Patricia, could you tell us all about the legislation passed that was sponsored by Bernie Sanders?

fish

BTW, how long do I have to accumulate my third hat tip?

It's no fun if you know in advance!

George Rebane

PaulE 1025am - There are some good reasons why our president should be given the authority to negotiate trade agreements in confidence with other sovereign nation-states, and then bring them to Congress for study and an up/down vote. As I've pointed out before, the TPA is not the TPP - you can support one and oppose the other. Here's what the Congressional Research Service has published on the TPA that also answers your precedence question.

https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/RL33743.pdf

Patricia Smith

Todd, which Sanders legislation are you referring to? What have I ever said that that would lead one to describe Sanders as a corporate stooge?

Single payer is not a ridiculous concept. It takes away the 30% of funds that go to insurance companies and places it back into the system of caring for patients. There are many reforms that could improve our current system, provide better care, and cut costs, but these moves are blocked by pharmacusetical giants(among others) who get legislation that makes it illegal for Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices. Drugs that were developed on the taxpayer's dime.

Despite comments about socialized medicine, countries with single payer like it, while practicaly no one like our system.

fish

Despite comments about socialized medicine, countries with single payer like it, while practicaly no one like our system.

You could emigrate!

Bill Tozer

The problem with Single Payer is the gov't don't know squat how to manage healthcare or how to make it work, as opposed to the expertise, yes expertise, the private sector has accumulated through decades on how to run the insurance industry without shuddering their doors and leaving us all out in the cold. Can you say Veterans Administration? Can you say it's getting hard to get in to see a real doctor, not to mention a specialist, who loves Medicaid? Can you say clinics going under or consolidating. Can you say the inmates are running the Asylum, running around like monkeys trying to hump footballs? I bet you can.

Todd Juvinall

Patricia, you have mistaken me for someone else on the Bernie Sanders and corporations.

Single payer is a bust Patricia. European nations have seen their economies tank as they have taken over all the medical expenses. Great Britain is in the throes of a reset with their NHS. I would suggest you look at the polls and see if the American peple are on your side. I think not. Last one I saw about their like for the current system before Ocare was 80% liked it. If you have different info please supply the links.

Regarding the "pharma" conspiracy on pricing. Can you please supply your sources for that? I am unaware the "pharma" industry is involved. I seem to be pretty happy with my insurance reimbursements as is my doctor. So please toss me some links to back up your allegations. If true that would be terrible!

George Rebane

PatriciaS 1154am - To circle this barn again, the only reason *some* countries with single payer like it is because they haven't hit the wall yet. ALL 'single payer countries' are operating unsustainable healthcare programs in the quantitative sense that such programs eat up an ever larger percent of their GDP with each passing year. And none of these countries pay their own security costs - relying instead on Sheriff Uncle Sam to keep them safe. Our feckless president has now given them second thoughts about that policy. And when they start paying for their own defense, then single payer really starts getting expensive.

Liberals particularly should note that any program that year after year continues to consume a larger fraction of any budget is on the face of it unsustainable. America has a number of such programs - to the Democrats such realities are invisible, and the Republicans just go into denial so they don't have to think about it.

Don Bessee

Pattie you don't give a shit about our warriors other than as a talking point in your snake oil show. If you cared you would be screaming for the public employee unions to be defanged so the SOB's at the VA can be fired. Since the last head of the VA resigned only 1 person has been fired. Hell not even the secret service can properly discipline its wayward due to the unions so says the head of the secret service. The science on this issue is being looked at but the fact is that all the evidence of mmj impacts in psychiatric cases is that it makes things worse hence the positions of the professional medical associations. For you to imply that all the suicides of military would be solved if we gave them all a joint is despicable for your self serving exploitation of this and other populations. Just like the davet syndrome kids. The Denver Children's hospital and the Epilepsy Foundation have shredded your sob stories. The EEG's in CO show that the people who moved to the state in search of the holy oil wildly over report positive results with their home chemistry. The people who lived there all along do not report the miracle cure results. Trying to exploit the sad plight of these 3000 or so kids in the country to make policy for hundreds of millions shows the lengths you guys will keep going trying to manipulate uneducated populations with guilt and stoked emotions. You don't want anyone to know how much science is happening all over the world because it does not fit your tired narrative.

Paul Emery

By the way Don what's happening with your proposed MJ Cultivation rewrite that was bugled around a couple of months ago? I've heard through the grapevine that the Supes don't want to take it on.

Joe Koyote

Michael R. Kesti

The FUE has again demonstrated the immensity of that chip on his shoulder with another grammar related criticism of The Union. He claims that the sentence, "Their small taphouse and cramped brewery don’t look like much." should have used "doesn't" rather than "don't."

He is incorrect.

"Don't" is used when speaking in first and second person, singular and plural; and in third person plural. "Doesn't," on the other hand, is used only when speaking in third person singular. The taphouse and the brewery are third person and because they comprise more than one object the plural form is appropriate.

It gets better.

In asserting his correction, the FUE writes, "From where most of us come from, it should read 'doesn’t look like much.'" In addition to the redundant "from" in that sentence there should be a comma after the word "read" to set off the quotation.

It seems that it is the FUE who is in need of a good copy editor as well as a crane to assist in the removal of that chip!

"jon" you should really get together with Ben as this is the argument that he makes. I think that the two of you, pooling your efforts should have little difficulty convincing this majority to send Mr. Sanders to the White House.

Bill Tozer

Dunno. I was thinking of voting for that black guy surgeon instead of another angry old white guy from New England. Or maybe that Cuban dude instead of that angry old white broad.

George Rebane

fish 531am - It has always been that the blacks are the first not to give a crap about how many blacks kill blacks. It puts their manufactured (and hired) rage into so much perspective when a non-black is involved in a black death.

Does anyone know if any of Sanders' socialist nostrums for America are constitutional, or are they only more of the feds on steroids getting into our pants?

Todd Juvinall

"Jon" can you tell me what laws Bernie authored that have passed that have helped America? I would assume you know since you are his supporter. Also, I would never call your candidate a "clown" as you did the Republicans. I mean, Bernie is mainstream right? That is your appeal? I have been looking for the polls you said exist and I just can't find them. Can you give us a link? Oh, are you Bernie's point man here in the county? Where can I get some literature?

Barry W. Pruett

He is incorrect.

"Don't" is used when speaking in first and second person, singular and plural; and in third person plural. "Doesn't," on the other hand, is used only when speaking in third person singular. I was going to say it, but I figured that I would just let it go.

x or y (singular) = it = doesn't

Patricia Smith

Deputy Don, May 25, 4:23pm It would be refreshing if you got your facts straight just once, but I suppose that would be asking too much (and you call me a dilletante). Countless numbers of Vets have been helped with medical marijuana. Dr. Sue Sisley has been awarded $2M to study the effects of MMJ on PTSD and the VA is now authorized to recommend MMJ to their patients. Do you think this would happen if it didn't help? If it saves one soldier's life, isn't that worth it? (And BTW, most patients do not smoke MJ these days, please try to keep up with the rest of the class.)

You are also wrong about kids with Dravet's syndrome. The world became aware of the ability of MMJ to control seizures when everything else failed from Dr. Sanjay Gupta's remarkable CNN special that introduced us to Charlotte Fiji. We witnessed her decline using conventional medicine and we watched her recover using cannabis oil. She is not alone. But if you don't care about soldiers recovery, how can I expect you to have compassion for children?

Many major medical associations now endorse MMJ. Here is a link to 60 US and International organizations that endorse MMJ, http://norml.org/component/zoo/item/detailed-reference?category_id=734.

Here is the link to the Epilepsy Foundation, http://www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/2/epilepsy-foundation-calls-increased-medical-marijuana-access-and-research

Even the American Psychiatric Assoc encourages more research in to the efficacy of MMJ.

Come into the 21st Century Don. The world is moving on without you.

Bill Tozer

Well, PTSD. My Dad called it going Asiatic" after being the sole survivor of a sub that is laying in the bottom of the sea in the South Pacific back in the days following Pearl Harbor. He said his buddies had gone Asiatic after they blocked the old Long Beach freeway stopping cars with candles in hand looking for the girl with the wooden leg. Or, maybe too many Mia-Thais.

Serious stuff. My research through the unbiased Mayo Clinic gives medicinal cannabis a C rating, which means it needs more research. I stay away from the rah-rah cheerleading of some pro-cannabis web sites cause I know what they are going to say, i.e., "it's the greatest thing since someone invented the Thermos." Or better, lol.

I have some aches and pains. In fact, I just got back from the Wound Center in Auburn cause I got myself one nasty super bug foot infection that is antibiotic resistant. I cured it using Manuka Honey and this morning they look pictures and said to me "long time no come see, Charlie. You are healed." and they could not even find the wound. The Mayo Clinic also gives Manuka Honey a C rating. This started in March, and after a week or so of using Manuka Honey on the wound, it is gone. This was after a trip to the ER, specialists, pediatrists, and 2-3 months of ugly foot to no avail, including recommendations to be hospitalized. Hell, that would interfere with work. I went natural.
All this to say that Patricia focuses on medical cannabis solely, not recreational use. During my time of pain, a friend gave be a tube of Full Extract Cannabis Oil (cannabidiol CBD specific blend). I was reluctant to put in on my open non healing wound, so I rubbed some on the ever present pain in the neck. That night my neck cracked into place while sleeping and cracked some more the next morning. Boy, that felt good and I haven't been able to crack my neck back into place in years. Must have relaxed the neck muscles or something cause it aligned itself. Thank goodness.
Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Better than smoking the shat.

Patricia Smith

Thank you Bill. All I ask is for people to keep an open mind, try to learn the facts, then decide for themselves (with their doctors approval) if MMJ is right for them. It's a personl decision, but should be an option for anyone in need.

Thanks for the tip about honey. I'm for any natural healing option and look at all the trips to the doctor it could have saved you - and you got better results when you went natural. I hope they don't try to ban honey now!

I know I'm a bit of a broken record about MMJ, but I've been an activist for 40+ years. This has been my primary focus for a long time and now that the Feds are starting to lossen up their restrictions, I can't let the matter lie until every patient anywhere in this country has access to safe and legal MMJ.

Don Bessee

Pattie you are so caught up in your propaganda that you still have not fathomed the facts of SAM's science based approach to the issue. SAM Nor Cal operates in the CA legislative structure where we have mmj. We and the professional groups all are saying more study is needed to get to a place where there are facts derived from controlled studies that can be used to establish real medicine. You know things like dosing and purity standards that are applied to the pharma. industry and especially the efficacy v risk factors in pediatric dosing. There is a massive difference between recommending more scientific study and endorsing the use of marijuana. Denver Children's Hospital was very clear in their conclusions as to the placebo effect in desperate families who moved to CO. Just look at the English studies on psychiatric emergency admissions spiking behind modern high powered weed products and rates of kids admissions to treatment. Not good news for the wonder drug.

fish

You're right "jon" Sanders is oh so right on the economic issues!

It's a world view popular in the Washington, D.C.-area, where 5 of the ten wealthiest counties in America sit. Government is big business, for politicians and for business. Sure, "theoretically" out-of-touch politicians like Sanders may be "very concerned about the issues of working people." But they also have an obligation not to be so ignorant, because their policies, however well-intentioned they say they are for working folk, are destroying opportunities for all people of all classes. But, for Sanders and the rest, it's a good hustle if you can keep it.

Sanders is expected to have a big, symbolic campaign event in Burlington this afternoon. Ben & Jerry's, the Vermont ice cream company owned by socialists who, naturally, are fans of Sanders, will participate, by handing out free ice cream. Let's hope they've limited it to one choice in order to supply Vermont's hungry children too, or something.

Socialism for thee but not for a member of the Nomenklatura like Sanders it seems!

http://reason.com/blog/2015/05/26/bernie-sanders-dont-need-23-choices-of-d

Patricia Smith

Don, unfortunately for you and SAM, the majority of the world sees through your propaganda that marijuana is an evil, dangerous drug. You keep throwing out "facts" without any substantiation and they are invariably wrong. Everytime I correct your statements, you counter with another incorrect remark.

ASA has been advocating for testing and standard dosing levels of marijuana for at least a decade so don't act like this is something thought up by SAM which has only been around for a few years. And please don't deny that SAM and other anti-drug groups are sponsored by big Pharma. You are supporting drugs that kill more people than all the illegal street drugs combined. Just because they are packaged and distributed from a pharmacy, doesn't make them safe.

Here is a link to the Children's Hospital of Colorado. They are hardly the skeptics you described. http://www.childrenscolorado.org/wellness-safety/parent-resources/marijuana-what-parents-need-to-know/medical-marijuana/medical-marijuana-and-epilepsy.

Patricia Smith

Don, ASA's treasurer just brought me a copy of a letter from the FPPC regarding the charges you filed against Citizens for Fair Laws. You made many accusations that we had done things improperly. To bolster your charges, you submitted the backside of our handouts to claim we didn't state who paid for our materials. You insinuated that there were financial irregularities in our reporting, but the FPPC has cleared us of any wrongdoing.

How many lawsuits have you filed against those who oppose you? How much money have you cost the county and how much time have you eaten up misusing the court system for your own purposes? How many cases have you won and how many were deemed frivolous? I'm sure there are more examples, but off the top of my head, I know that you have filed numerous charges against Chris Owens, Judge McManus, the recall efforts against the ASPOA, ASA, and Citizens for Fair Laws. You need to take up a hobby.

Off topic, but so what.

First the spin:
Obama's immigration action 'squarely within the bounds' of powers: White House

Now, reality:

http://news.yahoo.com/appeals-court-rules-states-challenging-obamas-immigration-action-183027287.html

Don Bessee

Pattie you can spin but you were issued a warning letter by the FPPC, you now have a permanent FPPC record along with ASA and your other entities. As to the newspaper ads that did not disclose the committee, they have no backs because they are in the newspaper! Its the committees job not the newspapers. They also said you got a break because you were 'an unexperienced committee'. They found you did not properly file your financials end of subject. ======= " This letter serves as a written warning. The information in this matter will be retained and may be considered should an enforcement action become necessary based on newly discovered information or future conduct. Failure to comply with the provision of the Act in the future will result in monetary penalties of up to $5,000 for each violation" ===== Then there is the matter of 5 letters from the Nevada County Elections office to your committee that confirmed each of our concerns about your financials when they rejected them. Remember? I guess your irony switch is off today, that you of all people bring up litigiousness considering how many emergency motions and suits against the County your side has filed in recent years. LOL

Don Bessee

oopsie- that should be inexperienced.

Don Bessee

When you say marquard gave you his letter are saying that you did not get one? You, Yes on S and ASA all went to your address according to my copy. It was hard to miss , it had the BOLD and underlined subject - Warning Letter Re: FPPC no.14/1150, Citizens for Fair Laws- Yes on S and Americans for Safe Access- Nevada Count, Patricia Smith and Craig Marquard.

Bill Tozer

Off thread strikes again:
We have no choice. The trend is irreversible, we have no other option.

Hmmm. Excuse me madam, I have an option for your suggestion box.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xxSI1QsIo8g

Patricia Smith

Good try Don. Print the whole letter from the FPPC. We were cleared of all wrong doing. The statements you quoted are the boilerplate warnings that COULD have pertained if we were found guilty, but they determined that our ads and handouts were properly disclosed and our financial reports were in order.

The letters from the Elections office were for minor details like leaving a date off of a page or forgetting to total a page. No matter how many times you tried to report us, the agencies involved didn't find anything to charge us with.

This is yet another example of the lengths you will go to try to discredit your opponents. Too bad they keep blowing up in your face and end up making you look foolish.

BTW, I noticed you didn't address how much you've cost the county (and all of us taxpayers) with your frivolous lawsuits nor did you respond to the fact that your organization (SAM) is a front for prescription pill pushers.

Paul Emery

Don Bessee

For a Conservative like you to hide under the governments skirt to advance you're personal agenda is a little ironic. For all the talk about us being over regulated you embrace government enforced rules about what you can grow in your flower garden and are opposed to personal choice when it comes to herbal medicine, which indeed is what medical cannabis is.

Also, can you give us an update on how your drive to increase regulations on cannabis cultivation in Nevada County is going? The story has fallen out of the news lately, likely an indicator of an abandoned idea. I hear the Supes asre not interested in going forward. Kinda late this year. You'd have to tell all the growers that are in compliance that there are new rules in place. You will have to live with the often quoted statement by Sheriff Royal during the "S" debate that the current ordinance is working fine.

Don Bessee

So you deny you got a warning letter? Time for a little history folks. The first observed error was a gap in June 2014 campaign expense reporting. Then with the September reports there were tens of thousands of dollars in cash that were flying around from committees that were not registered election committees. That reporting period generated the 5 NC Elections letters which reflected our observations. Then you were allowed to file amended reports which eventually happened. That was many months after our complaint. Go check the union stories in chronological order gang. IF you were cleared you get a case dismissed letter not a warning letter. The letter has been in circulation since I got mine, it was dated 15 May. Welcome to the legal repoting election process.

Don Bessee

Pattie you and Renette can go get vaccinated with all your anti medicine yapping. People forget too soon what epidemics look like.

Don Bessee

Pattie the Family Court Reformers did the world a service in the McManus drama which you clearly know little about. The sworn testimony in the whistle blower case established the truth of our long held positions on the dirty dealing in the Nevada City Courthouse especially undue influence of court staff on judges and ex-parte communications violation and failure to extend protections to domestic violence victims. As an ACLU member you best get your facts straight. We ended many violations of peoples civil and due process rights. The committee that started the recall of McManus was a bi-partisan effort that included prominent elements of many communities in Nevada County. I still find it interesting that Joey Jorden who was the campaign manager for Anderson for judge at the time wrote the McManus's resignation letter.

Don Bessee

Emery you so funny :-) you cant grow opium either and it ends up as medicine or something bad. Sheriff Royals comments in oct. could not have foreseen Yuba County making such a practical enforcement decision. Sure let me just tell you all of my latest intel. LOL Placer is in study mode waiting for the bill in the legislature that has an override of local land use code on mmj to resolve. I was with the Police Chiefs Assoc. lobbyist last Thursday and he felt it would die as expected. It has caused a pause in a number of counties and cities. We will all see what if any bills survive this session and move forward in that context. The State Supreme Court just rejected the appeal against Yuba's outdoor ban which was also being watched by everyone. All of these moving parts are relevant to local decisions.

Paul Emery

Well Don it all depends on whether the BOS is willing to open that can of worms again. With recreational legalization a foregone conclusion in '16 Nevada County will be missing out on a major source of legal income for rural residents. The tide will turn locally on more restrictive ordinances that will surely be challenged again by petitions and once again sent to the voters. The BOS and Sheriff know that so good luck in gathering fellow travelers.

Don Bessee

Keep counting your chickens PE! ;-)

Paul Emery

Don

Back to your 8:47

Are you really comparing the harm of Cannabis to that of drugs derived from Opium?

Don Bessee

Patricia Smith

Don, again you avoid answering the questions posed and go off on another rant. If we had "unaccounted money" flying around, don't you think the FPPC would have fined us? They didn't even mention our contributions because they were reported properly.

I can't wait to start picking apart SAM contributions so we can expose the true source of their funding. I say again, you are a front for prescription pill pushers and if you really had any concern for the children you cite, you would be leading the parade against pharmaceuticals. They have harmed and killed more people than heroin and cocaine combined (and we all know that marijuana hasn't ever killed anyone) yet your main focus is on the most benign substance of the lot. One has to question your true motivation.

Oh and BTW, the Yuba Co Supervisors have reached out to the Yuba Patients Group to work out a compromise on the ban, so I imagine more changes are forthcoming. Did you leave that out of your "recon" report on purpose?

But, not before one observation I need, nay, I gotta gotta gotto share. President Obama clearly identified himself as "half white" in his response to the Rev. Jeramiah Wright flare up. It's that white part of Obama I cannot stomach anymore.

This is what can happen under the TPP. So much for national sovereignty.

On May 18, a WTO tribunal overturned an American consumer law that requires country-of-origin-labeling on meat products, so we can know where the meat we buy comes from. Our Congress passed this sensible right-to-know law, our courts have upheld it, 92 percent of Americans support it – but a group of corporate lawyers on a WTO tribunal has overruled us. This forces us under our agreement in signing the WTO to change our laws. this is not even an international court but rather a corporate led tribunal that have determined that our laws have caused them harm. More of this is what we can expect if TPP passes. That's why responsible conservatives are opposed to the TPP. Here's a link with more info:

Here's more:

"U.S. exporters of all kinds now face up to $2 billion in punitive trade restrictions by Canada and Mexico unless the labeling rules are brought into compliance or dropped. The chairman of the House Agriculture Committee has already introduced a bill to rescind the labeling mandate for beef, pork and — to avoid future battles — chicken."

It's that white part of Obama I cannot stomach anymore.

...and who can blame you for that!?

Bill Tozer

A wee muffled voice from the Devils Exile Island cries into the air, "Well then, kill all the lawyers", followed by silence.

More whining about trade bills while overlooking the true menace......

REPORT: Elizabeth Warren Made Quick Profits on Foreclosed Homes...

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/418907/elizabeth-warren-bought-foreclosed-homes-make-quick-profit-jillian-kay-melchior

Patricia Smith

Don, blah, blah, blah. Neither office sanctioned us and in fact, the Elections office was incorrect when they claimed we hadn't filed a report. They had it all along. There was no unaccounted for money - that is a figment of your overactive imagination. Go harrass sick children, something you relish doing.

Todd Juvinall

Fish 11:51 AM

Liz Warren is a simple run of the mill liberal hypocrite. She took advantage of a really old and fragile woman to swipe her house. Your link is a real eye opener. Next we'll find that she owns "pharma" stock!

fish

Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 27 May 2015 at 02:12 PM

I don't care about "pharma" stock.....I am surprised that even with less Indian heritage than I have (...and I, to the best of my knowledge have none) gets to be Harvard Laws Native American diversity sweepstakes winner and gets a pass from the "cultural appropriation" screaming left!

Yes, Senator Fauxcahontas Crockagewea Warren's got her own scandal - in that she got hired as Harvard Law School's "first woman of color" on the basis of a dubious claim to be one thirty-second Cherokee and having contributed Cole Porter and the Duchess of Windsor's favorite crab dish from an upscale Manhattan restaurant to a cookbook of authentic tribal recipes.

Todd Juvinall

Fish, the reason "pharma" is so costly to old geezers like me is Liz Warren and her demand for higher returns on her stocks made it so.

Bill Tozer

Another barely discernible sound arises from Devils Exile Island.
Maybe Lizzy Forked Tongue is indeed a Cherokee Princess. Mr. Crabb and I have described their uniqueness on these pages on previous comments. Don't think Mr. Crabb had a high opinion of their special high spirited qualities, nor fond memories.
Hate to see Mr. Fish go through life without the tribal experience. Therefore, Awawalacawdadaw, I hereby declare Mr. Fish and Mr. Juvinall honorary members of the once great and mighty, yet still always proud tribal members of my roots, the Pocatwatalots. You are hereby and forever more persons of color.

Jon

How about some commentary on Rand Paul's honest, refreshing observation about his party's Chickenhawks being largely responsible for the rise of ISIS. SPOT-ON Mr. Paul. Its too bad he's totally wrong on so many domestic issues.
Shake up the traveling clown show, Rand!

Funny "jon".....I agree....but he's better on the domestic stuff!

Todd Juvinall

Fun ny how "jon" wants to say hooray on one issue from a Republican but would never cast a vote for one of them. Totally BS. But that is a liberal for you. And that is why they are a shrinking number every day.

Todd Juvinall

Thanks BillT for acceptong me into your tribe. What a hoot, me and Lizzie!

Jon

Don't understand your point Todd. I legitimately agree with Rand Paul on foreign policy. Am I voting for him? Only if I hear some moderation on domestic issues and a better sense of reality at home. But from listening to him speak today on the middle east, I am very, very comfortable on his foreign policy. That despicable Hawk wing of the Repub party has wrought more damage to our foreign relations, and cost us thousands of young people, and trillions in wasted money that could have been redirected to rebuild our homeland. Those cretins deserve every bit of scorn Mr. Paul can dish out. So yes, hurray for Rand on the most important issue facing our nation.

Jon

but on a lighter note, it was kinda fun to see Bobby Jindal, and Santorum as well, get all worked up in a lather, in an attempt to get the media's attention for more than 2 minutes this election season.

Don Bessee

Slippery evasion pattie, if by sanctioned you mean fined, true. But that does not change the findings and warning letter or that all of your reports in sept 2104 were rejected so at the time of the complaint everyone other than you guys agreed. What is funny is that with all your lawyers and the whole dem central committee you guys still had problems. Get furth to explain the meaning of a warning letter and having a FPPC file. LOL

Todd Juvinall

"Jonnie" 5:27 PM, you should vote for Rand Paul. His foreign policy fits the liberal mindset perfectly. His domestic policies are pretty good but he has no executive experience and that is going to be a problem.

The fact that you have Hillary, Bernie Sanders and that clown Mallory from Maryland says a lot about the left. It is a mess. The right has many qualified candidates while the left has none. But I hope we can get debates on the left now.

Patricia Smith

Don, I bet you were the unpopular hall monitor in high school that was always running to the prinicipal to tattle on other students. You spend so much time looking for dirt on everyone and you then you can't accept it when there is nothing to your suspicions. If we had done anything amiss, the FPPC would have fined us. They are not shy about handing out fines.

And what exactly are you claiming they are warning us about? They acknowledged that YOU sent in incomplete samples of our campaign materials and that ours had the proper "paid by" notifications. They also acknowledged all of our financials were in order, so if anyone has a negative file with the FPPC, it's you! Let it go. You lost (in trying to discredit us).

PS Newsflash, the Measure S campaign is over.

Jon

hey fish, I know the political day you've been longing for is finally here! George Pataki announces for President. A fiscal and socially moderate, and a huge War Hawk that would send ground troops back into Syria and Iraq and massively ramp up military spending! Maybe even propose a new draft. Yeah baby, that's the ticket.

Only issue that could derail a Pataki Administration would be the small fact that a mere .0005% of Americans of non-New Yorkers are able to pick the man out of a lineup.

The Clown Car rolls on. Cue the circus music.

fish

Why would you assume (other than yet another feeble attempt at humor) that I would have any interest in Pataki as either a presidential candidate or politician in general?

Jon

fish, sarcasm my friend, sarcasm. Come on now..

fish

Sorry....sometimes the "SarcoMeter™" is on the fritz!

Todd Juvinall

Bernie Sanders, the loon from Vermont along with Pocahontas Warren from Massachusetts are on board the democrat bus of stupid now. Well, not Pocahontas. Those libs really are desperate!

Jon

You underestimate Bernie at your peril. He won't win the Presidency, but his common sense, populist positions on most issues will be heard by nearly everyone, that I will guarantee. I don't support some of Bernie's domestic fiscal stuff, but then again, there is not a single politician in history that any thinking person would support without exception.

Todd, who is Mallory?

Todd Juvinall

Jonnie, Bernie Sanders is a nut. He may be fun in the debates with Hillary and O'Malley the pec man from Maryland. The R's have a lot of people giving it a shot while the loony democrats have what? A old babe who lies through her teeth and enables her hubby to chase other women? Jeeze, can't the dems find at least a candidate equal to say Carter?

Jon

Not sure its going to be real effective for 20+ candidates trying to grab the mic at the Repub debates. You think 20 egos and their supporters and allies are going to come together quickly after the first few primaries, and put all in on one savior so the Kochs and other right wing billionaires can maximimize their impact on the election? Hardly. No, rather its going to be fun watching 20 people try to fit into a debate for 10...the lawyers will be very busy with the filings and squabbling.

Don Bessee

Pattie, pattie, pattie. It took you until Jan 22 2015 to properly amend your financials. We complained in Sept 2014. When we sent the complaint the county followed immediately with 5 letters to your crew. As to the ad issue, read this slow now..... there is no back side to an ad on a newspapers regular pages, the same applies to wall mounted ads. You guys think you can do anything and then play the victim when held to the same standards we all have to live with, its so trite. That is what campaigns do. I wonder what the ratio of dem on R complaints v. R on dem FPPC complaints are in CA or just in Nevada County? While yes you did get slaughtered in the Measure S campaign your recent spin seem like posturing for a revisionist history to support a possible 2016 CA ballot proposition. You spin so much I have ask did you spin 45's on the radio back in the day?

Patricia Smith

Don, keep making claims that no one outside of you cares about. We sent the FPPC copies of our ads and our fliers and they didn't have a problem. It a tired tactic to try to make something out of nothing. Some of the pieces you mentioned were not created by Citizens for Fair Laws and were noted as such. You are mixing apples and oranges (as usual).

They only thing I am "posturing" for is the same as always, making sure patients have access to safe and legal marijuana (as I have done for 40+ years). What is your motivation for keeping medicine from sick children or Vets with PTSD?
