Keep the White House in the dark about Flynn, then cry obstruction of justice. If I thought the investigation of Flynn was a done deal and over, I too, would have said, “Go easy on him” for lying to others on my staff.

"These sports teams are killing their sports and the viewers are leaving in droves. "

Todd, ever the nitwit.
NFL viewership has been in decline since 2014 (well before the knee thing). Why is NASCAR viewership crashing to new lows? NFL players kneeling? What about basketball's loss of viewership? Todd has the answers. Just wait. Something about crooked Hillary probably.

What is really scary is that "real" football (that would be soccer Todd) viewership and youth participation is gaining. Now we we know the rest of the story. MEXICANS (illegals probably) ruined our traditional team sports! Todd you make make the announcement and take a bow (or a knee).

It'll be amazing the kind of permanent system of surveilotyranny you can set up. It's not a thing that Trump has done any better at than Saint Obama, but the Deep State be Deep Statein'.

The amusing thing is that large .gov folks think they can control the beast. That somehow you can build an actively managed but humane rat run for everybody.

The thing is, this experiment has already been run a few times. A decent overview:

It's interesting to watch how the philosophy of Russian governing changed over time as the personalities and the reality on the ground changed things. Once control is centralized, you always end up in the same place.

Still trying to make up your own facts moron? Is that what a tenth grade grad thinks all the time? All sporting events are taking a loss as the players are disrespecting the country that gave them success. Surprised how little attention to detail the Masterpiece Cake ruling got, yet not surprised how both sides take the very narrow limited scope of that particular ruling/case to claim a victory or loss. The ruling was so narrow that I feel none of the bigger questions were addressed. SCOTUS sidestepped the issue, save to say government cannot be hostile to one absolute right or give it more or less weight than another’s individual’s claim to a another right. It was a draw, IMHO, and the future “cake cases” in the pipeline will, if heard, may answer the larger questions.

Does one 1st Amendment absolute individual right have more weight than another 1st Amendment absolute right? Were “our rights” ever intended to to butt heads against each other? It appears they were never designed to clash. How did we get to this place? Just food for thought.

I've got no problem with pardons. It looks to me like most of the high-profile jail time for crimes involving money or influence were randomly handed out depending on whether the local .gov attorneys got a bee in their bonnet or not. Generally, I'd say that most financial evil-doings should be dealt with by financial penalties.

Of course, what always seems to happen is "but, squeak, all of those guys that do an armed robbery and beat the hell out of the shopkeeper went to jail, and the guy that did the insider trading only got a fine. That ain't fair".

Todd @ 2:49 pm

Let me clarify. Narrow does not mean it was a close call, like a 5-4 decision. Nay. Not in the least. Narrow in this case does not mean close call, . It means they ruled on just one ingredient on many that makes up the whole cake, pun intended.

Many have misconsued the word ‘narrow’. I mean narrow in scope. SCOTUS did not rule on whether the baker can refuse to create a specific cake for a specific occasion, but they ruled that the government (in this case the State of Colorado) erred by showing hostility to the defendant’s religious objection claim. In other words, they faulted how the Civil Rights Department (or whatever it is called) displayed bias. That was all is was.
To borrow from current buzzwords in the Meuller indictments, Flynn was convicted on a “procedure” crime. Likewise, SCOTUS ruled on the way the State of Colorado handled the case, not the case itself.
There is much injustice, bias, and inequality in the world, but there cannot be bias in justice...

That is why I say SCOTUS punted, a draw if you will. By focusing on process, the court sidestepped the big questions. Again, to use “narrow” in this sense, it’s similar to the Scooter Libby or Martha Steward cases where neither’s conviction answered the question of whether they committed the crime of insider trading or leaking to the press, crimes they were never convicted for. Similarly, SCOTUS did not address the validly of the religious objection claim nor the validity of the Colorado anti-discrimination law. Thus they looked at just one tree, not the forest, aka, narrow. Don’t know if that helps or puts us on the same page.

Yes, politically one can make hay with the ruling. I cannot in this specific ruling. To be controversial, I would say it would have been best is both parties just walked away, as do I believe the same would be best in the similar CA case (with favorable religious objection ruling already) working its way through the courts as we speak. Reasonable folks can agree to disagree and there are thousands of eager and willing bakers or photographers out there.

Think about it. A wedding is a joyous occasion, a day that lives in the minds and hearts of the happy couple til death do they part. The special moment in their lives, very special. Would you want someone there who was attending because they were forced to be there against their will or eat something that the caterer hated to make for the party and did so only because they were had to, not wanted to?

To top this off, who has a wedding and serves pizza for the special occasion? Like, I see most of this as BS, all in all. There are real injustices out there and finding someone out in the boonies and asking them a hypothetical question like “Would you cater pepperoni pizzas to a gay wedding?” is looking for a crime that had not been committed.

Todd Juvinall

BillT I agree to a point. However, this decision sends a signal out that there is trouble in paradise for those trying to keep people from practicing their religion or religious beliefs. I think a lawyer can always parse life into many clients cases to make that big money. Life goes on.

So Rodman is joining Trump at the summit? If true it shows me that Trump is an open minded negotiator. Whatever leverage he can use. Smart man. Maybe the local LGBTQ jonnieSmith could go too. And he can teach Kim which bathroom he should use.

Todd,
Masterpiece Cake Theater. Yep, we are both right, but you are more right to say the decision is a bigger win than I conceded. A meeting of the minds. The intersectionality off agreement, to use hip lingo. . This decision does indeed send out some signals and implications....to government. From two separate articles, I will combine for brievity:

“No one — and certainly no American — should be forced to compromise their views just because they’re unpopular with the government entity in charge. The newest member of the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch, touched on this in his own concurrence. “No bureaucratic judgment condemning a sincerely held religious belief as ‘irrational’ or ‘offensive’ will ever survive strict scrutiny under the First Amendment.” In this country, he writes, “the place of secular officials isn’t to sit in judgment of religious beliefs, but only to protect their free exercise… Popular religious views are easy enough to defend. It is in protecting unpopular religious beliefs that we prove this country’s commitment to serving as a refuge for religious freedom.”

and....

The state’s civil rights commission was blatantly hostile to Phillips’ claim of religious liberty, and that hostility seemed to be the focus of the Court’s opinion. Writing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy declared:

“The record here demonstrates that the commission’s consideration of Phillips’ case was neither tolerant nor respectful of his religious beliefs… The commission’s hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendment’s guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion.”

To give you some idea of just how biased the Colorado Civil Rights Commission was, consider this: Two liberal justices — Breyer and Kagan — joined the majority, making yesterday’s decision a 7-2 ruling!

Only two justices — liberals Ginsburg and Sotomayor — felt the state of Colorado was free to run roughshod over Phillips’ religious liberty.

In addition, the fact that yesterday’s decision was written by Justice Kennedy speaks volumes. He has authored the Court’s biggest pro-gay rights opinions, including the decision redefining marriage. I and many others feared that if this opinion had Kennedy’s name on it, the decision would go the wrong way.

While the Supreme Court in many ways dodged more fundamental issues in its decision, at least it is willing to impose some limits on the Left’s intolerance toward men and women of faith.”

And my two cents worth

. The First Amendment protects my right to march down the street with like minded folks and scream out Islam sucks, Jews suck, Christians suck, homosexuals suck, straight people sucks, Pagans suck.” The press can lie if they choose, it’s protected speech as well. The Sedition Act got tossed. The press has the right to be wrong, and be wrong passionately, even if they are the only ones on the planet that believe what they spout, not the hearer. Slander may be an exemption, but that goes to intent and foreknowledge of spouting a lie, not passionately spouting beliefs. And is not blogging right now a form of publishing?
So, it does make sense that government must remain neutral on religious beliefs in the public and private sectors, at work, at home, and at play. Protected speech (and by extension beliefs), does not mean protected from offense or disagreement.

https://patriotpost.us/opinion/56347-a-big-win

Also, I recall a baker in Oregon that was fined $150,000 or more in a similar issue. Can they get their money back?

------

I checked the total reported votes on last report which are at 16K.

What is important is the undervotes, in the Sheriff race it has in all reports been just under 7% and in the DA race it has consistently been just under 12%. That will not change much at all after 4 reports so all those votes are off the table.

If those patterns hold we are talking about 28 to 31K total votes, so less than 50% turnout with all mail voting.

C'est la vie. I just figure that 38 is the new 24. We are all doomed to eventually have Stupidvisors who speak in uptalk in any case. I feel a little bad for HH since those county gigs appear to lead to more lucrative non-profit positions (they don't strike me as being 'jobs' exactly). Politics can be a gift that keeps on giving.

As usual, any statewide position is likely to be locked down. I'd appreciate a (R) governor, but that ain't likely to happen. It would be nice to avoid 100 arcane new gun laws and endless new fees to help the balance sheets of the many Courtiers of the Blue State.

At least I'll have the Miss America bathing suit competition to look forward to.

jon smith at 5:36 - There's a lot more to that story about HD than lies from the union. HD has been trying to expand their brand into a bigger world market for some time now. The old basic air cooled V twin design that Harley owners love is struggling with the realities of ever more stringent air and noise regs. Also the bulk and cost of the bigger bikes just doesn't work in Asia where the growing market for consumer products is drawing in a lot of manufacturers. Sales are down in the US and HD has to face reality and shrink production. HD has been buying sub assemblies such as front suspensions from Japanese companies for decades. Their newest line of smaller water cooled bikes are sourced from India (number 2 in motorcycle production behind China).
Right now HD doesn't have a very bright future. They are going to have to make a lot of changes in their product line and where they produce their products if they are to stay in business at all. The unions are hardly a reliable source of information about this topic.

lol. One thing people should learn from the insane messianic fervor coursing through half the country is that there's no point in apologizing, they just double down.

As an intellectual exercise, I'd love for the jonsmith/Paul/M (man of many names)/etc. mafia to read that article and then explain to me why I should accept their plans for my future.

sorry, just one more. This is from Mr. Fish's article on Team Blue insanity in Portland.

----
In 2016, Sally Krantz opened Saffron Colonial in north Portland, a restaurant featuring historical recipes from the British Empire. Krantz might have hoped she’d be celebrated as a female entrepreneur and chef but instead she found herself confronted by furious activists accusing her of racism and glorifying colonialism. Mobs of demonstrators gathered outside her restaurant, and detractors swamped its Yelp page with one-star reviews and abuse. Food suppliers refused to do business with her, and eventually Krantz surrendered and changed the restaurant’s name after weeks of unabated pressure. “I’m a single mother with four kids to support, so closing was not an option,” she told me during a recent visit. “The name Saffron Colonial had nothing to do with promoting imperialist ideology or advocating slavery.”

With the exception of “M” (I can only assume this refers to Moron or perhaps Movie pirate) the lefties who post here aren’t 😜 batshit crazy! Frighteningly misguided but not crazy! I suspect that they are quietly horrified by the Red Guard “Struggle Session” crap going on on college campuses now diffusing into society at large! They are still too wedded to progressivism to criticize but I suspect that this will pass as things get increasingly worse (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-06-05/medicare-will-be-insolvent-2026-sooner-expected-social-security-follow-2034) financially!

Yeah.....rookie mistake......not checking the most recent version of the “Progressive Hierarchy of Victims” chart before opening her restaurant! White women always, always, always place lower on the pecking order than ethnics!

Todd Juvinall

Looks like as of this moment there are 12,000 plus uncounted ballots in this unbelievable cluster-f***. And Diaz is overwhelmingly re-elected! Amazing. We may not have the final tally for days! And maybe this will convince people to have voting in each precinct again and paper ballots. And one day to vote!

Robert Cross

fishy-- I wouldn't put too much stock in zero hedge as a source. Media bias/fact check says this: "Zero Hedge also has a terrible record with fact checkers. Overall, this is a conspiracy based website." Without verification from somewhere else the claims of insolvency are suspect at best. About the same can be said for Daily Caller; "The Daily Caller produces sensational headlines and has a right wing bias in reporting and has made false claims according to Snopes and Politifact." Our views are shaped by our information sources.. Suspect sources equals suspect views.

Walt

From the rag today,
"The campaign, while heated, simmered under the rancor of the district attorney's race. Supporters of both Hodge and Miller exchanged barbs online. Anti-Miller cartoons appeared on Facebook. Hodge opponents attacked her on a local conservative blog."

Now.... I wonder which blog that could be? They didn't make the mistake they did the last time. naming this fine establishment.

As obsessed with controlling the direction of the discussion as a certain geometrically challenged former newsman living in your neck of the woods.....

You run along now bobby.....let the adults talk!

Walt

So much for the blue "wave".. New spelling... "Waive".. as in "BYE BYE" Don't let the door hit ya' where the good Lord split ya'.

Now we get to hear the Lefties sing the blues. And it's sure to be WAY out of key.
Let the excuse machine start to spin! Who's fault? who rigged what?
Yup, a BIG brown one got dumped in the victory punch bowl last night, and judging by all the LIB attitudes on the news, the coffee was pissed in to.
I can't wait to hear from the Queen of the DEMned. That should be a real whine fest.

Walt

Looky HERE! A DEM bites the dust!
http://www.breitbart.com/california/2018/06/06/california-primary-voters-recall-democrat-josh-newman-over-gas-tax-vote/
"Voters in California’s 29th State Senate district recalled freshman Democrat Josh Newman in Tuesady’s California primary over his vote for Governor Jerry Brown’s 12-cent-per-gallon gas tax hike, replacing him with Republican Ling Ling Chang and definitively denying Democrats a supermajority in the upper house."

And just when you thought the butthurt was done.

Gregory

In a "conservative" blog, you don't have to be conservative to comment.

Let me smear Hilary Hodge again by accurately quoting her in context from her former column in The Union:

"When it comes to managing all the things that are important for succeeding as an adult, I am failing miserably. I mostly pay my bills on time. I usually eat a healthy breakfast. I try to go to bed at a reasonable hour and usually fall asleep sometime between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. I don't read any of the magazines I subscribe to. Almost all of my furniture is from IKEA. Last week, after work, I fell asleep in a chair because one of my cats crawled onto my lap and I didn't want to wake him up."

It strikes me that if in the unlikely event HH wins, Miller handed It to her by not digging out the Quotes hisself (sic), putting one at the bottom of each of his campaign ads.

I like to think that the crack KVMR news team uses words like 'cisgendered', 'intersectional', and 'ableist' in private conversations.

In referring to the professional agitators/activists, there was a good response from someone in the article you posted.

"If you act like prey, predators will treat you like prey. If you don’t, they won’t. Predators want easy prey, not difficult prey."

"If you act like prey, predators will treat you like prey. If you don’t, they won’t. Predators want easy prey, not difficult prey."

Only reinforces the notion that you should never, ever apologize to a progressive. They can’t process it like a normal person can and seem programmed to exploit it much like the comment above states!

Somebody needs to muzzle this nitwit......

Kim Jong Un Begged for Summit ‘on His Hands and Knees,’ Giuliani Says

Bill Tozer

“If you act like prey, predators will treat you like prey. If you don’t, they won’t. Predators want easy prey, not difficult prey."”

That describes, clinically speaking, a sociopath. When they realize they cannot get anything more from you, they move to the next prey...and not a second before then. It’s not even personal. Seriously, they will settle for cig if need be, just as long as they can get something from the victim . Ok, you may use the term psychopath if, like me, you don’t wish to get bogged down splitting hairs.

They also lack the ability to empathize or feel remorse. You can’t shame a sociopath. Impossible. The only regret they are cabable of feeling is the remorse that they got caught, never for the victim.

You cannot shame them, you cannot reason with them. They exist solely to take, solely to find prey. Thus I agree one should never ever apologize to them. As long as there is one person out there who will not say “no”, they will come back for more.

Todd Juvinall

Looks like Paul Emery took quite a beating so far.

M

Fish, '''Somebody needs to muzzle this nitwit......'''I agree! I'm gunna need a new Depends!!!

Todd Juvinall

M, there are some coupons today for depends. I'll send them to you. As you lost big yesterday I expect a full load in your pantie.

Walt

Just turn it inside out "M",, and your good to go.

fish

I'm gunna need a new Depends!!!

Yeah....that statement is evergreen!

M

,,,but Todd and Walt aka Larry and Curly need some Ex-lax as they are so uptight!!!

Gregory

Hilary Hodge apparently received a degree from UC Davis in 2005 (that claim in a letter to a UC Davis magazine she wrote decrying the pepper spray incident)... does anyone reading this blog know what it was that she studied?

What is her spouse's name? When and where were they married?

In her coming out column, she said she had been married at age 26 (in 2006?) and came out as a lesbian about a year later, apparently divorcing soon afterwards... that would be 11 years ago... 2007?

The election is over but for the counting, perhaps now we can ask the really tough questions that would typically be volunteered when the person first announces intentions to run for office.

Todd Juvinall

M AKA dopey, not uptight at all. I can get you those coupons though. Put your address here I'll deliver.

Todd Juvinall

Hodge is not conceding yet. Maybe Miller should declare victory? LOL

Gregory

TJ, it would be political malpractice for HH to concede before half the votes are counted.

Yes, Greg Diaz won an overwhelming victory, which is what happens when you are an incumbent without major scandal and no one else with a scintilla of qualifications for the office runs for the office.

I hate not having a polling place to go to and show my face (the Kentucky Flat Schoolhouse has been mine since 1994) and I hate that my vote, submitted yesterday, isn't counted yet.

Walt

Uptight? Damn Dougy,, grasping at joints again.(better smoke one) I get plenty of fiber. It's your side that took it in the depends,, not ours.
Your "blue wave" got flushed. Ol' Bill nailed it with the blue toilet months ago.

Now for your stooges to start running on hiking taxes, telling what's going to be free,(at other's expense) How more unemployment is needed. "Welfare is good for America".(You do remember who said that,,, right?)
Now get on the stick and start stumping for free healthcare for all.( That worked out SWELL!) Now how bout all those new regs Proggys will pass to make life so much rough...uh, better.

Right now, I'm enjoying the singing of the buttsore. (your a little flat at the moment.)

Here's Mr. Fish's article again:

https://quillette.com/2018/06/05/portland-bakery-white-guilt-poisons-batter/

I spent a minute checking out Lillian Green and Cameron Whitten as mentioned in that article.

I mean, man, what pieces of work. Maybe it's just a modern version of Elmer Gantry, but those folks can only extract what you give them.

If you feel like taking sides, there's always a handful of evil right wingers that do something stupid. The problem is that there are 1000's of those Green Libertarian hucksters out there. The population of the two groups doesn't even begin to compare.

In the short term, the hucksters on the left will feel the thrill of power and even make a bit of dosh. In the long run, they'll serve to heavily radicalize their opponents.

Dunno if that's such a great idea.

Walt

Where is Paul? You have booking to do. I'm sure Nevada City can used the publicity. It needs the tourist bucks.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/06/stormy-daniels-sues-her-former-lawyer-says-became-puppet-for-trump.html

She needs the bucks to sue her lawyer, to be able to pay the current one. Yaaa,, the same one that put her back on her back. That lawsuit is going SO well too. He's too busy on his own knees at CNN.
Poor Stormy. At least she's accustomed to getting screwed.
