[OK, the last one filled super-fast. Time to talk about the truck attack in Nice, and what that portends for future easy-to-execute lone wolf terror on our shores. And why is the lamestream again trying to represent this Muslim as a confused man with family troubles, instead of someone who was organized enough to assemble quite a collection of guns and grenades with which he intended more misery than he delivered? And then there's Trump's announcement of Pence as his Number Two. And now the coup in Turkey. We must recall the words of Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, "Islam is Islam; there are no modifiers. Democracy is the train we ride to our ultimate objective." gjr]
The Turkish military has had enough of the ISIS coddling PM Erdogan and have mounted a coup. Historically the military has been the protector of the secular constitution in Turkey. If they pull this off you could expect a tougher line on ISIS and muslum brotherhood.
Getting a strong southern NATO partner against jhihadis again could be a big help. Then you have the whole issue of them no longer letting masses cross to continental Europe without vetting.
Anyone want to make odds on the coups success?

So if a common, regular vanilla Muslim apparentl;y unaffiliated with a terrorist group can and wants to this horror. To me that says any Muslim can do this. That is truly scary.
Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 15 July 2016 at 03:29 PM
Don, no bets on that one...just yet.
The Turks see the Kurds as the biggest threat to their homeland tranquility. Erdogan was been decrying ISIS with one side of his mouth and allowing ISIS safe passage with the other.
Middle East politics are complex. The good guys fight the bad guys one day, and the next day the bad guys are the good guys, and then the following day the good guys join forces with the bad guys. They change alliances and sides like a watchful mother changes an infant's diapers.
No wonder they call them Islamics "a den of thieves". Ali Babba and his forty thieves is an apt description.
Read somewhere that the Turkish army is the 4th largest standing army on Earth. That is a heck of an eye opener, even if that figure is wrong and they only the 6th. Big big army, situated between the ragheads and Europestan.
Egypt has a big standing army, enough to crush all the folded little sheet heads Palestinians in a few hours if they wanted to. But, if the recent events of the military controlled Egypt kicking out The Brotherhood (and executing all members of the terrorist organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood) is any indication, then, Mr. Don, the Turks may have a coup on their hands.
Just two things I have to know before placing bets:
1) Is the Turkish military widely respected and trusted as in is Egypt (a minor consideration), and
2) Who will Obama side with? E or the military? That is the major consideration, the biggie if you prefer. Whichever side Obama throws his weight behind, that will be the losing side in this bet. Obama has a stellar record of cuddling up to the losing side. His batting average for picking the wrong side is a thousand. My money is the on the one who Obama does not support.
Easy money, like shooting fish in a barrel.

Turks do have one of the numerically biggest Armed forces in the world. This guy has been a pain to us for years, denied transit to our troops in the past and only recently let us base attack aircraft to use against ISIS. The former (?) head has been inching toward muslim dictatorship. Purges of judges and military officers have not played well.
The final straw was perhaps the recent announcement that he was giving citizenship to the 3 million Syrians refugees in Turkey, that would give them votes in Turkey (sound like someone we know?)
Historically the military has been the secular foundation of the non-muslim government since Ataturk.

Holy smokes Don, I just checked the news! It's going down and Obama got caught with his mom jeans around his ankles again. I thought you were more or less poiising a possible situation after reading the tea leaves. The situation is hot and fluid
NATO is the big prize for E. Turkey and the Russians have not been playing nice with each other. Iran is right there, with Russia being Iran's trading partner. Europe needs Turkey to stop the flood of the little folded sheet heads, and....blah, blah, blah. That is just foreign policy. What's doing down right this second is all domestic stuff. Will the bottom line result in an hard line Tyrannical Islam State or just a typical Arab Kingdom with quasi friendly ties to West????
How will this end? Will Rita get her boyfriend back? Oh, the drama.
Did read this a couple of days ago, but it didn't mean much to me besides a possible overture to Assad. In hindsight, were new domestic coalitions and alliances being formed? A coincidence, at message to neighboring countries to chill?

Guess we just got to wait until the killing is done to yap about "nation building". Good time to sneak a "populist revolt" in the mix, but I doubt they have any true power or care about the anything but their crack at the throne. Attacks, counter attacks....military vs police, all hell done broke out.
Last man standing? Hmm, I got a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong.
How unified is the military, or is the military having mutiny in their ranks...need to know how big of a fissure is growing in the military, if any.
Shoot Howdy, Don. Yesterday France, today Turkry. This makes me hungry for a big ole Po Boy Sandwich.....a honking big Po Boy.
Well, usually this is when the dog days of summer begin. But, then again, this is 2016, the year of "The Convergance."
Posted by: Bill Tozer | 15 July 2016 at 05:05 PM
BT- The interesting wrinkle in Turkey is that the military is constitutionally charged with the protection of the constitution. The Turkish prez has been jailing tons of media and shutting news outlets recently so that has 0 siding with suppression of a free press. The coup statement talked about the restoration of secular democracy. High stakes, if they screw up the coup look for a full blown islamist govt. in Turkey.

Here's an interesting bit of reaction to a comment I left under 'France Reveals Details on Attacker in Nice' in today's online WSJ (something I do very rarely). My comment read -
Perhaps I'm not the first to notice that the WSJ has finally started genuflecting to Team Obama's rules by not mentioning the most salient fact about the terrorist, i.e. that he was also a Muslim. Apparently connecting the labels 'Islam' or 'Muslim' to the overwhelmingly predominant fraction of terror attacks is now considered a gratuitous correlation and most certainly politically very incorrect. Are we yet sufficiently contrite as a nation?
I wasn't aware that other WSJ readers could 'like' my comment. Email notices of all the subsequent reader likes are pouring in. In a 1,000+ comment stream when I added mine, it is remarkable that my observation of WSJ's moral turpitude was indeed something new. Jo Ann said 'Don't get a big head' ;-)

FBI update #2: Scores of agents in Orlando still turning over every rock searching for that elusive motive.
FBI update #3: Dallas Police reported its conversation with the lucid shooter behind the pillar. Shooter said he wanted to kill cops, white cops, black cops, big cops, little cops, transit cops, lady cops, male cops, skinny cops, big cops, and cops. This was before that cute little robot was sent to de-escalate the situation.
FBI has not uncovered the motive as of this date.

http://heatst.com/uk/exclusive-france-suppressed-news-of-gruesome-torture-at-bataclan-massacre/
Shades of the video that caused the unfortunate chain of events to Grass Valley's own Chris Stevens in Benghazi ? Orlando narrative: Omar the American was a homophobe. Hate crime, all references to the Glorious and Merciful Allah scrubbed, witnesses did not really hear what Omar was shouting at people, saying, and spouting on his cell phone.
Just a hate crime targeting the gay community, right?
No torture happened at Bataclan, right. No knifes found, so no mutilation, right?
Maybe it was trick photography that done gouged people's eye out and did some female mutilation, right?
An Internet video caused Ambassor Steven's death, a married man struggling to comes to terms with coming out of the closet caused Orlando (well, guns caused Orlando) and a bomb blast did weird to bodies in France.

Tanks, tanks a rocket.
About the horse race that Hillary will easily win, barring her bonking her head again:
Just a daily tracking poll from LA Times yesterday, which is nothing more than a snapshot of just one day...July 13th I believe. Nothing more, nothing less, just a date in time
Blacks: 3% Trump, 77% Your Gal, 20% say a pox on both your houses. Hey, better than O%. Always a silver lining.
Latinos: 30% Trump. That seems high, figured he would come in to the Convention @ 27% Latino, which is where he should be riding for awhile.
Now, the ole poke in your eye, Mr. Dozer:
Hillary takes the female voters, good majority. Trump takes the male voters, good majority. Here comes the but...but, but, but, Trump's % of male voters is larger than Hillary's percentage of margin of female voters.
Just let your mind extrapolate that . You got male and female voters. Just call it 50/50 or 48/52 of anyway you wish to break of the voters by gender. More dudes will vote for Trump than dolls with vote for Hillary.
Enjoy the free Yoga classes. Helpful hint: when the Native American take the stage, don't bother to put on your dancing shoes. It's not the like of muzak that is hand clapping, knee slapping, foot stomping Ho Down stuff. I know, I have tried to bring them up with the times, but noooo. Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide
This is not going to please our local lefty warmers.
Increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels during the 20th and early 21st centuries “have produced no deleterious effects upon Earth’s weather and climate,” says Willie Soon, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.“Increased carbon dioxide has, however, markedly increased plant growth. Predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future in creases in hydrocarbon use and minor greenhouse gases like CO2 do not conform to current experimental knowledge.

BillT 1050am - Thank you Mr Tozer, but for the casual reader Alinsky's simplified version of Lenin's levels of control need to be spelled out in this comment stream. After all, they are the main tenets in the progressives' playbook.
1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people.
2) Poverty – Increase the poverty level as high as possible; poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun control – Remove people’s ability to defend themselves from the government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of people’s lives (food, housing and income).
6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to; take control of what children learn in school.
7) Religion – Remove the belief in God from the government and schools.
8) Class warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take from (tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Ok, this guy make a good point. Fair points, fair dialogue, throwing out the broad brush and tossing out has "nothing to do with Islam"...and looking at it down the middle.
You could substitute the word Islam with LE or political diagolue. All I ever seek is honesty. I always give more weight to those who have been Been through the school of hard knocks.
. As an example, once Enrolled in a free county smoking cessation class (tobacco). The pretty cheerful instructor of the class walked in and did the little preamble bio of herself and why she was eager to teach the class.
Then someone asked her if she was a reformed smoker and how she was able to quit.. She answered she has never even lit a cig or smoked once in her entire young life. There was an audible groan from the class and much eye rolling. 3 folks stood up and walked out. I waited to the end of the hour to walk out and never came back.
I want honest dialogue, preferably from someone who has been there, done that.

Here is one assessment of how far we are down the Alinsky rabbit hole we are under President Obama's guidance.
1. Healthcare: "Control Healthcare and you control the People"
DONE!
2. Poverty: Increase the Poverty level as high as possible." Poor People are easier to control and will not fight back if the government is providing everything for them to live.
DONE!
3. Debt: Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level." That way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
DONE!
4. Gun Control: Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a Police State - total local control.
ALMOST THERE, AND WORKING HARD ON IT!
5. Welfare: Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).
DONE!
6. Education: Take control of what People read & listen to; take control of what Children learn in School.
ALMOST THERE!
7. Religion: Remove faith in God from the Government and Schools.
ALMOST THERE!
8. Class Warfare: Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor. Racially divide. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.
DONE!
For the most part the bases are all covered! We are ripe! Readers can argue with this assessment, and if they do please provide the details of your views of what this is wrong or right.

When the FACTS count!
When Arrests Go Bad a WUWT Guest Essay by Willis Eschenbach
I got to thinking about the issues of race regarding the recent tragic police shootings, both the shootings of police and the shootings by police. The best data is from the Washington Post, which has a detailed site listing all of the people killed by police, which begins in 2015 and goes to the present. I thought I’d analyze their data. I looked at the data for the year 2015 because the full 2016 data is not in yet, and also in order to be able to compare it to other annual datasets.
Here are the results of that comparison for 2015.
Surprised? You will not hear these facts in the Lame Stream Media.

The ambulance chasers almost ran over a couple girls playing hop scotch on the sidewalk to get back to their typewriters to say "No, he ain't one of Louie Louie's boys, he is a weight lifter on steroids. Aha, It's the steroids fault!! But, wait..then they say.......
Dozer, this is where you can help out. Put your feelers out and help the FBI find the elusive motive. Your country needs you. Answer the call, Patriot.
Thanks.

Uh Oh, Steve Frisch the feckless leader of the SBC is now joining with Pelline to protect the liberals who hate the cops. Careful, he is out searching and listening for the "dog whistles" of racism and bigotry. Even as he has no people of "color" in his employ. You cannot make this stuff up.

Great to see the GOP finally coming together today in their show of unity :)
OMG, its going to fun to hear and watch the booing in prime time this week!
And thank god they dumped that C-list celeb Tim Tebow for someone much more famous and respected. So its great to see Scott Baio, that famous 55 year old heartthrob from 4 decades past. This guy predates Reagan! LOL. Awesome stuff.

"Asked about the president’s response to the killing of three police officers in Baton Rouge, La., Trump said: “I mean, you know, I watched the president and sometimes the words are O.K.,” Trump said. “But you just look at the body language. There’s something going on."
You Drumpf Boys proud of the racist code words of your racist candidate?

Jon Dozer | 18 July 2016 at 02:11 PM
Oh jon, you are a simple run of the mill leftwing racist. Trump is no racist. But you and your ilk have to make it up. You and Frisch, dog whistles everywhere. But bottom line is Trump is right. When someone says things they truly don't believe then we can see that body language and ;ack of eye contact. All easy to see in you libs since you all lie so much.
The convention is fun. I am glad to see some back and forth. The democrats are good commissars though. Bernie sold out all the millions who voted for him and you are so glad he he is back on the reservation.

Dozer, watch it for me. Somebody has to. I am listening to what Your Gal was just telling the NAACP lthis lovely morning less than 24 hrs after 3 more heros were gunned down in Baton Rouge. Same as what Obama just said today. Hmm.
Same spiel,....the bodies haven't even been laid to rest and they start with the obligatory opening state about there is no justification for killing cops, Let me made that clear, blah, blah, blah.. With that pleasantly said and swept aside, they both got down to business. The nation's police force must show restraint! Blame the cops, lol. Well, at least Obama, Hillary, and the taco stuffer are all on the same page. Reform the police, do not blame the po colored folk ambushing members on The Thin Blue Line.
About time it's all out in the open.....hey, let's federalize the local police....it's the answer!!! It's all the dead cops fault. Better keep an eye on those corpuses sneaking out of the grave and running about shooting po colored people just for kicks.
Yo Dozer we are a little short handed here on the other side due to the recent events and loss of manpower. Be a dear and watch them grave sites for us, will ya. Report anything suspectious. Thank you.
What a bunch of monkeys trying to hump the football.
Posted by: Bill Tozer | 18 July 2016 at 02:35 PM
Yo Dozer. Get with the times, man. Racist is so worm out. The new term is "oven stuffer." That is the word you are searching for. You got the all the buzz words from Nazi to homophobic, from bigot to Islamophoc all rolled up into a simple two word all encompassing phrase.
We prefer to be called "over stuffers."
Thank you.
Oh, how many more cops have to die before Obama's bloodlust is satisfied? Hint: not a trick question. Neither one of us knows for sure, but for an over stuffer like Obama, the answer might be found in the definition of the word. "insatiable".

And now a word from The White House:

No problem. We can fix that.

That was easy. Next in the list is....nay, I almost let the cat out of the bag.
Mr. Dozer. I know something you don't know. Glad to see you are being polite this gorgeous day. Keep it up. Who knows, it might even become a habit. Stranger things have happened. :). You earned a smiley face for good behavior. Good job, Let the healing break forth in song! :). :). :)

Oh, Walt will be home soon. Hang it there.
Yo Walt, I got the frying pan all heated up for ya. Time to throw the meat in. :)

"Oh, and one more thing “America” is not a country you functional idiot, it is a continent; the United States of America is a country." Frisch to Juvenall
Ignoring the puctuation error(s), we have counterexamples:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/America
Check out definition 3, Stevie.
Then there's song:
From Sondheim & Bernstein's America:
chorus
"I like the shores of America!
Comfort is yours in America!
Knobs on the doors in America,
Wall-to-wall floors in America!"
What about America the Beautiful as edited by Ray Charles
"Oh beautiful, for heroes proved,
In liberating strife,
Who more than self, our country loved,
And mercy more than life,
America, America, may God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain devined.
And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain,
But now wait a minute, I'm talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, in a brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea."
I met a number of functional idiots when attending a CalState, many just like Frisch.
America is more than just a continent, Steve.

Prediction: By the time we hit a $15 minimum wage, there will be no cashiers
Now that the Democrats have officially enshrined the Fight for 15 in their platform this year, Hillary Clinton will have a hard time dancing away from it during the general election debates. You’ll recall that she previously had taken a slightly more reasonable approach, calling for that level of pay in high cost of living areas, but not pushing for it in rural locations where it would be immediately crippling to business and employment. Bernie Sanders eventually won that fight and dragged Clinton all the way to the left, so the subject is now one of the planks on which Hillary will stand in Philadelphia.
With that in mind, conservatives should be prepared to keep the public informed about the long term consequences of this populist position. One of the most likely outcomes which isn’t frequently mentioned in the usual DNC literature is described by Panos Mourdoukoutas at Forbes this week. While remaining in the realm of prognostication for now, the message is plain and simple: by the time these proposed laws go fully into effect, the job of being a cashier in the United States (along with several other occupations) will cease to exist.
Detail HERE: http://hotair.com/archives/2016/07/19/prediction-by-the-time-we-hit-a-15-minimum-wage-there-will-be-no-cashiers/
Consider this: More reaction to $15.00 minimum wage?

Is Gov Brown trying to take Obama "Best Gus Salesman Ever" title?
BearingArms: Just two weeks short weeks after Governor Jerry Brown showed his hand by signing a number of gun control measures into law, Californians are putting their money down on a sure bet: AR-15 rifles.
“The California compliant rifles right now are non-existent. There is nothing out there,” said Ray Parga, owner of Del Valle Gunsmithing in Marina, CA.
Parga told local reporters that sales of AR-15 style firearms are through the roof. Not only are the guns he had in stock completely sold out, but replenishment orders were sold before they’ll ever touch store shelves.

Speaking of disallowed opinions, Ferguson's Michael Brown, under the influence and in the immediate aftermath of a strongarm theft from a convenience store, reached into a patrol car to punch the officer and try to take his gun, taunted the officer saying he "was too much of a pussy to shoot" him, and was shot while advancing on the officer who repeatedly told him stop and lay down on the ground.
The "hands up, don't shoot" story was related by Brown's companion at the convenience story theft and uncorroborated by any credible witness, but despite this, it remains a rallying cry of the Black Lives Matter movement.
If the above ruffles your feathers, try reading the final report of the Federal Justice department under Eric Holder who rushed down there in the aftermath to make sure someone got charged.
Michael Brown's mom will reportedly be a guest at the Democratic National Convention to support Hillary. If I'd pulled a Michael Brown at age 18 against a cop 6" shorter and 2/3rds my weight, my folks would be avoiding the limelight, burying me in a private ceremony and taking every opportunity to apologize for my actions.

A) Disallowed opinions.......or disavowed opinions?
"This is the oldest trick in the book.... it brings out more violence!!! It's a terrible cycle that always escalates into something worse. Thus forcing us to ask ourselves, who is benefiting from this? THAT's the answer I want to get to,” she said.
B) Note to a former county supervisor and former GV council person: if Trump wins the election and you try to move to Canada, good luck. Your misdemeanor plea forever prevents you from immigrating to the land of the Maple Leaf. They don't allow your kind in their country.
Perhaps the former county supervisor and former GV city councilperson could move to Mexico, the country everybody is trying to immigrate out of.

The sock puppet "Jon Dozer", believed my many to be Stephen Frisch of the so-called Sierra Business Council and/or Jeff Pelline, former Editor of The Union and current publisher of a glossy advertiser that has to be given away to have any circulation at all, is once again committing a classic fallacy... intimating Trump has a connection to Duke or the Klan outside of gotcha! journalism, or that arrest, which Trump does not.
I'd say Pelline is currently fisting the Dozer sock, only an expert in empty rhetoric (Jeff's major at Cal) can pull that off so well.

Stop the tape, stop the tape!
Words of whizdumb from that six figure CEO of a Truckee 501c3, Stephen Frisch, at a blog where many of us can't post:
"The problem i have with sloppy inconsistent thinking driven by ‘opinion’ without applying logic and fair standards is that it makes our ‘progressive’ friends look like kooks, charlatans, and conspiracy theorists"
That it does, Steve, thanks for noticing. They are kooks, charlatans and conspiracy theorists and that does include both Senum and Ben Emery.
On a related note, Reinette Senum has identified "Rachel French" posting at the FUE's as a sock puppet, and Jeffie also lets a certain Sierra College professor to drool under the "Joe Koyote" banner while claiming to require real names only at his blog. How many socks are currently throwing chunks into Jeff's fan?
If Jeff didn't have double standards he'd have no standards at all.

Gregory, Steve F is miles above Pelline, miles. What I am going to say may not tickle your fancy, but here goes:
Re: that pesky discrete matter in Nevada City that Pelline wants to go way, yet he is now the only one talking about it. Go figure.
Steve F laid out the very best argument articulating what I feel concerning the local dust up that did not remain confined to the city limits of The Berkely of the Foothills per normal.
I could not have said it better, been more even kneeled, or more articulate than Steve's one post at Pelline's blog. I wrote a 100 times the words and 20 times the comments, yet failed to get it out the way Steve did. He gets a star in my book. Then again, since I leave the AWG stuff to you and Russ and those who are in the know, I am twice removed and more objective than you when it comes to Steve. I give him a big Good Job, Mr. Steve. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Of course this kudos is buried in the "old sandbox". :)
stevefrisch says:
July 20, 2016 at 6:19 pm
Yeah, I may be deleted too.
I think that Reinette’s original comment that, “They have obviously been given directives to go out there and kill,’ is still the operative comment. For someone to ‘give directives’ there must be premeditation, and sans presented proof of premeditation is irresponsible talk, especially for a public official who oversees a law enforcement agency. It was an ill-conceived inflammatory and conspiratorial comment, which is indicative of deeper oft demonstrated thought processes.
With that said, and as I said here, I don’t believe the response against Reinette’s business and her person was warranted and are bordering on disgusting. People should be secure in holding even unpopular beliefs.
But then again, I don’t think chem-trails are real, there is almost no evidence that genetically modified food is inherently dangerous, I don’t think there is a conspiracy to control the media, I vehemently disagree with recommending that people not get vaccinated, and I don’t believe that the profit motive is inherently corrupt or that it inherently corrupts people or processes.
I do question people (un-named) left, right or center, male or female, of any race, creed or color, who make factually unsupportable statements and then defend them with nonsense like the idea that “all opinions are equal” which I have seen all to often here and on other Nevada County forums.
Thinking all ‘opinions’ are equal is the same thing as thinking science does not exist, evidence is irrelevant, facts and knowledge are irrelevant. It is sloppy, undisciplined and irrational thinking.
An opinion by definition is “a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.”
All opinions are not equal; opinions supported by evidence, fact and knowledge are superior.
If you don’t want your ‘opinions’ deconstructed don’t post them on public forums. If you state an ‘opinion’ you should be prepared to support it with facts, knowledge, research, logic, etc.
I also question the practice of, after stating an ‘opinion’ publicly, painting people who deconstruct that ‘opinion’ as bullies. We should be responsible for what we believe and even more responsible when we state it publicly. We should also have the ability to say without shame, “upon further evidence and reflection I have changed my opinion.”
Facts exist, science exists, and there is such a thing as truth. Granted truth may change as new facts come in, and we should be constantly searching for new facts, but in the mean time we can only act on the facts we have, and seek more.
Belief without facts is actually emotion. Lampooning such beliefs is not libel it is art.
