Please clarify for this dummy. Does this affect A zoning as well? A or AR meaning agriculture the primary use, residential secondary? RA put in the same category as A? The word ‘exclusive’ threw me.
I like my quiet neck on the woods......but 3 parcels sold last year in rapid succession in my vicinity after zero real estate action after all these years. Glad I bought the adjoining parcel to keep the pot heads from ever living next door...the side which is closest to my humble abode. Not all houses are centered in the middle of a parcel. :)
Hope the newbees ain’t thinking “commercial” grows (they are, at least one or two of the 3 are.). There goes the neighborhood. Even off the beaten path, there had been more break ins in this next of the woods just since late last summer alone than there has been for at least the previous 5 years or more combined. ....which were just one every blue moon or less often....until the real estate sales, break-ins here were but one or two every few years. Break-ins like taking sledge hammers to front doors and hauling off heavy stuff, then coming back for more...all recently and since the parcels sold.

Putting commercial grows in RA is opening a can of worms, IMHO. And that does not even affect me, I am a straight up zoned A, not RA or AR. My heart is saddened for those who bought their little houses in the woods to seek peace and quiet.

Russ

There were multiple reasons for moving from Nevada County to Dell Web in Lincoln Hills. Two were to escape the smell of pot growing next door, and the threat of a criminal choosing the wrong house when breaking in, thinking we were the growers. The grower was a nurse next door, who was growing medical MJ for all the residence in the care facility where she worked. At one time she had 99 plants we could see on Google Earth. That is until the Sheriff showed up and then the grown went inside a small greenhouse attached to the home. With the new regulations, the nurse could increase the acres under cultivation. The CC&Rs keep the pot gardens out of Lincoln Hills, reducing the need to keep a loaded 12 gage pump next to the bed.

Paul Emery

So much for the Conservatives opposition to government regulations. I guess that doesn't apply to things they want regulated.

Todd Juvinall

Sure whatever you say. But I do think we should regulate the murder of people by others. What say you Paul Emery?

jon smith

PE 12:33- Republicans feel vulnerable (ouch, can't use that word any more) because some young hippy might grow a plant that turns out to be transgender (Ouch, slap my hand for use the banned word), sprouts some male flowers and pollinates (can I say that?) the females and said hippy uses his science-based (Oh darn said some more banned words) education to guide him into ripping out the offending plant. He gets mad and starts yelling the other "F" word (fetus) but said Republicans snowflake children can't cover their eyes and ears fast enough to avoid hearing the word or seeing the dread plant flying through the air. Fortunately said hippy had the brains to have diversity (Sh*t, said another banned word) in his crop so that not all became trans . . .

"So much for the Conservatives opposition to government regulations. I guess that doesn't apply to things they want regulated." Yeah, like words.

Walt

But Paul.. It just that "local control" you always speak highly of.
Now you complain?

Scenes from the Apocalypse

meh. 100 years ago, most of your neighbors had a chicken coop in the backyard. Barking dogs can be 10x the problem (which the government will do nothing about). It'll solve itself when the value of marijuana drops to zero.

Paul Emery

All for local control Walt. Just pointing out the irony that it's largely the Conservatives that are asking for more strict land use regulations in this matter.

Walt

Your bitching Paul. You only do that when it's against something you care about getting "controlled" And DRUG manufacturing no less.
Still not enough regulations on dope for my liking.

Todd Juvinall

Funny how he wants all Americans to turn their bodies over to the government healthcare but then wants to grow smelly ganja next door without rules.

jon smith

Walt 1:23- Google "children see marijuana plants" and after reading the first 2,000 hits of so, please come back and tell me that MANY Republicans aren't couching their no-grow arguments from the point of view that their children will sustain some sort of psychological damage if they can see MJ plants. Many are pushing for child endangerment laws to be enforced when their children can see a marijuana plant growing from Miss Emma's tomato garden 50 yards away. I use the term snowflake to describe these overly protected children who, in the parent's mind, might catch a faint in the presence of a weed (little do Ma and Pa tea Kettle know that their saintly brood are hot boxing before going to church).

Walt

Paul. Pro dope is good enough to be branded "hippie".
BTW. Still have that ponytail?

"A hippie (or hippy) is a member of a counterculture, originally a youth movement that started in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread to other countries around the world. The word hippie came from hipster and was initially used to describe beatniks . The term hippie was first popularized in San Francisco by Herb Caen, who was a journalist for the San Francisco Chronicle."
Well,, add Nevada City to that.
Now you can get back to your "down with the establishment!" now that Repubs are the "establishment". Not a peep when DEMS have been running things all these years.

Walt

jon.. Screw google. But I do admit you have a point about the "optics". Yes, I do know one or two with that perspective.

So then how do you explain ME?? ( This should be good) Let's see if you have been paying attention.

jon smith

Walt- I don't know. What does ME stand for?

The NyQuil bottles are clinking in the trash can next to my bed. Think it's time to give the internet a rest and try to get some myself. Spent more time on-line in the past few days than I have in a year. I can't imagine how people like Todd can live on his computer 24x7

Walt

Under the weather jon? Get well soon. It REALLY sucks.
That "ME",, refers to "me" myself, and I.
Since you are under the influence of 40 proof medication, I understand.
I'm a "no" doper too.
Yet I have probabbly "consumed" my weight and yours in weed in my life. Those days are over. I know what it does to the body and mind.
Legalizing it was a REAL stupid idea. All for the idea of easy money "for all".
That will become evident soon enough.

Paul Emery

Walt writes

Paul. Pro dope is good enough to be branded "hippie".

Well I guess that means over half the residents, 29,342to 26,083, of Nevada County voters are Hippie Walt because that was the vote supporting Prop 64 which legalized Recreational MJ in California.

Walt

Some good news,,,, if you live in Hawaii.
http://dailycaller.com/2017/12/08/cannabis-card-carriers-no-longer-forced-to-give-up-guns-in-hawaii/
Now when does the petitions start to make that happen here?

Bonnie McGuire

Hahaha....It's too funny that we aren't hearing the enviro watchdogs complaining about dead skunk air pollution....

Walt

Bonnie. Nor the runoff from over fertilized grows, the poison that's put out to kill critters,.. No,, we don't hear those gripes.

Russ

Walt and Bonnie. We do not hear about the environmental destruction for the same reason we do not hear about the fried birds at solar plants and the millions of birds and bats killed by wind turbines as it does not support the "Agenda!"

Paul Emery

Russ

I'm sure Don can attest to this but there was lots of time during the CAG process allotted to the environmental damage caused by unregulated cannabis cultivation. The hopes are that due to the strong emphasis placed on licensing and inspections that this won't be a problem with regulated cultivation. Much time was spend on this process.

Bob you say "ignoring many comments that were submitted from the public. " I was there for all of the meetings of CAG and very few members of the public spoke out with those concerns How were these comments submitted and does the public have access to them?

jon smith

Russ 11:00
"We do not hear about the environmental destruction . . ."

I guess you need to listen before you can hear.
example - http://yubariver.org/issues/cannabis/

Each March the local enviro NGOs host a two day forum devoted entirely to preventing environmental damage by pot growers. It is supported and attended by state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies. Cannabis concerns are prominently discussed in most of the local NGO news letters and on their websites.

Todd Juvinall

Update.

Paul Emery reregistered last June to libertarian. Now I thought he said he was always one? Another fib from the fake news guy.

SYRCL uses a porny picture I see. Well, if they were concerned about pot growers maybe they all should stop smoking the crap.

Paul Emery

Voted libertarian last 8 years . That's what matters'

Weird guy Todd somehow finds time to chart voter records of those whom he disapproves of. I will not converse with him again. Weird guy who likes to brag about the size of his dangler in public statements. Should be banished from this blog.

Don Bessee

Double pinky promise ya po' ol' fakenewsman @241! ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery re-registered as a libertarian last June. The voter rolls say so. So I suggest he is hiding something. What could it be? Oh, he was until last June a democrat. Took about three minutr=tes ro find that out. What should I do with the other 23 hours and 57 minutes of the day?

And please Paul Emery, leave my private parts alone. You are one sicko dude.

Walt

Paul. I do believe your pal "Cartman" plays the same game. Yet you only bitch here.

Don Bessee

Inferiority issues @ 345? ;-)

Walt

Paul would need counselling if he was on any given construction site for one day. The talk of women and the conquests of them,,, well,, you get the idea.

Bill Tozer

“Should be banished from this blog.”

Libertarians are the last people on earth to call for censorship of any kind, be it spoken words, written word, or any material.... But, the Dems call for censorship all day long, from the campuses to the public square to the private sector.

Boy, Todd, joking around about your Patriot Missle really stuck in the censor’s squirrel cage. How many days in a row has he mentioned your penis at least twice? How many years must go by without Punchy bringing it up time and time again? Talk about free rent I. Someone’s noggin. Good job, Mr. Todd. That really one really put the Dope on the Ropes down on the canvas.
He probably was thinking about it at the HH fundraiser at the Miner’s Foundry yesterday and ran over here afterwards to get it off his chest. Yo Punchy, don’t let your meat loaf, don’t let your hot dog stand, don’t let.....ahh, forget it, Paul Ruebens.

Todd, Punchy wants you banished from this site. Fortunately, the one who yields the ax is not some homely talentless wannabe, but our handsome, tolerate, long suffering, gracious, and extremely brilliant host.....the very talented and intelligent Dr. Rebane.

The tyrannical Lefties are always, first and foremost, control freaks. Their water carriers suffer from the same need to control. They, ironically, are controlled by their need to control. What you sow is what you reap. Sweet Justice.

Now, let’s get back to the dopers in diapers. Shave or grow, stay or go?

Bill Tozer

The squeaking parrot keeps bringing up the same quote year after year, month after month, week in, week out. Whether he has the quote in his favorites or has it memorized, it matters not. What does matter is it is certainly quite creepy behavior. And true to form, Punchy said it was too creepy for him at this site, see ya creeps, good night...just last night or the night before. Newflash: the feeling is mutual, creep. At least the other Paul, Paul Ruebens, had tons of talent and was only one of the countless bunch caught in a sex scandal to keep his hands to himself.

Todd Juvinall

I say goodbye to creepy Paul Emery as well. He has a obsession and it is not healthy at all.

Bill Tozer

Growing ordinance. Anybody know what the penalty is if the dispensary (or 3) gets caught selling product that is not verified and certified coming exclusively from a State licensed commercial grow?? Might be worth watching who comes in the back door and what they are bringing in.

BTW, come Jan1, 2018 all dispensers will be selling herb that has not come from a State licensed commercial grow. The State departments are closed that day. There will be some lag time in getting licensed.

Paul Emery

George

This post expressed the ideas of Bob Hren, Nevada County Republican Chairman, on questions of Cannabis cultivation in accordance with new state laws. what are your ideas on the topic?

George Rebane

PaulE 1126am - I have written about MMJ and RMJ for over ten years. Just type in 'marijuana' into the search box above left, and enjoy.

Don Bessee

You have to forgive the po' ol' fakenewsmans memory issues Dr. R, it goes hand in hand with the comprehension issues and repetitive questions. KVMR may need to put a gps tracker on him so they can find him when they need him! ;-)

Paul Emery

Just got a clarification that the "guidelines" that led to the alert by Bob Hren that were also published by the union were misrepresented as the final recommendations by the CAG. They are just a starting point for discussion and are on the far end of the spectrum and in no way will reflect he final decision. I read the union article as well and came to the same conclusions that Bob did that these were extremely generous recommendations supporting growing quantities. Anyway tomorrow the CAG group will decide on final rules which will be far different than those characterized in the Union

Paul Emery

I followed your suggestion George and came up with this quote that seems to be your summary concerning Marijuana use, distribution and sales

"For years I straddled the fence on the legalization of drug use, especially seemingly benign versions like marijuana. Then I finally got off the fence in favor of making the whole catalog of drugs legal since the war on drugs was not being won, and the collateral damage from the conflict took a horrendous toll on lives and freedoms (more here). I cast my lot with those who counseled legalizing drugs, controlling their distribution at prices that made no one rich, and mopping up the human detritus pretty much as we already do with alcohol and illegal drug use."

This was somewhat qualified with concerns later in your post but the general belief is consistent with personal discussions we have had on the matter.

http://rebaneruminations.typepad.com/rebanes_ruminations/2013/07/mindbending-marijuana.html

Don Bessee

So now the po' ol' fakenewsman is reminding the good Dr. of what he said as if Dr. R somehow forgot. We do however now know who did actually forget. ;-)

Paul Emery

That was Georges recommendation in his 4:42 post

Paul Emery

that is to go back and read his previous posts which I did,

Todd Juvinall

Sure smells like a ten ton skunk up in my neighborhood.

Paul Emery

George

Any idea why so few of the constituents appealed to by Bob Hren failed to show up or participate in the public input process of the Community Advisory Group? Even Don Bessee, who claims to represent that group bailed after a few minutes of the meeting and missed several important position votes that will be presented to the BOS along with the CAG recommendations.

George Rebane

PaulE 1116am - Have no idea, and wasn't aware of the attendance you report. But I do know that the local Republicans don't yet understand how and where on the internet they need to get their message out. Many of them still think that their 'institutional' websites are sufficient forums for informing people, answering questions, and debating the issues. Note that Mr Hren has deigned not to join our discussion. Perhaps DonB and ToddJ can lend a thought or two.

Paul Emery

George

I think this is important because the CAG process was set up by the Board of Supervisors to include as much community input as is necessary to make decisions on this subject. Those with concerns were not in abundant attendance at the 9 public meetings that were held reflecting what seems to be a lack in interest in the subject.
