Like I've said all along: one eye blind. Of course the right is immune to any hint of myopia. ;)

George Rebane

rlc 1223pm - spoken like a true clear-eyed leftist, as noted ;-)

BTW, good cartoon in today's (25aug18) Union. Reminds me of the reports about the operations of UK's National Health Service, and the things to come when the Dems finally push through our single-payer nationalized healthcare system.

Don Bessee

You tell em sister!

While President Trump is busy making America great again, Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – who is expected to win a U.S. House seat in November in a heavily Democratic congressional district in New York City – is calling for policies that would turn the American Dream into the American Nightmare.
If you think the “socialist paradise” nations of Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea are the greatest countries on the planet, Ocasio-Cortez is the candidate for you.

George Rebane

DonB 1241pm - And DNC chair Perez anoints her as the future of the Democratic Party. What sane American would knowingly vote for a future from such a future?

Don Bessee

They are on the march -

Knowles said Saturday that he believes Democratic Socialists are targeting the teaching industry and as a result, students, because they can't win against adults.
"They can't win in the battle of ideas," he said.
He said that instead, Democratic Socialists are trying to cut off any thought of freedom by students and replace it with socialist ideology.
"They've got to indoctrinate an ideology rather than educate in history because if they teach history, they're going to lose," he said.
The pamphlet notes that organizing in schools is a way to "win concessions from the millionaire and billionaire class."

It's something to watch you all moaning over the Mueller purge. In the last few days, we see that the rats are crawling all over each other to get a deal with the traitorous Justice Dept. before Captain Twit blows any more self-inflicted holes in the hull.
It reminds me of those fun days of the Starr years when they would trot out Susan McDougal barefoot in chains to scare the living shit out of anyone who refused Kenny's advances. https://snn.bz/susan-mcdougal/
History does tend to repeat itself, horribly. Slick Willy managed to avoid walking the plank. Will Trump be as lucky?

George Rebane

DonB 130pm - And this makes it clear why the socialists of whatever hue are the 'enemies of the people'. 'Let me educate just one generation of children, and communism will rule the world.' V. Lenin. The Dems have had over two generations of America's children.

RE:IMHO National left/right polarization will make a quantum leap to a much higher level in the next twelve months....

One thing that is readily apparent to me is the stuff that is happening in the cities across our great land is not happening here in the foothills. Thus, posting comments about Antifa burning up UC Berekly to protest Milo rings hallow to locals on the Left. There is no hounding people out of business in Nevada City because someone of the wrong ethnicity is serving food from a different ethnicity., aka, cultural appropriation.
There is no outcry against micro-aggressions, no thought police running amok hauling one before a kangaroo court of their peers to face penatilies above and beyond the obligatory toxic masculinity re-education classes for making someone well uncomfortable by Invisible unconscious bias or the like.

There is not tearing down of statues past centuries built as monument to their time. Nevada City won’t need to tear down a statue of Sargant if they never put it up, lol.
No anti-Hate marches down Mill Street in GV or Broad Street in Nevada City with windows being smashed, reporters attracted, or police being screamed at and spat upon to show the world what anti-hate looks like. No calls for Grass Valley or the county to go through every ordinance and record on the books to remove gender specific pronouns. No demands for gender neutral bathrooms in our parks. Hey, a Johnny on the Spot works great for that purpose, but I will forge on.

No being chased out of restaurants for wearing a MAGA hat or having folks’ place of work and pictures of one’s abode circulated because one disagrees with my posts or someone says something offensive at a townhall. No we handle that pretty much in comments sections and let it be. Let our fingers do the walking.

The biggest thing that happened here in years and got the crowds riled up and on the overpass (as well as packing into the courtroom) was the Opossum Affair. The OWS issue got crowd up and out, but they looked more like a candlelight vigil. Temperatures rose when the debate went on and on about hanging those strings of lights over Commerical Street. Sure, the marijuana issues packed them in, but no cops were called to quell the unrest in the BOS chambers.
No MS-13 gangbangers running around these parts using machetes and torturing people before disembowelling them. No racial tensions boiling over on a nightly basis, no block against block, no neighborhood against neighborhood, no cries of Gentrification. Our neighborhoods are already middle class. And homogenous. And the antics of the Antafa and the Alt-Left seem so far away.

What I am trying to say is the club I use to hit back and wack the Unhinged and Lefties upside the head with are stories and articles and memes about what the Leftinistas are going other places....other places, not here. So, I noticed it often falls flat or misses by a mile because the targets have not a clue what I am talking about. They cannot relate. Uninformed. They don’t see it here, it’s not in their face here, it’s not in their daily lives here. Bashing what’s going on daily on our campuses is met with puzzlement because their minds go to Sierra College or what it was like when they went to Cal back in the day. Can’t relate.

With all that laid out, here there is indeed an unspoken tension. A sitting on your own farts, if you will. I don’t wear my MAGA hat in public. Not because I am afraid or ashamed, but I just want to get to the market without talking politics in the checkout line or go to grap a cup of mud without some look or sly comment. I ain’t out for a confrontation or wish to make a statement or be a billboard proclaiming my beliefs everywhere I go. But, then again, sticks and stones can break my bones and words can never hurt me. I will speak opening, caring little if overheard, but I ain’t looking to get in someone’s face at a diner nor do I want to have someone in my face when I am at the ATM. The problem is politics (Trump!) has taken too large of a role in [our] emotional and mental capacities. It needs to be put back in its place, cut back down to its proper size.

The other day the phone rang. An “emergency” came up (friend broken down on a street in GV) and I hit the door in seconds. Biker Bill to the rescue! I grabbed a ballcap on the way out of he door and fired up the bucket of bolts. It just so happened my friend was broken down in front of a old friend I have known for many years. Small world. She saw me and came straight over and gave me a big hug and we joyously exchanged how good it was to see each other again after these past years. Then her face changed dramatically and said, “Oh, you are one of those.” Unbeknownst to me, the ballcap I grabbed leaving the house in a rush was my prestine MAGA hat. I replied, “Yep, I am one of those!” I turned to help my friend whose car broke down and she turned and walked inside her home.

It’s here, just without the punches and spitting and getting in your face. And they are clueless because they don’t believe or won’t believe it can happen here. It’s coming, it’s here, whether or not you ever heard of Milo or shadow banning or The Great Divide.

Account Deleted

I suppose the most puzzling (to me) thing about what is happening in our country is the sincere belief by the left that our divide is because of 'divisive' rhetoric by Trump, etal.
Let's suppose they do impeach and throw out Trump. Then what? Has the left even thought that far? Well - some have. "And then we'll go after Pence". Yep - an actual quote.
Good luck with that.
The issues are still extant. Trump ran on issues he is really delivering on or trying to deliver on. That's why people voted for him. He had sex with not-his-wife? You mean like Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Reagan? Did he molest and rape like Clinton?
The left thinks getting rid of Trump will get rid of those who oppose their core principles. It won't. And it can get worse - much worse.
Free health care for everyone with open borders? Really? That's what the left wants. Not my opinion - it's their stated goal.
Just as a random add - guy down the street used to fly the American flag and the MIA flag. After the brouhaha with folks toppling civil war era statues, he started flying the Stars And Bars. He's not racist or southern or any of that. He's just upset at the left and their NAZI attitude and he's flying it just to piss them off.
This is all just going to escalate nation-wide.

I think there's a truth in that. I'm still LMAO about the concept of millions of 'gypsies' invading Europe by Mr. M

Maybe it's some sort of code, kind of like the use of 'Canadians' by restaurant servers.

The thing is, if you stay away from Evil Pubber Websites (or international news for that matter), you'll never hear anything about what is going on in the world. After all, they are mostly news aggregators and the CNNs of the world are going to mine only the Trumphate vein of ore until the money and clicks run dry.

In addition, the twists and turns of the state intelligence apparatus re:The Clintons and the like is so complicated that it's simpler to do a hand waving about conspiracy theories and go on to the next topic.

[Of course, there are always differences in opinions and latitude is freely given my moi to those who interpret thing differently than I would and do. No problem there. Scenes: while you are stuck on gypies, I am stuck on ‘what kind of lawyer would have his client plead guilty to a crime....blah, blah, blah. Answer: Maybe a Clinton Mob Boss lawyer, The Clinton Crime Syndicate fixer possibly is that kind of “trial lawyer”, lol.

What makes me have those ‘Say What?’ moments in the Union letters is I cannot believe how uninformed some folks are. Everything seems to get turned on its head, the instigator becomes the innocent bystander, the perpetuator becomes the victim. When I think nothing could surprise me anymore, I get surprised again. The torch carrying mob storming Dr. Frankenstein's lab is turned into Dr. Frankenstein’s lab is storming the peasants quietly sleeping in their hobbles. And what really get my jaw to hit the floor above all else is how the molehill becomes the mountain.... or the mountain simply does not exist.

We have seen the Project Veritas tapes. The Dem paid operatives planning how to disrupt Trump rallies, going out into the streets hiring homeless folks among others besides their reliable stable of go to thugs those that are willing, able, and pre-disposed to violence Then training them. Instructions are given what to do, placement of folks in front of cameras, off cameras, and all orchasted to get someone to react to flip the story that the Trump attendees are the aggressors and violent ones. The tapes have the planners recorded boasting on their success, how much they are paid by the Democrat Party, their tactics, etc. Pelt them with eggs, push them, strike them, shove them, scream and spit and punch women off camera..and if and when someone reacts....catch it on camera and put the tales of woe how innocent peacefull protestors are being viciously attacked, whipped up by Trump to commit violence, ROFLMAO. I especially liked the elderly disabled lady with the oxygen tank saying how awful it was that Trumpers attacked her, all the while she was paid in advance to be pushed by the Dem operatives, rehearsed it, then blame it on violent Trumpers. She spilled the beans to a “man on the street” reporter, was quite candid, and appreciated the money. Sign her up. Trumpers push down little old lady with oxygen tank!! Evil people do sick things...or is that sick people do evil things?

So, I read in the Union letters that ALL the violence is coming from one place and one place only: The Far Right. The extreme far far right that is outmof touch with the mainstream. And all the violence and hate and ALL the divisiveness is coming from Trump. That is the common theme I read a lot. Jaw dropping time.

It’s fake news! It’s a lie! It’s edited tapes! It never happened! It’s a conspiracy theory!
No, it’s ‘Say What?’ time.
If Mr. Cross was being truthful and really never heard that Comey wrote the exoneration letter of Hillary before 16 key witnesses (including My Gal Hill) were even interviewed, then I just have to believe him and wonder where exactly is he getting his “news”. Never heard of it? Ok, try Senate Intel Committee testimony for starters. Just starters. Like, it’s common FBI practice to write the conclusion before the evidence is collected, right?Conspiracy theory! They found nothing! Only 100 FBI agents on the case and 6 Justice Department lawyers from the cream of the cream DOJ-National Security Division all came to the opposite conclusion. But, that is ‘t the point, now is it?

Lady Justice has an eye patch on? One eyed trouser trout is more like it.

"M" sez: "The birther/deniers keep that patch firmly in place over their Left eye"

Birther? I don't much care where Obama was born given his mother's proclivity with sleeping with African political figures. As a US citizen, there's a strong moral case that he was one himself no matter what. As I remember, the only case to be made was that there was a change in US citizenship law floating around his birth year. We'll never know given the secrecy surrounding his background. It's not an argument I cared or care much about.

Denier? Of course there's human effect on ecosystems and a fairly large die-off that occurs when they show up on a piece of property. It's fair to say that the climate guys are (a)shitty at long term prediction and (b)attempting to roll in a resource grab and political change along with their pontificating. Want less ecological problems? Don't import masses of people to the first world, allow the West to decrease in population, for God's sake do something about Africa. I'm afraid that your recycling bin and Nissan Leaf aren't going to do squat.

Strawmen are boring.

Bill Tozer

And all this time I thought deniers were all about 9/11 being some CIA Deep State Bush knew in advance plot to take over the Middle East and all that oil. Kinda like the Pearl Harbor attack, but all those Zeros and old footage are kinda hard to explain away.

So, if Deniers are bad and Truthers are bad, is there any good out there?

scenes

"So, if Deniers are bad and Truthers are bad, is there any good out there?"

You know, probably not. When your belief system is built on tearing down what is... to replace it with a bit of hand waving about what could be... nothing that exists tends to be good.

I've always admired 'denier' though and it's quasi-Nazi ring. It's just further proof that the Left's foundation myth is built on Hitler and slavery rather than George Washington's cherry tree, the Mayflower, and Thermopylae.

Thanks, scenes - 3:45 McCain in uniform served our nation and I'll thank him for that, but as a so-called Republican he did not exactly honor the Constitution as a solon. He was called a 'maverick' which to me means he had no set principles of governance I could ever trust him with to uphold. He always seemed to be more inclined to be working for his own standing with the Washington in-crowd.
Of course when he ran for pres he was a NAZI as was Romney and Reagan when he was a governor and POTUS.
Amazing how fast their standings from satan to American hero go among the Dems and the American left.
The running joke now is how will the left find new superlatives of super-double-evilness if Pence takes the reins?

Yes, McCain was evil and could do nothing right when he was running for Pres...according to the left. And Sarah Palin was a deplorable before it was cool, despite being a Governor of a very large state.

I can't say I've ever been impressed with McCain myself, but he deserves great respect for his service in wartime.

With all the excited hype that the Conquering Cortex is the new face of the Democrat Party (and Bernie Sanders is now considered too far right by some) I decided to check out her victory that has rocked the Democrat Party.

“But only about 13 percent of registered Democrats turned out to vote in the 14th Congressional District that takes in parts of Queens and the Bronx, according to a preliminary city Board of Elections tally
There are 214,750 active registered Democratic voters in the district. Only 27,744 voted, and Ocasio-Cortez won by more than 4,000 votes.

In another hotly contested race in Brooklyn’s 9th Congressional District, Rep. Yvette Clarke squeaked by insurgent Adem Bunkeddeko 52 to 48 percent. But turnout was only about 9 percent — with 28,266 out of 313,949 eligible Democrats voting.”

Re: scenes on Sandbox, 2:20 pm 8/27 about South Africa, the Boars, and the Afrikaans.

The short story (Readers Digest version) is the Dutch people up and moved their community 1,000 miles north to get away from the British after the British colonized the Cape. Tough independent people. Johannesburg is not Cape Town.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trekboer

To appear fair and balanced, the farther North by Northeast you go, the more the area is sparsely populated and the few police there are have to cover huge areas. Disclaimer over.

What gets me is the viciousness of the crimes. The time spent on these “botched” robberies/burglaries. Take Granny, kill her husband, then grab the Mikita and drill holes through her feet as she sits there. Then take a fork a dig out her eyeballs. If she cries out, she will be killed. She sits in silence thinking what else can they do to me. Botched robbery.

The other one that got me was a family in a home invasion. They young dad told them to take anything they want, just don’t hurt my family. Take all the money and things I have. His little daughter ran to her room and came back with her piggy bank. She held it up to the “burglar” and said, “Here, take this.” The armed man looked down at the little girl then raised his gun and shot her father between the eyes in front of her. Botched robbery.

And Seth Richards was a botched robbery with nothing missing and no signs of struggle.

George Rebane

I wonder where are our leftwingers here to continue downplaying the SA atrocities that the blacks are committing against white farmers. Some even accused those who pointed out the ongoing atrocities (these didn't start yesterday), covered up by SA's ANC, as being racists, thereby further diluting any meaning which that appellation may yet retain.

Bill Tozer

It’s revenge. Finally, our leftists get to extract their pound of flesh. Colonialism is an abhorrent evil. Must, must, must be atoned for. Never brought to justice. Just ask Obama’s grandfather, as told to young Obama by his father. Tales of My Father. Only POC are victims and only white people can be racists.

What this impeachment nonsense is all about is the Dems salavating over extracting their pound of flesh. Revenge for Bubba and revenge for racist America electing Trump. They are superior to us. They have waiting a long time for this hour, but not as long as I have waiting for The Wall...or a good orderly direction. SA is no different, no mattter how loudly the SA government says there is no racial or political motivations to the killings. Marxism.

Aw crap, the socialist/dems might be having a brief bout of common sense -

The latest rallying cry from the far left to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isn’t a likely winner this election year, as a new poll finds only a quarter of Democrats support eliminating the agency supported by the Trump administration.

New Report Exposes Global Warming ‘Law Enforcement for Rent’

Report details how wealthy donors are paying for lawyers to pursue environmental cases by state AGs

By Brendan Kirby

Deep-pocketed global warming activists have been pouring big bucks into attorneys general’s offices to pay for lawyers to advance their agenda and use the powers of the law to take actions they never could achieve alone, according to a new report.

Released Wednesday by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), the 56-page document dubbed “Law Enforcement for Rent” paints a damning view of the cozy relationship between environmental activists and Democratic attorneys general in several states that have pulled off an end run around the democratic process — grabbing resources they have not been able to get from lawmakers.

“This is political. We have a policymaking process. They tried it and failed,” said Christopher Horner, a fellow at the think tank who wrote the report. “So their stance is, ‘It’s not working, so we’re going to use law enforcement.’”

Horner said the tactic has given environmental activists a new avenue to increase restrictions on carbon emissions after Congress rebuffed them, the Supreme Court blocked a regulatory plan then-President Barack Obama offered, and other supportive politicians lost races at the state and national levels.

The idiotic defacement of the stop sign could easily have been from some confused green libertarian flying a false flag to scare up some enthusiasm among the regressive Progressives in town.

Either...

1) there were some right wing ideologues who thought they'd scare the visiting Frisco Mime Troupe with a silly sign.

2) it was a sign placed in the vicinity of the Mime Troupe to set the mood, by the Mime Troupe

3) it was placed by a Miners Foundry person to set the mood

I think the last two are more plausible than the first.

Many important details are unknown, in part because they remain to be negotiated. But the centerpiece of the agreement—a set of new and complex rules constraining trade in the automobile industry—could be problematic for the US auto sector, and for Mexico and Canada as well. At the least, the new rules will raise the price of autos for US consumers.’’’

The sign:
My first reaction is “Who uses stencils anymore?” Stencils? No overspray on the edges of the letters either, so the letters were taped down properly and with relative proper spacing between the words. The only ones I know who used stencils, have stencils, and the words pretty much arranged correctly on poster board signs are folks in theatrical art departments.

Yep, had to be someone with a art department background. The blue used has a tincture of effervesce, not to mention the double faced taped used to mount the sign. Very clean. A deplorable would have used duct tape or ugly masking tape on cardboard, not nice clean poster board. No, the mischief maker was someone who had experience in art departments for theatrical productions, one has readily available access to such tools of the trade. A deplorable would have used ugly black makers as well, not to mention spelling Berkely incorrectly.

So, after all these decades, a sign magically appears right in front of the Miners Foundry on a night a theathrical production comes to Nivarna City to dis bitter clinger Righties using the word ‘patriot’. Interesting. And it took over ten days for our Popinjay to vent his outrage. And it was about 10 days ago that FB removed The Last American Patriot page and all links to the site from the internet. Coincidence?

Well, I would have called the Governor after having the Nevada City PD view any surveillance video in vicinity and dusting for fingerprints. Such violence cannot be tolerated in a civil society. Then I definitely would have forwarded this hate crime to the Southern Poverty Law Centet so they could have entered the Miners Foundry and Nevada City in their database as a hotbed or hatred and violent crimes. The SPLA does indeed provide the FBI with information when such dispicable dastardly assaults on our civil liberties occurs. But, that’s just me.
Me thinks thou doth protest too much. Waited 10-11 days? Interesting. More proof that the frontal lobe does not develop decades into adulthood by certain folks from certain specific regions.

That very day, Paul pops up and claims that he had heard of this happening. An hour or so later the story morphed into actually seeing the dreaded sign. Of course, at this point the sign was spotted by KVMR about 10 days ago or so, but wasn't mentioned until yesterday.

I only play a lawyer on TV, but I doubt this would hold up in court.

George Rebane

Re the stenciled sign. Stencils imply that more than one of these signs were made at their manufacture. I asked PaulE last week if any more of these signs of rightwing violence were to be found in the county. At the time he was not aware of any more of these. So the question is, where are the rest, and where did they come from and when, since its a little strange that someone in Nevada County would make a stencil for just one sign.

There can't be a "deal" until after at least a 90 day comment period "'M'"oron!

I'm simply not buying any of it. Tiny chance of actual miscreant. Huge chance of Green Libertarian performance art.

GeorgeR: "I wonder where are our leftwingers here to continue downplaying the SA atrocities that the blacks are committing against white farmers."

There's usually a funny kind of whack-a-mole at work there.

Typically, it'll alternate between:

. It never happened.
. If it happened, they deserve it.

So, your bases are pretty much covered.

 Bill Tozer

Life Inmitates art. The mounting of the ghastly sign has me playing Columbo. Or Kojak. Whether the sign was mounted with double face tape or spray adhesive, I cannot say. But. I can imagine a scenario where the traveling troupe of artisans pull out the sign from the truck of the car, slap it on something near the venue they will be performing that night, grab the sign after the show is over, toss it back in the trunk (or van/mini van) and use it again for the next place the mimes are scheduledto delight audiences.

Imagine the perpetrator of the evil crime putting the props back into the getaway car after the performance, then going outside to retrieve the sign. “Hey, somebody ripped off the sign!” Bummer. Probably hanging right now on some Gen Y’s bedroom wall down in Mom’s basement.

Bottom Line: My inner Inspector Clouseau leads me to go with Gregory’s #2. Gregory's #2....no stink ass pun intended.

scenes

For shits 'n grins, I say that the cops, city council, and newspaper really get involved. Paul, as the public face of RR, could go down and make the case that he is fearing for his life.

The NCPD could break away from whatever duties they have and collect evidence. Interview Paul, check for cameras in the area, ponder why a newspaper dance writer from San Francisco would have had exactly the same sign right by her house as a San Francisco dance troupe several months later.

The main thing that irritates me is the assumption that evil pubber Trump people are illiterates. Fake signs always get the grammar wrong, it's like the ever-present backwards letters in an old Our Gang serial.

edit: "San Francisco dance troupe" ->"San Francisco performance troupe"

. Have LE or CA Justice Department in Sac check the data bases to see if there are other localities that have reported such hate crimes....then cross references for the key words (stink-asses is a great starting point) and then check the violent sign crime with the schedule and places the Traveling Salvation Show has appeared inthe last 14 or so months. That’s what I would do if I were on the hunt.

You can rail against hate, violence, and hateful violence without belief in a god, but never without belief in a devil.

Look, it's Sabo, the conservative guerrilla artist of Los Angeles.

Ah yes. Theses are universal human traits of the human condition, irrespective of race, creed, sexual orientation, or policial view. It’s who we are. Ain’t easy being a spiritual being having a human experience. Sort of like Brain on Family Guy. No matter how great a suave and debonair persona he exudes to others, he just can’t keep himself from pissing on a fire hydrant or dry humping someone’s leg. It’s kind of fun to call the devils ‘unhinged’.

Moving on.....

Gregory

The novel "Love and Kierkegaard in the Age of Trump" by Rachael Hunter, who lives in Nevada City, has the same wording of Paul's sign but describes it having happened several months earlier, and this in a book review that had several months lag time, from a book that had probably been finished many moons before that.

In the novel, it was described as being in red, and defacing a speed limit sign near her home. Which is in Nevada City according to her website, rachelhunter.com

I doubt many (make that ANY) right-wing folk had seen any part of her new novel (to be published by a real publisher in April '19) a year ago or so. Was the earlier sign a real thing, or a figment of an active literary imagination?

Curious. Paul Emery, do you know Rachel Hunter?

Another sign has emerged. I'll send you a copy. It was from May 9 last year and also was blocking a crucial road sign which illustrates a total disregard for public safety.

Don Bessee

You so FUNNY! @ 1055 'disregard for public safety' LOL!! ;-)

Gregory

Paul, a dangling question, yes or no... do you know Rachel Hunter?

 Bill Tozer

Make that check the data base from the last 2 years, not 14 months or so. Ah, make it going bac to the first week in November, 2016. They are still seeing Red.

What we have here is some goofball in a shack in the woods. A recluse. Our own Unabomber. Bet when they catch the menance to society, he is a white dude that knows urban lingo...and his name is Ted. Moved here from Berkeley. Fits the profile.

Gregory

May 9, 2017? That would fit the "Age of Trump" mention. Was it in red, on a Nevada City speed limit sign?

Paul Emery

Not that I recall Gregory. Tell me something about her that might refresh my memory.

Paul Emery

Idon't recall meeting her Gregory. I've heard the name because of the book.

Gregory

"She lives in Nevada City, CA, where she founded Yuba Writers’ Workshops, and a reading series, Yuba Lit, now a fiscally sponsored project of the Nevada County Arts Council."

Paul Emery

Just wondering what you're motivation was to mention her name and questioning me if I knew her, Why was that important Gregory?

 Bill Tozer

The more I think about it, the vandal could be a woman with experience in such matters. The color choice, the reference in the author’s words, the woman’s touch on the fisinished product, the slightly altered wording to keep up with the times. Only a greenhorn would not know using double face tabs works best (far superior) only on flat non porous surfaces. Wooden posts are not an option. Metal polls are to be avoided also because an opposite wind direction would knock the abominable thing clear off. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Oh, she is good I tell you. And evolving. Berkeley Traitors Go Home. Well, that could be a few thousand people around these parts and it is a common widespread sentiment found outside the Bubble Burg off Broadstreet. Friggin flatlanders!
This may take awhile to whittle the list of sociopaths in Nevada County down to nab her. There is a lot of persons of interest to surveil. Men are from Mars, women from some other place..

Or maybe, just maybe, a certain Popinjay is concerned that these kind of terrorist capers could affect the monetary bottom line. Attendee intimation. Ah, a true capitalist motivated by self interest.

Gregory

So, Punch, to recap with the name correct... do you know Rachel Howard, author of the book excerpted in the LA Review of Books, and someone who described the sign's words from a sighting that was possibly more than a year ago?

Please note... I made no claim that she had anything to do with it. I think it very possible someone known to you and to her DID have something to do with it.

While it isn't impossible that some deranged whitey-righty made the sign and plastered it onto a couple of traffic signs in Nirvana Silly, it's a dubious proposition.

Rachel Howard

I am Rachel Howard. The essay in the Los Angeles Review of Books is not an excerpt from my novel. It's an essay I wrote (entirely separate from my novel) and LARB published. That sign was posted near my house last year. I have no idea who created the sign and no conspiracy theories about it. It did rattle me. As the essay says, I called the police and they took that sign down. I'm sorry I haven't had enough time to read your thread here today as I am under many deadlines, so I am just jumping in to clarify who I am and what I wrote. Peace to all.

Paul Emery

Gregory

I sent George a copy of an identical sign sighting from May 2017 on or near Sacramento Street.

So you think it's a "dubious proposition" that some deranged "whitey-righty" made and plastered the signs. Somebody did it Gregory, what is your best guess as to who?

There are other signs that the police have been made aware of by the way. They were different from these signs but were similar in style and typesetting and were very pro shrill; right . First of all that's ok. they were on private property but meant to be publically noted since they were down by the road. they were just down the road from the foundry and were taken down. I'll give an update as to what their content was.

Gregory

You bet, Rachael. Thanks for chiming in, sorry for getting the LARB issue skewed.

Paul, I'd bet real money that wasn't made or posted by anyone on the right side of the aisle. A caricature of a right wing threat by someone on the left. The hard left.

Paul Emery

Here is some of the wordings on signs posted for public view on private property just down the road from the sign posted the day of the Mime Troupe performance. they have been taken down.

Paul Emery

they were very similar in style and typesetting to the other signs. A little more elaborate though using above mentioned symbols.

Paul Emery

So Gregory in your view you are willing to bet that the signage was created and posted by someone on the hard left. What would their motivation be? this has been going on for a year and a half so it's not spontaneous that's for sure.

George Rebane

Re this signage teapot tempest - someone who remembers the underlying point of this thread should again remind all of us. Otherwise the ongoing forensics on spelling, composition, and stencilology is going to get more than a bit silly.

Paul Emery

I disagree George. Details are everything in the search for truth.

Gregory

Paulo, the signs I've seen to date are what I'd be willing to bet on.

The new claims by you are not. Strange you didn't mention them until now.

Please, any pictures, send to George.

scenes

"Are you saying she might have planted the signs Gregory?"

I don't think that anyone is suggesting anything, just that the whole deal is a bit sketchy. NC KKK? Maybe. All one or two of them. Pubbers? Probably not. Skate kids with some time? Maybe. False flag? Just as likely. Paul running around with stencils? Unlikely unless he bought a pretty tall ladder.

A proper Reich-Wing sign would be something like: "Illegal is a crime, not a race. Trump 2020". It's catchier and actually sounds authentic. No stencils though. Rednecks use sharpies and cardboard.

GeorgeR: "someone who remembers the underlying point of this thread should again remind all of us. "

It's probably a combination of things, which you can see nationally. Paul is clutching his pearls. Mostly there's a high tendency to see faces in clouds. Nationally, practically any heinous act by evil white supremacist Republican teabagger bastards has been shown to be a fraud (I'm happy to supply links), so the tendency on the Right wing of the aisle is to laugh off all the fake rude behavior. The folks on the Left have fielded an army on the streets with plenty of signs, but are convinced there's some sort of right wing conspiracy to shoot POC and anyone who votes in favor of public healthcare.

It's a grand folly of stupidity, largely fueled by the internet.

Rachel Howard: "I am Rachel Howard. "

Welcome. Stick around. Defending your ideas is a good hone for your intellect.

 Bill Tozer

“(uses various logos including nazi, white power and communist symbols)
the police were notified about these and they have been taken down”....and the FUE has Sheriff Royal’s number on his speed dial.

Nazis, Communist, and white power. Well, the first two describe the Far Left to a tee under the umbrella of Leftininstas of All Stripes.

As a side note, the real Nazi’s went out into the streets and found homeless criminally insane males or those with a propensity for violence to use as the executioners in the concentration camps. They previously worked out quite well as the thugs the Brownshirts used to get in the face of political opposition. Very reminiscent of the tactics the Democrat Party used to disrupt Trump Rallies in 2016, as captured on the Project Veritas tapes. 2 of of 3 fit the profile.

Now, what about white power component? Is it possible that one of the remaining 2,000 White Supremists in our nation of 300 plus million is living among us? Who is he? Who I ask. Is it the guy next door, the gal at the bank, the person who sells local eggs to restaurants? Someone who once worked for the Post Office and is disgruntled?

In a weird way, the asthetics of the sign with it’s crisp clean background with no dog eared corners tells me that someone took pride in craftsmanship, making the sign with love in every legible letter. Easily to read. Simple is best. The esthetics and presentation is as important as the meaning of the letters. That’s why I believe the perp is female, or at a minimum, a queer eye for a straight guy is involved.
Now, if you take the first letter from each word and the 2nd and 3rd vowel from every other line, there is a message in there. A clue, if you prefer. A calling card literally left on the scene of the crime.

Boy, the cops have been informed and quietly been putting the pieces together behind the scenes for over a year now. I sure hope Punchy did not torpedo their investigation by opening his big trap and spilling the beans. Hate to alert the target that they are on to him. A person of very special interest.

Whoever you are out there, stop it. Stop it and all will be forgiven. Problem solved.

George Rebane

I don't think Mr Tozer can document the 2,000 white supremacists number, because most likely there aren't that many of them out there. Now I'm talking about those who so declare themselves, not the number that are ascribed by the Left - for them there are at least 200,000 of them out there, maybe more. By the comments and commentaries of our local Left, I am one of those so identified (even by our middle roader in residence) white supremacists. Perhaps some other RR readers are also thrown into that tumbril-in-waiting.

Paul Emery

Why is it so hard to document you're statement Scenes? You agreed to supply links to back up you're somewhat bombastic statement.

George Rebane

Are organizations that promote the interests of any specific ethnic or racial group - say, blacks, whites, Latinos, Asians, ... - necessarily also advocating their group's "supremacy". By our leftist compiler (215pm) the answer to that question is a resounding YES! if your group consists of whites or Europeans. This is the kind of reasoning celebrated at our neighboring blog hosted by RL Crabb, and which I expand on in 'Quo Vadis Democrats?'

Gregory

Let's give the highest estimate for the KKK off that list of yours, Paul. 8000.

That means there's roughly one KKK member per 8000/300,000,000 people, or, assuming 50,000 people in Nirvana County, California.... there's one KKK member in Nevada County.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to figure out who it is.
