Ok, have had a sip of coffee, Punch obviously was talking about an unborn human fetus (Latin for "bambino"). I'm expecting by "human life" Punch means a human life with protection under the law as a person.

If the unborn person is killed by a firearm wielding maniac intent on killing the unborn bambino and it's mother... at what point are there two murders under the law, rather than one... is that your question?

Reporter resigns after false tweet that Maryland shooting suspect had MAGA hat

.....and have you noticed how quiet the usual suspects are regarding this shooting. Surname of the shooter, "Ramos", so not a "White Guy"! Shotgun instead of an AR15!

I thought the fact that he shot up a newsroom would have kept things hopping for week or so! Apparently not!

At least the reporter had the integrity to resign, unlike Brian Williams and.....the whole lot of them from NYC, DC, LA, to our own neck in the woods.

As soon as news first broke about the Capital Gazeelte shooting, AP reported that there is an active shooting at a newspaper office, story developing, 4 people reported shot, no details, shooter is WHITE.
I thought that if the shooter was not white, they would have not put out that information immediately. Had to get it out that shooter is White before a body count, before arrest details, before type of gun information, before knowing if there are more than one shooter, before saying the newspaper office is in a building shared by other businesses. Shooter is White, more at 11.
Hey, it was what my inquiring mind wanted to know. The rest of the story and facts can come out later, gotta get it out that second that that shooter is white, ROFLMAO.

Now, we find that the shooter may not be exactly “white”.

"And at what point do you consider an unborn a human life?"
From the time the seed is planted! Paul, I hope you realize I do have a weird sense of humor, cuz I'm a woman. Believe it or not, all humans come into the world because a woman gives her body to nurture them in her womb, and then goes through the pain (and possibly death) to give birth to this new human. She was endowed with the greatest trust to bring forth life and teach it. The most disgusting thing to me is all the ignorant people who can't even see this. Especially the Old Testament, Muslim mentality that looks down on women. Ungrateful men who came to earth through women! Too funny! Yeah, their seed was necessary, but farmers and ranchers castrate the bulls and save the cows. Ya know why? Those dumb guys know it's the females that insure more babies. They only need one bull. And modern society doctors are able to use the seed from the chosen and plant it. Doesn't matter what...it is what it is from the onset. Our beautiful babies have a special human purpose programmed from the onset. When you plant the seed you are responsible for making it able to fulfill its purpose for coming into the world. It's real!

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery at 12:43 - First of all I notice you never answered scenes question at 1:19.
The article you linked to is filled with lies and false suggestions.
"...the former Governor of Indiana intends to impose his belief on America."
It's not just his belief, millions of Americans share that view.
All laws impose a belief of some kind on the citizens. Shall we have no laws at all?
"Let us be blunt. We are talking about the contents of a tampon."
Hilarious. I defy this moron to find a viable human in a tampon.
"Unless the egg implants in the walls of the womb, it is biologically impossible for it ever to become a child."
But if there is intentional action to prevent that from happening, how is that different than killing the child at any stage of development?
"What could it mean, if we officially declared an egg to be a person?"
But of course, no one is suggesting that an unfertilized egg is a person. The author has apparently run out of facts and is now fabricating BS.
"A woman’s right to control her own body? Gone."
First of all - a woman has no more 'right' to control her own body than a man. The left is quite happy to pass all sorts of laws that control a woman's body. If the author is actually talking about the reproductive bits (I'm guessing) then certainly women would not lose any control over her body as far as it just concerns her body.
"Right now, a woman can legally terminate her pregnancy until the fetus becomes “viable”, meaning it can live on its own."
Perhaps Paul Emery can point out the babies that can 'live on their own'.
Hell - 20 somethings can't even live on their own these days.
There are all sorts of people in the hospital that can't live on their own. Shall we just pull the plug on them all? Real humanity at work here.
"Once sperm meets egg, the pregnancy must be carried out in full."
OMG!!! You mean we have to take care of and nurture human life!!
A mighty strange idea to the left.
"“The pill”, the most common form of birth control, would almost certainly become illegal—because it could now be considered an “abortifacient” a chemical form of abortion—which personhood redefines as the murder of a person."
Total BS - the 'pill' does not become an abortifacient because of this law.
"If a fertilized egg is now a person, then disposing of even one would be an act of murder—and fifteen? Would that not be mass murder?"
Hey - you asked the question. Think about it.
"America may be on the brink of curing several types of blindness, plus diabetes, as well as spinal cord injury paralysis which currently afflicts my son Roman Reed—with research Donald Trump’s vice President intends to ban."
Now we get down to what is really going on with the author. He is desperate for a cure for his son. Understandable. But the first part of the statement is indicative of the tenuous nature of this sort of science. The promise of these 'miracle' cures has been held out for years and the odds are now diminishing, not growing. No matter what is wrong with anyone's child, that does allow our nation to devolve into allowing human sacrifice for a cure.
Finally - "If he appoints just one, that would overturn the current 4-4 liberal/conservative split. It would take only 5 Supreme Court members to eliminate Roe v. Wade, and put it “on the ash heap of history”"
Overturning Roe v Wade would not change anything in most states. California, for example, would still carry on with abortion on demand.

scenes

ToddJ: "The 60's hippies are still around. Maybe we will be rid of them in a few years as they OD on their favorite drugs."

Seeing as how their favorite drug is outrage, at least they'll never run out.

Honestly, I think it's an addictive trip to be on. They'll look back on Trumphate as the best time of their lives.

After all, this has nothing to do with warehoused kids, no matter how nice the accommodations. The US is filled with children in various forms of state control due to missing, incarcerated, or merely bad parents. The Border Patrol (what's the fuss about ICE?) has probably had these systems in place for decades. You can certainly argue that a parent or other human smuggler, struggling across the desert with no money or hope, isn't equipped to take care of their children for now...at least for the 20 days they hold them.

I still don't know what the Open Borders party gets out of it all, aside from additional voters and cheap landscaping. No doubt in 100 years sociologists will study this era's burst of xenophilia and okiophobia with some interest. It'll be in the same textbook chapter as medieval flagellants.

Bill Tozer

“I still don't know what the Open Borders party gets out of it all, aside from additional voters and cheap landscaping.”

Yep, our furry friends of the Lefty have gotten so used to having their noses in the trough that they haven’t got used to losing power. They don’t like it one bit that the Deplorables, of all people, have bellied up the the feast and eating without using proper table manners. Them friggin’ Deplorables!! And not just them baskets of uncouth uneducated types. Worse, some constitutionalists and conservative orators and reasonable thinkers have joined in and are rudely elbowing us out. No siree. It’s all about power. They have not been taking it gracefully.

“I am so sick and tired of those extremists out of the mainstream right wingers going around quoting our Founding Fathers. Enough already. Stop it you guys, I mean it.”

Todd Juvinall

The SacBee had a article on the election season underway in Mexico. Hundreds of candidates and affiliates murdered. The gangs are running the place. If this anarchy and violence were here the left would be in charge of it. Anyway, if there was a reason to build the wall and vette very carefully anyone that wants to come here, the Mexican elections are the reason. Can you imagine the disarray and then the results of electing gang members as your city council of county? That is what is going on. And if you don't like it you get murdered.

The leftwingnuts of America need to protest in Mexico and help those people out. Hell, they have it easy here. They are showing us all the lack of empathy they have for the Mexican people and its children by not going over the border and helping those poor people. Of course they have to get back to their homes and big screen TV's and pizzas delivered. Amazing.

Two things... one is that Peeline himself says "the community" is Purple, not Blue. The second is Pelline's narcissism that he was the reason for the change. Not demographics, not union spending on election campaigns.

BREATHE THE FREE AIR, public employees. If you don't belong to the union, ensure your paychecks do not deduct union dues unless you've given them permission, which they now NEED before taking the money.

You also have the right to resign from the union at any time of your choosing... you don't have to wait for the week they've set aside for opting out.

Todd Juvinall

Unions had a place back in the 20-30's but never in the public sector which has Civil Service. My guess is the next challenge may be the demise of them in the public sector.

George Rebane

ToddJ 336pm - If I may push back Mr Juvinall, I have no idea how the "demise" of public sector unions would be brought about without a massive reduction in the megafaces of bureaucrats who are not capable of getting any equivalent employment in the private sector. I think that they'd rather man the barricades before allowing themselves to be cast out into the cold world of merit-based employment. What support do you offer for your assessment?

Dr. Rebane
Just looking for a half point or two here or there, not a wave. More than a mist, maybe a trickle, not a firehouse. A small leak in the dyke, pay it no mind.

I don’t see the Dems imploding. I see the Maxine Waters and Pocahontases of the world are on the deep blue coasts and just they don’t have the numbers or represent a large cross section. The Berinistas. I will be generous and say almost 30% tops. But, that is enough for them to sabatoge themselves out of another election cycle. With that said, I see a few Dems in Ohoi sitting this one out or start to wander off the reservation.

Wonder what the DNC’s internal polling shows. Bet they are showing that Trump is starting to be view as legitament, something that was never supposed to happen. Plan was to have him totally deligitimatized (if not gone) within 6 months. That what resist is all about. Bet internal polling funded by those big think tanks shows they aren’t going to drive Trumps numbers down under 30% like they did Bush, and make him a lame duck by default. Even those Nevertrumpers like Beck, Goldberg, Willam Krystal and his entire gang of pundits, most all of the Bush people....even they are starting to see Trump as legit, or warming up to the idea....and they can read the tea leaves.

I will agree to disagree and call it a trendline. Riding above flatline, still under the radar, not rockets propelled arrows going vertical on the graph. Very slow and steady.

Somewhere an old man with a pony tail quietly weeps.....

From the always invaluable Instapundit!

IF TRUMP PROPOSED THIS, THEY’D CALL HIM HITLER:

Starting at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their families for at least 25 hours a week, not including nap time, for mandatory instruction in “Danish values,” including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and Danish language. Noncompliance could result in a stoppage of welfare payments. Other Danish citizens are free to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to the age of six.

Denmark’s government is introducing a new set of laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim enclaves, saying that if families there do not willingly merge into the country’s mainstream, they should be compelled.

For decades, integrating immigrants has posed a thorny challenge to the Danish model, intended to serve a small, homogeneous population. Leaders are focusing their ire on urban neighborhoods where immigrants, some of them placed there by the government, live in dense concentrations with high rates of unemployment and gang violence.

Politicians’ description of the ghettos has become increasingly sinister. In his annual New Year’s speech, Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen warned that ghettos could “reach out their tentacles onto the streets” by spreading violence, and that because of ghettos, “cracks have appeared on the map of Denmark.” Politicians who once used the word “integration” now call frankly for “assimilation.”

So much for multiculturalism!

Todd, the open borders crowd is still just the OWS gang. They have their own deplorables, but keep them down at the drum circles while the real power brokers sleep in $900-$1,200 a night suites in the hotels up the street with room service. They are the betters of the street people and only use them to pull them out of a jam. Useful tools the street rats be, but don’t linger too long amidst them. Ain’t safe nor civilized.

This is the same group who went gaga over little Boss Hogg, told us we all must listen to him, do everything he says, and let’s drop the voting age to 16, like right now! Then they chased over that Stormy lawyer as the next Great White Hope to take Trump down. Before that it was that Yale phycologist on CNN a zillion times who, even though she is no longer legally licensed to practice her trade, is The Expert to prove Trump is crazy and have him removed from office. And their hopes still burn for Meuller to come up with something, anything. Make it close enough for hand gernades and horseshoes. Best keep a candle going in the window on that former slam dunk.

Gosh, they are even protesting removing children from their parents when caught illegally entering the US, even though Trump has dumped the policy, ROFLMAO.

Now they are going loco for Coco Puffs over some clean young articulate nice looking Latina who speaks English without an accent as the next Great White Hope to led the Occupy Wall Street Liberal bowel movement. Cortez is her name, the Conquering Cortez. Wonder if she wants to burn the libraries and historical records like what the other Cortez did to the Aztecs. Nevermind that the stunning upset and instant Lefty media darling captured the primary in a very heavy Dem District with only 16,000 votes. There are numberous precincts with more than 16,000 votes counted for a candidate out there, lol. The best thing about Cortez is suddenly she makes Kamalla Harris look like a withered dock denizen by comparison.

They will run after the next shinning object soon enough. I have already forgotton each new thing they run after. Too many to remember. The Logan Act looked like the cure at one time. They suddenly over night fell in love with Gov. John Kasich, then back in love with John McCain and probably Little Marco Rubio. They are but lost children, unmoored, leaderless, and are like children following the Pied Piper. I would take it all with a grain of salt. Consider the source.

Are you that ignorant of math Paul Emery? And as far as laving you are better off in San Francisco, maybe Pelosi's district since you are so enamored of the democrats. And you know you so stop the lying. I lived here all my life you are a newcomer. It is you that should move.

Don Bessee

If it gives you comfort to repeat your mantra over and over @ 1233, have at it if it makes you feel better ya po' ol' fakenewsman. ;-)

,,,nice try Donny Boy,,, Kagan was nominated before Mitch McConnell started crying and stamping his feet until a NEW PRECEDENT was set.

No "M" the deal is the Joe Biden rule. Set by your hero in 1989. Only in a Presidential year. Of course you know that but you want to obfuscate.

2010 midterm election, 2018 midterm election. What don't you get, oh wait, willful ignorance is bliss for team lefty. ;-)

,,,Po' ol' FAKE NEWS TODD!!!

'''Biden's floor speech was on June 25, 1992, more than three months later in the election cycle than it is now.

There was no Supreme Court vacancy to fill.

There was no nominee to consider.

The Senate never took a vote to adopt a rule to delay consideration of a nominee until after the election.

Nonetheless, Biden took to the floor in a speech addressing the Senate president to urge delay if a vacancy did appear. But he didn't argue for a delay until the next president began his term, as McConnell is doing. He said the nomination process should be put off until after the election, which was on Nov. 3, 1992.'''

Todd, I am appalled by you. Please don’t drop the F Bomb on the wayward children on the Left. Everybody knows they recoil at Facts, the mother of all F bombs. They have never heard such language in all their, lives. :)

"M"

,,,try to get it through your thick skull Todd,,,it was Biden's opinion,,, so what???
It was never acted on voted on by the Senate!!!

Todd Juvinall

"M" you don't understand the simplest things. You really are dense. Sure it was his opinion, he was the leader and trying to make it so. Now they are the opposite. We call that flip-flopping. You are a FF so live with it.

Tozer, you need to scurry over to the Union's article on the Saturday gathering. Read some of those loons.

Only 10 million? That seems way too low, but then again, a bargain at twice the price.

I do love the new phrase, which may make spending money by conversative groups to advocate for a particular SOTUS new justice a moot point. I love this phrase so much I must say it again and again.

“Harry Reed’s Republican Legacy.” Also known as ‘da nuclear option’. Thank you Senator Majority Leader, much obliged. And your exercise machine thanks you as well.

Harry Reed’s Republican Legacy. Music to my ears. Got to say it again just to hear the sweetest of notes this side of,Paradise. “Harry Reid’s Republican Legacy”.
Hey, we tried to warn him to not be soooo short sighted as it may come back to bite his ilk on the gluteus maximus, a very large muscle. Glad he refused to,listen.

"The best thing about Cortez is suddenly she makes Kamalla Harris look like a withered dock denizen by comparison."

Harris does have an advantage in that she learned a lot under Willie Brown.

Paul Emery

Here's the bad news for the Repubs like Todd.

In 2000 Bush won over Gore by 7% 54%-37%.
In 2016 Hillery won over Trump by 5% 47-42%.
Huge change twords the Dems.

Here's the documentation.

re: PaulEmery@1:48PM

Unlike Todd, I'm willing to cede the point that Nevada County has become more Democratic over time. It's an odd kind of trend, though.

Presidential election votes...republican (or, as you charmingly say, 'pubbers') vs. democratic vs other

2016 42.53% 23,365 47.43% 26,053 10.05% 5,517
2012 48.35% 24,986 47.73% 24,663 3.92% 2,027
2008 46.12% 25,663 51.43% 28,617 2.46% 1,367
2004 53.39% 28,790 44.92% 24,220 1.69% 910
2000 54.76% 25,998 37.22% 17,670 8.02% 3,811
1996 50.40% 21,784 35.56% 15,369 14.03% 6,066
1992 39.24% 17,343 34.92% 15,433 25.85% 11,425

My gut tells me that the underlying trend is Democratic. A combination of a slightly higher Hispanic vote, decline in working class jobs, decline in 'old school' engineers at places like GVG, an increase in Pelline + PaulE + ReinetteS (difficult to tell apart without a program).

I feel for Todd, since it's hard to watch an area pivot away from people who actually work for a living.

BillT 1101pm - Did my 1015pm imply that I see the Dems "imploding"??

Bill Tozer

Todd @ 1:22 pm

I scrurried over to the Union site per your prodding. Talk about a nothing burger. How big was the Inaugural crowd? How big was the Brunswick Burger Basin Crowd? It’s was 800 folks. No, it was 200 folks. Waste of time.

Yes, I have broken my own rules by commenting on the Union’s FB page lately. Not a lot, but a trend I feel,is unproductive. But, once I do, I adjust my setting to “mark as read” so I don’t have read any feedback or have the likes or contemptible distain on my FB page.
The whole shebang is they just do not see any difference between legal and illegal foreign nationals. Zero. You cannot get it through their mushy filled melons that all those unsightly images of little crying bambinos being ripped ripped ripped pulled stitched and rippppppppeeeeeeeeedd while being torn to shreds from their caring mother’s arms could be so easily avoided if the caring parents simply showed up at a point of entry.

So simple. So avoidable. So easy. But, no.

Waste of time. It’s all on the parents who made the conscious deliberate decision to sneak in on their own terms. Now they expect (and believe) they call all the shots, set all the terms, and have the final say. Guess our family value friends on the Left don’t think about a few Islamist terrorists or those already barred from entering ( for darn good reasons)from sneaking in with a child in tow.
Again, what kind of parent would put their young daughters on top of a train, hand them a few packages of the morning after pill, and place them with human (and sex) traffickers solely because once the child is placed, the ruthless parents get a meal ticket entry to the US at a later date. What kind,of animal, would do that to their own children? Their own little daughters?

Ah, nevermind. Wrong thread to discuss this anyway. The unhinged unthinking and ultimately uncaring have fallen into the abysss and don’t even know what an abyss is. Not a good idea to argue on FB, generally, IMHO.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emery, are you daft? I placed the current (last week's from Elections) numbers here and you already commented. Of course, I see the democrats with a 1.5% plurality here. That does not make us a blue county. But there is no logic from you about this. Sorry you are just so partisan left.

BillTm thanks for checking out the lunacy of the lefty commenters on the article. Cracks ,e up. I was there but I guess I am not supposed to believe my lying eyes. LOL!

Paul Emery

Lots of cheap land in Idaho Todd for Republican refugees like you.

Todd Juvinall

No, I like it here. I love goosing you phonypbaloney commies of the left. Make me happy. But no one stopping you from moving to Ms. Cortez Dist 14 in NYC. You go guy. And she is cute.

Don Bessee

So why didn't you win any races (Diaz was not really in a contested election, no R endorsement) In the County then ya po' ol' fakenewsman?

Bitch and moan about the SCOTUS but its our appointment. How many more will we get! Bummer for team lefty. Elections have consequences. ;-)

Dr. Rebane @ 2:02 pm

Not at all, Good Doc. You are not the target of my (sometimes incoherent, always hard to follow) ramblings. I jumped from a small trend line topic to another topic. That second topic was about slapping down some of the exhiberant comments found readily across the Internet in the wake of the Maxine Water’s glorious maxims, Mr. Manny’s column in The Union, and here implied by some of my brothers in arms. Not you.
The Leftinistas may be in disarray, unhinged, suffering from TDS on steroids, but implosion? That is being way more than cautiously optimistic. What was that phrase former Fed Chair Greenspan coined.....oh yeah, it was "Irrational exuberance.” Irrational, in spite of all the near term evidence to the contrary, because they just do not understand the vastness and depth of the the wasteland we call the liberal mind. Never underestimate the enemy and all that stuff.

While I have your ear, I have been meaning to tell you this without sounding too much like a brown noser. That post your wrote titled “No Abyss for Progressives” is one I had to read and reread at least 5 times. One of the best you have penned. I had this sinking feeling I was missing something. The point about Manny having a flaw in his agrument. It was there right in front of me the whole time, but I was too blind to see it. To apprendend the point, not merely comprehend it is what I am saying and struggling with.

“The American electorate is now hopelessly divided into those too dumb to be informed, and those too smug who think that they need do nothing but wait for Divine Justice to strike through a parting of the clouds to “implode the progressive movement” of dastardly and seditious anti-Americans. Meanwhile, with apparent impunity, the Left continues to field platoons of political thugs............The logic, totally absent from the Left’s mindset and to which Mr Montes appeals in his arguments, is shared today by a diminishing minority –

How can we point out the abyss to them when they are already blissfully unaware that they are in the abysss already and like it that way?

Opps, I combined topics again. :)

Don Bessee

Something tells me there is going be some serious fallout over this -

A Belgian couple and an apparent Iranian diplomat were among four people arrested over the weekend in connection with a planned bomb attack at a large rally held by Iranian opposition groups and attended by President Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani, authorities in Brussels said Monday.
The Iranian-heritage couple, identified only as 38-year-old Amir S. and 33-year-old Nasimeh N., were apprehended on Saturday after police stopped them and searched their car in the Woluwé-Saint-Pierre neighborhood of Brussels. Investigators found more than a pound of TATP explosives and a detonator, said Eric Van der Sijpt, spokesman for the Belgian prosecutor's office.

Go Socialist Dems Go, now tell the voters why Bernie's paradise is a good idea again.

The lack of clean water is the latest in a string mass shortages experienced in Venezuela under the rule of socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro. Access to basic resources from food to medicine is now extremely limited, mainly as a result of hyperinflation that has rendered its Bolivar country as practically worthless. Based on real worth exchange rates, the country’s minimum wage is roughly equivalent to one dollar ($1) a month.

Shannon Moon was not the choice of the Republican Party in this election Todd.

Don Bessee

The po' ol' fakenewsman needs to stay out of subjects where his depth of knowledge is micron thin. Shannon was a registered republican and our Guest at the Spring Dinner. She decided to switch to DTS in a tactical electoral move but NOT DEM.

A DTS is not eligible for an endorsement in a race with 2 other registered republicans. You best stop digging. ;-)
