George,
I am glad you are seeing it. It has been a long time in the making and the last dozen years or so we have made huge strides towards of having our federal/ state/ local governments suppressing its citizens civil liberties while at the same time militarizing their enforcement capabilities. It has always been present against the citizenry who fought for human rights since the beginning of our nation but since our government has gotten so out of control and in the pockets of corporate interests I believe our government is preparing for a complete uprising from the people in the near future. Possibly when the banks fail next time and their is no way to prevent a complete collapse and the inability of our government to help the people is when this uprising will take place. As I have been posting here it is going on all over the planet the people are getting restless at the natural resource grabs and the wealth of those natural resources going to a small few outside of the regions where those natural resources are found.

I truly believe the water issue will be the one that pushes people of the top. Human beings will endure insane hardships as long as they have the ability to access the basic necessities for life. Start screwing with those basic necessities and people will then fight back because their and their families very existence depends on it

Here is a preview of the water wars that are destined to come if we keep going down this privatization/ profitization road. Bolivia and Bechtel, which its headquarters are found in San Francisco and I protested in front of many times over the last two decades. Bechtel received a no bid contract for water rights in Iraq after the 2003 invasion.

Bechtel sued Bolivia (poorest nation in South America) in World Bank courts adding onto the pain they already caused with their greed.

YES.....Yes.....finally a rampart for Ben the Valiant to storm!

Ben Emery

Fish,
I am starting to think you are one of Todd J. online personalities. If you had tried to understand what my comments are about instead of just trying to "fish" out a sentence or two to make a snide comment you would have realized the core of my positions are the dangers of accumulated wealth, which translates into political power. That political power then distorts representation in the favor of the few and away from the masses. It is not about jealousy, envy, revenge, punishment, bitterness or any of the other reasons given by you guys but rather security against tyranny of the minority or minority rule governance.

Here is a part of revolutionary history that isn't taught in schools and definitely isn't taught in the Tea Party movement.

Have you ever heard of GEORGE R. T. HEWES a.k.a. Rusticus? As far as I know it is the only first hand account of what took place at the event in Boston Harbor. It wasn't known as the Boston Tea Party until I believe decades after.

regard the Laws of Nations, the Rights, Liberties, or Lives of Men. …

fish

Ben,

As fond as I am of Todd in a blogging sense we are separate entities. Actually I haven't heard of Mr. Hewes, all caps, a.k.a. Rusticus. There are many historical figures with whom I am not familiar.

All you merit is snide Ben, you are a Johnny One Note with a Mother Jones subscription and the final revelation. When Yanis Varoufakis discusses why he's an "erratic marxist" I listen. I listen because he holds these beliefs and can articulate them in proper historical context. When Kyle Bass says he thinks the 99% have a legitimate grievance, I listen because he understands the financial markets (as demonstrated by the wealth he has accumulated. Presumably wealth the budding economic Commissar Emery would confiscate for the good of the "people"). You on the other hand are as near as I can tell, an equalitarian nitwit with a negro fetish. You I don't have to listen to. You make claims that I am an AUTHORITARIAN/CORPORATIST/FASCIST and then refuse to answer the bell when called on it. You make wild claims about economics and refuse to discuss or debate them. I'm just a midwit with a little time on his hands and I can out write and out debate you without exerting much effort at all. You want to preach your lefty nonsense and not get called on it....I don't think so! Progressivism is the most destructive philosophy because all it really cares about is right thinking and good intentions and you claim it as your inspiration. Progressive policy turns to shit....fuck...that's the other guys problem.

"There are probably a hundred globally that need to discontinued".....who are you going to "discontinue", Ms Tarbell.....what about the follow on effects? What about companies that operate in multiple jurisdictions...what then tough guy?

Todd Juvinall

BenE is truly a simpleton when it comes to answering anyone's questions. He cuts and pastes quite well and does some interesting name dropping. But even though I am a hayseed from Nevada County, I can out think the liberal buffoons. Too fumy.

Hey Ben - Hello! Over here on planet Earth. George's post was about the threat from an out of control govt. I don't have a clue what Bechtel has to do with it. They don't have an army and they don't threaten me one bit. My, what a damning indictment you have against them! They go to court to try to settle peaceably a disagreement over a contract. I know you would never think of such an evil thing. How greedy can you get? The very idea of going to court.
"Accumulated wealth is to dangerous in any entity or persons control."
And that entity would be?...... The govt, Ben, the govt. They control the money and soon, all the weapons.
Ben - please tell us the name of what private company that has murdered millions of citizens with impunity.

Bonnie McGuire

Scott you pretty well nailed it with, "What private company has murdered millions of citizens with impunity?" Private companies don't have the power that governments do. However, besides taxing their citizens, governments borrow money to carry on their dastardly deeds. I remember international banker Rothchild saying he didn't take sides regarding war, but just wanted to finance it. President W. Wilson felt the Fed Reserve proved very successful for financing WWI.

John

Ben, regarding your 3:16 post. I am intrigued by your comment that accumulated wealth is dangerous. I have for decades now, along with nearly everyone I know, been working hard to accumulate wealth. I have never imagined that the wealth that I am accumulating is dangerous. My very serious questions to you are, who is my wealth dangerous to, and how much wealth does it take to become dangerous? Is $1 million dangerous? Is $100 million dangerous? Does the wealth morph somehow from safe to dangerous as it approaches the tipping point, or will I change into a dangerous person?
I would really appreciate a serious specific response, as that likely will prove educational for at least one of us. Thank you Ben.

Gregory

John,

Collected wealth is dangerous if it's by a Koch who can be expected to do evil with it.

It's good if collected by a Soros, even though he was personally convicted for some of the ways he collected it, because he'll spend it for the good of the people.

snicker, snort... sorry, I wrote that with a straight face but finally just had to crack up. I think Ben grew up wanting to be a Joad in a Steinbeck novel. Or maybe Casey, but has to be satisfied with being a superhero as portrayed here:

Oh Ben, just admit it, there is a national conspiracy to deny citizens their constitutional rights, arm the dogcatchers, and shoot Libertarians down in the streets and murder anyone who opposes Big Brother. Isn't it obvious that the USPS is actually a paramilitary organization (the same USPS that the Republican congress claims is irreparably incompetent)? Isn't it obvious that we are going to round up 'Conservatarians' and move them all to Sand Point Idaho, Colorado City, and northwest Arkansas to stack n' pack rural right wing ghettos where we can control them? Because really, America, and particularly those many here call liberals, collectivists, socialists and communists, have a long record of working to oppose human rights, voting rights, free speech rights and other constitutional rights. That is why the ACLU protects the KKK's right to free speech.

Fish, you are a hoot. TheFrisch was a proponent of AB32 and against Prop 23 which was an attempt to put his fear mongering about AGW in its place. He spent a lot of time campaigning (illegally?) against the initiative. He says the whole planet is at risk if we don't believe him on AGW. And he calls us fear mongers! What a hoot.

It is plain as the nose on one's face. The postal workers are going the way of the buggy whip makers....but, they won't be going down without a fight!

Mr. stevenfrisch: Fear is just an acronym for F**k Everything And Run...or as the progressives prefer, False Emotions Appearing Real or as us neocons observe from the behavior of our leftist comrades, False Evidence Appearing Real. Personally I prefer the first one. Run to the Hills!

Speaking of fear and the Lilly White Colonialist Privileged Crackers out there and their racist domineering ways and disregard of subliminal historical context per my Brother Ben, I would like to pose a question.

Brother Ben, why are there any people of color left in the USA?? Considering all the millions of guns the citizens possess and all the millions of beer bellied air polluntin' practicing hunters and all the billions of rounds of ammo in the hands of us neocons, why is there one black man or Hispanic still walking the streets of any of the thousands of White Guilt Free Zones of fly over country? You would think we would all be shooting them haphazardly for fun and for free. Random acts of kindness and all that Whirled Peas stuff.

Heck, Brother Ben, I think I will go out today with millions of my Northern European Brethren and go shoot me some CANS. MexiCANS, Afro-AmeriCANS, Puetro RiCANS, Latin AmeriCANS, and maybe some Portageez just cause we ain't particularity strict in our definitions of cans (being blinded by hatred of people of color and being unedjicated and not giving a popcorn fart about our Imperialist history.

Its a mystery to me why there is one person of color still breathing my neocon air. Yep, maybe its FEAR.

Gregory

Steven "If you like your gun you can keep your gun; if you like your house to be warm, you can keep your house warm, Period" Frisch is projecting. Fear in partisan Democrats is palpable. Even Henry Waxman (D-People's Republic of Santa Monica) has bailed from a reelection campaign, not that the GOP won't manage to shoot themselves in their two right feet. Journalists and faux journalists (like Pelline) will be piling on the inevitable gaffs the least experienced R candidates step into.

Russ Steele

Scare mongering. The greatest of all scare mongering in modern times was the effort to convince the citizens of the world that CO2 was a danger to their health, and unless we controlled CO2 emissions, the planet was going pass a tipping point resulting in runaway global warming. Mr Steven Frisch was at the forefront of that scare, posting here and on my blog that global warming was a clear and present danger to the people of California. He wrote that the snow would vanish from the Sierra, destroying the skiing and winter recreation industry.

The lefty scare tactics worked and the California Legislature passed AB-32 the Global Warming Solution Act of 2006. That was 9 years after the global warming had stopped and now we are 17 years into a pause in global warming, and we are still stuck with the job killing AB-32. The progressive's global warming scare is having long term economic consequences for the state. And, for some reason they are unable to undo the economic damage they have created. Too much political slush money on the table.

Worse yet, state government agencies are focusing on global warming climate change when there is historical evidence that the planet is entering a 20-30 year cooling period, with a PDO switch to a cooling phase and the sun spots in decline. The Atlantic AMO is still in a warm phase, but will soon shift to a cool phase. The combination of all three, the negative PDO, negative AMO and reduced sunspots in the past have resulted in a much colder northern hemisphere, bringing on longer droughts, shorter growing seasons, and reduced agricultural output. The last time we had a grand minimum, the Dalton Minimum at the end of the 1700 and early 1800s, California had a 13 year drought. It would have been longer, but the PDO shifted to a warm phase and brought three years of rain and snow to the Sierra, before sliding back to much dryer cold climate.

Climate change scare mongers like Steven Frisch refuse to accept climate history as a precursor to the future. Historical evidence is that the climate cycles from warm to cold in a relatively narrow band. Cooling follows warming and warming follows cooling, regardless of what we humans do in our daily lives. This cycle has been ongoing for billions of years, and will continue long after we become an extinct species, the singularity is only a few generations away.

Oh, and why did the scary gif post by Steven Frisch look so scary? It started in 1950, during a cool period, if it had started in the 1930s, which were much hotter than it is now, we would not have been scared. We would realize that the planet has cooled since the 1930s. Old Steven is still up to his lefty scare tactics. God love him, he never quits.

DAMN Steve,,, seen satellite photos of the Great lakes? You will be hard pressed to even make them out. ( Just about fully iced over.)
Not long ago some of your AGW pals got frozen in, in miles of sea ice, in the middle of the Antarctic SUMMER... ( Looking for melted ice due to AGW)
Since "Mother nature" just isn't cooperating with The findings of the Unholy church of East Anglia U,, There is always photoshop for the "true believers" to use as a weapon. It wouldn't be the first time. Remember the sacmitist that posted the "drowned Polar bears" photo? Yup,,, faked to fit the scare tactics. What's a little BS among friends.?,,, Right? The end, justifies the means.

Now onto the ammo.
My reloading equipment will be in place soon. My costs for " can hunting" will drop drastically. The real fights will be down at the range for spent brass.
It seems the "armed populous" is just about ready for whatever "the man" may have planned. AR style rifles are back on the racks at gun stores, common calibers are back in stock, but the hording of .22 is still going strong. The bottom line is,, yes, WE are ready for "O"'s " private civilian army" ( Remember that comment from Dear Leader?) Was he referring to LIB leaning law enforcement? With the build up of military grade hardware in local cops hands, makes one think so.

In other news, Who is going to fund Fish and Game law enforcement in the coming years? A good portion of their funds come from hunting tags and licenses. With all the new (anti)hunting laws now on the books, us hunters are going out of state for our activities. Bear hunters in particular have given up on hunting here.
Just wait for a few "friends of Yogi" to get eaten on the trail. They wanted to stop bear hunting? Well,, they did a good job of that. Lake Tahoe
is already peeved about too many bears. ( Be carful of what you wish for)

I notice that once again, the left will not engage in responding to points brought to the front here on George's blog. Legitimate questions are raised as to why the fed govt is buying unheard of amounts of ammo. I think part of it is the left's famous inability to grasp basic concepts of amounts and proportions. To them it's just - "govt buys a bunch of bullets, blah, blah, blah..." They don't have the ability to grasp the enormity of the numbers involved compared to recent times of full on world-wide conflict. I don't live in fear, but I have a right to know why my tax dollars are being spent in some rather curious ways. Is it an attempt to buy up all available ammo in order to drive up prices? Is it because the fed sees a coming need for large amounts for quelling civil unrest? Are they going to be changing some rules (with a pen and a phone) that will drive ammunition manufacturers out of business and want to equip itself first? Can any of you on the left tell us why the feds need ammo in these numbers for the Post Office?
Ben, meanwhile, trembles in abject terror at the idea of an American corp trying to settle a dispute with a foreign country in court. Ben thinks that it's important to note that the country involved is the 'poorest nation in South America'. Uh... So? Maybe they wouldn't be so poor if they honored contracts and ran their nation in a lawful and civilized way. But you go ahead and curl up in a corner Ben, and shiver at the thought of Bechtel getting a no-bid contract. Pssst...it's done all the time, Ben - by every admin in fed and state history. In fact, Obama seems to have used the crony method of giving out contracts for the ACA website and we all know how that is going.
I really think Ben and StevenF need to brush up on history with regards to folks being denied civil rights and genocide.
It seems to have happened just a few more times in the last thousand years than the fabricated claims about AGW. Maybe you could look up a few articles about the terrors facing our nation in the NYT. Like 'The End Of Snow'. And all summer long it was true.

stevenfrisch

I see people here are having a really difficult time telling the difference between climate and weather again....it is pretty simple....here is a little refresher for ya'all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQlHaGhYoF0

Gregory

But of course, Frisch and Company confuse the two every summer.

Regarding Frisch's "I see the climate change denying 1% is out in force to defend the idea that AGW is not happening" inanity, first, not even the Michael Manns of the world claim 1%, and the folks who really know the difference between weather and climate, the professional members of the American Meteorological Ass'n, were recently polled and 48% didn't think that mankind was responsible for as much as half of whatever warming there might have been since the little ice age.

In other words, more than half of the AMS are "climate deniers", because it's obvious many of the 52% who both believed it's warmer and that man is responsible for at least half of it don't believe in a coming apocalypse if we don't give the Stephen Frischs the power to drive our "carbon footprints" to pre-industrial levels.

stevenfrisch

Somehow I am not all that concerned about what Brick Tamland thinks about climate change....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN8j8wLmKIA

Especially considering the fact that the American Meteorological Society is pretty unequivocal about the fact that climate change is primarily anthropogenic:

"Climate is always changing. However, many of the observed changes noted above are beyond what can be explained by the natural variability of the climate. It is clear from extensive scientific evidence that the dominant cause of the rapid change in climate of the past half century is human-induced increases in the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide (CO2), chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide. The most important of these over the long term is CO2, whose concentration in the atmosphere is rising principally as a result of fossil-fuel combustion and deforestation. While large amounts of CO2 enter and leave the atmosphere through natural processes, these human activities are increasing the total amount in the air and the oceans. Approximately half of the CO2 put into the atmosphere through human activity in the past 250 years has been taken up by the ocean and terrestrial biosphere, with the other half remaining in the atmosphere. Since long-term measurements began in the 1950s, the atmospheric CO2 concentration has been increasing at a rate much faster than at any time in the last 800,000 years. Having been introduced into the atmosphere it will take a thousand years for the majority of the added atmospheric CO2 to be removed by natural processes, and some will remain for thousands of subsequent years. "

https://www.ametsoc.org/policy/2012climatechange.html

stevenfrisch

Oh yeah, I know you are going to say weathermen are correct and their professional organizations are full of beans...I will let the readers think about the logic behind that position :)

Gregory

A lot happens in 2 years, or in this case, it's two more years of no warming flying in the face of IPCC-blessed models whose predictions were rapidly increasing temperatures.

Frisch, the AMS chose to poll their professional members last year, and they aren't the tv weathermen you are denigrating. Don't expect the dam at the top of the AMS to hold back the tides indefinitely.

Climate alarmism is on a slide. Enjoy the ride.

George Rebane

The quote from stevenfrisch's 400pm, "Since long-term measurements began in the 1950s, the atmospheric CO2 concentration has been increasing at a rate much faster than at any time in the last 800,000 years." is one of the now uncountable dollops of bull crap that issue from the politicized AGW scaremongers. Given the sampling intervals available in the record for the cited interval, that statement cannot be made, let alone confirmed.

fish

Steve,

Maybe a return to Pellines site where you can bask in the furious affirmation would soothe your professional concerns.

stevenfrisch

Fish I am under no illusion that there is anything I could say that would ever change a single one of the minds commonly present here. But it is illustrative to have my suspicion that the old fossils really just want to talk to each other because they fear anyone who has a contrary point of view confirmed.

I really do wonder why the Emery's even waste their time.

fish

Then you and Ben and Jeff and all of the others can lock arms and stride boldly into the future together......forward!

fish

I really do wonder why the Emery's even waste their time.

I don't! For them it's a calling...to preach and convert the unreconstructed.

Ben in particular displays the zeal of the most ardent missionary...and is particularly concerned with Georges soul. He won't won't respond to questions he doesn't like or justify assertions he flings while conducting "services"...instead returns to his "gospel" and begins preaching anew, his faith unshakable!

You....you're like me...just doing it for the money. The difference is that about halfway in I looked around my employ and it dawned on me that I was a thief. I don't delude myself that anything I do benefits anyone.... you're not quite there yet!

But hey, running the dubiously named Sierra Business Council means you don't have to sell used cars.....I suppose that's something.

Russ Steele

Some of the most blatant promoters of anthropogenic global warming has been NBC News. There are always multiple opportunities to shout at the TV when the talking head made some unscientific observations, promoting AGW. Thus, I had to read this blog headline several times to make sure I was reading it correctly.

NBC News: Problems with climate models are ‘bad news for the climate research community’ ‘could erode trust in climate science’ ‘downplay natural variability’

http://hockeyschtick.blogspot.com/2014/02/nbc-news-problems-with-climate-models.html

NBC News, typically the most alarmist network on global warming, published a surprisingly balanced article today on the new paper finding excuse #8 for the ‘pause’ in global warming: Pacific trade winds.

The global warming pause, which was not predicted by the climate models, and growing disparity between realty and the model predictions based on CO2 emissions, are raising more and more questions for rational thinking members of the press corp. At some point, they have to recognize that there are problems with the anthropogenic warming claims, or lose their credibility as journalist.

Now it Steven Frisch's turn to examine the credibility of the AGW argument. No, I am not taking bets.

Todd Juvinall

You have to give Frisch credit for being a true believer. Just like the "jack booted thugs" were true believers. Later, if he gains power, who will pay? He is really one of those little mammals that scurry in the sewers looking for a bite to eat. But he can have his excrement sandwiches. He and Pelline make good bedfellows in fantasy. Pelline, who no one likes in the county teams up with the same from Truckee. Both are delusional but hey, I guess I just have to accept their vile presence in our quaint community. Too funny.

Gregory

"running the dubiously named Sierra Business Council means you don't have to sell used cars"

I prefer "wretchedly misnamed" to "dubiously". It's anti-business and isn't a Council.

No, Frisch won't be discussing the science, he's dependent upon the concept of science being consensus and the climate "team" being akin to textbook authors presenting settled science, as settled as Newtonian mechanics in macro distances and non-relativistic speeds.

As Feynman once stated, "Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts", not belief in their infallibility; that's Religion, not Science.

It should also be noted the AMS results were that "Expertise, ideology, perceived consensus and perceived conflict were all independently related to respondents’ views on climate, with perceived consensus and political ideology being most strongly related. We suggest that AMS should: attempt to convey the widespread scientific agreement about climate change; acknowledge and explore the uncomfortable fact that political ideology influences the climate change views of meteorology professionals; refute the idea that those who do hold non-majority views just need to be ”educated” about climate change; continue to deal with the conflict among members of the meteorology community."

In short, groupthink and leftist politics has a stronger effect than "expertise" among the alarmist believers, and there really is a debate raging.

Fear: Nothing terrorizes a white liberal or the Democrat Party as a Black Conservative. That is real fear. Wait, what is more frightening to the white liberal is the thought of some poor young unemployed black man listening to a Black Conservative speaking about opportunity.

The run of the mill white conservatives are allowing their rights to be ebbed away. Black Conservatives thankfully will have none of this.

Here is a quote from Greg Gutfield:

The scariest two words in a white liberal dictionary are ‘Allen West,’” he declared. “If they see him walking down the street, they cross it and get fleeced by Al Sharpton. It’s white liberals, in every — whether it’s on social networks or on TV — that mock black conservatives. The way they treat Mia Love, the way they treat Allen West, the way they treat Tim Scott. It’s not an exception. It’s the rule.”

Now, we are really taking heart stopping fear. Brother Ben, not to worry. Black conservatives were all once Democrats, have forgiven you, and have moved on. Forward!

OK, back briefly to the original topic. This is something I hope the far left, the far right and all liberty lubbing types in-between can agree on.

Summary: for our academic and managerial class, the green religion offers a heady benefit of spiritual and worldly benefits. Save the world and run it too! How understandable that the occasional lie must be told to influence the ignorant masses.

Steve....one of these great jobs would allow you to maintain your comfortable lifestyle....give it some thought!

Fish, I have asked for the NOD of his organization and he refuses. Shows what a chicken sh** he really is. I wonder if he has been released from the fed, state and local liens he entailed when he closed his failed business?

∫ill T quotes Greg Gutfield "The scariest two words in a white liberal dictionary are ‘Allen West,’”

Let's see, wasn't he recently defeated for his House seat in Florida? Not too scary.

Todd, I gave you the service address for my organization...and my personal service address....if you want to sue me be my guest...the last thing in the world I will ever be is intimidated by you. But you better look at the law really closely....if you damage me..... I will have cause for counter-suit.

To answer your question I paid back every penny I owed in taxes and liens more than 10 years ago.....my prior business closed more than 14 years ago....for you to think I am anything but proud of the fact that when I incurred debt I paid back every penny of the debt owed, and did so without stiffing the state or federal government...for you to think that I would be embarrassed about doing my duty to clear my debt....and take responsibility..is ludicrous.

Debt itself is not something to be embarrassed about.....not repaying debt and making others take responsibility....such as bailing on a mortgage and allowing the taxpayers to foot the bill through TARP ....for those who have done that....is something I would be much more embarrassed about.

Wow, it was true then... Frisch collected taxes from customers and employees and kept the money to try to keep a failing business afloat?

That isn't quite in the same class as borrowing money to finance a development only to lose one's shirt as the market for such development tanks as a result of the government's market distortions, is it?

Todd Juvinall

I saw the documents Gregory. Everything I said was in the public record about what Frisch did. Yes, he withheld the taxes from his employees paychecks and then did not send in the money for them. This is the lowest form a businessman can take. Very slimy. Spent the money on what Steve Frisch? Trips, a car, what? Now you say you are proud of that? You are one sick ass puppy. And you try to take some sort of ethical high ground?

Regarding the lawsuit potential. I would be coming after you, the SBC and the Board as a unit and individually. Good luck.

Gregory, this Frisch guy and his pal Pelline think they have some moral superiority over all of us commenters on RR and elsewhere. Now you can see how demented they are.

Gregory

Todd, I'm sure Frisch didn't live the high life on the money he retained, and that he started down the slippery slope by gambling on being able to repay it, but I'm flabbergasted he would try to assert a moral superiority for repaying the money he essentially stole from trust accounts over you, who had a business deal go sour with a lender taking over the property as they were contractually empowered to do in default.

Amazing. And here I thought he got out of the kitchen because he was tired of the life of an executive chef.

Frisch, feel free to straighten out any details. In the meantime I'm going to guess you didn't have a choice to discharge that debt in bankruptcy court and your pride at paying it back was in lieu of jail, which is where folks who do that can end up.
