The Navy is developing a naval version of the Northrop Grumman RQ-4A Global Hawk. This long endurance unmanned aerial reconnaissance platform can monitor large areas of the ocean, giving warning the pirates are on the move. One option was to arm the Navy version. However, the Navy has high speed coast patrol boats, powered by jet turbine engines. My Dad help develop these boats to patrol the coast of Viet Nam during the conflict there. These boats are fast and well armed. It is clear we can find and out gun the pirates, but we seem to lack the will to seek out and destroy this waterborne vermin.
