["Policy makers should view the problem from the starting point of today, and resolve to take action on every front. America must restore the norm of gainful employment for all who are mentally and physically able and are not working in the home. The private and public sectors must share responsibility for equipping every American, college-bound or not, with marketable 21st-century skills. Congress and state legislatures should restructure public benefit programs to encourage work and ensure that workers earn a living wage. Finally, the nation must enact public policies that sustain the labor market through downturns, making it possible for every able worker to find a job." From the dreams of disconnected policy pundits. (more here) ]
Rasmussen poll is continuing to make a joke of themselves by being off by 11 compared to polling averages of Trump job approval. They were off by 8 in the final congressional poll so it is apparent they can no longer be considered a legitimate polling service being no more than a vanity poll for Republican causes.

Oh Todd you of all people should refrain from expressing an opinion on polls being a disciple of the unskewed polls that picked Romney by 6. I supported the RCP average polls that showed Hillary by 3 in the total votes. She won by 2, within the margin of error.

Do you remember when I was told in no uncertain terms, “While I appreciate your euntusiasm, Bill, Trump has a ZERO chance of winning.” About 2-3 weeks out from Nov. 06, 2016, a day burned into the annuals of Infamy. The Reckoning. Judgement Day.
Yep, no way feasible. Path through the electoral college is blocked. Twenty minutes into the night when the polls close on the East Coast they will call Florida for Hillary and it’s all over except the big lower lips and a Republican Party that is destined to the trash heap of history. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Sad day for you bitter clingers.
Or was that “While I appreciate your passion, Bill, Trump has NO CHANCE of winning.”
Not even a teenie wienie itsy bitsy chance. Thank you for the condolences. Much appreciated.
So, tell us again how nada chance was within the margin of error. 3%? Yep, you called it right. Don’t think Todd’s prediction of a hopeful wishful gut feelings holds a candle to your confident and solid prediction...nay, make that a Declaration Proclomation that Trump and his bitter clingers would be vanshied once and for all. The s ience is settled, right?
Knock yourself out and attack the polls Gregory cites or prefers. Attack! Attack select pollsters til the cows come home. You will never ever live 2016 down. Zero chance? Hillary has six ways to Sunday to win. Make that eight ways to Sunday and Trump doesn’t even have a popcorn fart’s chance.

The joys of socialism -
The opulent lifestyle of the Andrade family was as spectacular as the economic collapse of the country it left behind.
Venezuelan immigrants, the family lived in a mansion in Florida surrounded by show horses, as neighbors peeked over the property line in awe. The family patriarch, Alejandro Andrade, had been a bodyguard of the late-president Hugo Chávez before rising to powerful positions in his government.
This month, Andrade will be known for something else: On Nov. 27, he is expected to be sentenced for taking bribes as Venezuela’s treasurer, in a money-laundering scheme that made him a billionaire.

Here's a question for a poll derangement syndrome sufferer... did 538 predict a 7% margin overall for House Democrats... or a 1 in 8 chance of the House remaining in GOP hands?
If he can give that some thought through to a conclusion, that might go some distance to putting his head on straight. But in general, Punch doesn't allow himself to think too hard or too long on difficult problems. Just throwing a punch is his style.

Yes, 538 was saying that it was possible, based on their views of the polling, that the GOP would remain in control of the House. Something of a long shot... about what they had forecast for Trump winning in '16.
Your numbers reflected the House vote. Not the Congressional vote. Let that rattle around in your head for awhile... and any poll number is a guess, outside of the real Poll before, on and, unfortunately, after the polls close.

And yet another item in the “we ain’t no grifters” category: The New York State Supreme Court has rejected a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against the Donald J. Trump Foundation and its directors Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. , Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump. The suit alleges that the foundation (which for tax purposes characterizes itself as a charitable organization) was “little more than an empty shell” and was used like a personal bank account, violating tax laws.
Trump’s lawyers tried to argue that a “sitting president may not be sued” but could not cite a single case in which a suit against a president based on “unofficial acts” (actions not taken in his capacity as president) was dropped. In other words, if a crime was committed by a president that was unrelated to his/her duties as president, they cannot claim any executive privileges. The lawsuit alledges numerous violations including using the charity’s funds to finance Trump’s political campaign (an illegal campaign donation) and benefit Trump’s for-profit businesses. Isn't that theft and fraud?
Trump blamed the suit on “sleazy New York Democrats.” Trump was a Democrat from New York before changing parties and running for President. Coincidence or Freudian slip?

More on the theme on anti-Semitism in the Women’s Movement.
The old “While we may share a tiny tweenie weenie bit of the blame, the other guys are the real problem!. Look at them, not us!” So predictable.
“In response, the Women’s March released a statement condemning Farrakhan’s comments, but defended Mallory and Sarsour, stating that they have “risked their safety to build a bold direct action strategy that addresses the real threat against our communities and country — the threat of white nationalism, which is fueled by anti-Black racism and anti-Semitism.”
“We recognize the danger of hate rhetoric by public figures,” the statement read. “We want to say emphatically that we do not support or endorse statements made by Minister Louis Farrakhan about women, Jewish and LGBTQ communities.”
“We all know the real cause of violence and oppression of our communities,” the statement continued. “This is well-documented and inspired by vile rhetoric coming from the Trump administration and from members of the Republican Party.”

The truth unquestionably is, that the only path to a subversion of the republican system of the Country is, by flattering the prejudices of the people, and exciting their jealousies and apprehensions, to throw affairs into confusion, and bring on civil commotion…
When a man unprincipled in private life desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable talents, having the advantage of military habits—despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty—when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity—to join in the cry of danger to liberty—to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion—to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may “ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.” Alexander Hamilton 1792

As stories of Black Friday shoppers preparing to rev up their engines spread across the country, Midler jumped to her Twitter account to give us all the benefit of her wisdom.
“And how was YOUR Black Friday? No injuries, I hope!” Bette Midler said on Saturday. “It’s incredible that we have to fight over STUFF. If there were a DECENT minimum wage, or if workers were treated fairly, and got a tiny portion of the kinds of salaries and bonuses CEOS pay themselves, we wouldn’t.”
But more wondered why Midler, who is worth an estimated $230 million, doesn’t give her money to low wage workers on her movie sets if she is so worried about people’s income.

The truth of the matter -
Schumer piled on, criticizing President Trump in a Friday tweet: “I don’t agree very often with Chief Justice Roberts, especially his partisan decisions which seem highly political …. But I am thankful today that he – almost alone among Republicans – stood up to President Trump and for an independent judiciary.”
Not surprisingly, the U.S. Supreme Court has consistently overturned hard-left decisions coming out of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The nation’s highest court accepts cases for review when four members believe circumstances warrant. Typically, a case must be of significance, involve conflicting rulings by appellate courts, or deal with a major contested question. While only a fraction of appeals to the Supreme Court receive review, the American Bar Association reports that 80 percent of the 9th Circuit rulings reviewed by the Supreme Court are overturned.
Only one circuit has a higher percentage of overturned cases – the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. They are overruled 83 percent of the time. Notably, that court has 17 Democratic appointees and nine Republican appointees at the district level, and seven Democratic appointees and three Republican appointees active at the appellate level. Altogether, there are 24 Democratic appointees and only 12 Republican appointees.
Similarly, in the 9th U.S. Circuit, Democratic appointees outnumber Republican appointees 116 to 33 at the district court level. At the appellate level, Democratic appointees number 16, Republicans just seven.
Moreover, of the 132 active Democratic-appointed federal judges within the 9th Circuit, 66 – including Judge Tigar, who was criticized by President Trump – were appointed by President Obama. In other words, 57 percent of Democratic appointees to the 9th Circuit are “Obama judges.” And yes, these are the ones who have made headlines ruling against this President Trump.
In effect, what these numbers suggest is exactly what President Trump asserts – that Democratic-appointed judges in the 9th Circuit are out of sync with U.S. Supreme Court precedent, consistently leaning too far left, and with a majority Democrat appointees, most of whom are Obama appointees.
Run a counterproof. What is the least-reversed circuit – the one most in sync with the Supreme Court? The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which was reversed only 55 percent of the time. What is that circuit’s composition? Republican appointees outnumber Democrats nine to two.

Gun Free Zones Invite Mass Shootings
Some interest facts for discussion:
Of the 97 countries where we identified mass public shootings, the U.S. ranks 64th per capita in its rate of attacks and 65th in fatalities. Major European countries, such as Norway, Finland, France, Switzerland and Russia, all have at least 25 percent higher per capita murder rates from mass public shootings.
While Americans are rightly concerned by the increased frequency and severity of mass public shootings, the rest of the world is experiencing much larger increases in per capita rates of attack. The frequency of foreign mass public shootings since 1998 has grown 291 percent faster than in the U.S.

It seems to me that the definition of 'hard right' or 'extremist rightwing' is basically 'stuff Democrats thought twenty years ago'. I can't say that the Right has changed much except perhaps for an increased willingness to entertain the idea of single-payer healthcare and gay marriage.
The new Progressive Religion appears to have swept most of the old Left away, at least the more public variants. Vibrant diversity uber alles.
It seems odd, but if you view the modern Right as basically a continuation of existing beliefs, the only really interesting thing is the modern Left. The fact that the Left has simultaneously redefined itself throughout the Western world means that there's no point in looking for US-centric causes. Maybe it's just a webborne mental virus.

re M 809am - To begin, since it's the Left that uses and accuses with the labels 'hard Right', 'alt-Right', etc, it's incumbent on them to define what they mean by those words. Asking the target of your pejorative to define the pejorative is another example of how liberals reason (i.e. the don't).
Second, for those who maintain that the Republicans have become more extremist, it's again up to the accusers to specify how or give examples of such an ideological shift. On the obverse, over the last decade or so, the so-called Right has written extensively how the Democrats have made a major shift toward the Left (i.e. authoritarian collectivism), and RR itself is a detailed weblog of such a political dynamic.
As readers point out above, if anything, the Republican Party has made major shifts toward the Left, which again have been detailed extensively. But make no mistake, the parties have drawn apart, not because the Rs have moved right, but because the Ds have outpaced them toward the left.
So let us hear what you mean by 'hard Right'. And if starting with baby steps is easier, give a try to define what are the quintessential tenets of the plain old vanilla Right.

Best news I read today. In the SacBee, Prince Harry and his gal Meghan are vacating London digs for the Frogmore Cottage. This cottage is where, if I recall correctly, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs lived. Or was it Cinderella? Anyway, good luck with the birth.

Hey Russ, did you read that 1600 page screed by the thirteen government agencies on "climate change"? The Bee had an article about it today and of course, those darn bureaucrats sure try to stir up the fear. Mostly about oceans rising up. I looked for some facts about that and would ask you to point us in the direction of that ocean rising.

Designated Reader Report - I just received an email from our DRR who informed of the latest load of crap from the FUE. I used to think that such reporting and commentary was unbelievable, but my horizons regarding that kind of journalism were expanded some years back as I was exposed to his effluent.
His message continues to still or minimize my public voice, and its delivery is wrapped with innuendos and outright lies in order to titillate his readership, some of whose comments are also worthy of a read. So let's drive some traffic to his fetid echo chamber -

Five Minutes to Total Progressive Control
Want to know how powerful a voice George has in the community? His five-minute commentary once a week on KVMR is enough to stop progressives from supporting KVMR, all without considering the 7,195 minutes of progressive propaganda that comes from KVMR every week. Here are some comments from Jeff Pellines blog following his rant about George's commentary on KVMR.
Karla Arenssays:
November 23, 2018 at 11:17 am
Because of Rebane’s diatribe of hate, I’ve stopped supporting KVMR. The policy of KVMR to support distasteful, hateful and erroneously dangerous opinions in the name of some sort of liberal tolerance, is misguided and I won’t lend my ear or pocketbook to it.
brucelevysays:
November 23, 2018 at 3:33 pm
I agree 100%. I stopped when Rebane started. Terribly misplaced magnanimity and just plain stupidity and willfulness on the part of KVMR.
Just five minutes of conservative views are enough to change progressive behavior. Wow! Just think what would happen if George had 15 minute or a whole hour on KVMR?
Posted by: Russ | 25 November 2018 at 11:07 AM
George, how could you confuse a Publisher with an Editor?
Everyone knows the pecking order... a Publisher, when faced with an incompetent, mean Editor given to yelling and bullying underlings and community members they're dealing with, can fire his or her ass and show them the door.
An editor, when faced with a troglodyte editor from the hinterlands who just can't take a hint, cannot fire the Publisher.

Gregory 1120am - Greg, thanks for pointing it out. In my haste, the titles got a mixed - correction applied. I'm glad it provided some factual basis for the FUE's screed about me.

The left are so unaware of their hypocrisy that I ask how do they even get out of bed in tne morning? The FUE and his three commenters are so unaware of the "free speech/press" of America they have to be morons. The whole idea about our freedoms is it is all about the lowest common denominator (leftwing speech) yet they want to silence themselves! The FUE and his minions are simply ignorant and they supply me with a guffaw many times.

One last point. The FUE claims the county is center-left which to him means KVMR must silence center-right. But the FUE won't allow center-right to debate his center-left screeds. What a hoot!

We have to be careful about dismissing the Left's progress to power. They are ascendant both nationally, and most certainly locally.
As for a take on America's education and the remnants of critical thinking, I invite RR readers to peruse the National Center for Education Statistics (especially the record of their longitudinal study on adult literacy), a rug that our leftwing educators don't want us to look under. This Dept of Education site, no rightwing propaganda outlet by any means, puts the brightest ribbon around the performance numbers from our public schools, ... but you be the judge.

I refuse to lower myself to give the FUE traffic, but I just made an exception. In and out in two minutes, if half that.
Sounds personal. Sick people do sick things. Boy, Punchy and Dr. Rebane’s bromance really is a big sharp burr in his saddle. Punchy done good. :).
I have noticed that when I make thinly veiled fat references lobbed his way, two days later the FUE is ranting about Dr. Rebane. Guilt by association, I reckon. At least Punchy kept that stenciled Stink Asses sign eating awway in his noggin for 10 days before erupting here. Wonder what set the FUE off? Oh, I bet he is still fuming over the untimely passing of Khashgigi, the former Saudi promoter. Thank you for sharing, your opinion is important to us. Fingers crossed.
Rather than resort to images of blabbering oiled blubber and name calling, I shall take the high road today. Heck, Russ even defended the glossy penny saver publisher once by stating in no uncertain terms “starting a mag is a lot of work.” And I recently defended the FUE just before Turkey Day. Someone remarked he ain’t fit to eat with the pigs and I shot back, “Yes he is!”
Hope he had a nice Thanksgiving with family, friends, and loved ones. An olive branch.

Yes, I read the Sac Bee report and cringed over the stupidity on display. There is hope:
The studies clash with policy under President Donald Trump, who has been rolling back Obama-era environmental and climate protections to maximize production of domestic fossil fuels, including crude oil, already the highest in the world, above Saudi Arabia and Russia.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said the new report was “largely based on the most extreme scenario, which contradicts long-established trends by assuming that...there would be limited technology and innovation, and a rapidly expanding population.”
The government’s next update of the National Climate Assessment, she said, “gives us the opportunity to provide for a more transparent and data-driven process that includes fuller information on the range of potential scenarios and outcomes.”
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-climate-change-usa/clashing-with-trump-u-s-government-report-says-climate-change-will-batter-economy-idUSKCN1NS19D
And, then there is this detail in Chapter 6 of the Assessment.
Chapter 6 – Temperature Changes in the United States clearly shows and discusses, under the heading of “6.1.2 Temperature Extremes”, how temperature extremes for the contiguous United States have become more moderate over the last 118 years, with the coldest daily temperatures warming and the warmest daily temperatures cooling. In other words, the temperature-extreme-related climate in the United States has improved.
The report counters the claim that temperatures are getting worse. Ah, the devil is always in the details. Carry on nothing to worry about.

The European Union has called on Russia and Ukraine to "act with utmost restraint to de-escalate" the situation in the Black Sea.
Ukraine says that three of its ships have been seized by the Russian coast guard, including two that were fired upon, and two crew members were wounded. Russia has blamed Ukraine for preparing and orchestrating "provocations."

Well she went wobbly on Brexit so why should we be surprised -
She declined to take in Mrs Bibi, however, after unelected civil servants — on whom she relies heavily for advice on Brexit, foreign policy, and much else — advised her that it could “stoke tensions” among Britain’s over three million strong Muslim population, and prompt radicals overseas to attack British embassies and consulates.
“[Home Secretary] Sajid [Javid] was very sceptical about the official advice, and pushed hard for her to be given asylum here,” claimed a senior government source quoted by the Mail on Sunday.
“It eventually landed on the Prime Minister’s desk, but she just followed the advice of the officials,” they added.
“[L]ots of Christians are disappointed by the British government not allowing her into the UK,” commented Qamar Rafiq, a human rights activist who had lobbied for Britain to take Mrs Bibi in.

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/25/theresa-may-refuses-asylum-pakistani-christian-hunted-lynch-mobs-appease-british-muslims/
Theresa May has reportedly refused to grant a Pakistani Christian woman being hunted by lynch mobs for “blasphemy” asylum, after bureaucrats advised her it would cause upset in Britain’s Muslim community.
Asia Bibi’s ordeal began when Muslim fieldworkers objected to her drinking from the same water supply as them, branding her “unclean” and telling her she should convert to Islam, which she declined to do.
Days later, village imam Qari Muhammad Salaam declared she had committed blasphemy over the mosque loudspeakers. A baying mob dragged her before a makeshift sharia court with a leather noose around her neck, again demanded that she convert, and beat her with sticks and sandals when she again refused.
Keith Ellison needs to be questioned on this. (what doe a an elected Muslim LIB think?)

What traits would be on emperor Xi's wish list for his modern serfs/coolies -
However, data submitted as part of the trial listing shows genetic tests have been carried out on fetuses as late as 24 weeks, or six months. It’s not known if those pregnancies were terminated, carried to term, or are ongoing.
The birth of the first genetically tailored humans would be a stunning medical achievement, for both He and for China. But it will prove controversial, too. Where some see a new form of medicine to eliminate genetic disease, others see a slippery slope to enhancements, designer babies, and a new form of eugenics.
