Paul Emery

Here's one for you Todd Trump says "Heroin alone kills 300 Americans a week, 90% of which comes across our southern border." Can you document and prove that?

"Did you at all follow my links Scenes?"

No. I'm always more interested in original source documents.

I did find something from the state from 15+ years ago that showed between 300k-400k visitors, so I believe 700k as a published current amount. What I don't believe is 2k people per day on *average*, the number just seems far too high. I don't have a dog in that fight, so I didn't look into it further.

"Wild and Scenic Film Festival in a very slow time of year-mid January make a huge impact on the local economy"

Just what exactly is "huge"?

Paul Emery

Full restaurants, hotels, clubs-lots of shoppers. Tourism is one of our main industries and the Festival brings several thousand people to town in mid winter when things are very slow.

The number from the FY 2009/10 report... nine years old... says 355k free day use.

Meaning the 700k number is about twice as large as reality, if one thinks the guesses by Park staff are reality, as larger numbers generally pay better than smaller numbers.

A retired California Park Ranger I know quite well told me if I've had a margarita in a restaurant in old town San Diego, chances are that was reported as a day use in the park.

So... if someone crosses the Yuba on the 49 bridge... is that a day use? Some fraction of a day use? What if you drive within eyeshot of the covered bridge?

Brandon Branson

So Todd says he couldn't find any numbers in the same report that Gregory says he found them. One of you is either lying or one is absolutely incompetent . . . I'll bet Gregory is correct and the retired gubmint supervisor is too stupid to read a simple spreadsheet.

Paul Emery

That's the numbers that are reported by the County, Park Service and SYRCL Gregory. The report you cite is 9 years old so it's undoubtly increased from that. What is the FY Report anyway?

Bill Tozer

Buck weights in on the lying Fakenews Lamestream Media, the enemy of good journalism, the truth, facts, and the people.

"Brandon Branson", you were either too f'ing lazy to open the report you linked or you did and couldn't find the number either.

Unrounded, it's 354,871, page 33. It's not based on any fees since, at the time, there weren't any. Not a single dollar was collected by the Park in FY 09/10.

Todd Juvinall

Paul Emry supplied one link and we have all discussed Haffey. No other link has been supplied. But apparently, Paul Emery does not read others responses so unless you want to stop lying you will get no support. SYRCL made up the number, no one has ever kept track and the lie lives on in people like Paul Emery.

Now he wants to change the subject to Trump and heroin. Not biting.

I looked at the latest 2016 and could not locate any numbers. So that tells me you did not look and just copy/pasted the link without researching it. Therefore, you are a moron. And I actually think based on your comments about me and being a Supervisor you must be MA SF of JP. And you are not a registered voter.

Brandon Branson

Gregory- I didn't bother to open the report. I just took the 20-30 seconds required to find and reference it to illuminate/illustrate Todd's ignorance. From looking at hundreds of government reports I knew the information was in there, but also know it's a waste of time to try to read it on an iPhone.

As a gubmint worker bee on the public dole, it was Todd's duty to know this material, or at least be able to source it. The fact that he didn't even know it existed demonstrates his lack of ability to function at even the most basic level for his constituents, and likely accounts for why he was subsequently let go.

I have come to understand that Todd didn't pass the basic civil service exam around 1979. That's hard to do. It is actually good news because he might have had a career at DMV.

Don Bessee

OHMY illuminati!

China says its economy grew 6.6 percent in 2018. That's the lowest official pace in 28 years

Todd Juvinall

The numbers that Gregory stated were for the whole Sierra District. The Yuba is a part of that and it includes the Empire and Malakoff. So the number is very small. Brandon just lied about it anddid not bother to verify. Must be a democrat/liberal fake news guy like Paul Emery. Page 33 of the report is page 43 of the pdf. Type Yuba into the find box and you will see what I mean as to the district. The Yuba would be on page 32 and it also includes the Plumas-Eureka Park.

Branson is a troll sock puppet and is a total moron to not even open the report. What a hoot!

Brandon Branson

Todd- Am I mistaken in saying you didn't pass the basic civil service exam? These exams test for very root reading and math skills and I know part of it is reading a spreadsheet. Did you fail that part or another part?

Todd Juvinall

Brandon Branson | 20 January 2019 at 10:33 PM

You are a sock puppet. I do my best to not engage morons like you.

Paul Emery

Plenty or other links Todd in my earlier postings. Check them out.

“Plenty or other links Todd in my earlier postings. Check them out.”

Ok, fair enough. It’s been a rough time for credibility of new directors, Here is a list of some earlier posting........

Beyond BuzzFeed: The 10 Worst, Most Embarrassing U.S. Media Failures on the Trump/Russia Story.

The Dishonorable Mention is worth a read, along with the Special Mention at the bottom of the article.

OK,, FOX messed up. At least they admit it.
UNLIKE BuzzedFeed.
But has anyone actually seen her alive and well?

Quotes concerning the Dark Side, aka, the enemy of the people:

“A LOT of journalists need to quickly apologize for their roles in spreading false information in recent days, be it the evidence-free BuzzFeed false report/wild speculation about Trump or leading a misinformed outrage mob against children, or both.” —Mollie Hemingway

“I am calling for a total and complete shutdown of teenagers wearing MAGA hats until we can figure out what is going on. They seem to be poisoning young minds.” —Rep. John Yarmuth

[And they would be correct:] The larger message that a lot of people are going to take from this [BuzzFeed] story is that the news media are a bunch of leftist liars who are dying to get the president and that they’re willing to lie to do it.” —CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin

“I think that concerns of anti-Semitism with the current administration and White House are absolutely valid. And we need to make sure that we are protecting the Jewish community and all who feel vulnerable in this moment.” —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when asked, “What would you say to some of those people who have concerns about anti-Semitism within the Women’s March?”

“To Mike Pence, who thinks it’s acceptable that his wife works at a school that bans LGBTQ: You are wrong. You said you should not discriminate against Christianity. You are the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian. I am a Christian woman, and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome. So you can take all that disgrace, Mr. Pence, and look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.” —Lady Gaga

“If any Republican congressional leader had similarly rebuffed President Obama — disinviting him to speak before Congress in his State of the Union speech — he or she would have been savaged as a disrespectful, partisan monster, not to mention a racist.” —David Limbaugh

Paul Emery repost all your links.

PaulEmery: "...as well as their Wild and Scenic Film Festival in a very slow time of year-mid January make a huge impact on the local economy. Can you list an equivilant organization from the Conservative perspective that makes such an impact?"

I was thinking about that for a minute.

I'm totally cool with the film festival. It brings money to the coffee shops and allows well-meaning people to meet up with their peers. All of the associated "non-profits" get to benefit, and to be fair they probably don't do any harm. The local evil Rethuglicans, who make up basically the other half of the population, leave them alone and grouse just a little about parking.

On the other hand, imagine the fuss if you had a yearly gun show at the foundry. The usual suspects would place palsied hand on keyboard and write editorials and blogs, Moms Against Nazis would saddle up and protest, much fuss would erupt.

It would be another microcosm of local behavior similar to the parades. The Democratic Party float gets some cheers, the Republican one gets boos from boors. There's no wonder it's hard to get town hall meetings with Republican politicians.

As a political movement, liberalism appears to be successful and still growing in California. There's a mass psychology there that appears to tap into one of the strongest urges in humanity, being an asshole.

Gregory: "A retired California Park Ranger I know quite well told me if I've had a margarita in a restaurant in old town San Diego, chances are that was reported as a day use in the park."

Since they, so far as I know, are knife fighting over a fixed budget, I can't see any reason for a Park Ranger to be accurate about estimates. Maybe if they all cheat, the proportions end up being about correct.

You can get a scent of the former Soviet Union in that situation.

This is definitely an opportunity for the Great State of California to spread it's magic nationwide. You could probably model it with epidemiology.

Bill Tozer

“You could probably model it with epidemiology.”.....or zoonosis.

Todd Juvinall

The fame media is now walking back their criticism of the young man wearing the MAGA hat and being serenaded by the Indian guy. Even Megan McCain walked her comments back. After the release of the long version video, it was apparent the kid did nothing wrong and the Indian dude did the "in your face" BS. Even the local fake news pusher, The FUE had jumped the gun. We will see if he has any integrity and walks it back. The young man and his family are getting death threats. Now isn't that something the left says on;y the right does?

Bill Tozer

“If The Post really wants to defeat darkness, they can return to the old standard of fair and balanced reporting. Why not? It’s already being done elsewhere.”

More words on the MAGA kid:

I see that the Blue Mob is tripling down on the whole thing if you cast around on the internet. Of course they've doxed him and his parents, published home addresses, etc.

Public figures weigh in:

Shut down their schools. Fire them from their jobs. March to their houses and pound on their doors.

The evil that lurks in the Blue Mob can always be seen in these aftershocks from the non-stories. They are no joke and everyone who doesn't display a full buy-in to the modern progressive religion really needs to watch their backs.

The American Terror will get worse before it gets better.

Bill Tozer

Bill Barr. Good, bad, or indifferent? My last hope for fair, balanced, by the book, let the chips fall where they may.

I have never seen such a glowing endorsement from another “by the book, let the chips fall where they may” man in the know. We need one that seeks justice and truth, not unverifiable hearsay and process convictions. The top echelon of our Justice Department has, over several years, moved from seeking justice to seeking convictions at any costs. Strkerhat. Make that moved from seeking the truth to seeking convictions at all costs. Ted Stevens, Enron, Arthur Anderson’s 35,000 employees, and others come to mind.

Arthur Andersen LLP v. United States, 544 U.S. 696, was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court unanimously overturned accounting firm Arthur Andersen's conviction of obstruction of justice ... Wikipedia.

Sentence of the day:

"What makes a liberal want to punch a child?"

Perhaps the local Green "Libertarians" might give us some insight.

Bill Tozer

From Scene’s 9:46 am link.

“But with the climate of outrage that’s been created around these Catholic teenagers already, the school may not want to look too closely, lest it find itself forced to fight for the truth rather than submitting to the power of the righteous narrative — a costly battle, and the enforcers of correct opinion know it. They count on it. They don’t need all the facts when they already know the people they want to hate.”

Buck sez:

Robert Cross

So if the 4th of July and Constitution Day are conservative holidays does that make MLK day a liberal holiday? What about Christmas and Easter? Probably conservative because good moral Christians (who seem to ignore trump's infidelities) are more religious than liberals. Of course Memorial Day would be conservative because liberals don't give e a crap about dead soldiers who died fighting for freedom right? That attitude is strictly a conservative domain. Labor Day must be a liberal holiday as it celebrates the contribution of workers rather than owners. And unions are bad because they allow workers to negotiate rather than just take or leave it. Workers rights is definitely a liberal thing. If there was a holiday for rich people it would probably be conservative. We could call it 'spoiled offspring of billionaires day' and nothing would be closed because they don't have to work anyway.
What do you think about Valentines Day, lib or con? Then there is always Groundhog Day, Mothers Day and Fathers Day?

Bill Tozer

A comment found in the Union under Terry McAteer column on defunding of the Department of Eduction. Dovetails nicely with the Catholic School Boys vs. Chief Spreading Bull at the March for Life and M’s slamming of private school boys during the Kavanaugh Hearings.

“Typical selfishness from Terry, poor people should get nothing from education and rich kids can go to expensive diploma mills like Liberty University after being homeschooled with “Christian” values like denigrating immigrants while wearing maga hats.” —-Chow Panda.

Ok, it’s the perfect people to hate: White, male, private school rich kids, Christians, March for Life, Mega Hats....what is there not to hate on?

Bill Tozet

10:32 am, continued.

Bernie goes to Liberty University.

“Sanders met the crowd’s passion in his response, saying loudly, “I understand this as an area where we disagree… But I would hope that other people respect the very painful and difficult choice that many woman feel they have to make and don’t want the government telling them what they have to do.”

In an interview earlier this month, Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., son of famed evangelist and the school’s founder Jerry Falwell Sr., said he admired Sanders’s “courage” to come.

Rebekah Carley, 21, said she was proud of her school for listening politely.”

Who are the haters?

Bill Tozer

“What do you think about Valentines Day, lib or con? Then there is always Groundhog Day, Mothers Day and Fathers Day?”

Well, Father’s Day is under attack because of sooo many kids being raised in fatherless households and it makes kids feel sad. And then there is that Toxic Masculinity thang.

Groundhog Day is definite a Leftist thang.

RobertC 1032am - I think you went off the deep end again. My 1203pm did not assign 'conservative' or 'liberal' to holidays, but merely offered some observations as to which ideology had a greater propensity to celebrate the holidays' putative purposes. And it didn't go anywhere near "unions are bad ..." etc.

However, your response is illustrative of the wider national divide. You were unable to discuss the point that ToddJ raised and on which I expanded. Instead, you started what has become a constant in attempting to discuss issues with progressives - you immediately put straw man words in the other's mouth and then denigrate or debate those instead of what was actually said. I wonder, what would it look like, were you to rewrite your comment and really address my 1203pm?
