Jessica Levinson, a professor of law and political ethics at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles — and the current president of the Los Angeles Ethics Commission — said that, if proven true, the accusations against Garcia threaten to seriously damage the nationwide movement that has been credited with bringing the issue of sexual harassment into the open.
“Hypocrisy knows no bounds and no partisanship, it crosses all party affiliations,’’ she said. “To the extent that these are substantiated claims, there’s a picture of Cristina Garcia as a hypocrite in the dictionary.”

The OODA Loop President

This is for the fighter pilots and former military strategists!

Richard Fernandez of the Belmont Club. In a piece he wrote in December 2016, just prior to Trump’s inauguration as our 45th President and in the context of Trump’s signaling with respect to what should be our posture with China, Fernandez wrote that:

The Democratic Party should stop underestimating Donald Trump. The good news is that he moves at nongovernment speed. The bad news is that, due to his outsider status, nobody knows exactly where he is going.

Fernandez, like McLaughlin the year before, was noting the uptempo speed of Trump. McLaughlin’s discussion of Trump’s use of the OODA Loop, correctly noted that speed lies at the core of Boyd’s theory of conflict, and has been the most influential element of Boyd’s strategic thinking. Further, “Boyd’s core insight was about the interactive and disruptive nature of speed on human decision-making: success in conflict can be rapid and dramatic if one can “operate inside the OODA Loop” of the opponent.”

When you begin to understand this, you’re well on your way to understanding our 45th president.

The Op-Ed is a collection of climate change disinformation that can be best countered by displaying the actual data for the reader to make their own decision. Sea level rise is not accelerating, ice core temperatures rose before the increase in CO2, storms are not increasing, and volcanos are melting Antarctic ice, not warming air temperatures. I will present the graphics at https://sierrafoothillcommentary.com for those interested in the facts this weekend, or sooner if I find the time.

re MAGA 812am - It is clear how leftwing blinders work. The just passed spending bill was a bipartisan accomplishment (listen to Schumer) that contained almost equal amounts of deficit spending required by Republicans and Democrats. Well, if the fake baseless Russian Collusion story can’t take down Trump, #MeToo will try to get the job done. More hearings!

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) said Sunday she believes Congress should hold President Trump accountable for the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against him.

“I think he should resign, and if he’s unwilling to do that, which is what I assume, then Congress should hold him accountable. We’re obligated to have hearings,” Gillibrand said in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

https://hotair.com/archives/2018/02/12/gillibrand-trump-needs-resign-well-take-action/

#Metoo champion?

Of course, while she may have been “among the first” that wasn’t her initial reaction. When several women accused Franken, she initially said she found the accusations “deeply concerning,” and that she expected, “to hear more from Sen. Franken.” Weeks later, on November 30th, after saying that Bill Clinton should have resigned, the Senator was again asked if Franken should resign. She responded by saying, “It’s his decision.”

By December 5th, coming up on a month after the story began and five women had come forward, Gillibrand was given another bite at the apple and had no comment beyond, “I’m not going to say that today.” Of course, she eventually did come out and call for him to resign, but many of her colleagues expressed remorse over the move.

After four years as an Obama appointee as a US Attorney, he got an Obama appointment to the federal bench, less than three years ago... only to find ICE detainers to be without authority in a lawsuit that predates Trump's inauguration.

The only Latino judge Trump accused of bias actually was a La Raza activist (think Mexican KKK) whose thumb was on the scale, arguably on every one of his rulings in the Trump U. civil case. Trump gave up and settled, limiting his losses. Another partisan Democrat with a gavel.

Bill Tozer

The cost of the Wall would pay for itself in just one year if you offset the costs of giving illegals tax payed funded safety net freebies (including education) and, of course, incarceration costs. 23% of all inmates in the Federal Prison System are illegals. Illegals have a higher criminal rate than lawful immigrants or the general population at large.

Sure, every country, population, and demographic has its criminal element. Every one. If say for sake of agrument, 10% of illegals are criminals. Say, building the Wall only stops only 10% of the illegal aliens trying to break into our country. That means we just reduced crime. With 2,300 illegal aliens in the CA prison system doing time for homicide, that alone means we just saved 23 Americans from being murdered. Now, say the Wall stops 40-50% of the illegals crossing via the overland route. More lives saved, more money saved.

There is no such thing as a law abiding illegal alien by definition. There is such a thing as legal immigrants, be they law abiding or not. Gotta start somewhere.

When looking at where unaccompanied children are from, there have been substantially more apprehensions among those from Guatemala (9,383) and El Salvador (7,914) than Honduras (4,224) during the first six months of fiscal 2016. In 2014, Honduras was the leader in the number of unaccompanied minors apprehended.

U.S. government officials have started to prepare for a possible increase in migration from Central America this summer. For example, the Department of Health and Human Services has requested additional contingency funding from Congress to shelter apprehended children. In addition, the governor of Texas extended the deployment of the state’s National Guard at the border with Mexico in December, which coincided with a spike that month in border apprehensions."

Xeno, Warrior Princess, 406 and 411

I'm not sure what relevance to reality the info you linked have to Trump in generall and The Wall in particular...

What do border apprehension of "Mexican Citizens" per 100,000 of Mexicans in Mexico through 2016 have to do with Trump and The Wall? Or an increase of unaccompanied minors forecast from Central America before Trump took office?

Just comparing writing styles, I have to ask... are you Michael P. Anderson of Nevada City?

George Rebane

xeno 411pm - I'm not sure you understand the Pew data. Apprehensions represent a very small fraction (5-10% by one count) of the number of illegal entrants who disappear into our country's ethnic societies. And there are a number of reasons having to do with Border Patrol operations why apprehensions vary, none of which have much to do with the number of people crawling under/over the fence. That information comes directly from the BP itself.

Here's a survey, just wondering what people think... who were the indisputable bad boys of the Balkans in the 20th Century?

Croats?
Bosnians?
Serbians?
Kosovars?

Drugs in the White House! Cocaine, LSD, and smoking crack in the White House.
Some things don’t change with the Dems:

“We cannot do business here with a speaker of the House who is going to engage in these kinds of unfounded allegations," fumed Leon Panetta, the White House chief of staff. He lashed Gingrich for "behaving like an out-of-control radio talk-show host," for making an "absolutely false" accusation, for trafficking in "smear and innuendo."

Clinton adviser George Stephanopoulos labeled Gingrich "irresponsible." Hillary Clinton: "So unfair." Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers: "Reckless charges."

The media agreed. Panetta's heated denunciations were played up big. Few reporters paused to wonder if the gentleman did protest too much -- or if Gingrich's tip bore looking into. On dozens of editorial pages, there were comparisons to the most infamous demagogue in American history. The Georgia Republican's words, said Newsday, were "laced with the kind of innuendo that fueled McCarthy's witchhunt." Herblock, the Washington Post's venerable cartoonist, portrayed Gingrich as McCarthy, cruelly blackening reputations with a broad brush.

Now, 19 months later, it turns out that Gingrich was basically telling the truth and Panetta was lying through his teeth. Shouldn't last week's stories have so noted? It isn't every day that Secret Service agents give evidence under oath of a widespread history of "cocaine usage ... hallucinogenic usages, crack usages" among White House employees. Did no reporter remember how Gingrich had been vilified when he raised the subject a year and a half earlier?“

The Susan Rice e-mail to herself on Inauguration Day is weirdo stuff. Smells fishy at first glance, if not downright lame, amateurish, and like playing hide-n-seek with a child who giggles behind the curtain when you walk by looking for her playing the game. Lame.

She is vacating her office, post, and work computer in a couple of hours and never coming back.. No means to retrieve her e-mail or get back into that server, leaving the last thing (or first thing) for the new Administration and holdovers to find. She wanted to put something in the record that happened 2 weeks earlier. Weirdo stuff.

Opening paragraph.: “President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book’. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”

Get it. By the book. By the book used in both sentences. Got it loud and clear. Guess that means I should put the date Jan 5, 2018 in the memory bank and let ‘er ride. Did like the Senators’ questions to Ms. Rice.

Not to mention Jan. 5, 2017.

re Susan Rice selfie email - Let's hear from those who don't think this is the most significant yet lame CYA attempt by any administration. Can anyone imagine how stupid Rice thought the eventual readers of this email would be? Can you really? Or do progressives think that this little piece of email legerdemain would really do the cover up trick for their constituencies?

Looking into my murky crystal ball, the Dems will not go for immigration reform with the Wall in and with extended family free passes (formerly called chain migration) out. No way Jose.
Heard Lindsay Graham authored some bill to take the lottery and stick it somewhere in some bureaucracy safe place alive and well, but out of sight and out of mind.....as well as being called something else. And changing DACA cutoffs from coming here 16 years old and younger to 18 and under.

Anyway, here is some good news on the topic. I don’t see anyway problem here. No way will the Dems go for it. Gee, I hardly got to know ya.

What happened to the Kosovars? Hmmm. Serbians established their home in Bosnia, yet lost territory in Serbia. Bohemia and Macedonia not on the list. Ok, answer is.....drumroll please....Transylvania, known for bloodthirsty vampire bats and howling wolves. Only the badass lived there.

A truly great interview on NPR yesterday morning, a cognitive scientist (the real thing) on early reading. A snippet from the transcript:

"Success in reading depends on linking print to speech. There's a massive amount of behavioral research, neuroimaging research, on brain organization and brain development, which conclusively shows that skilled reading is associated with children's spoken language, grammar and the vocabulary they already know. It's about teaching kids the correspondence between the letters on a page and the sounds of words."

-"And you're saying that teachers don't know this?"

"This basic science does not go into the preparation of teachers. More often they're told it's not really relevant, that the science is sterile and has no connection with what teachers do in the classroom.

What I point out in the book is that in order to grasp the research, [teachers] need basic scientific literacy to be able to understand it. They can dismiss [what I'm saying] or they can share my outrage ... The reading wars are over and science lost. Phonics is just one specific component of learning to read that's important at a particular point in a child's development. The reading wars did not focus on this, so the conflict was set up in a bogus way."

Mikey Wanna 245pm, it's the Trump slump. The gunners amongst us are not worried about the 2nd Amendment no mo' and so the money isn't flowing into guns and ammo as much as before... and Remington Arms, that's been around for over 200 years, has some restructuring to do to bring revenue back into line with expenses. Chapter 11, not a Chapter 7 shutdown.

Dr Rebane @ 10:48am.....the Susan Rice selfie e-mail

The second part:

“The President asked Comey to inform him if anything changes in the next few weeks that should affect how we share classified information with the incoming team. Comey said he would.”

Comey said he would. Jan 5, 2017.
So, Obama knew, Sally Yates knew, Rice knew, Clapper knew, Joe Biden knew, the NYT knew, Comey knew, Lynch had to know about the “wiretapping” of Trump into Russian Collusion.

That date is significant because this meeting took place the day before Comey and the FBI visited Trump Tower to brief the president-elect on the investigation and the dossier, which had already been used to justify surveillance of Trump’s campaign. As Rice indicates, the meeting participants debated what and how much to tell Trump — Obama wanted to hide some things.

“Comey said he would.” Hmmm. Ok, let’s get a bigger picture. There is no one to investigate what happened. Count on the FBI investigate itself? Justice Department? No, Sessions recused himself. The CIA? Nope, no prosecutorial power.

Who then is left to investigate except Mueller? Who besides another Special Counsel? Answer: nobody.
