[happy to oblige the invite from the old sandbox]

Yet another line of inquiry is challenging IPCC orthodoxy... a solid European scientist is telegraphing a paper or papers that point to lower temps than the IPCC brand science has been claiming. To see the light of day in the vicinity of August.

http://blogs.reading.ac.uk/weather-and-climate-at-reading/2016/1053/

CO2 sensitivity as determined by the IPCC has been in the range of 1.5 to 4.5C+ since the scare started back in 1979... that's a long time to show no progress whatsoever in determining the single most important quantity for CO2 driven climate change, or the lack of it.

The hard left following that ol timey climate religion will have as hard a time adjusting to their raison d'etre evaporating as the creationists did with the Scopes trial. Payback is a bitch.

Administrivia - by popular demand the comment order has been reverted to the original - oldest on top. Mr Goodknight's hint is correct and useful in that the last comment can be brought up, along with the new comment box, by just clicking on the top comment to the desired post in the right-hand side list labeled 'RECENT COMMENTS'. Enjoy.

I live to serve.

Walt

Thanks Dr.R for the change back. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Jon Dozer

Walt, you're awfully quiet about Measure W. Quick trip to Idaho?

George Rebane

Jo Ann just got back from the Repub Central Committee meeting. It turns out that only 40% of registered Republicans bothered to vote. The Dems got the benefit of the Bernie bounce and stopping W, so their turnout was much higher. Maybe there's hope for the Repubs in November after all.

Bill Tozer

Sorry Jo Ann, the ballot didn't come this year. Timing is everything.

Now, lookie what we have here. Something Patricia Smith and I and Fish can agree on.
http://observer.com/2016/06/debbie-wasserman-schultzs-payday-loan-flip-flop-cant-save-her-job/

Don Bessee

Dr. R, When I saw the first returns I thought ok we have a whole lot more votes to count, but we didn't. I hope this serves as a wake up call for the NCRP leadership to stop letting people lay on laurels. The good news is they have the summer to make the necessary changes to get that most basic of functions, get out the vote, back on track. Changes that will empower and energize the volunteers.

I was at Supervisor Scofield's to watch the first return then went home to check the other SAM NOR CAL returns on various pot related ballot props. It was a great night with the obvious exception of Nevada County.

San Jose rejected more pot shops and the Counties continued with results like Yuba. A good trend for November.

I wanted to extend a personal thank you to all the hard working volunteers who did so much in so many ways. Especially the sign crews! ;-)

Bill Tozer

Now, is that I baby bump I saw in the above link??? Opps. I should treat hormonal pregnant women with more kindness. My apologizes, Debt Trap Debbie Whatzername-Shultz. Shultz? Isn't that German. Hmmm. You know what My Gal says about those Germans, wink, wink. Something to do with the ole Iron Cross and one armed salutes. Well, now is the perfect time to take some maternity leave to care for that bundle of joy. Always a silver lining, Debt Trap Debbie.

Jon Dozer

"Maybe there's hope for the Repubs in November after all". GR

Or maybe they're like a few of my friends around the country that are sickened by what Drumpf has done to the GOP, and will stay home until further notice. But if you prefer head-in-sand about the damage Drumpf has inflicted, please be my guest. :)

George Rebane

BillT 928pm - Do I understand that as a registered voter you didn't get a mail-in ballot even though 1) you are in a vote-by-mail precinct, and/or 2) you requested one without response? There have been other voters reporting irregularities with their names being omitted from the voter rolls or being partially changed. With Greg Diaz on the job, this bears looking into since this election went by the boards without a 'voter integrity' effort in place.

Jon Dozer

Don, believe me, signs or no signs weren't going to help you and your cause. :)

Congratulations on your late surge in the GOP Committee results.

Bill Tozer

Hard to argue with Dover's 9:42 pm after more Republicans in the history of R primaries voted for Trump than any other R candidate received ever. Set a few records, from turnout to votes garnered. What are your friends gonna do? Run to your candidate?, ROFLMFUEO. Give your imaginary pals some time. It's only June and June is bust in' out all over...oh yeah, did you thank your Turkish friend for me for trying to take care of that Armenian problem yet? Don't forget. I kinda like Fez hats. They be cool. Counting on you to deliver the message to that Turkish hero of yours.

As I recall, if my memory is still functioning, I predicted that W would fail and Hall would win District 1, due to inactive Republicans. It appears that only 40% of the Republicans bothered to vote. I cannot find the exact quote on RR, I hope it was not in private email with George.

Don Bessee

Dr. R, in the last few weeks we started to get multiple reports of R's who had voted last cycle who got Green Party ballots. Some were fixed but how wide that issue was is still unclear. It could be part of the new software glitches that plagued the poll workers. But since only 42% participated none of those kind of issues made any difference in any races.

The "jon', I got more votes in Dist. 2 than Ted Cruz got in the entire County. LOL ;-)

George Rebane

RussS 1008pm - I reported the 40% in my 745pm above.

Russ Steele

George@10:22PM. Yes, your were the source for the 40%, I should have noted that in my comment. It was your post that triggered my memory, that I had predicted the defeat of W based on the lack of Republican voter participation. Could not find the MABs post for the W initiative.

Bill Tozer

The Dr. George Rebane @ 9:44 pm last night.

It's complicated but I will try to be brief. It's not Diaz's fault. It is the US Post Office's fault. I recently applied for and received a PO Box. My street address and official parcel address of record is spelled one way by the County and State while the USPS spells it omitting one letter. So, the change of address form to send mail to my new PO Box rejects the proper County records and returns all mail unless my address is spelled the wrong way (the way the USPS spells it). One small vowel, one small typo on the USPS records. And no matter what one does, it might take an act of Congress to get the USPS to correct their typo.
That is why I said timing is everything. If I had done nothing I would have continued to receive my ballot as usual. But nooooooo. Even my CDL has the wrong address according to USPS. This even held up escrow for 5 months, but I assumed it was all taken care off after talks with the Post Master, County, Bank, etc. years ago. But, noooo.
The only solution is to contact everybody and have my billing address changed to the address that omitted one little vowel.
Oh, I am being held responsible for the sins of my gobberment fathers. Nothing to do with Diaz. Besides, I did not have to take a stand on anything, so I felt like Hillary for a day.

Bill Tozer

This is rich. The media today is raking Trump over the coals, crying doom and gloom about the Republican Party. Even Obama is worried about the Republican Party. Too sweet. They have not got one thing right so far this election cycle, but they keep trying. This tells me we got them by the short hairs. What did Buffet say? Buy when there is blood in the streets. Gotta love it.

Yep, Trump is toast.
http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/opinion/2016/06/07/opinion-big-data-reports-latino-support-for-trump-on-rise-at-37/

Now, what will the experts say besides put a fork in it? I would rather be in Trump's shoes than Hillary's cankle hiding pants.

Jon Dozer

It is gloom and doom for the GOP. Its a fact.

Bill Tozer

Oh Dozer, your facts just don't jive with the pulse of the nation. You got your Heidi Hall in Nevada City and your Jim Firsch moved into the area. What more do you need? Heck, you even got a film festival and more Ameticans are obese than ever before. You win!

Todd Juvinall

Tozer, how true. We had substantial victories all around America and Dozer has one. But he spins just like Hillary. My goodness the troll Dozer is too funny!

jon smith

Both of my parents and my three siblings are all life-long Republicans (none live in Nevada County). I am the only DTS in the family. Dad went to the polls but did note vote for prez. The others didn't bother going and have openly said they won't vote for Trump in November but will probably vote for other positions and propositions. If they are at all average Republican voters (and a 40% turnout would suggest that is likely) Clinton will be our next president.

Our new senate will almost assuredly swing to the left. I can only wonder if the current fools in the senate will consider Obama's moderate supreme court nominee, or out of spite and pride, wait for Clinton to choose someone far less agreeable with the right? My guess is that their personal short term agendas are more important to them than the long term impact on the nation.

Todd Juvinall

Since this was a promary season across the country no one can predict what will happen anyway. So I take the liberals as being really nervous about their chances in November. With Hillary wearing a orange suit and her hubby in jail with Epstein for banging under age women the whole thing will be different anyway.

Todd Juvinall

Jon Smith, I read your analysis on the FUE's blog and you are sure not too informed. Wow! But hey, I bet being drunk at all those parties eased your pain. LOL!

Bill Tozer

Yep, the Senate should be tough slogging for the Republicans since they took the Senate and sent Harry Reid into approaching retirement (with all his campaign money/funds raised to be spent on himself because he needs the dough to remodel his house. It's been approved by the FEC, but I digress).
The reason the Senate has been forecasted to be a tough slog since the last election cycle is simple. There are 24 R's up for reelection, 10 Dems. The Senate forecast has been a matter of record since 2014. 24 R vs 10 Dems should have some changes, all things being equal.
Now, is Trump palatable to R's? Time will tell. He did sweep the streets of 16 challengers, give or take. Now that Obama will team up with My Gal on a two prong attack on The Donald, it would appear to the indiscriminating eye that Trump is toast. Only if he keeps putting his foot in his mouth then shooting himself in the foot. Ah, it's all part of the learning curve. I like Trump's odds right now more than ever. Do not overlook the angry angry mood of our Nation. The throw the bums out mantra is stronger than any well crafted and focus group crafted utterance. Bern it down! Go Bernie, go.
Of course I expect Obama to continue to push that his economy is going great and if you disagree, you are grossly misinformed, lol. And Hillary has tied herself to Obama and his wonderful foreign policy decisions. So, Hillary owns the Iran nuke deal, the economy, and older men in young girl's bathrooms.
Toast? Hmmm. A lot of troubled waters ahead. Just ask DNC Debbie. Strike that. Debbie will say things are great. To quote an overflowing vat of grease drippings, "Things have never been better." Guess that includes the dwindling attendance at the Father's Day Bike Race and the robust sales taxes generated at the old Broad Street Furniture Building. Hey, someone is living in the top floor of the building so it's finally occupied. Great news if your view of the center of the universe is 40 acres called the Berkley of the Foothills. No cameras allowed when Mongul decides to eat in public. Gawkers have been forewarned.

George Boardman

While I hesitate to try to explain how Republicans think, I suspect the low GOP turnout in Nevada County can be attributed to Trump. Some people didn't vote because Trump has the nomination locked-up, so why bother. Some people didn't vote because they were horrified that Trump has the nomination locked-up.

Local residents seem to have an inordinate interest in elections outline the county, sometimes to the exclusion of local issues that actually impact their lives. I was still working for The Union during the 2004 general election and was drafted to write the story on how Nevada County voted in the presidential election. (I was the business writer and figured I could sneak out of the office early, but it was all hands on deck.)

It was obvious that Bush was going to beat Kerry, and it was unlikely that Nevada County would buck the national trend, so I wrote what I call a fill-in-the-blanks story. I did a little research on how the county voted in presidential elections, did some exit interviews at a couple of polling stations, and wrote a story declaring Bush the winner in Nevada County before the polls closed. (We inserted the actual vote totals later.)

This was the election when local conservatives were ousting the Gang of 4 behind NH2020, Nate Beason winning in District 1 and John Spencer beating Bruce Conklin in District 3. But my fill-in-the-blanks story got more online hits than any other election story The Union ran. Go figure.

jon smith

BT 8:29
"24 R vs 10 Dems should have some changes, all things being equal." You are stating the obvious. Don't you think that would occur to the current right leaning senate and they would get into gear to get a middle of the road court justice rather than wait for a more liberal nominee and a more liberal senate? They are betting on a presidential coin toss that isn't heavily in their favor. I think as a whole (dems included) they are a short sighted and self-serving group. They want to look tough standing up to O, but instead they look foolish and petty in their gamble.

TJ- I must admit I would have liked to have tipped back a few but I was the DD of the evening. At Duane's crowd at ol' Republic I was mighty tempted because I DO like their beer! Not so much the hard stuff at GE.

George Rebane

GeorgeB 835am - looking forward to your pithy analysis of this election Mr Boardman.

An email from our Designated Reader this morning illustrates how the Left manufactures its own world. At the FUE's echo chamber RR reader 'jon smith' claims in the aftermath of the election all of us here are sitting in a "deafening" and "stunned" silence save for my attempts to "baffle (RR readers) with bullshit". The comment streams here tell a different story with jon smith's own contributions withstanding, but the necessity to impose such a misrepresentation remains a puzzle.

I've lately given my position as Grammarian Laureate of Rebane's Ruminations the back seat but this one I cannot let by.

"Jive" is an dialect of North American English practiced largely by inner-city blacks.

To "jibe" is to be in agreement with.

That is all.

Todd Juvinall

Jon Smith has no clue but is in his "heaven" over the FUE's cesspool. I wonder how Smith thinks of his mentor now that he is attacking the Laurie O etal gang of Nevada City. Those libs eat their own. What a hoot!

Jon Dozer

Hey Willie Tozer and the Hand Jive,

Please review demographics and consistent polling.

I agree....you should try it sometime.

Todd Juvinall

Your demoncrats are in trouble Dozer. Too stoned to show up on election day. What a hoot!

Jon Dozer

LOL. Good one Todd! Still rolling today with creative juices flowing..

Jon Dozer

Drumpf is the new Joe McCarthy, and everything is just fine with the GOP! LOL

Gregory

Never having registered or self identified as GOP, I can't say I care all that much about their long term prospects, but the gloating over demographic trends by the left assumes Democrats own their current demographic strongholds and that Berners or similar won't fragment the loony left away from the mother ship.

"More free stuff" doesn't work in the long run.

Regarding District 1, it may be that REPs didn't care that much because it was current Democrat Heidi with no track record in elective office against longtime Democrat but current independent Duane with no track record... so what's to get excited about? Now she's in and will either satisfy constituents or get replaced eventually.

Personally, I'd suggest she follow her instincts and go hard on decarbonizing Nevada County... it's either the right thing to do or it ain't and I know many of her biggest supporters expect it to happen.

Gregory

"Reality; a really great thing."

So sayeth the sock puppet, oblivious to the irony.

Jon Dozer

wow, poor Heidi hasn't even had time to wind down from election night and the angry opposition has come out of the woodwork... Good god man chill out. All that know Heidi knows she will be fantastic as a Supervisor.

Gregory

La Raza (the Race) Lawyers... racist or not?

Take your time.

Jon Dozer

"it may be that REPs didn't care that much because it was current Democrat Heidi with no track record in elective office against longtime Democrat but current independent Duane with no track record.."

Yeah, that must have been it. How astute. Yeah those GOPers just ignored the video testimonials from prominent county conservatives/GOP/tea baggers, photos of prominent conservatives all over his webpages and advertising, giant signs on the properties of prominent county conservatives...you couldn't go 10 feet without seeing a Strawser sign. Yeah, they didn't trust Duane. Sure, that's the ticket. Genius.

jon smith

Yeah Dozer, what Todd said. "Democrats are in trouble" because a full 60% of the Republicans couldn't be bothered to get off their ass and vote! Talk about apathy!! I think maybe the grand Old party is getting too old. Too tired to kick off their slippers and get up from the Lazy Boy, their Rob Roy, and reruns of I Love Lucy. I think a lot of Republicans have hit that stage in life where they simply don't care much about what elections mean, because it really won't effect them for long. In the health care profession it is known as the Old Codger syndrome because so many elderly people don't follow medical advice because they think, "why bother?"

Gregory

"All that [sic] know Heidi knows [sic] she will be fantastic as a Supervisor."

One has to marvel at such a measure of devotion despite her lack of experience in such a role. The hard stuff comes next.

....angry opposition coming out of the woodwork?

Do you guys ever stop the psychological projection?

Jon Dozer

Greg, being a sore loser isn't becoming. Give it up man. The District voted for the person and her principles- fiscal conservative, social liberal, strong on the environment, strong military family, education and knowledge. One of the best resumes I've seen.

Jon Dozer

smith, EXACTLY! For such a strong party, the GOP is counting on the elderly to bring them into their new era! As I always say, Father Knows Best- perhaps should be Old Grandad Knows Best, then its time for his nap.

Do you see a whole lot of young people in the Drumpf camp? Niet.

I know who is working the puppet this morning......

:-)

Gregory

"Yeah, they didn't trust Duane. Sure, that's the ticket. Genius."

I can't help your lack of reading comprehension.

Jon Dozer

So sorry Greg, you just theorized the GOP stayed home because Strawser was a former Dem and current indy. ie, didn't trust him to be a good card carrying conservative, which he wasn't. So why did they stay home Greg? I think smith is correct. Old timers are tired and not interested anymore, especially when they see a guy who reminds them of Joe McCarthy leading their party off the cliff.

Gregory

The abysmal winners are out in force today.

"So sorry Greg, you just theorized the GOP stayed home because Strawser was a former Dem and current indy. ie, didn't trust him to be a good card carrying conservative, which he wasn't."

While I can imagine someone thinking the above, I didn't, and if I wanted to write that I could have.

Jon Dozer

..then you don't write very clearly. Oh well.

Onward!

Apparently Latinos are moving to Trump.

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/opinion/2016/06/07/opinion-big-data-reports-latino-support-for-trump-on-rise-at-37/

Also, Debra Saunders at the SF Cron has a piece interviewing a gay latino supporting Trump who was attacked at the San Jose rally. You just can't make this stuff up.

Next the blacks will be coming over since they want jobs not handouts. It will be really interesting.

Gregory

No one can write clearly enough to keep some sockpuppets on a mission from twisting the obvious into the unrecognizable.

Trump probably shouldn't spend too much time or money campaigning in Pennsylvania.

RussS 643am - It took some work, but I found our Measure W MABs in the 1jun16 sandbox comments. Yours, Jo Ann's, and mine were respectively [ 46%, 51%, 49.5%, 0.6], [48%, 55%, 51.5%, 0.6], [48%, 53%, 50.5%, 0.4]. Although none of us thought W would do as poorly as its current 42.2% (to be updated as all votes are counted) and none of our MABs bracketed the current 42.2%, your prediction with a low of 46% came closest to the election result.

Russ Steele

This could be why Trump admires Putin:

Vladimir Putin's speech - SHORTEST SPEECH EVER. Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

"In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim's then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.

"Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'.
We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.

"When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, itshould have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians.”

When will we have an American President stand and declare America First?

Gregory

Let's revisit for a moment one statement of Heidi Hall's environmental stance:

“The greatest threat to our national security, public health and long-term economic growth is climate change"

That's the horse she's hitched to the wagon, we'll see where it pulls the county to in the coming years.

Russ Steele

Oops, Snopes says that Putin did not give the speech quoted above. Although, I wish he had!

Russ Steele

Greagory@02:32PM

I am looking forward to watching Hall's climate change wagon get mired in the ponds of bad science, pulled by horses winded with political congestion. It is going to ba long four years for Hall with a lull in the sun spots, a cold PDO, and a cold AMO. Historically these conditions have produced a cooler dryer planet. It will be difficult to blame the ensuing drought on a warmer planet. Yes, let the cosmic ray dance begin.

Jon Dozer

Greg, so now there are at least 3 Sups who understand Climate Change. Progress!

There were no partisan contests to motivate GOP voters, so to extrapolate that to old Republicans don't care is particularly silly. Remember, even Pelline used to demand partisan politics didn't apply to the Board of Supes... it's non partisan, remember?

Bill Tozer

My, with all this political stuff going on, I am puzzled why so many people are upset..nay...outraged over Hillary wearing a $12,000 jacket while giving a speech on income equality last May.. Boy, that minor story still has legs and the Bernie Bros just won't let it die. Like, they are just finding out about My Gal's lust for the finer things or something. It's just not the Bernie Bros, though. Conservative sites and FB postings are keeping this story alive. I thought having the 1st female presumptive nominee of a major political party would have people fainting and crying and euphoric like O had them going in 2008. But no. No earth shaking stories going ape shit over this historic achievement. Since I don't watch TV, I kept waiting for the inflection in the news readers' voices to bust out into some semblance of enthusiasm. But no, just a monotone yarner announcing Hillary is a woman at will be the 1st blah, blah, no doze time. Whatz up with that. Something is missing. Maybe a thing call authenticity.
So, this expensive article of clothing Hillary chose to wear to her income inequality speech has grown legs and her nomination hadn't. Boy, something is amiss on the Dem Establishment side this year. Maybe it is the candidate, but I could be wrong.

Well spoken Gregory

The Republican apathy towords Measure W is evidence enough that there is little opposition to well regulated growing in Nevada County.

Bill Tozer

All the information I needed to know to decide who to vote for was clarified and crystallized by the streets of Anaheim, Phoneix, San Jose, and Chicago. Now all of Ametica knows who the Brown Shirts really are. It's was disgusting watching clips of peaceful people running for their lives by the Democrat horde busting out into mob mentality. Even the cops had to stand down "in fear of their own safety." Fucking mob mentality Democrats trying to shut down free speech, then physically attacking and blooding anyone deemed sympathetic to the Republician presumptive nominee.
That is all I need to know, see, and hear. If those angry violent smashers of people, places, things, and property (both private and public) think I will ever side with them, they are nuts. Tell me, who in the heck could ever ever vote for the party who has such despicable members as its base and forments ON PURPOSE such ghastly 3rd World behavior?? Goons, hooligans, criminals, and anarchists are the lot of them and they are all Democrats, socialists, and authoritarian ass wipes. Yes, the best thing about that bunch indeed ran down their Momma's leg.
Of course, being Democrats they left mountains of trash and mayhem in their wake, but left as good friends. Always a silver lining.
The Brown Shirts are the enemy of civilized society. And now they cry for safe places! Unbelievable. Oh, fact is stranger than fiction.

My name is Bill Tozer and I approve this message. Opinions expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views shared by the webmaster or those with lying tongues.

Gregory

Paul, it's simpler than that... the No on W campaign did a masterful job making it about a cute kid who needed his medicine. A W with hardship exemptions of the outside grow ban for just those sorts of cases might have had better luck.

I expected the outdoor grow ban was to make spotting illegal grows from the air that much easier... too bad, as permitting specific plot boundaries by WAAS GPS coordinates would make it quite easy to mark for air crews or mapping drones and avoid shoveling money for PG&E current to make up for what falls on the ground for free. Madness.

Jon Dozer

Good rant Bill, its been a while. Thought you weren't going to live up to your nickname.

Unfortunately its a relatively few violent protesters with their own personal agenda, yes maybe even a few radical Mexican nationalists. There are no Dem or progressive leaders encouraging the bad behavior by their own rhetoric. Nothing but comdemnation from every Democratic official I've seen. Good luck with the attempt to pin it on a political party or campaign. No one but Drumpf lemmings are buying it. Drumpf is partially responsible for that violence via his hateful rhetoric.

Gregory

Who won the Presidential election after the Democratic Party's 1968 Convention?

Break out the popcorn.

Arther Williams

The defeat of W also shows that Royal`s, and his foolish follower`s lies, were not believed by the majority of the voters. Claims of intimidation and fear, allegedly perceived by the "Silent Majority", that Royal, Beason, Scofield, Miller, Weston and #7 out of 8
touted incessantly, never scared enough citizens to go against their first impression... and vote for this arrogant, uncompassionate attempt by county council to strip themselves of their own rights. Prohibition has never worked in the U.S. Royal and his followers are destined to soon be regulated to the dust bin of history. Good riddance.

Jon Dozer

Oh yes, the events of 1968 are so similar to today. Actually I think the parties and cities understand a bit more about using technology to manage security 50 years later. But thanks for that fun theory. I'd be more worried about the Pubbers convention, inside the hall.

Jon Dozer

What a guy that Drumpf. Deadbeat much? I'm sure we will see much more of this..

Paul E @ 3:05

The Republican apathy towords Measure W is evidence enough that there is little opposition to well regulated growing in Nevada County.

Little opposition to well regulated growing? Does that mean before the new ordinance there was not enough regulation? Or are you saying we need more regulations?
Gregory is correct as usual. 6-12 outdoor plants will stick out like a sore thumb...emerald green is not hard to spot as the summer dries out the vegataion. Like shooting fish in a barrel. Just seeing one plant in the open is a justifiable reason to have the illegal grow ripped out and the owner cited and fined...big time. A true money maker for our County. That is fairly regulated situation, IMHO.
Gregory was right about the poster boy for growing outdoors....a true patient with a true need. How odd among the growers I must say. I don't think Paul gives a hoot about legal or illegal, sick boys, or even legal recreational pot. He just wants the economic benefits to the County...er...the growers and is concerned about the liviihood of of his acquaintances. Just keep growing and growing, pun intended. Paul believes in trickle down economics. Learn something new everyday.

Yep, the boy's father could have worked out a deal with the authorities or Sheriff....have a sit down face to face and do the blind eye thing off the record to help the boy. Lots of blind eye things go on if you aren't a jerk and are respectful. The boy's father could possibly be allowed to practice don't ask, don't tell after sipping a cup of Folgers with LE.

Yep, I remember those pictures of the little Syrian boy washed up on the Greek shore. Now, the social services of many Western European progressive democracies are stretched beyond their limits. Money set aside for citizens who fall on hard times now goes to immigrants.....but the cause was that little boy washing up on the rocks.
I remember those disturbing shocking pictures of starving abused children. We have to do something! This is not right. Perfect poster kids that led directly to Blackhawk Down. Those kids are no better off today than when we went to help...well, maybe better off now that they are armed to the teeth and get paid as junior soldiers. Poster boyz.

Bill Tozer

Well, Mr. Dozer, we don't see any Trump supporters blocking freeways, setting fires, smashing cop cars, pushing women down onto the unforgiving cruel concrete, now do we?

Yep, it's Trump's fault for having a crazy notion of "immigration, yes! illegal immigration, no!" Having a good orderly process and having control of our borders by land, sea, or plane is downright hateful. Figured you were one of those John Kerry Borderless Nations types. National Sovereignty is bad, One World gummit is good. Yeah, righttttt.

Just like we don't see any Syrian or Iraqi Christians running around Europe raping 7-9 year old girls and grouping women on sight, now do we? You idea of hate speech is using the word "no". Trump is a mean ole Daddy. Now eat your vegetables before dessert or else you will have more Chins that a Chinese phonebook...or a resturant taster/reviewer.

To show you how out of touch Nevada County democratic socialists are, Bernie carried Nevada County. Hillard stomped him 2/1 statewide. Yep, you guys are ahead of the curve. Don't blame Democrats for violence, blame Trump because the Devil made them do it? Sounds about right coming from someone's boy toy. Keep it coming Dozer. It's Trump's fault we did what we (and nobody else) did. We are not responsible and even if we were, we shall not be held accountable, right little buddy? We shall not be held accountable in our own eyes! It wasn't us, it was them other dudes.

Gregory

So far, all of the violence has been perpetrated or provoked by Democratic rabble, I see no reason to imagine credentialed GOP attendees will be fighting inside their convention hall.

Nice try, "Jon".

Jon Dozer

We will say, shalln't we now, "Gregory".

..scoreboard..

Gregory

Unlike you, "Jon", this Gregory has been verified eye to eye by a host of RR regulars and irregulars. Just in the last day or two I chatted with Paul Emery and the Crabbman hisself.

"Jon Dozer" is afraid to be known. Sad.

Something reminds me, there hasn't been a good picture of Jeff Pelline recently... no sightings?

Todd Juvinall

I too have met and talked with Gregory. Jon Dozer is a coward like most of his ilk are. But the host here allows Dozer to spew so others can see from moment to moment the vacuous brain of a liberal.

Gregory

I fully expect Dozer is known to all by their real name and can't come out of the closet without a real loss of face.

Todd Juvinall

Yes you are probably right. He is a chicken sh** anyway and he really is not very bright.

Apparently off to the Emerald Isle.....been casually following his travelogue....prostrating himself before the Irish over the presidential race....something about bread making (his mitts in the Dill dough I think)...a flaccid attempt at falconry.

The usual.

Don Bessee

So what do we make of the elections office saying they still have 17,000 ballots to count? Large numbers of last minute vote by mail and a lot more provisional ballots than normal that were generated by the software glitches. Interesting.

Don Bessee

Awwww, That sounds much more like the efforts of Bea Yotch and Co. You did hear SAM won across NOR CAL, didn't you? Nevada County to bea (yotch) seen. ;-)

Patricia Smith

Bill T, June 9, 4:06 I am surprised at you for making assumptions about Forrest Hurd's attempts to work out an exemption for his son. He tried everything. He met individually with every supervisor that would talk with him. He begged them for an exemption, but they all declined. Richard Anderson was the lone exeception.

Bill Tozer

Patricia, I was referring to Mr. Hurd having a chat with LE. Now, I don't know if Mr. Hurd lives in GV terroritory or Sheriff terroritory. Actually, Sheriffs like CHP patrol anywhere they please. But, with all my dealings with LE through the years, it's always one to one speaking with the officer ( potentially arresting officer or citing officer) and it usually comes out with a mutual understanding. Like, are the Bears in the sky going to swoop down and land on his chicken coop for 3-4 plants? 8 plants? If they did he can explain his story and maybe promise to try to find another arrangement for the plants. Most likely they will tell him to keep a low profile and....opppps, gotta go, have another call. That is what I am yapping about. Forget the BOS. They can't give one person a pass and not another person. That be politics. Forget them, their hands are tied. I am taking about one to one, eye to eye, face to face with the boots on the ground. How many cops have told someone to put the joint out and proceed like it's too much a waste of time to deal with small peanuts when they "suspect" is sincere and honest. The first thing LE has to find out is if you are a good guy or a bad guy.
Ok, advice is cheap and I could be way off base. If, hypothetically, Mr. Hurd was tempted to go to any lengths to help his son (as I would for any child of mine), he could talk to some neighbors and explain that he is planning to grow some tomatoes against the side of the house. Any human being would be apt to be sympathic to his plight.
If it were I in the same circumstance, this is how it would go. I would talk to my closest neighbors, tell them what and why (as if they did not know) and just ask them to tell me if there is any problem and if so, please contact me first before calling LE. I would also make certain I had no firearms on the premises. LE loves it when you talk calmly to them and explain there are no firearms or threats against their safely here.
Heck, I don't see why he just doesn't grow and keep hum about it. Sure, it's breaking the law, but with a good explanation of unusual circumstance before a judge, I have had the judge utter to the bailiff more than once "case dismissed" concerning moi, or "Bailiff, get this man out of here." Be honest, sincere, respectful, and brief. They ain't the enemy here.
Actually, Patricia, I feel uncomfortable yapping about somebody local whom I don't know, albeit his name has been in the paper and on local radio several times.

I do wonder if you realize that you are about the only marihuana hoochie hoochie advocate that follows the law in letter and spirit. That letter and spirit of existing State law is solely for the advocacy of a patient who will be helped by grass because it can be cheaper than RX drugs, less side effects than RX, or works just as well if not better than RX drugs. You stand alone among many. Yes, I am sure there are more Patrica Smith's out there, but you guys are the exception, not the rule.
I also wonder if you see the irony of those who want to grow and argue about County economic benefits, individual rights, property rights, what someone puts into their bodies rights.....all the arguments have nothing to do with the patient!! They are using you and bastardizing the spirit of the law for their own personal gain. Many of your allies could care less about you or the Hurd child as long as they can grow legally for money, money, money. A good supplemental source of income because food stamps and "disability" just don't let one paint the town often enough. You are being used, but politics makes strange bedfellows. If this Hurd thing continues without any alternative solutions available, I will grow a plant and give it to him! I don't grow or smoke the stuff, but last year I grew 4 plants with a BS script just to see if could. Call it curiosity. Too strong for me. I was flopping on the ground like fish out of water. I threw two plants in the burn pile, let one rot on the ground, and smoked some. It all came back why I stopped smoking dope 25 years ago. Not for me, that stuff is too potent. But, that is how I feel. I will plant one plant for Mr. Hurd for his son. Not for him, but his son if necessary. Let me know. Worse that can happen is they come out, pull the plant, and soil my impeccable reputation (like I give a darn) and shake me down for some money. Just like a scorned woman, lol.
My name is Bill Tozer and I wrote every word of this.

Hey Gregory The Genius, I thought you said not to worry about doings inside the building at the GOP Convention? The Royal Rumble is still very likely.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/10/politics/gop-delegate-revolt-stop-donald-trump/index.html

Patricia Smith

Hey Bill, thanks for the clarification. Forrest actually reached out to Sheriff Royal on many occassions, but he didn't respond. Sheriff Roysl went to every organization he could to denounce the Hurds struggle to get medicine for Silas. He said they were frauds and the Republican party leadership said some truly horrible things about this family. I think that is one reason Measure W was defeated because so many people thought the attacks on this family were heartless. We invited Sheriff Royal, the BoS, and the NCRP leadership to attend an event that explained why traditional medicine didn't
work for children with intractable epilepsy and to watch a video of Silas' downhill battle using conventional methods and his rapid improvement once we found the right strain that stopped his seizures. (A common misperception is that all cannabis is the same, it is not.) Not one of them showed up. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Some people prefer to remain uninformed if the truth doesn't jive with their beliefs. This is true on all sides by the way.

Todd Juvinall

The rumble will be the riots at the democrat convention. Afterall, only the democrats have the thugs.

Gregory

Dozer the Dolt, there's nothing at that link suggesting violence amongst GOP attendees.

Berners have been drawing blood.

Patricia Smith

June 9, 9:55pm I just saw the post from Arthur Williams about Don Bessee. I suggest you pull the comment Dr. Rebane and block the poster. This comment was vile and uncalled for.

I stand corrected.

Gregory

Regarding Chicago '68 and today, the Occupy Wall Street/Berners are a whole lot like the disaffected hard leftists of '68, and the orchestrated announcement of Hillary's coronation as the presumptive nominee the day before the last state primaries didn't smooth things over... dirty tricks to the end.

Payback is a bitch.

Now we have local leftists (including a friend of mine who thought Bush II hated Saddam Hussein because Saddam was for women's rights and universal healthcare) is taking Scott Adams' writings literally (rather than veiled parody denigrations of the left) that because Trump is a Nazi and Nazi's should have been taken care of before WWII, it's time to rise up against Trump's Brownshirts.

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear...

George Rebane

Re Arther(sic) Williams' comments. Don't know who that worthy is, and wasn't even sure who he was talking about in his 955pm. But he sure isn't contributing to the conversation here and just delivering ad hominems. For that I unpublished his 732pm (accusing DonB of voting fraud) and 955pm but have not blocked him in the off chance that he has something relevant to say.

"Scientific" Paper Finds Liberals "Uncooperative, Hostile, Troublesome, Socially Withdrawn, Manipulative"

I'm sure we will hear a litany of complaints about this study....as opposed to the progressive happy dance when the results were directed at conservatives.

Bill Tozer

Fish: They will do their happy dance only upon our graves. You can tell they were there by the smashed crosses and trash left behind. They don't even recycle their plastic water bottles or even their coconut water or Guayaki Enlighten Mint aluminum cans. They be justified and thus absolved from their actions.

Hey, it's just a few murderers and some Mexican Nationals that are shooting up the streets of Chicago and driving up the record murder rates in every Dem controlled city from sea to shining sea.. Good luck pinning that one on "progressives". Heck, the Dems brought us the KKK and then try to pin it on us conservatives. Turning the page, they nowbring us Black Lives Matter. Go luck pinning that one on "progressives".
Yep, they will get their happy dance if they could only not be so impatient.

Boy, the peaceful protestors sure could use some patience as well as manners. They need a good dose of the attitude of graditute.

The people committing the lifestyle mayhem and murder in the streets of American cities aren't registered voting Americans.

Greg The Genius,
Where have actual, real Berners been drawing blood? I saw a bunch of angry young gang punks waving flags and looking for fights.
