Well it's good to agree with Don Bessee about something and that is that Trumps job approvals are the lowest in polling history Perhaps we can find agreement on more things in the future.

" NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll — the lowest mark in the poll’s history for any modern president ending his first year."

Walt

LIBS polling LIBS.. What a surprise.

Well Walt, Don seems to accept the credibility of the WSJ polling. This was his post:

"A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released on Friday found that satisfaction with the economy is at a 17-year high, and “those feeling good about the state of the nation’s economy now include 86 percent of Republicans, 65 percent of independents and even a majority — 57 percent — of Democrats.” In addition, “39 percent of all Americans say they’re ready for an economic expansion for themselves and their families, the highest share since 2005.”

Food or gas? Flip a coin.

Part of the refiner’s financial troubles stem from a costly biofuels law called the Renewable Fuels Standard, which is administered by the Environmental Protection Agency and requires refiners to blend biofuels into the nation’s fuel supply every year, or buy credits from those who do.

Since 2012, Philadelphia Energy Solutions has spent more than $800 million on credits to comply with the law, making it the refiner’s biggest expense after the purchase of crude, according to the memo.

The Philadelphia refinery’s struggles have emerged as a potential flashpoint in the debate between Big Oil and Big Corn over the future of the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Critics have argued the company’s woes are an example of what is wrong with the program, while supporters say the company’s troubles are more closely related to its lack of access to cheaper crude oil supplies.

What a night of football! The po' ol' fakenewsman is just hatin' that the trend indicators for the mid terms are not going his way. The prez does not need to win your general poll, note to the po' ol' pollhead, he just needs to win the states that matter which excludes us and NY. LOL

Paul Emery

So no concrn that Trump is at historic lows in your favorite poll Don?

Todd Juvinall

DonB the polls give PE a orgasm when they reflect his bias. But you are right. The economy will dictate the midterms. Good=R's win, not=dems [pick up House seats. Senate will be ours though.

Scenes

Don Bessee responding to one of Paul's contentless posts :"The prez does not need to win your general poll,"

That's actually a pretty good point. There must be some professional software out there that gathers up polls at a more granular level and allows you to see what matters.

Aside from a small handful of house seats, for example, there's absolutely no point in aggregating California or New York polling numbers into a discussion on US politics.

Ironically, even with one party rule, California can't manage it's own house very well, but it's elite and most of the hoi polloi present a single (and ignorable) bloc.

Now that I think of it, that's another reason to feed illegals into those two states, and to generally encourage a liberal-topia there, the concentration allows an advantage in the Senate and Presidential races to Team Red.

Seriously, it would make a lot of sense to completely legalize marijuana, 4th trimester abortion, fully fund the womyn's movement and liberal arts colleges, in those two states.

Paul Emery

Scenes writes:

"Ironically, even with one party rule, California can't manage it's own house very well"

The same certainly can be said about the one party rule we have in Washington.

George Rebane

Scenes 828am - Interesting concept re CA and NY. That would effectively implement a national gerrymander. Too bad we live in one of those burgeoning socialist havens. And then your "4th trimester abortion" suggestion. Does that work like an extended 'try before you buy' guarantee in that you can put the baby in a dumpster any time during its first three months. It makes a lot of sense for those who would kill a survivable baby before or during birth - just extend the guarantee on the little guy.

PaulE 831am - With the Senate's 60-vote filibuster buster rule in a legislative body in which you no longer actually have to filibuster to stop legislation, there is little chance of "one party rule" in Washington. But I think you already knew that and are hoisting that bon mot as a red herring for the occasional ignorant reader. Right?

The difference in one party rule is simple. Democrats want more laws to regulate you while the R's want less.

Walt

Now Paul complains about "one party rule" in D.C.?
Where was his gripe when LIBs had it? Oh... never mind.
And if LIBS did such a bang up job Paul, why did people kick your side to the curb??

Paul Emery

Libs did a crappy Job Walt. Should have supported single payer rather than Obamacare. Also Obama's giveaways to Wall Street under the guise of so called economic recovery. Should have invested in infrastructure rebuild for job stimulation.

fish

Should have supported single payer rather than Obamacare.

Another "libertarian" disqualification…..you remain a tightly closeted (not that this state of mind comes as any surprise to any regular poster here) progressive democrat!

Walt

But Paul Libs DID "invested in infrastructure rebuild for job stimulation." A Trillion dollars worth. Forget "Crapulus" so soon?
The only "shovel ready" jobs were piling up on the LIBS collective front lawn. But we had plenty of "Solyndra" monkeyshines.
And don't forget ANY work done from "crapulus" money would be done by LIB unions.
Yup, NO WONDER is was doomed. LIBS dreamed it up.

Now compared to today, the recovery is all being done by "the people". NOT promises from D.C.

Bill Tozer

Scenes
Hillary only ran once. I thought you knew that, Scenes.

Actually, Don indeed brought up a great point. Trump won the Presidency by the concentration of liberals in the darkest jungles known urban centers. We already covered that ground. and it was proven beyond a doubt by combing through voting results that the concentration of Libbies in clusters got them more votes, but less electoral votes. They cluster glucked themselves.

When I read last night CA wants half of money saved by rich Federal Tax filers and tax them 50% of that “savings”, I immediately thought of Scenes’ CA-50 solution. Just the rich, mind you, including business pes making a petty million buck a year (net). Boy, they sure have dumbed down the standards of what constitutes being rich. The revenue is needed for a “state that has prioritized fiscal responsibility and progressive investments.”
Quote unquoted.

The reason CA lawmakers desperately want more money is because they have already prioritized Progressive investments and desperately need more and more and more Yankee Dollars to keep such programs funded or taking a haircut.

Paul Emery

I believe in health care for all and Single Payer is the best way to achieve that end. In my view health care is a commons much like clean air and clean water.

Gregory

Paul, in my view music is a commons much like clean air and clean water.

You will be happy to perform for the money being offered by the Ministry of Music and not a cent more, and it will be criminal to try to charge more than what the single payer will pay.

Walt, Gregory

There's no point in going through this again. We have different core beliefs on this matter so lets leave it at that.

Bill Tozer

Now I wish to dip my toe in the waters called ‘daily polls’. I first must ask your forbearance for an antedoal non-empirical observation.

Back in the day, I was often forced to sit late at night reviewing the production’ company’s previous day’s filming. Called “dailies” on the West Coast, “rushes” on the East Coast. Every evening watching the specific scenes that were shot. Every night the producers, director assistants, and some talent and crew involved gathered to watch the dailies. And every single night the sound of oohs and aahs filed the room. “Looks great, awesome, fantastic, great job!” I usually just rolled my eyes.

When the films were finally released and were total duds, a friend had the best line I ever heard on the topic, which I am applying to daily polling here. After watching the completed film with me at the cinema, he turned and slyly asked, “What happened to all those beautiful dailies?”

Yep, the daily polls held so much promise. Put them all together and the result was not so great. The sum of the parts did not equal the whole, as evidenced by Nov. 9, 2016. However, the sum of parts does equal the hole, as evidenced by the posting of daily polls.

George Rebane

Here's is something on the celebrated and oft-cited Canadian single payer system that is also endemic in the EU. Here are just a couple of recent reports that will never see the light of day in the lamestream, nor invoke an epiphany in a progressive (e.g. PaulE's recent 1018am). If the quality of today's 'free healthcare' systems were transferred to commons such as "clean air" and "clean water", both would quickly become putrid commodities such as enjoyed by the people of Red China and socialist India.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/single-payer-health-care-isnt-worth-waiting-for-1516566456
https://www.cato.org/multimedia/cato-video/sally-pipes-details-realities-canadian-health-care

re Hillary's presidential efforts - A person is considered in the running for an elective office once they formally file for such candidacy within some jurisdiction. Hillary very definitely ran twice for POTUS. The fact that in the end her party did not nominate her, does not mean she was not a candidate running for the office through the primaries and into the party's convention. Simply put, her run was abbreviated.

fish

I believe in health care for all and Single Payer is the best way to achieve that end.

I understand that you believe this. I also understand that it is a profoundly anti-libertarian position to hold!

It's not that you hold these beliefs Paul it's that you misrepresent yourself when you publicly espouse them!

...and Single Payer is the best way to achieve that end.

Your claim of superior performance is again presented without evidence and in the face of two very poorly run government "single payer" programs (Medicare and the VA Healthcare system).

Paul is having a hard time reading the chart at Rasmussen, again. It looks to me like Trump's total approval has gone from 46 to 42... down 4. And there is no entry for January 14, but since it's 46 just before the 14th and just after the 14th, it's probable it would have been 46 had they taken a poll on the 14th.

Now, if Punchy will tell me what numbers he tortured to get his result...

Paul Emery

The polls are always reported by the difference in support or non support. That's the say they are reported. Here's today's example. Trump -14 in Rasmussen. Was -6 a week or so ago .

Yep, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Sad to see the Shutdown end so quickly. Gee Shutdown, I hardly got to know ya. Join us back in three weeks, same time, same station.

Hate to see the Shutdown end just as the whole shebang was being formed in the public’s mind that the Dems would rather stop the paychecks to our underpaid men and women in the military living check to check (while protecting us at this very hour), just to make it their top priority to put illegal aliens first.

Trump works for American citizens, the Left works for illegal aliens. The Schumer Shutdown.

Paul Emery

Gregory, let me help you with this. Follow the link I'm providing (again) and scroll down to Jan 15-last Monday and you'll find Trump was -6 46-52. 6 points difference. Today he's 42-56 14 point difference one week later. Serious drop in support in one week.

For those readers who want to put 'truth' into perspective as per George's 10:48

The Cato Institute is an American libertarian think tank with a moderate right wing bias that is headquartered in Washington, D.C. It was founded as the Charles Koch Foundation in 1974...They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes.....the Koch bros. strike again in their ongoing efforts to re-create America in their image with their rules.

WSJ: The WSJ editorial page (from which George's link comes) skews far right (but not extreme right)t while the news section is considered to be centrist with a slight right leaning.

so there you have it... another case of right wing bias here on RR, fair and balanced.. George reports and you decide. #SAD

Punchy, perhaps I can get your eyes opened... The Rasmussen Approve Index is NOT the difference "in support or non support"... it's the difference between Strong Approval and Strong Disapproval. A measure of strong emotions, yea or nay. That's the leftmost column.

The Total Approval number is the second column from the right.

Got it? Today the total approval is 42%.

Now, if you think today (Jan 22, 2018) is -14 Approval index, your problem is obvious

re RobertC 1129am - Mr Cross is another RR reader who pays scant attention to the content and declared cast of this blog. As I have explained to readers from the hoary beginning of this enterprise, I am not 'fair and balanced' since I don't know how to do that. And I have yet to discover anyone else, especially those who so claim, to be fair and balanced in their commentaries.

However, Mr Cross offers nothing significant in his criticism of my 1048am where my citations report the state of Canada's healthcare system. He rejects the factual part of the message, duns the messenger, and also me for bringing it to your attention. I only point this out because it is part of the ongoing stream of ripostes by progressives on these and others' pages. The substance is never there. Perhaps Mr Cross and others like him frequenting RR should review what this blog is all about - it definitely is not an attempt at what today passes for journalism.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/

Punchy learned a new word today... the "spread". He also changed links from Rasmussen to RCP.

Look at the spread. If approval goes up 1%, and as might be expected, disapproval goes down 1%... the spread's delta is double that, or 2%.

RCP might report the spread at the new link Paul has provided, but that doesn't make it the lingua franca of pollsters. The spread is fine for horseraces or sports betting, but that isn't the case here except for some newsreaders and hack reporters who want extra volatile numbers to rant about.

Yes, Rasmussen daily poll has Trump at 42%, down from 46% a few days ago. In the range it's been rattling around in for months.

Bill Tozer

Shutdown.
It has occurred to me that there are millions of folks out there that have never seen the Dems fold like a cheap suit during a Shutdown in their lifetimes. What changed? One man and a Twitter Machine? Nah. The Bernie crowd just don’t have the numbers. For the past, say 40 years or so, the real Libs, the far Lefties, have stood at 19-22% of the voting population. Sure, peaked at 24% a couple of times, but those were for brief periods.

Shutdown? The Bernie Believers, however form the true believers take or call themselves, still do not have the numbers in 2018. Their big tent tent ain’t big enough.

Never get tired of winning....to be continued. America First or Invaders First? It’s a free country. You decide.

As a reminder, last month, the DOJ released hundreds of text messages between Strzok and Page, both of whom served briefly on Mueller’s team, with Page leaving over the summer and Strzok being reassigned late last year to the FBI’s human resources division after the discovery of the exchanges with Page.

Many of the texts revealed a clear anti-Trump and pro-Clinton bias, and included discussions of the Clinton email investigation.

"We need to get to the bottom of it and find out what exactly happened," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Monday on Fox News' "Outnumbered Overtime."

Jordan said Monday that the lapse in documents is reminiscent of the mysterious disappearance of emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner during the Obama-era IRS/Tea Party targeting scandal. Lerner’s emails disappeared during congressional investigations.

“The Lerner thing was huge,” Jordan told The Daily Caller. “My gut tells me this is probably bigger.”

So to summarize:

IRS emails: missing, and likely deleted
Clinton emails: deleted
NSA emails: deleted
And now, thousands of FBI text messages: deleted

What a farce.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said the need for a second special counsel was “abundantly clear now.”

So Walt everything you disagree with is Fake news. Is that observation accurate?

Boardman,

I thought Bannon’s book was already out. Probably won’t get near the traction as Brady's Deflategate.

When is the Schiff going to hit the fan? Sen. Harris is on the fainting couch with Nancy and Di-Wi. Come on Adam, it’s your turn to represent the Golden Shower State.

Masterful trolling: “Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March. Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months. Is the dam breaking? “If [a border wall is] what it’s going to take to take 800,000 young men and women and give them a chance to live freely and openly in America, then I’ll roll up my sleeves, and I’ll go down there with bricks and mortar and begin the wall. A brick for lives? Okay, let’s do it.” —Rep. Luis Gutierrez

1) Looks like we are pulling out of the Iran nuke deal. Pence fired the last warning shot in Jerusalem today. And he was not directing his comments to Iran. It was shot right at Congress. Bob Corker swallowed his Adam’s apple. One heck of a great speech by Pence. Made no bones about several issues. Are them Dems sure they want him to replace Trump? Opps, they don’t. Trump without the crudeness, squeaky clean, highest of morals, and spends weekends helping clear fallen trees from streets or sweeping up the WW2 Memorial when the cameras are not rolling. A Dem nightmare.

2) Waste of time and loosing its luster

“Bill
I could care less if Gregory agrees with me. I'm just trying to guide him to the truth in the matter and he can take it from there.” Punchy

Ok, whatever you say. Come on Gregory, it’s your turn to fall in line. Obedience is not negotiable..

“Well it's good to agree with Don Bessee about something and that is that Trumps job approvals are the lowest in polling history Perhaps we can find agreement on more things in the future.

Debby W. Schultz has a few uplifting words for the left.
"We did get something out of the shutdown. The potential for momentum." Nice save girl,, nice save.
Schumer has the disposition of an undertaker at the moment, and Nancy's appearance is of an asylum escapee.
Nope, NOT happy.

NID Fake News?

NID launches a fake news campaign in The Union to support the development of more water collection dams, pointing out that relying on the snow pack is no longer a reliable options due to anthropogenic climate change. The message is we need dams to collect rain to survive anthropogenic droughts.

Study shows warming temperatures shifting snow to rain across Sierra Nevada.

https://www.theunion.com/news/local-news/study-shows-warming-temperatures-shifting-snow-to-rain-across-sierra-nevada/

I am all for more dams as California is subject to long term droughts due to natural variability which I have discussed in this blog post:

Trumps low polling refers to polling at the end of the first year. Thought you knew that. Which poll are you quoting? Gallup? If so they show Trump at 36% as of today. Send me a link to your information. Here's my link. Where's yours?

My, my. Just when you thought you heard everything, Chucky the Clown is now being branded as a Righty. Schumer caved just like the empty nut sack Righty he is. Mercy.

“Today's cave by Senate Democrats — led by weak-kneed, right-of-center Democrats — is why people don’t believe the Democratic Party stands for anything,” said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. “These weak Democrats hurt the party brand for everyone and make it harder to elect Democrats everywhere in 2018.”
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/370215-trump-democrats-cave-on-shutdown

They do have a valid point. People do indeed believe the Democrat Party does not stand for anything. What exactly do they stand for? Can’t argue with that.

Pssst, Far Left. Your party is not as far left as you are. Oh, they say the things you want them to say aloud, but they just haven’t quite evolved that far over the left field fence yet, no matter how hard you try to drag them along with you into the bottom of the sea. Maybe you should start a 3rd Party. Great idea, no? No use sticking around the Dem Establishment “fix is in” Machine no more. Go or it!

Psst again. You still don’t have the numbers. Alas. Youth is wasted on the young.

ROFLMAO

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42766159

Yep, keep focusing on Trump, what Trump tweeted today, who he boiked in 2006, which of the 3,000 lies he told today, what shoes FLOTUS wore yesterday, focus on daily polling in the toilet, obstruction of justice, impeachment, investigations and opinion pieces searching for a crime, Trump’s Big Macs and diet cokes, ad infinitum.

Every single second they look at Trump, they miss the boat leaving the docks without them. Trump (wisely) walked away this weekend and let Chucky deal with Mitch and Nancy deal with Paul...Paul Ryan. Oh Chucky was bitching that Trump was on the sidelines, leaving him to do all the negotiating with the Republicans. Yo Chucky, in case you did not notice, Trump kicked your butt....from the sidelines.

Keep focusing every second of everyday on Trump and polls. Look at those polls. Study them, learn them, know them, love them. Read the tea leaves.

Bottomline: Trump is just one Deplorable. Trump will come and go as all Presidents do. But, there is a whole basket full of Deplorables out there that, like Trump, have, are, and will be kicking your asses from the sidelines long after Trump. Memorize those polls!

Daily polls worked like a charm throughout 2016 and they hold all the answers to what life is all about. Unlocks all the Great Mysteries. Hold them polls up high so we all can see them...darn, another bus left the station.
