Apropos to Gregory's 914am in the last sandbox, the Daily Caller reports the skyrocket rise of CCW permits across the land over the last ten years, and again confirms that national crime stats show CCW holders to be the most law-abiding citizens in America. Their misdemeanor and felony crime rates are one-sixth that of law enforcement officers, already a very law-abiding bunch. Now none of that makes no nevermind to progressives who purvey solutions to 'gun violence' by passing ever more laws and regulations designed to inhibit citizens' 2nd Amendment rights.

But as you can see, when Obama did it no one in the media cared."

I agree that stats show that CCW permit holders meet strict requirements and ave been shown to be responsible and lawful gun owners. That's a good argument to extend those requirements to ALL gun owners. Thanks for the verification that strict gun laws do work.

Paul at 11:38 - nice try, Paul. CCW permits are voluntary. And good luck getting one in Kalifornia.

Bill Tozer

Let’s see here. They can pass all the gun laws they wish. It don’t matter one lick because any and all gun laws do not apply to criminals. Criminals do not obey gun laws and they are the problem, not law abiding citizens, lol. That’s why they call them criminals. Law breakers. Not law adherents. They can pass all the immigration laws they wish. Does not apply to legal immigrants, just the illegals who don’t give a crap about the law. That’s why they are called illegals...not legal.
Gun laws only apply to law abiding citizens which are not the problem. Me thinks that Dougski is just upset that he cannot own a gun or get a concealed carry because it requires all applicants to check the box about drug use. Federal classification of drugs...dope. Wacky tobaccy users are not allowed to get guns. Dopers owning guns is against the law.

Hey Paul. Try your luck getting the thugs in American " fallujah" (Chicago) to follow your idea of gun laws.
Yaa... Those LIB gun laws are working great.

George Rebane

PaulE 1138am - The only thing we seem to be agreeing on is that CCW permits should continue to be awarded with no more requirements than those in effect today. As far as gun purchases, gun ownership, and gun usage is concerned, we haven't reached any agreement. Your attempt to extend CCW requirements into those other gun rights areas is another one of your misbegotten gotchas that didn't go anywhere.

scenes

Crickets sez: "Thanks for the verification that strict gun laws do work."

It's certainly an easy enough experiment to do. Simply look at adjoining states with similar demographics but different laws and see if they have different firearms murder rates (murder is best since there isn't so much fudging in the numbers).

It's not fair of course since I already know the answer to this question.

Paul Emery

Makes sense to me George that if the CCW requirements are so successful in curbing gun misuse why not extend them to all gun owners. Pretty logical. If it works why not extend it?

Bill Tozer

Gun laws. Think most of us can agree that Chicago has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Yet we read about the upsetting gun deaths in Chicago every single Monday after another violent weekend. To be fair, the vast vat majority of all the gun deaths in Chicago occur in just 2-3 of the 21 districts that Chicago is broken into. So why just those 3 districts, precincts if you prefer? Cause those are crime infested areas where criminals prey on the vulnerable. Criminals always prey on the vulnerable. South side of ole Chicago and southwest side is where criminals prey on the innocent.

The agrument made by our enlightened ones is that guns used by criminals from into the crime infested areas from surrounding areas and states. Which, of course, begs the question why those other surrounding areas and states do not have the same shooting/ murder crime stats as as Chicago? Why doesn’t the other 18 or so precincts in Chicago have high homicide rates? Why are 7% or so of the murderers in Chicago are white? Why? Why? Why? Is it because gun was only apply to law abiding citizens and never criminals? Criminals, like illegal aliens, don’t follow no stinkin’ laws.

"At least 11 states have passed laws allowing the concealed carry of guns without a permit, and 16 states have introduced legislation this year to do the same, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Rifle Association"

You can turn down your pacemaker now Paul, Ca. ain't one of them.
The state lost any sanity a long time ago.

Scott Obermuller

from the KVMR fake news guy - "Makes sense to me George that if the CCW requirements are so successful in curbing gun misuse why not extend them to all gun owners."
Paul - try to use your brain. It's that grey mush you might have inside your cranium.
CCW permits don't curb gun misuse. The folks who apply and receive them have already demonstrated lawful habits and gun safety. Hoodlums aren't going to be bothered. Law breakers don't follow the laws, Paul. And the vast majority of gun owners that don't apply for a CCW permit are just as safe and law abiding as the ones with CCW permits. They just don't have a need for a CCW permit or know they won't get one in the state they live in. Owning and possessing a fire arm is a Constitutional right, Paul. Unless the state can proactively prove I should forfeit that right because of a felony or other law breaking, with a right to due process then I shouldn't have to apply to the govt for any reason to exercise my rights.

scenes

I dunno. I hear that the 17 intelligence agencies think that Stormy Daniels has a CCW with a Russian handgun.

'round and 'round we go. The KVMR crack news team tango.

George Rebane

Restricting the rest of the country's 2A rights to people who only qualify for a CCW (different requirements in different states) is only logical for those who are working to confiscate guns from all non-govt types.

My preference is the other way around, starting with Chicago. Make it a test city and allow all Chicagoans to have the right to carry concealed weapons and pass a strongly written 'stand your ground' ordinance. The bad guys and crazies already do, so the only ones added would be the law-abiding folks who would give the bad guys something more to think about before they initiate gun violence. And if it works in Chicago, spread to a couple more cities like Baltimore and St Louis.

Bill Tozer

Wonder why guns are back from the recycle bin? The decision in Hawaii concerning the right to bear arms means the right to bearing arms outside ones home? No, probably not. The recent decision affirming the right to concealed carry at a university in Georgia? No, that was more of a technicality than anything because of the crazy Georgia laws did not the grant the professors or the university the legal authority to sue in that case. A jurisdiction definition. Was it the gun control initiative with 360,000 signatures that was tossed out by a judge in WA because the print was too small and did not specify exactly how it would affect existing gun laws? Again, just a technicality. Is it because school is back in session?? No, probably not. It’s usually pretty quiet the first week back.

Must be because after gun deaths in Chicago went down in 2017, everybody thought the issue was being solved and walked away. Looks like 2017 was an one-off in the Windy City. Or maybe with Omarosa being dropped like a hot rock from CNN (appearances suddenly cancelled across the board) the ole standbys are the best they got. Who knows what evil lurches in the minds of men?
Or maybe if pot smokers can't own guns, then nobody should have guns. Pure speculation.

You should recall what you said Paul,, it was just a few days ago.

"Antifa protesters at a “Patriot Prayer” event in Seattle, Washington, demanded police shut down the speech of peaceful right-wing protesters Saturday.
Multiple members of Antifa un-ironically told KTTH’s Jason Rantz that they wanted police officers — who they called “fascists” — to shut down the Patriot Prayer rally. Others wondered why the right-wing group was granted a permit to protest in the first place."

Maybe Paul can tell us how he would report on that.

Looks like its going to be Justice Kavanaugh for sure -

The New York Times added to the list when it published a recent story on how internal emails show Kavanaugh "helped the [Bush] administration’s effort to win Senate confirmation for one of Mr. Bush’s most disputed judicial nominees," despite testifying in 2006 that nominee Charles W. Pickering Sr. "was not one of the judicial nominees that I was primarily handling."
The piece reflected Democratic questions of whether Kavanaugh had misled the Senate.
However, National Review's David French contacted Pickering, who said the Times did not try to contact him before its report and, further, he didn't remember interacting with Kavanaugh even once during his confirmation fight.
He said in a statement: “While I worked with attorneys in the White House Counsel’s office, I cannot recall a single interaction with Brett Kavanaugh about my judicial nomination. I do not even remember knowing his name at the time. His 2006 testimony is accurate.”
The Daily Wire published a story mocking the Times for the report, writing sarcastically that “they really” got Kavanaugh this time.
“Combine this with his purchase of baseball tickets and love of beer and they might just take this guy down,” the column said.

No, no, the problem I was told [with the author posting his appearance on Cavuto], was in the “crawler of words along the bottom of the video.” It was a quote of Trump declaring that the Robert Mueller investigation was a “witch hunt.” This was apparently hate speech.

Last month Facebook determined that my public page, with 184,000 followers, is a “political page.” None of my colleagues or other historians are so penalized. I suppose it’s because I post my Fox television appearances. My appearances on CNN should be okay, however. And my appearances on CBS? Well, the chart that Google promotes says CBS tacks slightly to the right but it is close enough to the middle to probably be safe.

Bill Tozer

Think about it. Trump’s lawyers are not preparing for defending against any obstruction of justice....which became the new mantra from the the Unhinged Leftinistas with underdeveloped frontal lobes as soon as they dropped the Russian Collusion story.

Meuller has interviewed hundreds of witnesses, scores of people in the White House, and poured over a million pages given to the Meuller freely by the White House. The Meuller team knows more about the Trump Campaign and everything that went on during and after the campaign than any campaign manager or individual of group of staff could ever know. It’s humanly impossible. Meuller has every e-mail, everything from the campaign. Yet, through all this, there has not been one leak, not one sentence uttered, not one charge that even hints of criminal activity dealing with the Trump Campaign colluding or conspiring with Russia. Trump did not need any reason to fire Comey and Rosenstein wrote up the reasons to fire the corrupt sleazebag.Maybe Trump fired Comey because of all the pressure growing from the left to do so.
So, it’s down to a perjury trap or nuthin’.

While all the experts are saying Trump’s lawyers are doing it wrong or not helping Trump, they are thinking like defense lawyers. Trump has given Meuller’s team all documents requested. They have made overtures that appear they are willing to let Trump meet with Meuller. They have set conditions and parameters of such a meeting, topics to be discussed, and even timetables. Before SCOTUS, Trump”s team can argue successfully that Trump has cooperated with the Special Council, made reasonable accommodations, provided his staff and lawyers to provide everything that the Meuller team needs to know. Meuller does not need to meet with the President. Meuller has everything he needs....except a perjury trap. Everything. Think SCOTUS, not defense against silly obstruction of justice charges. By definition, Trump cannot obstruct himself, being head of Justice.

Even Comey’s testimony before Congress about the memo’s he wrote was full of nice words insinuating Collusion with the Russians, obstruction of justice, and bad behavior by Trump, yet those very same Comey memos contained zero what he was yapping about before the Congressional hearing, lol.

Yeah, the pressure grows for Trump to meet with Meuller. Pressure from whom? The media? Meuller’s team is desperately trying not to be left empty handed, buff
naked in the wind and out in the cold.

Heck, they even had FBI informant Stefen Halpin approach George Papadopoulos, Carter Page, and others trying them to get to say something, anything, that will make their case.

Papadopoulos was also approached during the campaign by Stefan Halper, a former University of Cambridge professor who spied on the Trump campaign as an FBI informant.

Halper flew Papadopoulos to London in September 2016 and paid him a $3,000 honorarium to write a policy paper about Mediterranean energy issues. Papadopoulos has told associates that Halper asked him during one conversation if he knew anything about Russian hacking of Democrats’ emails.

Unbeknownst to Papadopoulos, Halper had also been in contact with Carter Page, another Trump campaign adviser. Halper and Page remained in contact through September 2017.

Now Meuller is whinning before the court that they did not get anything from Papadopoulos, even though he cooperated. Not very professional. Where’s the beef?

Two things we have not mentioned, so I will in passing.

1). Weinstein accuser Asia Aregento paid $370,000 to a 17 year old boy in CA after he accused her of sexual assault. Hush money. Gave the minor alcohol and did the nasty thing to the child. Age of consent in CA is 18 years old, is it not? BECAUSE of this, the Pres is not ABOVE the law, but it cannot be the Justice Department that does the investigation, the judging and the sentencing. THAT'S the duty of the House and the Senate.

Really, Punch, your TDS is blinding you.

Bill Tozer

Oh Dr.Rebane, Dr Rebane! George. Yes or no?

Dr. Rebane, Trump ain’t going under oath. Period. Ball is in Meuller’s court. He has to subpoena Trump and SCOTOS here we come. So, Meuller will dance around with Rudy and counsel to Trump waiting for the carpet bombing from the press and “experts”, but Meuller is going to have to fish or cut bait. Meuller does not want to lay a subpoena on Trump cause he knows he will lose. This ain’t a civil issue.

Also, and quite importantly, the Special Counsel has to abide by the Justice Department’s standards, procedures, guidelines, and practices, per the Special Counsel statute. That includes these two memorandums from the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel, which advises the Executive Branch (President) on Constitutional matters. Of course, Meuller has not been following the rules so why should he start now. :)

Paul Emery

Correct Gregory. That's what impeachment is-Indicted by the House, the
Senate is the jury. Unless that happens, according to George and Kavanaugh , he is above the law.

Open your eyes, Paul... he isn't "above the law".

It's that the law is out of the hands of the President when the President is the subject. It's in the hands of the Congress. Always has been.

This is not new.

Toes, I've heard that among non-primate mates, llamas are best...but which? Andean or Tibetan? One hump or two? Thanks!

L

Paul, learn to recognize a joke and don't get snookered every time... L

Bill Tozer

L,
Alpacas are “wear” it’s at. Hey, I have a buddy to got a call a few days ago to deliver a bunch of sheep to the livestock area of the fairgrounds the last weekend in September. Nothing unusual, expect the order was for no rams, only ewes. Anyway, I told him he best tell the herd to “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts”.

Two humps if it’s a camel.

George Rebane

re Paul 851pm - I strongly advise no one to take PaulE's expansions and interpretations of what I have stated as having any connection to the meaning of what I have written. His 851pm is Exhibit A. There the man does not understand the two-step procedure under which a sitting president is brought to justice for a criminal offense. Neither Kavanaugh nor I have claimed the President to be 'above the law'; there is a practical purpose of governance that requires a sitting president to be first removed from office before being indicted, as would then the rest of us in a court with appropriate jurisdiction. Such nuances are very difficult to grasp for some people, hence the sophomoric simplifications such as 'he's above the law'.

BillT 850pm - Mr Tozer, what do you demand of me with such intensity?

Paul Emery

Correct George

He is above the law that anyone else has to subscribe to unless he's impeached. Can we agree on that?

Paul Emery

L

Did I miss a joke? You observation implies that there was something funny said. Seems I missed the humor, show me the punch line.

Bill Tozer

@9:44 pm
Oh, I forgot. Nevermind. Oh yeah, the memorandums that the Special Counsel’s Office is bound by statute follow. Come on, Meuller, go ahead and subpoena Trump, pleaseeee! Trump has already announced he is too busy after Sept. 1, 2018. Guess Meuller can indict Trump and leave the files up in the DOJ-National Security Division Office, just like those files on the 13 Russians.....for a date sometime around six years from now.
Good night, Dr. Rebane.

Punchy 1001pm

No, not unless you subscribe to New York City underworld rules... that it ain't against the law until or unless you get caught. Works for city, county, state, federal and Congressional jurisdictions.

The only downside is your political wet dream about Trump in chains, being frog-marched out of the White House, ain't gonna happen. It also appears to the smart money that the "Russia investigation" will come up empty.

Tell us, Paul... when Mueller was appointed... how many weeks did you think it would take before you were free of Trump, with President Pence in charge or, in your wildest dreams, Hillary proclaimed President by acclimation of the Praetorian Guards?

WHAT crime is Trump accused of Paul?

Upsetting Punch and making him fuss like a 13 year old girl.

Paul Emery

Just repeating what Trump believes is the nature of the Presidency Walt. No specific crime. He believes he can do whatever he wants with no repercussions except impeachment.
A quote from his lawyers.

"It remains our position that the President’s actions here, by virtue of his position as the chief law enforcement officer, could neither constitutionally nor legally constitute obstruction because that would amount to him obstructing himself, and that he could, if he wished, terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon if he so desired."

Scott Obermuller

from Paul - " He believes he can do whatever he wants with no repercussions except impeachment."
proof?
Paul quotes Trump's lawyers concerning the president's authority as chief law enforcement officer. The quote is only in regards to a specific federal investigation.
That hardly constitutes a belief in being able to do 'anything he wants' with no repercussions.
Complete fail.
Sorry Paul, you lose again.

Todd Juvinall

When there is no there there the Paul Emery's make up new straw men. Sorry but no one is above the law and Trump knows that better than you apparently Paul Emery.

Paul Emery

Todd

Once again, what does this mean to you? From Trumps lawyers:

"It remains our position that the President’s actions here, by virtue of his position as the chief law enforcement officer, could neither constitutionally nor legally constitute obstruction because that would amount to him obstructing himself, and that he could, if he wished, terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon if he so desired."

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery are you not understanding this very simple statement? I feel sorry that you are so dense you don't get it. WOW! You must be a graduate of some failed public school.

Paul Emery

What does it mean to you Todd? are you unable to explain it?

Paul Emery

Looks like Cohen is singing. He's set to be the John Dean of the Trump Dump

Former Trump attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen has reportedly entered into a plea agreement with federal prosecutors in Manhattan.

ABC News first broke news of the agreement on Tuesday afternoon, although both NBC News and CNN both reported earlier in the day that such an agreement was in the works.

Shadow banning and censoring makes more since now. Remember during Inauguration Weekend when the Dem big donors and George Soros funded groups led by David Brock met together in FL to plot the strategy to overthrow Trump? FB and social media was part of the plan.

“The memo contains plans for defeating Trump through impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

Are you trying to say that this untested area of constitutional law should mean something to Todd?

Probably doesn't Fish. Just thought I'd ask if he has an opinion on the matter. Todd is pretty much a genetic Republican and never varies from the party line.

Breathe! You're turning blue. Relax. Breathe again. Good.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/trump_administration/trump_approval_index_history

Go back another week or two and you get exactly what Trump's approval is today. If Trump's approval goes from 50% to 46%, that's a 4% drop, not an 8% drop.

Punchy 1059am
So, Paul... how does a plea deal with the lower level persecutor (he was handed off when Mueller decided he didn't have anything Mueller needed) help Muller's task (as you understand it) of throwing Trump out of office?
