Let Ockham's razor be your guide. Trump or Comey, who lies?

I'd give the nod to Trump.

Of course most of the frustrated Hillary supporters really find themselves in a quandary when the subject of telling the truth comes up.

You misapply and misunderstand Occam's razor.

Hell hath no fury like an FBI director scorned.

Walt

Comey should be lawyer shopping today. As predicted, he cooked his own goose being and admitted LEAKIER. The news of those charge filings are out. Spit roasting VS grilling is a tough choice. Then again, bringing back the Brazen Bull is a good option.

Todd Juvinall

Trump came away from the Comey stuff unscathed.

Bonnie McGuire

Remember this going on a week before the election?
FBI Director James Comey reopened the agency's investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails last week because "almost 100" agents threatened to resign before next week's election, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV.
"A few weeks ago, almost 100 agents were threatening Comey that they were going to resign — and that kind of pressure is what turned him around," DeLay, 69, the majority leader from 2003 to 2005, said on Tuesday's "The Steve Malzberg Show." "It wasn't Comey or his integrity.
"I know he made a huge mistake when he indicted Clinton — though not indicting her — but now he's trying to turn that around.
"He had to do it now or have all these FBI agents resign," he added. "That would have probably been a bigger story than what Comey did.
"He got the pressure. He got the notice.
"He understood as far as his own job and being able to go forward in his own job and his reputation," DeLay said.
"If 100 FBI agents resigned before the election, he would have been toast." And the side show goes on and on...

Sure Todd. That's why he's soaring in the polls and has the support of the American people. Here's some numbers on whether Trump fired Comey to protect himself or for the good of the country. The numbers are 64% - 24% that he Fired Comey to protect himself rather than for the good of the country. Pretty grim for the ol' Trumper.

Punchy was a boxer I thought! He oughta understand the concept of a "draw".

Walt

Far from a draw Fish. Comey cut his own throat. Admitting he leaked for pure political reasons took a special kind of stupid.

Paul Emery

Walt

He covered his butt with his dated recollections of conversations he had with Trump. He also shared that with others at the FBI. Trumps bullshit about tapes will haunt him. Trump has no credibility in this one being a serial liar with a proven record of not telling the truth.

Steve Frisch

I am trying to figure out how and why people would think that Comey cooked his own goose or harmed his position at all by 'leaking'....he did not 'leak,' he relayed his experience in the conversation. Nothing in the conversation that Comes released was classified, it is entirely legal to talk about it, and he is a private citizen now, so he is violating no professional commitment.

Walt

Paul.. Opinion is not a fact. Can't impeach on "opinion". Opinion is not criminal.
But leaking IS If Comey leaked what's admitted to what else did he leak? Looks like plenty.

From Deplorable News Network, June 7, 2017.
Headline: "MSM Hopes Comey Hearing Precipitates Trump Impeachment. It Won't."

Other headlines from last night and today are on the lines of "Punchy hopes Comey Testimony will Inditct Trump, but Comey indicts himself"....."Comey perjured Himself"...."Lynch Pressured Comey, Comey When Along"....."House Oversight Report finds Holder obstructed Justice, crickets from Fakenewsmen" and on and on it goes.
Ah heck, just impeach the bastard now. Geeze, it will calm down all you with the Derangement Syndrome better than warm milk and a nappy pooh. I hate seeing grown men cry. Try some fishing to soothe the savage beast or something. Who knows what you might catch next,

Walt

Comey supplied the high quality nuts and bolts to build his own gallows.

Bill Tozer

Walt, Gotta go along with Fish on this one. It goes nowhere or not far with charges against Comey. Just the way the cookie crumbles in Washington.
Sure, Comey lied, or bumped his head and can't remember Squat, Jack, or Bo Diddley. No mater. Maybe Trump will say "he has already been fired so let's not drag him and what is left of his reputation through the ringer, if possible. He has already paid the price, but that's just my take. He is a good man," See, Trump will be fair. Oh wait, Trump said that about Flynn. Me bad. Obstruction of Justice! Impeach the lying POS. Carry on.

Let Comey go quietly into the still of the night. He served well and did what he was told.

Walt

That could be so, but I can see the possibility of Trump making an example out of him.
Trump doesn't take backstabbing lightly.(nor would I) This a new justice dept. Laws mean things.

Spike

Released the content of the memo.

Bill Tozer

Well, all this is fun and games, but let's get back to The CHARGE:

The charge is COLLUSION. Who is this very powerful person or persons who colluded with the Russians to turn our whole political system on its head and effectually changed the outcome on the 2016 election to ensure Trump's win??. Who is this most powerful person? To upset the whole apple cart and make Trump's win against all odds? Collusion. The charge is COLLUSION.

Oh, I ain't taking about someone having business ties with Russian or having a foreign bank account or giving a speech to Russians businessmen or even Russians in general. Carter Paige? He did nothing. Paul Mannafort? Nah. No, who is this powerful person that colluded with a foreign government to alter the course of history?? Who has such power to cullude with Putin to make Donald J. Trump the 45th POTUS????? Who? How did they do it?? Who?

Yo Punchy, the charge is collusion. Not screwing Russian hookers or sending olive branches, or bromance or being a big fat narcissistic liar. Who is so powerful to collude with the Russians to totally upend the entire US political system???

With all the NSA intercepts, surely there must be a name to put on this most powerful person or persons. Someone so mighty that 60 million people turned out to vote for Trump that were otherwise not ever going to do that? Whoever this person is, he or she must be greater than anyone I know walking the face of the Earth. Soros? Putin? Obama? Who, who, who?

Remember all, the CHARGE is collusion. The reason Trump is the season. Who possesses that kind of power? Doesn't anybody in the Intel Gang of Eight know?? pUNCHY, ho is it?

Paul Emery

Comey is not lying. If he was why would he encourage Trump to release the "tapes" that according to Trump would show he (comey) lied. Of course there are no tapes.
that was just fake news from Trump.

Comey wrote his memo's to cover he ass. Trump is toast on this one.

George Rebane

Comey had the conversation with President Trump while he was a federal employee. The conversation was privileged and confidential between the two of them (recall Trump indicated that when he cleared the room), therefore the material Comey subsequently recorded was a confidential government record and government property. Its content could be declassified or made public at a later time, but it had not been so done when Comey leaked it. It matters not whether you are a private citizen or not when you disclose such classified information. Those of us who held security clearances most of our lives know this important little piece of law. Why did it escape Comey?

Todd Juvinall

Sorry Paul but Trump is just fine. And he said he would testify under oath n it. Comey made this stuff up after the fact as he never did this befor. When he revealed he did not memo after Lynch and her meeting with him regarding Clinton on the plane that was the key. He is lying and Trump is not.

Don Bessee

Dr. R, Comey confirmed he has been a lap dog clitonista all along. He rolled over for Holder and Lynch by going with the party line on the broad Clinton issues. The veil was ripped off Comey in large part by his own statements on how weak he was. That's why he kept getting plum assignments where he was malleable to dem influence, no memos written about Lynch or 0.

Po' ol' PE's months long fakenewsman narrative is burnt toast.;-)

Paul Emery

Well George we'll find out. I doubt if charges will ever be filed against Comey. Trump is playing with the big boys here. To quote Micky Rourke in the movie Buffalo 66 "You mess with us and something very very evil will happen. Remember Deep Throat. It's what happens when you mess with the FBI.

Paul Emery

Oh yeah, Trump will never testify unless he's under Subpoena. Never, I'm sure he's already been scolded by his attorney

Steve Frisch

Posted by: George Rebane | 09 June 2017 at 04:52 PM

I am sorry there is nothing 'privileged' about a conversation between two government officials if no classified material is contained. Clearing a room does not make the information classified. There may be an expectation of confidentiality while someone is an employee, but if they leave the prohibition leaves. If that were not the case no one who left service in the White House would ver able to write a book :)

It is my understanding that the memo's are in the possession of the Special Counsel. The memos have not been classified. Comey testimony did not include the documents as exhibits--he recalled their content from memory.

So in short--the information was not classified. As someone who held a security clearance for many years I assume you could tell the difference between a classified document and an embarrassing one.

Walt

Really Paul? I guess you didn't see the Rose garden statement. I see your in your evidence workshop. Keep working on your fake news.

Bill Tozer

Paul, of course there are no tapes. Geeze, what a numbskull. That was all for you all to look like imbeciles, duh. You guys cannot not fall for it. You just keep on walking straight into it. It's called leading with the chin.

Walt

Damn Frisch,, better read the laws about that. It blatantly obvious you didn't.
They are all over the news. Too late for damage control. The SS LIB Slant is going under.

" George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley stated on his website that although the memos were created by Comey, the former FBI director would likely have to follow federal non-disclosure laws of classified and unclassified information.

Turley writes, “Besides being subject to Nondisclosure Agreements, Comey falls under federal laws governing the disclosure of classified and non-classified information. Assuming that the memos were not classified (though it seems odd that it would not be classified even on the confidential level), there is 18 U.S.C. § 641 which makes it a crime to steal, sell, or convey ‘any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof.’”

Bill Tozer

Ok, Punchy, I will go with you on this one, despite my better judgement and your stellar track record on recent events. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and agree 100% with your written word, experience, and wisdom whose depths know no bounds. Lead on! I am marching with you on this particular matter.

"Comey wrote his memo's to cover he ass. Trump is toast on this one."
Posted by: Paul Emery | 09 June 2017 at 04:42 PM

TRUMP IS TOAST ON THIS ONE. Thus sayeth the Fakenewsman, a very smart fellar. Written in stone on this date in history. MARK THE TAPE!!

Don Bessee

Fisch needs some education on federal record laws and executive communications rules for members of the executive branch. Those are federal documents composed on a federal computer in a federal vehicle by a presidential appointee who serves at the pleasure of the President. ;-)

Don Bessee

Many, many classes of federal employee have to have their manuscripts vetted by their former agency before publication. ;-)

Bill Tozer

Breaking News! Punchy did not, I repeat, did not vote for Loretta Lynch nor Comey either.

Steve Frisch

I am sorry, but Comey conveyed the record to Mueller...he testified based on his memory. He briefed his friend based on his memory. That is not a "record." Records were not obeyed, memories were. The memories were not classified.

There is a difference.

Posted by: Walt | 09 June 2017 at 05:34 PM

Steve Frisch

I think its kind of funny how you guys are conflating someones recollection of an event with an official record. I can't help but think it is intentional.

Steve Frisch

"...obeyed..." should read "conveyed'

Todd Juvinall

Trump is fine. Comey is trying to save himself. He tangled with the wrong guy. Trump is telling the truth. Get used to losing.

Gregory

Notes of an FBI agent are theirs to share with whomever they desire seems to be the Frischian belief. Really, Steve? So why didn't Comey just talk off the record to the reporter directly?

Todd Juvinall

Any paperwork or memos or emails of a government employee is FOIA findable. Frisch is as usual wrong.

Don Bessee

The eco warrior does not get or is willfully ignoring that Comey testified under oath that he gave the memos to his professor buddy to give to the NYT.
When you have your classified outbrief it is made crystal clear that the rules follow you to the grave or declassification of the item.
;-)

Steve Frisch

Greg, notes regarding an investigation would not be free to share...regardless in this case notes were not shared...recollections were... and there was no case, the President was not under investigation. One can only "leak" classified information. Comey went to great lengths not to put anything classified in the memo and not convey any recollection that could be considered classified.

According to media reports, Trump plans on filing a complaint with the Department of Justice next week based on Trump attorney Marc Kasowitz accusation of Comey, “unilaterally and surreptitiously” making “unauthorised disclosures to the press of privileged communications with the president”.

The problem is that the conversation was not privileged either. First they can't claim privilege because they have already publicly waived it. Remember that? To claim privilege one would need o identify what the privilege is...as in executive privilege...and they did not do so.

No one has sited either any specific non-disclosure agreement (the FBI does not require one) nor has anyone quoted any specific FBI rule against recollecting a non classified event.

However, filing a claim with the DOJ could be considered witness intimidation...which I think could be a real issue here.

Steve Frisch

Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 09 June 2017 at 06:30 PM

Wrong Todd, if as you claim this is classified or privileged it would not be subject to a FOIA claim. If it was not classified or privileged it would be subject to FOIA....and THUS IT WOULD BE LEGAL FOR HIM TO SHARE IT...thus you are either confused, or speaking jabberwocky.

Steve Frisch

Clearly it is an interesting legal argument...one going on in the press right now...and you are all wrong...and confusing the difference between a 'leak' what is privileged, ...and the content was never 'classified' as George contended.

Don Bessee

Willfully ignoring. ;-)

Gregory

"and there was no case, the President was not under investigation"

Funny how that never managed to get leaked while Comey was in office.

Comey laundered the leak through a friend, a law professor, to get it into print. That's a leak.

Steve Frisch

Posted by: Don Bessee | 09 June 2017 at 06:34 PM

Don is correct I misspoke, I meant to say he did not share the memo with the PRESS, he did say he shared it with his friend....regardless as a private document that contains no classified material s it is his property and he was a private citizen when he shared it.

Todd Juvinall

Sorry Frisch you are wrong. He wrote the memo on his government computer making it FOIA. So try again.

Don Bessee

18USC SS641 is a directly relevant statute. Just listened to 3 lawyers discussing other potentially relevant statutes but 18 USC is the one that has been focused on since he admitted a 3rd party transfer yesterday. ;-)

Steve Frisch

Todd are you saying anything written on a government computer is subject to FOIA? Well I guess anything is subject to a FOIA request, but the gubmint don't have to give it to you.

here is the list of FOIA exemptions with code citations..

http://www.foiadvocates.com/exemptions.html

Gregory

"Don is correct I misspoke, I meant to say he did not share the memo with the PRESS, he did say he shared it with his friend....regardless as a private document that contains no classified material s it is his property and he was a private citizen when he shared it."

Sharing the "memo" with the PRESS via his friend is more truthful, isn't it Stevie, and Comey did share that he did that to provoke the naming of a special counsel, thus manipulating the government from the outside looking in. Well played, Mr. Comey.

Steve Frisch

18 USC SS641 relayes to THEFT of government property and materials. The record was not an official government document...if it were an official report on a meeting known as a 302 it would be a record. Regardless Comey gave the record to Mueller. According to court interpretation of USC 641 the statute relates to theft of an item of financial value....I guess Comey could have sold his recollection....but he didn't he gave it away.

Don Bessee

You can ask for anything to be reviewed for FOIA release, if you get what you want is another thing. You can also request a classification review and executive privilege counts as a classification, there are a number of classifications from mundane to eyes only compartmented.

Either way its an executive branch document that was transferred to a 3rd party with Comey admitting intending it to be transferred to the press. Comey also said clearly he knew he could not hand it off himself. ;-)

Steve Frisch

It is well played Mr. Comey...and perfectly legal...and he is going to help drive this President into early retirement. I say more power to him. True that politics makes strange bedfellows, but then again, the enemy of my enemy may not be my friend but he can be my ally. Trump is unfit to be President and the faster he is destroyed politically the better off we will be.

Todd Juvinall

Comey opened himself up to prosecution by ;eaking official government owned classified documents. His conversation was classified and he leaked them. So adios Mr. Comey. Steve Frisch thinks he can be you attorney so good luck. Trump will be there another 7.5 years and America will be saved from the likes of the Frisch and Obama. Thank you President Trump. Any democrat is now toast.

Walt

How much is the SBC going to contribute to the Comey defense fund? He's going to need plenty.
Comey broke FED law. There is no getting around that. He's a disgruntled and pissed trying to get even, and was out to inflict political damage. Epic fail.

If he's lucky , he can share a cell with Ms. Winner.

Don Bessee

Any document generated by a federal employee belongs to the archive of the US and the agency. Your ignorance of the legal standing of notes of an FBI agent is understandable but its time to admit you are as wrong as you were about the fact of a document transfer.

Comey does not own it, the executive branch owns it, just like all of the docs in presidential libraries. He can not legally give it away.

AH the point of the party parroting @ 740, are you subbing for po' ol' PE tonight? ;_0

Don Bessee

:_0 , I must be channeling a little Picasso there. ;-)

Gregory

J. Edgar Comey converted a CYA memorandum to personal use... damaging the guy who fired him... not by a personal statement on the record to a reporter but by laundering it through a 3rd party.

Russ

Quote of the Day: Deadly brain-eating ameba symptoms are difficult to identify, however, Hillary or Bernie bumper stickers are a good indicator.

Steve Frisch

IF you guys read anything other than right wing propaganda rags you would se that your are incorrect.

Gregory

Stevie's version of 18 USC SS641
"18 USC SS641 relayes [sic] to THEFT of government property and materials."

The actual wording of the statute:
"Whoever embezzles, steals, purloins, or knowingly converts to his use or the use of another, or without authority, sells, conveys or disposes of any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof, or any property made or being made under contract for the United States or any department or agency thereof; or

Whoever receives, conceals, or retains the same with intent to convert it to his use or gain, knowing it to have been embezzled, stolen, purloined or converted—"

Comey leaked the memo, to a 3rd party, to leak to the press in order to get a special persecutor involved once Comey couldn't keep leaking from the inside. No Stevie, not "perfectly legal".

Bill Tozer

I for one, am very glad Mr. Steve has volunteered to step in and give Punchy a breather. Steve always answers questions and makes his point-o-view in a cohesive manner. A breath of fresh air while Punchy tries to get his legs to hold up under him. Welcome Mr. Frish.

Now, Steve, as Punchy's tag team partner, what do the snapshot polls say today? Who is winning the popularity contest? Are those snobby Polly Purebred girls going to let the new girl sit at their cafeteria lunch table? Polls, I want my daily polls. Come on Steve, tag team means it's your job to bring in the polls.

Does it concern anyone how weak this guy turned out to be? You would have thought that his spine would be strong being that big. He was a drone whos weakness was his most attractive quality to the 0 admin. If folks were honest about it the vast majority of the country at one time or the other in the last year wanted him fired.

Embrace the bipartisanism people. ;-)

Don Bessee

@737 - I noticed you failed to post the whole para there that expressly states documents. ;-)

Steve Frisch

I could cite about 20 legal authorities supporting my interpretation of 641 and you can cite ....Brietbart....I will just wait a month to see that Comey ain't being prosecuted.

Gregory

Frisch 828

Do they all ignore the "or knowingly converts to his use or the use of another" language of the statute... yes, if you just say "stolen" it doesn't reach very far.

No Steve, 20 reports from CNN don't count.

Don Bessee

I never said he would be. Right now the only legal authority that matters is Jeff Sessions. You still failed to acknowledge that documents are cited. You should get your rhetoric tips from someone else. When fact fails you, you slide to slime some general conservative thing.

What was it the guy in Jaws said, for all you education you still are not able to admit when you are wrong? ;-)

Bill Tozer

Good answer Steve. "I will just wait a month....". Punchy would never say that. Too impatient. That's my take as well. Let's see how it all falls out. Time will tell. Once it goes the Legal Eagles, no telling what happens. A lot of flyballs die out in centerfield.

Without reading one legal agrument on The Memos, seems to moi that all private conversations with the President and his underlings are classified by its very nature. That's why you can't get Obama's phone conversations with Hillary during her silly private server chapter. Of course, a President can declassify anything he chooses.

Now, Comey was on the clock when he wrote the Feb. memo. Whether he did it on a gov't server or took his notes home, it don't matter. Those memos a property of the US Government, a very large bureaucracy headquartered in Washington DC. Ain't his, it is property of Uncle Sam. Even notes stays with Uncle Sam. No to be removed. The timeline in question is when our long time public servant was on the clock.

I seem to recall a certain General and high ranking CIA chief sharing notes he took after conversations he had with top officials. Most of the no-no such as his personal notes a notes are classified and he had not right to share them with his secret squeeze box or anyone. They belonged to Big Bro, period. Sure, he also leaked other "classified documents", but his notes were Exhibit A. What was his name? Oh yeah.

On November 7, 2012, Petraeus tendered his resignation as CIA chief to President Obama, per directive from James Clapper.[6]
On November 9, 2012, Petraeus resigned as Director of the CIA after admitting having a sexual relationship with his biographer.
On April 23, 2015, Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of mishandling classified materials. He was given a two-year probationary period and a fine of $100,000.[7]

There ya go again Bill pestering the leftists with real world issues and the truth. That's not allowed in their safe space! They have play dough at the community center in Truckee though. ;-)

Carl Rove has had it with Trump. Trump is ill equipped to do battle with the big boys (the FBI) and will be squashed by his own bloated ego. Lots of fun to watch.

“Increasingly it appears Mr. Trump lacks the focus or self-discipline to do the basic work required of a president,” he closed. “His chronic impulsiveness is apparently unstoppable and clearly self-defeating. Mr. Trump may have mastered the modes of communication, but not the substance, thereby sabotaging his own agenda.” Carl Rove From a Wall Street Journal op ed

Don Bessee

Wow, what a CCC on this thread now.

The bipartisan leaders of the Senate intel cmte. are going after the poor schumk who Comey used to leak to the NYT. People thought the Clintons were tough on attackers, the President has taken political counter punch to a new level. ;-)

Jeez Punchy.....if you wanted a fictional character to vanquish the president you should have called Wonder Woman! At least she's pretty!

Karl Rove......?? That's just sad.

"Carl Rove From a Wall Street Journal op ed"

My my, will wonders never cease. Looks likeTDS can cure BDS. It's a modern day miracle, I tell ya, a bloody miracle. When Punchy quotes The Brain, we know he is on his way to recovery. Carl and Paul sitting in a tree, Kay Eye Ss Ss Eye In Gee.

Private citizen, not a government document. I could cite the sources....but I would have almost the entire body of the mainstream legal community (with the exception of Turley who actually did not state it was illegal but did say he thought it might be unethical) and you would have a string of people being quoted by right wing news sources like Brietbart, the Blaze, Townhall and Alex Jones.

Todd, If I am an unreliable source because I am not an attorney then why are the rest of the yahoo's here who are not attorneys reliable sources?

Don, Sessions is recused on all matters related to this at this point.(and fro God's sake if you are that tired go to sleep...sleep deprivation really does mess with your head, just ask BLOTUS) a

Bill, no conversations with the President are not automatically classified unless they contain classified information--they may be privileged but one would need to claim executive privilege and prove it. The legal standard is not that all government documents are government property--official documents and records are--nor is some one always "on the clock" And did you miss the identification of the materials as "classified" in the Petreus case?

Finally, do you realize how ridiculous you all look arguing over whether or not the memo was legally released, as opposed being appalled at the content of the memo, that the President of the United States is actively engaged in obstruction of justice, not just based on Comey's testimony, but based on his own words when he said publicly that Comes was fired to stop the investigation?

I find it humorous that there are people here that spent a good part of their lives opposing Communism but are happy to have their heads so far up the former USSR's back side that they can't see the Constitution through the borscht.

Face it guys, many of you backed a pussy grabbing, blustering lying, strutting, sleep deprived, narcissistic, and frankly intellectually unprepared bully to be POTUS.

Todd Juvinall

Yes we supported a real man t for President. Well I did anyway. And you should try to be one Stevie. You metrosexual males are really what he was alledgedly grabbing. As far as you calling us yahoos. You live in a little grimey town that is truly not very pretty next to the interstate and the railroad tracks. We live in a beautiful forest and our two town are qhite well maintained and lovely. So I expect you are the yahoo.

Comey will likely be prosecuted for leaking. What is you liberals are always yelling? Where there is smoke there is fire? Yep. So take your grammar school knowlegde of the law and stay in your little town. We need not hear your nutty ideas here.

Steve Frisch

You did not answer the question Todd, why is my analysis grammar school but dirt movers, George (he of multiple security clearances once upon a time) and Greg's valid?

As far as your critique of Truckee is concerned...besides being somewhat ridiculous...Truckee is a vibrant growing economy and community which is almost solely responsible for population, economic and residential growth in Nevada County...if one removed the Truckee statistics Nevada County would look like Lake County...we are an engine in the County because we get along well with each other and have been able to develop a common vision for the future of our community whereas the influence of your confrontational mindset has stalled progress in the rest of the County.

BTW, you do know what a yahoo is don't you?

Steve Frisch @ 6:52 am:
Guilty as charged!, , Steve. We all knew that before last November or even before last October. Everybody knew, Not one surprise. Still, better than the alternative. In fact, better than every alternative the Left had to offer. And it wasn't just us white rural voters (excluding you and Punchy) that voted for Trump. It was a bunch of voters from Sea to Shinning Sea that knew full well all about Trump and made a conscious deliberate decision to give him the keys to the bus. This was not an accident. We did it on purpose.
We are all guilty. All 60 million of us. Bad, beery berry bad people. It all got down to SCOTUS, SCOTUS, SCOTUS, not Identiy Politics. Go figure. And putting immigrant rights ahead of US citizen rights, and Big Bro getting too big for his his britches and, of course, putting My Gal into the wood chipper head first. That last one was just for hoots and hollers.

Steve, I am so glad you posted early. Punchy always had to sleep it off first. Rise and shine. The early bird gets the worm. Very refreshing. I like your style. Good job.
Now, if you could have just convinced all those gun toting Bible Thumping bitter clingers and those despicable Deplorables and all those in-bred Irredeemables to have voted for My Gal, this whole dialogue would be a moot point.

Or, you can take a page from the new self appointed Leader of the Resistant (Onward Together) and blame her (your) defeat on Comey and Vladimir Putin and the Democratic National Committee and Wikileaks and “a thousand Russian agents” and high expectations and the press and sexism and voter suppression and, for all I know, static cling. That’s great for persistence and mental well-being. But it’s not so great for knowing when to quit.

Face it? Oh Steve, rest assured we have. Guilty as charged. We have been naughty children and should be punished by the Enlightened Ones like you. We did the bad thang...knowingly. and without a shed of remorse.

Bill Tozer

Come on Todd, Truckee is a nice place. Haven't stopped off there in a few years, but it seemed nice on a beautiful summer day. At least what I saw from the freeway. And they had a round-dee-bout before the other side of Donner Party Cookout Mountain did. It's all good and some thrive on the cold. And thank goodness we are not Lake County....a county that is quite similar to Nevada County in demographics and a thousand points of light.

Now Steve, things have changed. The USSR was a bunch of control freak Commie Bastards that attacked Christians and percuted Jews and had a monopoly on the press and tried to control what people thought and said.....kinda like what is happening in academia today. Very repressive. Horrible.
I can understand why you guys are so pissed off at the Russia of today. You just never will forgive them from getting rid of Communism, now will you guys? Ok, to each his own. It bares repeating that Lindsey Graham noted that Bernie honeymooned in the USSR and never left. It also bares noting that the difference between a pizza and Venezuela is that a pizza can feed a family. But I digress.

So, you are putting all your hopes on Trump just giving up and quitting? Okie-Dokie. Well, Punchy had been saying that often and with increased frequency.

Steve, do you know why we don't have The Wall? Cause the Republicans in power don't want it. Same with a balanced budget and a myriad of issues. Dems don't want Trump, R's don't want Trump. Trump is just there all by his lonesome, one solitary man with a Twitter Machine. But, we have been there countless times before. After Gold Star Khan thang,, after Pussy Grabbing, after Bromance with Putin, after....after....well, it's been that way all along. I personally did not object to Trump mocking that disabled reporter. Afterall, it's not like NYT press or the other Fakenews reporters are human or something. They belong in the zoo or in some biology lab to be dissected and studied for scientific inquiry. Geeze. But I digress yet again.
The only thing between Trump and the rabid Pro-Lifer Soft Spoken Christian White Conservative Pence being sworn in prematurely is us Deplorables. No RINO Republican or Democrat or Establishment type or Progressive or politician can stomach him. But, we horrid Deplorables and Irredeemables got his back....and that it appears to be all it takes so far.
Trump is going to fold up his tent and move on? Just up and quit? Sure, pin your hopes on that one. Punchy does. A sure bet if I ever seen one. Okie-Dokie.

"do you realize how ridiculous you all look arguing over whether or not the memo was legally released, as opposed being appalled at the content of the memo"

Which is a different situation than the leaking of the DNC records, no doubt.

The amount of cherry-picking I see makes these screeds fun to read, but not of much value.

The central truth is this. We now live in a new age of surveillance, so you'll have to get used to your Lords and Masters not being clean as a whistle. Just imagine a microphone placed in an LBJ or JFK White House running 24/7. I'll pass on the vision of Obama on a discrete held cellphone at the Man's Country bathhouse if you don't mind.

Yeah, sure, "it was probably just a WH oversight".....and I have some beachfront property in Arizona for sell ya.

George Rebane

It continues to be remarkable how sheltered some of our leftwing neighbors are as they chide those here debating the legality of releasing Comey's memos along with Congress and most of the country's divers analysts and the well-read public. One wonders how constrained are their inputs if they believe that only we "yahoos" in these foothills consider such a release to be a substantive national issue.

Todd Juvinall

Steve Frisch | 10 June 2017 at 07:36 AM

Becasuese they are smarter and brighter than you. Accept it Stevie. You really are not that intelligent and if Comey used your legal smarts he would be up the river for life.

Truckee is a wide sot in the road and nt very pretty like the towns in the western county. That is just a fact. The reason there is anything going on is the developers of the differnt subdivisions. They took many years and paid a lot of extortion to eco groups to get their rights. Just look at what your pals (maybe you as well) are doing to the expansion requests of Sqaw Valley. Trump yesterday showed us a 70 pound stack on paper from a EIR for a road in Maryland. $29,000 a page. 29 million bucks. For a road! Anyway, your ilk does this all the time to extort money. So the houses have to behuge and expensive that even tgose employees of your SBC must llive in hovels.

I will put the credibility of my well read sources against your well read sources any day. In your original post you clearly conflated conversation with 'privileged' which it is not unless the President claims executive privilege; you used clearing the room as an indication of 'privileged and confidential' when in reality it was an egregious breach of protocol on communications between a President and the point person investigating his former NSA; you characterized as government property something that clearly according to the vast majority of legal scholars is not; you characterized that document as classified when it clearly is not and there is no indication that it is; you characterized release of that document as a 'leak' when it was not classified which all legal scholars agree is the definition of a 'leak'; and you claim superior knowledge due to your previous status as a person holding a security clearance while completely misrepresenting the rules around the handling of the information.

"Comey had the conversation with President Trump while he was a federal employee. Why did it escape Comey?"--George

Don Bessee

Where did the eco warrior get the idea that the AG is recused from the Comey leak? Talk about wild ass wishing it were so. ;-)

Steve Frisch

This whole Truckee thread is hilarious.

Truckee is thriving. You know it, the readers here know it, the County knows it, and the numbers prove it. Almost all job and economic growth in the county has occurred in the last 15 years in the eastern County. As I stated earlier the reason for that is clear...we like each other and get along and our political culture is collaborative. I love the western county, and could not agree with you more that you have charming towns and landscapes, interesting people, and real amenities. It really is a shame that you can't get your stuff together and leverage that for the economic growth and opportunity that it should and could be driving.

Steve Frisch

Posted by: Don Bessee | 10 June 2017 at 10:39 AM

So first, again not a leak because the memo was not classified and privilege was not claimed....but the memos have gone to Mueller as part of the Russia investigation and that is a matter of public record, and Sessions recused himself from the Russian investigation.

Todd Juvinall

Oh like all liberals you take others success as your own. I am well versed on the eco groups extortions of developers in the Martis and around the town. You guys are more successful than the madia. Millions change hands and it is "legal".

Funny how the eco's say they are all about the pristine areas yet like whores will sell their souls for some bucks. It is too unny if it wasn't so sad.

Paul Emery

George

Can you point me to one example of criminal action against any government employee of former employee? that matches the criteria for illegality that you ascribe to Comey and his so called leaks? Case law refrences are ok. That will put some meat on your argument. Right nit it's just another example of "George says"

George Rebane

PaulE 1051am - "... just another example of "George says"" - sadly Paul, that remark strongly indicates that you are one of those sheltered local leftwingers that I described in my 933am. As a newsman, you should know that my 452pm interpretation is anything but "just another example ...".

Paul Emery

George it is indeed your interpretation and an articulate one at that. I'm asking if there are real examples to illustrate your view of a very technical legal matter. We went through this with your view of health care. When i asked you for real examples you responded by saying it is only your opinion and there were none and it didn't matter because it was just your opinion. . I'm wondering if this is a similar situation. A couple of examples that I could look at is all I'm asking for.

Gregory

And now for something completely different
