[Gun control. Correspondents keep sending me data on gun homicides compiled by the WHO. For those who truly know something about ‘gun violence’ in America, these data are not new (which says a lot about our progressive counterparts). It turns out that the US doesn’t even make the top 100 countries in the per capita murders with firearms in the world. But the more remarkable stats reveal that if the murder rates in our top for-decades-Democrat-controlled cities were averaged to, say, Plano, TX, the ‘gun nut capital of the world’, then our gun homicides rate would become lower than Switzerland’s, where everyone is armed. The point I want to make here is that it is the liberal and Democrat constituents in the deepest and most gun-controlled enclaves in the country where wanton killing goes on day-in and day-out, all to the silence of the country’s leftwing leadership and their lamestream media. If ever there was an example of evil hypocrisy, a gift of silence that keeps on killing, … . Add to that the Left’s lies (e.g. "gun violence" = gun murders) in their constant effort to subvert the Second Amendment and disarm law abiding citizens, then you have the essence of how our friends across the aisle are fundamentally transforming America. Watch this short video in its entirety for a snootful on the topic. gjr]

NPR's climate expert thinks it's entirely consistent with an El Nino, "Jon"... and the high of 58 forecast for the 25th is well below the record for December set in 1998, in an earlier El Nino.
It's weather, not climate.
Posted by: Gregory | 19 December 2015 at 09:27 AM
Again, the NPR expert thinks the high earlier this month, of 69 degrees (iirc) might have been 68 degrees without AGW, no ones really knows ; that's close enough if you take a CO2 sensitivity of from 1 to 1 1/2 degree C for a doubling of CO2, and the rise from 300ppm to 400ppm, still 200ppm short of the first doubling.
"Jon" reminds me of a little poem that an engineer I once worked with (a Brit) would recite when management got unhinged:
When in trouble, when in doubt,
Run in circles, scream and shout.
There is a warming effect of CO2, "Jon", it's just much smaller than natural variations.

Anyone besides me it ironic about Hillary whining to the high heavens about a breach of her secure data, dishonest answers to inquiries, and trying to make this Watergate II (without the Republicans). Oh Bernie,be careful. She will sic the Bimbo Squad on your trailer park trash sorry butt.

Guns.
http://patriotpost.us/posts/39587
The year in review:
As anticipated, Obama renewed his assault on the Second Amendment in March, this time with a regulatory back-door ammo ban. But the ruse drew the immediate attention of 238 House members, who signed a strong letter of protest to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). The agency backtracked, claiming the regulation as printed “was an error.” For Obama and his leftists, the “inconvenient truth” is that, by every objective measure, more guns equal less crime. Of course, the real motive behind the Left’s “guns and ammo” ban is to undermine the ability of today’s American Patriots to defend Liberty and Rule of Law.

Anyone notice that no one is concerned about the Dem candidates' chops on foreign policy. Sanders and O'Malley haven't shed any light on their familiarity with what's going on out there, and have no plans to go tour the countryside. The only one about whom the voters know is Hillary because she has a record demonstrating that she knows nothing about foreign policy (red plastic buttons notwithstanding).
Posted by: George Rebane | 20 December 2015 at 07:33 AM
Back to guns. Is Sweden the canary in the coal mine? In Sweden you can be arrested for sleeping with a baseball bat under your bed. At least the woman folk are taking notice, even though they cannot own a firearm for self-defense. Good time to invest in European home security companies if you care to sent your dollars across the pond.
http://www.wnd.com/2015/12/wake-up-time-in-europe-time-to-get-armed/
Dr Rebane. Bernie tweeted during the last Republican debate on foreign policy "45 minutes into the debate and not one word about income equality!" Thus, no wonder Bernie and the liberals want to neatly brush the topics of foreign policy and national security under the rug, save for making us more like Sweden. They just aren't into those kind of foreign policy issues. Libs like to nest and let others worry about how to protect the nest (if it does not cost too much money or take away from social programs). No balance if that is the gist of your 7:33am..

When police are hours away or just plain not available, the social contract between state and the people has been broken. Similar to the last link, but the 2nd part of this link explores the social contract. As I have pointed out before, one of the grievances in the Declaration of Independance was the Crown not keeping up with their end by failing to protect the people from "savages".

Remember when the "G" man wanted doctors to ask uh,, questions?
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/30790522/gun-permit-applicants-denied-over-medical-dispute
"The Honolulu Police Department is requiring a doctor's note that many doctors are not willing to write."
"HPD officers are now handing out a memo to gun permit applicants that states a doctor must sign a note on official letterhead stating the individual "shall own, possess, or control any firearm or ammunition and has been medically documented to be no longer adversely affected by the addiction, abuse, dependence, mental disease, disorder or defect".
"It's some kind of new legal mumbo jumbo about I have to admit that I was treated for mental or drug abuse which I have never done, so that would be a lie. Kaiser says they won't do it so you have to seek an outside doctor. I did so, and they did not accept that doctor's letter," he said. "

Hillary's latest lie and logic, did everyone catch it? In the debate she claimed that ISIS was using Trump videos to recruit members. Turns out they haven't done that, but her two handlers - campaign manager and 'communications director' - did the Sunday shows declaring that Hillary won't retract any of that bullshit, because ISIS could very well do that in the future, and she knows what they are really thinking.
We are aware that the Lying Left has told us for decades when they put words in our mouths (often in double quotes) that it was what we really meant because 'we know what you are thinking'. Now it appears that this remarkable function has been expanded to include those devious Muslims. So watch out, none escapes the gimlet eye of Hillary the Queen of Hearts.

Spenseville refuge near Beale has some pigs but they are pressured enough to remain primarily nocturnal. Pigs can wreak havoc in people's gardens and lawns and have been pretty destructive on some properties on and near Perimeter Road. If you know any folks that way you'll likely get permission. Most residents will ask that you use a bow rather than a firearm while shooting near their neighborhood. A MUCH better bet for pigs is in Sonoma and Lake County and in the hills south of Monterey Bay. Unless you have access to private land, it is largely a mix of luck and paying your dues until you cross paths with a pig on public land. Good luck!

With Trump as its standard-bearer, the GOP would suddenly be asked to rally around a candidate who has been called by his once and former primary foes “a cancer on conservatism,” “unhinged,” “a drunk driver … helping the enemy.” A prominent conservative national security expert, Max Boot, has flatly labeled him “a fascist.” And the rhetoric is even stronger in private conversations I’ve had recently with Republicans of moderate and conservative stripes.......

Not sure about any redeeming qualities. It should be an interesting election season.

That's why I'm voting third party John. No chance for Hillary to be in prison though. Even Agnew didn't go to prison and he was caught taking bags of money for influence while at his desk in the White Hours.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 21 December 2015 at 04:56 PM
John,
I know its been your dream to "get" one of those damn Clintons, harking back to the American Spectator circa 1992. Didn't happen then, even with 6 years of a multi-million dollar full-court press of accusations. Not going to happen now.
Sorry.
Unless the GOP can somehow prop up their Cupie Doll candidate, a not-so-bright, but very handsome, Mr. Rubio, its not really going to be a very close election.

uh oh, the spelling is KEWPIE doll. Bad bad bad on me.
Posted by: Jon | 21 December 2015 at 05:05 PM
Agnew was the VP, HRC is a private citizen pimping for a job. Don't be too cocky about the outcome of the asshole vs criminal contest. The people are fed up, and might just pick an ahole to drain the swamp for us.
Posted by: John | 21 December 2015 at 05:07 PM
A little chewing of the LIBs running for Prez. Poor sanders is crying foul, and filing lawsuits against Hillary,, Hillary is buying the DNC, (who is pretty much BK and behind on bills... Ya.. dead broke) Then the official word from the FBI,"Criminal investigation".
Now... When will the "official charges" be filed? There is a certain General who was indicted for less.(and a Repub...)
You don't jail a Clinton.. Right Lefties? Libs are above the law. Especially a political one, or a bureaucrat of the same stripes.

Clinton being jailed by a Democratic Justice Department? You're dreaming John

I recall that Obama and Clinton had some very nasty things to say about each other in 2007 and 2008, too, yet she still became his administration's Secretary of State and without the demise of their party.

Polls taken 10.5 months ahead of elections have been known to fail to accurately predict the outcome.

Of course Kesti but they do measure public opinion at the time taken and are taken very seriously as a gauge of public opinion and are an aide in determining political strategies .

"The people are fed up....etc" so say John
Yes, many of us have acknowledged all along that a portion of the aging, white male demographic in America are fed up. Yup. The President talked about that very subject today as matter of fact. But you guys are gradually dying off and a decidedly minority voting block in today's America. Dems da facts, John! I am real sorry we cannot return to your nostalgic vision of America.
Demographics are everything.

Jon 1910
Ah yes, 'twas a battle of demography and it has been won. The 2015 impotence can't be cured with their little blue pill. AMF
Posted by: ron | 21 December 2015 at 07:24 PM
Yes whatever the 'jon' is, demographics are everything. Madam pantsuits has already lost the soccer moms and the decline to states. You can pin your hopes on an aberration but the cyclical history tells us that Rudi and Newt never made the cut and they were all the rage a year out from the election.
Have fun with your 6% of the electorate that cares about global warming, 0's perceived biggest threat to national security. Just ask all your dream coat of friends that are just some lame rhetoric in support of your tired talking points. I know I can and have filled large meetings of people of color in the real world. ;-)
Posted by: Don Bessee | 21 December 2015 at 07:52 PM
Jon, your head in the sand is making look foolish. Every poll on the subject of "is the country headed in the right direction" is in the 70% range with a resounding NO. Since you are clearly one of the 30%, could you articulate one thing that is going right in this fantasy world you are living in?
Posted by: John | 21 December 2015 at 07:55 PM
aww fellers, time has passed you by. Your voices, opinions and ridiculous positions have no place in 2015. Even in sleepy ole NC you are dinosaurs. Perhaps you should all fall back to Ruby Ridge with Scott Oblubbermutter for a final stand. I say good riddance.
Posted by: ron | 21 December 2015 at 08:19 PM
Is that you Michael? Are you off your meds again?
Posted by: John | 21 December 2015 at 08:28 PM
Jon @ 7:10pm.
"I am real sorry we cannot return to your nostalgic version of America."
Well, Jon, if you are real sorry, I wil forgive you again. Not for your mocking words and jabs, but simply because that is the kind of conservative I am.
Yes, Jon, I grow nostalgic at times. Having the kids walk to school without worrying about them, save crossing the street when no cars approaching.. Those were less stressful times. Ah, I wax nostalgic in my golden years, then I die. Warms the cockles of me weary heart.

The Repubican candidates are all toast, each and every one of them. No use even getting off my rocker. I know this to be true because I, too, follow the Presidential race.

Hey bessee 1952, 32 of 50 states now have MMJ, four state have outright legalization others have decriminalization and more will follow. The feds(Repub house and all, snicker snicker) recently lifted their ban on MMJ, paving the way for the rest of the country. I dare say, "mission accomplished". Your position is a complete and total failure, of course you only contributed in your own special little way. ;)

John 2028,
That was quite a zinger, perhaps we should all celebrate with a shot of Metamucil and a nap. Only then can we begin to make 'merica great again.

Don and others
The thing to remember about Trump and Cruz is that they are hated by the Republican establishment and particularly by the big money folks-National Chamber of Commerce, Wall street, international corps etc etc. they know they can work with Hillary because they got along so well with Billy boy and they both can both be bought. I'm not sure you can buy Trump and that makes him a threat. The establishment in both parties hate populism because it involves passionate followers (Tea Party etc)
Newt never made the cut because he's actually a conservative intellectual with real principals and a practical way of looking at solutions (immigration for example which sunk him in 12) and a brilliant man.
If Cruz gets the nomination he's going to have to answer every time that if local police stop someone who is an undocumented immigrant they will be responsible for sending him to immigration cops and shipped out of the country even if they may have children here, a good job and have lived a peaceful life for 20 years. The majority of Americans won't buy that population. Rubio is the Pubber the Dems fear the most for sure that has a chance at the nomination. Bush is headed for Perryland and the rest don't have a chance. The Repubs have a sure winner with Kasich and Rubio (VP) because they would surely carry Ohio and Florida but Kasich is a Reagan Conservative and that won't qualify as being Conservatively Correct these days. That ticket would scare the crap out of the Dems but it will never happen. What is happening is qualified Conservatives such as Graham, Bush, Kasich and Perry are passed over because they are not radical enough for the hungry crowds who need to be fed raw meat to satisfy their hunger. The problem is that while they may be a slim majority of the Pubbers they are a distinct minority of the voting electorate as a whole and will not win head to head with Hillary once the campaign is just down to two parties.
So Trumpers have a good time and if you win remember he is a dream come true for the Dems.

Well, since we are all resigned to be stuck with Hillary (save bonking her head again) until 2024, lets see what a seasoned revered Democrat pollster has to say. Amazing stats he quotes, FYI. It's all about demographics?

CalWatchdog: CA breaks gun sales records
Californians have drawn national attention by buying more guns in the wake of the terror attacks in San Bernardino.
“Californians have already bought a record number of firearms in 2015, including major spikes in sales on Black Friday and the days after the San Bernardino attacks,” reported the San Jose Mercury News, citing new federal and state data on the sales. “Firearms purchases in California triggered 1.51 million federal background checks in the first 11 months of the year, breaking the previous annual record of 1.47 million set last year,” the paper added.
The reaction to the San Bernardino shootings was swift, with “as many as 6,000 guns being sold a day in the days after two jihadists massacred 14 people,” according to Fox News. “Figures provided by the California Department of Justice to FoxNews.com show that in the four days after the massacre, there were 20,664 sales, compared to only 12,649 from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.”

"The Repubican candidates are all toast, each and every one of them." Bill Tozer
Hey Tozer, pretty much agree with that sentiment. Coulda been different had the calm, cool, collected voices and brains taken charge of the GOP. But ironically, after making fun of progressives as being too in touch with feelings- the GOP base has shown itself to utterly emotion driven. To its detriment.

Note to 'ron, jon, brad, martin or lefty jeffy' what ever you are, you may have noticed we have won every election in CA in the last few years. Do not be surprised to see CO make a major shift next year. Then there was that little Ohio thing and the DC bid was squelched by the feds too. Keep shoveling that bovine scatology. The medical research is developing real medicine and not a screen for stoners to hide behind patients anymore. Funny the 'ron' like the 'jon' goes lower case on the sock puppet personas. Thanks for using my little fun close. Tells us all it bothers you. ROFLOL ;-)

Paul Emery totally nailed it at 9:01 with the ticket the GOP should have gotten their hands around months ago- John Kasich and Marco Rubio. Young, Handsome Marco wouldn't do any damage, and wouldn't have become such a phony to move into contention for the Big Job. The GOP could have put up a ticket with an actual thoughtful adult in charge. Its now become the party of screaming undisciplined, disliked brats like Trump and Cruz.
Posted by: Jon | 21 December 2015 at 09:48 PM
Don, who the heck is Martin? LOL. And the Pubbers have won every election in the last few years?...oh boy, please do tell us more Don.
Even the GOP admits the GOP is dead in CA! Your words are the very definition of DELUSIONAL! But its OK, really..its OK.

Jon
I think Don is referring to local elections around Pot cultivation. He fails to note that the recent new cultivation laws signed by the governor which legallizes cultivation for medical pot has the endorsement of Calif law enforcement since they played a major role in the negotiations that led to the new legislation. It's a whole new ball game folks.
"“This new structure will make sure patients have access to medical marijuana, while ensuring a robust tracking system,” Brown wrote in his signing message. “This sends a clear and certain signal to our federal counterparts that California is implementing robust controls not only on paper, but in practice. He noted that some of the standards, including the licensing system, don't take effect until Jan. 1, 2018. But, he said, “state agencies will begin working immediately with experts and stakeholders on crafting clear guidelines, so local government, law enforcement, businesses, patients and health providers can prepare and adapt to the new regulated system.”
An estimated 1,250 medical marijuana dispensaries are operating in the state, with sales of about $1.3 billion, according to industry groups.”

It seems some of the sock puppets cant keep the conversation straight. Pot advocates have lost every election in CA for quite awhile the 'jon' 'ron' or what ever. So you know all the others and only deflect the dreadlocked martin? Very telling the 'jon' lefty jeffy or other delusional identity, how did that head shop fiasco work out? Shouldn't that be 'emotionally driven'? Tag that bong again big boy! ;-)
Posted by: Don Bessee | 21 December 2015 at 10:08 PM
Don, I really have no idea what the hell you're rambling about tonight. Sorry, I don't know ron, jon or martin, and am not really interested in your anti-pot obsession. Best of luck though.

PE you may have noticed that we won the big issues in AB266. Local control is paramount and no more store front pot docs, your recommending physician as defined by your insurance is the source of recommendations now. Reports form the 58 Counties say we are rolling big. In addition there is a business and professional rule for Docs that is in effect now. According to industry groups they would have won in 2012 and measure S should have gone down 70 to 30 as said by the pollster and VP of the americans for safe access last year. Keep selling, no one is buying. Normal people are voting against the wild west of weed in droves. You should have seen our 3 big recent events in Marin with Patrick Kennedy and Kevin Sabet, no love for legalizers. The times they are achanging. ;-)

Jon @9:38. that is indeed cool if you consider Trump a Republican. I don't. Trump is the Enough is Enough Canidate who happens to be running on the Republican side.
After reading Paul and others' glee over the Republican Party's dilemma about the Trump Problem, I also rejoice for different reasons. Tear down the house. All the articles about the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the "real Republican Party establishment" is music to my ears. And the media hyperventilating over what Trump is doing TO the party (complete with convential wisdom and feigned concern over their buddies the Republicans) is fantastic news. Take them down Donald, grind them into the dust I say.
Fish posted a great placard that said something like "Trump is the murder weapon and the target is the Republican Party" House cleaning time for those of us who are tired of being taken to the cleaners. A kind of in-party "consent of the governed" rebellion. Then the murder weapon will be used on Hillary with help from mainstream Democrats, if any are still out there.
Never underestimate the enemy, Jon. A pissed off electorate can move mountains and ideology is no match for deep seated widespread anger which is seething from sea to shining sea.
Wonder why you don't hear much from Rosie McDonald anymore. It's not about ideology, it's about pushback.
