Paul didn't study his faith too well.
"The deists were what nowadays would be called freethinkers, a name, indeed, by which they were not infrequently known; and they can only be classed together wholly in the main attitude that they adopted, viz. in agreeing to cast off the trammels of authoritative religious teaching in favour of a free and purely rationalistic speculation. Many of them were frankly materialistic in their doctrines;

That pretty much describes a LIB.

Where did you get that quote Walt?

That of course includes Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, both Deists at he time of the Revolution and writing of the Constitution.

Paul at 7:06 - "...the acceptance of a certain body of religious knowledge that is inborn in every person or that can be acquired..."
You realize that statement is total BS.
First of all - where is this 'body of knowledge'?
Secondly - 'is inborn in every person or can be acquired'?
Trying to understand why it needs to be acquired when it's already there.
I'm wondering what kind of human claims to have a 'body of knowledge' they can't write down or point to. If it's a 'body' of knowledge, then it must exist somewhere in some sort of permanent, accessible form.
Oh yeah, I know - we're making it up right now as fast as we can.
This isn't religion - it's a disease of the mind.

Don Bessee

On Pawn Stars the head of the Nevada museum system is called the beard of knowledge, the po' ol' fakenewsman trying to wrap himself in the constitution @ 748 earns a nickname for him. The pony tail of ignorance.

Paul thinks he's a wildebeest. Instincts alone food. Water. Pass on genes. Stay alive. don't get eaten.
Now nudged to the outer ranks of the herd. Long in the tooth. Natural selection will play out.

You never mind where I found that. I don't have to tell you.
I'm playing by your rules.

Now THERE is a good one Don!!! You just branded Paul on the left cheek of his ass with that.

George Rebane wrote: "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone ..."

[1] Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
[2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Paul Emery

The Bible is filled with lovely poetry Jill. Why is it so few Christians follow the lessons of the Bible? Here in this blog there are those that consider Trump a Stud and justify everything he does even if it includes forcing himself on women. Show me the humility.

Walt

Jill. Other than Paul, none here claim to be without sin.
I have done my share.(and then some) If I ever went to confession(sorry,, not Catholic) I would burn out three veteran preachers who would need therapy after the fact.

Walt

But Paul will go to HELL for LYING. He loves to bare false witness.
You just accused Trump of something you have no evidence of.
Look up the meanings of "did" and "you could".
Oh.. Telling lies is fine with your beliefs. Got it
Thanks.

What teachings in the bible would justify what Trump did in separating hundreds of children from their parents?

Golly Paul Emery, I think you mean Obama. Trump passed a EO to forbid that Obama practice. But of course, you knew that. Hey, tell us all the Ten commandments equivalent of you deists. Is it written or just passed on orally from generation to generation. And did you, a previous heathen goat killer Druid, take a baptism to cleanse your soul?

Paul Emery

Todd you are factually wrong about this but I won't even try to explain it to you.

I hear you're starting a chapter of Studs for Jesus here in Nevada County. SFJ's believe that men are ordained by God to dominate women.

Whatever works for you Todd. I guess you ran out leads in the dating service you subscribed to.

Todd Juvinall

Factually wrong about what? And where is that diest bible that you are following now? And yes, it is called Todd and Trump, Studs one and all. You could not join though sorry.

"What teachings in the bible would justify what Trump did in separating hundreds of children from their parents?"
That would be a doctrine of protecting the children, Paul.
They don't show up at the border with photo ID cards with fingerprints.
No one at the border has any factual knowledge of exactly who is related to who and what their previous history is.
These are people who are untrustworthy to start with as they are intending to break the law and deceive the authorities.
One guy showed up with a 'daughter' he had been sexually molesting.

If you cared at all about the factually of what you just said you would find that the vast majority of the children were separated from their parents and family. Hundreds are still waiting to be united with their ones. .

"On the morning of September 7, the national news announced that with Trump’s new plans for detention, families could be held in custody for months, even years awaiting the resolution of their asylum claims. It was also disclosed that as of that date, there were still 497 children waiting to be reunited with their families. Of this number, 14 were below the age of 5."

From the Conservative Wall Street Journal poll

Congressional Republicans are facing a mid-term election wipeout fueled by voter resistance to President Donald Trump, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The survey, six weeks before Americans head to the polls, shows Democrats leading Republicans by 52 percent to 40 percent for control of Congress. If it holds, that 12 percentage point margin would suggest a "blue wave" large enough to switch control of not just the House but also the Senate.

"The results could not be clearer about making a change in direction from Trump's policies," explained Bill McInturff, the Republican pollster who helps conduct the NBC/WSJ survey. "Once again, Americans are hitting the brakes in a mid-term."

Fighting Back

Today’s mainstream media journalists have become nothing more than left-wing extremist activists. They routinely lie to the American public and savor the personal destruction of conservatives.

It’s time to fight back.

I am [post writer]raising money to hire a private investigation firm to fully investigate the backgrounds of members of our news media.

This effort will be transparent and a group effort: contributors will help choose which journalists are investigated.

Morn'n folks. Try and keep Paul living in the here and now,, and not the long past that he strives to live in... No, Paul has issues dealing with current issues.

Paul. If you want to keep shredding the Constitution, remember, that "right" will get shredded right along with the rest of them.

The vast majority?
That is an after-the-fact finding.
It doesn't alter the fact that when they are apprehended they have no proof of who is related to who.
The police and CPS separate children from their law-breaking parents every day, Paul. Been doing it for a long time.
If illegals don't like getting separated from their children, then don't try to cross illegally.
If you want to blame some one for crying children, it's the parents who are at fault.
It's all of bunch of left wing BS anyway.

 Bill Tozer

Civility is shrinking and civil peace may be in jeopardy. Masked anarchists use force to block conservatives from speaking in public forums. The free speech crisis on and off campus will not be solved until the premises of victimology are challenged directly and exposed as fraudulent.

The academic obsession with identity is ironic, since its roots lie in a philosophy that denied the very existence of the self. In the 1970s, the literary theory of deconstruction took over humanities departments with a curious set of propositions about language.

Because linguistic signs were arbitrary, successful communication was said to be impossible. Most surprisingly, the human subject was declared to be a fiction, a mere play of rhetorical tropes.

In the 1980s, however, the self came roaring back with a vengeance as feminists and race theorists took the mannered jargon of deconstruction and turned it into a political weapon. The key deconstructive concept of linguistic “différance” became identity difference between the oppressed and their oppressors; the prime object of study became one’s own self and its victimization.

The most significant change concerned attitudes toward the Western intellectual tradition. Deconstructive theorists such as Paul de Man and Jacques Derrida performed their interpretive sleights of hand on Proust, Rousseau, Plato, Shelley, and Wordsworth, among other leading philosophers and writers. They did not disparage these complex texts as the contemptible products of dead, white males. Multiculturalism, which took over literary studies in the 1980s, destroyed that respect for the canon while continuing the deconstructive stance of exposing alleged subtexts and suppressed meanings.

What had been an epistemological project became a political one.

The reason why we cannot rely on the FBI report — you wouldn't like it if we did. Because it is inconclusive. They say he said, she said, and they said. Period. So when people are waving FBI report before you, understand they do not, they do not, they do not reach conclusions. I posted a comment to a letter at The Union, copying here:

By her linkedin page Ms. Denney does not "teach" Agriculture at Chico State. She has a Bachelors and a Masters in "Agriculture Education" from Chico (which apparently has as much to do with Agriculture as Math Education has with Mathematics... not much), and was a lecturer as a grad student, ending in 2014 when she was awarded the masters. Since then, she's been mostly a self employed Instructional Design Consultant/Learning Designer.

Being a Congresscritter would be the best job ever for young Ms. Denney.

She also has been associated with a central American human rights organization, Cristosal, since 2007, and as their Vice President Board of Directors for the past two years, a volunteer post. Cristosal is an Open Society Foundation organization... George Soros' group... heroes to some, devils to others.

Folks, there is practically no chance for Denney to win the seat; she's a designated loser, there in case LaMalfa makes a fatal mistake in his campaign. Vote for her if you want Nancy Pelosi to be speaker again and vote for LaMalfa if you don't want Pelosi as speaker again. If hell freezes over in a Blue Wave in November, she won't have much of a voice as a freshman representative and would pretty much have to vote as she's told.

How low will they go?? Oh, we ain’t seen nothing yet. They will go real low.

There area lot of single Moms out there with sons from both sides of the aisle that are afraid if their boys sneak off to a party somewhere and have a beer, their lives could be ruined way down the road. Those Moms pray there isn’t a girl within a mile of place her son hangs our. And then there is college and keggers in caves or at the beach, not to mention house parties, oat parties lake parties.
Moms. Moms intuitively and nstantly know the implications of this on their husbands, sons, brothers, loved ones. Their family. It could happen to anyone of her men. Makes Moms and wives protective. Guilty til proven innocent ain’t sitting too well. Of course they, like us all, want Dr. Ford to be heard. But Dems will way overplay their hand as they always do. They actually believe they speak for all women.

Megan Kelly on Avenatti:

“But Avenatti’s been out there trying to tease people that he’s got some third accuser with the most incendiary claims of all. If you’ve got it, have her come forward. You don’t tease allegations of rape. You don’t tease. You either make them or you don’t. He’s out of line. He’s out of line.
Moments later, PBS In Principle host Amy Holmes noted: “And I think it’s important to note that Senate Democrats have come out and said that Mr. Avenatti’s claims are not helpful. That if he has information, he needs to do it the right way, submit it to the Judiciary Committee to have it properly investigated.”

Here's an idea ...

Confirm Kavanaugh. Should be Easy-peasy if Dr. Ford is a no-show on Thursday as some are forecasting.

Then Dr. Ford can make a criminal complaint in her old home town and it can be handled as it should be... as a state criminal investigation. If Kavanaugh is found guilty fair and square I'll support his impeachment and separation from the SCOTUS.

On the evening of his 26th birthday, O'Rourke crashed into a truck traveling in "the same direction" at high speed in a 75 MPH zone before crossing the median into opposite lanes of traffic and coming to a stop, a witness told a police officer at the time.
O'Rourke had a blood alcohol content of 0.136, well above the legal limit of 0.10 at the time, as well the current limit of 0.08.
“The defendant/driver then attempted to leave the scene,” the police officer, Richard Carrera, said in a police report. The witness "then turned on his overhead lights to warn oncoming traffic and try to get the defendant to stop.”
According to the officer, O'Rourke had "glossy" eyes and was "unable to be understood due to slurred speech.”

In enlisting Mitchell to join their staff, Republican senators are taking an unusual step. They are turning to her to ask what are expected to be personal and potentially painful questions about the woman's youth on live television, sparing the all-male panel of 11 Republican senators on the committee some uncomfortable exchanges that could sway the public's opinion about the session.

"The majority members have followed the bipartisan recommendation to hire as staff counsel for the committee an experienced career sex-crimes prosecutor to question the witnesses at Thursday's hearing," Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a statement. "The goal is to de-politicize the process and get to the truth, instead of grandstanding and giving senators an opportunity to launch their presidential campaigns."

Don’t mess with my rib eyes or my bacon. Boy, those control freaks really know how to win friends and influence people. Thank you. We could not have got Trump elected without your input. Keep up the good work.

“Escobar was first ordered removed from the country in 1988 and was deported to his native El Salvador six times between 1997 and 2011, ICE said in a statement Tuesday night.

Two homeless men sleeping on the beach were bludgeoned in the head early on Sept. 8 and Sept. 10, leaving one in critical condition, officials said.

Another man who apparently was sleeping on the beach was found dead under the Santa Monica Pier on Sept. 20. Steven Ray Cruze Jr., 39, of San Gabriel, had been beaten to death.

Texas authorities also want to talk to Escobar about the disappearances late last month of 60-year-old Dina Escobar and her brother, 65-year-old Rogelio Escobar, Houston police said in a statement.

How about we keep the US out of El Salvador and they keep El Salvador out of the US.

I just gotta day that, after watching the facist Democrats for the last two years covering up wrong doing by the FBI and DOJ, politicizing the Supreme Court, and straight advocation of violence, I cannot wait for my ballot to show up. Hell, I am going to vote for LaMalfa for the first time! Democrats need to go away and let the adults be in charge.

Trump the "laughing stock of the whole world"? Upon closer inspection, the UN General Assembly is filled with the most corrupt people from the most corrupt countries on earth - governmental leaders who regularly steal billions from their own people while begging money from developed countries, continuing to suppress enterprise and freedoms, destroying their lands' environments, and siphoning their stolen funds out-of-country instead of investing in their own people. Given what all America gives to such bastards, I would consider it a badge of honor to be on the other side of 'world opinion' with the likes of those - so should President Trump.

Looks like we are all survivors....survivors of the hateful left. Ted Cruz, a Latino man driven from a DC restaurant, survived as well.

“[p6.]This is a message to Ted Cruz, Bret Kavanaugh, Donald Trump and the rest of the racist, sexist, transphobic, and homophobic right-wing scum: You are not safe. We will find you. We will expose you. We will take from you the peace you have taken from so many others.”
— Smash Racism DC (@SmashRacismDC) September 25, 2018

—-Twitter’s rules prohibit “behavior that crosses the line into abuse, including behavior that harasses, intimidates, or uses fear to silence another user’s voice.”

—Alex Jones was ultimately banned from Twitter for critizing a CNN reporter, considered abusive behavior.

Abusive behavior
Twitter Rules: “You may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so. We consider abusive behavior an attempt to harass, intimidate, or silence someone else’s voice.”

Ok, guess this goes not violate Twitter’s abusive behavior standards, non
political of course, lol.

“You are not safe, We will find you. We will expose you. We will take from you the peace you have taken from so many others.”

GeorgeR: "UN General Assembly is filled with the most corrupt people"

I think it's probably more fair to just view them as another country with it's own self interest. Your average UN representative from the Congo is going to spend 99% of his time in New York or in resort hotels listening to a few speeches. His self interest is tied into the organization itself rather than his home country....so he'll be relatively loyal to the UN.

I don't doubt that you could substitute 'EU' for 'UN' in any discussion of that type.

A conservatives opinion of Ted Cruz:
New York Times conservative columnist Bret Stephens in a dialogue with fellow op-ed writer Gail Collins.

“I like Beto O’Rourke, the Democratic challenger, and I like the idea that Texas can turn a bit purple if you have a candidate with energy, wit and a human touch,” Stephens wrote Tuesday. “The big reason is that I despise Ted Cruz. That is ‘D-e-s-p-i-s-e,’ in case I haven’t spelled out my loathing clearly enough. Would you like to know why?”

“Oh, gosh, please go on,” said Collins.

"Because he’s like a serpent covered in Vaseline. Because he treats the American people like two-bit suckers in 10-gallon hats. Because he sucks up to the guy who insulted his wife — by retweet, no less. Because of his phony piety and even phonier principles. Because I see him as the spiritual love child of the 1980s televangelist Jimmy Swaggart and Jack Nicholson’s character in “The Shining.” Because his ethics are purely situational. Because he makes Donald Trump look like a human being by comparison. Because “New York values.” Because his fellow politicians detest him, and that’s just among Republicans. Because he never got over being the smartest kid in eighth grade. Because he’s conniving enough to try to put one over you, but not perceptive enough to realize that you see right through him. Because he’s the type of man who would sell his family into slavery if that’s what it took to get elected. And that he would use said slavery as a sob story to get himself re-elected.

Otherwise, you might say I’m his No. 1 fan."

Powerful stuff Punch....or should we go with "The Ponytail of Ignorance" (Hat tip Don!) going forward?

I would suggest moving to Texas and voting for O'Rourke.....always good to get in on the ground floor of a movement!

Pretty good U.N. speech. No mincing words, no bob and weave.

“America is governed by Americans. We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism around the world. Responsible nations must defend against threats to sovereignty. And not just from governments but from the other newer forms of coercion and domination.” He continued, “I honor every nation to pursue its own customs, beliefs, and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship. We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return.”

Trump also called out socialism for the disaster that it is, declaring, “Currently, we are witnessing a human tragedy … in Venezuela. More than two million people have fled the anguish inflicted by the socialist Maduro regime and its Cuban sponsors. Not long ago, Venezuela was one of the richest countries on Earth. Today, socialism has bankrupted the oil-rich nation and driven its people into abject poverty.” Pulling no punches, Trump then explained, “Virtually everywhere socialism or communism has been tried, it has produced suffering, corruption, and decay. Socialism’s thirst for power leads to expansion, incursion, and oppression.”

https://patriotpost.us/articles/58497-america-is-governed-by-americans-trump-tells-un

Worth repeating as we see this oppression happening and coming from every aspect of the totalitarian left. A nasty dishonest bunch thirsting for power.

Ahhh.....more of the comedy stylings of Uncle Punchy......very amusing!

Brett Stephens is as "conservative" as you are libertarian Punch.......which is to say not at all!

Why didn't you just go with something from the existing NYT neutered "conservative" David Brooks?
