And its impacts -

With the mega-rich and upper class driving the state’s economy, California is unique in its ability to leave the rest of the population behind. After factoring for costs of living, California is the poorest state in the union. An average of 13.9 percent of Americans were below the poverty line in the Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure — California was at 19 percent, well over Alabama’s 14 percent. The supplemental measure not only factors in housing costs but families' well-being after programs like food stamps and housing assistance. Altogether, the state government has made life for poor and middle class Californians nearly unbearable.

A simple legal solution -

Powell explained, “It’s under 8 United States Code Section 1182 F. It derives from the very clear language of the statute that says he can make a finding that it is in the national interest — it doesn’t even say national security; it just says in the national interest — to halt all immigration for any aliens, and that means any and all.”

Powell noted how the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, recognized the president’s broad discretion granted to him via the aforementioned statute to suspend entry of aliens to the U.S.
“That particular wording in the statute was also recently discussed and affirmed in the Trump vs. Hawaii — quote travel ban — case,” remarked Powell. “This would be a plain application of the text of the statute as already affirmed by the Supreme Court, which recognizes the absolutely broad power that the president has to do this. That would cut out any claims of asylum or anything else; it would just stop all immigration except for people who are already on an approved list, who have gone through the lawful process already, and are pending approval, but it would stop any and all new immigration whatsoever”:

Mansour asked, “Would this involve shutting down the border to do this?”
Powell replied, “Essentially, yes. You wouldn’t necessarily have to seal it off physically, but that means that anybody that came in after the date of that executive order would be here illegally.”

Connecting the dots -

Steven Frisch

There is absolutely no difference between George as a migrant in the face of Stalin's army (although I must ask why they were not migrants in the face of Hitler's armies and didn't begin their trek in 1941 instead of 1944). If George'e parents feared being "class enemies, to be imprisoned or worse" how is that any different than being a mother or a father who fears being enemies of the gangs in Honduras and being murdered or worse? If a country does not have a commitment to protecting the liberty of its people then what difference does it make to the people effected whether they are 'class enemies' or just in the way of the gangs? This is really a classic example of someone who benefited from the empathy of our country having no empathy for another.

 Bill Tozer

For the record: “The caravan will not cross our southern border illegally, under any circumstances.” —Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

We must stop them. It’s a must. Failure would be disastrous. The message sent
if we fail will be the shot heard around the world. 140 million in Mexico, 34 million in this or that Central American area, add South America and you have 600 million people of which 200 million have said they will gladly leave their country to come to America today. That’s what they want to do.

The mobile mob has declared they are coming in, law or no law. They refuse to apply for asylum and start the process at places to do so in Mexico. Takes too long . They want it and they want it now!!! Fuck Trump, we are coming in carrying our country’s flags and nothing can stop us.

The solution is to get Congress to rewrite the OTM laws If we fail to stop the first little caravan of thousands, consider it a scouting party. There will be just one caravan, stretching more miles than the eye can see from a tall vantage point. It’s what Joe Biden visualized in 2014. You could see it from space.
The optics will be awful. It will be worth it.

"The message sent if we fail will be the shot heard around the world. "

Well, that's the thing isn't it?

Since the Blue Mob has gone from being only slightly more pro-illegal than the grouchy old white dude Republicans to wet foot/dry foot true believers (a pretty remarkable about-face, in a mere decade or so), it's a real consideration.

I've always felt that the handwaving about illegal vs. legal or the sneaking in of terrorists is a sideshow to the problem of the quantity of people and the ability to culturally and linguistically integrate.

We've only had this happen once before, and the result was the immigration acts of the 1920's.

The sheer number of people involved and their ability to transport themselves is a nation killer. Admittedly, it's happened in other times and places, so there's nothing new here.

Don Bessee

Again the talking points for lefties blithely ignores the difference between legal and illegal.

from Mr. Frisch: "how is that any different than being a mother or a father who fears being enemies of the gangs in Honduras and being murdered or worse?"

Serious question. What exactly are the limits to your largesse?

Applying that type of test to a potential US immigration...failed nation, gangs, poor, fear of crime...and expand that to Lagos, favelas in South America, South African townships, victims of the Mexican narco-war, the entire nation of Afghanistan...where does it stop?

What is the right number of refugees per year? 1 million? 10 million?

I'd be interested in a strategic view rather than a sympathetic view applied to a single instance.

Don Bessee

I find it interesting that team lefty has strong narratives that are in massive conflict. So on the one hand you have the eco warriors who are often also sjw's who say we have to stop eating so much meat to save the planet. Then when they go to the open boarders and disband immigration and customs enforcement ICE and say bring them all in.

So lets consider that. When economic illegal immigrants come here they get the benefits that are perhaps 10, 20 times their prior income purchasing power and we have very cheep food. SO what happens, they eat better and have better infant mortality than they would have from all the support programs and medical care. So more and more and more people eating more and more meats!

Following their logic open boarders crazy's are killing the planet, just faster than it would have without open boarders!

Todd Juvinall

I say let them all in and legalize all the ones already here. But they have to register and vote as a Republican. There, everyone wins.+

re: DonB@6:14PM

You can certainly imagine the extra greenhouses gases that the new citizens will create. Drivin' them cars and usin' that electricity.

My guess is that the Blue Mob holds the conflicting ideas in their collective heads at once by simply creating a hierarchy. Open borders from the Third World to the First is far more important than the environment. You can import unlimited people and then do the best you can with your new, vibrantly diverse, population.

You know, it's probably a first in world history, so the whole thing fascinates me. Western Europe, USA/Canada, Australia/New Zealand all have significant founding populations that militantly seek to have life-changing numbers of folks from foreign cultures move to their countries. They are darned emotional about it and will fight dirty if need be.

It seems to have all happened at once and almost feels like a messianic religion.

I'd sincerely love to hear why this is so.

I can't expect much from the Blue Mob besides "NAZI ORANGE MAN BAD", but anyone that takes a serious pass about what drives the need for mass, culturally foreign immigration has my ear.

Don Bessee

As if we didn't know -

In an interview with USA Today, Pueblo Sin Fronteras organizer Alex Mensing admitted that the caravan is less about foreign nationals looking for legitimate asylum and more about the movement of entire populations from Central America to the U.S.

“There’s no one in charge of this thing,”Alex Mensing, an organizer for Pueblo Sin Fronteras, an immigration rights group, to

Todd Juvinall

Hey if you want to see Occupy Wall Street trashing up the country, let those folks in. Anyone been to SoCal lately? It looks like those homeless camps we have been seeing all over the west coast cities. What is funny to me is the left, those paragons of "zoning" and "planning" are going to be dealing with millions of people who care less about that stuff. Califonia, the next Tiajuana. WOW!

Tricky McClean

To answer Mr. Frisch’s question, the only difference is skin color. George Rebane is the most public racist in Nevada County.

Oh Michael......you should probably stick to posting drywall videos!

Not Michael “fish” but whatevs. You should stick to Khan Academy HTML classes until further notice.

I think the only person I ever saw refer to "Mr. Frisch" was Pelline's kid.

If so, I see where you got your manners.

To Tricky 10:21PM I respectfully disagree with the name you called my father. Granted, his style of writing & thinking ignites passionate debate, but calling him a name is pretty lame. Regarding you: He probably knows he can do little to persuade a man who's mind can't ever be changed. He must frustrate you because you are short on historical knowledge and deaf to the current published regrets European countries are teaching us about after opening their borders.Seems all you have at your intellectual disposal is name calling. My father is a man who stands by his (well thought through) words and can be held accountable to any inconsistency between blog writing and his published credo. George is a curious, brave & brilliant man who loves this country. He answers to God, his wife, his family and his friends. None of us who walk the earth with George would call him a racist by any standard. You are giving my father a label that simply isn't so. If you knew him, you'd change your mind, if that's even possible. Why do you read this blog? Have you read his credo first? Would you allow such a derisive comment as yours to rest on your own blog? His escape from Soviet invaded Estonia, his young life in a DP camp, his legal immigration to the United States is written about under "My Story". So much has changed since European refugees legally immigrated into the USA from WWII ravaged Europe. Do you ever consider changing your mind when you get new information? Why do you read his blog? Have you read his credo first? Try being the change you want to see; cut out the name calling and take a rest from those comments. My guess is respect for you will rise.

Don Bessee

It continues to evolve -

Mexico has offered temporary work permits to migrants who register for asylum, as a big caravan of Central American migrants makes its way through the country toward the US.

The plan also envisages temporary ID cards, medical care and schooling.
But to qualify, migrants must remain in Mexico's southern Chiapas and Oaxaca states

@642 - All the socialist iPhone hunch backs expect someone else to take care of that crap while someone is supposed to give them free stuff. Dude just give me a replicator and a bag of weed and life will be good, wait, what replicators are not real!?!

Newt Gingrich says the caravan is an attack on America. Pretty obvious to anyone who pays attention. America has financial problems, and our once healthy middle class that kept the workers and economy going...is having a hard time. Why do we want thousands of people who will need welfare flooding into America? They made their countries what they are, and this is the motivation to politically do the same to America. Looks like the Russian's Psychological warfare to me...

Don Bessee

Lets not those pesky facts spoil the party line. Screw those fukin americans say the left like Ariana Grande -

Dr. Jan Orient, executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said on Breitbart News Daily that the thousands of people marching toward the U.S. border with Mexico could bring diseases that could pose a threat to public health.

Orient said that unlike the days when Ellis Island was the place where migrants were tested for diseases and put in quarantine to protect against diseases in the incubation stage, in recent years people have been allowed to enter the country and settle across the country without proper screenings.

Orient said border security is not only important for public safety but for public health.

“I think we really need to control entrance to our county,” Orient said.
“It just doesn’t make any sense in these days of exotic diseases [and] increasing antibiotic resistance to be allowing an invading flood of people,” Orient said.

The caravan

‘’’Here we are not talking about refugees from countries which have been invaded by other nation-states... the migrants consider unsuitable. So today their encouraged solution is to pick up some belongings, and simply set out for a more suitable country.’’’

,,,Big Gee thinks it soooo simple to be a refugee escaping from a corrupt and violent government/country and walk a couple of thousand miles.
,,,ever heard of refugee camps inhabited by ‘’’culturally intact’’’ human beings???

,,,this article is typical of dogwhistle politiking by desperate and highly partisan dividers,,,

Don Bessee

Not the pen!

In June, the Supreme Court agreed that 212(f) in8 U.S. Code § 1182 gives the president broad authority over who is allowed into the United States. The decision in Trump v. Hawaii said:
By its terms, §1182(f) exudes deference to the President in every clause. It entrusts to the President the decisions whether and when to suspend entry, whose entry to suspend, for how long, and on what conditions. It thus vests the President with “ample power” to impose entry restrictions in addition to those elsewhere enumerated in the INA.

President Donald Trump will announce Tuesday how he will use his extraordinary powers over legal immigration to block the caravan and other asylum-seeking economic migrants, according to the Washington Post.

“A draft of the proposal reviewed by The Washington Post says the president can use his authority under Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to declare certain migrants ineligible for asylum for national security reasons,” the Post reported.

“Mr Steven Frisch, of our local leftwing illuminati and resident history expert, questions why the Rebanes did not flee from Hitler’s Wehrmacht into the arms of Stalin’s Red Army in 1941, and instead waited until 1944 to escape to Germany from the advancing Red Army.

It’s who they are.

I like the Rocks of Peace.

Here's what a serious wall looks like.

Bill Tozer

Updates from the migration mob. Don’t think they intend to peacefully stand in line and apply for asylum or a US visa in Mexico or at a legal point of entry.

-Mexican immigration officials in the video urge the men to bring families to the front of the line and present their requests for transit in an orderly manner.....[wishful thinking]

—-A local official in southern Mexico says a disturbance broke out at the encampment of Central American migrants trying to make their way through southern Mexico toward the U.S.
“Municipal security chief Raul Medina Melendez in the town of Tapanatepec says that some in the crowd grew upset when a man with a megaphone urged them to line up and wait their turn for sandwiches and water the town was distributing late Saturday.

He says some began to attack him and he fled down a street. A false rumor spread that the man had grabbed a child for protection from the attackers.

The assailants caught and beat him, but police intervened and he was treated at a hospital.”

Heaven forbid that these folks are told to stand in line and take their turn to receive free sandwiches and water! Me thinks they have no intention to abide by anything but their own rules. So, this mob is expected to suddenly behave lawfully when they illegally enter the US? They are already off to a bad start following good orderly directions.

Heard a new idea floating around this morning that was unfortunately drowned out by the 14th Amendment ballon. That idea is simple. If a immigrant coming to the US violates the immigration policy/ immigration laws of any country in route, they will be automatically be disqualified from US entry.

Bill Tozer

The menacing mob: the 2nd caravan. What a mess. Welcome mat is being withdrawn and for good reason.

“The generosity shown by small towns and residents when the migrants first began trekking through southern Mexico has also lessened. At the last stop, few people came out to offer food, clothes and other items, said Hasiel Isamar Hernandez, a 28-year-old Honduran mother of three who has been with the caravan since it started in her hometown of San Pedro Sula”

Bill Tozer

“Is the United States a saintly or sinful place? Weirdly, and by the very same people seeking its succor, it is often deemed a cruel and awful place—and especially a cruel and awful place because it does not open its borders to the world to enjoy its cruelty and awfulness.

Interviews with some of the migrants reveal this ongoing irony. Most claim that they have no intention of diverting their odyssey to any other country. Only America will do.

Yet often Central American governments, the Mexican elite, would-be illegal aliens, and their sympathizers in the American progressive and identity politics movements obsess on the supposed xenophobia, the racism, the nativism, and inhospitality of the United States.

So what exactly is America—demonic or deified? Why would anyone wish to enter such an illiberal country, so different from the customs and traditions of Central America? Would not Mexico be a much better place of refuge for the caravan people, given multiple affinities of ethnicity, language, history, and culture?

Bill Tozer

Mexico’s U.S. Ambassador — Geronimo Gutierrez — is blasting Democrats for saying everyone in the migrant caravan are all peaceful refugees seeking asylum.

I like reading those antidotal interviews with refugees in Syria, former ISIS young sex slaves who want to go back home to Europe, Africa, and parts near and far.
Once I read a harrowing tale of a couple crossing the Med to reach Europe from war torn Middle East. The wife survived. At sea, it was discovered that the husband was a Arab Christian and he was thrown overboard on the raft and drowned. The wife, also a Arab Christian, was gang raped for seven straight days. A couple of others in the “refugee” raft were discovered to be Christians and their bloodied bodies were thrown into the sea in route.
Upon reaching the European shore, they were greeted by the authorities. I said outloud, “My God, they just welcomed a boat of murderers and rapists into their country!!”

The story of Honduran “asylum seekers” traveling through Guatemala alarmed me. Suddenly, some children disappeared in a village. The parents of the seven missing children were frantic. Oh, I can only imagine the horrors the parents feltl looking for their missing young ones. Come to find out, the asylum seekers” snatched the children in route to Mexico. Thankfully the Mexican authorities were alerted and they rescued the children from the mobile mass mob. Dodged a bullet. Imagine letting child snatchers into our country?? The horrors to even think about that.

It is not unreasonable to ask, “Who are these people?” How can we vet them before they reach US soil? It was not unreasonable to be concerned about commutable diseases among some of the menacing horde.

It is quite unreasonable to do what the Leftinistas do...which is to put the rights, safety, and welfare of foreigners above US citizens and legal residents/immigrants.

The Lefties went nuts over a journalist killed by the Saudis. Dismembered just like MS-13 does here with impunity. Yet, I would bet a good sum that more US citizens and legal immigrants have been killed, maimed, and terrorized by illegal aliens in the US than all US citizens and armed forces have been killed by the Saudi government.

'''Here we are not talking about refugees from countries which have been invaded by other nation-states. Today we focus on migrants from lands that remain sovereign with their culture and borders intact. Lands that, for a number of reasons, the migrants consider unsuitable. Perhaps Big Gee could use a history lesson. Where did the Pilgrims come from and why did they come here???
Where did the Irish, Italians, French, Germans, et al. come from and why did they come here???

'''Big Gee says, '''Today we focus on migrants from lands that remain sovereign with their culture and borders intact.''' --- Gee, I wonder what the Native Americans would say about all the Euro Trash that washed up on Plymouth Rock and elsewhere over the last few centuries???

This '''Migration Mess''' post is just the latest in Dogwhistles by Punkin'head-in-Chief and ginned up by the Vast Right Wing Echochamber machine as an election issue.
,,,Now Punkin'head is doubling down with his Birther Birthright comment stream.

The Honduran diaspora is as much a refugee movement as it is a search for a better life.

,,,And Big Gee has the timeline wrong. The caravan hit the Mexican border almost 2 weeks ago. They have only made it about 150 miles north since then...Sorry Charlie, no election day shootout with the Leprosy and Smallpox ridden MS-13 gang members
