...adorable. Best pull the shades. Boo!

The words from Trump were a direct quote of his tweet. Trump must think polls to be important because he follows them so closely. Here's his exact tweet unless you think they are fake.

"The new Rasmussen Poll, one of the most accurate in the 2016 Election, just out with a Trump 50% Approval Rating. That's higher than O's #'s!
4:02 AM - 18 Jun 2017 "

MOre from the same article

"Trump suggested that his approval rating was higher than that of his predecessor, Barack Obama. That does not appear to be the case – at least not when comparing statistics from similar stages of the two men’s presidencies.

Rasmussen poll results released about five months into Obama's first term – on June 16, 2009 – had his approval rating at 56%. An average of the major national polls compiled by Real Clear Politics put Obama's approval rating on June 16, 2009, at 59.6%.

Trump also celebrated the results of the Rasmussen Reports poll on Friday, tweeting that the 50% approval rating was “great news.”

Still, most other major polls conducted during the same time frame yielded lower numbers. The Real Clear Politics average estimated Trump's approval rating on Friday, June 16, to be just 40%."

Paul Emery - the laughing stock of Nevada County. Shows up here with shock and dismay about a fabricated bunch of BS he read at HuffPo. He gets schooled and off he goes to another subject.
Once again he's slapped down on the mat, but wait - he's up and swinging!
Now it's another poll!
Please don't stop posting here, Paul - you are one amusing piece of work.
And you provide us with the best of Nevada County's leftward thinking.
Meanwhile, it seems the Obama admin has managed to once again bury info re their activities against the American people.

Nothing to see here, folks. And you never will.
Remember that Rice was named to the post of NSA to keep her from being questioned after she went on 4 TV shows to repeatedly lie about Benghazi.

Scott Obermuller

Walt - you beat me - that's what I get for taking a break in mid post.
Really - is there anyone right now more cold bloodied evil in American politics than Susan Rice?

All this tit for tat vitriol. When will it ever end? Trump should address this more. Hmm, the word vitriol is back in fashion. Haven't heard that word since Gabby got plugged by that Dem who never listened to Rush or any talk radio. Vitriol caused it. Oh, the catalysis was Sarah Palin targeting vulnerable Dems. When will it ever end? Poor Nancy. They say such unflattering things about her.

Oh yeah. Trump said his Inaugural had bigger crowds than Obama and the buttercups were running around like chickens with their heads cut off posting pics With arrows on them and side by side comparisons and 24/7 exploding talking heads proving that Obama's crowds were bigger until they were blue in the face. Hmmm. I am not so convinced. Yep, I was rolling on the ground laughing over that one. Boy, Trump lit their hair on fire with that one. One of many countless ones. He said he won in a landslide and won the popular vote or something just to watch them breath into the paper bags that the WH so generously provided to the Fakenews Press Corps. Loved that one. And who can forget the recent break of etiquette, a foo-pay if you will, by putting the NYT and Washington Compost in the farest nosebleed seats in the back row. In fact, it was a 3 chair back back row. Sorry, can't hear ya, can't even see ya. Funny guy.

So, Trump tweeted that his numbers are higher than Obama's at this time? Lol. Yep, someone took the bait hook, line, and sinker. How does that worm taste, Punchy? Better than crow I bet. Yum, yum. Boy, talk about walking into that one. Think it's called leading with the chin in rope-a-dope lingo.

That Trump is one funny man. A gift. He has spent some time with a lot of Liberals and knows they simply are incapable of wrapping their heads around any semblence of sarcasm and where tragically born without a sense of humor. Play them like fiddle, President Trump. It's fun watching them dry humping knot holes in oak trees.

Scott, Fish, Todd and especially Don. Have you had the time to look at the po9ll numbers I have to possibly avoid the embarrassment of being so ignorant of facts?

I'm not sure which is sadder at this point…….that you think, that after delivering poll numbers on a near daily basis that you think anybody cares.

Or that you simply forgot that nobody cares! Which I suspect is really the case!

Paul Emery

For you reading pleasure-Trump now down by 6 in Rasmussen poll. Don B. take note. He dropped 6 points in less than a week. Down by a remarkable 21 in CBS poll. Trump says he's ahead of Obama-Sure Donny anything you say.

….still president Paul.

Paul Emery

Yes Fish he is. When Clinton had similar numbers early on in his first term he lost both the House and Senate in the mid-terms. Trump is lower that Clinton at this stage.
