So Fish I contend that all guns and firearms be registered to an owner so gun accidents that involve children and firearms can be traced to the negligent owner of the firearms who would be charged with child neglect or whatever is appropriate.
I see Paul E ran off the rails yesterday, sorry I couldn't make it. A not too recent factoid about 1300 "kids" being killed by gunfire got morphed quickly into many different claims. About kids finding guns laying around the house and taking them to school, and who to blame for it.
Most of the kids (generally defined as someone below the age of 18) shooting or being shot are concentrated in places like Chicago (aka Chiraq) and it's gang activity that's handing them the guns because it's likely the shooter would be tried as a juvenile and out of prison soon even if someone died... and that was also true when the gangs were run by Al Capone and the drug was alcohol.
The St.Valentine's day massacre shocked the country into blaming the gun nearly a century ago when seven were killed at the same time... and the gun laws we've put in place as a result have arguably made things worse. Seven dead in Chicago is a slow weekend.
There is no "common sense" law just around the corner that will stop senseless violence. All the "common sense" laws (twenty thousand is one counting) to date are why we're up to our ass in victims and funerals.
While the kneelers were taking the knee last weekend, 40 black men and women were shot in Chicago alone....by blacks....not cops. That is where ground zero for gun violence resides.
1300 kids Gregory no matter how you finesse are killed by guns every year. Here's the complete report researched by Pediatrics Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Everyone complains about the weather but no one does anything about it. That's also true about gerrymandering, and as long as boundaries have to be drawn in a political process there will be someone fiddling with the details for an edge in the next election.
There will also always be a political process to set the boundaries.
I am surprised that Paul Emery could care less about the millions of children dead from malaria in Africa because the left was able to get DDT out of the place. Shame on you.
BillT 1220pm - Mr Tozer, as we both know, the only black lives that matter to liberals are those taken by whites, and it doesn't matter under what circumstances the blacks die - legitimate or illegitimate. Otherwise black lives really don't matter to the liberal blacks or whites, especially in the Dem controlled urban areas.
Now, you read that document and share with us a law or regulatory scheme that can be put into place that would reduce the problems leading to those deaths. Something that has not been tried before.
re PaulE 1221pm - The only rationale behind the concern for the 1300 "children" dying from gunshots is that it is the most convenient heart-strings argument for another step toward complete confiscation of guns which must be done in the same manner that frogs are boiled slowly. The real finessing is done by liberals refusing to discuss the broad ownership of guns in the hands of citizens of the nation that is the world's white hat hegemon - 'Look, Germany (or any other country of choice) doesn't let people keep guns and they are free.' doesn't wash.
If saving lives really mattered to them, there are a lot of other low-hanging-fruit approaches that would save many many more childrens' lives around the world.
Does that mean that we should ignore the deaths of 1300 children each year due to guns and regard them as inevitable or should we try to do something? What in your view should that "something " be?

Today on Uncle Punch-Es Seemingly Endless Question Hour we got nothing new so we are just going to rerun yesterdays episode! If phone numbers are shown during the show....please don't call.
Why don't you move to Chicago and set up shop on the line between MS13 and the bloods and preach your gun sermons. I am sure the po' ol' party parrot official guilt trip lines will convince them to turn in their guns. HAHAHAHAHAHA! ;-)
Paul Emery why are you not concerned about the millions of children dead from malaria after you libs stopped its use? Shame on you. Using liberal logic this must mean you are a racist.
PaulE 141pm - Before passing another spate of ineffective gun laws and regs, start enforcing the ones already on the books. Wanna save kids lives, enforce existing gun laws in Dem administered cities like St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, ... https://www.thetrace.org/2017/07/gun-homicide-rates-baltimore-st-lous-detroit/
When you got that under control, and the problem still exists, then let's take a look at new burdens with which we can saddle law abiding gun owners.
re fish 152pm - It sure looks like Price was hounded out of office by the lamestream. Does anyone have any evidence that Price did anything wrong, especially after agreeing to pay for his chartered flights, since all of his travels were pre-approved by internal HHS legal watchdogs? Absent such evidence, he is just the latest victim of the Left's resist Trump movement.
Well done Politico Without affective journalism we maybe wouldn't have known about this taxpayer abuser and hypocrite Of course he was fired by Trump no matter what he says There's more to come standby
When will the corruption of the fossil fuel mafia and their nit wit goons, the Trump family, end? Before or after the country is bankrupt? Except, of course, all those who will make millions off Trump's tax plan. He himself will save $750,000,000 in taxes over the next 10 years if the bill passes. Tax cuts for the wealthy, who won't even notice the difference and don't need it anyway, with no viable way to pay for them equals more national debt, equals more tax dollars to pay the interest on that debt, equals fewer benefits accruing to the majority of taxpayers for their tax dollars, equals more profit for the defense industry when those tax cuts are coupled with increased military spending, equals insanity.

Forget it Todd. I'm not falling for the oldest trick in debating the old bait and switch. The topic I introduced is children's gun deaths and if you don't want to talk about that then off you go.

Ane we are even paying when 'advisors' go on vacation, not to mention pay golf.
For the same reason that the Secret Service rolled a fleet of 8 rotary minigun equipped GMC Yukons and closed off a big chunk of Georgetown when Michelle O wanted to play at going to the local farmers market. The difference is Tom Price is a private citizen again....the Obamas kept taking expensive trips on the taxpayers dime!
PaulE 344pm - does it seem that the only conversation about "children's gun deaths" you want to have is the one-sided one in which you respond to no one who attempts to engage in any other way than that of the ever-compliant, ante-bellum South, 'Yassah, yassah, we sho do need mo gun laws, and then them chilluns gon'be awright, yassah!' ??
PS. Still wanna talk about gun laws, or have we found you a new game of dodge ball?
PaulE 359pm - Yes Paul, the Negro slaves in the old South to be exact. I did my best (recalling our recent viewing of 'Blazing Saddles'). Thought that would touch a button or two on your 'scan for racists' system ;-)

To answer an earlier question George.....Price publicly hammered Nancy Pelosi pretty hard over her continued use of the executive fleet out of Andrews (Google Nancys aviation bar tab if you want to see taxpayer abuse writ democrat.....also notice that little Bobby didn't raise a fuss over any democrat malfeasance) so it looked really bad for him to be caught with his hand in the cookie jar so blatantly.
Keep posting Paul Emery. You repeat your questions and change the topics at your pleasure. Then when pressed you run away like a scared rabbit. Back down the hole. Goodness, you are so liberally predictable. And even when I mimicked you you could not stand yourself. What a hoot!
Price was abusing the office and after all the reporting I was glad to see Trump clean him out. He really did not usher the TrumpCare or use his "Directors" discretion to masticate the Ocare debacle. Adios Jim!
The issue behind that cultural appropriation is that it did accurately describe the tactic you were using. Unfortunately, George performed a forfeit by mocking you in an Amos and Andy voice.
In 2014, Holder, while attorney general, boarded a government-owned Gulfstream and flew to the Belmont Stakes Thoroughbred horse race in New York with his daughters, their boyfriends and two security officers.
Well, it did get you skipped to the next groove, Paul. All of a sudden you have something else to talk about than those kids you really don't care about.
I lost an uncle to a gun accident Gregory. He was my mothers brother and died when he was 13 playing with a gun he found in a ditch. Don't say I don't care about the kids. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Amos and Andy? They are replaying those on TV I heard. And I recall in 2008 that Hillary did an impression of a black at a gathering of blacks and was lauded. Did you uncle's folks get prosecuted, Paul Emery for the death?
I did to Paul, and it was NO ACCIDENT. A criminal shot my Uncle with his own gun. My Uncle was a cop So pardon me if I don't see a problem with cops offing a few thugs here or there.
So who didn't tell him not to play with guns? At 13 I knew how to safely handle a firearm. So who is really to blame? Can't blame the gun.(but you will try) The guy that lost it? The goon that through it out the car window? Or the person that didn't teach their kid right?
My own kids learned at 7 or 8 what a gun was, and not to mess with them. Now they can shoot better than me.(almost)
An uncle who died when, Paul? 1910? Long before you were born? Playing with a gun he found in a ditch?
About that time a very young uncle of mine died as a result of a routine tonsillectomy. Minor and routine surgery my ass, one of the reasons I never had one despite my tonsils being in tatters from repeated infections... my mom didn't believe in them.
Family stories notwithstanding, I don't think you care about the kids you're using as props here any more than anyone else here, Paul. If you did you would have discussed the issues not just thrown out 1300 over and over.
It sounds like the po' ol' fakenewsmans's uncle was in need of a gun safety class. Gun in a ditch eh' sounds like a criminal dumped the gun your unwise uncle became a statistic with. Walt is right about early gun safety. I first learned gun safety around 7 or 8 and went on to target shooting and taught some specialized small arms in the military to sign qualification cards as an additional duty. There is one final point that will always come up and that is you can not fix stupid in some people and you never will. Like the lady with a baby in the truck running late on 49 who recently cause a big wreck by passing in the turn lane repeatedly. Anything that has the human X factor in the mix will always have errors in the mix, even if its only a tiny part of a percent.
There was a story last week about a kid who btought a gun into a kindergarten it went off twice and injured two kids Well that's what prompted me to discuss this Any problem with that ?
So you go all through the compost heap to get to that?
Would it be too damned much to ask to lead off with that?
Guess not. Just come out bitching... OK,, so they were injured.
NOT killed like with your first bleeding heart crap.
I'm pretty damned sure they know where the gun came from. So much for the "need" for another gun law. Nice try Paul.
Now here is how you teach the young'ns about SEX Paul,, " It's bad. It's nasty! It will make you go blind!! Class dismissed".
Well guys we can at least be glad the stench of putrid Russian dressing is starting to fade on the po' ol' fakenewsman now that its all been debunked. ;-)
Here is another one for the po' ol' fakenewsman to ignore; Optimism for small and large manufactures is at a 20 year high averaging 90.87 this year. Last year it averaged 59.77. ;-)
Good to see Paul posting here again. He clearly shows the classic example of left wing idiocy. 1300 'children' dead from gun shot wounds. What to do? First of all he wilfully ignores the details involving most of the situations of these tragedies by simply calling it 'finesse'. He supplies 2 examples (in one example no one is killed) and neither example would have been stopped by any sort of new law he can come up with. And since he is mocked for his lack of reasoning, he offers up the classic left-wing line of defence that since we don't agree with him about how to solve the problem, we must not care about it.
Paul claims he was in the military but clearly has no understanding of fire arms. They don't just 'go off twice' Paul. Somebody pulled the trigger twice.
Look Paul, if you want to reduce the number of folks 17 and under being killed by fire arms the first thing you do is study the issue by looking at the facts of the matter. It's not 'finesse' - it's doing the hard work of looking at all of the different situations and going after the main causes. I'm sorry your uncle was killed, but clearly this shouldn't cloud your brain so badly you can't come up with rational preventative measures. The NRA has gun safety information for kids that they aren't allowed to bring to schools. But clearly that doesn't stop kids from bringing guns to school. My money says that home life for the child involved is way dysfunctional and there is almost certainly drug use going on in that house.
from the report that Paul cited - "Fifty-three percent of these were homicides (n = 693), 38% were suicides (n = 493), and 6% were unintentional firearm deaths (n = 82); the remaining 3% were due to legal intervention (n = 9) and deaths of undetermined intent (n = 19)."
So it looks like Paul is sooooo worried about children being shot dead, he wants to pass laws that might have to do with a whopping 6% of the total.
What a complete phoney.
"It's not 'finesse' - it's doing the hard work of looking at all of the different situations and going after the main causes."
You noticed that dodge, did you?
Paul's solution to the problem is to wave a magic wand and make a list of the serial numbers of all, what, 200 million guns in the US and the current owners, not to keep the guns out of the hands of kids but to enable the cops to find them after the fact to charge someone with some sort of negligence. He may think he wasn't waving a magic wand but he obviously did not give any thought as to what it would take to create a usable registration list and the number of folks who would have had no criminal a act or record until they chose to not register their gun(s) in defiance of Paul and Company.
Taking the 6% being unintentional, and maybe 10% chance the firearm in question is on the list of registered weapons Paul wants... and it's about a half percent chance the list would do any good at all for the purpose Paul was hoping for.
Gun laws are not the province of medical doctors, especially pediatricians. Guns are not an infectious disease. This is the province of statisticians, politics and the law.
I remember once Michele Obama was almost in tears talking about the shootings of children. The incident involved some "children" who were shot. "The children" she said all choked up. The "children" were caught. All 18 year olds. Members of a gang. Yep, the children afraid to walk to school.
I remember the black and white police video cam of Muzzoo's Professor Melissa Gluck screaming profanities at cops when LE was telling the protesters to get on the curb, out of the street. She was surrounded by big black students, presumably some from the footfall team judging by their size. She screamed "Keep your hands off the children!, get your f**king hands off the children!" The video showed no hands were place on the "children" as they complied with the order to get out of the street and on the curb.
I remember the UC Santa Barbara ("Professor Sex" as affectionally dubbed by her students) assualted some young 17-19 year old females for quietly passing out Pro-Life pamphlets to students...with permission from a small free speech zone. The enraged professor was later charged with assault and convicted of something. She (at the time) defended her actions by matter-of- factly stating the obvious, she was defending "the children". The children were her students and they need to be protected from anti-abortion leaflets. Whether the children are 17 or 23, it matters not to our protectors of "the children", Meses Michelle, Melissa, or Professor Porn.
Gun murders of children? Yes, a deeply disturbing issue. Young gays and lesbos (14-17 year olds) have a higher suicide rate than both the general population and their age group. Gays, and especially tranny babies/lesbians have a higher suicide than the general population, especially in the 18-24 age bracket. How many of these "children" put a muzzle in their mouths and pulled the trigger? Some of the 1300, I assume.
Lordy. lord thanks for the blessing of peace @1039. God forbid the druid actually engages in logical back and forth about his 6% of 1300 administratively preventable shootings. The socialist party parrot will never go at the gangs, its too un-pc. Hey 6% is better than the 1% leftist racket right? Bernie, shrillary, faucahauntas, Al Gore et all are all real world 1% ers are they not? No need to parrot about what is already established fakenewsman. ;-)
Paul 1039 Now I'm the one being defensive? A bizarre notion from the guy who can't throw a decent punch OR rub two facts together to make a proposition.
Given I didn't invoke morals or superiority, where you got that from I've not a clue. When you come back you can detail how you planned on cataloging all firearms and their owners... just pass the law that instructs folks to do it, and they would obey?
Don't fret Paul. Those who really care will see thrump's #s are in fine shape.
Now you just look to fake news that says Trump is ignoring Porto Rico. Just spike any good press for Trump. (can't have any of that getting out.)
'''only you would have the stones to hold a diversity march that was 99.5% comprised of white people''' What eastern block troll farm do you work at fish? You obviously don't live around here based on your clueless post.
Oh KeachKeach......you didn't get the memo....diversity marches are supposed to be about ....umm.....diversity!
300 white urban escapees, "keep on keepin on" hippies, and a smattering of retrograde Social Justice Warrior types getting together to show the world how enlightened they are is just bad theater.
You didn't even let that lonely black girl stand in the middle of the banner.
"If James T. Hodgkinson had been a Trump supporter who shot and almost killed a Democratic congressman for political reasons, he’d be the most infamous man in America. But now, just two months after his attempt to murder a group of Republican lawmakers, he’s not even worth mentioning.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think the press is sad that Hodgkinson didn’t succeed."
Ding, ding, ding.....tell him what he's won Johnny!
Gregory, you prefer to make personal attacks on me rather that dealing with the topic which is the slaughter of children in our country due to access of firearms.
Fakenews or just plain old non-news? Or, a look into the progressive mind.
1)Normally I leave First Ladies alone, except undocumented felons like Hillary. But, when they inject themselves into the political area, all bets are off.
Michelle Obama said that any woman who did not for Hillary voted against their voice. Hmmm. I believe Michelle voted against Hillary in 2008, but I could be wrong.
2). Now Dr. Seuss books are under attack.....selectively. Must be that White Supremist thang.
"A librarian at Cambridgeport Elementary School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, rejected Melania Trump's donation of Dr. Seuss books this week, citing illustrations that are "steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes" while also citing how the school is properly funded and also offering criticism of the Trump administration's controversial Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos."
"The first lady's efforts mirrored actions performed by Michelle Obama, who was known to read Dr. Seuss books to young children. Melania Trump has read the famed author's books at educational events for children, including a reading in March of "Oh, the Places You’ll Go" at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center." https://www.yahoo.com/news/melania-trump-apos-library-donation-182737264.html
This is what Secretary Betsy Devos said on Aug 17, in the aftermath of Charlottesville. No mincing words.
"Last weekend’s tragic and unthinkable events in Charlottesville were wholly unacceptable. The views of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and other racist bigots are totally abhorrent to the American ideal. We all have a role to play in rejecting views that pit one group of people against another. Such views are cowardly, hateful and just plain wrong."
No use arguing with the libs. Waste of time. A favorite quote of mine rom Dr. Condolezza Rice (11/2014) is "Today's True Racists Are Liberals Who Defend Teachers' Unions."
I've not closely followed the current discussion of Paul Emery's gun registration plan. Please forgive me if I am being redundant.
Paul favors firearm registration so that, in his own words, "... the owners of guns who carelessly make them available to children can be held responsible if anyone is injured or killed." He accuses those who disagree of lacking concern for the deaths of children. A problem that I have with this is that Paul's registration plan does nothing to prevent those deaths. I am not the least bit surprised that he would stand on children's graves to advance his anti-Second Amendment agenda.
I do hope that Paul will remember that I answered the question he used to begin this discussion and perhaps he will be inspired to respond to questions asked of him.
That was the whitest diversity march on record and I expect there were more than a few closet racists falsely signaling their virtue in the walk. I didn't have a clue I was applying for a job in the whitest town in California in '91 but I stayed ever since... it is a good life here
A picture of the perps, especially with a clear image of the license plate, would have been the core of the teachable moment I'd have liked to see.
I know I'd be livid were my son to have been harassed by folks in a car as it was the safety for my son that kept me here despite the lack of jobs and good schools. My heart goes out to the family.
Punchy 905 in another drive by
Moral superiority, Paul? Really? Personal attacks? Really? Did it ever strike you the kids are mostly getting shot where guns aren't very available... to the law abiding residents? Chicago/Chiraq. Washington DC.
Toes 909
I remember when my son attended Hennessey School circa 1995, my wife, Teri came home from volunteering one day with the observation that Dr. Seuss (Soysss or Sooose?) wasn't to be found in the classrooms, just gathering dust in the library. Not because The Cat in the Hat was racist but because all the nonsense words that were the mainstay of the master of kid's books were gibberish to whole language instruction sans phonics. Sounding out words was not an approved reading strategy.
Speaking of schools, the simplest and most effective way to reduce child gun deaths would be to REQUIRE that ALL CHILDREN receive basic gun safety education in school. Locally, prior to the 1990's many of the local elementary asked the GVPD to come to the classrooms and do exactly that. It is now no longer encouraged or probably even allowed, due to anti-gun bias in education. I wonder if Paul Emery would be a champion of that gun law?
John.. Not a bad idea what so ever.
Funny how LIB ideas change over time. There was a time (Late 80's to mid mid 90's??) There were those teachers wanting kids to rat out their parents who might be smoking dope. (today,, they would like it if those same kids took dope to school)
So there is a new "rat out your parent" program. "If Mommy or Daddy
have a gun, tell the teacher". Just to have a cop show up to see if they are legally compliant.

Now, why would Pelline say anything about race when he chose to move to the whitest county in the state? Did he come her to escape his true predjudices in the city against peiople of color? And Frisch who preaches diversity yet practices none is the poster child for hypocrisy. For me, I lve everyone but have no room for whiners in my life.

Does that mean that we should ignore the deaths of 1300 children each year due to guns and regard them as inevitable or should we try to do something? What in your view should that "something " be?

When you got that under control, and the problem still exists, then let's take a look at new burdens with which we can saddle law abiding gun owners.

Well, it did get you skipped to the next groove, Paul. All of a sudden you have something else to talk about than those kids you really don't care about.
Posted by: Gregory | 29 September 2017 at 04:29 PM
I lost an uncle to a gun accident Gregory. He was my mothers brother and died when he was 13 playing with a gun he found in a ditch. Don't say I don't care about the kids. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 29 September 2017 at 04:32 PM
Amos and Andy? They are replaying those on TV I heard. And I recall in 2008 that Hillary did an impression of a black at a gathering of blacks and was lauded. Did you uncle's folks get prosecuted, Paul Emery for the death?
Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 29 September 2017 at 04:40 PM
Posted by: Walt | 29 September 2017 at 04:53 PM
An uncle who died when, Paul? 1910? Long before you were born? Playing with a gun he found in a ditch?
About that time a very young uncle of mine died as a result of a routine tonsillectomy. Minor and routine surgery my ass, one of the reasons I never had one despite my tonsils being in tatters from repeated infections... my mom didn't believe in them.
Family stories notwithstanding, I don't think you care about the kids you're using as props here any more than anyone else here, Paul. If you did you would have discussed the issues not just thrown out 1300 over and over.
Posted by: Gregory | 29 September 2017 at 05:02 PM

I'm pretty damned sure they know where the gun came from. So much for the "need" for another gun law. Nice try Paul.

Posted by: Account Deleted | 29 September 2017 at 08:12 PM
from the report that Paul cited - "Fifty-three percent of these were homicides (n = 693), 38% were suicides (n = 493), and 6% were unintentional firearm deaths (n = 82); the remaining 3% were due to legal intervention (n = 9) and deaths of undetermined intent (n = 19)."
So it looks like Paul is sooooo worried about children being shot dead, he wants to pass laws that might have to do with a whopping 6% of the total.
What a complete phoney.
Posted by: Account Deleted | 29 September 2017 at 08:33 PM
Well Scott, he did earn his title of po' ol' fakenewsman for a reason. ;-)
Posted by: Don Bessee | 29 September 2017 at 09:47 PM

Paul 1039 Now I'm the one being defensive? A bizarre notion from the guy who can't throw a decent punch OR rub two facts together to make a proposition.
Given I didn't invoke morals or superiority, where you got that from I've not a clue. When you come back you can detail how you planned on cataloging all firearms and their owners... just pass the law that instructs folks to do it, and they would obey?

Melania Trump has read the famed author's books at educational events for children, including a reading in March of "Oh, the Places You’ll Go" at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center."

In related related education news, Betsy Devon was called a White Supremist at a Harvard University speech Thursday.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/protests-at-devos-harvard-speech-sign-calls-her-white-supremacist/
Posted by: Bill Tozer | 30 September 2017 at 09:09 AM

'''That was the whitest diversity march on record''' ....the ratio of races on Mill St. were proportional to the demographics. DuH!

Still. You don't get the point of all those people.
You don't get called KKKeach for nothing.

A back and forth from the Frisch and the Pelline. What a hoot!
"Steve,
Those “old voices” on George “Raghead” Rebane’s blog are “outliers.” Totally irrelevant. That came through loud and clear at yesterday’s “Love March.” This blog received 3,000 page views yesterday. Ask George Rebane or “Sierra Dragon’s Breathe” (sic) how many page views they received. ROFLOL."

3000 views?
I claim "fake news". A glitch from the fiber optic cutting.

Usually something this stupid I expect from jeffy. DuH!
Congrats...you remain the "poster child" for not getting it!
Your march..... a "Daily Show" segment! No matter how much the Frischenator tries to tart it up in flowery emotional language. If it happens in a "Red" voting county John Oliver is going on about it being 2017!
Current year dude...current year!

exactly right

Frisch's staff is even whiter than before, having lost a person of some color in the past month. Down to a total of, by my eyeballs, one. But Frisch will say all the right things and not pay for his company's hiring practices. Steve... have you ever even hired a black person (meaning more African DNA than Liz Warren has native American DNA)?

I'm beginning to believe they are running a TROLL boiler room
Doug and friends seem to be spamming the comment world at the Daily Caller and Breitbart. Same styles. Plenty of rude comments an NO answers to any questions.
One can't be doing it all. Unless some voice writing system is in use. Four TROLL accounts going at the same time.
