I'd prefer a less biased source......DHS.....well okay then!

George Rebane

StevenF 1236pm - Interesting data plot. It's more than a bit of what is known as a 'gee whiz graph' in the business. The raw deportation numbers per se are not anchored to population, Hispanic population, estimated illegal alien ingress, or anything that lets a knowledgeable reader compare border security performance under the various presidents. What's more clear is that Bush2 basically handed Obama the border security and deportation system which Obama then maintained at the raw number level while ingress levels have naturally increased. If so, then border security performance under Obama has declined. Meanwhile the actual number of resident illegal aliens in the country is multi-fold the 11M bandied about in the press. Coulter does a good job in reporting and documenting that to which no progressive voice has been raised.

fish

In 2014, each of these factors affected ICE operations and contributed to the number of ICE’s FY 2014 removals, which was 315,943, down from 368,644 in FY 2013. This report sets forth and analyzes ICE’s FY 2014 immigration enforcement statistics.

Perhaps that that coincides with the last election. Deportations seem to be on the wane now that it has passed.

Frisch I am not interested in your history rewrites. The proof is right there for all to see. Readers please don't pay attention to the lib rewrites. All one needs to do is read the newspaper or rent a history book to know Mr. Frisch is peddling BS.

Todd Juvinall

Fish, I am really familiar with how bureaucrats think and the kind of "research" they do. Mr. F is a consummate bureaucrat. Not trustworthy. (they plagiarize all the time)

Where is the proof for all to see, Todd?

I made a statement, that President Obama had deported more aliens than any other President, and I backed it up with figures from a trusted source. We could look at other sources and they would show substantively the same thing.

I never said, "more as a % of immigrants', as George seems to be implying (although data would support the fact that the raw number of illegal immigrants has actually declined since the recession).

Todd, if you think I plagiarized [sic], it is up to you to contend the DHS statistics. I doubt you can, but go for it.

The is a classic example of how facts that don't support your beliefs are dismissed out of hand, proving you are bringing half a wit to the table.

"China has been a big buyer." So say Greg about CA Munis.

Not at all true. Actually they are a very small time buyer up until now. Perhaps some Chinese are recently moving money to CA bonds as a safe haven during the recent bursting bubble there. CA muni prices have moved up very nicely in the last 3 weeks.

I made a statement, that President Obama had deported more aliens than any other President, and I backed it up with figures from a trusted source. We could look at other sources and they would show substantively the same thing.

Indeed you did. I don't fully trust the government statistics especially when presented by a painfully politicized department like DHS. I never trusted the DOJ reports either.

If you have corroborating sources (preferably from external organizations) I'm happy to see them.

Again I do note that under President "I'll have more flexibility after my next/last election" ICE/DHS organizations seem to be deporting less now that the latest Obama sacrament to democracy has occurred.

George Rebane

StevenF 127pm - No implication from me beyond what you claimed and what was backed up by the DHS. I was not really even criticizing you, but the (to me) obvious message that the DHS wanted to send.

For the interested reader - the subject graphic is formally known as 'information' since it contains 'data formatted to support specific decisions'. Here to convince the viewer (i.e. let viewer decide) that Obama is toughest on illegal aliens. To distinguish between information and data, we may recall that the formal definition of data is 'facts and beliefs about the real world'. The astute reader will immediately conclude correctly that multiple information sets can be constructed from any given data set.

George Rebane

'FBI, DOJ Colluded with IRS, Lerner to “Bring Criminal Charges” Against Conservatives' Well here's something that neither the lamestream nor progressives will touch. This will be a very deserved gift that keeps on giving during this election cycle.

Todd Juvinall

The "deportations" of a greater number are not to be trusted. What has changed under Obama is his Border Patrol sends people back at the border crossings and claims that as a deportation. In the past it was not counted that way at all. So, FISH is correct not to trust the information.

Steven Frisch

With all due respect after looking briefly at reports from The Heritage Foundation, The Reason Foundation, the Congressional Research Service, The Cato Institute, and the National Foundation for American Policy (a non-partisan think tank specializing in immigration and largely populated by former Bush II officials0, they all accept these figures. You may not trust DHS statistics, but researchers in the field do.

George Rebane

ToddJ 200pm - Excellent point. That and other dodgy counting conventions used under this administration require more care than usual in accepting govt stats at face value. Nevertheless, even StevenF's 1236pm graphic is revealing.

StevenF 210pm - I took the DHS figures at face value. What needs to be clarified is how 'deportation' is defined, and has it been redefined under Obama's watch. The border turn-around counts were well reported on FN and other conservative outlets. For obvious reasons the other side did not contend the Obama DHS definition.

Here's what the 12mar14 Washington Times reported - "Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson acknowledged Tuesday that his department’s deportation numbers are now mostly made up of illegal immigrants caught at the border, not just those from the interior, which means they can’t be compared one-to-one with deportations under President Bush or other prior administrations."

fish 300pm - Looking forward to your research. I was not surprised to find an 'expert' with an Hispanic last name at Pew Research citing and using the non-comparative DHS deportation numbers without even a blink of an eye. I guess it all depends on what point each is trying to prove ;-)

Todd Juvinall

The Obama sycophants have changed the definitions for numerous other things. Immigration deportations as GeorgeR has noted and even unemployment stats. GNP as well. All to suit the fantasy that Obama is a success. Orwell would be proud of the way Obama and his ilk have mangled common language to fit their political ends. Thank goodness we have other sources and a few whistle-blowers in the government.

Cherry picked in no particular order

1) Obama trying to force the DACA issue - http://reason.com/blog/2015/05/26/court-refuses-to-let-obamas-immigration

2) A little more in line with Mr Frischs claim with the likely political motivation behind it. Going back 50 or so comments, what in the tarnation is wrong with ant-immigrant, unless it is an invasion of fire ants or some kind of killer bee ants? Then it is not against our core values to be ant-immigrant. I figure I don't have much say in the matter on a large scale where ants migrate to.

http://www.quora.com/Did-LBJ-really-say-Ill-have-those-n*****s-voting-Democrat-for-two-hundred-years-when-passing-the-Great-Society-legislation

"The first known record of this quote is from Ronald Kessler's book Inside the White House: The Hidden Lives of the Modern Presidents and the Secrets of the World’s Most Powerful Institution, writing in 1996, a good 30 years after Johnson potentially said those words. Of course, that doesn't disprove anything, just casts reasonable doubt.

The comments in the AskHistorians thread confirm that the quote is consistent with Johnson's language in that he often used the n-word. However, the quote is not consistent with the sentiments he conveyed in other private conversations. He truly believed in equal rights, he just lived at a time when someone could say the n-word and no one would think anything of it."

Saw Boardman's hit job on gun owners today. As usual from a Lefty point of view fails to mention ANYTHING about citizens stopping crime with a gun, yet plenty can be found.
Just last week a gun shop owner stopped a break in, and sent one would be "street" gun salesman to a permanent dirt nap.

How many gun laws are already on the books Boardman? Yes, you did mention in passing the gun stolen from a Fed officer. How come not a word on who that was, and what HIS punishment will be? He failed to properly store HIS weapon. ( and "expert",, and "well trained")

How come no mention of Chicago? Strictest anti gun laws in the nation.. Uh,, hows that work'n out?

Those "statistics" you site are as questionable as global warming, since they come from the same line of "anti" thinking, and book cooking.

You keep your gun locked up. Good luck getting it if you need it. " wait Mr. thug while I remember where I put the key to the safe" ( or trying to fumble with the lock combination)
I suggest you invest in a police scanner, and listen to just what goes on in this county. See how long it takes for a 911 dispatch till any given cop shows up.

There was a break in right down the road from me over the weekend. The homeowner got the drop on the bastards, yet they still got away to rip someone else off. It took ten minutes for the law to arrive.

Thanks to the Ca. thug protection act, many crimes there WERE felonies are now misdemeanors. Including GUN THEFT! How does that play into your anti gun diatribe?

A criminal doesn't care how many laws you pass. They love your line of thinking.

Did Johnson ever use the "N" word? Probably. He grew up in segregated Texas and was a man of his times.

Did he use the word in the context suggested by Kessler, 30 years after the fact? Highly questionable. I'm guessing he got the "quote" from at least a second, and probably a third or fourth-hand source.

Trump could be the Ross Perot of 2016. Like Ross he certainly has the ego for it and is somewhat of a similar business tycoon that can fund his own way. The Pubbers are going gentle on Trump because they know he can do that. It's a big problem yet to be resolved.

I completely disagree with Mr. Boardman as to it's plausibility.

LBJ was as he mentioned "a man of his times" and faced with the political realities of his era almost certainly sought to salvage something from the exchange....the ability to successfully lock in a voting block in near perpetuity would be a reasonable exchange for what might otherwise be considered a political loss.

I think it's entirely likely that that phrase or one very similar was uttered by LBJ.

Mr Boardman said he doubted the context in which Kessler related LBJs use of the word. "Highly questionable"......were his words to which you agreed!

I don't believe it was highly questionable at all. LBJ had a reputation for coarse language notable even during that non PC era. His use of the term as well as claiming some political gain from what had to be considered an overall loss to the political powers of the time would have been in character for Johnson.

Todd Juvinall

LBJ had his own "negro" strategy for elections. It worked!

Bill Tozer

Well, boys, what we have here is lack of certifiable validation.
Oh, let's see now. LBJ was a lib. Libs say things like that. Robert Byrd did as well. Boy, The Distinguished Senator from West Virgiinny could not stop dropping the n word his whole life. But, he was a lib and left us with a nice taxpayer funded statue of himself. More importantly, he brought home the bacon.
Did hear about some unnamed high spirited playful hooligans committing some misdemeanor in the cover of darkness by putting white sheets over the statue's head, complete with a burning cross at the statue of the former Klan leader. They got away. Witnesses said they were wearing white sheets and figured it was them crazy Greeks from the local university throwing a Toga Party. So, perhaps only Ladybird would know. Strike that, she died. I liked her. Check out the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower site sometime if you are planning on sticking some drought tolerate plants into out lovely soil. A wealth of botonical information, but I digress.

So, did he say it or not? Did LBJ really sit on toilet in the Oval Office and then have the Secret Service usher in those wishing his ear? Yep. He was a lib though and though, despite his Ten Gallon Hat ways of communication. Wonder if Bobby Byrd got the Porcelian Throne welcome on one of his visits to Johnson. I bet he did. Left him shaking in his boots until the day he died.

George Rebane

fish 609pm - Then your 543pm directly misquotes me. My 524pm said that "(I) agree with Mr Boardman as to its plausibility." Where the confusion might have arisen is that Boardman cites two epochs in which LBJ plausibly used "nigger". Most certainly he did in his youth, but the point of the quote here is that he also used that appellation in private during his political life which includes his presidency. What I'm reporting is that the quote was attributed to him quite frequently in the 1960s and 70s by multiple sources. Then when political correctness began to descend over the country, awkward reports like that were heard less frequently to the point where today, witness Mr Boardman, the man's record has been scrubbed clean.

It is hard to conceive that LBJ had an epiphany about his feelings toward the blacks when he pushed through CRA1964. He evinced no animosity toward African-Americans, but he did consider them as an extremely manipulable constituency, and during his lifetime LBJ was perhaps the country's most accomplished manipulator, reverting to scripture as required - "Come now, let us reason together."

Bill Tozer

Walt @ 5:39 pm. Give em hell, Harry.

Bill Tozer

Oh my Walt, an army of coons? How could you ever post that link without some extremely big warnings and the usual disclaimers. An army of coons? Bet Truman was a cracker. Well, at least with Truman, we can gather his quotes and lay them on his gravesite with the inscription "The buck stops here." Geez, not even someone as crass and tasteless as moi has never uttered such a phrase. Guess we can always find some scroundel or lib who is worse than ourselves to find comfort in. A army of coons was not referring to Daniel Boone's source of his famous caps I am willing to bet.

Bill Tozer

Think I will change gears after reading unsettling facts about Dem Presidents. Nothing new under the sun. Or maybe something new. I am not convinced that those "wildlife cameras" we're actually pointed at wildlife. Nature lovers? Yes. Wildlife?, maybe, maybe not.

Another drought related impact on a business.

As predicted: Taxpayers will get the retirement bill:

CalPERS misses its target return by a wide margin -- The California Public Employees' Retirement System said its fund returned just 2.4% on its investments for the year ended June 30, a huge miss from its 7.5% investment target and a worrisome result for California taxpayers who must make up for any shortfalls in funding pensions. Dean Starkman in the Los Angeles Times$ -- 7/13/15

George Rebane

RussS 955pm - Thanks for that update; the announcement was long expected since everyone in the world knows what kinds of returns come from debt and the equity markets have done nothing. What should be pointed out is the insane hope and deep draughts of Kool-Aid that was required for the state's progressives to keep their faith in the 7.5% from its first announcement some years back (to pooh-pooh the amount of CalPERS' unfunded liabilities) until presumably now. Socialists don't do economics and finance very well, and they have a hard time with numbers.

George Boardman

My stocks were up about 22 percent in the period CalPERS made just 2.4 percent. Maybe I should get one of those cushy six-figure consulting deals to show CalPERS how to make money in the market.

Russ Steele

Finally:

State and local governments will no longer be allowed to hide the true costs of the long-term benefits provided to government workers.

A recent change by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, known simply by the acronym GASB, forces government bodies to be more transparent in reporting pension liabilities and long-term commitments for retiree heath care. Among the changes: the liabilities must be reported on the first page of financial reports instead of being buried in a footnote.

With the latest CalPERS results, anyone want to guess what Nevada County's unfunded liabilities are? It will soon be front page news.

This is how the fascist leadership of the Teacher's Union does their endorsements of candidates. Teachers said "Hey, no one talked to us"! (paraphrased)

http://eagnews.org/no-freaking-way-teachers-revolt-over-unions-endorsement-of-hillary-clinton/

Todd Juvinall

Oh and Hillary was dissing Republicans like Trump at of all places, the La Raza get together. The racist group of latinos! You just can't make this stuff up!

Brad C.

Real, or fake ? --- “Keep screwing (with us) and I’m going to make you eat your fucking words you lousy white faggot,” said the Twitter account with the user name @ElChap0Guzman.

Two massive egos duking it out on Twittter...or did The Donald create the Guzman sock puppet so he had someone to Tweet with?

Joe Koyote

The fact that some of you are enamored with Trump says a lot. Trump proves beyond a reasonable doubt that one does not have to be intelligent to accumulate wealth, especially if you inherit it. That anyone would think that he would make a good president goes beyond reason and into the realm of fantasy. A look at his hairdo should be enough to convince any astute person that the man is not playing with a full deck.

George Rebane

JoeK 954am - So which of Trump's talents allowed him to accumulate wealth, and how can the rest of country with similar deficiencies, no matter how they comb their hair, replicate Trump's accomplishments?

I take it you don't want criticize what he said, only what the Left claims that he meant.

Todd Juvinall

We can always depend on the loony left to diss anyone on the right with personal attacks. His hair? That is the best you fools on the left can some up with? Apparently so. The drug dealing mass murderer El Crapo is a Trump sock puppet? Jeeze the left in America has been on prozac far to long.

What I like about the country is anyone can run for anything. When I see these loony left attacks on a person I know they are scared to death. Their freeloading days on the taxpayer might come to an end so they do the DAILYKOS best to destroy.

I am supporting Walker right now, so Trump is not my guy. But to denigrate him as you loons are doing is truly amazing. Most lefties here are failures in business anyway. Hillary Clinton is your candidate and if anyone has a lot of stuff in the closets maybe you should go there and let us know what they are. The left is going to be trounced across America in 2016 at all levels (maybe even the urban areas) because they are truly anti-American in their policies.

Joe Koyote

"how can the rest of country with similar deficiencies, no matter how they comb their hair, replicate Trump's accomplishments?" it's called inheritance George.. like the Kochs, the Waltons, and most other radical right political activist billionaires. They never had to lift a finger to be wealthy, all they had to do was preserve it, no real accomplishment actually if you have good financial advisors. In fact, the most likely determining factor in accumulating wealth in America is inheritance, not innovation or hard work. Most billionaires just got it handed to them by their daddies while they were raised by nannies and then shipped off to boarding school. Not a real psychologically stable childhood that seems to often play out in narcissist delusions of grandeur promulgated by using their wealth and power to impose their values on there rest of us. I just don't trust people with comb overs or toupees, it is a sign of insecurity just like fake tits.

Oh Todd, BTW, Hillary isn't my candidate. "Most lefties here are failures in business anyway." another piece of astute wisdom from Todd. Most billionaire conservatives are morons so what is your point?

fish

Most billionaire conservatives are morons so what is your point?

SEE!! You do have something in common with "The Donald"!

Bill Tozer

Oh Todd, may I suggest you show a wee bit more kindness to our feathered friends on the Left in their hour of need. After all, they are stuck with Hillary as their gal.

Walker the Union Buster is coming. Quick, hide the children and put the old ladies in the storm cellar. Danger lies ahead. This should be fun watching the libs bash Walter as they advoid mentioning their lovely bride, the former First Lady, the former broke First Lady. The one, the only, the next Great White Hope to rectify White Lib Quilt, their sweet and charming gal, simply known as Hillary.

Well, Walker is on board. That makes 15 and tomorrow Gov. John K of Ohio will make it 16. Who besides Walker has reformed them antiquated teacher tenure rules? Can't thing of one other person alive that has even got close to it in any state without being hung on the Tree of Woe and his/her entails cast to the vultures. And Walter did it in a blue state. He deserves a look.
Which conservative besides John K ran for elected office as a newbie in a blue district during the height of Watergate and (gasp!) and won? This is great. But, let's not be boastful. Try to hide the glee, Todd and Right thinking others. We must always try to walk a mile in another's moccasins. Remember the Left is stuck with Hillary. Alas.

Joe Koyote

Good one Fish, not.-- tell me why do conservatives champion spoiled rich kids rather than hard working Americans?

Posted by: Joe Koyote | 14 July 2015 at 11:17 AM

Don't know....not a conservative.

Todd Juvinall

Fish that was so funny. JoeK and Trump share being morons. What a hoot!

Bill Tozer

Think Joe K has The Donald envy. Trump ain't my guy, but I just can't get enough of those sweet words The Donald leaves behind. Shocking, is it not? Looking solely at the libbowels' shock and awe....er...shock, disdain, and vitriol concerning The Donald, I don't have to even read what he said. Whenever The Donald calls 'em as he sees 'em, the lib's heads look just the mellons Walt has out on the fence posts after target practice. Thank you Joe K and extended family for your opinions. Keep those cards and letters coming, kiddies. And thank you for refraining from using Bozo no-no's when Mr. Trump speaks to you. Priceless.

Walt

Damn it!!.. Bill must be looking over the fence again. Now just don't tell who's pictures are taped to said mellons. I have upgraded my reloading equipment, and been busy tuning it to the proper load specs. I can now crank out 100 .308 rounds in ten minutes. ( and that's taking my time)
Growing a new batch of targets as well.

Trump is now leader of the pack and gaining steam. Even the Mex drug lord who escaped is pissed.
I happen to like what "the rich guy" has to say. He didn't get rich by being stupid.(as some here claim he is)
The "class envy" groups are good at calling names. The "class envy" types need to get a job.

George Boardman

From a fiscal point of view, Trump is probably the ideal Republican candidate for President. The Donald almost lost his empire in the '90s, but he owed the banks so much money, they couldn't afford to let him go under.

When you consider how we run the government on debt, Trump would fit right in.

He also seems to have (if you will) personal worth issues when it comes to how much money he has. Few people cooperate when Forbes does its annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, but Trump tried to convince the magazine several years ago that he was worth more than he was.

Then there was the time he sued an author for writing in his book that Trump was worth less than he claimed. The case as dismissed.

Don Bessee

Some of you may have seen the front page article in the union today that claimed SAM (smart approaches to marijuana) was making a presentation to the County BOS today. It was news to SAM too as the person who was mentioned as making our presentation was out of the State today and we had no such plans. Turns out that the individuals email account was hacked and hijacked and an email was sent to media outlets as a genuine SAM press release from the individuals email account and the Union took it at face value without confirming with any SAM folks. (the union will be doing a story on the story within the story) This is only one of a number of very odd happenings related to emails in recent weeks and continues the pattern of harassment of anti drug orgs. Guess the pot profiteers are worried and feel the need to create more problems than they already do.

Patricia Smith

I'll bet you dollars to donuts that this PR from SAM came from someone within their organization. It is ty[pical of Besse to try to slime his opponents with having created the PR. Me thinks he doth protest too much. I hope DeSena publishes the findings of his forensic expert.

This is reminiscent of the time Bessee claimed I was Pollly Parrot - until George revealed that I was not that poster - and no more posts have been seen by the mysterious Parrot since then. Curious?

Todd Juvinall

A local blogger said this on their blog today.

"We are longtime fans and generous donors to the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, so I was glad to hear about this project"

I have never met a "generous" liberal with their own money. I wonder how much? LOL!

Bill Tozer

To Don the Graceless and Patricia the Gracious (sorry Don, I got a soft spot for her tribe); BOTH of you should read Brad C's 9:17am comment this morning:

Real, or fake ? --- “Keep screwing (with us) and I’m going to make you eat your fucking words you lousy white faggot,” said the Twitter account with the user name @ElChap0Guzman.
Two massive egos duking it out on Twittter...or did The Donald create the Guzman sock puppet so he had someone to Tweeter."

Now, is it not obvious who this mysterious hacker, impersonator, and all around mischief maker really is? It's that fugitive from justice, Mr. El Chapo Guzman. He really has no tolerance for Don or Patty's safe and sane legal cultivation. That's no tolerance for Don and no tolerance for Patricia Smith's advocation. :)
Consider this evidence: Is it not a bit odd that after "Chuey's" recapture awhile back, Polly Purebreed Parrot went silent. Now that El Chapo is on the loose, havoc has returned. El Chapo is coming to a blog near you and boy o' boy, I believe he is rather pissed off. That sock puppet sure has some anger issues along with his failure to get along with others. Let the readers beware. My good deed of the day.

Bill Tozer

My, Chuey was born on Christmas Day in La Tuna, TX. I bet he was the cutest Christmas baby ever. His being born in La Tuna (it wasn't his fault) may explain the influence of environment on the formation of his personhood, FYI.

Don Bessee

What's really interesting is a) pattie failed to show up this morning at the BOS when she always does for all matters pot related. b)One of my Directors suddenly is locked out of email using the password that worked the night before (DeSena is not a Director) c)No one is protesting but pattie. d)On the union website pattie claims DeSena got cold feet. Interesting premise but like most asa premises it is flawed, he was out of state at the time of the BOS meeting. e)The long history of acts including some recent stuff related to a phony sheriffs business card that was photoshopped and peddled to he whos name we will not speak as a real document which of course he bought into until the obvious failings were pointed out.

Patricia Smith

Oh Don, do you really want to go there? Even your allies are starting to see how deceitful you are. I will address your concerns in order:

1. I did not show up at today's BOS meeting because a) I didn't hear about it until the meeting was half over, and b) my car isn't starting so I didn't have a way to get there.

2. Don't know what to say about your director getting locked out of your email (has nothing to do with me).

4. I said possibly DeSena got cold feet, but I now don't believe he sent the PR but we both have our suspicions who did. (he contacted me via a PM on FB about this)

5. I talked to two separate people who claimed that you handed them the phony business card stating that you are a NC Deputy specalizing in MJ eradication. Maybe we should hire a forensic specialist to look into this matter also. I already offered to take a lie detector test. Are you willing?

Todd Juvinall

No phone call of condolence by Obama to the Steinle family. He called all the blacks but not the whites. Obama is a racist.

Walt

Todd. It's not politically expedient to say a thing to the Steinle family.
No riots to fan the flames, The family is White, the killer a constituent, and it took place in LIB land.
No don't forget the guy up in Seattle that is an illegal with a similar rap sheet and deported many a time, who killed and set afire some poor bastard who didn't pay his drug bill.

Trump/ Walker would be a good ticket.

Walt

Just read about the fake email.. Someone is out to make someone look bad.
"False flag" game playing at work? ( That wold be from a pissed potster)

Don Bessee

IN RE item 5 madam smith- The details of your crews game on this has been widely disseminated and the fact that it was so obviously a scam is known to all. So name the two upstanding citizens who could have filed a crime report but knowing a false report is a crime unto itself declined knowing the VSA was in their future. My God you had the wrong logo and phone number you idiots! ROFLOL .... We see you guys freaking out on how the election is shaking up in Cali. You guys cant agree on anything at a State level. We are better positioned and better organized at this point than ever before and we won all those past battles did we not? I know it galls your gang that I have young democrats in the rich coastal Counties engaged with us and working for our kids and property rights. :-0 snap
