AP reports (here) that Jesse Jackson, one of the leading plantation keepers in the nation, has found a new windmill to joust from his public panderer podium. He has discovered that high tech companies don’t have enough blacks and Hispanics developing all that “inclusive technology” (it’s tough to make this up). He can’t make the case that the industry discriminates against minorities, because anyone who has worked at a high tech company knows that they are filled with people from all over the world, predominantly from Asia and eastern Europe. If there’s any discrimination going on, it’s against those who drew the short straws in education and/or brains.
But that’s not what Team Jackson is arguing. He and his traditional cohort of extortionists (read Doreen Borelli) point out that high tech company workers aren't sufficiently divers, that they don’t accurately reflect the “demographics of the people who consume their products”. Well no s#%t Red Ryder. Given the educational profile of such demographics, if we used the government gun to impose the quota system, then those companies wouldn’t be developing and marketing the products that the consumers have come to enjoy.
Private sector high tech is one of the last meritocracies left in our society. If you want to get a job there, you have demonstrate what you know and can do, and not threaten suit because the company is not interpreting Section 8 of the Civil Rights Act according to your liking.
Were Jackson in the business of helping blacks, he would be militating to get good teachers into schools that teach his favorite minority kids who have been getting screwed in their classrooms since Great Society days. He could be advocating for charter schools the waiting lists of which are filled with black and Hispanic families wanting their children to have a go at a quality education not dominated by teachers unions who do all they can to keep the double dummies employed by school districts. But Jackson and his ilk know their constituencies, and working to reduce those numbers is not good for their wallets. In the end, it all makes sense.
The feminist do not like high tech use of meritocracy, and are demanding changes:

Thanks for the link, Russ. You gotta love it. They admit meritocracy is good, but since it doesn't provide the outcome they want, it has to go. There are very good reasons for hiring all sorts of folks specifically for gender and ethnic reasons if you are marketing to particular groups, but meritocracy still has to be the over riding rule. The only institutionalized racism is believing that Euro descended males have it easy and don't have to struggle just as hard as everyone else.
As a side note, it's reported that in California, I'm now an official minority. And - last time I looked - I'm a 'person of color' (not an albino).
When do I get my free Obama phone?

Jackson needs a history lesson. Like who came up with the "traffic signal". A Mr. Wiley,, a man of color. The "Father" of our traffic control system. ( I happen to own one of his inventions.)
The fun part is finding someone to fix the one I have. Maybe Jesse can find the right guy for the job.

Jesse Jackson? Hmmm. Name sounds like of familiar. Is he still tooting his rusty horn?
I remember when The Good Reverend shook down the Clinton Campaign (first one). For a cool 6 million from the Clinton Campaign he took his Rainbow Coalition and packed his bags and went home. Withdrew from the running.
You'd will think a Man of the Cloth, such as JJ would be too busy chasing skirts (other than the Mrs. Jackson), supporting illigetimate children, or making those many trips to the Fed Pen to see his son and daughter-in-law to have anytime left in a day. Did like it when he said he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off....that would be fun to watch.
I also remember when Jackson took his extortion campaign to Nike Shoes stating the high price of Air Jordans was causing people to stab others and assualt others and steal the "others" high priced shoes. Status symbol and all that. So many po folk couldn't afford them $300 shoes and it was causing a bone-fide crime wave. Nike is to blame and should lower the price for the Boyz in the Hood. Its like blaming the spoon for making you fat or blaming the car for you getting a DUI. Anyway, Nike told Jackson to go pound sand and don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya. Jackson left empty handed and never returned. Didn't even get Nike to hire a bunch of dark skinned brothers as excutives. Can't win them all. Money talks and BS walks. I think The Good Reverend likes money, fame, and pretigue. Human nature strikes again.

This is just too good not to share from the Diplomad 2.0
To quote Herbert Stein, "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop."
Yes, my loopy progressive friends, the fantasy ride is over.
Time to collect the same-sex partners and test-tube kids; get back into the Prius, hope the battery is not dead; and head home to the stagnant economy, the mortgage, the leaky roof, the uncollected garbage, the sky-high energy bills, the unemployed and unemployable college students receiving a DOA education, and a American health care system, once the greatest in the world, now on death's door thanks to your prescriptions. Oh, and let's not forget the misunderstood thugs and terrorists with their knives out, waiting in the driveway to cut all our throats, yes, our--yours and mine.

Russ...I confess I had my doubts when I read the corrections suggested by the author.
Did appreciate the following passages:
From the "about me":
Convinced the State Department needs to be drastically slashed and reformed so that it will no longer pose a threat to the national interests of the United States.
That's all to the good.
And especially appreciated the following:
More than ever before we need a rebirth of personal liberty that would produce the wealth and technology to underpin our military and economic strength. Aggressive fracking and ambitious marine oil drilling efforts, for example, by the US and Canada would help undermine the economic and, therefore, the military strength of Russia, Iran, and other trouble-makers. An unleashing of the tremendous creative potential which still exists in our frayed Republic would create one, two, many Silicon Valleys that would generate whole new technologies and sources of wealth. The government must get out of the way: taxes axed; regulations tossed by the dumpster-full; bureaucracy slashed and burned like the choking weed cover that it is.
Above all, we need men and women in the highest reaches of our government who know, understand, and love the greatness that is Western civilization, especially that variant of it handed us by our great English forefathers, and the role the USA should and must play in ensuring its survival. We do not have that now; freedom-loving people around the world pay the price for that hideous fact, and that must change. That is the only way out of this hole dug by the Obamistas and their "progressive" groupies.
