Ahhhh fresh kitty litter! So who is against the new green card rules introduced by Trump? No welfare, have a skill, speak the language and support yourself and family. That all sounds awfully basic and lets taxpayers off the hook v the current system that has 50% of them on govt assistance. ;-)

…..without any perceptible loss of interest by the discussants.

Lost interest weeks ago……Paul seems to have a memory deficit that causes him to cite the same poll numbers (or at least those within a tolerance range) on a nearly daily basis thinking that this will eventually alter reality to the state that he prefers.

Bill Tozer

1) Don : who is opposed? Di-Fi said Trump's immigration bill will NEVER pass the Senate.

2) Scenes, and perhaps Dr. Rebane. Not sure what to make of this. What the guy wrote that cost him his job seems like common knowledge to me. The fascist Left teaming up with the Islamofacists is plan as day....to me.

"Through the campaign, candidate Trump tapped into a deep vein of concern among many citizens that America is at risk and slipping away. Globalists and Islamists recognize that for their visions to succeed, America, both as an ideal and as a national and political identity, must be destroyed. … Islamists ally with cultural Marxists because, as far back as the 1980s, they properly assessed that the left has a strong chance of reducing Western civilization to its benefit.".

Both items 1& 2 go under the heading "Language, Borders, Culture".

I am of course totally against them and several people here should be as well since they have consistently delivered the message, "we are not against legal immigration just illegal immigrations."

Totally completely unnecessary action that will harm US businesses and economic productivity.

The idea that cutting legal immigration from 1 million per year (or .003 %) to 500,000 per year (or .0015%) will have any positive impact on employment is ludicrous.

re: BillT@2:51PM

Dunno. The political maneuvering in those organizations is rather opaque to anyone not directly involved. It's easy to invent scenarios (third or fourth level employee goes directly to the Big Boss after being warned not to, is fired by direct superior).

I'm not finding the memo anywhere so everything I'm reading is thirteenth hand. That's pretty common in the Era of the Newswarrior. Hopefully it was Top Secret so the NYT can be sure and publish a copy.

"The idea that cutting legal immigration from 1 million per year (or .003 %) to 500,000 per year (or .0015%) will have any positive impact on employment is ludicrous."

So what is the point of it if it has no effect?

BTW, 1 million is .003% of a really really big number.

Don Bessee

Is anyone surprised the eco warrior ducks the main issue @ 323? Expecting green card applicants to meet standards on a merit based system that puts the needs of the US is just sooo mean right?

It is economic suicide to give 50% of green card holders government assistance. We don't have a need for goat herders right now but we do need MD's. Its about the benefit to the country not about lifelong gifts to foreigners. Go read Teddy Kennedys arguments in 65' when they set up the chain immigrations fiasco then lets talk.

I would love to get you in a room full of black moms in say del passo heights, so you can tell them they are wrong that the flood of unskilled labor is taking their kids jobs. What a maroon.

It is all about what is best for US citizens and that's the kind of thing that lost you the election so keep it up. You should ask the po' ol' pollhead to brief you on how the speaking english issue polls. Real workers of both parties clearly understand this. ;-)

Speak English and have some salable skills. What a concept. Funny, Grandma and Grandpa on Mamma's side had too, and did. Happily. From the day the set food on U.S. soil, they never spoke Swedish again. Not even private. Grand Dad was in demand for the time. He developed and designed steam and air drills.
Paul. can you say the same for your forebears? (Some of us already know that answer)

1 million is closer to 0.3% of 330 million, not .003%

But what's being a factor of 100 off really mean, anyway. Just a couple of zeros.

Trump's rally is already a great watch. Three or four people wearing "Hillary for prison" shirts. And a full house no less. West Virginia sure likes Trump for bringing back jobs.

Rebane and Juvinall are non-entities. Their blogs feature the same half dozen or so posters and their influence goes no further than the usual suspects. The Tea Party and SOJ types who make up their primary readership will already support Miller based on ideological orientation alone, so what they and their posters have to say is really inconsequential. I would venture to guess that vast majority of rational undecided voters who might happen to run across those blogs would be grossed out at the juvenile rantings of a bunch of angry old white men. The Hodge camp should encourage voters to read those blogs to see what some of Miller’s supporters have to say.

I see a recall of a Gov. in West Virginia real soon. How dare that Gov. switch parties!!
OH the Progressives will be pissed.

That's one state the LIBS will never get back.

An overview of "single payer". Enjoy.

"“average Canadian family with two parents and two children with a household income of $127,814 will pay $12,057 for public health-care insurance this year.”"

“Services are being rationed. In our last report on wait times in Canda, we discovered that the average wait time from referral to treatment was 20 weeks."

"For all those tax dollars, there is still a long waiting list for a host of operations, both routine and urgent. Another Fraser Institute study recently revealed that 63,000 Canadians left the country in 2016 to seek medical assistance elsewhere — usually the U.S."

I'm sure "our" Progressives can do it a lot better.(which translates to pure devastation)

re: Walt@4:48PM

There's always those odd questions that float around.

Does having a single buyer drive down prices better than competition? why?

Should an individual receiving the worst health care receive equivalent quality care as someone who receives the best? why?

Plus...is US healthcare (not insurance, but the care part) part of a competitive market? why or why not?

re: Fish@4:32

That's what Gregory was pointing out. Obviously the issue with zeroes resides at the SBC.

re: Fish@4:28

Dunno why Mr. Koyote even cares. Of course it's a few people in a conversation plus some trash talk (plus maybe 4x or so lurkers). So what?

George Rebane

re Walt 448pm - when the performance stats on other countries' nationalized healthcare systems are posted, you can hear the progressive crickets up their decibel levels. Such numbers are tightly kept secrets by the lamestream outlets as they nudge the country toward socialism and beyond.

Steve Frisch

Here let me rephrase that because I was in a hurry between meeting.

The difference is between 1,000,000 or 3/10th 1% and 500,000 or half of that.

The reality is that people here for years have said for years "we are not against legal immigration" and now that Twittler is in power and they see an opportunity they are changing thier lizard skin.

Ha, at least I am admitting I made a mistake...now address the actual issue...it is insignificant bullshit to appease the anti-immigrant masses while working people continue to lose jobs because of structural changes to our economy and Trump ain't doing squat to address it because he's so busy lying about the Boy Scouts, Russia, and his penis size that he couldn't pass a bill to name a post office through Congress....which makes me kind of happy.

Don Bessee

Yet that being given @ 552 you still want unfettered illegal immigration to compete with citizens for your diminishing pool of jobs. Looks like you let a little too much truth out in that one eco warrior. ;-)

Don Bessee

I saw a lot of chatter in the news feeds about the trailer for Bruce Willis's redo of Death Wish so I found the trailer. OH YA, I totally get why the snowflakes are melting on twitter etc.

It looks to follow the exact set up as the original but this time its in the worlds largest shooting gallery Chicago! I hope snowflakes don't go the live showings, the cheering and laughing will send them fleeing before they turn into a puddle. ;-)

"The reality is that people here for years have said for years "we are not against legal immigration" and now that Twittler is in power and they see an opportunity they are changing their lizard skin."

I don't see the problem. It seems to me that restricting immigration to people with skills, atomic family members, and the odd bonafide refugee, is perfectly fine. It's what most (all?) other first world countries do. Try just up and moving to Australia sometime.

I can read a trend as well as anyone.

So what's the right amount of immigrants? I'm unclear on what the objection is.

Todd Juvinall

I say let's put a stop to all immigration for ten years. We need to assimilate those here already and readjust our priorities for labor. Trump did not gofar enough with this new law and so let's try this. I especially think we need to put a hold on Russians and others from that neck of thw oods. They are too sly and not trustworthy. So Putin, keep your people home for a while. Thanks.

"it is insignificant bullshit to appease the anti-immigrant masses "

Just looking at a Gallup poll from a year ago, and before all the Trumphate, shows 38% for decreased immigration, 38% for keeping it the same, 21% for more. That looks to trend for less to me, although you can argue that democracy is for chumps.

You can certainly make the case that we need moar and moar folks to improve the environment, the price of property, and to grow the economy to infinity, but I can't say that it's a strong one. As a side note, a bit more in the way of integration and a bit less in the way of enclaves might not be a bad thing, but no doubt there is something evil in that thought also.

Oh well, we'll see what happens. Maybe the ACLU will find something unconstitutional about immigration requirements, or at least the changing of same.

What I find most funny about these arguments is that the real angry old white guys become obvious. Both Mr Frisch and Mr Paul would be better off taking a bit of a breather, it can't be doing your blood pressure much good.

Hate to break it to you guys but there is already a language test for citizenship, immigrants (except in some special circumstances) can't collect "welfare" and there is a requirement that they be able to support themselves.

Trump is the master of giving you something you already have and making it look shiny and new.

George Rebane

We notice that including our national interest to legally import skillful people as part of our immigration reform is now suddenly deemed to have become equivalent to being against legal immigration. Only progressives are comfortable with that kind of logic.

No one ever said that legal immigration has to implement a 'Y'all come' policy. No other nation is that stupid.

Oh StevieF,, California tried Prop 187 to cut off all the freebies to illegals and we voted it in. And then a Judge tossed it as UNconstitutional. He said we had to pay for all those things. Food, medical, housing, schooling etc. So it may be on the books as you say, but the reality it is not enforced. We have to follow the law as you say. So let's do it!

The jumping Rastafarian frogs of Calaveras County

One of the targeted farms, where more than 6,000 plants were seized, is affiliated with the same Rastafarian Church linked to a Yuba County pot farm that on Tuesday was the scene of a police shootout. A farmworker there shot two deputies after running into a nearby home and later was found dead inside.

The Calaveras County sheriff's office made five arrests without incident at the farm in Heiser Canyon on Wednesday, DiBasilio said. The Calaveras farm was targeted before Tuesday's shooting.

Heidi Lepp, the leader of Sugarleaf Rastafarian Church, said the Heiser Canyon farm is part of her network of churches, which use marijuana as their sacrament. She claims the farms that grow pot for the church have a religious exemption allowing such cultivation, but state law does not provide such exceptions.
DiBasilio said the Heiser Canyon farm was an illegal grow. Medical marijuana has been legal in California for two decades and he said last year the farm tried to get a license to allow it to grow pot but was turned down.

DiBasilio said Lepp called the sheriff's office on Wednesday and said the farm was affiliated with her church and could not be raided. The workers arrested at the farm said they did not know who they were working for, he said.

Lepp's husband, Charles Lepp, said they have no ownership of the property.

This will surely warm the heart of the Putin cuddlers that reside on this blog.

" "I have had it," Trump said. "I have been making these calls all day, and this is the most unpleasant call all day."

"Putin was a pleasant call," Trump said later in the conversation. "This is ridiculous."

Quotes from the conversation Trump had with Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.

Just thought I'd share.

Todd Juvinall

Thanks, great call. Since Putin has a huge number of ICBM's and nukes it seems to me we need a good relationship with him and his country. What do you say, Paul Emery?

Sadly thought the call was hacked by a "deep state scumbag" to try and undermine Trump. But it has backfired and made Trump a hero.

As witnessed in these pages, some prominent liberal commenters still contest Trump's use of third-party purloined and published Democrat emails outing their operating perfidy in last year's election. However, today their outrage seems to be well controlled when enthusiastically citing the clearly feloniously acquired and released transcripts of calls between our president and world leaders. The rest of us have come to know this as the 'self-consistent' and satisfying world in which progressives enjoy their succor and comfort.

Paul Emery

I learned from you guys George that's there's no ethical problem using stolen material to reveal deception and lying from our elected officials.

re: The Paul@10:02AM

Admittedly, one difference is that the DNC leaks are by some unknown hackers or by the GRU (which I strongly suspect you had never even heard of before the current cold civil war). The Trump leaks are from active duty intelligence officers and some currently employed moles from the Obama administration.

No difference here, nothing to be seen. lol.

Paul Emery

Do you condone the release of the Pentagon Papers by Daniel Ellsberg or the revelations by Deep Throat in the Watergate affair ?

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery, you have it backasswards as usual. The country is used to you fake media types releasing our secrets and private conversations illegally. We learned from you.

Paul. Nixon had nothing on "O". "O"and Co. made Watergate look like a grade school prank.
Yet no bitch from you all those years.

Hummm.. "MAD" Max is at it again.
Now this is news to me.
" and when we finish with Trump we have to go after Putin,” Waters said,"

You LIBS sure know how to pick'm.

George Rebane

PaulE 1002am - The relevance of your response goes begging since the two 'leaks' could not be more different in every dimension. For openers, the illegal release of the Trump transcripts served to reveal NO "deception and lying from our elected officials", nor anything else that would be profitably used by the electorate of a sovereign nation-state conducting its foreign affairs in prudent confidence. However, the release by a criminal mole has now alerted foreign heads of state that they can no longer have confidential discussions with a US President. It appears that recognizing this damage to national security and facile international relations is a nuance lost on the people you so ably represent in these pages.

Paul Emery

The transcripts did reveal that Trump was lying to the American people about the importance of building a wall. Here's from the transcripts

"President Trump told Mexico's president that a proposed border wall between the two countries was "the least important thing we are talking about," according to a transcript of the January call published by the Washington Post on Thursday.

"We're building the wall," Trump said in February. "In fact it's going to start very soon."

During the call with Peña Nieto, held just a week after Trump took office, the new president told the Mexican leader to stop saying Mexico would never pay for the wall.

The wall had been a signature issue for the Trump campaign which insisted that Mexico would pay for it.

First, 12 Quatloos say "bun bun" is that reality challenged ancient angry white guy retired teacher, Doug Keachie. There's something to the random rhythms of his sentence construction.

George, Paul thinks the leaked DNC emails shouldn't be repeated 'cause it's wrong to steal. It's part of the Russian collusion story he can't let go of. And yes, the only reason for leaking transcripts of Trump's confidential calls to other leaders is to embarrass Trump and make it more difficult for him to speak with anybody off the record.

George Rebane

PaulE 1053am - "the least important thing we are talking about" is all you can do??! That is the most lame stretch I've seen from you to buttress one of your assertions. Anyone with an ounce of logic sees that this statement could be entirely true in the context of the importance of other topics discussed, and that without diminishing anything from our intent to reduce border porosity (which project has already started). Amazing!

Trump asked the Mexico President to lie to the press to save his butt. That an indisputable fact. Trump promised to the American people that Mexico would pay for the wall. Mexico said no-never.

"President Trump made building a wall along the southern U.S. border and forcing Mexico to pay for it core pledges of his campaign.

But in his first White House call with Mexico’s president, Trump described his vow to charge Mexico as a growing political problem, pressuring the Mexican leader to stop saying publicly that his government would never pay.

“You cannot say that to the press,” Trump said repeatedly, according to a transcript of the Jan. 27 call obtained by The Washington Post. Trump made clear that he realized the funding would have to come from other sources but threatened to cut off contact if Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto continued to make defiant statements.

The funding “will work out in the formula somehow,” Trump said, adding later that “it will come out in the wash, and that is okay.” But “if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that.”

Not .003%... but I get it... that just means "tiny" to you.

Funny, but 0.03% is the tiny percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere in the late 19th century, which has skyrocketed an additional 0.01% in the century since then.

re: GeorgeRebane@10:59AM

The truth is that Trump could stand on his two hind legs and read the telephone book out loud and these guys would be outraged. There's scarcely any point in the argument.

It isn't like anyone here has had their everyday life change much, aside from the current stock market bubble perhaps.

The cold civil war is basically a religious conflict, and Trump is quite adept at poking the Green Libertarian catechism. Policy issues like healthcare will muddle along, it was a mess before and will likely be a mess afterwards.

But, when you believe that Christianity is bad and inferior to other religions, Western Civilization is evil, and that people worldwide should move into the First World to atone for our sins...and Team Trump appears to believe the opposite...there's really no place for compromise. Just look how upset some commenters are at the mere concept that the numbers of immigrants is either reduced or subjected to QA. The emotional reaction shows a strong belief system that should be taken seriously.

The cold civil war is basically a religious conflict, and Trump is quite adept at poking the Green Libertarian catechism. Policy issues like healthcare will muddle along, it was a mess before and will likely be a mess afterwards.

The fact that almost no one here can do that, or for that matter EVER admit when they are wrong, just demonstrates the low level of character and confidence most possess.

Todd you are not even smart enough to come up with an original insult :)

So somebody called "Scenes From The Apocalypse" is complaining about long names? But at least it's not hyphenated.

PaulE 1111am - and what is wrong for Trump to ask Nieto to cooperate in coming to a rapprochement on how the 'wall' will be funded? People with a 3-digit IQ knew last year that payment for the wall would be a complex affair with a lot of politically motivated definitions in play of what amounts/credits from whom to whom would be transfered under what conditions - after all, everybody would have to save face. Only the densest of the dense interpreted Trump to expect a check from Mexico for the full amount when the wall was completed. But then again, that is how the progressive elites judge their constituents to be, and that is the message they have been pounding into the heads of their snuffies ever since.

The fact that almost no one here can do that, or for that matter EVER admit when they are wrong, just demonstrates the low level of character and confidence most possess.

You're projecting Steve......

Maxine Waters is a Tyler Perry character come to life...... I guess Putin should be impeached for attacking Korea and all!

I assume you voted for Bush twice. Does that mean you are assuming responsibility for the war in Iraq that your guy promoted and lied to the American people about? Also the negligence that led to 9/11 and the economic crash. All those happened under the watch of your guy Bush. At least I only made one mistake.

BDS relapse Paul? Bush was still better than anyone the LIBS had, OR have. Including Clinton. Bush signed every Bill the LIBS put on his desk. You have no bitch.

Punchy still driving that hacking theory? It's impossible to know who done it. Just ask the FBI.

Dem news: Well, at least they are looking for work.

Remember when the local tourist board came up with "Come to Nevada County on vacation, leave on probation"? Well, that was just fakenews.

So you are assuming responsibility and support for Bush's War in Iraq Walt?

So you are assuming responsibility and support for Bush's War in Iraq Walt?

So you are assuming responsibility and support for Bush's War Obamas continuation of the Iraq War Paul?

You really don't think these arguments through do you?

Bill Tozer

Punchy @1:48 pm

Punch @ 1:59 pm

"So you are assuming...."

Whole lot of assuming going on. Punchy, That is always the place where you go off the rails. At least you quit saying, "I thought......". That got you in trouble everytime. You are in fine form today. No reply to Dr. Rebane's 12:49? I assume he was addressing you.

He did largely pull of out out of Iraq according to the Bush timetable Fish. I believe Bush set the withdrawal date to be 2011. This is pretty good documentation for that statement.

"Iraq and U.S. agree that all U.S. forces will withdraw "no later than December 31, 2011." On November 17, 2008, US and Iraqi officials signed a Security Agreement, often referred to as a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), stating that "All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011." The agreement also called for all U.S. combat forces to withdraw from Iraqi cities "no later than June 30, 2009." [U.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement, 11/17/08]"

Punchy....we still conduct combat operations in Iraq!

"In the summer of 2014 President Obama announced the return of U.S. Forces to Iraq, but only in the form of aerial support, in an effort to halt the advance of ISIS forces, render humanitarian aid to stranded refugees and stabilize the political situation.[329] On 14 August 2014, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki succumbed to pressure at home and abroad to step down. This paved the way for Haidar al-Abadi to take over On 19 August 2014. In what was claimed to be revenge for the aerial bombing ordered by President Obama, ISIS, which by this time had changed their name to the Islamic State, beheaded an American journalist, James Foley, who had been kidnapped two years previously. Despite U.S. bombings and breakthroughs on the political front, Iraq remained in chaos with the Islamic State consolidating its gains, and sectarian violence continuing unabated. On 22 August 2014, suspected Shia militants opened fire on a Sunni mosque during Friday prayers, killing 70 worshippers. Separately, Iraqi forces in helicopters killed 30 Sunni fighters in the town of Dhuluiya.[330] A day later, apparently in retaliation for the attack on the mosque, three bombings across Iraq killed 35 people.[331]

His buddies probably told him to lighten up and go get himself a piece of #$%$ And there you have it.

For the interested reader, Obama did not have to implement anything that Bush2 had planned for after he was out of office. Obama implemented his own policies, and is therefore responsible for them to the same extent as any president before him.

Quite obviously your fault Paul....no point denying it.

If Donald Trump Targets Journalists, Thank Obama
