"FY 2013 ICE Immigration Removals
In addition to its criminal investigative responsibilities, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shares responsibility for enforcing the nation's civil immigration laws with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). ICE's role in the immigration enforcement system is focused on two primary missions: (1) the identification and apprehension of criminal aliens and other removable individuals located in the United States; and (2) the detention and removal of those individuals apprehended in the interior of the U.S., as well as those apprehended by CBP officers and agents patrolling our nation's borders.
In executing these responsibilities, ICE has prioritized its limited resources on the identification and removal of criminal aliens and those apprehended at the border while attempting to unlawfully enter the United States. This report provides an overview of ICE Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 civil immigration enforcement and removal operations:
In FY 2013:
ICE conducted a total of 368,644 removals.
ICE conducted 133,551 removals of individuals apprehended in the interior of the U.S.
82 percent of all interior removals had been previously convicted of a crime.
ICE conducted 235,093 removals of individuals apprehended along our borders while attempting to unlawfully enter the U.S. 1
59 percent of all ICE removals, a total of 216,810, had been previously convicted of a crime.
ICE apprehended and removed 110,115 criminals removed from the interior of the U.S.
ICE removed 106,695 criminals apprehended at the border while attempting to unlawfully enter the U.S.
98 percent of all ICE FY 2013 removals, a total of 360,313, met one or more of ICE's stated civil immigration enforcement priorities. 2
Of the 151,834 removals of individuals without a criminal conviction, 84 percent, or 128,398, were apprehended at the border while attempting to unlawfully enter the U.S. and 95 percent fell within one of ICE's stated immigration enforcement priorities. 3
The leading countries of origin for those removed were Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador."

As you can see, the right(wing)stream media sources, in their hysteria, are also failing to deliver complete news. Team Obama is not reporting - ICE and Homeland Security are reporting.
Also, Homeland Security would have approved the "70,000" criminal releases. They must have had their reasons.
Additionally, the word, "criminal", is kind of vague.
Are they felon pot smokers, did they fail to pay for some parking tickets, or what? However, no doubt about it, there could be some genuine bad apples in the bunch that got released for lack of evidence, or whatever.

Well didn't you think there would be a quid pro quo for bestowing decidedly mediocre health insurance upon a dimwitted populace?

RussS & BradC - thanks for expansions. Question still remains, why release any illegal aliens who have been caught for whatever other reason (jay walking?). Have they not already committed a crime by being here illegally?

RL Crabb

Scandal? What scandal? Leland who?...

The FEDS claim "they" have sole authority over illegals, and the states are to quit crapping on their lawn. At the same time gripping about being overworked, and under funded, and just can't take the time and expense of deportation.

Our Boarder isn't a trout stream with "catch and release" rules.

A few episodes of "Boarder wars" or the like, gives a little perspective.

Well don't count on LIB news to "be all over this". The LIB infested EPA has been doing "human testing". ( without full disclosure it seems)

Didn't the Geneva Convention frown upon this before?
The Left has a history of more than questionable " human testing" for the "public good".
But of COURSE the White House has "no knowledge" of any of this going on.
Just add this to the list of "things they didn't know".

I have a question that I can't find the answer to. I recall the tale, but can't
find evidence of fact.

Just who's grand idea was it for our trained fighting men in uniform to stop carrying their "issued" weapons on base? ( all branches)
The Army and "Jar heads" never went anywhere without said weapon "back in the day".
I find fingers pointed at Clinton, but I believe it goes back farther than that.
How far, is the question.
The story I remember was that some General's wife took issue with "all those guns" walking around the base. Like I said. I can't find anything on that.

But the same can't be said about " nose art" on bombers. Yes, a woman did put a stop to that. How dare someone paint a topless lady on an aircraft. The vulgarity!!!
