Are you sure that this is not one of the crabmans cartoons? It sure generates laughs. ;-)

WOW! You would think CNN is pure as falling snow.

Todd Juvinall

Not much reporting on the antifa thugs in Portland is there. Pick and choose by the lames shows why they are not believed.

I'd definitely shift that partisan curve a standard deviation or so.

The idea of 'Time' being conservative/neutral is laughable, but it occurs to me that you need to think about what is being measured.

I think that this chart shows old-school political lines. My own theory (at the risk of being repetitious) is that those who view left/right orientation as based on economics simply haven't been paying much attention.

Vanessa L. Otero is a patent attorney in Denver.

It's a decent swag but the biases and shortsightedness inherent in any such oversimplification are many.

The WSJ has two sides... news and opinion, with a wall between them; their news is moderate Dem, opinion is moderate GOP. Both are worth reading and citing.

The place of honor MSNBC (BSNBC/MSLSD) is given is laughable... it's virtually all slanted opinion...

Fox News' news coverage rivals the best of the centrists. Their opinion shows are obviously opinionated.

To put NPR/PBS news in proper perspective, listen or watch the on-air coverage of election day returns Nov 2016, then tell me how they were unbiased... but yes, they try.

Scenes, to a moderate Dem, Time is moderate/centrist. The cover of Trump staring down a crying Honduran child obviously shows an obvious truth even though it's fake, with the little girl never having been separated from her mom despite mom being arrested for a felony repeat border crossing and kidnapping the child from Dad.

Well I hope the diaper held firm.....you remember what a mess you made last time.

I am sorry this is chart is pure bull sh*t, especially when it comes to anthropogenic global warming and lefty scare tactics. New York Times, Bloomberg, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, NPR, AXIOS, and AP are all in bed with the environmental wacko scaremongers. POLITICO is a hardcore Tump hater, and 90% of the crap they print is negative Trump. While Russian ships are trapped in the ice, and two shipping ports blocked we get stories about how Arctic winter temperatures are above average. Which is true, but they leave out that the temperature is still well below freezing, and that the summer temperature is below average; thus the Arctic is covered in ICE, even though Al Gore said by 2013 is would be ice free. We were at the 30-year mark when Hansen gave his global warming doom testimony to Congress and not one story in the mainstream press about how all of his predictions have FAILED! Pacific islands were to be underwater and all the Islanders' climate refugees in Australia, but now 30 years later these islands are promoting tourism and building new airports to handle the demand. No reports by this balanced media about the climate change failures, only more unscientific scaremongering.

Bob Hobert

"Bullshit, I say Bullshit!" The chart neuters Neutral and centers the Left.

Whooa, there, Russ. This isn't about AGW, and anyone who gets their science filtered through the media are going to get told the party line. After all, NPR's news was run for a time by Michael Oreskes, brother of warmista Naomi, recently chased out of his cushy job for the sexual improprieties du jour.

Bob H, yes, the chart is shifted left. The maker of the chart is very probably solid moderate to liberal Democrat and she sees the world the way she sees it... the whole reason "fact checking" sites can't fact check their own biases.

Bill Tozer

Man of man. I have never seen such a thing in all my born days. Finally, something new under the sun.

Bill Tozer

Darn, that was meant for Sandbox.strike it,, please good doc

Paul. Your relatives ain't happy.
"“This does not go any further,” Trakellis said, adding: “From 2015 we live through the constant destruction of our village,” and that the sanitary facilities on the island were not able to handle the influx of migrants living at the camp in Moria."

Robert Cross

Interesting to note that many of the sources cited on this blog belong in the red zone. Does that tell you anything about how accurate your world views are? Probably not.

Hi Bobby 845am!

The red zone as defined by a minority female patent lawyer in Colorado may not be a "red zone" as defined by a white male Republican ditch-digger in Nirvana County, California.

If the world view is inaccurate, the citation should be easy to tear down with a counterexample. Give it a try.

Posted by: Robert Cross | 02 July 2018 at 08:45 AM

I knew this would arouse bobby who only gets his news from "approved and sanitized" sources. Its almost as though you approve of those who would "gatekeep" opinion......and that you may have served in some capacity doing this yourself.

Someone who is upset when others fail to "moderate" the opinions of others.

Wonder who fits that description? Wonder, wonder, wonder!

Todd Juvinall

The Union article today with the front page pictures was fair. I like the fact the left is promoting open borders which means lots of criminals flooding across to rob, nurder and steal. If the left thinks the country wants that they are so wrong. All the polls have our position as the dominant one and by a huge margin.

So I am not unhappy today with the Union!

Todd Juvinall

BobbieC is not unlike all the lefty critics of our sources. For me I read and watch sources from all sides. Even though listening to an idiot commenter from the left pains me greatly I still listen. It is not a common thing to see both sides represented in the lamestream. The critics of FOX crack me up. They never watch it but always use it as the example of rightwing thought and propaganda. But they always have both sides debate on almost every segment. And if you doubt me then watch Tucker Carlson at 5 and 9 and you will see. He has the left exclusively on to debate issues and it is really interesting. I watch CNN and MSNBC and read the SacBee to get the lefty views. How about you BoobieC?

“Brian Ross leaving ABC After Botched Michael Flynn Report”

I wonder if he’ll turn down the $60,000 in severance so he can continue to write about the Union.

Bill Tozer

We have been scolded by Mr. Cross and others (Marilyn Manson) for not only reading articles on his list of non-approved outlets, but actually having the gall to repost them here. The audacity of some folks. There is a reason we (moi) are called Deplorables. Read Huff-n-Puff post, people. Watch CNN. Watch Chris Matthews get that tingle up his leg when Obama speaks. And Fish reads Zero Hedge! So does Scenes on occasion. Stop it you guys, I mean it. Stop it right now. But Business Insider is now ok, right? Heard they came around and saw the light.

Love it when our betters slam an article we (moi) post from the non-approved reading list of media outlets, only to go rabbit on us when it is pointed out that the article in question was originally from AP. Posting a column from Walter Williams is ok, but not if it is reposted from some right wing outlet like The Patriot Post, a media outlet 100% committed to #NeverTrump Republicans from Jonah Goldberg to Cal Thomas to George Will. My, my, The Patriot Post has some of the best political cartoons, as opposed to memes. Must not post anything from that site!, lol. Anything and nothing. Go pound sand.
Would it be ok to repost the same story by the same author if found on Yahoo News or Google News instead of the New York Post?, lol. Is the Washington Times ok, or am I only “allowed” to read the Washington Post? Grip this, buttercup.

What concerns me it this desire to trample free speech by attempting to shut down opposing views. Yes, I cheer when CNN rating drop, but never once wished they would close up shop. Same for Vox or the Nation or even RT or Democracy Now! I know where they are going from. Its the article I am interested in, not the publisher....especially if the article contains more detailed information or in depth probing into a topic that interests me and not covered by the MSM. Take Campus Reform, for example. Who else is dedicated to reporting on heavy handed government imposed free speech restrictions on public college campuses? Hmmmm? Where are the alternatives? I am interested in such developments.

It all reminds me of Hillary’s list of reasons she lost. The media showed Nigel Farage saying mean things about her. That was wrong. Matt Lauer (pre-scandal) should be fired because at a National Security townhall with pre-approved questions, he asked about those damn e-mails. That affected the election. Opposing view must not aired. Events must not be aired! How dare the media reported on folks chanting “Lock her up, lock her up”. That is a reason she lost. Stop reporting on that! Heck, even Mika found out you can’t even say the Clinton Campaign is acting arrogant. Blamsphey!!

Bottomline: The cure for any problems with free speech or the media is more free speech and more media formats. I will read what I please, when I please, and if I please anytime I see fit. I hate control freak and book burners. I may have to work hard and dig, but I will find a way to get beyond the Left Wing Industrial Media Complex, whether some self appointed hall monitors like it or not.

Talk about weaponizing free speech. Oh, the horror, the horror.

re RobertC 845pm - Another confirmation of the liberal mind's deficit. Only consider the messenger that you oppose, and never the message. Were any of them endowed with a functional thinker between their ears, they would disassemble the message for all to see, and thereby prove that their missing mettle isn't really missing at all. But until then, that's what we continue to call 'hope against hope'.

Don Bessee

That high chair pillow didn't help the quality of Zucks testimony!

Representatives for the FBI, the SEC and the Federal Trade Commission have joined the Justice Department in its inquiries about the two companies and the sharing of personal information of 71 million Americans, suggesting the wide-ranging nature of the investigation, said five people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a probe that remains incomplete.
whether those representations square with the underlying facts and whether Facebook made sufficiently complete and timely disclosures to the public and investors about the matter. The Capitol Hill testimony of Facebook officials, including chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, also is being scrutinized as part of the probe, said people familiar with the federal inquiries.

This shoe just dropped on Zucks head -

Hey look Brian Ross has official earned the ranking of po' ol' fakenewsman -

“A clarification tonight on something one of Flynn’s confidants told us, and we reported earlier today. He said the President had asked Flynn to contact Russia during the campaign,” said Ross. “He’s now clarifying that saying according to Flynn, candidate Trump asked him during the campaign to find ways to repair relations with Russia and other hot spots, and then after the election, the President-elect asked him, told him to contact Russia on issues, including working together to fight ISIS.”
The original false report sent the stock market into a sharp fall — over 350 points.

an alternative chart.

re: Brian Ross

I just assume that he's your average MSM reporter. A combination of addlepate and enemy combatant.

Don Bessee

NPR has lost what was left (pun intended) of its mind -

Bill Tozer

Trump hates the media!
Well, Coumo, liking you is not a requirement. My, my, that Cuomo son is angry. Get hold of yourself, will ya Chris? Yes, Trump is a liar. Anything else?

“And yes, Trump did say that he respects journalists after the mass murder, but why would you believe that? Why would you believe he's not lying again? I don't have time to play all the attacks on the media, you know the truth. And now you know even if they get murdered, the President won’t respect the media appropriately.
“It's the truth. It's as true as it is shameful. Insensitivity to the dead,” he proclaimed as fact even though it was obviously just his personal opinion.”

Politico this morning:

Here we all are. The start of a mad hot American summer in the nation's capital. A president violating norm after norm. Immigrant children wailing for their mothers. A Supreme Court seat, open like a wound. A midterm election hurtling toward us like an avenging angel, or a killer asteroid. The resistance girding for war, or curdling into hysteria, depending on your view." The Washington Post's Dan Zak.

Economist Reports on Junk Science:

Some science journals that claim to peer review papers do not do so: One estimate puts the number of papers in questionable journals at 400,000.

”The old minivan appeared near the school on a Tuesday morning, its Illinois plates the only thing out of place in the blue-collar suburbs of central Long Island. But as backpack-toting teenagers passed by on their way to Brentwood High, the van’s doors suddenly swung open.

Out sprang members of the violent street gang MS-13, armed with baseball bats.

They attacked three 16-year-old students they suspected of being rivals before driving off. When police spotted the van in the same neighborhood the following afternoon and surrounded it at gunpoint, the MS-13 members were in the midst of trying to abduct a fourth.

“We were going to take him somewhere private and beat him to death,” said Miguel Rivera, 20, according to a Suffolk County indictment.

The Dec. 6 arrests of Rivera and four others thwarted what police say would have been the sixth murder of a Brentwood High School student by MS-13 in less than two years.”

From Wapo (I’m not giving Bezos a buck for a link)

Contrasted with

“On Aug. 1, 2017, the source said Pena-Rodriguez, Romero-Rivera, Ayala-Rivera, plus two other men, used a solid bat to beat the girl behind the single-family home along Valley View Avenue. The men reportedly took turns whacking the 15-year-old girl’s flailing body — 28 swings in total. Her injuries included an “indented” buttocks, discolored arms and legs, and visible bleeding from the neck down.

A second unnamed source would later tell cops that Ayala-Rivera (‘Noctorno’) ordered the backyard clubbing because he felt the victim was “not doing a good job as an MS-13 prostitute.” The same source revealed Ayala-Rivera (‘Noctorno’) raked in a lot of money by trafficking teenage girls to men of all ages.”

Given that her appraisal of the situation is so poor I might suggest that Ms. Drier volunteer for “Coffee Delivery Duty” like another mediocre journalist with whom we are all familiar.

George 2:11 --

Unreliable messengers equals unreliable messages. Except, of course, when those messengers say what you want to hear, truth or not. You continually commit the crime you are ascribing to those without a "functional thinker between their ears", attacking the messenger. Does the term hypocrite ring a bell in the empty space between your ears? Amerika uber alles, right?

,,,so let's see where the brainwashed trumpsiites would place their most trusted echo chambers, Brightbutt and the Daily Yeller if they don't think the red rectangle is good enough for them,,,

DEREK HUNTER: You really have to go out and hunt for it. You should read conservative sites. You should read liberal sites, and find the truth in there. If something is repeated on both sides, that’s generally what happened.

In respect to Time magazine, that cover is ridiculous. Ten years ago, somebody would have been fired over it. But we’re now approaching the point that newspapers will no longer have a Corrections section. They’ll have a Justifications section. Because Time magazine didn’t say ‘Wow, we dropped the ball, we got fooled by this.’ They justified the use of a fraudulent picture, that was already Photoshopped to have the president staring at that kid. But they justified it! This is not – The Luce family would be rolling over in their grave at what has become of what they started!

Bill Tozer

“Some of Pruitt’s critics point out that he eliminated from the EPA's Science Advisory Board any person who had a conflict of interest, specifically anyone who had received grants from the EPA. Here, at least, the critics are accurate — Pruitt did enforce a commonsense conflict-of-interest policy. The critics’ conclusion that this action somehow makes Pruitt unfit to serve, however, is laughable. That Pruitt took the extra steps to establish new ethics standards for his agency is commendable and should be replicated across the government.

“The media worked itself into near-hysteria for a week, questioning the ethics surrounding Pruitt’s Rose Bowl tickets, where his home-state Oklahoma Sooners were playing. The media, having little interest in fact-checking these stories, jumped to the conclusion that Pruitt must have gotten tickets from a firm associated with an energy company. The only problem with this manufactured scandal? Pruitt purchased the tickets on his own, the same way you or I would have purchased tickets.

“If journalists would like to cover a true scandal at the EPA, how about a story following the money trail at the agency, and the “revolving door” staff whose job posts rotate between taxpayer-funded jobs within the EPA and high-paying jobs with firms that benefit from EPA grants. EPA’s corruption runs deep. Nowhere was this more on display than during the Obama years, when “green energy” groups supplied the Obama administration with its officials for the EPA. Those officials allowed their special-interest former employers to write the EPA policies before they were finally offered to the public (as the law requires) for comment.”

RobertC 856am - Mr Cross, I know you are doing your best. But both your assessments and your logic are desperately flawed. Overlooking that we all notice that your repartee did the usual sidestep and did not address the issue to which a I referred in my 211pm. In a vein that you might understand, you and yours seem to vilify/banish the messenger whenever one delivers a message that goes counter to either you beliefs or narrative du jour.

In the event that the underlying intent of this post continues to escape you, I put up the graphic, not as a testimonial to truth, but as an example of how biased are assessments of bias (cf also scenes' 705pm); all this in order to invite reader comments beyond what appears to be your genuflecting to what was originally generated by MediaBiasChart.com.

I personally would put Breitbart and Daily Caller about even with Mother Jones and Democracy Now!

They have a point of view and promote it, sometimes a bit too hard. It isn't "news".

They also don't lie, though they are all guilty of not spending time doing the work of their polar opposites.

"In respect to Time magazine, that cover is ridiculous."

Remember the fuss about the moved pyramids in National Geographic. From an article:

"The manipulation damaged the magazine’s credibility. Tom Kennedy, who became National Geographic’s Director of Photography after the incident, stated: “We no longer use that technology to manipulate elements in a photo simply to achieve a more compelling graphic effect. We regarded that afterwards as a mistake, and we wouldn’t repeat that mistake today."

It's pretty likely that the local Green Libertarian mafia views magazines like Time as providing news rather than an increasingly skinny amount of op-ed material. It's not just that everyone favors opinions that agree with their own, but that their opinions are based on nothing but feelz.

,,,Time magazine cover,,,baby crying,,,dead baby washed up on Syrian shore,,,re-watch the movie Broadcast News,,,try to work up a tear to make you seem more sincere and hook the viewer,,,

Don Bessee

They falkenews machine is not learning from its repeated mistakes. There was a time when the standards of journalism mattered, not at all now.

Don Bessee

Is Andera bucking to add herself to this list?

Don Bessee

Time to break it up?

Don Bessee

They are not even trying to hide the bias now, AP reported this with no background as if the President made it up. Is that up to your po' ol' fakenews standards?

But this is in fact came from a senior member of Iran's nuclear security committee that was part of the negotiations with team 0 who broke the news.

Hojjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zolnour, a high-ranking member of parliament and chairman of Iran's parliamentary nuclear committee, made the claim to Iranian state media, which was then picked up by Fox News. On Tuesday morning, President Trump jumped on the story, tweeting it out to his over 50 million followers.

Does 2500 green cards sound implausible in the context of an airplane full of cash and jewels as well as the 150 billion released from frozen accounts?

Account Deleted

The entire media bias deal has become a joke. A lot of the left leaning so-called "bias free" types came out of the closet when Trump ran for pres. After claiming repeatedly that they had no bias, many of the news media claimed they now had a 'moral' responsibility to stop Trump. So - they were lying for years. What a surprise. Conservative news deliverers and commentators never saw the need for lying about their opinions - only the lefties. I read all the major (and sometimes minor) outlets. I wait for all the facts to become available. At least as much as possible. Right now, there are so many loose ends re Obama's reign it isn't funny. I would really like to know how the left news readers can keep a straight face when reporting yet again (how many times?) about yet another Dem controlled computer that has gone missing or doesn't function. Funny how that never, ever happens with the R's computers.
The really odd detail about the left's complaint concerning Breitbart, Fox, et all is that their biggest bitch is when a left leaning pol or figure is accurately quoted. There is even an imbed of the entire video.
OMG!!!! Fake news, lies, lies!!! Maybe the video camera is the culprit?

George Rebane

ScottO 745pm - Agreed.

Bill Tozer

The libbie media is sooo hung up on crowd size.

Bill Tozer

I suppose it is not bias if you are stupid. Probably is bias or fakenews if you willfully play dumb. That is not being honest.
Guess they choose to remain in blissful ignorance. They say after awhile, you are no longer a victim but a volunteer.

“Even though immigrants who legally go to ports of entry and apply for asylum through the proper process are normally not detained except under unusual circumstances, Hayes gave the impression that legal asylum seekers were receiving similar treatment as those who break the law...”

That was a filler lead-in to get to what they really wanted to say:

“There are no words strong enough to describe how vile it is to use a child that you have taken from a parent who is fleeing danger as a hostage frankly in trade for them to sign away their asylum claims which are protected both under international law and American law. It is unconscionable indeed.”

Associated Press Provably On A Mission To Slander Trump Administration

What is blatant here to note — if Trump is so obviously venal and corrupt there should not be this constant need to create the evidence out of the ether.

Bill Tozer

More AP. Now, if they are grossly in error or just plum misleading, is that bias. Now, I suppose AP is what aBobbie would can news you can trust.

President Trump received criticism on Twitter after the death of Gunan was reported with some calling for him to comment on the loss of an American service member. However, none of these people were aware of the fact that Gunan was Thai.

The Associated Press had a penchant in the last 24 hours for misleading the public on issues that may sway public opinion of the current administration. A bit more effort in their reporting would be a welcome change.

Bill Tozer

No bias here, no siree.
