Trump doesn't even have Republican support for an "investigation" into voter fraud. An example (besides Ryan)

“This basically undermines the idea of an election, this undermines the Constitution,” said Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R – IL),“If you really believe that there were 3 million to 5 million illegal votes, please share that proof. Show us how.”

Proof is crucial, Kinzinger noted, because you need to convince people who might be skeptical of your claims — and not just those who already agree with you.

“Because when you just attack it and say, ‘I’ll show you proof eventually,’ or you say, ‘Hey, look, just trust me on this one,’ you get some people who believe it because of confirmation bias,” he explained. “But at the end of the day, you have to show proof of that. You have to show why you’re undermining the Constitution of the United States… Show us the proof before you make the accusation.”

There are no friends Paul, only temporary alliances. Mexico serves as a conduit for a river of human beings who will likely go on the dole for their entire lives. Coincidentally these people are likely to vote democrat in order to get their freebies and spend that money on things that constituents of the republicans sell.

Is this really so hard for you to wrap your head around?

How are you supposed to obtain proof without an investigation?

ScenesFromTheApocalypse

"Trump doesn't even have Republican support for an "investigation" into voter fraud. "

Of course not. The existing system perfectly suits career politicians.

It's all a natural side effect of installing the first third-party President. The reactionaries are bound to bite back.

Bill Tozer

Opiate of the masses.
About Mexico, they still are a dirt poor nation no matter how we slice and dice it. And a very proud people. Very proud, like the Russian people and apparently the limies redcoats as well. The Redcoats are coming!

Cooling off period is a good idea for the two heads of state for Mexico and the US. Worse case scenario is China moves in for all that free trade with Mexico. Mexico does have like 41 by-lateral trade agreements with other nations. But, they still are a dirt poor nation and we are their big big big #1 trading partner and prize.

Enough high level discussions are going on and have never stopped between the US and Me-he-co. Behind the scenes. Need to separate the two issues of trade and the Wall.
Personally, I don't give a hoot who pays for the Wall. Just get 'er done.

Remember once we were being taken advantage by Japan. Killing us and blocking some of our imports while we were allowing their stuff in freely. Reagen gets up there and announces some tariffs on Japan. Exploding heads time. Japan was going to overtake the US and be the biggest economic powerhouse in the world. Trade War!!! Sky is falling. Hair on fire!

So, I did a little poking around. We banned their TVs!!! Come to find out it was a weird size (like 22.5 inch or something) and Japan only sold around 200 of those in the US...ever. That wired size was for the European market. Anyway, everybody saved face and back to behind the scenes stuff.

Remember boys and girls, the Wall violates no one's civil rights.

Opiate for the masses.

Gregory

The first 3rd party President was arguably Lincoln in the then new Republican Party, who had bailed from the Whigs as they self destructed.

There's a fresh study that shows *only* 800,000 votes nationwide by illegals. Somehow, I don't see that as supporting the Paul Emerys out there who think there should be proof before the Feds go looking for evidence.

I expect the folks screaming bloody murder think illegal voters will be found if the government actually goes looking for them.

Paul Emery

This guy Trump has a serious ego problem. Apparently he personally called National Park Service director complaining the photo's of the inauguration displayed what a puny crowd showed up. This guy is weird. Why was it so important to him? Bizarre and disturbing behavior from our Prez active.

"On the morning after Donald Trump’s inauguration, acting National Park Service director Michael T. Reynolds received an extraordinary summons: The new president wanted to talk to him.

In a Saturday phone call, Trump personally ordered Reynolds to produce additional photographs of the previous day’s crowds on the Mall, according to three individuals who have knowledge of the conversation. The president believed that the photos might prove that the media had lied in reporting that attendance had been no better than average.

Trump also expressed anger over a retweet sent from the agency’s account, in which side-by-side photographs showed far fewer people at his swearing-in than had shown up to see Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009."

Our new Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said at a ceremony in the UN today; 'for those who don't have our back were taking names.' Peace through strength baby! ;-)

Paul Emery

I'm sure she didn't say those exact words Don. Can you give me a link to what inspired you?

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery seams deranged. Trump's ego? All politicians and news anchors have huge egos. They no each other well. Trump is negotiating with Mexico as we now know they called him this morning to discuss things. And the peso is tanking so that seems to be bringing them to the table. o far so good for Trump and the planet.

Actually Paul I heard an audio clip of Haley saying something very close to what Don just described.

Paul Emery

Just curious Fish as to what exactly she said.

fish

Well you can probably Google Secretary Haley press conference if you want it verbatim.

Paul Emery

This is what she said last week in her confirmation hearings whici sounded pretty reasonable. Perhaps she has a case of Trump Mouth-meaning don's believe a word being said.

" In the course of her Senate confirmation hearing, Haley testified several times that she did not believe in a "slash and burn" approach to U.S. funding at the U.N.
"I do not think we need to pull money from the U.N.," Haley told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week. "It's not something I would consider as ambassador or anything that I would suggest back to you for Congress."
"

Bill Tozer

Hey guys and lady, I need some help here. I have already run out of superlatives to describe the Meltdown. It's like they have seven bowling balls coming at them all at once and they keep picking them up and dropping them on their foot and reach for another bowling ball and pick it up and drop it on their foot again! Oh my. Mr. President is a pinball wizard if there ever was one. Feel them bumpers, hit the flippers.

Hate to see our fellow liberal Americans in such anguish, even mental anguish. It's not like we want to physically harm them, but I do get a slight degree of satisfaction from the new superlative for meltdown. Slight because because I am a deplorable and have not yet fully spiritually evolved.

Mia from Utah killed it today, from the rumor mill. Had all those smiling women in tears. Those be happy smiling women....the same evil doers who elected Trump. And get this....they pick up after themselves. Odd.

BTW, Mia was a big Cruz supporter. Nikki never endorsed Trump either. All they had to say was I will vote for The Donald. Close enough. Smart move picking Pence. Very smart move. Chess Player still doing his thing behind the curtain, but he is next up for the Wrath of Bedwetting Nation.

Flood the zone Mr. Trump. Got them spinning like Linda Blair's head in the Exorcist. Best to watch out for that green split pea soup heading our way.

Wonder what week two will bring.

Paul Emery

Yeah looks like Trump Mouth is contagious. I'd be pissed if I voted for her based on her testimony. You can't believe a word this crew says,

""For those who don't have our backs, we're taking names."

What is she going to say to the Ukraine after Trump removes sanctions put on Russia after the invasion?

The Pubs are freaking out about how to replace the Affordable Care Act. This is from a recording of a closed door meeting. Our owh Tom McClintock musing about the dilemma.

“We’d better be sure that we’re prepared to live with the market we’ve created” with repeal, said Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.). “That’s going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and we’ll be judged in the election less than two years away.”

It's the health care issue where the frenetic pace of the Tangerine Tornados early days as president should slow dramatically. Don't do anything substantive to repeal the Unaffordable Care Act....a few token gestures, an XO or two but nothing dramatic. Let this piece of shit die of natural causes under all the obligations that Sugar Frosted Barry O's deferred until he was out of office start to crash on the beach as representatives return to their districts to start to get ready for election season. Make sure the electorate knows that Nancy, and "Manboobs" Schumer are standing in the way of legitimate healthcare reform because they want to preserve the thing. Things should really start to smell just before the mid terms and he'll still be able to pin the whole mess on the democrats.

There might be no democrap office holder above the mayoral level left to run against anywhere in the country by the 2020 election.

We're the only developed country that does not require ID to vote... some real information that there is rampant fraud would probably break the courts confusion between ID and suppression.

How about we start allowing guns to be sold to people without ID... after all, a constitutional right is a constitutional right, and the anti-gunners are as adamant that they're trying to suppress gun ownership as the KKK was about suppressing the black vote in their heyday.

Bill Tozer

You can wait for what you want PE but we are waiting to enjoy the squirming and squealing from leftists who are realizing they have been caught by President Trumps voting investigation. The one that starts here in CA. We will be joining the rest of the first world countries who demand an id to vote in the not too distant future. One citizen, one vote. Making America Great Again in only 5 days on the job. ;-)

George Rebane

PaulE 525pm - Fair enough Paul; we await Gregory's citation. However there was an analysis (by Heritage I believe) of a fairly random selection of 30K voter registrations that indicated about 3% of them were by non-citizens. The US has 146M+ registered voters. We can start scoping the election fraud problem by taking 3% of that number (4.4M) and whittling it down. The surviving sum is still large and needs a closer look by some blue blood panel. I still wonder why anyone would expose/perjure themselves by registering to vote and then not voting.

Todd Juvinall

I see dead people. And they are on the rolls in Nevada County and they vote. That is a rumor I heard recently. Maybe Mr. Diaz will do a purge and see if that is true?

Todd

Have you actually looked at the voter polls yourself and found that information? What is the source of your "rumor"?

George, it is one thing to have a reasonable question as to voter fraud based on the look of a Libertarian leaning private organization and making a proclamation such as Trump did that he would have won the popular vote if illegals hadn't supported Clinton. That's a leap that you of all people with your mathematical background should find ludicrous and highly unlikely.
That a leap that few Republicans are willing to fund and is not supported by the Speaker of the House anong others. He will have to take personal control of the investigation. Is it important enough in your view when the purpose is to gather information to bolster Trumps ego. He is an odd duck for sure.

Watching the news tonight, Sac. city, county, and LIBS under the dome are getting REAL nervous about the moneys they are soon to lose. Yet continue to bluster in defiance.
Then some legal professor says Ca. is safe. " Trump can't do that." Well just who is he trying to kid? Hell yes Trump can cut off discretionary funds. The FEDS have done it in the past to "nudge" states into compliance. They did it for the push for the 55MPH speed limit.
"55 or else!". They did it to states for raising the drinking age from whatever it was, to 21. Looks like the Prof. was smoking something.

2018 is the election year where 25 Democratic Senate seats are up for grabs, it starts just 11 months from now... is this investigation going to drive their losses up, or down?

We live in interesting times.

Why do you think Jason Chaffetz has no interest in the question and doesn't see any evidence? From Fox News:

Last night, while attending the GOP retreat in Philadelphia, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) told reporters that the committee that he chairs, the House Oversight Committee, isn’t “planning to do anything” when it comes to investigating Trump’s claims.

“On the voter fraud issue, that really happens at the county level. I don’t see any evidence,” Chaffetz said.

Don Bessee

Who cares what some congressman says when the executive branch has issued a seek and destroy target order on illegal aliens voting? Its all about enforcing the laws on the books, ALL OF THEM! Team 0 hoped for change, we are seeing REAL CHANGE. God bless us one and all. You too PE. ;-)

Bill Tozer

Oh @8:50 pm, my little 8:50 pm.
Chaffetz is too busy with his multi-pronged investigation into the damage Hillary did to the State Department and our country via her private server that put our nation and overseas personnel at risk. Very busy and he won't stop. He is a bulldog. One track mind.

Trump will proceed to protect the integrity of the ballot via the Justice Department and FEC. Hey, Loris Lerner did such a great job at the FEC, Obama brought her over to the IRS to do a few special errands for him. Voter fraud procesutuon is the job of the AG, not Congress. Sessions is experienced in putting fraudsters in the clink.

This Is How the Country Breaks Apart

JASON WILLICK writing at the American Interest

The Golden State is symbolically showcasing its commitment to tolerance and inclusion… by cutting off state funds for travel (including for college athletic competitions) to states that the legislature deems insufficiently socially liberal.

[ooo]

It is ironic that the Golden State is taking such an aggressively anti-federalist position seeing as many of its own policies are on a collision course with those of the Trump administration and it will surely invoke states rights to try and defend them. But needless to say, California-type policies could go both ways; for example, red states could cut off state-funded travel with states that contain sanctuary cities. We do not want to go down this road.

How delicious that would be if red states applied the same rules that CA libs use to punish those they disagree with. There are far more conservative red state legislatures now than before the Democrat Party collapsed in the 2016 elections.

More evidence of the coming great divide?

One of the interesting items in the fine print of the immigration executive order was the directive to fully enforce and collect fines. The law is on the books and has never been enforced. 1st offense for facilitation or aiding an illegal immigrant is $10,000 per, for repeat offenders its $20,000 per violation. That could put a dent in a lot of pockets, I wonder if they will levy fines on cities for facilitation violations? Talk about a big stick, not only will you lose your federal grant money but we will fine you for every illegal alien a city harbors. That could add up very fast, OUCH! ;-)

Foreigners from those seven nations have killed zero Americans in terrorist attacks on U.S. soil between 1975 and the end of 2015.

“Contrary to alarmist political rhetoric, the appeal of revolutionary violence has remained very limited among Muslim-Americans,” Charles Kurzman, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the author of the Triangle Center report, said in a statement. “Let’s use this empirical evidence to guide our policy-making and public debates on violent extremism.”

Go Trump. Keep the terrorists out of here.

Did I miss something, or was it our beloved PaulE? I thought the reported cause of the current sink hole was a culvert that failed, not a forgotten mine shaft. For those new to area, horizontal mine shafts are much deeper underground than the few tens of feet of our community's infrastructure water courses. And mine shafts are not conduits for flowing water since any such water would quickly collapse the mine shaft and stop the flow. But none of that matters when liberals, like the aforementioned, start panicking the community's low-information types.

Todd Juvinall

Went by today, it is a failed culvert.

Paul Emery

You would have to ask why did the former owners of the mine failed to present an acceptable EIR on the project. One of the major concerns were the possibility of collapsing ground due to mining activity. Sinkhole? Depends on how you define he word. A hole in the ground that sinks is what? A sinkhole.

The whole thing was a scam anyway.

Either way doesn't have a chance of pass9ng the planning commission and City Council. One of the after effects of Trump winning is the huge activation of local activism. Never seen anything like it.

Gregory

The downside of the activism that is giving Paul a tingle up his leg is that it may well tend to turn off swing voters. If the GOP succeeds at the national level, that local bluification the local regressive Progressives are counting on may reverse itself.

It remains amusing how the Progressives have exercised their right to selective amnesia and are ignoring Gloria Steinem's "One Free Grope Rule" that would give Trump the same Get Out Of Hell card that was given Bubba, who actually got taken to court for sexual harassment, and lost, because Bubba didn't take no for an answer:
"In a 1998 press interview, Steinem weighed in on the Clinton impeachment hearings when asked whether President Bill Clinton should be impeached for lying under oath, she was quoted as saying, "Clinton should be censured for lying under oath about Lewinsky in the Paula Jones deposition, perhaps also for stupidity in answering at all." In a March 22, 1998 Op/Ed piece in the New York Times, she effectively gave support to the notion that a man may: (1) uninvited, open-mouth kiss a woman; (2) uninvited, fondle a woman's breast; and (3) uninvited, take a woman's hand and place it on the man's genitals; and as long as the man retreats once the woman says "no" that this does not constitute sexual harassment. This has become known in the popular culture as the "One Free Grope" Theory. The Op/Ed piece was written in an attempt to defend then President Clinton against allegations of sexual impropriety that had been made by White House volunteer Kathleen Willey."

Hypocrisy is an equal opportunity rathole.

PE- from the well regarded cato... Well regarded by you perhaps. 'huge activation of local activism. Never seen anything like it.' That's funny PE, looks like the same old same old in NC. ;-)

George Rebane

Are you gentlemen still linking the sinkhole to the likelihood that GV or the county will allow a new mining business to establish itself here and create some much needed jobs and tax revenues? I like the way the above debate skips willy-nilly from one aspect to another without coming to some resolution on any of them. Definitely hard to follow.

Walt

Be afraid paul, be VARY afraid. The anti mine gang used lie after lie. Fear is a good tool to use on the ignorant. ECO crap. Like bitching about raising the creek three inches.
OH!! dewatering will cool the stream! The mill will be an eyesore! CYANIDE!!! Lies about how the extraction of gold would happen. Using mine accidents with not one bit of relation to this mine.
Promises of "high tech" jobs that would fill the void. To this day, those "high tech" jobs have yet to arrive.
So start filling your buckets of crap to fling.

Don Bessee

DR. R 323- PE's ADD issues do come to the fore on occasion. ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Well my pal attended the Dollar General EIR comments last week and there is the NO JOBS, NO BUSINESS gangs again. Jesus Christ would ot get a mini-mart on our county. PE may be on to something.

Walt

Paul. With the money tit going dry all because Ca. harboring illegals, the state will be looking for money. And money getting dug from the ground will start looking pretty good.
The EPA is getting it's teeth pulled. Yup, less regs. to contend with.

You can bet the new mine "owners" have been forewarned of your pal's tactics. Armed with that knowledge, expect a harder fight.

Don Bessee

Todd- I was at the draft EIR meeting too. It was the same crews as usual who were not even talking about the EIR for the most part, nothing new there at all. I did note that there was commissioner push back on even having an EIR when the properties are already zoned for the use. I did notice that PE, the KVMR news guy was not there. ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Yes I heard the properties do conform to the zoning so once again to me it proved zoning is bullsh** and why have it. And to force a business on three separate parcels not connected phyiscally to go through this is not lawful. My guess is that County Counsel gal is at her best again. She destroyed the San Juan mine with unlawful advice and the Supes let her. That is why PE is on to something. Even with three R's we can't get squat accomplished.

Don Bessee

But that's nothing new or different as you note Todd, we have seen this all before. ;-)

While that’s a “negative” in terms of state tax revenue, the budget calls it a “positive development” from “an income distribution standpoint.” Apparently the governor thinks a wider distribution of poverty is a worthy goal.

Well, he has achieved it. California now has the highest poverty rate of any state in the nation, 20.6 percent, when calculated under the U.S. Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure to account for the cost of living.

I can hear it now. "DOPE will save the cities and county! Who needs a mine?"

Gregory

Regarding tunnels, I love the scene in Paint Your Wagon where the tunnels under the fictional No Name City (inspired by Nevada City) start collapsing, and the preacher is greeted by his nemesis:

I've read Lee Marvin referred to the movie as Cat Ballou II, and had it written in that he could drink on the set. Real booze in the bottles.
