Walt

The game worked once with that "wild and scenic" designation, so why not twice? Wait for number three to role around the bend.

Gregory

Good 'toon, would have been better with Izzy holding the business end of the dredge.

Jon

yeah Walt, that Wild and Scenic designation. Only the most important economic driver in this area for the last 30 years.

Best that you stay away from the Yuba River and let the thousands of visitors to Nevada County enjoy it, not to mention the thousands who descend on our twin towns in January and spend lots of $$$$$.

Don Bessee

Its ALIVE! 1213

Jon

Hey Bessee, how is your hangover this fine morning?

Todd Juvinall

I see "jon" is fantasizing again. The river was just fine until all this love came to it from the left. As soon as they controlled it algae blooms were running rampant and tons of trash was deposited along its shores. Then the head honcho built a monster house along the shores while others were discouraged. SYRCL now has grown like all these eco scams do and is suing the very taxpayers who fund them regarding other rivers. And they are trying to tear down Englebright. All the while being paid to remove mercury from Combie using, GASP! Dredges!

You just can't make this stiff up.

PS. They also put 40,000 people on the unemployment rolls with the ban on suction dredging. What a scam!

Walt

You just don't get it "jon". Way back when, the people of this aria didn't want the "designation".(save for a few ECO hipsters) Then Dizzy Izzy went politician shopping.
"Big economic boom" my ass. Bridgeport gets trashed every year by the lowlifes of Yuba Co.
How many lives does the river take every year? HELL! It just made the news again with a helicopter rescue.
I repeat the same unanswered question. Just "what" is scinic about a brush covered canyon?
It's one hell of a fire hazard. I have seen it burn more than once.

Yosemite it's not! Tourists? OK,, so a few show up. Can't get any more with that piss poor parking.
If it was SO much in demand, how come admission isn't charged?
BTW. we have been told the "underground WEED economy" is what's kept the money flowing in.
Ya' just can't keep the excuses. straight.

Russ Steele

The NorCal movement can only take advantage of Izzy Martin's underhanded action if they can get the attention of the initiative voters. They are not going to get any help from the lame stream press. While this blog has some reach, it does not reach the low information folks. The democratic controlledI legislature will vote for this bill unless it becomes publicly painful. I just do not see that happening. I hope the NorCall people can find ways to inform the public about how we have been screwed again by a tin-eared democratic controlled legislature and a local non-profit run by a bulldog progressive. Donating to local non-profits can have bad consequences. Remember that the next time The Sierra Fund has its hand out, or other non-profits that donate to The Sierra Fund.

Todd Juvinall

Any donations from the middle east to the Sierra Fund? Any Arabic names on the roster? Are they armed? LOL! That would be the only thing that might keep tax money from flowing to these eco ripoffs.

Don Bessee

And its not any smarter or wittier @1223 after slinking away tail between legs after those magnificent prognostications about the SB terrorist attack being a Christian attack. LOL! ;-)

Bill Tozer

Oh Don, they are just too upset to post. First, the Paris attacks came one day after Obama assured us all that ISIS has been contained and blew Black Lives Matter right off the front page. Then that loving couple in San Burdo came along and blew the Colorado Springs narrative right off the front page as well.
It's tough enough being a lib when the walls are tumbling down around their safe zones of monolithic thought, but just imagine how frustrating it is for them now that they hitched their wagon to the Crescent Moon.. Their Islamic narratives shot right out of the sky and now they are hitched to a falling star. Drats!, foiled again.
Sad. Keep the poor misguided saps in your thoughts.

Sorta' on topic - there is a movement to have the various eastern counties of Washington and Oregon become part of the state of Idaho. For the same reasons NorCal wants to part company with the rest of Kali.
A few very large cities in both Wash and Or control their entire respective state. They have little or no understanding of the interests and problems of the vast rural parts of these 2 north western states.
Simply merging with Idaho would be cost effective (no new govt to set up) and create a vast state of like-minded folks with a unified vision and world view. Of course there are more than a few folks in Boise that are quite alarmed at this idea as they would be rendered powerless. Yes Virginia, there is a thriving left-wing in Idaho.
One of the supposed Republican Senators is quite the big fed, big govt RINO.
The 'newspaper of record' in Idaho is owned by McClatchy and it is just a Democrat lap dog.

George Rebane

ScottO 643pm - There also was recently announced a movement to split off a part of Texas.

George at 7:24:
That would be Austin, Dallas and Houston?
What were the plans as to how to discard them?

Jon

You right wingers really ought to consider consolidating your efforts and either use your vast arsenals to annex a portion of Mexico (the best defense against immigration might be a good offense), or perhaps the entire State of Utah. Much more efficient to get the yahoos of Jefferson, Texas and Eastern WA and OR together. Only problematic items might be those weird Mormons in Utah..

Like most Americans of common sense, most of us tend to value other attributes in a state. Note the percentage of Red States here on the preferred states list...:)

Walt

Notice Ca. isn't on the list? (it used to be before LIBS trashed the place.)
And the downhill slide continues.

Don Bessee

wOW, these early comedy stylings from the 'jon' are lacking, just a huffpro butt puff.

"Like most Americans of common sense, most of us tend to value other attributes in a state."
And those would be? What?
Silence. Or crickets.
It's the official insect of the left.

Jon

Scott,
An educated populace, progressive minded neighbors, culture and the arts, diversity, a clean environment, sustainability.

Jon at 9:25:
So the neighbors have to think like you, but you claim you want 'diversity'?
And you want 'culture'.
Of what sort? There's 'culture' everywhere you go. What kind of 'art'?
Educated? You mean Gruberized little snow flakes melting at every micro aggression. If you want clean air, I'd suggest a rural area of a western state, Jon. Of course, there may not be enough fascism, er... 'diversity' for you out there. And you'd be expected to wipe your own nose and ... naw - better just stay where you are.

Bill Tozer

Is affordability on the list of the top ten? That is Patriot terroritory, NE Patriots that is. Hawaii? Daily national news for massive homeless camps. The only problem I have with Hawaii is everybody seems to catch island fever. Done makes some crazy. Besides, being surrounded by thousands of miles of wide open ocean, the air better been clean.

George Rebane

re Jon 925am - One wonders what in such a state would be sustained, and who would provide an educated populace and a clean environment. Unless I missed it, there was no mention of economics or enterprise or wealth generation from which only the discretionary part would go for such things including culture and the arts. Poor countries don't educate or take care of their environment; scrabbling for food and shelter and personal security always take precedence in spending whatever little you have to spend.

Both the USSR and Red China tried manufacturing wealth out of slogans - it doesn't work. The USSR collapsed and China quickly turned to private enterprise. Socialist countries in which the state owns the means of production and distribution remain poor. And that also is the essence of Obamanomics.

Bill Tozer

Maryland. Yep, after watching the riots going down, I felt like moving to Balimore. Sure, the finger of the Cumberlaand Gap that is part of Maryland is pretty, but that whole region smells like an open sewer approaching DC, IMHO. What about affordability, or is jon promoting places that only the top of the heap can live in comfort? To each his own.

Gregory

"So the neighbors have to think like you, but you claim you want 'diversity'?
And you want 'culture'."

"Progressives" tend to think their politics are what all intelligent and/or educated people can be expected to share; opposition is from those with moral or ethical failings.

Todd Juvinall

The SCOTUS will be deciding voter rolls soon. I wrote a letter to them on my views. If the decision goes my way, we may solve this disparity on who governs us. But who knows, I thought they would toss Ocare too.

Bonnie McGuire

Thanks for mentioning the new sate of Northern California. It came up a couple of times before for the same reasons. My parents republic, and some others who contacted me after their demise. http://www.mcguiresplace.net/Republic%20of%20North%20California

As for Izzy, and most who succumb to the temptation of money and prominence by playing along with what's going on. Izzy was noted for her educational accomplishment on how to qualify for Government grant money. This is the deadly trap our state, county and city governments are caught in. Our government tells us not to deed wild animals because they forget how to survive and become dependent.

Regarding the environment Izzy and others pretend to preserve, I've always loved what our geologist friend had to say about our environment and gold mining on the Yuba River. http://www.mcguiresplace.net/Stories-Water%20is%20Gold

Sorry to change the subject, but it's an old pattern of internal conquest that works. When you look at the big picture look up the socialist revolution in Germany and Russia confiscating all resources, and freedom, for total control over people. Yeah...I hear you laughing that this could never happen in America. Well, now we're looking at imported terrorists, and a Sheriff in New York advising those who have permits to carry guns to not leave home without their gun. What a surprise!
