Trump 51% approval, Rasmussen reports

jon smith

Do "family values" or even "biblical values" mean anything to the "conservatives" any more? If not, your whole sanctity of life merit badge gets flushed down the drain. Or, do the "conservatives" get to pick and choose which biblical values they ascribe to on any given time on any given day and that's okay with God.

Don't "answer" with some BS about what about Bill, Hillary . . . Kennedy (pick a red herring)

George Rebane

jons 833am - Everyone always gets to pick and choose which values they want to honor when - and then get pre/judged on their choices by friend and foe alike. You're not suggesting that this is a problem for only one side of the ideological spectrum, are you?

Bill Tozer

There is jonnie boy again telling us what can and cannot post. Oh my, let the hate for Christians ooze out of those pores. Beginning to sound like Steve there jon.

Of course you are correct; however, the conservatives chose to hitch their wagon to Christian and Family values. It is their claimed identity and at least since Reagan us non conservatives have been battered over the head with your "righteousness."

Of course the same conservatives have now chosen to identify themselves as "patriots" and anyone who doesn't agree with their party's dogma is nearly guilty of treason. Us against them. Them being anyone not in the Christian Republican empire.

The exact non answer pivot we were expecting. Next thing we'll hear from Todd that adultery is a traditional family value condoned by the bible.

Gregory

Re GOP "righteousness"

That was generally a straw man tossed back at the GOP by Dems. At least that's what I thought at the time, being neither DEM or GOP.

""Of course the same conservatives have now chosen to identify themselves as "patriots" and anyone who doesn't agree with their party's dogma is nearly guilty of treason."

Golly, this is a from a sock puppet animated by a guy who was claiming not long ago that it was treasonous to not be with him agitating for Trump's removal, citing Russian involvement in the election?

I get it, your Christian thing. You must be referring to the Crusades or the Catholic infestation of South America that led to the genocide of native peoples. Good job Scenes.

Todd Juvinall

JonnieSmith is trying to make people think he has ethics and moral values as a secular progressive. Sorry we don't believe your phony outrage. What I like about the Republicans in all this is they have "turned the other cheek" and have forgiveness for those that transgress their Christian teachings. Liberals want to shoot those people. We have the high ground jonnieSmith, you have the low ground bub.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery and jonnieSmith are getting ready to do their naked dance on the rocks at the Yuba to celebrate their Druid faith. Don't fall in! And please, don't kill the goat it deserves to live.

Bill Tozer

Ah, the Crusades again. They always bring that up, every time. When I was in college, I wrote a paper about Christian missionaries making the darkies wear clothing, which kinda wiped some of the natives out because they had no natural defense to the viruses and diseases that clothing trapped some toxic bacteria on therir skins. The law of unintended consequences for the sake of Victorian modesty. And, of course, the small pox blankets passed out to the Redskins here in North America. And lets not forget the CA missions on El Camino de la Luz, one day’s mule ride apart...built by the slave/forced labor of the captured indigenousness tribes, aka, the half naked folk. The acron eaters.

Then my studies of hating on Christianity took me to the real gold mine Foxe's Book of Martyrs when folks were slaughter for reading the Bible which the Catholic Church put the good book under lock and key, only to be opened by the enlightened clergy. Many were killed for “calling on the name of the Lord” with faces aglow, just like Stephen.

Well, all that finger pointing and condemnation got me nowhere, except smug righteousness and looking down on others.....to neatly avoid that my own life was a wreck, drifting aminless like a ship without a rudder, content in my holier than thou attitude and wholesale condemnation.

The biggest threat today to the gays, civil rights, women, children, etc, does not come from the Christian Right. It comes from Islamo-fascists and the alt-Left.

Yes, I pointed out the evils of the Crusades and slammed Christians and Christianity for that since 1971, lol. The Crusades? Lasted 300 years, starting around 1200 AD...800 years ago.

And so the fall begins -

A federal judge on Friday harshly rebuked Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team during a hearing for ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort – suggesting they lied about the scope of the investigation, are seeking “unfettered power” and are more interested in bringing down the president.

The judge also gave the government two weeks to hand over the unredacted “scope memo” or provide an explanation why not -- after prosecutors were reluctant to do so, claiming it has material that doesn’t pertain to Manafort.

Todd 10:33
"You are either with us or against us" preached by an avid Christian conservative.

Are you a Christian conservative Todd? How many times are you allowed to commit adultery and still be considered a good Christian conservative? Can you put a number on it? Or is yours the kind of religion where you can defile the 10 commandments, pay a toll at the alter for forgiveness, and then come Monday morning spend your get out of jail free card for another week of adultery and bestiality?

Todd Juvinall

Oh jonniesmith 1147, never committed adultery like you do all the time. People see you with a woman not your wife all the time. And your dancing needs to be improved. Paul Emery can teach you that. And your goat sacrifices for your religion are a bit passe' now. Hell you can get money for the goat if you cook it right. As far as Christians, it is my recollection that "forgiveness" of sins is very Jesus. Does your goat sacrifice cleanse you of yours?

Bill Tozer

Well, life would be less cumbersome if those beastly males would just zip it up. Finances and romances are the two top reasons of divorce. sex and money, $ and sex.

I feel that financial infidelity does as much destruction to a relationship than sexual infidelity, if not more. One partner has a spending problem, hides it from the mate, lies about it, and ruins all trust. Known many a person who finds out later their mate has secretly run up 20k-50k in credit card debt, and worse. Then dodging creditors and still runs to the ATM to do Impulse Buying...allthewhile hiding it from their beloved mate.
This is after the couple has sat down together, set a budget and goals to attain, save for the rainy day fund and their future in the Golden Years. All gone, only deceit and deception remains. One spouse financially cheats and ruins all trust, respect, and mortgages their future for selfish reasons. They say respect is the ornament t on the tree of love.

In a perfect world, couples would never cheat on the other....and then try to cover it up. In some cases, it is probably better to not confess to the unknowing spouse because of the damage it does to the unsuspecting mate...if it was a one-off. The man’s confession to rid his guilt can indeed do not harm than good. Very complicated topics.

Yep, if people would just stop buggering each other outsides the confines of Holy Matrimony, then life would be less complicated for sure. And some guys get so horney that the crack of dawn ain’t safe. And there is the allure of tasting the forbidden fruit..for both man and woman.

As former Governor of Colorado Roy Romer once uttered (caught on audio tape), if gays would stop buggering each other, the AIDS epidemic would disappear.
If only life’s problems were that simple.

There is something about powerful men and men in power that have these powerful sex drives....from sports stars, to celebrities, to CEOs, to politicians. A well documented correlation.

scenes

Paul, the non-judgmental voice of reason sez:

"I get it, your Christian thing. You must be referring to the Crusades or the Catholic infestation of South America that led to the genocide of native peoples. Good job Scenes."

Exactly. It doesn't much matter to me that Mesoamerica was filled with cultures that make the Spanish Inquisition look like Mr. Rogers, comparing relative virtues of a people is something of a waste of time. The Spanish did a bonafide job of conquering and then were mostly swept up in a demographics wave from the locals.

An alternative view is that there is some idea of 'native' people. Of course, the folks who make that argument have no clue that the Sioux aren't native to their current chunk of land, the Bantu only recently showed up in South Africa, Arabs and Islam are fairly new to most of their region.

In any case, I appreciate the difference in opinion. My own philosophy is that you got to dance with them what brung you. The traditional West strikes me as something worth saving. The other half of the electorate is a mish-mash of identity politics who want to dance on (and feed off of) the corpse.

jon smith

Bill 12:06
"There is something about powerful men and men in power that have these powerful sex drives....from sports stars, to celebrities, to CEOs, to politicians."

The bind that ties all of the above is an insatiable ego driven by deep insecurities. Once on top they believe the rules no longer apply to them and they are immune to the rules. When the chickens come home to roost, as a certainly supervisor will attest, they fall from the top and bloom is off the rose. They become mere mortals and are unable to achieve the "greatness" they once felt belonged to them. They end up their pitiful lives trying to assuage their egos and mask the insecurities with improper sex, drugs, and other acts of self destruction. When they look into the mirror they alone see themselves as great, when the rest of us look at them with pity and scorn.

WASHINGTON — John Kerry’s bid to save one of his most significant accomplishments as secretary of state took him to New York on a Sunday afternoon two weeks ago, where, more than a year after he left office, he engaged in some unusual shadow diplomacy with a top-ranking Iranian official.
He sat down at the United Nations with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to discuss ways of preserving the pact limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It was the second time in about two months that the two had met to strategize over salvaging a deal they spent years negotiating during the Obama administration, according to a person briefed on the meetings.

You know, that could be, although my own mind reading abilities are poor.

The thing is, something like that may well be necessary to actually get things done. Everyone else follows in the wake of crazy, accomplished people.

I strongly suspect that that is also strongly tied to gender, with one result being a (probably) permanent lack of women at the top of the heap.

Quotes: Saved the best for last, but the first one is kinda on the current theme.

“If they had the chance, I actually think the Democrats would put a crown of thorns on Trump’s head, make him carry his own cross and send him to be crucified. On national TV.” —Michael Reagan

Re: the Left: “The idea that partisans and journalists who’ve made a living using favorable leaks regarding the investigations into the Trump administration are suddenly concerned about the sanctity of a criminal investigation is ludicrous.” —David Harsanyi

For the record: “Some Democrats complained about [Mike] Pompeo’s stances on gay issues. But they’re the party that blocked for seven months the nomination of a gay ambassador to Germany, Ric Grenell.” —Michael Barone

Upright: “If Trump wants to succeed, he must want a deal less than Kim [Jong-un] does. He must be willing to walk away and to make Kim understand that he is serious about a military option if negotiations fail. He can’t do so if he is even remotely thinking about a Nobel. Winning a Nobel Prize is irrelevant. Reagan never got a Nobel, but he is remembered as the president who brought about the peaceful collapse of the Soviet Union and won the Cold War. Barack Obama, by contrast, won a Nobel Prize just nine months after taking office for doing nothing (except not being George W. Bush). Simply by forcing North Korea to the negotiating table, Trump has already done more to deserve the prize than Obama did.” —Marc A. Thiessen

The equivalent of asking for war: “Reinstating the federal assault weapons ban that was in effect from 1994 to 2004 would prohibit manufacture and sales, but it would not affect weapons already possessed. This would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come. Instead, we should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.” —Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)

The BIG Lie: “On this panel, no one — as far as I could tell — has ever said anything negative about Trump voters.” —"The View’s" delirious Joy Behar

nah. As I remember, it was just a few cosmetic things. Easy enough to design around.

Aah, here we go:
https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-103hr3355enr/pdf/BILLS-103hr3355enr.pdf

(B) a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept
a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of—
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath
the action of the weapon;
(iii) a bayonet mount;
(iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed
to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
(v) a grenade launcher;

I mean, seriously, who writes these things? The funny thing is how the Legend of the Assault Rifle Ban has grown into something it never was.

The dumbest one was the 1989 Federal rule, though.

I called it that for a reason. I can find 100 places on forums where anti-gun politics goes on and that term is used. It's a dimly remembered (well, probably not remembered at all) time in the mystical past when the Good Guys banned all the children killin' AR47 assault rifles.

To be fair, you can change a word to mean anything you want.

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

The important thing is the term as a PR move, it has that fine sound of illegal aggressive action. I expect it will come to mean any semiauto over a certain length. Dunno how they plan to work those AR15 looking pump action guns into the rubric.

In any case, I digress. Given that I have no interest in hearing from gun control people about their thoughts on the matter, it's all just a waste of typing.

"Honestly you have to do better than reprinting the leftwing extremist DailyKos propaganda Nancy. And for you, a secular atheist to preach about Jesus is rich. Liberals don't believe in Jesus but they do believe in a vagina cap. My goodness for every dopey allegation you proclaim here I could give a counter. But it is of no use to a liberal hater. Admit it, you have Trump derangement syndrome and there is no cure for you and your ilk.

Trump has turned the country around from the failures of Obama and the democrats. Bernie Sanders is now screeching about free money for all and free this and that =even for a job. Do you realize every time you liberal loons print this tripe another million people come over to the light and support us on the right?

All the folks Trump has hired and fired reflect real life. If he thinks someone is a good fit he hires them. If it doesn’t work out he fires them. Just like real life. Liberals will promote their scofflaws and one only has to see the corrupt Obama regime for proof of that. All the wrong doing and most of them were promoted.

Republicans and conservatives want people to be free. Free from you ordering their lives for them. My goodness you are all about making people dependent on the government so you can control them and get their vote. We want to teach them to fish. You want to take our fish and give it away by force. There is a whole lot of difference between we on the right and you on the left. Bottom line is you think you have the right to take a free people's stuff and give it to whomever you favor. That is called communism/socialism. Americans don't like that.

And for you to complain about ethics is a total joke. You support Newsom and Villaraigosa for Governor and both are drunks and womanizers. Newsom even had a sexual affair with his best friends wife. My goodness, not a peep from you. And Lois Lerner tossing conservative groups requests before Obama’s re-election? You praise that criminal. And Bill Clinton Is your hero. The man is constantly flying to Pedo Island with his pal Epstein. While Hillary is selling our countries uranium to the Russians. Not a peep. So when you secular atheists start getting some ethics that Jesus taught, don’t be preaching to us. We already know."

I've read that at the camps in the Kolyma region, you could expect to have your butt pinched to see if you had enough body fat for heavy labor. My guess is that Michael Moore would have easily qualified if he had gotten to live in a country heavily influenced by Mr. Marx.

"Although capitalism is brutally alive & well, the next generations will not tolerate its cruelty & greed."
'It's' cruelty and greed? Humans can be cruel and greedy no matter how much money they have or what sort of economic system they are in but a type of economic system can not be cruel or greedy.
Mikey Moore makes his money off the idiot rubes. But only in a capitalist system.
Anywhere else he'd be a janitor.

If you build it they will come -

Official say the recent legalization of cannabis for California adults 21 and over is directly contributing to the recent spate of home invasions in the North Bay.
“The only clarity we know is that word has gotten out that marijuana in California is abundant and it’s easy to get,” said Sgt. Spencer Crum, a spokesman for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. “And it’s way more profitable in the areas where they live, where it’s illegal.”
A man from Miami was arrested Thursday in Oakland for Wednesday’s robbery. The second suspect remains at large, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities in March arrested seven men from North Carolina and Virginia for allegedly invading three homes in Petaluma to steal marijuana.

Aha. A new word, “pettifoggery”. Cool. Like our Popinjay spending 6 straight hours carrying on and on about Melania’s shoes. Hard to top that one. That’s one for the record books. Anyway, on with pettifoggery.

"Defendant voluntarily appeared through counsel as provided for in [federal rules], and further intends to enter a plea of not guilty. Defendant has not sought a limited appearance nor has it moved to quash the summons. As such, the briefing sought by the Special Counsel’s motion is pettifoggery," Dubelier and Seikaly wrote.

OH Walt, the haters aren't going to read so lets make it easy so they can feel the burn -

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” New York Times columnist David Brooks said that the GOP tax bill is working better than he thought it would and the evidence “seems to be that what the Trump people told us would happen is happening, that companies are reinvesting the money.”
Brooks stated, “I was against the Trump tax cuts. But the early evidence is that they’re working better than I thought. And so, in the first quarter, among S&P companies, capital expenditures are up 39 percent. That’s a seven-year high. That’s far higher than a lot of us thought. Stock buybacks, which is just giving people — to shareholders, that’s only 16 percent. So the evidence from just the first quarter seems to be that what the Trump people told us would happen is happening, that companies are reinvesting the money.

We note again the one=sidedness of anything and everything to do with the Left's reactions to whatever they oppose. Were the Right to reciprocate, the government gun would immediately be brought to bear on the basis of 'hate speech', 'racism', ... . The Left wants to subjugate the Right; the Right wants the Left to practice their governance on their own people in their own land. How do we accomplish the Great Divide?

scenes

[email protected]:49AM

You can partly explain away the current insanity of the Left, especially the professional Left, in that they feel cheated. It looked like an open field from here on, one Obama after the other, the death of nationalism, each special interest group getting their cut, but then this Deplorable thing happened. For some reason the loss of something you thought was in your grasp is worse than one that is a stretch, a kind of fallacy of possibilities.

In terms of division, I can see where the internet was serving as one model for that. As we spend more time online, perhaps even with surgical connections or as a brain-in-a-jar at some point, you'd think that the space would be unlimited in size. It turns out that the Left has pursued the Right even here. Speech rules in the EU (especially the UK), near-monopoly power from both social media and the internet substrate, even something as trivial as who gets to post on youtube, this is a battlefield as much as anything on land and in terms of relationships to large companies is one that is probably already lost. Who knew that the web oligarchs would be Left activists? It wasn't a preordained result.

Hell man, they've even carried the fight to the world of open source software.

Bill Tozer

“Hell man, they've even carried the fight to the world of open source software.”

Yep, it appears they are many, we are few. There are big, we are small. Lest we forget, the Deplorable thang won the National popular vote in 2016, excluding our Golden State.

The Left just has more powerful microphones and sound systems. The biggies, monopolies, if you will. Ah hell, not if you will. A fact. Education, Media, Entertainment world, in government from school boards to embedded in the highest departments and offices...and the beautiful people in all the correct puppeteer positions. How can we possibly combat so many mighty armies that surround us?
A: they don’t call us ugly people Deplorables fer nuthin’. And, lest we forget, we do have one man and his Twitter machine that is guareented to suck all the air out of the room and always commands center stage. It appears a counterbalance is all we got. Sometimes I feel like grade school kids throwing a bucket of stones at an active shooter. Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it. Some of those stones to the forehead can make you see stars.

One for the aircraft guys.
Something flew out of Bremerton Africa (non stop) and is now over Dutch flat taking in the sights. ( in a wild flight pattern)
It show up on the flight tracker just as "N". I hope they check in with customs.
Never know when weird things happen..

Bill Tozer

Walt. Did you see those 4 fighter jets in formation last Sat around noon. I was off Chuck Yeager seeing a friend and it was straight up overhead as I got out of my old beater. Perfect timing. Cool beans...

Walt

I missed looking up at'm,, but I did hear'm.

A few weeks ago I was looking at a job for some dope growers.
WAY out at the far South end of the county. Let's just say they were not from around here.. Nice guys none the less. There was a roar coming from Beale.(just engine testing.. You know the sound.)
I had to explain it to them. All they could think of was nukes.
"They still have them?,, Bombers there too?"
They had good reason to be a little rattled because of where they used to call home. I will just say,, Muslims ain't their friends.
Not quite the nationality you would expect to see dreadlocks on.

Walt - I give up. Where is Bremerton, Africa? In South Africa?

Bill Tozer

I will keep beating this drum.

And while it might also come as a surprise to some people, Congress — a separate, co-equal branch of government run, for the moment, by Republicans — is tasked with oversight of the executive branch, which includes the Justice Department. Now, you may deem Congress scandalously incompetent or hopelessly partisan, but it’s within the purview of a congressional committee to ask the FBI for documents pertaining to an ongoing investigation. Congress isn’t breaking the law or “extorting” anyone by asking for more transparency, as Rosenstein recently asserted.

Yet most Democrats (and #NeverTrumpers) have taken the exceptionally convenient position that not only should the president (well, this president) not have a say over the goings-on at the Justice Department but Congress (well, this Congress) also has no right to demand oversight. Most of the media frame their work accordingly, creating the impression the FBI doesn’t answer to anyone.

Or.....

Or maybe Mueller will uncover criminality. Maybe Trump will abuse his office in an effort to bury the investigation. If the House believes so, it can impeach the president. If the Senate believes so, it can remove him. If the Republicans believe it, they can nominate someone else. If the American people agree, they can elect another president. This is all proper. But changing how government works by effectively stripping embedded constitutional oversights for political reasons is just another kind of corruption.

Walt

Scott. That was what was named of the flight's origin. I did trace it back to the Eastern side of Africa. Either the nation of,South Africa, or the nation (this week) above it. Hell.. I can't even find it now.
Whatever kind of aircraft it was fell off the radar West of Dutch Flat. No aircraft ID either, and the stated speed was only 60 knots.

It was just luck of the draw that I even looked at that blip on the screen.
Even the flight tack back to Africa was a head scratchier. It looked like a satellite track. (from point of origin, headed North by N.West, all the way up into Canada, the back down this way)

Just another observation never to be explained.

Bill Tozer

Scott.

I believe it is near Kiss, Mozambique....as in kiss Bremerton, Africa goodbye. Oh tell the writer to Kiss my rosy behind.
Nah, actually Bremerton is in Washington State along the Left coast. That whole Left Coast is sorta like a foreign country, except with all the riff-raff included.

Walt

I do believe Bill found the nation "of the week". I think I located the offending aircraft. It's currently flying drunk South of Lincoln. And CHP23 is staying close.

Paul Emery

They never learn. Trump is pushing for "regime change".
the lessons of Bush in iraq and Obama in Syria and Libya fall on deaf ears. \

"Rudy Giuliani pushed for regime change in Iran on Saturday, saying President Donald Trump is “as committed to regime change as we are.”

It's “the only way to peace in the Middle East” and “more important than an Israeli-Palestinian deal,” Giuliani, Trump’s newest attorney in the ongoing Russia probe and a former mayor of New York City, told reporters after giving a speech to the Iran Freedom Convention for Democracy and Human Rights in Washington.

Walt

Don't fret Paul, Trump has been able to do what no other has.
Every time you have sold Trump short, it's come back to bite.

The political Rube Goldberg machine is out of service at the moment.
Trump has replaced it with his own "Gitter' done" app. It's been running at pretty much max efficiency since before Trump took office, and picking up steam.

Don Bessee

Even the liberals are coming around -

During a recent dinner, a liberal friend gave me a shock. “I didn’t vote for Trump,” she said, “but I have to admit I like that our country is on top again. I’m proud that we’re the most powerful country and that others respect our power.”

"creating the impression the FBI doesn’t answer to anyone."

At the risk of being boring about it, the whole deal smells to me like the national security apparatus is using this as a break-out to become a 4th branch of government, and likely a dominant one.

Perhaps they'll settle down to the model of a banana republic military (which are never bonafide armies) which pops out and sets things right every few years.

I'll bet that Paul never thought he would be bosom buddies with the FBI at some point in his life. It's the era of strange bedfellows.

do you believe the Congress (House and Senate) should have access to information gained by the DOJ on criminal investigations and should they be able to distribute that information to the President?
