Punchy, that is wonderful news. Thank you for sharing.

“What matters is what families and students think about having a change agent in this position,” Janine Yass argues in a Washington Examiner op-ed. “If you judge from the tens of thousands of families on waiting lists for charter schools and for scholarships in private schools it is apparent that poor families are desperate for someone who will fight for them for a change.” Yass also scolded the media for ignoring “the faces of the millions of families and students who have been the victims of bad education policy.”

Sadly, Democrats and their media cohorts are more interested in protecting what they accurately consider the Holy Grail, because indoctrination masqueraded as education is the pathway to statism. And Americans are fed up with it. Thankfully, with the help of DeVos' agenda, they will be ignored no more."

Yep, she is a bad one for sure. Filthy rich donor too boot. Well, if we can get our weakest nominee through, there ain't no stopping the Deplorables now. Next up: Trying Soros for treason. Be afraid, be very afraid. The sky is falling!

Don Bessee

For a news person PE you sound so willfully ignorant of politics. Who were big donors to the 2 R's who voted against DeVos? A- Teachers unions. What's a few mill super pac bucks here or there when you are billionaires? You do recognize that your 950k in 37 years is only 25k a year for Senators from the whole family, right PE? That's Secretary DeVos to you as of a few hours ago. ;-)

Don Bessee

The Army just confirmed the Dakota Access pipeline has been approved. The indian tribe is still cleaning up the snowflake protesters camp and now the pipeline is back on. How much do you want to bet they will have the last pipeline section completed before the snowflakes garbage is cleaned up? ;-)

Paul Emery

Gosh and golly guys!!! I thought things were going to be different under Trump-no more pay to play. I'm so disenchanted... I thought Trump was leading a crusade to drain the swamp,

Paul Emery

Should not make much difference because she can't do much because Conservatives leave education and curriculum up to local and State control and don't believe in Federal control of schools.

Don Bessee

Yes PE, drain the swamp of the calcified same old, same old group think you so regularly demonstrate. DeVos has worked the issue for years yet has not been tainted by the swamp in DC, like much of the NEW Cabinet. Pay for play, that's a laugh, madam liar liar pantsuits on fire wouldn't pick up a latte for all the money the DeVos family has donated to pacs. ;-)

Gregory

I'm sure Trump has been a big disappointment to you, Paul. Just think, if Clinton campaign Fieldmarshal Podesta hadn't started pushing for Trump as Hillary's designate chump two years ago, who knows who might be president now!

Take solace in the fact the Scalia seat will be filled by a Jeffersonian textualist... just what this libertarian wanted as a consolation prize.

Don Bessee

PE 122- She can take an axe to the department and remove all of 0's mandates while dismantling the FED ed machine. ;-)

Don

Sorry you're confused about this Don but those numbers are just for the last two election cycles (8 years) Follow my link and you will find that this applies to current Senators who voted on her confirmation.

Also can you send me documentation on Union contributions to the two Senators who opposed Her? Shouldn't say those things unless you can back it up.

Once again here's a link to my documentation. Please check it out before you open your mouth, Makes you look like an idiot.

"In the past two election cycles alone, her family has donated $8.3 million to Republican Party super PACs."

Paul Emery

Don

Can you give us an outline as to what Obama "mandates " there are? I have no idea so here's an opportunity to educate me. You've got a little homework to do Don.

Don Bessee

Read you own post PE, you mentioned 950k from the family since 1980. Who cares that they gave 8 mill to super pacs? Pay for play was your charge yet no quid pro quo is established oh brilliant one. The Clinton foundation is the pay for play player of the century! ;-)

Don Bessee

Seems to me its incumbent on the press, even radio, to educate themselves before putting a focus on their lack of depth on a given subject. Get thee an edumacation on the dept of education. ;-)

Gregory

People forget that locally "controlled" schools are actually centrally controlled by uncontrolled (by the public) teacher's unions which really are coordinated by state level union representatives working in and around the state education departments, one of the reasons the CTA is the 600lb gorilla in the one party state of California. IIRC about half of state and local tax revenues have historically been spent on education. Remember... it's for the CHILDREN!

Colleges of education have been pushing labor intensive and ineffective pedagogies (look it up) while promoting labor rules that do not value intellect or real academic achievement. Teachers overwhelmingly arise from the bottom 25% of incoming college freshmen, and, believe me, if you have teachers with an average of 900 or so points on the SAT Math + Verbal, you aren't going to be getting lots of high school graduates with M+V above 1250.

We need teachers that can teach, not just encourage students discovering material for themselves, standing on the shoulders of their fellow students rather than the giants that teachers formerly used for lecture inspirations.

Paul Emery

Don
Don't understand your problem

Here's the exact words from my quote on my post.

" In the past two election cycles alone, her family has donated $8.3 million to Republican Party super PACs."

IF you go to the link you will see the exact amount given to GO"P Senators that voted on her confirmation. It's a graphic so I couldn't reproduce it. Here's a link to the entire article. Pay to play? You bet.

I have no problem PE, you however appear to not even comprehend or remember what you write. Poor ol' PE.

PE 1250 today- "Republican Senators have received $115,000 from Betsy DeVos herself, and more than $950,000 from the full DeVos clan since 1980." Then you snivel about the super pacs.

Did you get your edumacation yet PE? ;-)

Paul Emery

It sure they contribute Todd. I thought Trump was going to change that on the Repub side. Very disappointing . Can you provide me with documentation on the Unions contribution? I provided that for the DeVoss situation.

Before we hyperventilate about DeVos buying her SecEd seat, it’s good to take a look at what the teachers unions have been doing for years and years to dumb down our kids. As the record shows, I’ve not been a fan of the Dept of Ed, now’s the time to drain that part of the swamp. A correspondent forwarded this –

Betsy DeVos was confirmed as the new Secretary of Education -- 51-50. This, after Democrats did everything possible to stop her, including a pathetic 24-hour talking marathon designed to please the radical Left while posturing to care for kids. Take a look at the political contributions made by teachers unions in 2016...
National Education Association: $23.7 million
American Federation of Teachers: $8.8 million
AFT Solidarity: $425,000

And where did these millions go?
Democrats in Congress: $ 2,315,309
Republicans in Congress: $ 212,859

That means that Democrats received nearly 92% of all political contributions that teachers unions gave to members of the United States Congress.

The vote on Betsy DeVos was not about children. Senate Democrats (and 2 Republicans) voted against DeVos to protect a monopoly that funds their campaigns, and protects a system that is failing our children. Want proof? Just last month, a nonpartisan study by the federal Institute of Education Sciences revealed that the Obama administration School Improvement Grant (SIG) program failed to achieve any academic improvement for students... over 8 years! The program spent over $7 billion, the largest investment ever to help failing public schools. And it accomplished NOTHING. Yet, Democrats in the Senate fought tooth and nail to preserve the status quo.

Don Bessee

PE @ 310- Just how was the President to change the DeVos donations that happened in the past? You doubt that the teacher Unions spend their money on dems? Silly is starting to border on senility there my friend. ;-)

Paul Emery

Likely they did however I just like to see documentation to know how it related to this nomination. Otherwise it's just a hunch. See what you can find Don.

Don Bessee

PE, I am very comfortable in the fact of the matter however you can put your glasses on and read Dr. R's 317 for the minutia. ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Here is a typical list from the FEC on Pelosi. Just one committee. You will see she gets 90% of the vote so it is a safe seat. Yet she raised or was bribed to the tune of 4 million plus by many PACs and companies the left says they hate. You cannot make this stuff up. Oh, LaMalfa raised about 400K .

The latest from the Trumper. I just can't keep up. This guy is a real gem you guys are going to have to live with. He's kinda like an ugly tattoo you won't be able to wash off.

"President Donald Trump threatened to “destroy” the career of a Texas state senator after a Texas sheriff accused the lawmaker of getting in his way by promoting asset forfeiture reform. Check oput the video.

“Want to give his name? We’ll destroy his career,” Trump told Sheriff Harold Eavenson of Rockwall County, Texas. Trump’s comment was met with laughter and Eavenson declined to give the official’s name.

Trump made the remark during a listening session with county sheriffs at the White House. Eavenson is in line to become president of the National Sheriffs’ Association in June, the Dallas Morning News reported."

Paul, your worries about the dept. of Ed have been taken care of by congressman Massie of KY. Massie and his co-sponsors introduced legislation to terminate the dept. of Ed effective Dec. 31 2018, H.R. 899. That will cut federal jobs for sure. ;-)

Don Bessee

Since we are talking about cutting government civilian employees and spending PE, did you know that the EPA was created with an executive order? ;-)

Bill Tozer

To name only a few, records show that The National Education Association threw $18.1 million into the coffers of Democrats and spent another $1.4 million on advocacy. The Service Employees International Union also opened its pocketbook wide, donating a whopping $19 million to Democrats. And the liberal UNITE HERE spent $4 million just to register voters.

All total, unions spent at least $108.2 million on politics this cycle compared to the $78 million spent in 2012 and the $59.1 million spent in 2008,
according to The Wall Street Journal.

Little of that went to Republicans.

Bill Tozer

It does not get better than this. What is more fun to watch? A black nationalist or a black nationalist that believes in Sharia Law? I can't believe the luck that comes from winning. So Don, Todd, George, Bill what is your view on view on asset forfeiture without a conviction or an arrest?

Asset forfeiture is widespread and doesn't even require a conviction or even an arrest to enforce. Banning it is what the unnamed Texas Senator proposed that caused Trump to suggest he would destroy his career. . According to the Washington post, in 2014, federal authorities alone seized over $5 billion from suspected criminals, more than the total losses to burglary that year. That number doesn't even count seizures conducted by state and local law enforcement.

On this we are in agreement....it's how police buy all the goodies that they'd like to have but can't get budgeted for!

Don Bessee

Ya Fish, like druid detectors. ;-)

Bill Tozer

Paul, without going in the details or Trump specially, that asset seizure program run by some counties (Sheriff Departments) in Florida is downright theft and no bueno. A guy is at the airport with 5k on him and they seize it as potential drug money and they never get it back. It takes lawsuits and much time and they never get it all back after much effort. It's akin to the IRS seizing money from a live-in girlfriend because they think you are hiding it from them. Needs reformed. Guilty until proven innocent. P

Now, if your local LE budget is counting on the asset seizure program as part of its annual budget, the motive is there to push the envelop.

But Paul, as far as the Feds seizing 200 foot yachts, private jets, and mansions from "poor little innocent immigrants from South America", I say fry their ass and bring back torture. Cut their balls off and make them choke on their own gonads. Then seize their stuff and deport them. Oh yeah, try them in absentia just to make it legal.

But, even if you can't do all that fun stuff just for kicks, just torture them good and hard tor a fortnight. Then take their shoes and make them walk across hot coals and shredded glass if they want to leave. If they make that far, they are free to go.

Paul Emery

So then to all of you are opposed to asset forfeiture without a trial or arrest let me ask you what is your view of trumps proposal to ruin the career of a senator from Texas Who wishes to change those laws ?

Don Bessee

Why, why, why? ;-)

Bill Tozer

Trump will ruin a lot of politicians careers if things go right. That is why the Deplorables have him sitting in the Oval Office.
Actually, Paul, with all the real big stuff going on right now and with the press trying frantically to catch up and the liberals' heads exploding at every turn, your concerns about asset forfeiture is back burner stuff. First we have to get Sessions sworn in in some back closet tomorrow afternoon. Then, it will be the new AG 's job to tackle such issues. There is an order to these thing, Mr. Paul. Patience. Give it 3-4 months and then maybe this will be moved to the front burner for a couple of days. Russia, Iran, the economy, getting a handle on orderly immigration, China, trade policies, SCOTUS, rebuilding the military, the Wall, cleaning out the Intelligence agencies of America haters, cleaning out State from Wasabi lovers ...stuff like that better on Trump's mind for awhile.

Your questions Paul, are premature and not all the facts have been presented. One side of the story does not cut it.
Still drinking the opiates of the masses I see. Lay off HUFF-N-PUFF Post and get your head cleared out.

Bill Tozer

Oh yeah. This Obamacare disaster, tax reform...much to fix. Let Sessions handle your concerns. I did not read your link about what Trump said in 2014, before he threw his hat in the ring or whatever. Your heart is full of hate and I have wasted too much previous time on your cognitive disconnect.

Bill Tozer

I saw what Paul was freaking out over on Yahoo News. Trump is a funny guy. He was paling around with some deputies and also said "I bet the cartel would like that", about ending the program to the delight of the officers in the room. That was after someone asked him about the state legislature who wanted to end the practice. "Who is it, I will destroy them" got the room howling. The deputies offered no names of the "who done it lawmaker" and let it ride. No one was being thrown under the bus. In reality, it was two state lawmakers that co-authored the bill, one D and on R....one a female, FYI. Bi-partisan and bi-gender. The big top.

Trump brought more attention to the issue in 10 seconds than Obama or the DOJ did in 8 years. And made the room laugh. Trump is a funny guy for being The Emperor God. Usually Emperor Gods are not known for lighting up a room. How absolutely deplorable of him.

Breaking news! Trump says he will cure cancer! Film at eleven.

Looks like Trump's botched raid in Yemen that killed thirty civilians (including women and children), a Navy SEAL, and an American child didn't go so well.

"Trump authorized the raid without adequate intelligence, ground support, or backup, according to U.S. military officials. On top of that, he failed to kill his primary target, Al Qaeda leader Qassim al-Rimi, and the “valuable intelligence” he recovered turned out to be a few videos that have been available on YouTube for about a decade. To make matters worse, al-rimi is currently Taunting Trump and Yemen has decided he is so inept that The Donald isn’t allowed to play with his toys in their house anymore."

I'm afraid that phallus worship is pretty much baked into the cake in all governments.

According to the Associated Press, Trump hailed the new jobs numbers, saying,

"Great spirit in the country right now. We're very happy about that. We're bringing back jobs, we're bringing down your taxes, we're getting rid of your regulations."

The report was a strong one, with 227,000 jobs added and the unemployment rate moving slightly upward due to more people looking for work this is a good thing). And it belongs 100 percent, lock, stock, and barrel, to Barack Obama."

I'm not going to track down just which ECO LIB thought that was such a hot idea. It wasn't HIS or HERS's money getting pissed away by the gallon.

At least with PE we can have pity and laugh, BC, not so much. ;-)

Star Wars! Oh, I love the drama. See Trump is toying with the JV team again.

Jeff Sessions is now the nation's Attorney General. Tom Price is now the nation's HHS Secretary. And all the bluster we have had to endure from democrats over the years about "bi-partisan" and "crossing the aisle" was proved top be a democrat lie. Not one democrat crossed the aisle. So once again America gets to see the democrats for what they really are. HYPOCRITES and LIARS.

Congrats to Sessions and Price, as well as DeVoss and the rest. Democrats are making themselves unwelcome and thankfully so. And they are doing this all to themselves. Unable to compromise they will become the political DODO birds. Good! Go getum Jeff Sessions!

Walt

OH.. Who will the Progressives put on display for President? Izzy Warren? Or Al Franken??
I can't wait! HELL! Dems can't even figure out who is to lead the party. The DEM donkey has been sent to the dog food plant, yet even the dogs won't eat it.

Bill Tozer

Walt, I know, I know. Even Taco Bell and Jack in the Box refused deliveries of the lib meat wagon.

Rather interesting cast of characters in our Reality Show. Nigel, Milo, The Emperor God-man, Spreading Bull, and Chuck E Cheese. Hell, we even got Maxine Waters to do some cameos and Linda McMahon to do some good take downs. This is better than the OJ trail with Kato and Judge Ito with his dancing black robed backup singers.

Walt, it does not seem like I am misreading the Gorsuch thing,

DonB, I am only the messenger. I did not make it up, and I don't like to repeat fake news.

BradC

What I think everybody needs to do is pull our 'collective' heads out of our dogma's ass and dump Trump - not because I am a lib, or progressive, or whatever - because the Repuplicans already won. They can dump Trump and put in another guy who will not go down in history as the worst president ever. Do the right thing and fire his ass.

Todd Juvinall

Texas has outlawed "sanctuary cities" in their state. UI hear that Austin wants to relocate to California.

Bill Tozer

Brad C: Well, look at the bright side. If Trump goes down as the worse President in history, that will take Obama off the hook. Obama replaced Jimmy Peanut Farmer Carter on the throne for worse President in history. Musical chairs, professional courtesy.

Now, where is Congress submitting bills in a flurry? They have to jump on this 100 day bandwagon and start writing some stuff. I hope the R's don't still think it is important that the Left like them. Never happen.
We can't run this country on Executive Orders. All I hear from the R's in Congress is we have to wait on tax reform, Obamacare, the Wall, and the few important items that put them in office. At least one R submitted a bill to eliminate the Education Department yesterday. It is one sentence, but that is one sentence more that the whole Congress has written so far. Poop or get off the pot.

The battle had just begun. Yo Brad, I hope your standards for the personage of womanhood is higher than what the left labels women as. Geeze, they are so into bodily functions and body parts. I raised girls to have some dignity, not act like life is one girls only slumber party. What is this? Show and tell? No wonder the Deplorables won. The looney left gives us a good name.

Ok Brad, I feel your pain and will give it a try: "But, but Mr. Trump, can't we let Brad win at least once? We are getting tired of winning."

"No! We are going to win and win and win."

Sorry Brad. At least I tried. Now, don't go all wobbly kneed on me. I need you to Resist! Stand firm and tighten your seat belt. The election process was playground hopscotch compared to the real epic battle Royale that has not even started yet.

Hey, you guys could not stop him and the R's could not stop him and my vote got cancelled out by an illegal alien. George Soros can't stop him either. He is a man possessed, I tell ya. He is like Mike Tyson out there, running around and biting ears off. And he is making the tolerate Progressives look like they belong in a freak show. I don't blame the Leftists for looking like total idiots stepping on their own dicks. Nay, it's all Trump's fault.

I hear you loud and clear, Brad. What can we do now? Trump is like a run away bull chomping on his nose ring and spitting out fire and pillars of angry smoke. God help us all! Holy crap, here comes the Pulverizer and his legions of Irredeemables. Run for your lives!!!

Gregory

Toes, I think eliminating the US Department of Education would be an interesting way for remove DeVos from the cabinet... in fact, she might even agree!

They don't actually educate any students and mostly serve to get in the way of state and local entities actually trying to teach. Yes, they distribute a Dakota Access pipeline worth of cash to everyone who can catch it but there's always strings attached that soak up a large amount of the cash. Carrying charges.

Probably not a snowflake's chance in hell for that to go though this year.

Regarding BC's desire to fire Trump, let's get together on that in November 2020. In the meantime, loyal Democrats should do their darnedest to not lose too many of their seats up for grabs in 2018... 25, a full 10 from Trump states. Ouch.

Bill Tozer

Rick Perry found out you can't elimate the Department of Energy. Said he was wrong when he ran on that platform and now sees they do some "important functions" in many areas. Ok, we will let that one slide. Keep an eye on them Mr. Rick from Texas. Oil's well.
Now, if Trump could fire the White House travel office and replace them with Melania's hot model friends and assorted European babes........oh my, I just thought bad things.

Don Bessee

BT- Perry found out that Energy has the nuke program, as to the rest of it, hasta la vista baby! No more global warming grants. ;-)

This Steve Bannon is a real nut case that believes in the apocalypse. He isalso cheif advisor to Trump. Here's a few goodies from Bannon

“There’s clearly a fifth column here in the United States,” Bannon warned in July 2016. “There’s rot at the center of the Judeo-Christian West,” he said in November 2015. “Secularism has sapped the strength of the Judeo-Christian West to defend its ideals,” he argued at the Vatican conference. The “aristocratic Washington class” and the media, he has claimed, are in league with the entire religion of Islam and an expansionist China to undermine Judeo-Christian America.....

Treaties must be torn up, enemies named, culture changed. Global conflagration, should it occur, would only prove the theory correct.

“What we are witnessing,” Bannon told The Washington Post last month, “is the birth of a new political order.”

My goodness.

Here;s more

“I’m a Leninist. Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal, too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”
- in conversation, 2013, quoted by The Daily Beast

“Let the grassroots turn on the hate because that’s the ONLY thing that will make them [the Republican party establishment] do their duty,”
- 2014 Breitbart internal email obtained by The Daily Beast

“We think of ourselves as virulently anti-establishment, particularly ‘anti-’ the permanent political class. We say Paul Ryan was grown in a petri dish at the Heritage Foundation.”
- 2016 interview quoted by the Washington Post

PE 11- The electoral profile of the Trump victory is unlike any for a republican and fits the bill for a new political order. Can you say blue wall? As to his observations of the rot in DC under 0, there is nothing to dispute. Muslim brotherhood annoyingly welcome in the administration, madam liar liar pantsuits on fire has muslim brotherhood princess as hand maiden, 0 abandoned all our traditional allies and handed Iran the shia crescent it had dreamed of for centuries and 150 billion bucks for nothing tangible.

PE 1101- You have only used that about a dozen times now, trite retreads are just sad for poor ol' PE. ;-)
