Paul Emery

Yeah Todd, our Republicratic one party system is about to deliver us another Bush or Clinton and if things run their course A Bush or Clinton will have been President for 28 of 36 years between 1988 and 1924 with the following chronology; Bush I 1988-1992, Clinton I 1992-2000, Bush II 2000-2008, Obama 2008-2016, Bush III or Clinton II 2016-2014. Yeah Todd, that's a bunch or real winners you should be proud of supporting, since they are part of one party.

Paul Emery

That's Bush III or Clinton II 2016-2024.

Todd Juvinall

Well Paul support Walker then. He is my guy.

Paul Emery

It will be Bush in a walk Todd, no pun intended. He's the one with the big money support. It's a family thing, just like the Clintons. The big boys know what they're paying for.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery, since you consistently support losers for President (like I did for two cycles) then help us change things. Let's get Walker, perhaps Christie.

Paul Emery

Nah Todd. They are part of the problem. We need truly independent leaders not those bought out by our one party system. The main function of the Republican and Democratic wings are to be a collection agency for special interest money pure and simple.

Todd Juvinall

OK Paul Emery, I get it. You will never make any changes to the "system" because you don't really want to. Just carping is OK with you apparently.

drivebyposter

"We need truly independent leaders..."

A nice thought, the problem is that there really isn't much of anything that a majority of the hoi polloi would agree on. If they did, it may well not be a good idea anyway.

This notion of the 'moneyed interests' vs a solid bloc made up of everyone else is kind of silly.

Jon

Thank you Todd for coming right out and saying you don't vote on your principles for President, only for the presumptive "winner". Principle plays no part for your vote, as opposed to folks like Paul and Ben who have clearly stated their voting principles. So we do thank you for that frank admission that you support ANYONE who you think can topple a Dem. But on the other hand, I thought you and others believe that members of the Republican Party are the party of principles. Please excuse our confusion regarding Republican "principles" or lack thereof.

To think that Scott Walker or Chris Christie represent "changë" in politics is more than laughable, given the big $$$$ money donors each of them has courted, and their total, undying alliance with Big Money and Big, Big Business interests.

Paul Emery

Todd

Do you really believe that Christie and Walker are independent of big money interests?

Driveby: "notion kind of silly"? Goodness gracious we have to believe in something don't we? Certainly you don't not believe that what we have now with our one party system qualifies as a "good idea".

Walt

Bush? Uh,, I don't think so. Even today he sucks in the polls, and he's too GOP.
The people are siding with those with Tea Party values. That's a fact. LIBS are in a death spin. Even LIB news is on life support. Soon,, even that plug will get pulled.
So what will LIBS looking to keep the W.H. let alone regain seats do? NO in the tank media to bury the bad news.
As stated before,, Al Gore was right about ONE thing. "The Internet will be the death of Liberals staying in power." Yup,, he was right. When LIB media lost the control of the flow of information, well,,, history has shown you the rest.
Even with the LIBS trying to control the net with "net neutrality",, well,, a day late and a dollar short.

Jon

Walt, no one cares about these supposed polls 20 months out from the election. Its like putting weight on the joke of the Iowa Straw Poll or even the Iowa Caucus results. Anyone who take 15 minutes to study the correlation of these polls to the Nominees of the past understands what a joke they are. You Tea Party types are always pissed about something regarding change in our world and society, so ho hum on that. The sad part is that you are being played for saps yet again by the Big Money boys like the Kochs and the Chamber of Commerce. The real action starts when they begin waving their dollars around toward the end of the Primary season. Sadly your perpetually agitated Tea Buds will once again be relegated to their lower pawn status within the Party power structure.

Don Bessee

Is that a chili cheese fry stain on your collar 'jon'?

Gregory

10 Quatloos say "Jon" is Ben Emery, who is regretting his promise not to bother with politics that isn't local... I'd guess Jeffie the Hutt but the grammar is just too primitive for this time of the day.

drivebyposter

"Goodness gracious we have to believe in something don't we?"

Sure we do, the problem is that we don't all believe the same thing. Heck, I doubt that the Social Justice Warriors could present a united front aside from their ability to identify and tear down their enemies.

Merely agreeing on goals would be a good start.

The funny thing is that if you somehow pushed the banksters out of the way, another equally loud (and irritating) group would move right into the ecosystem niche.

I don't recall Ben being that condescending..

Ben sees himself as an "educator" helping we dim conservatarians see that glorious and radiant progressive future. That role emphasized with the shotgun blast of helpful links that accompany each and every post.

jeffy on the other hand sees himself as deigning to address his lessers. "jon" oozes that same attitude.

Gregory

Yea, but this Jon praised Ben and Paul for being virtuous 3rd party voters and, unless he's downed more Chardonnay than is advisable, Jeff just can't write that badly.

Let me bump that up to 20 Quatloos.

Don Bessee

Gregory 255- Good point.

Paul Emery

According to Todd, the Nevada County Oracle I'm Jon. I must be a pretty lonely guy to write to myself. Actually who cares?

Todd Juvinall

You must since you keep responding.

fish

Jeff just can't write that badly.

I don't know....jeffy has offered up some real clunkers in the past! Hardly what one would expect from an award winning journalist/wordsmith.

Gregory

Paul, you also can't write that badly :) and you have no reason to hide your face, unlike Ben who has promised not to waste his life on the likes of RR regulars.

Walt

"Jon"... Hummm That's what Grand Dad scratched on the door of his outhouse.

Jon at 11:28 - "Oh and hey ScottO and Co, your desire to ignore the hard questions and prospects of the hard-right superstar Mr. Ted Cruz tells us all we need to know about his chances, as well as those of the other wingnut colleagues!"
There were no questions about Cruz. Just Paul's hallucinations about our country becoming a theocracy because of what was said by some one who is not Ted Cruz.
Obama's and Clinton's fathers were drunken zeros. Did Paul or anyone else think our country was in danger of becoming inebriated because of them?
Cruz is honest and espouses following the law. His views on what type of govt we should have follow the founders.
Does Jon or Paul have any useful and truthful comments on Ted Cruz's opinions or actions? Or just name calling and rock throwing?

Don Bessee

It could be he who's name we shall not speak or one of his new bff's like brad peckimer-glasse or laura (sara) rose mcloud or just as well Ben. They are all starting to sound alike. Too close to call Gregory so I must save my 30 Quatloos for neighborhood organizing! lol The usual suspects in Nevada County have been awfully ham handed in a number of ways recently. So let me stir the pot so to speak, what should we do in reaction to neighboring counties banning big commercial outdoor grows?

Bonnie McGuire

The garbage being heaped on good people like Ted Cruz should be obvious to anyone with any common sense. Personally, I like people with intelligence and courage. Here's an interesting story that's making the rounds. A great history lesson that shows that the tenets of Islam has not changed since the18th century! Why the Marine Hymn Contains the Verse "To the Shores of Tripoli." Most Americans are unaware of the fact that over two hundred years ago the United States had declared war on Islam and Thomas Jefferson led the charge! You can read the rest of the story here.
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/j/Jefferson-vs-Muslims.htm

Jon

Ted Cruz is not a good person. Speaking of garbage, he's a selfish punk, universally disliked among his Senate colleagues. He's not going to get close to becoming the Presidential nominee, so in the next several months he will be rendered as worthless as Sarah Palin. But Bonnie, thanks for the right wing chain mail of the day. Sounds like you are sympathetic to a war against Islam, millions of followers who happen to be US Citizens.

Don Bessee

Thanks 'jon' that helps clarify it. ;-)

Walt

Yup,, the Sun has set, and the trolls are starting to come out.
What some guy(?) says who can't even spell his(?) name right is irrelevant.
He(?) needs to worry about who will be propped up (with sticks and strings) for the Progressives. The future felon Hillary? (Scooter Libby got sent to jail for less)
OR the fake Indian? Well,,, there is the pervy ( Hand off my wife )Joe Biden.
Moonbeam Brown? Only N.Y. and Ca. would vote for the fool.
Yup,, LIBS have some real pieces of work to consider.
Any one of them is not much more than a third term Obummer. The nation is sick of him.
Even MSNBC is going to turn Repub. Red. ( Don't believe me? do some easy looking..)

Jon

Walt, you are totally incomprehensible. Very few humans can decipher that ranting and raving with your random punctuation at inopportune times.

Thanks Donnie. Get back to us when Cruz is at 25% in the Repub Primary. :)

Jon

I did have a good chuckle that that Donnie responded to a comment about someone universally despised. What a hoot!

Bonnie McGuire

This is too funny. Too bad Jon didn't check out truth or fictions story regarding Thomas Jefferson standing up to the Pirates extorting money from various nations and the origin of the Marine hymn containing the verse "to the shores of Tripoli." It should be interesting to those with inquiring minds. Obviously Jon is a self anointed God whose brain has no room for anything but prejudice and hatred for anything contrary to his superior doctrine.

Don Bessee

Thanks 'jon' that makes 15 Quatloos for me!

Barry Pruett

When someone claims that a man who preaches the virtues of a constitutional republic is unfit for the presidency, it speaks volumes about the claimant's hatred of that which makes America great.

Walt

Ya... Sure thing there,,, uh,,"Jon"... No one else seems to have difficulty.
Ya' just need to be smarter than the less than average bear. Seems you can't even make that grade. Hell.. you can't even spell your name right. Like they say,, sucks to be you.

Account Deleted

Jon at 7:50 - So you have nothing on Ted Cruz beyond name calling.
Paul - do you have anything intelligent to say about Ted Cruz?
Bueller? Anyone?
You can disagree with him, but please state facts and come up with a sound rebuttal.

Jon

can't spell my name right Walt? Please elaborate on that one.

As for Cruz, positive attributes escape me Scott, my apologies. But he's having his relative 15 minutes of fame, and will be yet another funny sideshow in the Republican primary debates which are always entertaining. Maddow ratings will go through the roof starting later this year. May not be up to the Pizza Man standards, gotta admit

Walt

What we have here is JoeK under a new tag.
and anyone in LIB to get "through the roof" ratings?? Better check to see where that weed was grown. Someone is suffering the effects of heavy metal ingestion.

Walt

The fact is that Cruz it the LIBS worst nightmare. He has the Conservatives, the Libertarians are backing him, and plenty of independents already in his corner.

Now that "O" has given in to Iran even many an old school DEM will jump ship.

Account Deleted

"As for Cruz, positive attributes escape me Scott, my apologies."
Honesty? Integrity? Those aren't positive attributes?
I asked for something factual to back up why you don't like him - all you want to do is call him names. I don't expect people to agree with me, but it would be nice if you lefties could provide facts.
Paul has nothing - Jon has nothing.
Ted Cruz probably won't be president, but I don't think he's a flash in the pan, either. He brings a lot of good ideas to the table and pushes the debate in the right direction.

Walt

Here is a good take on things.
http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/26/ted-cruz-cant-do-what-glenn-beck-says/

fish

Yeah...now the left can go nutz over the issue! You guys are due your "fair share" of outrage over this topic!

drivebyposter

"Ted Cruz was born in Canada!

....waiting for the outrage...."

If 'natural born' means 'a US citizen at time of birth' (an arguable point in these fringe cases), it all boils down to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. There's plenty of websites that spell out the gory details.

Ann Dunham sounds like a piece of work, so at this point I'd say that the details of Obama's early life could be just about anything.

Hopefully Cruz (and any other candidate) doesn't have top secret school records and test scores. The ability of the powerful to scrub the backgrounds of people running for office would do the photo retouchers of the USSR proud.

Paul Emery

The Dems are not going to raise a fuss about Cruz for any reason. He is a dream come true for them and would be easy pickings in a general election.

Jon

Agreed Paul. The more entertainment value guys like this provide with their wacked out discussions at the debates, the better! Everyone will be trying to prove who can cut the most social benefits, at the same time kissing up to evangelicals to show who has the most cred as a True Christian.
Most of America will be entertained and cringing in equal parts.

Walt

Just why in Hell should the American people elect another Progressive for President, or any other elected office? ( Reminder.. LIBS have had the butt handed to them in the last three)
The damage that the Left has done to this nation has been astronomical. From job decimation , record numbers on food stamps, record debt, illegals get free run of the place, now allowing Iran to have nukes. Yup,, great job in foreign affairs.
This administration has allowed more secrets to fall into enemy hands since Bill Clinton gave missile tech to China. ( Recall that stealth drone that got snagged?)

Furthermore,, Glen Beck sure called it when he predicted the burning of the Middle East.
He was so damned right.

I do believe the American people are done with LIBS for a LONG time to come.

Account Deleted

"Everyone will be trying to prove who can cut the most social benefits,..."
And have the citizens working at jobs! The very idea! An outrage!
So jon is all in with Obama since he has more Americans on the dole than ever. Strange idea of policy success.

Walt

OK "jon",, DO list what you feel your "entitled" to. ( That would be social benefits)
Is WORK a "four letter word"?

Jon

Man, a little commentary about the Republican candidates predictable behavior in the debates provoked quite a firestorm of rants and topics far afield of what we were talking about.

Oh and Walt, I do believe Dems did pretty well in the 2012 General, then Repubs won 2014 midterms in Congress. What 3 in a row are you talking about?

Todd Juvinall

Hillary is in more trouble today. The left is going to lose big no matter which candidate the R's put up.

Walt

Really? the last election LIBS had any traction on was when "O" got elected. It's been down hill ever since. Remember? You clowns had a super majority. By the next election the Right will have it.
Taking a page from Paul's playbook? ( Question dodging, and change the subject)

Well.. Since "Dirty" Harry Reid is waiving the white flag and cashing in his huge stack of chips, the next top lunatic may take his place.
Yes, many a LIB is throwing in the towel this next time around. ( They have seen the writing on the wall. Unlike jon)

Paul Emery

What Cruz will be able to do is split the vote and likely come out on top in the race against Libertarian light candidate Rand Paul who is unlikely to maintain his fathers devoted base.

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/03/ron-paul-leave-rand-paul-camp-116439.html

Rubio is a twerp that won't wear well with repeated exposure. That clears the field for Bush and to a lesser extent Walker leaving TV preacher Mike Huckabee and fallen boy wonder Rick Santorum to fight over the Bible Thumper scraps. Christie is already down for the count because of his abrasive personality and questionable associates.

Lindsay Graham is an intriguing possibility but that's about it.

Jon

Walt, I guess my advice to stick to the topic at hand isn't sinking in with you.
To correct your election statements, in 2012 the Dems WON more 1.5 MILLION more votes in House election and widened their Senate majority by 2 seats. Obama received 5 MILLION more votes than Mr. Romney. Maybe you can explain these facts vs. your proposition. Or do you really care that you just spout gibberish?

Jon

Paul, agree with almost all of that. Wonder when conservatives are going to realize you cannot win by cowtowing 100% to the religious right. Rubio has flipped and flopped all over the board. Not ready for prime time..is being kind. Also, the Bushies are going to pound hard with money and elbows on young Marco, who they feel has betrayed his mentor, the Bush Boy Who Would Be President (ie Jeb). Would love to see a Hawkish Wing take flight in the primary and see if anyone has the honesty to propose a national draft.

Walt

Just where are you getting that BS from? Last time I checked, the LIBS have lost BOTH houses. Funny.. LIBS save a seat here and there, and since it wasn't a clean sweep, that's considered a victory.

Some hard numbers for jon...
2010 election
Senate
Seats contested 34 seats of Class III and 3 special elections
Net change Republican +6
House
Net change Republican +63

Governors
Seats contested 38
Net change Republican +6

2012 not much of a change. Just moved the deck chairs around.
"The Democrats had 21 seats up for election, plus two independents who caucused with the Democrats, while the Republicans had only ten seats up for election. The Democrats gained a net of two seats, leaving them with a total of 53 seats. The Republicans lost a net of two seats, ending with a total of 45 seats. The remaining two senators, both independents, caucused with the Democrats, leaving the majority party with a combined total of 55 seats."

Then 2014 roles around. How did ya' do?

One more note for jon. jon, fails to add the fact that the 2012 election was tampered with.
The same election that the Tea Party was targeted.(well in advance of the election)
Recall the IRS/Tea Party scandal jon?
So toot your horn again. A "win" by any means necessary. If that hadn't have happened the chances of "O" getting re elected would have been a LOT slimmer.

Paul Emery

Todd

Funny you don't recall the 4 million Karl Rove emails that "disappeared" during a federal investigation of political wrongdoing.

"A lawyer for the Republican National Committee told congressional staff members yesterday that the RNC is missing at least four years' worth of e-mail from White House senior adviser Karl Rove that is being sought as part of investigations into the Bush administration, according to the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. "

It couldn't have amounted to much Paul,, since it didn't go anywhere.
Now speaking of emails, Hillary sanitized her server.
http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/27/trey-gowdy-hillarys-server-was-recently-wiped-clean/

Yup,, she has something to hide. ( or is she above the law?) And this is the kind of person you want to vote back into office?

Walt

Walt, did they ever recover Rove's lost emails or not? If they didn't wouldn't you consider that "something to hide"?

One thing the Clintons have proven through the years is that they can sure take a punch. If Slick Willey were able to run for Pres in '16 he would win in a walk. I'm sure glad I'm not going to vote for either party. My conscience is clear.

Todd Juvinall

What's up "fish"? Why do you hide behind the name "fish" rather than writing your real name: David Larsen of Carmichael? What are you afraid of?

Posted by: fish | 20 March 2015 at 10:48 AM

One would think that with a resume in the tech industry as extensive as yours that you would have run into the concept of "blog handles" before. I may be incorrect in my assumption and that because you probably spent as much or more time fetching coffee for the CNet guys as you did for Herb Caen that that kept you away from exposure to the real world and you missed it.

You "outed" me...what over a year ago.....and yet here we are. I post as 'fish' because it's what I'm used to at this point.

I find the above exchange funnier still given the number of times porcine has been busted posting under a fake name......Gloria Zane, Bruiser, Annie Fox......I think this threads "jon" is likely the "Flabby Conscience of the Sierras" as well.

There was also some concern that given your neighbors inclination to threaten lawsuits, waddle off to the sheriff to tell on people, or call Homeland Security because certain people don't seem patriotic enough that using my real name might potentially cause some blowback at work. Given todays revelations about the DEA hooker scandal I needn't have worried. In fact I'm beginning to think that I could sacrifice a newborn baby on my supervisors desk and as long as all the paperwork was in order there wouldn't be any repercussions.

Paul Emery

Yes Fish, the same DEA that for years feasted on our domestic hippies on the
Ridge were using taxpayer dollars supplemented by cartel provided hookers to live it up in the countries of origin of illegal drugs. More reason to end the war on drugs now and layoff all the DEA cops. With any luck they might get work doing parking lot security for Walmart or become bouncers at McGee's .

Brad C.

Walt, I think you are missing the point about MJ. It is a buisness that is legal in more and more areas. Snoop Dogg is also getting in on the act.

Todd Juvinall

I think any drug dealer selling to kids should be executed. Now I feel better.

drivebyposter

"Can you share with us the reason you don't use your real names in this blog?"

Purest professional cowardice.

When you work for large multinationals (like me), even defense contractors (like me), the ability to commit job suicide is a real risk in this era. It would be easy to exude a phrase on a political website that would present ideal catnip for a zealous HR department, regardless of how provably true the opinion might be.

If you stick to center-left ideas, or are retired/self employed/chronically unemployed, the world is a different place. For the foreseeable future, everyone else should lay a little low. Identities are a matter for the writer and Bluffdale.

Joe Koyote

Todd, do you think corporate polluters ought to be executed as well? They poison way more people than drug dealers.

Todd Juvinall

Unless you are Hillary and anything goes and there is never a penalty. The FUE and his ilk will do their best to ut you and ridicule you and your ideas but I have yet to see one post on his cesspool blog criticizing Hillary or the left. So watch out, the "fish" knows.

Todd Juvinall

Bit if I read the list of supporters in the Union ad of the new MRI for SNMH, I will give a kudo to his magazine.

Brad C.

Todd, you could start a ballot initiative to that effect for $200;)

Todd Juvinall

Naw, I am too lazy now. You do it.

Brad C.

Todd, ok, but I think we need to work on the language a bit. How about ...drug dealers executed by overdose via their own drugs?

Brad C.

Good news! If our ballot mesure gets accepted we get the $200 back!

Paul Emery

Sugar addiction kills thousands of children every year. Do you think sugar dealers and promoters should be executed as well?

Brad

Executing drug dealers who hawked drugs to children was his idea. When you brought "sugar dealers and promoters" into it you made it yours as well.

Do you believe that we should go back a find those who "promoted" selling a dangerous white powder to children under the guise of a government health initiative (food pyramid) and execute them?

Simple question.....

MY take on "epidemic" of "fat kids", is the fact that they are glued to the boob tube, and no exercise. Thumbs on a PlayStation controller most of the day has plenty to do with it.
Now we can't pry their digital life support system from their paws. (smart phone)

Seems some don't even want to take responsibility for their own kids. They want government to do the work. If you don't want them to eat or drink "X",, don't let'm. Instead, demand government "ban" or "outlaw" said product of food.

OK Adults,, what's YOUR excuse for your extra tonnage? You are supposed to have the smarts to know what to eat.. But use the excuse of a "medical condition".. That always works.
