[Last night Fox News reported the results of the latest polls on Obama's performance in the areas of foreign policy, national security, domestic policy. The results in all three areas are that about two out of three Americans believe the president is screwing up in these areas. But his 'come what may' supporters don't see any of these gross failures. But there were some defections from the lamestream over Obama's tone deaf speech to the nation Sunday night. And his new attorney general is coming across as a real double dummy when yesterday she declared that it's premature to judge and connect any specific religion to the San Berdoo attack since every religion has its radical elements. You can't make this stuff up; these are the idiots our liberal neighbors voted for and sent to Washington - twice! gjr]

What this exposes are the strategic aims of the Russian oligarchs who want to become the big kahunas in the natural resource and commodities markets here and worldwide. Their contributions buy off econut opposition to their products, and strengthen the US econuts because these people are very effective in getting business inhibiting laws and regs passed to weaken US competition.

I'm sure this felt good to the people who made it and distributed it, and to the like-minded people who saw it. But it didn't persuade anyone — other than, perhaps, a few more people to vote Republican. It's a classic example of guns-as-culture. In this bundle, guns mean Republican, guns mean conservative, guns mean not liking President Obama, guns mean religious, guns mean socially traditional, guns mean rural, guns mean football and Nascar and using fewer than five words to order coffee. The intended message may be "fuck the people who don't seriously debate gun control because they accept vast campaign donations and they are afraid of NRA-led primary attacks and who refuse to even consider whether there's something we can do about madmen spraying crowds of innocents with bullets." But your message is "fuck you and your flyover-country Daddy teaching you to shoot in the woods behind the house when you were twelve and fuck the church you went to afterwards."
Worth reading in it's entirety.

JERRY BROWN LETS IT ALL HANG OUT
This is the statement that caught my eye:
Later, at the site where world leaders are meeting to negotiate a climate pact outside of Paris, Brown urged a small crowd to “never underestimate the coercive power of the central state in the service of good.”
“You can be sure California is going to keep innovating, keep regulating,” the Democratic governor said. “And, shall I say, keep taxing.”

RussS 329pm - Yes indeed, California is a cancer inside a cancer and Moonbeam just corroborated it. That is socialism pure and simple. I have not seen a shred of difference between him and Bernie, except that Moonbeam is the executive of the nation's largest state and can continue to wreak massive damage to California and then America. There is no recovery in sight for California, only corporatism on steroids as capitalism attempts to game the system. But I am afraid that Lenin was right about that gaming. Instead of fighting socialism, the corporations are just manufacturing the rope with which Sacramento will hang the ones that don't get away.

Good Morning there Mr. Boardman. Conventional wisdom says Trump with rip the Republican Party asunder. Conventional wisdom says if the party goes with Trump they are doomed. If they reject Trump, they are doomed. Doom everywhere.
Well, since there is no upside either way, we might has well go down the Doom Road for awhile. We had MC Cain, then ethical good person Romney who could not even get the conversations off their rocking chairs and hobble to the polls.
I just don't see much conventional wisdom from the Max Headroom types getting it right this go around...yet. Think it is starting to dawn on some that their research and polling and smug words of wisdom may be wrong, dead on wrong. They can poll to the cows comes home, but they have greatly underestimated the real support behind the Trumpster Gangster. They cannot explain it because they have not quite been able to comprehend or apprehend what is really happening out there.
Is this a mere passing fad, or has Trump tapped into the minds of more that the typical suspects, aka, angry white beer swiggin' wife beater tee shirt wearing uneducated (stupid) clingers of guns and Bibles? Holy Bibles that is. Time will tell.
Just the fact that Trump is still standing upright today and yesterday tells me that conventional wisdom is grasping at straws to explain itself.

I used to really like Karl Rove. He has become a bit unhinged about Trump though. As a Texan I thought Karl would like Cruz but Jeb is a Bush and that seems to be a stronger tie for him.
All these people posting their conspiracy theories just crack me up. Now the original conspiracy of Trump doing all this so Hillary can beat the Repubs is out there again. This is sooooo fun!!!
Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 10 December 2015 at 12:09 PM
Oh yaaa.. Boardman,, Rove is one to listen too. He's GOP old guard. ( and real Conservatives be damned) Rove never had any love for the Tea Party either.
I get the news from Tea Party orgs from all over. ( you know,, the ones that elected many a person and tossed GOP and DEMS to the curb) They are backing Trump as well.
I see none wanted to touch what Rush stated about Repubs bitching about Trump and Hillary.
" if only a GOP can beat Hillary,, how come none of you can beat Trump?"
Funny,, there has been no answer to that from anyone.

But Rove still runs one of the big-bucks Republican PACs; as Johnny Roberts and the Supremes ruled, corporations are people with free-speech rights too. Guess what Karl's going to do with that money at the behest of his Republican establishment brethren.

Rove falls into the RINO category these days.
Some still just don't get it. The working stiff and those that still actually love the U.S. are DONE with the "business as usual" politician. The Repubs nailed their own coffin shut when "we" gave them both houses, then stabbed "us" in the back. They said they would do "plenty" if "we" elected them.. "they" didn't keep their end of the deal.
Posted by: Walt | 10 December 2015 at 01:58 PM
Mr Boardman,
I used to hang on Carl Rove's every word. He had some great insights into the demographics of elections, but he has become an hack for the Republican elites who fund his PAC. Follow the money.
Rove has been in an insider for too long, he is out of touch with the angry voters who are tried of having sh*t shoved on their plate by the President, backed up by a spineless Congress. We bought into the message, elect a Republican Congress and things will get better. They got worse, not better. The voters have has enough profession politics and people are willing to take a chance on another option.
I am not a great Trump fan, but he is more connected to reality than Rove. I would like a more electable candidate who is carrying Trumps message. Who is that? I do not know, but watch the Democrats who do they hate the most.
Trump cannot be bought and that pisses off the political consultants, of which Carl Rove in the king. The Republican elites has better get used to the new reality, as the middle class is shrinking and lower classes are growing, and they are the people who will vote for Trump. All those 45-55 college grads without a job are also Trump voters and they come from the R, D and I parties. They just want the economy to improve and Trump is their hero.
People vote their pocketbooks and the politician that promises to put the most money in that wallet. Trump is winning that battle right now.
Posted by: Russ Steele | 10 December 2015 at 02:23 PM
Yes Walt. Many white, conservative frustrated old timers such as yourself, feel that way. I agree. For many in this dying demographic group, Trump offers them their last best hope of a sentimental return to the 1940s and 50s, pre-sexual revolution, pre-Vietnam disillusion, pre-Civil Rights movement.
Ah but Walt- there exist a fairly substantial group of Americans who actually can think and spot a BS artist when they see one. A fascist by any other name. So check the scoreboard Walt, for the numbers are everything! Two Thirds of American registered voters polled either detest or have serious concerns about your candidate.
Best of luck getting your man to 51% of the American electorate.

http://dailycaller.com/2015/12/10/colorado-aclu-board-member-shoot-trump-voters-before-election-day/
"The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, “This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before election day.” They’re not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there’s always force, as Laurie would say."
The Progressives have sure dragged out the Nazi speak. Which is interesting since they are the ones who are anti freedom.

Mr Boardman, here are the views of a well known social observer, conservative author and columnist - Victor Davis Hanson:
P.C. Suppression Of Public Concerns Fuels Trump’s Popularity:
Pundits cite Trump’s verbal sloppiness and ridiculousness as proof that he must soon implode. But Trump sees his daily bombast as an injection of outrage for a constituency now hooked on someone who finally voices their pent-up anger. The more reckless Trump’s doses of scattergun outrageousness, the better the fix for his supporters. Trump’s vague “make America great again” was the natural bookend to Barack Obama’s even more vacuous “hope and change.”
The popularity of such empty slogans reflects a culture in which no one any longer trusts institutions, the media, government, or politicians. The public no longer respects U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the IRS, the VA, or the GSA. Even the once-hallowed Secret Service has become a near laughingstock of incompetency, corruption, and politicization. Is the purpose of NASA really Muslim outreach, as NASA chief Charles Bolden suggested in 2010?
The world that we are told about by our government bears no resemblance to what we see and hear every day.
For that matter, we do not believe what we are told by the main stream press either, as they are nothing more than Democratic hacks with a byline. An exception Fox News.

Very interesting Jon, just as I predicted before today. Do you why people like Trump?? Easy. Cause he is not afraid of the PC police, which never bother to discuss what he said instead of the more important "how he said it" mantra. Look, we get put down for being bigots and uncouth for nonchalantly saying "fingers on the blackboard" instead of the PC "on the chalkboard". We have been told what we think is wrong, what we do is wrong, what we enjoy is wrong, and all what our lower companion friends and family do for recreation is wrong.
We...er....most of our politicians on my side of the aisle foolishly live in fear of violating some tennat of totalitarian thought control and get branded as equal if not worse than some "can do no wrong, it's not his fault" homicidal maniac psychopath from the Stone Age. Fear that we might say the wrong thing or that your side will not like us.
Yes, Jon, you where correct to describe us as righties living in fear. We have had to couch our words carefully to not be misunderstood, but you saw right through that and knew what we really meant. We were grossly obtuse when we said All Lives Matter because in reality we hate everybody that did not originate from the "good part" of Europe, wink, wink. We were scared to look at the sky because we were told we should be ashamed and, through fear, we let shame or the fear of being disliked and being shamed shame us into keeping our mouths shut. We were told we cannot believe our eyes. Yes, fear controlled us. Well put Jon.
But, Jon, that fear has been redirected as anger. Yes, I am an angry person. And angry people do no longer care about being PC, no longer care about going along with liberals to get along, and frankly no longer care what you think of us. Our anger nullifies any suicide pact we past agreed to in our fearful desire for you to accept us more than the adopted bastard red headed lost (but very dangerous) souls that we are. A lower life form than you, but possessing souls nonetheless.
Our fear has been supplanted by anger and that anger is freeing us from the Control Freaks. Control freaks are controlled by the need to control. You can't help yourself, but we ain't playing your game anymore. We are more angry than a homeless person who just got ripped off of his last 35 cents.

Your gal Lynch thinks she can arrest someone for speaking ill of a Muslim. Good luck with that. Is that "your" reality?? ( Now leave with the gorillas in the white coats. It will do no good to resist. They are there to help protect you from yourself... OH,,, Nevermind, that's not covered by Obummercare. Your on your own.)

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/10/investigation-barack-obama-broke-laws-swap-five-taliban-leaders-bowe-bergdahl/
"The transfer of the Taliban Five violated several laws, including the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014. The constitutional arguments offered to justify the Department of Defense’s failure to provide the legally-required notification to the Committee 30 days in advance are incomplete and unconvincing. The violation of law also threatens constitutional separation of powers…"

WOW,, we have some well informed people running things.
A top law enforcement guy doesn't know the process.
Funny.. I did know the answer to the question.
http://dailycaller.com/2015/12/11/fbi-director-doesnt-know-what-happens-if-you-buy-a-gun-online-video/
"During a December 9, 2015, Senate Judiciary Committee meeting Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina asked, “If I buy a gun on the internet is it delivered to my home?” Comey responded, “I assume it is shipped to you but I don’t know for sure actually.”
Before looking at the story, who can answer the question?
Posted by: Walt | 11 December 2015 at 03:37 PM
Walt 337pm - that is beyond remarkable Walt, the FBI director does not know that the weapon will be shipped to your local FFL dealer. And he and other gun control ignoramuses have little knowledge of the laws already on the books. They see law abiding citizens with guns and immediately decide that those guns are the cause of "gun violence".
Posted by: George Rebane | 11 December 2015 at 04:09 PM
Yes, Dr. one of those "loopholes" "O" and LIBS say exist. (NOT)
There was a gun I wanted to buy over in Reno. NO DICE! for one, I was a Ca. Resident, and two, it wan't Ca. compliant.(they checked)
BUT if it was Ca. legal, they would have sent it to a local FFL shop. I would then pay that local shop a handling fee. (35 to 50 bucks, plus shipping) Go through the state paperwork all over again (after dealing with Nevada's) then the (found to be)Unconstitutional 10 day wait. So,, so much for the crap Moonbeam said about getting guns easy "next door".

Quote of the week. Dr. James Hansen, the “father of global warming” on the Paris global warming agreement:
“It’s a fraud really, a fake,” he says, rubbing his head. “It’s just bullshit for them to say: ‘We’ll have a 2C warming target and then try to do a little better every five years.’ It’s just worthless words. There is no action, just promises. As long as fossil fuels appear to be the cheapest fuels out there, they will be continued to be burned.”

Obammer will be addressing the nation on CSPAN tonight I heard. Climate change and bad weather (still mopping up the blood in Paris). When a country and its Supreme Court can call CO2 a pollutant, you know we have lost our minds. Anyway, more rhetoric for Greg Goodnight and Russ to dissect.

Local lefty blogger is promoting the Paris Climate Change Agreement. In reality it is a non-binding and toothless, regardless of all the environmentalist back slapping about Obama's legacy. It is a lame toothless legacy, that will tarnish Obama's historical reputation, as the poor people of the rich nations will end up making the rich in poor nations richer, for no change in the earth's temperature.
Dr Benny Peiser, the director of the Global Warming Policy Forum (GWPF):
“The Paris agreement is another acknowledgement of international reality. The deal is further proof, if any was needed, that the developing world will not agree to any legally binding caps, never mind reductions of their CO2 emissions.”
“As seasoned observers predicted, the Paris deal is based on a voluntary basis which allows nations to set their own voluntary CO2 targets and policies without any legally binding caps or international oversight.”
“In contrast to the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris deal removes all legal obligations for governments to cap or reduce CO2 emissions. This voluntary agreement also removes the mad rush into unrealistic decarbonisation policies that are both economically and politically unsustainable.”
Only in California will we rush into unrealistic decarbonisation policies under the guidance of Governor Brown.

Another fine post, Mr. Steele. Since Kyoto, it has been more bluster than substance, more bark with less bite.
Speaking of more bark than bite, I found this piece interesting. Yes, interesting. Both Mr. Emerys might enjoy it since it puts current events in historical context. More to ponder on a lovely evening as I retire to the library for a cup of cocoa and a good smoke.

Since Muslims do not kill innocents, that means those slaughtered were not innocents. Non-Muslims are guilty of being non-Muslims, therefore the victims of the shooting rampage were not innocents, and the shooters were not Muslim. WTF? Cremate the shooters. They were infidels.

BillT 620am - The evidence about the silent sentiment of the Muslim majority abounds. But like so many other factors impacting society and governance, the Left will simply not accept it - they are privy to higher truths. This divide of the mind will not be healed by anything short of new generations newly educated. And that will not be happening any time soon, or in time.

Get ready for Cruz vs. Trump fireworks in the next several weeks. Cruz by 10 in Iowa. Oh Boy, IT IS ON! It could be the beginning of the unraveling for Mr. Trump as a "loyal" GOP member. If you find yourself indoors at 2:30PM Pacific today rather than outside in the rain, I suggest streaming Harvard's 106th annual Christmas Carol Service "that includes readings by the clergy and a mix of traditional and contemporary carols and hymns sung by both the choir and congregation" from Harvard's Memorial Church, featuring the oldest collegiate choir in the USA and the only professional choir on campus, the Harvard University Choir. On Sunday mornings throughout the school year the uchoir supports the service but for this one, the choir is the focus.
More agnostic and atheistic friendly than most services as the readings are not the main act... stream it from whrb.org, is said by the Memorial Church to start at 2PM but the station has it listed starting at 2:30.
Few of you will be surprised to hear there is a NUHS graduate in the choir.

Gregory 917am - Thanks Gregory.
re Jon's 857am - FYI, Sen Cruz's Cuban-born father, Rev Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, is a Christian evangelical preacher and a very busy public speaker in support of his son's campaign. I can confirm this from a lengthy personal conversation with him when he last was in town. So Trump should use 'few' instead of "lack of".

Blogger schools the New York Times on international mass murders. It was published in the New York Times. And by proxy the President of the United States, "At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries." Wrong!
It is easy to tout the success of gun control laws in the rest of the Western world and to say that “this just doesn’t happen in other countries” when you ignore : the 1996 massacre of 16 children at a Scottish primary school; the 2000 killing of eight kids in Japan; the 2002 deaths of eight people in Nanterre, France; the 2002 killing of 16 kids in Erfurt, Germany; the 2007 shootings to death of eight people in Tuusula, Finland; the killing of 10 people at a Finnish university less than a year later; the 2009 killing of 15 people in Winnenden, Germany; and, needless to say, Anders Breivik’s 2011 mass murder of 77 Norwegians, most of them teenagers.
I will bet the Purple Shadow will not be cutting and pasting this on the Sierra Foothills Report. The Interent is changing how we communicate.

But those aren't gun deaths... it's an accepted fact among "gun safety" advocates that homicides of all types performed with guns would have been avoided if the gun had not been available... as if murder had been invented not when god created man (a term of art) but when Col. Colt made men equal.
The intentional killing rate in Japan is higher than the rate for the USA despite killing of self or others being easier with guns... when there is a will there is a way.
