Generalissimo Covfefe

Time to spark up some tasty recreational buds and get the new year off to a mellow start!!!

Get ready for a greenhouse near you and the sweet smell of skunk drifting across your backyard!!!

Account Deleted

G.C. - Happy now? See - life under Trump is pretty swell!

Well Dougy,, your skunk stink drifts across the property line, when the wind blows the other direction, some Roundup can make the same trip.

Time Square looked more like the documentary "march of the penguins"
All huddled up in large numbers, looking to stay warm.

George Rebane

In California, the stupid state, Republicans don't have much for which to look forward this year. The state brings together all the factors promoting socialist autocracy within one jurisdiction. Read 'em and weep.

Administrivia - for those anxious few waiting to see how the recent 'little puzzle' is solved, two solutions are posted for your entertainment and/or edification. Fun stuff.

Russ Steele

How Do You Vote? Google Street View Calls It

This is most interesting, particularly when it can be use to target voters. Clever use of AI.

What vehicle is most strongly associated with Republican voting districts? Extended-cab pickup trucks. For Democratic districts? Sedans.

Check your drive way? What do you drive? Want to guess who drives a sedan and comments on these pages, and who drives a pickup and comments here.

Extended Cab GMC Heavy Duty in my driveway.

George Rebane

RussS 116am - mine too! ;-)

Well Russ,, as for LIBs,, it's a Prius or a Subaru, covered in dust and bumper stickers.

Cheech and Chong network now?

I do believe drug tests are in order.

Don Bessee

Another one bites the dust?

Don Bessee

The benefits of a progressive, enlightened democrat administration for decades-

Do the wounded get participation trophies? ;-)

IIRC Pelline has a big extended cab pickup that he uses to distribute the glossy pennysaver he gives away and to drive to Trader Joe's every month to pick up some cases of 2 Buck Chuck white zinfandel... it's not just for breakfast anymore.

It also has the load capacity to haul his ass wherever he wants to go.

So, there might be some holes in that theory of automobiles being an indicator of politics.

Gregory @03:37 PM Yes, it is not a perfect method, only an indicator. I thought about the Glossy Pennysaver delivery vehicle and several others in our neighborhood that does not match the theory. I also have a Republican friend who drives a Prius and our primary vehicle is a Volvo. However, no virtue signaling bumper stickers on the Volvo or the Prius.

LOL! Jeffie is "thousands of miles away" but just 12 minutes after I posted the tell-all of his 2buck chuck habit at 3:37, he had responded on his blog denying his use of that truck to buy cheap wine down the hill, insisting he buys all his cheap wine locally, in Nevada County.

Of course you do, Jeff. wink wink.

January 1, 2018 at 3:49 pm

I’m thousands of miles from home, and these creeps are still obsessed with me on George Rebane’s blog, on New Year’s no less. What must their families think?

And jeff is with his family, thousands of miles away... checking RR to see if anyone is posting something about him. The hypocrisy... it burns!

Oh, and a message from Steven Frisch of the wretchedly misnamed Sierra Business Council...

Steven Frisch says: December 31, 2017 at 8:01 am

Just could not help myself…this one is for all the American nationalists out there on the right side of the blogosphere….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29Mg6Gfh9Co

Steven seems to be saying the future belongs to him and his kind... or at least all his fellow National Socialist progressives who bothered to procreate. When they had a chance.

Eugenics at work, I suppose.

By the middle of the Youtube clip Frisch was standing and singing along, with tears running down his face.
Those socialist folk songs always get to him.

Don Bessee

The lefties will suffer with kids who are conservative deplorables @457!

A late Christmas present-

OH BOY, promise! ;-)

Wow... DB, is that a picture of Gunga Dan Rather at the linked page, the formerly famous disgraced journalist who pulled a Pelline, running with false information that he represented as truth?

Todd Juvinall

Frisch was singing loud. I heard him here. And his right arm was raised stiffly in a salute.

Don Bessee

Trouble in mullah city-

“Religious leaders and the leadership must come to the scene as soon as possible and prevent the situation (from) deteriorating further.” It continued, “God help us, this is a very complex situation and is different from previous occasions.”

Bill Tozer

Oh Don 7:09 pm.
Where have you been? Global Warning will wipe out Mullah City first, making this all a mute point. No worries. It’s all be taken care of. Ok, if not by fire, then by ice.

That Trump is something else: Holy Molley, he lied again! Somebody stop him

Holy Toledo! Run for the hills. Trump is about to to it again. I can’t believe my eyeballs. Run. Don’t think about it, just run. Drop everything and run!

Bill Tozer

Cause and effect, liberal style....living the dream....in the bubble.

“In an interview with NPR, Scott claims only the progressive activists wanted cops to be eliminated:

No. That represented our progressives, our activists, our liberal journalists, our politicians, but it did not represent the overall community. Because we know for a fact that around the time Freddie Gray was killed, we start to see homicides increase. We had five homicides in that neighborhood while we were protesting.”

George Rebane

BillT 751am - Mr Tozer, your comment clearly demonstrates that Breitbart is a racist media outlet, since the report you link strongly asserts that idiocy is a common characteristic among blacks.

Bill Tozer

Oh, our Tweeter in Chief is back to his mischievous ways. He tweeted something about Debbie Whatzhername Shultz which at first reflex I found odd. Then I thought, “oh yeah, Debbie and her Pakistain pack mule.. What ever happen to them? Thanks, Mr. President for the heads up. Does that man ever sleep?
How easily some choose to forget. As they old song goes, “Some drink to remember, some drink to forget”.
Another glass of Chardonnay, My Gal? New Years Eve celebrations and watching the ball drop was ok, but nobody drops the ball like My Gal, or her 2nd BFF Debbie, nor the #1 BFF, Huma.

Ok, I conceded some do just fine without even using Twitter. Resist!

Scenes from the Apocalypse

re: BT@12:10PM

Thanks for the Disney thing, too funny.

It looks like the PellineEmery axis took a field trip.

Don Bessee

BAM! Dow opens the year up 104 to 24,823! Triple record closes in spite of the Iranian unrest.

If they have to scrounge for food how will they be able to actually fight?

George Boardman

What? Mitt Romney, a Republican with principles, may run for the Senate? No wonder Trump wanted Hatch to run for another term.

But don't worry, boys. Michele Bachmann is asking God if she should run for Al Franken's seat.

Don Bessee

That's not what you said when Romney ran @ 147!

Payback is a bitch-

Bill Tozer

Well, Mr. Boardman, the Democrats did say that a woman should fill Stuart Smiley’s vacant seat.
Whether they meant “born woman” or not, they did not say. Ah, gender and race are just social contructs anyway.
Those Dems are hilarious. They “suddenly” are so concerned about sexual harassment against women....are the same group that cheers wildly because they are the champions of forcing females women to accept men into their restrooms.

That’s them same group that marched around wearing hijabs declaring they are a symbol of freedom. Go figure.

Romney has principles? Mr. Boardman, are you nuts?? Romney strapped his dog to the top of the family station wagon and murdered, yes, murdered a factory worker’s wife on purpose! He is a friggin murdering animal abuser. Principles? I beg to differ, sir. Did you hear what that heartless capitalistic porky pig Romney said about the tax cuts??

And you call Mitt principled?

Don Bessee

A quarter billion here, a quarter billion there and soon you have the wall!

Better spent on the wall than on terrorists payrolls! ;-)

Don Bessee

Here is a pool of money for the wall, Mexico's largest source of income-

Bill Tozer

The bigger picture is not NAFTA, making NATO pay as previously agreed upon, trimming back our money showered on the UN, Pakistan, and now the Palenstine Authority, or any one of a bunch of nations and groups long overdue for a haircut. It’s renegotiating these one sided relationships. Too one sided. Sure, there may be a few one sided relationships we deem critical and necessary for our national interests. Our national interests, not theirs. America First means fair, not getting screwed. Guess that makes me a Nationalist, a half white nationalist. :)

Money talks, BS walks. If you want to play, your are going to pay...your fair share. We already pay our fair share as well as a big hunk of their fair share. Ain’t asking for The World, just fairness. Think they have a infinitive to come to the table. Self interest is a powerful motivator.

A quarter billion here, and quarter billion there. Heard Trump has been studying footage of the last Summer Olympics and, specially, the Mexican pole vaulters. Gotta know how high to build the wall.

Mitt as being principled is a howler... who can forget his plea to tell him what they want in a President and he'll be that President. A GOP friend told me to not vote for Mitt was unAmerican, and it didn't matter that a vote for Mitt in California was going to be wasted at the Elector level.

Mitt did look Presidential in a suit. Cleaned up real good.

Hmm, let's look at what Crabbman is saying behind his moat and drawbridge:

The Republicans base is unlikely to falter in their support of Trump, and why should they? After all, he is the first Republican president to actually do the things that the far right has been harping on since the Reagan years. He’s slashed regulations, put a reliably right wing ideologue on the Supreme Court, crippled the Affordable Care Act, told the Iranians and North Koreans to go fuck themselves, told the United Nations that they can either support us or shut up if they want any funding from Washington, and he personally challenges the news media 24/7.

Earl is back to his mantra of being in the middle and it's the responsibility for others to figure out how to compromise to get to where he's standing. First, Gorsuch isn't "a reliably right-wing ideologue". From a Boston Globe article published soon after his nomination,

Now, many are comparing Gorsuch to the justice he may replace, the late Antonin Scalia, known for his unbending conservatism, outsize personality, and cutting opinions.

But Bob Kroll, a fellow member of the Lincoln’s Inn Society, described Gorsuch as less irascible and more low-key — more like that other famous member of the class of 1991.

“He had such a thoughtful manner, and he would weigh the issues in a way I found so insightful and so impressive,” Kroll said. “I kind of felt that way about Barack Obama, too.”

What he apparently most closely resembles is a Jeffersonian textualist...

When one thinks of Scalia as a Hamiltonian textualist, it's hard not to note that Hamilton, who knew how to win friends and make enemies with his cutting words, was shot dead in a duel by Burr (who was Jefferson's vice president at the time) who was demanding satisfaction for a recent libel or two.

I also take exception to Crabb's misstatement of the UN situation. It wasn't a case of 'support us' if you want our money, it was a 'stay out of our sovereign business' if you want our money. It's not up to a vote of the General Assembly where we put an embassy... it is up to us and the country where the embassy will be. Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for some time and our embassy has been slated to go there for decades.

The General Assembly will get over it, as will the Palestinians and their supporters in the matter.

Did Paul broadcast a PSA to remind all street MJ dealers to collect that sales tax? The "main man" demands his cut.
Remember Paul? taxation was a big selling point. Time to pay up.

Bill Tozer

Liar!, Liar! Opps. Guess lying to the FBI is really no big deal. Nothing to see here, move on.

“His admission of false statements came one day after the Comey statement was already being drafted, investigators told The Hill.

The computer employee originally told the FBI in a February 2016 interview that he did not recall making any deletions from Clinton’s server in March 2015, FBI records show.

But then on May 3, 2016, the same employee in a subsequent FBI interview told agents he had an “oh shit moment” and in late March 2015 deleted Clinton’s email archive from the server, according to FBI documents reviewed by The Hill.

Lying to the FBI is a federal felony, a crime that former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn recently pleaded guilty to. But the FBI decided not to pursue criminal charges against the witness, and instead gave the technician an immunity deal so he could correct his story, congressional investigators said.”

To be perfectly clear, I do not want one person procesuted for purely political reasons. No one, be it a lefty, righty, independen, Libertarian, Greenie, or other. I do, however, feel folks should be prosecuted if evidence points to breaking the law Gross violations of the law should be litigated in a court of law since we are a nation of laws, not of men. And I ain’t talking about jaywalking or sneaking a cig behind Mc Gees.

Don Bessee

Its a popular move, who will be next in line to help pay for the wall?

Bill Tozer

CNN and it’s on air reporters taking a pull off the bong on New Year’s Evil:

Nearly all the comments on various sites about CNN reporters getting stoned or passing the joint around on TV misses the point. Many came from upset parents decrying smoking dope in front of the children. “There’s children watching! Lighting up and putting it out there in our faces.” The whole family was gathered around to watch the Ball drop. The smoking gas mask was flaunted right in front of our children. Shame! What the heck was CNN thinking?!?!...

Well, that consternation was misplaced, IMHO. The real question to parents across the land is, “What the hell are you parents doing allowing your children to watch CNN?” Sure, they blast CNN in every airport bar, but that is only because children are not allowed in airport bars. What were your parents thinking? You allowed CNN to be watched right in front of children, for pete’s sake. Shame on you.

Bonnie McGuire

Journalist Jarrett Stepman's Daily Signal article about the history of Fake news is wonderful. Many years ago I noticed how important many viewpoints from different angles of experience and observations are. Altogether they do provide a real education to make intelligent decisions....Thanks for our 1st Amendment. Human nature can be annoying, obnoxious and dishonest, but eventually truth and goodness has a chance to shine.

Don Bessee

From one of the dirtiest never Trumpers-

Bill Tozer

While reading Bonnie’s link, I could not stop thinking of Cuba for some reason. Anyway, the intetnet has changed the way we communicate, but not the ways Authoritarians, Tyrants, and Control Freaks think or behave.

1) Good for him:

“Telegram's CEO had previously tweeted that Iranian authorities had blocked access to Telegram for "the majority of Iranians" after the company refused to shut down peaceful protesting channels.”

2) Belly Laugh from the Iranian Theocracy.

Get this. The Iranian Government has shut down schools and trains because of....drumroll please...because of......of......air pollution. Yes, air pollution.

They pulled out the Global Warming card and laid it on the table. Restrict travel and communication and close down the schools where the anti-government riff raft congregate in their safe places to plot their treasonous dastardly deeds ....because of air pollution. It’s the ace n the hole. Nothing trumps the Gobal Warning card. Who would ever demonstrate for air pollution, eh? Those Iranians have learned from the best.

Don Bessee

Well that's a tax payer support for your citizen kids educational benefit right?

“Rex tells me you don’t want me to use the military option in Venezuela,” the president told the gathered Latin American leaders, according to an account offered by an attendee soon after the dinner. “Is that right? Are you sure?” Everyone said they were sure. But they were rattled. War with Venezuela, as absurd as that seemed, was clearly still on Trump’s mind.
“Without fail, they just had wide eyes about the entire engagement,”
“The word they all used was: ‘This guy is insane.’”

“The word they all used was: ‘This guy is insane.’”

Yeah Duggy......and he's president because you proglodyte morons played the "Menopause Card" with the worst corporate shill on the entire planet!

Suck it losers!

Todd Juvinall

Listening to a live CSPAN and the speaker is a "adviser" to Hillary from her Senate days. The guy is totally unhinged about Trump. Impeachment and the dems will take the House and Senate just like we did in 2010. Anyway, these people are in a dream world. I see the R's maintaining the Congress in all the things I read and trust. But still way to early for any of us.

Robert Cross

Steve Bannon on whether or not trump knew about the trump tower meeting with the Russians " "The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these Jumos up to his father’s office of the 26th floor is zero,” How do you spell "collusion"? Not to mention outright lying, of course.

Bannon also thinks this was treason. “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,”

So who are the real "proglodyte morons" here? You know, those who are so stupid that they believe what Donald the Liar says about anything and everything? #Sad

Bill Tozer

Suddenly they think Steve Bannon is credible. Now they believe anything and everything he says. My, things can turn on a dime.

So who are the real "proglodyte morons" here? You know, those who are so stupid that they believe what Donald the Liar says about anything and everything? #Sad

Well bobby the "proglodyte moron" remains you.....as you are a self confessed progressive (mores the pity)! Again....all this unpleasantness could have been avoided if you guys had just run someone electable!

OMG......hysterical if true!

Donald Trump Didn’t Want to Be President

......and she still couldn’t beat him!

Robert Cross

Hillary ain't the prez, fishy.. your guy trump is..Why don't conservatives take responsibility for their bad judgment. You voted for him and now the onus is on you. Stop trying to deflect your poor decisions with Hillary Hillary Hillary. woulda coulda shoulda doesn't apply. Own up to the fact that you are ideologically crippled and seek professional help. The Dems could have run Jesus and you fools would have still voted for trump. You are a self confessed trumpeter, you know.. gimme the money, lies before truth, treason, collusion, mental illness, WWIII, my button is bigger than your button..

You voted for him and now the onus is on you.

Actually I didn’t.

Stop trying to deflect your poor decisions with Hillary.....

See item #1.

Bill Tozer

1) National healthcare coming to a train wreck near you.

2) This comes as no surprise.

“The authors concluded that 92 percent of the additional crimes recorded could be attributed to the increase in refugee numbers.”

3) This, too, comes as no surprise.

Now the cacophony caused by the “we’re not racist” backslapping has ended, the true implications of a Khan mayoralty are being realised.

Robert Cross

Fish: "Actually I didn’t. [vote for trump}" them why defend him now?

Todd Juvinall

Jeeze for a year all we heard from the left and the democrats was how goofy Bannon is. Now he is their GOD! You cannot make this stuff up. These liberals would bed down satan if he came out against Trump.

Posted by: Robert Cross | 03 January 2018 at 11:29 AM

Because anybody who upsets progressives as much as he does is doing something right!

Bill Tozer

I love Tammy Bruce. Definitely not a faux feminist. Go get ‘em, Tammy.

Alyssa Milano is a famous American feminist who presents herself as a champion for women and the downtrodden. Yet she is reduced to a shivering infant because the president confidently and proudly promotes an agenda that is improving everyone’s lives.

“Hollywood’s smug infant feminists would do well to read Rita Panahi, an Iranian-born Australian and a columnist at the Herald Sun. She wrote, “In Iran, the changes that stripped women of their rights were not accepted without a fight. In 1979, about 100,000 women bravely took to the streets of Tehran to protest the imposition of Islamic law. … Some of the protesters were stabbed by Islamists, others were imprisoned, and ultimately the fight was lost. To see the feminists of the 2017 Women’s March embrace the hijab as a symbol of diversity and empowerment is an affront to many women forced to wear it. Those who fetishise the hijab, niqab and burqa ignore the plight of millions of oppressed women in the Muslim world.””

As the Iranian people rise up and Ms. Milano curls up, the Obama gang echo-chamber is desperately trying to keep Mr. Trump and America from helping the desperate Iranian people. The same ship of fools that sent at least $1 billion dollars in unmarked cash to that terrorist cesspool, is now out in force telling the president to shut up about Iran.

Tell them to go pound sand, Tammy.

Don Bessee

Its the economy you stupid lefties-

I do hope everyone running for Congresscritter will be asked if they would vote for Impeachment if elected and sworn in January 2019. How could anyone face the electorati in November without making this known?

Bill, "Suddenly they think Steve Bannon is credible. Now they believe anything and everything he says. My, things can turn on a dime."

Yes, amazing isn't it Bill.. Just a year ago you folks thought Bannon was God. And now all of a sudden he's liar. With trump things do turn on a dime, friend today enemy tomorrow.

Bill Tozer

Mr. Cross
Politics ain’t for pussies for sure. Neither is it for woosies. Tom wrote a great book, should be a best seller. Good for the economy.

In its review of Wolff's book Burn Rate, Brill's Content criticized Wolff for "apparent factual errors" and said that 13 people, including subjects he mentioned, complained that Wolff had "invented or changed quotes".

In a 2004 cover story for The New Republic, Michelle Cottle wrote that Wolff was "uninterested in the working press," preferring to focus on "the power players—the moguls" and was "fixated on culture, style, buzz, and money, money, money." She also noted that "the scenes in his columns aren’t recreated so much as created—springing from Wolff’s imagination rather than from actual knowledge of events." Calling his writing "a whirlwind of flourishes and tangents and asides that often stray so far from the central point that you begin to wonder whether there is a central point."

“This piece gives us more insight about the twisted worldview of Michael Wolff than it does about The New York Times.

This is one of the most cynical things I’ve read in a long time. It’s disgusting, frankly”

“But seven of the main characters and six others portrayed in-or familiar with-events in the book, disagree. They say Wolff invented or changed quotes. And none of those quoted recalls Wolff taking notes or recording the discussions, some of which took place three years ago.
Wolff says he has notes and e-mail that back him up, but refuses to release them. "I'm sure people are very surprised to see these meetings come back to life," he says. "But that's good writing. That may be great writing."

Yep, should be great reading. Fantastic. Got the libbies falling for it. Good job, Steve, working on the outside in to make the bedwetters look like the "proglodyte morons” they are. I love it. Great TV, keep those monkeys busy trying to hump the football.

Bill Tozer

Mr. Cross:
Yep, everything they say about Trump is true.

Around 2014, I looked at what the R’s were putting out as the next standard barrier. Jeb Bush or another one of the Gang of Eight. No thanks. Low Engery Jeb didn’t even get double digits by the time Trump was through. Pretty Boy Little Marco? Trump beat him in his home state of FLA., lol. Walker faltered on his own. Cruz was hated by the RINO’s more than by the Dems. The Establishment of both parties couldn’t stand the former Democrat Trump , but they really hated Cruz even more. Got down to Trump or Cruz and Trump won the nomination.
Trump was the only one of the final two candidates after the conventions that was more comfortable with cabbies and construction workers than he/she was with their Limousine Liberal Friends. A no-brainer.

Oh, Mr. Cross, I can think of 3 regulars here (not libs or the Green Libertarian)...3 real regulars that are right of center that DID NOT vote for Trump, FYI. And that is just off the top of me melon. That’s about half of the real regulars, according to my finger counting.

But, everything you say about Trump is true. But, no one else could fill his shoes?. The right tool for the right job at the right time. He was elected to stop the Progressive Agenda. Pretty simple.

Yes, Mr. Cross, it’s all true. It’s twue, it’s twue.

Don Bessee

Burning files ahead of the subpoenas?

Don Bessee

What voters really think of the Presidents immigration policies! Special for the po' ol' pollhead-

Don Bessee

So now we know why the President said the button on his desk works-

Don Bessee

This just in....

Bill Tozer

Hmmm. Their vote did count afterall. Their strategy is working just as they said it would.

An ode dedicated to my Libertarian friends. You know who you are.

Bonus: I know you like this stuff as much as I do. It’s priceless beyond my wildest dreams. Sweet. They still don’t get it. It ain’t Trump, Its always been the Deplorables, Irredeemables, those unnamed salt of the earth types, and you that they have taken their rage out upon for years before Trump. They looked down their noses at us. They did not even try to say “hi” to you.
We both have our axes to grind, and we both enjoy the common enemy going stark raving mad. It’s worth all the trouble....for now. SCOTUS will be around long after everything Trump does will be erased. SCOTUS will be his legacy and another tree will be dropped on the tracks. It’s guerrilla warfare, and we are the true resistance. Let them make it all about Trump.

Yo Jake, look over there!

That was fun, but it’s time to ignore them and get moving the ball along. Better than kicking the can.

File this one under " Justify your miserable, and expensive existence."

Remind you of anyone "we" know?

Bill Tozer

Did any else notice that Cabbage Patch Little Rocketman dumped his Mao suit and reopened the hot line to S. Korea after Trump’s last tweet? Anybody with an IQ over 4 knew exactly what that “juvenile” tweet meant. “Don’t threaten us, we can shoot one right up your ass.”

Nice gray suit, Little Kim. Looking good. And nobody thinks for a second that the hotline will accomplish anything. See ya at the Winter Games.

Guess not everybody has an IQ over 4, especially the pundits toward the bottom, where they belong. :)

Yeup, I backed, and voted for the right guy. Takes no crap from anyone. He tells ya' what's on his mind. No dancing the D.C. two step, or the Capital hill jig.
The way things look, he's could be mighty handy with a switchblade, and packs two Darengers. Yup, I got the street fighter I hoped for.

Bill Tozer

.....and anyone with an IQ over six knows that Trump was looking over the head of the Cabbage Patch kid and speaking right into the eyes of China. You can’t look at N. Korea without seeing China.....if your IQ is over 6. Bigger toys for bigger boys.

Hey Punch.....here's your "Single Payer"......enjoy!

"In December, doctors at a VA hospital in Oregon decided to admit an 81-year-old patient. He was dehydrated, malnourished, plagued by skin ulcers and broken ribs — in the medical professionals’ opinion, he was unable to care for himself at home. Administrators, however, overruled them.

Was there no bed for this poor man? No, the facility had plenty of beds; in fact, on an average day, more than half of the beds are empty, awaiting patients. Was there no money or medicine to care for him? No, and no. Reporting by the New York Times suggests that Walter Savage was, perversely, turned away because he was too sick. Very sick patients tend to worsen the performance measures by which VA hospitals are judged.

If this had happened in isolation, we could simply gape at the monstrosity that bureaucracies are occasionally capable of.

But such examples abound in health care. For example, in the 1990s, New York and Pennsylvania started publishing mortality data on hospitals and surgeons who did coronary bypasses. The idea was that more informed consumers would steer themselves toward the teams with the better statistics — theoretically good for patients, bad for slacking providers. The reality was less ideal: In those states, surgeons seem to have started doing more operations on healthier patients, while turning away the sickest ones who might otherwise have benefited.

From this we can take a few lessons. The first is one that has been well-known to other sorts of businesses: What you measure is what you get, not necessarily what you want. In fact, if your measurement is badly designed, you may get a great deal of something you don’t want."

George Rebane

fish 739am - Thanks for that reminder Mr fish. Those stories are all too familiar in Great Britain, and the EU, and also in Canada as we have pointed out in these pages. Nationalized healthcare bureaucrats see no profit in caring for the extra-sick who will just make their numbers look bad, and we must always remember that they get no marginal reward for making a name for themselves going all out for the patients as customers. They know they are a monopoly, the customers have no place else to go.

Speaking of the ill, Jeff Pelline has not floated to the top in his blog bog since his last narcissistic rage three days ago, but Frisch has called George's sanity into question a couple hours ago:
Steven Frisch says:
January 4, 2018 at 8:21 am

“I believe the present state of affairs in the world order are the result of the spontaneously coordinated efforts of fundamental Islam and western socialism’s striving to meet Agenda21 objectives. ” George Rebane.

One does have to think about the basic sanity of some of the commentators."

The thread is "The sociopaths who are internet trolls". Cute, isn't it?

George Rebane

Gregory 1052am - Thanks for the update. I have no idea where or what Frisch posts, but am heartened that he keeps up with the latest on RR ;-)

Todd Juvinall

Well my oh my, the Virginia House will remain in the hands of Republicans after a drawing of names by random selection. I say this is a good sign for future things. LOL!

Happy New Year. BAM! DOW 25,073, triple record closes! That did not take long. ;-)

Don Bessee

Have you had enough winning yet?

Well,,,, Ca. has really peeved the FEDs. You can bet Trump is going to make an example out of Ca. Moonbat and the Proggys thinks they run their own country these days. " WE don't have to listen to what D.C. says." Yet still loves to get the FED handouts.
Weed was just the last "F U" to fly.
Let the FED busts begin. From dope to illegals. It's time law and order gets fixed. "O" and Co. ain't here anymore.

Robert Cross

Gee Walt, I thought you guys are all about states rights like election laws, gun laws, etc. I guess it's like everything else you trumpeters do... cherry pick what ever suits you and screw the rest. What would you have to say if the feds decided to confiscate your AR 15? You would scream like a stuck pig or.... let the assault rifle confiscations begin.

RobertC 435pm - I don't think you can demonstrate that it's as cavalier as you assert. There are certain constitutionally mandated rights and obligations reserved for the federal government, and immigration, foreign policy, and border security are among those. States willing to go crossways on those must be prepared for the consequences from Washington. However, that doesn't give the feds a blanket to pass laws they can't/won't enforce, especially those in areas which are not spelled out in the Constitution. I know it's hard to maintain the liberal narrative and keep consistent on this, but you should at least make a better attempt.

Sorry Jr. Paul is the "states rights" guy. Gun rights you say? In Calif.??? LOL!! Election laws? The LIBS were the ones whining, so Trump says FINE!! "We will look into rigged elections." Who were the first to cry foul?? LIB STATES!! "Uh Never mind!"
Ya. Bobby,, cry me a river.
"State's rights" does not give the "state" the "right" to break FED laws. Jail time may be coming to those politicians. Time will tell.

Washington State. is finding out what teeth the Commerce clause has.
Wash. refuses to allow coal exports. Sorry,,can't block it because you don't like it.

Got guns? Like to grow or smoke dope? Better pick which is more important. ( I'm kinda like my 2ND Amend.)
The state isn't going to save you from the FEDS when and if the "G" man comes calling. ( dope and guns at the same time makes you a felon when caught.)

Yes, Donni I get a sense of pride every time you quote Dow records, and low unemployment figures knowing the it is all because of Obama!!!

Keep dreaming PVT.

Now for some ethnic humor.
My Norwegian friend will like it.
"The Battle of Copenhagen"

Ten thousand Swedes ran through the weeds,
chased by one norwegian.
Ten thousand more ran to the shore
in the battle of Copenhagen.

Way, way back in history,
back when the world was new,
norwegian searched all over,
to find some snoose to chew.

They fished for Lutefisk and Torsk,
it helped to make them strong,
and you and me, we know a Norsk,
cannot do nothing wrong.

But swedes and danes were envious
of Viking trips and raids.
The Viking shields and helmet horns,
made all those folks affraid.

Throughout the world the Vikings sailed,
to Ireland and to France.
The even found America,
one afternoon by chance.

My grandpa says, and he should know,
the swedes made up the minds.
To beat the Norsky Vikings,
and kick a few behinds.

But history, so grandpa says,
show that the Norskies won.
They clobbered all the swedes and danes,
and made it lots of fun.

Ten thousand swedes ran through the weeds,
chased by one norwegian.

The dust from the weeds,
made snoose for the swedes,
and they called it Copenhagen,

Sessions mandate is a dream come true for the renegade pot growers. Interfere with the legalization choice of states and leave the states with an an unenforceable federal law that the states won't enforce. No matter what Sessions does pot won't be against State law and the States have no business enforcing federal law. Imagine teams of feds running around he Ridge? What a joke.

Colorado is pissed. Just saw the Governor on TV railing agaisnt Sessions. Also the Repub Senator of Colorado is threatening to take action and hold up appointments.

"Three days after California legalized the use of recreational marijuana, Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday indicated he intends to reverse an Obama-era federal policy that discouraged federal prosecution of the drug in states where it was legal.

Lawmakers in states that have legalized the drug for medical and/or recreational purposes reacted negatively to the news, many of them calling out Sessions’ inconsistency on states’ rights.

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), whose state legalized recreational use of the drug in 2012, called out the attorney general in a fiery speech on the Senate floor Thursday, claiming Sessions has gone back on a private assurance he gave before his confirmation at the Justice Department.

Gardner also railed against the Trump administration’s habit of making drastic policy changes on a dime......

“This must be left up to the states,” Gardner had tweeted earlier, adding that he is “prepared to take all steps necessary,” including holding up Justice Department nominees, until Sessions stands down."

How did that work out on highway speed limits ya po' ol' fakenewsman @756? I believe the public is intrigued with your sudden respect for legislators involved in the vast right wing conspiracy. So we can take from that you support their positions on abortion and gun rights? ;-)

Paul Emery

Don't have a clue about what you're talking about. Just reflecting Sen Gardners position on Pot.

Bill Tozer

There is no mention of marijuana in the Constitution, nor nary a word about Social Security. There are, however, mentions of the right to bear arms, which states have no say about, and the Federal government exclusive role in immigration policy, which again, states have no say about.

Some things belong under the Fed’s preview, others under Federalism....in a perfect world. Most counties will be lucky to get 11-19% of the renegade growers to come out of the cold and go legit anyway. Controlled seed to end product. The recreational dispensaries now open do not sell to customers anything close to an ounce. Grams. Still $250 a pound on the ridge, by the garbage bag......
