The only question remains concerning Howard is will he take more votes from the Left or the Right?
The way Howard unambiguously stated he firmly believes in the American Dream, about getting ahead by hard work, about earning it....well, he lost the Leftinista vote right there. But, then again, he is preaching American Expectionalism to a center Right country. And lest we forget, it was the center-left “moderates” who carried the Dems to retake the House, not the AOCs of the world.
So, who does Howard hurt or help the most. Or, is will be the last man standing at the end of the day?

The lawmakers who rail against immigration law are no longer trying to change it. Democratic voters should be furious that their legislators are making no attempt to legislate on this major issue. Republican voters should be furious that members of Congress are ignoring the rule of law. If this is how the powers that be are going to run things, then we will not be a nation of laws, but a nation of whichever laws the party in power prefers.

We are just beginning to plumb the depths of AOC's ignorance. She will provide months and months of entertainment to the well-read half of Americans. The rest, alas, will continue to be smitten by her as they were of Obama (and Hillary?). But Schultz is a stalking horse the impact of which we have yet to understand, until he starts putting forth specifics on the economy, property, taxes, foreign policy, trade, and, of course, constitutionality. If he plays it right, he will attract legions from both poles.

Schultz is a liberal, not conservative or centrist, Democrat. Except for the zeitgeist of today's Democratic Party, fighting to be to the left of the left of Progressive and destroying the Patriarchy, he'd be running as a liberal Democrat with the credibility of being a long time donor and supporter of the Democratic Party in Seattle.
I think Schultz is to the left of Bill Clinton and would take more votes from the Democratic coalition than the GOP.

Here is my response to a Frisch post on a Chrisman article on income "inequality"
"Steven Frisch So you support all those lazy ass whiners that think they are in need of other people's money and possessions? Sad. Facts can be misleading and yours are just that. If you want to get ahead and make more of something you have to work to get it. But your ilk is all about taking from those that work hard and save and become a success and giving it to lazy ass people. Since you own one car and rent then I guess you must be jealous of those that have more. That is the problem you share with your lazy ass cohorts. How many TV's, microwaves and cars do you want until you are satisfied? And that is the rub. I suggest you go to Somalia or Burma and see what true inequality looks like. Hell in our country even the poorest dolt can get Emergency Room doctors. So take your facts and pout them where the sun doesn't shine and then get down on your knees and thank all those hard working people that make your non-profit possible."

I know a LOT of Republicans chomping at the bit to get rid of the embarrassing stain in the White House. Mitt would make a strong showing and nicely divide the ticket. We haven't had a military man in the house for a long time and Trump sure managed to publicly shame 95% of the generals and intelligence folks in this country. Bush rose from the CIA with a lot of quiet support of his peers. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a star rising with some stars on his shoulders.
Given a choice between Trump and Daddy Starbucks, the Mitt crowd would likely vote Schultz.

Paul Emery, I am surprised you are bringing up things previously discussed and put to bed. Are you OK? I know Alzheimer's is rampant and you might be in need of some diagnosis for it. The 700,000 was a made up figure as previously discussed and passed along without facts to the County brochure. And the people coming to the river are not spending money in the area as they buy their stuff in low cost towns down the hill. Even their gasoline. All we get is their pooping in the river and algae blooms and lots of trash. Your propaganda is too funny.
The Food guy built his house overlooking the Yuba and it is in in the viewshed. I know as I talked to the drywall installer. So you are just wrong as usual.

How come you are so opposed to things that make our County prosperous? That was purely your contention about the number of visitors to the Yuba with no documentation. The 700,000 number is supported by both the State, State parks, and Nevada County. Also why do you speak negatively about the "Food Guy" who has provided thousands of jobs over the years to Nevada and Placer County workers. Are you jealous because you were such a bust in development and couldn't even keep a job in an organization you helped found?

The number was based on a one weekend review of five spots where p[eople parked. They took the small number and extrapolated it into the huge number that was then adopted. But no proof. We actually did the same thing and came up with a number around 40,000 and that was placed in testimony.

I don't care if he is a republican or demo, a billionaire is still a billionaire and sees the world through a billionaire's eyes. Trump is quite an amazing guy. When he was a kid his dad made him work with all the trades to learn about them And he got a taste for the working class and the things they have to go through to survive. And he has carried that all through his life. He campaigned for them. He works hard to get them jobs and decent pay. He does this because he is truly one of them. And of course, he made a lot of money that the lazy asses of our country are jealous of. But to me he knows of the plight of the less fortunate. Many thanks and plaques were given to him over the years by the likes of Jesse Jackson and others he has helped. But that is not enough as he made a lot of money and the dolts of America are just plain jealous of success.

Ah, your class hatred is showing again. Perhaps Shultz coming from the projects and watching as a child his father getting hurt during a time with no unemployment, welfare, or income coming into the household...and overhearing the deep concern of his parents whispering about the dilemma and seeing the worry in their faces....well, that kind of stuff has a habit of staying with ya and leaving an ingrained impression on one for the rest of their lives. Like Depression babies or having your parents grab your hand and flee Nazi Germany in the dead of night not knowing what will happen next.
But, Bobbie, there is no way you could even begin to understand the plight of those working class who overcame and improved their lot in life by putting their palms to the grindstone instead of going about having their palms facing up.
Some of us have will never forget where we come from and can relate more than you have the capacity to comprehend.. Sure, some forget where they came from....
I will put you down in the #NeverShultz category because he started with nothing and earned a pile of money the old fashioned way. No billionaires allowed! Got it.

Towards the end of my University teaching days, I became frustrated by undergraduate students who thought their feelings were proof of their ideas. Seeing human suffering, they thought it was self-evident that greedy corporations and self-interested individuals were responsible for the suffering.
When someone is responsible, the students reasoned, someone could and should fix the suffering. Further, since they thought greedy corporations and self-interested individuals were at fault, the students concluded, the only solution was more government programs and higher taxes.

My guess is he is a retired bureaucrat or "educator" without an entrepreneurial bone in the body. Always whing about the boss. Never satisfied until he gets the Chevy like his neighbor. If instead he/she worked a bit harder those things may have been acquired. But the left would rather spend its time trying to wrestle the hard worker's money and stuff rather than work for it.
There are so many examples of this. Even this Schultz character said he started out in poverty in Brooklyn. And when he succeeded the whiners were jealous and he became the enemy. But he is so dumb he does not even see their trap and he falls right in.

Oh my goodness - where to begin?
3M at 12:14 - "Schultz could capture conservative votes. Grew up in projects, billionaire, articulate."
None of that has anything to do with being a conservative.
He threw his employees under the bus to appear as a SJ warrior and to prevent boycotts of his enterprise. Money before principle - sorry, not a conservative value. He seems to go for the AGW scam, so not a conservative there. So far, he's said nothing definitive that would cast him in the conservative mold. He's more conservative than AOC - wow!
Then from Paul - "...the South Yuba River State Park which brings 700,000 visitors annually to our community."
Really? 700K folks from outside Nevada County 'visit' the park?
Other than clogging up what used to be a nice place to go swimming, what good does that do Nevada County other than intensify an already critical fire hazard area?
TS at 1:32 - "...and no you can't come close to seeing the Yuba from his house or his house from the Yuba."
This one is a high, slow arc just waiting for me to launch it out of the park.
I've been to that house and yes, you can see the Yuba from the house. You might want to check out Google Earth and see that there is a paved road and structures less than 200 ft from the river.
Bobby at 4:24 - "Your anti-AOC rhetoric is straight out of the good ole white boy's play book straight from Faux news."
Bobby is defending AOC? You go, Bobby! She may not have her facts straight, but boy can she be "morally right"! 'Faux news'? What are you talking about? No one has to make up anything she says - she's doing a great job all by her little own self. Complete ditz. The people that used to work with her said she would take more than her fair share of the tip money - she's a perfect fit in Havana or Moscow.

Disappointments, I have known a few. All of us have. As I wax philosophical today with my head in the clouds, yet with both feet firmly planted on the ground where my fellow travelers are, two things come to mind.
1) Contentment is not what having what you want, but wanting what you have.
2) Walking through fear (or envy) is not going from Point A to Point B, but simply leaving Point A.

MMM @5:04 pm
I will put you firmly in the Vote for Shultz camp....not to be confused with Debbie Whatrname Shultz or the “I see nothing, I hear nothing, I did not even get out of bed this morning!” Sgt. Shultz camp.
Did you pick up on the subtle dig Howard jabbed at AOC in the video moi posted @ 10:46 am? When asked by the interviewer if he [Shultz] knew her, Shultz responded “Not personally, she was born in Queens. I’m from Brooolyn.” For those unfamiliar with NYC neighborhoods and such, Queens means well to do, Brooklyn means the wrong side of the tracks, lol.
AOC was raised in Queens in The Heights, but self identifies as a “girl from the Bronx.” AOC must of picked up on the billionaire’s jab because her recent interview shows her stumbling and catching herself when talking about the working poor saying.....stumble... pause a beat.....quick recovery...”I was born poor.” Lol. That s girl is quick on her feet.
They say a child does not know they are poor until someone tells them. I personally was born on the back on a Greyhound bus rolling down Highway 41 but don’t remember. :)
Well my father was a gambler down in Georgia,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin' down highway 41.

Oh Bobbie Sue, relax and take a chill pill. You have said absolutely nothing that Brother Ben has not repeated endlessly these boards ...except you ain’t stuck on those filthy rich kids of Sam Walton and how they have too much money obtained exclusively from the sweaty backs of the working poor. It ain’t right, I tell ya. We must find a way to get all those Trust Fund babies blood money and give it to the government to give to the poor....and hire more bureaucratic clerks. That will fix the injustice.
Except Brother Ben failed to mention that Robin Hood stole from the government, not the rich.
There has not been one thing or solution you have put forth that is not in the French Green Party platform, the Jill Stein dogma, or any underclassman course at our uno versities of higher enlightened ellitist thinking. You got all the answers..sounds great in theory..
Remember that I am a recovering liberal and can recite your whole spiel in my sleep and know what you are going to say next...word for word. No need to copy and paste from your textbooks no more.
And yes, I don’t give a crap about Federal workers temporarily waiting to get paid because securing our border is more important. We all must make sacrifices. Ask not what your country can do for YOU, but ask what you can do for your country.....
Newt said it well back in the 90’s. If the Federal government wanted to study the North American bison, they would have two field employees in Montana and five more sittting in an office in Washington.

Well - First of all , I don't see Trump as a RINO because he really didn't run on his Republican roots because he doesn't really have much of that - in fact, he was a Dem if memory serves. He ran on the Rep. ticket, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me.
My statement was about YOUR statement.
Quote - "Schultz could capture conservative votes. Grew up in projects, billionaire, articulate."
Or do you want to run away from your own words?

TS at 6:53 - "Pretty certain AOC has a future in politics..."
"Why the fixation?"
Uh - seems the left wing media have the fixation.
It's a lot like Puto O'Rourke - he can skate board!!! OMG!!!
And he's filthy rich based on his daddy and his wife. What a guy!
The left wing media dig up whatever they can and expect the public to get as excited as they do.
AOC is a fixture in politics right now based on nothing from the conservatives, buddy. She's the lefts' lil' darling but she is on the bubble. It's always amazing what happens to the 'peoples' advocates once they have a snoot full of DC for a year or two. She might even get a High School level education, who knows?

3M has a poor memory - "Scott0,,,I said he could capture conservative votes,,,what’s your problem???
from 10:14 - What you actually wrote was "Schultz could capture conservative votes. Grew up in projects, billionaire, articulate."
And I pointed out that that those are not necessarily conservative values.
Soros is a billionaire but is no conservative. Being articulate is certainly rare among lefties but it doesn't make one conservative.
Being a conservative has nothing to do with where you grew up.
My problem with folks claiming Schultz is a conservative is that I've seen or heard nothing from the man to verify any sort of conservative values.
Now if 3M would stop presenting partial quotes and own up to his own statements, we might get somewhere. Until then, it's the usual lefty BS show.

Well, looks like Howard Shultz sucked all the air out of the room. Poor Spartaclutz. He announces and nobody noticed. Let’s look at some of the other 70 candidates the Socialistic Democrats are putting forth to take down Orange Man.
The primary objective is to beat Trump, not any particular policy, not universal heath care or free college for all or 4th trimester abortions or guareenteed income for all or non border border security, or demolishing ICE, or opening up all the doors to prisons and jails cause all POC’s are political prisoners, or if we don’t give poor countries trillions of dollars and run out and buy Prisus (or high end expensive Teslas)in the next nine months we all will be fried like a Twinkie at the Iowa State fair and the Earth will be knocked of its axis and we will be hurled into outer space and burned up as Earth flies into the Sun or the Earth goes off into the cosmos all we will freeze to death. No, that is all secondary. Orange Man bad is the number one objective.
Spartacluz is a non starter. He reminds me of Loretta Lynch after the Pulse nightclub shooting. The solution is more hugs and butterfly kisses and love is the answer. We need to come together in love....as we step over the bodies of the massacred and tell folks not to blame anyone but ourselves and talk about job opportunities for all. Hey, Loretta Spartacluz Lynch, the shooter yelling “Mohammad is Great” had a job, lol. No, Spartacluz don’t have the gravitas.
The media’s chosen one is Kamala Harris. This is how it works. The NYT always picks a frontrunner favorite (the one they want to win) then as the silly season kicks into high gear shifts it’s focus to a ‘also ran’ and build them up and shower them with attention SOLEY to hype a real nail biting horserace narrative. Then they shift back to the one they have already chosen to be the next President and dump the challenger, drop their darkhorse Cinderella storyline like a hot rock, and we are back to the one the media (NYT) decided a year ago who should be the President of these here United States. So, let’s touch on Harris from California. Does she have gravitas? Sure. Her slogan is “For the People.” That’s a heck of a lot better than “I’m with Her.” Makes it about the people, not all about her. “For the People” works.
“Kamala Harris is running scared of left-wing and moderate Democrats already. She won’t be the only one.”
https://news.yahoo.com/kamala-harris-running-scared-220733830.html
Lizzy Warren apologized to the Cherokee Nation to get the damage behind her and says she has a BIG announcement next week! Big news, wonder what it could be??? I dunno. She walked right into Trump’s trap thinking she was outsmarting Orange Man and she is one tough bird. Reality revealed she was just another fly trying to go toe to toe with the spider. And I just can’t stop staring at her cheekbones. Think she is damaged goods already....but Spreading Bull Warren does not think so. No self awareness, a common trait among the Leftinistas.
Who else? No Big Gulp Bloomberg? Di Blassio? The mayor of San Antonio? What is his name...Castro or something? How friggin appropriate, lol. Momma was a LaRaza activist. Apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Do we need another POC racist? Hope not. Who else?
Beto? Stolen Valor Bloomenthal? Creepy Hands Joe Biden? Pat Paulsen? Alfred E. Newman? Somebody from The View? Raging Bull Robert Deniro? Scarface Al Pacino?
Who else? Hillary is waiting in the wings. If called, she will answer. It’s her civic duty. John Kerry said he would report for duty. Who else?
Who will be the next one Trump gives a nickname to?

Absolutely, Trump is a stud and needs to be recognized as such.
Today the SacBee has a long article on how our new Governor will solve the "housing crisis". Throw a few billion bucks at it. Nothing on the system that keeps people from building those units. I have to say the politicians of California on the left are the dumbest asses in America. They pass thousands of laws like CEQA and Housing Elements and then wonder why no one is building. Zoning is required but not a guarantee you can build what the laws say. So look for billions in "grants " to local governments that will be doled out to "non-profits" and then returned to government coffers as permits and fees. What a scam.

Todd Swallows @ 653 pm
Why the fixation? I don’t know about you, but AOC is spellbinding. She is so refreshing, so candid, so unpretentious that i find attractive in our era of focus grouped one liners.I always have been partial to straight shooters whether ya agree with them or not. The Ragin Cajon James Carville, Bob Beckell, Alan Simpson come to mind.
AOC is like an open book. She is so much easier on the eyes than watching Aunt Maxine and more interesting than listening to Ilhan Omar for sure. She is also the future of the former Democrat Party. Not to mention her enthusiasm and bubbly personality.
Judge for yourself. A little personality goes a long way.

It's about time the media "lions" become the meal.
Let's see how many stick to their beliefs they are untouchable.
"Lawyers representing Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann have announced the preparation of letters to be sent to various celebrities, media outlets, and individual journalists who immediately and falsely slandered Sandmann and his classmates for “taunting” a Native American during a trip to Washington D.C."

RobertC 1139am - You're spot on Mr Cross, I and many others do believe that "people who ascribe(sic) to so-called liberal political viewpoints" either have not or are not capable of thinking through the ramifications of collectivism as so exquisitely illustrated by the linked AOC video segment. It is the seminal burr under our ideological blanket that was perhaps highlighted by Adam Smith and the working of his "invisible hand" - to my knowledge the first apprehension of the wonders of distributed knowledge and control in a social order. You and yours, who hew to the most unnatural of processes of central control dependent on ever larger bureaucratic organizations, I do consider mentally handicapped - your ideology has killed hundreds of millions of innocents. And by no means am I alone in such a sad assessment. Were this not my or other similar-minded conclusion, then we would have to judge you to be cynical/sinister for wanting to bring such wholesale evil on mankind. PS. I would dearly love to read your credo, or have you critique mine.

Just spent an hour on the phone with a friend who is the Chief for a State Senator. There seems to be a battle going on for the State R Party Chair and he wants me to support his candidate. I said why me? I have been out of politics for 20 years. He said they still wish I was active as I was very effective in those days. They want me back but I just am having too much fun being retired. And all those gals would miss me.

Re SB - I have $100 on Rams+2.5 with a longtime dear friend in the WashDC area (who's also one of my spies there) with whom the SB bet has been a yearly tradition. It is the negotiation of the handicap points which is always the most enjoyable - I started with Rams+6, but he saw right through that. Oh well.

Always felt this current anti-Catholic vetroil from the Left does not jive with the Latinos and their traditions. Now, I have had my share of disagreements with the Catholic Church over the years mostly out of pre judging (aka prejudice and bigotry) but I always felt that the followers were sincere. Besides, Mexican-Americans are more likely to start small businesses that the average bears in addition to their Catholic faith. I wasn’t surprised in the least when Trump carried 30% of the Latino vote in 2016, higher in 2018 among the Latina mothers clinging to their Rosaries and worried about gang violence. But what do I know?

Just saw the Undefeated with the Duke. Roman Gabriel was the Indian in it. I remember those Rams.
Posted by: Todd Juvinall | 03 February 2019 at 12:42 PM
Here is why America is so great. About Roman.
"Roman Gabriel, Jr. was born on August 5, 1940 in Wilmington, North Carolina, the son of a Filippino immigrant who came to the U.S. in 1925, and his Irish-American wife. In 1962, he was the first round draft pick of both the NFL's Rams (and second player picked overall in the draft) and of the Oakland Raiders in the rival American Football League (first pick overall among all players). The Rams signed him for three years at $15,000, non-guaranteed; he eventually played 11 seasons for the Rams, from 1962 to '72. At 6'4" tall and 235-lb., Gabriel is considered the first large quarterback in NFL history."
