Today’s headline again corroborates what those who have paid attention have known for some years now. The latest WSJ/NBC poll out today reports the stark differences between the country’s Right and Left as represented by their respective Republican and Democrat party affiliations. The important part here is that the “WSJ/NBC News survey indicates a wide (and widening) split on cultural, economic issues.” The best I can tell is that the only ones who have been in denial for years, and refuse to acknowledge this divide are the lightly read local lefties, which even includes their leading lights. Limiting your input to the offerings and interpretations of DailyKos, HuffPo, CNN, MSNBC, … leaves a pretty big hole in a person’s understanding of what’s happening now.
The data-filled 6sep17 WSJ report begins with –
Divisions in America reach far beyond Washington into the nation’s culture, economy and social fabric, and the polarization began long before the rise of President Donald Trump, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey of social trends has found. … The findings help explain why political divisions are now especially hard to bridge. People who identify with either party increasingly disagree not just on policy; they inhabit separate worlds of differing social and cultural values and even see their economic outlook through a partisan lens. (emphasis mine)
Among the polls highlights are the drastic drop since Eisenhower of the opposite party’s support of the recently elected president. That percentage has dropped from Eisenhower’s 60% to 8% for Trump. The only reversals in the downtrend were for Bush1 and Bush2.
A really significant change of attitudes in how confident Americans are that their children will have better lives than they have. From August 2010 to August 2017 the Dems’ confidence fell from about 42% to 25%, and the Repubs’ confidence rose sharply from 12% to 48%. You need to read the article to get the significance of this latest survey on the national attitudes.
And today most of us see only the other party as doing all the bad things for/to the country. Here’s part of local leftie Ms Nancy Eubanks’ outrage in her 6sep17 letter to The Union.
After Trump's outrageous news conference in the aftermath of Charlottesville, many of you "say" you are against racism and bigotry, that you disavow White Supremacy and Neo-Nazi groups and what they stand for. But actions speak loader than words. You could do several things to show you really can put country above party. Stop voter suppression laws that disenfranchise minority groups. Support a new Voter Rights Act. Stop gerrymandering districts to discriminate against minority voters. In addition, take actions to show you won't compromise principles of openness and fairness. Pass a law requiring all presidents to disclose their income taxes. Require all presidents to divest themselves of any business interest so that presidents can't have any conflicts of interest. Take away the lease on the Trump Hotel in Washington D.C. so Trump can't continue to profit from that enterprise.
You can’t make this stuff up; the schism is really real.
Eubanks refuses to tell the readers she is a Democrat Central Committee member and activist. Maybe she knows she comes across unhinged and does not want to taint her party? LOL!
We have seen this divide grow and grow. The left education, the bureaucracy, media and Hollywood have dubbed down the generations while the "right" was out creating jobs and working 60 hour weeks. The takers of society are given the megaphone to yell across the land how those in opposition are the devils and after many years they have succeeded in an almost equal division of ideology.
Paul Emery is a perfect example of this. He does so much obfuscation and twisting of words and meaning that a reader has no clue what he is saying or what the truth is. And the left has no sense of humor either. The FUE has a story about the "fake news" forum last night. He uses a "report" from Reinette Senum to describe the meeting and then her early exit is disgust. No hunmor from her or him but only derision. Hell the NC Scooper made fun of me and I certainly ws honored. Senum though doesn't get it at all. After her "cops are all assissins" diatribe, she became anathema to rational people on the right. But loved by the left.

Tom Sullivan at KFBK 1530AM will be discussing the great divide on the 3rd hour today the 6th of Sep 2017, 1400 to 1500. If you missed it he has POD casts via iHeart Radio. Webpage is TomSullivan.com
Another indication the divide is coming more evident as it comes to the attention of national commentator and their listeners.

In FACT, according to Politifact, 60% of statements on Fox are rated "mostly false, false, or pants on fire." That same figure for one of your sources, NBC is 43% false or worse. For CNN the mostly false or worse rating was only 27%. So whose version of the facts seems to be more accurate?

That goes for MSNBC,CNN and most of Lefty news as well. They did a fine job of fellating
"O" and the Progressives for eight years. Even their slanted polls didn't help Hillary win. The days of the sucker vote is over. "OH the polls say this guy is the leader. He;s the one I want to vote for. Who wants to vote for the loser?" LIBS my take that bait. They can't think for themselves.

Regarding Politifact...
How do they score the networks?
"The scorecards measure statements made by a pundit or a host or paid contributor on a particular network. They do not include statements made by elected leaders, declared candidates or party officials."
So, CNN with Obama on a frequent play loop saying "If you like your plan you can keep your plan", got a pass. Fox News which, as a channel, is mostly opinion, gets judged as liar liar when they contradicted the President, by their people who come to the judgment exercise with their own set of biases.
Journalists, in print or video, are not well-equipped to be "fact-checkers" especially when it's one of their sacred cows being gored.

robertc 357pm - Ah, but there you err significantly. I and other readers here do keep track of your favorite sites to see what the progressives are dishing out. (In fact, it's almost impossible to avoid the lamestream media.) It is your side that doesn't peek over the fence. For what other reason can there be when you constantly err so badly about the national mood, thinking that ideas familiar to half the country are forged and languish only here in the foothills on RR? It is easy to demonstrate (even from these comment streams) that you and yours are some of the most poorly read on history, international affairs, national mood, human behavior, and most disastrously on science. But other than that, you all are right on top of it.

Here's a fact the Trumplets is meeting with the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow. Lots of questions, lots of fun.
WASHINGTON — Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, is set to meet with Senate Judiciary Committee investigators behind closed doors on Thursday to answer questions about his June 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer, committee officials said.
Committee aides said the interview, Mr. Trump’s first with congressional investigators, will be transcribed and could last for much of the day. It will largely focus on the meeting in Trump Tower, which appears to have been set up to deliver harmful information about Hillary Clinton to the Trump campaign, according to emails disclosed in June.

Ok Cross.
I read the Wa Compost, a formerly great paper, for their nature stuff, like the gorillas some Dr.Livingston found in the Lost Valley of the Mist in deepest darkest Africa, over the Forbidden Mountain. Cool stuff. At least we know what to expect from MSMBC and the Huff-n-Puff Post. The former delivers on salivating infomercials delivered as red humus to their frenzied faithful, and the latter has gone full blown crazy.
I will take what I learned from my Irredeemable Clinger sites against what you have learned by reading and watching your Trump Derangement Syndrome sites.
For example, it you believe that extreme weather events occur because of man made Climate Change, I would say you are doing a rather poor job controling the man made extreme weather stuff, not to mention the non-manmade shenanigans of Mother Nature. Boy, she get temperamental at times. Ok, bad example. Hmmm.

"So whose version of the facts seems to be more accurate?"
-"Robert Cross" 3:57PM
Why, my version of the facts, of course. I'm well read in history and philosophy and read four newspapers regularly... the 'frisco Chronicle, SacBee, The Union and the WSJ which is particularly enjoyed as it's at least written at a 12th grade level, unlike the Chronicle, SacBee and The Union. I also listen to NPR, the BBC Worldservice broadcast and, often Limbaugh but more often Tom Sullivan. Then there's science which none of the periodicals have any business writing about especially when the science in question is as politically charged as climate and meteorology has become. When the Pellines of the world talk about climate or science "deniers", substituting "heretic" for denier reveals the intent and makes their thoughts on the matter clear.
I never voted for Ronald Reagan, but when he said "You have to consider the source" he was never more spot on.
In short, "Robert Cross", every sniping pronouncement of yours has fallen short of truth. Just another idiot parroting his party line.

My take on Punchy isn't that he was sad Hillary lost... I think he voted Gary Johnson because he saw the two former governors on the LIB ticket as being closer to his own politics than the kleptocratic Hillary ever was... but what Paul was really looking forward to is the GOP being utterly destroyed, a crushing of his cultural foes... only to wake up Novermber the 9th with not only the designated (by Podesta) Pied Piper candidate pushed by the Clinton campaign to lead the GOP astray having won, but waking up to the fact that over the Obama years, the Democratic Party had been hemorrhaging offices across the country for the past eight plus years.

While I cannot bring myself to read the Eubank's Letter to the Editor, I will trust that I saw enough reading her prose on Dr. Rebanes's post.
"You could do several things to show you really can put country above party. Stop voter suppression laws that disenfranchise minority groups. Support a new Voter Rights Act. Stop gerrymandering districts........". Hmmm. Gerrymandering districts? You mean like Obama's stated post-presidency life's mission is to gerrymander districts? I thought so.
Oh my. Ms. Nutcy Eubanks is not going to like this one bit. They really hate it when things don't go the way they want them to. Makes them really wig out. Big time bug eyes popping out.
"The judges castigated U.S. District Court Judge Nelva Gonzalez Ramos for exceeding the scope of a previous ruling instructing her to assess whether or not SB5 cured problems with SB14, another voter ID measure passed in Texas in 2011. Ramos ruled the original measure was an effort to discriminate based on basis and that SB5 didn’t solve the problem."
“The district court went beyond the scope of the mandate on remand,” Smith and Elrod wrote. “Simply put, whether SB 5 should be enjoined — as opposed to whether it remedies SB 14’s ills — was not an issue before the district court on remand.”
http://thefederalistpapers.org/us/5th-circuit-texas-voter-id?utm_source=FBLC&utm_medium=FB&utm_campaign=LC
And what exactly is Ms. Eubanks doing to show us she is putting country ahead Party? I thought so. Never get tired of winning.

Welcome to the Great Divide
Posted by: Bill Tozer | 06 September 2017 at 09:38 PM
The Great Divide: I do wonder about poeople who are offended at the drop of a hat. Like some kind of arrested development at an early age. All emotions and no frontal lobe.
Upright: “Democrats love to say that Trump is violating constitutional norms. Well, Obama violated them when he unilaterally implemented DAPA and DACA. The Supreme Court threw out DAPA and — if Gorsuch had been on the court — it probably would have quashed DACA too. By winding down DACA — slowly — and asking Congress to find a legislative fix, Trump is returning us to a constitutional norm. That liberal congressmen are scandalized by being asked to fulfill their constitutional duties tells you more about the expediency of contemporary liberalism than it does about Trump.” —Jonah Goldberg
Confessions: “DACA was [an] executive order. … It is [on shaky legal ground]. That’s why we need to pass a law, and we should do it.” —Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)
Braying Jenny: “To say nothing of his use of the word illegal aliens, which is offensive to a lot of people, and not correct.” —NBC’s Andrea Mitchell’s retort to the DACA announcement (The term “illegal alien” is exactly the correct legal term, and it’s only “offensive” because leftists politicized it.)
Alpha Jackass: “The organizing and activating of these extremists, these white supremacists, really could have a detrimental effect on the entire culture of New Hampshire.” —Ray Buckley, chairman of the New Hampshire Democrat Party, on a new voter registration effort aimed at working class New Hampshirites
Pompous Jackass: “When I think about how crime’s gone down for four years, graduation rates up, test scores are up, more jobs than ever in our history — I think, ‘Wow, just that quick profile, any candidate anywhere would want it.’ You’d assume they’d be having parades out in the streets. But that’s not the time in history that we’re living in.” —Mayor Bill de Blasio, who in the same interview bemoaned, “I think Trump is much more than a New Yorker. Trump is a spoiled brat.”
And last… “By the way, does the statue of Union Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman qualify for removal? He once explained his reluctance to enlist former slaves, writing, ‘I am honest in my belief that it is not fair to our men to count negroes as equals … [but] is not a negro as good as a white man to stop a bullet?’ It’s difficult to determine where this purging of the nation’s history should end.” —Walter Williams

Maybe you tired old fuckers missed the news about Trump blowing off the GOP today to support Pelosi and Schumer and the Democrat strategy, then flying to North Dakota to give true love to the Democrat Senator Heitkamp. That is the way to build the GOP coalition for "winning" and its all part of Trump's brilliant plan! A trillion dollars now needed for record hurricane damages caused in large part by the carbon emission industry. Which these very same conservatives have subsidized over so many years! Oh, and don't you forget guys, M.U.E.L.L.E.R (pronounced MULLER) is coming for Team Trump, he and all of his 36 all star prosecutors are a comin' Donnie and will be sweet to watch close friend Paul Manafort and loyal "Lock Him Up" Flynn sing like canaries. Both Lenin and Mao considered a required qualification for party and government leadership to be the renunciation of material goods and gain. All collectivist ideologies, based on the broad practice of altruism, see private property and its facile acquisition as the mortal sins of political leaders. The more such property a person has, and the more expert he is in acquiring same, the more unqualified he is for public service. And then we come to putting all this into practice - both now and then.
