"So now Walt wants a tank. Just another Friday in loony land."
So what if Walt does get a tank - how is that anybody's business?
Lots of folks murder with their bare hands - should we start chopping off every ones' hands?
The left has a very poor grasp of statistics and reality. Maybe jon can provide us with the facts about the last time a private citizen killed some one with a legally owned tank?
I operate on a basis of fact. I know what has the highest probability of killing me and I take steps to mitigate that as best as I can.
Being harmed or killed by a fire arm is so far down on the list it isn't even worth my time to think about it. But for the gruberized, it seems to be just about all they can think of.

Hmmm.....why don't you explain it to us Dr. Phil...the whole "mentality and philosophy of life" thing.

God but you are a presumptuous nitwit

I stated a fact, jon. Please give us some evidence that I was sentimental about it. You are one confused puppy.

Todd Juvinall

I just think the posting of "jonnie" are great! All can see what happens when a person becomes a liberal. No one can make this up. They really are loony!

Walt

SURE I would like a tank. But the shells are REAL pricey. I might hit up the Big Sandy gun shoot this year. Even privately owned artillery pieces are known to show up.
I know how to enjoy the finer things in life.
No quit screwing over you boss and get back to work.

Todd Juvinall

Jonnie have you served the country in the military?

fish

No(w) quit screwing over you boss and get back to work.

Nahh....the glossies have already been schlepped throughout the foothills.....I imagine he's done for the day

fish

Damn......Walt.....some of these things are cheaper than fairly run-o-the-mill sports cars!

Buyers can pay a few thousand for a scrapped tank that doesn't run to more than $120,000 for a World War II Sherman tank in good condition. Restoration costs start at about $70,000 and can reach into the millions, said Lee Holland, vice president of the Military Vehicles Preservation Association.

fish

And you never need to parallel park a Sherman!

$125,740

We are seeing the results of all that drug experimentation from the 60's and 70's.
Nope,, it's not a pretty sight. a few here are still on the psychedelic trip.
"Facts? we don't need no stink'n facts.. Emotion is where it's at."
Back in the day the hippies were singing "freedom"!,, now it's "RESTRICTION!"
My... How times change.

Patricia Smith

George, June 19, 2:46pm I read your link and I question whether it seems even remotely possible that an armed citizenry could overthrow the US gov't. If not, the whole premise for owning stockpiles of weapons seems pointless. However, I support your right to own however many guns you'd like, but I still have problems with assault weapons.

Walt, June 19 5:16 above I've been stating I support gun ownership rights all day, but all you hear are restrictions. I wish you were half as supportive of my rights, but you won't even meet halfway - you want total restrictions. You are very inconsistent.

Walt

Once again.. I have NO PROBLEM (for the umteenth time) with MMJ. What part of that don't you understand? YES it has it's place in medicine. I know first hand the effects of said weed. ( LORD do I know..) It has NO BUSINESS being legalized for recreational use. It will just add to the the unemployment problem, among other things.
Scared of guns? It's obvious you don't know anything about them, except which end the bullet comes out of. Get educated. Stop relying on what someone else has told you.

It may not be the "G" man looking for trouble, but some thug looking to take what I worked for. Who knows.. it my be you next in the dead of night, or in broad daylight thinking your not home. It can happen anywhere. Yes, even here.

Patricia Smith

Walt, really, you have no problem with MMJ? So I suppose you voted for Measure S? It's really deceitful to say you support MMJ, but vote to restrict access for patients. So many of you say one thing and do the opposite. And I note that you are fine with banning recreational marijuana. DOES THAT MEAN IT'S OK TO BAN CERTAIN GUNS?

I'm the first to admit that I know nothing about guns. Don't want to either. But I do know that there are reasonable regulations that will make it a litle more difficult for the crazies to (legally) buy a gun while allowing people the right to purchase any gun that's legal. Because there are so many guns in our society, it's probably as easy to get gun on the street as it is to score marijuana. I've resorted to extreme examples because it seems there is nothing that you will accept that regulates guns in any way.

Don Bessee

Which of your 'rights' derived from what court decisions do you speak of Pattie? @533

Walt

Love it You don't know anything about guns and don't want to.... Priceless.
Again.. The LIB mind at work.
"S" was a piss poor measure. Especially when it came to what dopers could do with "rental property" Legalized destruction. I had a good taste of that already. You and your clan care to reimburse me for my lose? Pass the hat around to your high profit growers. 70 grand should do the trick. That's how much I am out thanks to a so called MMJ grower.
Do you forget that provision in "S"?

At least I get educated on the subject at hand. Unlike you. So your position on gun ownership is pretty much meaningless. Based on pure emotion and fear. ( with plenty of ignorance thrown in for good measure)
I know PLENTY about weed. Probably more than you do.

Michael R. Kesti

Patricia Smith 19Jun15 06:17 PM

I am on the record for being in favor of legalization of marijuana and support it being managed in a manner much like we currently manage alcohol. I voted against measure S, though, because I feel that ballot initiatives are a poor way to legislate and should be used only in extreme matters. My point is that there are sometimes other sides to issues than those that you choose to consider.

I heard recently that there are about 50,000 laws concerning access to guns in America and that many of them go unenforced. I would rather see enforcement or repeal of existing laws before enactment of more.

Jon

Don, whats your take on the dismissal of the last charge against Brad Glasse?
I'd be interested in why he and his little patch was targeted specifically when there are many other countless bigger, illegal grows, obviously well known in the area. Why isn't there more action against these illegal big grows? I actually agree with Walt and I'd support a stepped up enforcement of all the big boys who are flaunting the ordinance out there.

Jon

Walt, my advice to you is- pull up those bootstraps man, and stop WHINING incessantly about your bad tenant. Ad nauseum we have heard that story now, 20 times. That is YOUR fault for not monitoring the premises more closely. You want a government reimbursement program?

Account Deleted

from Patricia: "I've resorted to extreme examples because it seems there is nothing that you will accept that regulates guns in any way."
It seems? I know this is pointless, but what has anyone here said that would back up that totally hysterical claim?
BTW - the NRA helped to write many of the first gun restriction laws.
But Patricia is ignorant on the subject and proud of it. Bring on the grubers.

Jon

Kesti 6:58- I AGREE with everything you said regarding MJ and alcohol. I also voted against for similar reasons, pending the 2016 CA legalization measures.

Jon

Walt, serious question- you are always wailing against the unemployment problem for able bodied workers. What is your status? Are you 65 and retired?

Account Deleted

jon at 7:12 - this is why jon hides his ID. Nice to see your compassion for some one who got screwed. You clearly know nothing about 'tenents rights' in Kali. They can legally destroy your building and property and there's nothing you can do about it other than try to sue them after the fact.
I've had it with jon. Smirking at Walt's loss like a 10 year brain dead brat. If jon got hosed for that much we wouldn't hear about anything else from him. Good grief.

Walt

Not bad Kesti.. Not bad at all. I do like the ballot process, because it dose give us peeons some chance of say on things. Prop 13 was a big one for the "little guy".
It just pisses me off that when the people DO pass a law by ballot, some no name "friends of" drag it in front of a judge to get it dismissed. So one judge nullifies millions of votes. Just like "the people" said NO to illegals getting tax money in various forms.
Now look what Moonbat has just done. Health care for illegals.

Your dead on about the gun laws. Even the state waiting period has been found to be unconstitutional, yet the state files appeal after appeal. It's been found that the waiting period never did it's intended job. And background checks can be done in hours.

Jon

That's right Scott, I am sick of hard right hypocrites like Walt whining about programs to help people, and then turning around whining about something he could have controlled, through several channels, first of which was the screening process, terms of his lease agreement, etc. What do you think, I know nothing about this subject? My extended family is deep into real estate and I deal with it all the time in my business. It is absolutely false that landlords are devoid of rights in CA.

Jon

Scott re: your 4:10 way back this afternoon, I reaffirm my point that I indeed believe it LOONY to want to own a tank on your residential property. Especially when the clear purpose is not to create the basis for the Penn Valley Tank Museum of vintage American tanks. The thought of Walt driving that tank is chuckle inducing. Thoughts of the movie- The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming. Great flick.

Walt

I keep bringing it up because a certain person keeps forgetting the fact. Too much MJ?
Yes,, short term memory loss is a side effect. At least you remembered. (somewhat... It's only been 9 times I have had to bring it up... but who's counting?)

HELL dude,, this ditch digger can retire, and vary comfortably. The Conservative practices what he preaches. Work your ass off, brake your back doing it, and save, invest, and spend wisely, and don't make the same mistakes twice.

Here.. let me give you an investment tip. Guns and ammo ALWAYS a good investment.
You would be shocked on my gains or losses one day to the next on just a penny change in stock value. Yup,, "O" did wonders for my portfolio. He's the best gun salesman ever.
And now he's at it again.

So.. where is your retirement? The five gallon water jug in the corner?

Walt

Now why on earth would I want to drive a tank on pavement? It would tear it up.
But it sure would keep the low lifes away.

What's your dream ride? A third hand Subaru?

Michael R. Kesti

Walt 19Jun15 07:22 PM

Thanks, Walt. I wish that I could return the compliment but I cannot because I find myself too often disgusted by your despicable rants and unwarranted accusations.

Patricia Smith

Don B, 6:18 Everytime Prop 215 has come before the courts, it has been upheld. It is true that the courts has also upheld the right of local entities to create their own regulations because it was not directly addressed in the initiative. Your point?

Walt, 6:51 This sure doesn't sound like support for MMJ. Aren't you getting dizzy from changing sides so frequently?

Scott, 7:13 Hysterical? Only when I'm laughing at your comments that always seem to miss the point. Being ignorant about types of guns is not the same as being ignorant of regulations. Most RR readers were unaware that the ACLU supported the NRA. Does that make them ignorant or uninformed? Trying to find some common ground but I've been attacked all day for saying I support gun owner's rights. You guys are too much. I'd think you'd be happy that a LIBERAL has come to your side on this issue.

Todd Juvinall

Walt, as you can read these girly men, Jonnie and Kesti, just can't stomach your real world talk and common sense. What a hoot. Those relatives of the victims in SC were forgiving their relatives killer, Kesti doesn't even have the class to not be a prick to Walt.

Regarding landlords. The law is totally in favor of the tenant. Jonnie is a liar saying he knows all about those issues. Having rentals I have personally experienced what the true rights are and they do not favor the landlord at all. So once again, jonnie is fibbing and as he is a troll, he can bite Kesti. LOL!

Account Deleted

Patricia at 8:49 - "Being ignorant about types of guns is not the same as being ignorant of regulations." Well, since many of the regulations involve certain types of guns, then yes, it is the same. If you say you are against 'assault weapons' being owned by citizens, then you are not on my side. I'm glad you're honest about being ignorant on the subject, but you might find if you put down the bong and educate yourself, you'd find there's no real reason for being against the private ownership of almost any kind of weapon.
And you may want to laugh, but I notice you just ducked answering my question. I guess laughing is all you can do when you're stoned instead of backing up your incredibly brain dead statements.

Account Deleted

jon - you're losing it, dude.
" I reaffirm my point that I indeed believe it LOONY to want to own a tank on your residential property."
In order to reaffirm something, you need to affirm it in the first place. That wasn't your original statement. Try again.

Jon

Todd, you know what-
Kesti gets my a healthy good dose of my respect because he is consistent, fair and honest in his assessment of the various wild rants on here that veer off into la-la land, regardless of political affliliation. There are too many people here giving a pass to some of you guys, and I appreciate his honesty. Kesti calls it like it is, and while I disagree with half of his opinions, he certainly appears to me to be a VERY RARE ntellectually honest, true conservative. Most of the rest of you are filled with anger, frustration, envy and irrational sentimentalism about the state of our nation and the world today.

Walt

Ignorance can be rectified. But you can't fix stupid. Those that refuse to correct their ignorance put themselves in the stupid category.

Try to be nice when it's called for, and look what happens. No more Mr. Nice guy.
Go fuck yourself Kestie. Accusations you say? Unwarranted? LOL!! DO tell where I have been wrong. And calling a LIB for what one is is neither. HELL! "jon" can't even keep his fibs strait.

As for Patrica,, I hope the next MJ bust is you. I have never flip flopped on MMJ.
But let me know when I can collect that 60 grand from the fine, upstanding, obscene profit MMJ growers.( I won't hold my breath) Hell I bet you know the bitch the screwed me over. All dopers know each other.

Jon

Todd, please cite where I stated that rental laws in CA do not favor tenants? Walt was crying like a helpless puppy about his landlord rights. He had plenty of avenues, plenty of opportunities to assert said rights.

Jon

Todd and Walt- prospective Real Estate Moguls,
I guess the other question to you manly independent type conservative capitalists, would be this-
If you really believe and understand deeply that you are so helpless in CA as a landlord,
JUST WHY IN THE HELL DID YOU PLAY LANDLORD?
If you're such a good investor and capitalist, understanding business risks, and if landlord rights are so non existent, why in gods name would you invest and rent out your properties to tenants who possess all the rights in the state of CA? Obviously, in a free market of information about risks and opportunities, that would clearly be a REAL DUMB DECISION. So, in conclusion, you made STUPID DECISIONS. That's freedom, that's life in America.

fish

That's freedom, that's life in America.

Yeah.....kind of like the freedom to own a tank if you can afford it.

Jon

Wow, a new and unique Walt Explosion at 9:42! Even going after an honest conservative. Hay Walt, please remind us- when were you Mr. Nice Guy? You've been ranting endlessly about LIBS and DEMS as virtual enemies of the State- or worse- for nearly a decade. Day after angry Day. No sympathy for you, Dirtmover.

Walt

And the horse you rode in on and the dog that followed, milk toast.
You have nothing of value to say. It's all pointy sticks for you.
Dirtmover is right. An honest living and proud of it. Unlike you who hides in the shadows
and lies through his tooth.

George Rebane

PatriciaS 533pm - Please reread the Par Force piece. Nowhere was civilian par force suggested as a prerequisite to "overthrow the US gov't". But possession of par force with local constabulary will allow citizens to express extreme grievances with sufficient volume and endurance that the country will hear them. What comes after that depends on the nature and extent of the grievance.

In case you don't think that the federal government is preparing to quickly and quietly shut down the expression of such grievances, then please pay attention to the multi-state Jade Helm training exercises starting in less than a month in several states. These exercises will not be covered by the lamestream, and very possibly even by FN. More here -

Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference... I'll have them niggers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years".

Yep....nothing more liberating than getting out of a southern prison!

You fuc#ing idiot, I am not quoting Gawker, I used it to pass people through to the 'manifesto.' You can go read the manifesto on your own.

It's okay Steve...you're an adult....you can say "fuck" here. Why would I be interested in the tortured ramblings of Dylan Roof any more than I'm interested in the tortured ramblings of a Steven Frisch?

steve frisch

By the way, don't you think it is time all y'all put away that tired old 'Democrats are the party of the KKK' meme?

People are pretty smart. They know the reason that white southern crackers and white shoed country club types worried their belles would be sullied moved to the Republican party and made it the dominant party of the south is that Republicans embraced the racism of the fucking Klan under the guise of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

I think you do the people a disservice when you assume they don't know history.

NOT A REAL QUOTE FISH......

Nope....own it Steve....it's part of your political pedigree!

People are pretty smart. You'll need to provide some proof of this bold statement.

I think you do the people a disservice when you assume they don't know history. See item 2 above.

Jon

Steve, whats going to be really interesting now is which Republican candidates for President are going to finally step up and aggressively call out this cracker mentality, call out the flying of the Confederate Flag, call out everything you are talking about. Yes, with this horrific tragedy comes an opportunity for change. They will all have to answer for their Party's tolerance of this stuff, and even its associations with hate groups.

Well, I guess is you are just going to comment like trained seal and not read the source material we will just have to see you for what you are, a lazy useful idiot.

Why? The Republican aren't going to win the presidency in 2016. You said it yourself jeffy and perhaps our sole point of political agreement....Hillary Clinton is going to be the next president.

My guess is none of them currently running are going to call it out....they are going to go all Christian on us and praise the lord for the good AME congregation and all they stand for and "bless them for forgiving the sinner:, but they are not going to call the sinner what he really is, a product of a racist southern society that glories the Confederacy.

steve frisch

i don't think it is any accident that many of the same meme's used here about race relations can be found in the white supremacist lexicon on-line and thus made it into Dylann Roof's web site. It is code, and people here are expert at using code for hate, racism and intolerance.

Steve you said that it is a "racist manifesto".....I knew that. That Mr. Roof is a racist is not at issue. What I'm interested in is the demonization of legally owned firearms and the lefts attempt to staple this to others who had nothing to do with this tragedy. jeffy posted here not a 1/2 hour after the event that we would need "Good luck with this one Boys" As if we had anything to do with it at all.

Jon

Steve, nothing like the hard right, rather than calling out the cracker mentality and the obsession with Old South symbols, we always see them returning to the old chestnut of pinning the KKK affliations on Southern Dems of 50 years ago, like they bear any resemblance to Progressive thinking of 2015. The people flying confederate battle flags in 2015- lets just guess the percentage supporting our President for example..

Lets just watch the tortured group of Republican candidates finally have to answer to their party's association with the cracker South, the battle flag in places like MI and SC. That SC primary looms.....

Jon

not MI, rather Ole Miss.

It is code, and people here are expert at using code for hate, racism and intolerance.

Well this a little more paranoid than I'm used to from the cool, rational, "see's things as they are and not as we want them to be" Steve Frisch!

...and you cracked this "code".....please tell me more.....!

Jon

fish, read the NYT, read Think Progress and you will learn more. We will leave it at what you've read today. Best of luck!

steve frisch

Fish you have everything to do with it...I am 100% behind Jeff's comment, "Good luck with this one boys."

The issue many are bringing up is not the individual responsibility for Mr. Roof's actions, which I have posted elsewhere could not have been missed by friends, family and neighbors who had their eyes open, but the collective responsibility for supporting and being an apologist for a society that perpetuates racism and violence.

Every time George denies the true causes of the Civil War he is an apologist for racism.

Every time Todd misquotes civil rights leaders and calls them race baiters he is an apologist for racism.

Every time Walt says Zimmerman is a hero, or implies every shooting by a cop is justified, he is an apologist for racism.

Every time you demagogue the "Democrats are the KKK' meme (and post false quotes without even checking them), you are an apologist for racism.

I don't give a shit whether or not Roof's .45 was legally owned, he never should have had it, period, and if he had been a Muslim teenager in Dearborn shooting up a Synagog you would be asking how the government could be so incompetent.

It does not take a rocket scientist (although in the case of our host perhaps a mad rocket scientist) to see the code constantly perpetuated on this site.
