What Democratic policy is that you refer to, George, or is this just another of your cryptic allusions (snark)? No one is forcing those people to migrate. Whatever that policy is, I would say it is actually working out quite well for CA. Which state has the strongest economy in the nation, CA, Alabama, Kansas, Ohio, or some other backward red(neck) state that voted for trump? The austerity experiment, fed to gullible braindead tea party politicians by Alec and other right wing billionaire funded think tanks, is a total failure. It's all about cutting services from the public (that they pay for with their taxes) and giving the money to those who have an insatiable lust for wealth and power. On the other hand, CA continues to prosper, especially without the dead weight people moving to Texas. In fact, I would suggest that those disgruntled righties who seem to grouse because CA isn't a red(neck) state and doesn't do things like Michigan would be happier migrating to a state (or country like Russia) more suitable to their beliefs. High taxes, strict environmental regulations, etc. are just part of the cost of doing business in CA. If people don't like it they are free to leave.

Bill Tozer

Oh Bobbie, play that endless loop again and put it on Twitter. You must have your speech on file to pull out and paste while pulling the cowbeds out of your ears. Kinda bad timing to be bashing on the Tea Party.
“Knock knock” asks Trump on the phone in the Oval Office.
“Who’s there”, asks Hillary in rely.
“Not you”, answers Trump and all them Deplorables.

Not a good time to be bashing on people fleeing to Texas and how wonderful the CA business climate is. CA create 800 Jobs last month? Best to put that speech away until the timing is better.

Yes, folks are free to leave. Problem is they haven’t. They promised to move to Canada and are still here! New Zealand is a nice place, Justice Ginsberg. Somebody nudge her and wake her up. Don’t think she heard me.

Not a good time to be bashing on out links. Who fact checks the fact checkers? You? OMG, the Daily Daily Wire!!! Red alert, red alert. Psst, Bobbie. Daily Signal is better. Daily Caller ain’t bad.

RobertC 928am - Nothing cryptic nor snarky in my 615pm; only reference to a well-documented outmigration from CA that is due to the sum total of decades of Dem control of the state's public policies which have now gone beyond the tipping point for thousands of CA families. Since your 610pm crowed about getting rid of the state's "riffraff" as an intended consequence of what has gone on before, it is natural to conclude that this was an intended overarching Dem policy. I give this to you and yours as a compliment; else we must also view such outmigration as one of the most recent in a long string of Democrat fuck-ups. Hope this helps.

Todd Juvinall

What I see happening in California is this. The rich liberals have banded together in the cities and refuse to allow affordable housing so it is unnecessary to build a high fence around them. The rest of the state is leaving as they are unable to afford it. The vacumn is filled by illegals. And we now see the rich liberals importing their nannies and gardeners and feces cleaners into the compounds called San Francisco etal. So the rich liberals can stay as long as those illegals don't invade their citadels.LOL!

Bill Tozer

The Left is a violent bunch. That’s the facts of life.

There have been no right-wing groups storming campuses and flinging feces at speakers we don’t like; no tea party mobs destroying property, assaulting police officers, and paralyzing our major cities; and no Republican senators calling their colleagues murderers just weeks after a political assassination attempt.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/commentary/ct-liberals-antifa-violence-20170718-story.html

It takes a strange act of the mind to overlook leftist violence in the American present and recent past. It’s as if attributing deep hate to right-leaning people was a drug. An obvious addict is Bill Moyers, the former LBJ operative who’s made a career out of sanctimonious exposes of conservative wrath. A few years ago, he spoke of how “Conservative Talk Radio Incites Domestic Terrorism & Hate” and last year during the campaign he warned,

“Trump and his ilk would sweep the promise of America into the dustbin of history unless they are exposed now to the disinfectant of sunlight, the cleansing torch of truth. Nothing else can save us from the dark age of unreason that would arrive with the triumph of Donald Trump.”

Whether it’s real (the softball shooter) or make-believe (Kathy Griffin), liberal violence in contemporary America is a fact. It would seem to be a natural focus for Moyers’ campaign against political hatred. But at his web site one can only find brief notices of the shooting in Alexandria that emphasize the bipartisan nature of wrath in the United States, citing another story on “potential incitement of political violence by Democrats and Republicans, the right and the left,” as well as a population research finding that “Republicans and Democrats were indistinguishable in their support for political violence.”

This all sounds like a cross-political appeal to reason, but in truth, it’s an effective way to push the liberal-peace and conservative-violence meme. When a lunatic with right-wing opinions goes on a rampage, it says something about the essence of conservatism. When a lunatic with left-wing opinions acts, it summons forth bipartisan expressions of civility. Conservative hate is conservative, but liberal hate isn’t liberal at all.

Republicans and conservatives should recognize the across-the-divide call for unity as a hustle.

WOW!!! Who knew Abraham Lincoln was a Commie!
http://dailycaller.com/2018/07/21/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-slavery-democrats/

Socialist congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seemed to compare Democrats winning elections to the abolition of slavery during a Kansas campaign speech Friday.

“I learned that Kansas was founded over the struggle of the conscience of this nation,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Wichita crowd of over 4,000 people, as reported by Breitbart. “It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be as a country. It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be with the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The people who were … leading this nation said, ‘You decide’ to the people.”

“‘Are we going to be a slave state or are we going to be a free state?’ And it was in 1861 that the people of Kansas decided that we were going to be a free nation,” she continued. “Back then, the people of Kansas were the tipping point for the future of this nation. Today, they are again.”

Makes sense to me. If Halloween customers are banned for being offensive (like toss that big sombrero in the closet or those Indian headdressesa d cowboy hats into the vast dust bin of history), then it is only logical that we ban certain actors and actresses from playing certain roles. Just like Halloween, acting is but pretending to be somebody else for a brief period, is it not? And to think Charles Bronson was Polish and his body carved out of a mountain. He could never get those roles today.

Don and Fish concerning My Gal’ in her moo-moo.

Aha. Halloween is on topic today. Who would have thunk? Many moons ago, I arrived at a private Halloween Party drunkfest in a unusual costume, cheap and easy.. I put on an old well worn moo moo, put zinc oxide on my nose and smeared it on my cheek under the eyes, put my beard in those big plastic curlers. threw on a shower cap and grabbed a toilet brush as a prop. As the party progressed, several younger hot Hollywood type young ladies dressed as French Maids or Elvira, Princess of the Dark (and the like), cozied on up to me and asked what I was supposed to be. Standing there looking like that pic of Hillary but with curlers in the beard and sideburns, I replied, “You, in about 30 years.”, waving the til.et brush. Needless to same some folks have no sense of humor.

Gotta feel sorry for My Gal. Folks said she was showing no passion, no fire in the belly. So, Hillary starts going the Rousing Speech Delivery thing building to an impassioned crescendo, and immediately the Deplorables like moi, the Anybody But Clinton crowd and the Bernie Bros start doing the Screetch Meter on her, with ratings from 4 to off the charts. Man, I was never so happy to have Trump stand on her neck and crush her larynx. Fortunately or unfortantuately. Trump showed mercy and did not completely crush her voice box. But, at least the screeching went bye-bye. Moo moos are cool.

You go Prez, yo go! Self interest of the allies is a reliable coin of the realm -

But Trump is now officially on currency watch. Yesterday in a CNBC interview he said the Chinese currency is "dropping like a rock." And he took the opportunity to talk down the dollar.
The Treasury Secretary is typically from whom you hear commentary about the dollar. And historically, the Treasury's position has been "a strong dollar" is in the countries best interest. But Trump clearly doesn't play by the Washington rule book. So he promoted his view on the dollar (at least his view for the moment)--and it may indeed swing market sentiment.

The dollar was broadly lower today. We'll see if that continues. If so, it may neutralize the moves of China in the near term. Nonetheless, the U.S./China spat is reaching a fever pitch. Someone will have to blink soon. Trump has already threatened to tax all Chinese imports. The biggest risk from China would be a big surprise one-off devaluation. As we discussed yesterday, that would stir up a response from other big trading partners (i.e. Europe and Japan). And they may coordinate, in that scenario, a threat to block trade from China all together.

I tried to explain to a libertarian friend of mine that I'm not particularly interested in sitting down for a polite conversation with people who literally want to take away my right to control my own body and who think that people of color and LGBT people are not fully people. Just no.
-------------

Darn Libertarians, always trying to control peoples' bodies and put LGBTLMNOP people in camps.

Seriously, I think it's a thing that they (Team L) don't really appreciate. They're fated to be put up against the same wall as the Proud Boys when mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, regardless of good intentions.

Seriously, Scenes? Do you really think Team L doesn't "Appreciate" the dangers inherent in Progressives Gone Wild!?

Perhaps it's Conservatism that has their eyes wide shut... considering where Conservatives have been getting their new and good ideas.

scenes

Gregory@1:18AM

This is only a case where I can speak from personal experience. I think that a lot of the Libertarians I have known would be genuinely surprised by how they are lumped in with Team Red, who in turn aren't particularly miffed with them.

It's kind of ironic given that the great issue of the age seems to be open borders/mass immigration, and reading this:

https://www.lp.org/issues/immigration/

there appears to be more agreement than not between (L) and (D).

scenes

"Perhaps it's Conservatism that has their eyes wide shut"

As a side note, it appears to me that Conservatism is finding itself in one of those eras where it is being redefined. Some people will jump off the new wagon, some will jump on.

I need to consider what a manifesto for such a change might be just so I can build an internal model for the thing.

Only for appearances sake.....

Libertarians seem to think that immigrants will settle down and become beneficial low cost entrepreneurs, and economic producers fearful, coming from places with oppressive governments, of the omnipotent state. Indeed this is the Reason.com argument!

The left is more practical. They see the immigrant community as a vessel into which all of their complaints and the "isms" that they cherish can be poured and refreshed at the ballot box (this is the one topic where our Green Libertarian™ absolutely will not go even after being challenged about it on numerous occasions) a new horde of meatspace Team D lever pullers!

“it appears to me that Conservatism is finding itself in one of those eras where it is being redefined.”

Gregory and Fish: Don’t matter what you think, stand for, or your core libertarian principles. Same with conservatives. The unfortunate fact and present danger is that we have been “redefined” by others. There is a gap between L and what what outsiders have labeled you or what herd they have placed you in.

My two cents on Libertarians.

I always considered parts of me as a closet Libertarian under the Don’t Tread on Me banner. Live and let live stuff. Always considered Libertarians cool and points of intersectionality with Thomas Jefferson. I part ways with, say a John Strossel, when it comes to legalizing heroin (or meth?). Maybe decriminalize for the user, but bust the pusher man. I part ways with some Libertarians on defense, as hellish the thought of invading foreign countries with lethal force and creating war zones out of civilian areas.

With the above disclaimers out of the way and thinking Libertarians are well and fine, I used to frequent a Libertarian page called the The Discontented Libertarian or a name like that. Like my Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children kind of name., but shorter and gentler. Anyway, it was a real eye opener for me.

The posts were good, thoughtful in a calm presentation, with a some memes and drawings. Nice FB Page. The eye opener? It was the comments. Not the rage and hate from the far left twitter mob, but from what I would call loyalists to the Democrat Party, long time Dems, Friends of Bill and Hillary types. Like a Darrell Berkheimer, not a flamer type.
Anywho, I read the comments and they in their snobbish condescension, labeled you guys as anarchists. And definitely were looking down their noses at Libertarians.
A typical comment would be “I walk in to the Post Office, which I did not build. I walk across tiled floors that I did not pay for. I see paint on walls I did not paint. You did not build this. I did not built this. So, you are saying you do not the want government to do anything? Are you saying your taxes should not pay for....”.

Yep, that site got outnumbered 20-1. It was a big eye opener to me cause I thought everybody kind of got along with Libertarians, at least not to the point of mocking or animus. Didn’t see the Bernie Bros in there much or right wingers. Ok, maybe a Bernie Bro or two would pass through to go after them on Wall Street Money Ho Hillary, but not a lot. It was the Dems going after the Libertarians. Hillary People. Mainstream. Go figure. We are defined by others even when we it out there first. In fact, I am busy redefining ALL those Mainstream Dems ike Boardman as part of Maxie Waters’s Red Karma brigades. Or OC airheads. Broadbrush paints the board in both directions. :)

Guns and abortions are about the same as marijuana. You can ban them, but it won't prevent them. The size of guv'mint is tricky. I like my social security and medicare. It would be nice if everyone could have them, but how would you ever control the cost? Trumpublicans are right to grow the economy at a faster pace than the Democrats, but I suspect military spending will eat up most of the dough that should go to the national debt. Immigration shouldn't be so complicated to solve. Make the pathway to citizenship clear. Let the Dreamers be first in line. No voting or benefits until applied for citizenship. Clear enough? The response was directed at me by name, did not address the broader content, chose instead to address one minor sub-point of the case made by the WEF, pointed out a spelling error as an implied critique, and included the statement , “…a steaming heap of self serving crap …” without backing up your opinion with any cited sources, references or even a logical train of thought.

I was banished as I stood up against the personal attacks from the libs and Crabb. Such a child in a old man's shriveled body. LOL! Crabb's "cartoons" are really hurting for humor. Did he stop drinking or something?

"I like my social security and medicare. It would be nice if everyone could have them, but how would you ever control the cost?"

What makes you think the costs are controllable even if restricted to the old and in the way generations? Mediscare is running out of money as we speak, and Social Insecurity is a decade or so behind. IIRC, the SS payments are already dipping into the non-existent Trust Fund, the accounting fiction that is the accumulated surplus of money paid in vs money paid out and spent elsewhere, and so rather than papering over deficit spending from the general fund, it's accelerating the deficit and national debt out in the open.

Time for another phoney-baloney fix to the "pact between generations", which is at its heart more akin to a feudal promise of a vassal to his lord and master, that binds him and his descendants to sucking up to the liege Lord in perpetuity.

I am shocked, shocked I say -

Either way, it doesn’t seem to be affecting left-wing accounts. Tariq Nasheed, a black supremacist and self-described “identity extremist,” is not subject to any filter, according to shadowba.eu. Neither is Louis Farrakhan, the left-wing black supremacist and anti-semite. Nor are hate-filled, obscenity-spewing left-wing celebrities like Peter Henry Fonda

NOT! ;-)

Speaking of guns and banishment......well, just pick up your marbles and walk away. The last election in our history? Oh my, such hyperbole.

Yep. Impossible to please ideologues. Do I have to do a term paper annotated with sources and links to satisfy your curiosity, Professor Todd? It's so difficult to get through that bigoted skull.
You'll just have to go on labeling me as the enemy, which doesn't bother me at all. I get a lot of it from the left as well, but on Facebook where I have a larger and more diverse audience. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised to find that some aren't as liberal as you might think.
Oh, there are some who demand loyalty to the cause, dumping the Trump. I'll never please them either.
And Greggy, I'm not sorry I blocked you. Your inability to let anyone but yourself to have the last word was your downfall. After fifty or so responses to anything Steve Frisch says, it just becomes endlessly redundant.
And Todd, I just don't like you. You're too bigoted, especially toward gay people. And your last comment (that didn't make it past purgatory) about Anthony Bourdain being a coward for commiting suicide shows me just lacking in empathy you are for anything that isn't wrapped in a flag.

What we say and how Crabb thinks....

https://desertdemocrat.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/gary-larson-far-side-cartoon-what-we-say-to-dogs-blah-blah-ginger.jpeg

Crabby has made it clear he thinks the "geniuses of the left and right" need to open their other eye, the blind one, so they can see the other side of the argument and come to a conclusion in the middle, where he can nod in agreement. This keeps Earl from having to think it through and take a side on something. Lest you think that an exaggeration, here it is:
http://www.rlcrabb.com/history-2/the-half-blind-leading-the-half-blind/

Time and time again, I'd be subjected to ugly attacks by his old Best Friend Forever Chris Peterson (as reality challenged as Doug Keachie), Frisch and mandersonation, and I had to pull my counterpunches lest what happened would happen. I finally got tired of turning tail.

Todd Juvinall

Crabb 1205 says this "And Todd, I just don't like you. You're too bigoted, especially toward gay people. And your last comment (that didn't make it past purgatory) about Anthony Bourdain being a coward for commiting suicide shows me just lacking in empathy you are for anything that isn't wrapped in a flag. "

That is the difference between is Crabb. I don't like you because you are a hyper hypocrite. Regarding homosexuals? I could care less what they do with each other. It cracks me up that because I supported marriage between a man and a woman, that somehow makes you uncomfortable. Perhaps you harbor something only you know about? And I stand by my comments on Bourdain. Except now it appears he did not commit suicide. He was doing the "asphyxiation" sexual pleasure method and forgot to have an escape. So you can defend the man had left his child without a father and I will simply blast his carcass for it. And lastly, I am no bigot lkike you are. And you are a self-hater which says you are mentally ill. You need help Crabb, go get some.

Todd Juvinall

Oh and I don't moderate my blog. Even Frisch posts there sometimes. Pelline posts as anonymous but I know it is him. Crabb is just a chicken sh** and tries to make people think I boot him. Never have.

BillT: "Gregory and Fish: Don’t matter what you think, stand for, or your core libertarian principles. Same with conservatives. The unfortunate fact and present danger is that we have been “redefined” by others. "

That strikes me as a fair observation. Maybe the correct term is 'apostate'.

So, is it sufficient for a new social movement to arise by being rejected by another?

"And Greggy, I'm not sorry I blocked you. Your inability to let anyone but yourself to have the last word was your downfall. After fifty or so responses to anything Steve Frisch says, it just becomes endlessly redundant."

And so your exaggerations continue. It was your inability to choose to curb your BFF and Frisch.

Perhaps I quoted more than you could read in one sitting... would you agree with Frisch that this 335am comment of his has absolutely no personal insults?:

Steve Frisch says:

I almost added a caveat to this little essay, that I fully expected a small minded troll who views the world through a lens of self appointed intellectual superiority and a single minded jihadist focus on climate change, would find the spelling error. Oh, BTW, “worshiping at the altar of Smith…” wasn’t referring to you. I was really thinking way behind the tiny world of Goodknight.

I am amazed every time you comment at just how small you are.

Scenes 1248pm, apostasy fits. Only I chose to leave the Democratic Party... they redefined themselves apart from their founder, Thomas Jefferson and when I finally realized that and there was an alternative, I split.

Now, only if the Libertarian Party could get traction, or the Bernie Bro's/She Guevara's split off from the Democratic Party leaving the old party in a shambles.

This November will be interesting but not in my wildest dreams will it be a big step in the left direction by the Dem Party.

Todd Juvinall

Crabb, one more thing. It is truly rich that a "cartoonist" that makes fun of people all the time claims he is not a bigot. That is truly a eye opener.

“.At some point, the United States will cease to exist as we now know it, because there is no way to reconcile such diverse ideologies. A house divided cannot stand, ya know.”

That’s what the fuss is all about. Quote of the week: when you hear the Left cry out for civility, know it’s a hustle. That be where we are at today.

Clear as mud. The pathway to citizenship is pretty clear already, it's called US law.

The thing is, a statement like yours leaves out all the important stuff.

. Who should be able to become a US citizen?
. How many of them should there be?

How about "no voting or benefits" until AFTER citizenship is granted?

More in the clear as mud category... the parents who brought the "Dreamer" in illegally... does the "DREAMer" then pull in their parents who violated US law in the first place? I say no... make them take their place at the end of the line, with five or ten years before their number can even bubble up to the top.

scenes: My gran'pappy had to fill out the form, promise not to overthrow the government and learn the constitution. Being he was a miner, I suppose they thought he had a marketable skill. I don't know if he had a sponsor, but he did get in. He came from England, so it wasn't a question of asylum. He came to find a job.
I'm pretty sure that motivates most of those who come here. The mothers who try to get their kids away from the gangs and violence are thinking about their future. Do you really believe mothers would expose their families to a dangerous trek over a thousand miles just to get a welfare check? They can't apply for asylum until they get here, and then they're braking the law.
Todd: I have a great job. I sit down in front of a blank sheet of paper and make an image appear. It involves pointing out the foibles of human nature, many of which you suffer from. You try to do the same with your snarky comments and posts since you lack any artistic talent, so don't try to set yourself on a pedestal, bunky. What goeth around, cometh around.

Scenes 133pm

Why not suspend clearances when the job is left for any reason? It's a useless gesture. Having a clearance doesn't mean you can go browse at the Secrets Library and look at what you want. You still have to have a NEED TO KNOW. The two year bridge for the clearance being reopened just means that if you get into a position where you need to know there is only a minimal delay.

I knew an engineer at Hughes Aircraft in the '70's who made the mistake of giving DISCO the name of a family friend who had known him his entire life... only the Swiss was apparently German by birth and had been a Nazi party member. Oooops. That added months onto the time he needed to get the clearance so he could do the work he was hired to do.

Odd nobody is talking about Trump’s tweet to the Mullahs. That story got kicked down a lot of pegs. Very odd. Sure, the usual suspects like Morning Joe said that Trump is a weapononized virus made by Putin, but that’s normal. This tweet just don’t seem to have legs.

Ya think it’s cause they had just got done pulling out the huge guns and everything they had to blast Trump for being soft on Putin and not standing up for America? Guess it would look hypocritical if they geared up for the usual meltdown over the contents of the Iran tweet. Nope. Ain’t going to happen.
Not like when he told Little Rocketman he would rain down fire and brimstone like no country on earth has ever experienced, lol. Trump said he felt foolish doing that, but you can’t be saying that crap threatening us and all. We can put one right up your ass anytime.. Yep, that My Button is Bigger tweet spawned the Trump is certifiable crazy and keep the madman away from the nuclear football! Stop him. The 25th Amendment! Or was that the 15th Amendment? Oh my.

Odd, the story has been put to bed. It was a good tweet nonetheless.

re scenes 133pm - The two aspects of DOD security clearances are 1) classification level granted, and 2) access to classified materials at or below the granted classification. You get #1 after passing a background check, comprehensive to the level to be granted (for Top Secret and above, your friends and relatives will be observed, checked out, and interviewed. It is not uncommon for some of them to contact you afterwards asking what dastardly deed of yours brought on such an interview by the feds.) You get #2 on a 'need to know' basis which is a function of your job for which classified information is required. When the job is completed, your access to the relevant materials is automatically suspended without affecting your level of security clearance. To remove #1 is a serious matter and usually requires either a judicial or high level administrative action, and is always done for cause.

When the Comeys, Brennans, et al became private citizens, their access to classified materials should automatically have ended. And anyone subsequently making such materials available to them would themselves be guilty of a felony.
