I'm sure there's a guy in Truckee with his first non Viagra aided erection in years!

Who would have thought that AOC and noted democrat Boogeyman Dick Cheney would be simpatico from an economics perspective?

"Ocasio-Cortez boosts progressive theory that deficits aren’t so scary"

Todd Juvinall

Now FISH, that is just too funny!

H. Sterling Burnett at the Heartland Institute, Climate Change Weekly #313

The much-hyped Green New Deal (GND) is being pushed by a rump group of progressive-socialists in the Democratic Party, including prominent members of the Senate with stated presidential aspirations. If enacted, GND would constitute a complete socialist makeover/takeover of the economic system of the United States.

With costs in its first 10 years estimated at nearly $50 trillion dollars, GND would be by far the most costly social and economic experiment in U.S. history. For comparison, the United States has accumulated $21 trillion in debt over its 241-year history.

In conclusion, it is a tactic to get citizens to accept compromises.

For all of these reasons, even if GND were logistically possible, it would be a hard sell politically. Homeowners, drivers, businesses, workers, national security hawks, and those few politicians still truly concerned about government deficits would likely work together to defeat it. Politically and practically, GND is effectively DOA.

Most politicians probably aren’t abjectly stupid, and thus they must know GND is impossible. Therefore, one must assume those pushing it have an ulterior motive for doing so. To wit, they are proposing the radical GND to make costly carbon dioxide taxes, increased subsidies for green energy technologies, stricter fuel mandates for cars and trucks, stricter energy requirements for appliances, and more stringent emission restrictions on power plants look moderate by comparison. Any gains they make on these fronts show they are willing to compromise to get things done, they’ll say. They’ll take credit for imposing purportedly environmentally beneficial policies, blame businesses for the price increases and increased unemployment the policies cause, all the while shedding crocodile tears over the fact recalcitrant, environmental blackguards in Congress kept them from enacting the true reform needed, the Holy Grail: the Green New Deal.

George Rebane

What I find most useful about the GND resolution is that it undeniably and indelibly marks the Democrats as devoted socialists who want to take the US into a state of peerage with other struggling socialist countries, and therefore make us all more compliant to accept the road to globalism. These pages corroborate the years-long denials by leftists all over the country who have continued to deny that they want to take down the US from our first world hegemony. The Democrats' recent gallop leftward now supply us daily with evidence outlining their real goals for all of us.

"In conclusion, it is a tactic to get citizens to accept compromises.

"In conclusion, it's the nonsense that you get when a woman who is probably much better suited to being a second or third tier runway model attempts to solve problems that adults should be mulling over"?

Todd Juvinall

Oh my could you imagine a date with her? She would be telling you what and how to eat and for how long. My goodness.

Bill Tozer

Nothing wrong with puttingout a proposal. Let’s. take a peek.
Hey, your forefathers did not get about on a jumbo jet airliner. That was before they were munching on each other up at the summit. Don’t think this will set well with the jet set crccwd flying to the Super Bowl or BM.

Hmm. Oregon did that and still hasn’t figured out now how to pay for all those charging stations. Mileage tax here we come. Hurry up, 5G.

“”Among them, “overhauling transportation systems,” building “charging stations everywhere” for electric cars, guaranteeing jobs for all, and making air travel “unnecessary” through an increase in high-speed rail systems.””

Todd Juvinall

BillT, the coal and hydro plants must shut sown so charging cars is not possible. These loons of the left never figure out the downstream. That is why socialism fails. They feel good today but then a loaf of bread is now fifty bucks and they freak out. Damn!

Bill. At best those elec. cars can go about 200 miles. (on ass flat ground) before needing 8 hours to recharge.(sucking out power @ 7KV )
Just wait for the "big rig" power sucker. Ready for a three day trip from Auburn to Truckee?

How bout those elect. fright trains? All of Frisco would need to go dark just for needed goods to be shipped by rail.

The ECO bastards really don't think one bit about what they dream up.

The Tesla S can go 500 miles. So in ONE day, that "ECO friendly"(my ass) elec. car uses up the same power as ONE good sized in window air conditioner uses in two weeks.

So Tell us what's "LIB smart" about that.

No wonder our TROLLS like it.
The Green New Deal promises not just to guarantee jobs to all Americans willing and able to work–but also to guarantee “economic security” for those “unwilling to work.”

Scott O

There will be plenty of Dems ready to sign on with this nonsense knowing full well it will go nowhere. There's certainly no downside in aligning with the loonys and the upside is your 'progressive' cred will be enhanced. Remember that Hank Johnson (Guam might capsize!) was just re-elected with almost 80% of the votes. So being a complete imbecile seems to not impede a Dems rise to power.
The only good news is that possibly there are enough folks left in the US that will take a good look at this pile of manure and realize the direction the Dems are trying to take us.

George Rebane

ScottO 200pm - "The only good news is that possibly there are enough folks left in the US that will take a good look at this pile of manure and realize the direction the Dems are trying to take us." Possibly from your mouth to God's ear.

EV is coming to the cities while some are still waiting for Broadband in them thar hillls. It is ahead of the curb. Will work great in Portlania and Palo Alto. Apartment buiilding (so what if you lose a few parking spots) and offfice buildings and such. They are just working out the kinks on the byways and highways. A good scout is always prepared.

Volkswagen to the rescue!

As part of this effort, one of the proposals offered by Oregon DEQ would upgrade the state’s “West Coast Electric Highway” (WCEH), a network of 44 fast-charging stations along Interstate 5, Highway 99 and other highways. One issue with the charging stations along the Electric Highway is their incompatibility with many U.S.- and European-built cars. Generally, the plugs along the routes are compatible with Japanese- and Korean-built cars. The proposal would upgrade the chargers at all of the locations, and add an additional fast charger at 12 locations. The estimated cost for this project has been set at $6.2 million, with Volkswagen mitigation funds covering 80 percent of the project.

Todd Swallows

It's called anchoring - google "anchoring heuristics". AOC may be a stooge, but she is a useful one for the Dems. She is anchoring obviously outlandish requests (though she probably doesn't have a clue). The more air play she gets (RR is performing a valuable service for us dems. Thanks George) and the more vocal the reception (good or bad really doesn't matter in the psychology of marketing) the stronger the anchor. When lib X steps up next year and announces free healthcare for all (but no free lunch for those who don't feel like working) he looks perfectly reasonable compared to the anchor. And the dems win!!

,,,here we go again,,,AOC and Markley come up with one bill,,,however lame,,,and the Roundtable goes apoplectic

,,,let’s just see how far it gets and how much gets adjusted back into reality territory...

With brilliant ideas like this Trump for four more! LIBS woun't even be shown the door in 2020, they will thrown through it.
The Left has gone PLAD!! Beyond batshit nuts.
Hell! Look at the two here! Some toad who calls himself Todd that admittedly "chokes" on it.( and on a regular basis... Taking those dodge the issue lessons from Emery?)
Well,, then we have Dougy.... Nuff said.

Robert Cross

OMG. OMG. OMG. the sky is falling.. the sky is falling..some people actually want to do something that will help the planet rather than plunder it..quick.. say something.. anything.. just make them look bad.. I got it.. call them socialists or commies and then get your undies in a bundle and maybe those ideas will just go away and your ilk will be free to plunder the planet with no hesitation or regulation.. just like the nineteenth century.. how wonderful for the children.. pollution is such a healthy thing for them.

Oh Bobby... Think your car will run on unicorn shit?
Better yet go live in a tent! End the use of electricity!
Indoor plumbing is so yesterday.

You fools never think anything trough.

Food delivery? Things you need every day? Toilet paper?

Tell us smartass, without diesel big rigs, how are you going to get things?
And just where is ALL that electricity going to come from to power the green scam?

Todd Juvinall

Robert Cross | 07 February 2019 at 04:02 PM
Help th planet? And what does that look like? My goodness, you are as unhinged as AOC and Markey. What do you think would happen in Boston and its surrounding towns if in mid winter there was no nat gas or heating oil? Do you think all those millions would agree you are helping the planet as they freeze to death? Or maybe they will cut don every tree to burn for hest? You libnuts don't think things through and that is your demise. Hell even the French are rioting over just a tax increase on fuel and you want to remove it all. I am so glad you loons have put this out so we can flog your stupid sorry asses with it for two years.

Todd Juvinall

Hey now I understand why the democrats want to kill all those babies. They won't grow up and have a carbon footprint. So no people, no problems.

Bobby 402pm

Plundering, Bobby?

The GND will put climate change front and center. This is a good thing.

How wonderful will it be for the children huddling for warmth when the warming stops and fuel is too expensive to burn?

George Rebane

re ToddS 256pm - Does that mean that the Left really is evil? They intend to pull off 'anchoring' on their constituents most of whom are easily bamboozled - to fool them with the threat of a draconian double-dummy program which even they would tend to resist, and then show them relief by pulling back their policies to just the butt stupid level so they will vote for the less draconian one thinking it's one or the other. And they take such pride in being able to pull that off, just like Lenin's Lads did in 1917.

BobbyC: "some people actually want to do something that will help the planet rather than plunder it."

How does moving millions of people from the Third World to the First help the ecosystem?

All you get is more pollution.

Todd Juvinall

Years ago in a series of debates, I told the Sierra Clubbers and their pals that it was my observation that illegal immigrants don't really care about zoning and general plans here in California. AT that time the Sierra club had an immigration position I supported. They did not want unfettered immigration. When the libnuts got done with them they pulled that position and said they were neutral. Well we see that illegals truly do not care and they roost wherever they can, trash and crap wherever they want and they are now teamed witht he homeless. California will look like Tiajuana pretty soon.

Todd Swallows

I think that's pretty much what I said. Both sides do it as does Amazon, Safeway, WalMart, and Cabelas. Trump was the Republican's screaming Meemie. Everyone was less crazy than Trump so they sounded reasonable by comparison. Unfortunately enough angry old men bought it hook line and sinker and voted for the guy who promised to bring peace to the middle east in 30 days. According to Trump, all the generals were stupid and he had a secret plan.

Scott O

Crossed Up Bobbie at 4:02 - "...say something.. anything.. just make them look bad.. I got it.. call them socialists or commies..."
Hilarious - are you even trying to be serious?
No one has to 'make' them look bad - the proposals are stupidity wrapped up in lunacy. It's not socialism or communism? Really? Did you read the whole deal? Of course it's socialism/communism straight down the line.
What he heck does Bobby call it?
Let's hear Bobby and 3M defend the deal. Ha! Crickets.
All they can do is show up and throw rocks.
Sob! At least they're trying to DO something!!!
As the moron throws gasoline on the children burning to death - the lefties all chime in - "at least he's trying to DO something!!!"
Hey lefties - you want to defend this hot mess? I dare you.
No calling us names - just come right out and explain how this will work. Please.

Todd Juvinall

Oh one more little thing I just thought of. Hey BoobieC and the rest of you boneheaded liberals. When AOC and Markey get all those engines unfueled, how will we defend America when the opponent's tanks roll in? Just a thought.

Better stick to gay porn Swallower. Your shitty at making up stories.
Trump never "promised" peace. Just a plan FOR it. And not "30 days".
Try four months.

Scott O

from TS - "Both sides do it as does Amazon, Safeway, WalMart, and Cabelas."
Walmart? Cabelas?
I think some one doesn't understand what the subject here is.

Don Bessee

So who would send our starving aid when the socialist green revolution hits?

Todd Swallows

"One of Trump’s oft-repeated campaign promises was a “guaranteed” plan to wipe out Islamic State within 30 days of taking office. Understandably, he refused to tell anyone exactly what that plan was. “Everyone will take the idea, run with it, and the people will forget where it came from,” he explained." https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2017/mar/05/trump-promised-to-wipe-out-isis-perhaps-he-already-has-

Pretty certain I have a firm grip on the subject of marketing. That is what the subject is here even if you can't see it.

WOW Is she drunk on her own ego or what? Keep talking girly, it's you who is making Trump's reelection a certainty.

Todd Juvinall

Did anyone watch the Ocasio babe's presser? All those men behind her were looking at her behind. What a hoot. And I want to know how we defend ourselves after we unilaterally disarm? Chinese jets meet no resistance as our F-35 fighters are unable to find fuel.

Scott O

TS at 6:02 - Marketing? This isn't haggling over the price of tea.
This is "let's all jump out of the plane with no parachute".
It's a package deal, dude. It's Russian Roulette with 6 bullets in the barrel.
Walmart has to deal with reality - these folks are floating in space.
Just what part of this 'marketing' are we supposed to buy?
Free health care?
It's been tried and denied.
Cabelas has never told me to turn everything over to them as part of a marketing plan.
Get real - this is insanity.
What part of it are you going to support TS?
I haven't heard anything from you regarding that. It's all - "Hey! Look at Trump!"
The subject is all the Dems lining up behind the Green New Deal. Are you for it or against it?
And why?
Stop BSing and start laying down your markers.

Scott O

Walt at 6:02 - TS says it's just marketing.
No, TS - Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Dems don't look better because of AOC. They look like permissive parents watching their child destroy a Ming vase while telling us "it's just a phase".

T. Swallows: 'It's called anchoring - google "anchoring heuristics". '

I think of it as shifting the Overton Window.

Again, from Breitbart:

"All Latinos have a race-based right to migrate to the United States, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Thursday."

“We have to have … respect for the right of human mobility,” Ocasio-Cortez told a press conference on Capitol Hill.
She continued, “It is a right. We are standing on native land, and Latino people are descendants of native people. We cannot be told and criminalized simply for our identity or our status.”

I'm digging on it. I think I like her. She not only is delivering for what she thinks of as her people, as opposed to US citizens, but she's honest in her beliefs.

Maybe the Green Libertarians can start divvying up the US like you might tables in the prison common area. I'd like to see the map so I can start planning accordingly.

Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Dems don't look better because of AOC. They look like permissive parents watching their child destroy a Ming vase while telling us "it's just a phase".

hmmm.....that's gonna leave a mark!

ScottO: "The subject is all the Dems lining up behind the Green New Deal."

What's there not to love? It's Green, it's New, and it's a Deal. Filled with social justice goodness and savin' the planet words. Brother Bernie loves it. Algore loves it. The Pope probably loves it. Add in some words about 5G and chemtrails and the NC city council will love it.

You could probably shorten the doc by pointing out the parts of the economy that are left alone to trundle on without that sweet sweet .gov control.

There appear to be multiple Green New Deals, but they're all beautiful mann.

Ah yes....daughter of Conquistadores.....lecturing whitey on poor past behavior.

She's saucy.......I like it! She oughta check that Castilian privilege though!

Dictionary result for conquistador

plural noun: conquistadores

a conqueror, especially one of the Spanish conquerors of Mexico and Peru in the 16th century.

mid 19th century: Spanish.

My Kept Man 5:17

"Just a thought". What a retard. Watching reruns of Patton lately?

"How will we defend America when the opponent's tanks roll in?" makes you a knee slapping laughing stock. I suggest catching up on Ben-Hur and then give us some intel on the possible invasion of chariots.

I see gets Emery's vote.

OH sward swallower, you keep missing the facts? Russia is ALWAYS pushing the air space boundary Just last week out fighters intercepted Commie bombers.... Dumbass.

Bill Tozer

The term is flaccid, 8:29 pm. Put a pebble in his shoes and he will walk around until he goes limp. Poor man birth control for our Druid nature lovers.

It ain’t easy being green or a Martian or a little green Martian. Mars attacks!

Scott O

George - can you possibly find some one from the left to defend the New Green Deal? The usual suspects here just shat their pants and puked.
I'll check with DK and Mother Jones and that crowd and see if any of them can muster a whimper or 2 in support of the fed govt taking over private interprise.
BD at 8:14 - the Green New Deal is not just AOC dude. The Dems are signing on.
I notice that not one single leftie or 'green libertarian' will defend this crap.
It's called "jumping the shark".
And the Dems have done it.

Todd Swallows

What does the air space boundary have to do with tanks? Do you really think we are prone to an invasion of tanks?? Pretty sure ICBMs and nuclear subs are the more likely menu of offense. Only the kept boy would have such delusions of tank invasions. Too much black and white TV. I'd pat our man child on the head to comfort his foolish fears then tuck him safely into bed with his favorite toy.

Bill Tozer

Botulism Diddled @ 8:14 pm. Got to pass it to find out what is in it, eh?

Now, go out there and win one for the Gooper.

“On Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) released a six-page proposal for her much-ballyhooed Green New Deal. Before so much as reading it, presumably, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), who happens to be a 2020 presidential frontrunner, endorsed it:

She should have read it.

Whoever wrote the proposal is, to put it kindly, dense. Idiotic. Moronic. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) found herself unable to pretend to take it seriously; she said she hadn’t seen it yet, but “it’s enthusiastic and I appreciate the enthusiasm.” This, not coincidentally, is precisely what I say when I find out that my 2-year-old son has used his magic markers on his bedroom wall. When Nancy Pelosi has to pat you on the head and tell you that your picture of a doggie – which, for the record, looks like a blob with three legs and a spaghetti sauce stain – is just great honey, you’re in trouble.

She added that the Green New Deal “will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive. The green dream or whatever they call it nobody knows what it is but they’re for it, right?”

Or not. According to AOC, nobody will have to pay for this – like a timeshare you bought on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1997, this thing will pay for itself! This is a direct quote: “At the end of the day, this is an investment in our economy that should grow our wealth as a nation, so the question isn’t how we will pay for it, but what will we do with our new shared prosperity.”

The question, guys, isn’t how to pay for the Fyre Festival – it’s what we’ll do with the free drinks, the beautiful cabanas, and the epic memories we’ll create together!

I correct myself: my two-year-old son could come up with a better, more realistic proposal than this one. It’s not actually much of a competition.”

Todd Swallows

You guys are MUCH more enamored with AOC, her cuteness factor, and the big friggin green deal than any intelligent dems I know. I think all of you are leaping into the water after a red herring. But, such is the way of brute emotions over intelligence.

Bill Tozer

Gooper @ 9:43 pm

But AOC is the New Face of your formerly Democrat Party. Wasn’t much of a small ‘d’ democratic private institution party anyway.
You guys have always wanted to do exactly what she proposed, except you were to chicken shit to come out and say it. What, were you afraid you would like squirrels passing pine cones or monkeys trying to hump a football in front of thewhole watching world? Thanks for giving us the New and Fresh Face of the Illiberal Democrat Party. Now, no hiding behind her las nalgas and pretending she was not spawn from your loins..........sucks to be you.

“I cannot offer an in-depth analysis of this proposal. The proposal itself is so vague in parts, delusional in other parts, and unbelievably childish through every part, that serious engagement with its ideas is impossible. It reads like something a four-year-old in Soviet Russia may have dreamt up. All I can do, all I need to do, is tell you exactly what it says. You will soon realize why a thorough rebuttal is not necessary.”

George Rebane

For the reflective reader I point out that out leftwing commenters will talk about anything except the substantive points of the Green New Deal. The word their head shed is out - CHANGE THE SUBJECT! No Democrat knows how to handle this hot potato, and the only hope is that their lapdog lamestream media will be able to dredge up something else to get the nation's mind off what the new socialists cum communists are proposing. The latest is this cascade of collectivist crap is that America should just abrogate its sovereignty and let all Hispanics have free reign in the country because they have Indian blood in them, and Indians were here first, therefore all of them can caravan up here singing 'This land is my land, this land is your land, ...'.

,,,The Roundtable should seek help from the self-harm they feel compelled to inflict upon themselves

,,,every time less than 0.5% of the 435 person House come up with a pipe-dream bill that would raise taxes on some group or come up with a Medicare-like solution for heath care or try to figure out how cut fossil fuel emissions the Roundtable members start flicking their Bics trying to light their hair on fire even though all these issues have been bandied about here forever.

I am already on record as saying the bill looks lame and is probably DOA as written. The Senate won’t pass it and Trump will veto it.

The joke is on the LIBS. The "new green scam" is being mocked as a
plan from MAD magazine.
Like I said yesterday. Nothing like handing us on the Right the ammo that will reelect Trump.

Todd Juvinall

I think it is great for us that those loons published that crap. We can mock them into obscurity!

Scott O

So the lefties that show up here think the GND should be ignored because it has no chance of becoming law.
I can gaurantee it won't become law as proposed just yet, but it shows the Dem's hand as to what they plan for us in the future. Beyond the politics and the total trashing of our Constitution and Bill Of Rights, there is also the sheer stupidity and ignorance of what is called for.
Just because a political leader hasn't got the power to force everyone to slice their own throats open doesn't make me feel any better about that person advocating such action. This just isn't communism, it's bat-shit crazy to boot. I doubt any historic socialist or communist leader would ever propose such nonsense. And the pols signing on and endorsing it (or refusing to admit it's wack) posses real political power in this country. And they're gaining steam. They've got millions of Americans cheering this insanity. That's my concern.

Bill Tozer

Dr. Rebane penned
“The latest is this cascade of collectivist crap is that America should just abrogate its sovereignty and let all Hispanics have free reign in the country because they have Indian blood in them, and Indians were here first, therefore all of them can caravan up here singing 'This land is my land, this land is your land, ...'.”

Perhaps they should be singing “This land is my land, your land is my land...”

During the release of Senator Warren’s (D-Cherokee) DNA test, an interesting tidbit revealed that the term “Native American” is more likely referring not to our Native (US) Americans, but native peoples south of the border who migrated to and populated first the regions known today as Latin America. Then the Conquistadors came along and raped the native women with abandon. Like one huge orgy. Ironically, Puerto Ricans are not considered Native American by OAC hereself, but a Latina because her foremothers done got raped by the Spanards.

Th Apaches migrated north and first appeared in what is the now our nation’s Southwest a mere 475 years ago. The indigious peoples of Nicaragua, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico Peru, etc. are not what I would call Native Americans, but instead refer to them as indigenous peoples of the Americas. Think Aztecs, Mayans, Incas. If they have legal claims and grievances, take it up with the Spain.

Interesting to note the largest country in South America is Brazil, a former Portuguese colony. Heck, so is Mozambique, a Portagueese speaking former colony. But, that is not the real point now, is it?

So, the members of the caravans from Central America and points south whom have had no precious history of being conquered or raped by the folks from counties of Northern Europe now lay claim to being Native American? What? Indigenous peoples who have never inhabited what is now known as the USA lay claim to NYC or Minnesota? Go pound sand, sez Cherokee Nation.

Anyway, back on topic..

,,,My buddy Bocephus has been sent to the Spam Can,,,but I can paraphrase him,,,AOC and Markey represent less than 1/2 percent of the House...

Just because a so called or self proclaimed socialist writes a bill it doesn't automatically represent the majority opinion of '''The Left''' however much the chicken little criers want to make us believe it does

Re: Update. Boy, did she ever blow Beto and his skateboarding grand entrances right off the front pages. Where is our Kenndyese Camelot boy now? I can’t hear ya. I fear overexposure did him in...that dental visit of his kinda got his followers a wee bit turned off. Dentist visits rank right up there with trips to the DMV, according to the polls.
AOC draws all the cameras around and is sucking all the air out of the room right now. Let’s hope she does not suffer Beto’s fare of overexposure. Somehow, I doubt that will happen. She lights up a room and appears to be the gift that keeps on giving.

For the Leftinista pundits that say AOC is a lot like Trump and the GND was just a page straight out of Trump’s Art of the Deal, they may be correct. Without fanfare, the reference to ‘cow farts’ was removed from the GND this morning. :).

Word of caution: Nov. 2020 is still a political lifetime away. Long gone with be the shutdown and memories of the SOTUS will fade in the mist in voters minds by then. I do, however, think that both SOTUS and AOC are pivotal points in defining where we go from here.

Daily Quotes go here today, not Sandbox. There is a first time for everything.

For laughs: “By the end of the Green New Deal resolution (and accompanying fact sheet) I was laughing so hard I nearly cried. If a bunch of GOPers plotted to forge a fake Democratic bill showing how bonkers the party is, they could not have done a better job.” —Kimberley Strassel

Before: “One reason that people who are politically conservative are skeptical of efforts to combat climate change is that it sounds to them like it requires massive government intervention. … It does, it does. … I have no problem saying that.” —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

After: “I think one way that the Right does try to mischaracterize, uh, what we’re doing as though it’s, like, some kind of massive government takeover. Obviously, it’s not that. —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Braying Jenny: "This is one of the most urgent moral issues and crises that we have in America right now. This is not a political issue. Children dying in detention centers should not be a partisan concern. It should be a universal concern for every American in the United States. We’re here to say that an agency like ICE, which repeatedly and systematically violates human rights, does not deserve a dime.” —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, just days after an illegal alien murdered a citizen of her sanctuary-city district

If only she were consistent: “Preserving God’s creation … is, in my view, a moral responsibility.” —Nancy Pelosi on unborn life the planet facing climate change

And last… “The threat of climate change is so urgent that we can’t solve it unless we commit to giving everybody free healthcare, free college, affordable housing, healthy food, well-paying jobs, and provide economic security to those unwilling to work.” —Philip Klein

Bill Tozer

Trump is toast. The front running Dem canidates have enthusiasticly signed on to the Green New Deal. Kamala Harris of CA, Elizabeth Warren of MA, Corey Booker of NJ, and Kristen Gallibrand of the Great State of New York. Now to be outdone, Gillibrand has joined AOC to abolish ICE. Trump does not have a prayer now.

re: [email protected]:00PM

You can see where the Blue Mob's need for a world government comes from, even though they think of it as a vast overstatement.

. Not enough jobs? Labor oversupply. Blue Mobsters are pro-mass immigration and in the Age of Trump have become free traders (outsourcing is a form of labor immigration). Solution? Everyone in the world needs a job for everyone in the US to have one.

. Excess greenhouse gas? Too much CO2/methane/etc. produced and the US is only a smallish fraction of the total. Solution? Everyone in the world has to reduce emissions.

.Guaranteed housing? Free school? Guaranteed healthcare? In an age of open borders, there'll be simply more people pouring in. Solution? Everyone in the world needs to have guaranteed housing, school, healthcare.

.Indigenous people? Well, they're all over the world. We'd better look after their interests everywhere.

.International monopolies are bad? There are a bunch of them in terms of single-sourced (or near single sourced) items. Better go after some company in Thailand or China.

In the more expansionist phase of the Soviet Union (pre WW-II era) much of their foreign policy was based around worldwide revolution at the cost of the people within their own state. I have to admit that there's a little of that messianic fervor here.

Todd Juvinall

Another self-hater in the Union today. Oh my I am white, I am privileged. These people disgust me.

"genius Leftys was singing the praises of TypePad just yesterday."

Oddly enough, I don't think that the company that owns TypePad even has a development center in the Bay Area. Perhaps they had one, but left to form a startup that does same-day delivery of bottled water.

3M - "Just because a so called or self proclaimed socialist writes a bill it doesn't automatically represent the majority opinion of '''The Left''' however much the chicken little criers want to make us believe it does

Sorry 3M - you are way behind the news. There's a lot more Dems than just AOC and Markey signing on. And the higher-ups are not denouncing it.
Check out Vice, Mother Jones and DK just to name 3 popular sites.
The Dems have spilled their hand. We now all see the cards as plain as day. They want to turn the US into the next workers paradise.
No wonder they're trying desperately to get rid of the 2nd A.
The new mantra I'm seeing from the left is that the only reason for the 2nd A was to kill African Americans and Native Americans.

ScottO sez: "Sorry 3M - you are way behind the news. There's a lot more Dems than just AOC and Markey signing on."

Like Kamala Harris? Joseph Kennedy III? Paul Krugman? Elizabeth Warren? Kirsten Gillibrand? Ron Wyden?

Yep, it's just the fringes of the party.

Methinks that 3M will be kind of surprised when he/she is found guilty of heresy by their fellow travelers. It sure wouldn't be hard.

Cool. I was doing my weekly Pelline bingo check and noticed the "A heartfelt proposal to the Merry Widows" concept.

What I like about ideas like that is the implied "or else". It makes life more exciting.

I propose that all the Merry Widows begin opening their eggs at the little end.

What really stuck me was all the items on the unicorn list that have little to do with climate change, clean air, clean water, or clear thinking. Affordable housing is one thing, durable housing is another.

The GND's definition of frontline workers and their point man role in implementing some much of the plan is a Khmer Rouge connection that is unmistakably clear and alarming. Listen to the children

Pelosi Stacks Climate Committee with Dems Backed by Energy Interests

Pelosi knows how to play the game of appearing to support climate change while doing something else. Money talks!! No AOC on the committee.

Despite the speaker's confidence in the energy and expertise of her appointees, it is unclear if their history of taking campaign contributions from large energy conglomerates will prove problematic.

Castor, who has pledged to reject campaign contributions from fossil fuel interests, has taken more than $72,000 from individuals and political action committees associated with the energy and natural resources industry since joining Congress in 2007. The majority of the funds—approximately $59,000, according to the Center for Responsive Politics—came from PACs linked to the industry. As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, Castor previously owned stock in companies with troubling environmental records.

Similarly, Bonamici ($87,963), Brownley ($55,789), Casten ($46,259), Huffman ($118,310), Levin ($42,143), and McEachin ($62,364) all received significant backing from the industry throughout their congressional careers.

By far the largest recipient of industry contributions was Lujan, a member of Pelosi's leadership team who previously served as the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Since entering the House in 2009, Lujan has taken more than $522,000 from individuals and PACs linked to energy interests. Of that total, more than $438,000 came from PACs belonging to companies like BP, which donated $7,500 to Lujan in 2018 alone.

2A: Name one nation, country, or government on Earth that did not start off with promising free healthcare for all that did not immediately confiscate citizens' weapons, be it Cuba, Russia China, Venezula, or Northern Europe. Heck, it is against the law in Sweden to even sleep with a baseball bat under your bed.

Just because 3M and his birds of a feather mocking take comfort in the fact that it has not happened here, there is no precedent where it has not happened after promising free health care for all.

Scott O

Bill - free health care? Heck - free everything! Even for those 'choosing' not to work. Just reading that manifesto makes me wonder how much came from Lenin and how much from Mao.

,,,in case you boys are having trouble connecting the dots,,,Medicare is not free,,,nothing is free,,,if you don’t pay for it through a corporate or government bureacracy you pay for it in taxes...

George Rebane

Bocephus 1103am - And then there's the aspects of cost, quality of care, and service. Save training in the military, name one service that government provides cheaper, better, or even competently, that is also provided by the private sector.

The Green New Deal utilizes a propaganda technique called Appeal to Fear. It advances the notion that the U. S. must initiate a massive and urgent State-run program that would control the climate by reducing the use of carbon-based fuels. It would simultaneously improve the lot of the poor and middle class. In truth, this proposed program would be a complete waste of human and natural resources. The entire concept is based on the false premises that carbon dioxide (CO2) is a pollutant, CO2 emissions are bad, that the increasing rate of CO2 emissions from burning fossil fuels is causing the global temperature to rise which will lead to adverse climate change, and that reducing fossil fuel use is an immediate necessity to protect the natural environment from most human actions. None of the premises are true but an entire political party has been co-opted by the ‘old’ glamour of young, naïve want-to-be Marxists who have seized on this invalid concept, The New Green Deal, to disguise a push for complete State control in all matters. The Party establishment has caved and now Democratic Socialism is a primary plank in the Party’s progressive political platform.

This book is intended to address the future role of carbon-based fuels in a rational manner and without a hidden political or ideological agenda. It is agreed that the supply of fossil fuels is finite and the natural environment is affected by its continued use. Most of the effects are beneficial for both humans and the environment. But some are not. However, there is enough time to plan for a transition to cleaner energy without massive government intervention in the form of the control of production and the private sector. That type of government intervention is by definition-- Socialism. It has never been successful.

This is a serious matter. One that must be considered in a clear-eyed and non-ideological way. This is not a liberal arts matter, it must be considered pragmatically, with constructive thought and action. And the first practical thought is to recognize that we have plenty of time to gather the data and get it right, the American Way, not the Democratic Socialists Green New Deal way.

Todd Juvinall

Funny how the left thinks anything we have created that benefits all is socialism. I just call it "society". But they seem to be stuck on stupid about SSN and Medicare. Helping folks in our society is not socialism. Oh well.

Bill Tozer

Well, it looks to me that Climate Change is just a handy vehicle to reinvent the wheel, destroy the free market capitalism, and make everyone a government employee.
a fate worse than death. The assaisns of the sovereign states (and our Constitution) has a foot in the door.

Oh... So the great plan was "doctored"?
Robert Hockett, a Cornell law professor who is advising Ocasio-Cortez on her Green New Deal, claimed on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that her proposal did not include economic protections for those “unwilling to work” and claimed that the phrase came from a “doctored document.”

Damage control so soon....
"“Oh, I thought that came right from her, that was in the backgrounder from her office, is my understanding,” Carlson replied.

“No, no. She’s actually tweeted it out to laugh at it. If you look at her latest tweets, it seems that apparently, some Republicans have put it out there,” Hockett insisted. "

Then it gets fun when he has to eat crow.

Bill Tozer

Holy Smokes! Evil and dreaded Doug LaMalfa took a page straight out of the GND and is yapping about sustainable farming and nutritious food for our rural children.
I believe that is called a point of intersectionality. I feel giddy, oh so giddy, I feel giddy and pretty and wise...and I pity any girl who is not me tonight...sha la la la la la....

"Buying and using American-grown food products and improving nutrition for children in our schools should be an issue that both sides of the aisle can support. I’m happy to join with my colleague, Mr. Garamendi, to help ensure our children enjoy fresh, local produce instead of potentially less desirable alternatives from overseas. This bill holds school districts accountable for constantly requesting waivers to purchase foreign food products and helps ensure our tax dollars are used to buy healthy, high-quality, American-grown and made products for school lunches. It’s preferable to utilize food items that are produced right here in Northern California or in the USA "

While I am at it, does anybody know what A O Cortez means by 'democratic economics'? Has no meaning to me. Anyway, there is hope for the little filly yet. For Bernie, that old overcooked dry bird.....its too late.

Nothing is free?
Thanks for the update, sir - we conservatives had no idea!
But as soon as housing and education and health care become a 'right', then no one has to pay a dime to obtain them.
Especially those 'unwilling' to work.
Fixed it for you.
You're welcome!

Maybe Frisch Should read "State of Fear" and see that he and the AGW loons truly ar unhinged.

Dr. Rebane @ 5::36 pm

Hope burns eternal. Remember I am the younge brother of a former full blown feminist author and once dabbled briefly with the Yippies, aka, the Youth International Party, a more radical spin off of the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society). More Antifa than democratic. Stupid is as stupid does. The New Left became the hippies and ended up selling tie-dye shirts on QVC late at night or cut their hair and peddled insurance. Some of tthe SDS never left campus as evidenced by the current atttempt by the Far Left to hijack take over the Democrat Party. Kinda like the Chicago ‘68 without the tear gas in the streets. Maybe they will run Biden.

Anyway, we were all young once and thought that society should be like living on a commune in Garberville. The problem with not living by the old rules requires too many new rules. Way too many. Stifling. Reality in practice, idealism only in words. Can’t we just do away with money? Oh, can you pick me up a box of Tampoons?

Authority benefits the governed....as in we the people. Think stop signs. Power benefits only those who rule over and wield power.
From my post you responded to:

“But none of Mencken’s fun prevented him from making this serious point: “The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.” And “rule,” not govern, is the operative verb here.

Chesterton shared Mencken’s concerns about both urges. Yet unlike Mencken, Chesterton conceded that, as a young man, he had been attracted to socialism because of its popularity. To not be a socialist meant that one was a “sneering snob forever complaining about the behavior of the working class.” Or worse yet, it meant that one was a “horrible Darwinian forever thundering that the weak must go to the wall.”

So, yes, there was a time when Chesterton was a socialist, so long as he could believe that “socialism meant protecting the weak.” What Chesterton came to realize as a full-fledged adult was that socialists were mainly interested in power, “haughty, concentrated, over-reaching power.” They sought to rule, not govern.”
Hmmm. Maybe your are correct, Dr. Rebane. I was in my early 20’s when I took a walk on the wild side. 29 years old is a wee bit old to be believing the cow jumped over the moon, IMHO. Maybe she is hopeless. Maybe she will be peddling miracle supplements on informericals some day.

Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Sorry George. Is there some hidden code in : "name one service that government provides cheaper, better, or even competently, that is also provided by the private sector."

My answer still stands-
Show me a private museum anywhere in the world that can stand toe to to with the Smithsonian. How about a system of parks? Plenty of private "parks" but nothing in the world that compares with our National Park Service or wildlife preserves. How about the library of congress? Etc.

If your question isn't one off, my answer is germane. However, as much as you enjoy sleight of hand and innuendo, please share with us the REAL real question behind your question.

The Green Deal. Put up or shut up, ROFLMAO

So, how many Dem canidates for Prez are in the Senate? Pocahontas declared today, Willie Brown’s squeeze box last week, Spartacluz jumped last week or yesterday but nobody noticed, Gillibrand is in....who else?

Lindsey has grown a pair. Let’s vote on the GNP and get your asses on record. Time to take a stand.

Todd J 5:23-
State of Fear has been completely hashed by knowledgable critics. It is sold as a work of fiction yet people like you have made it a real capstone in your lives. Kind of like all the drugged out Hippies declared "I am a Walrus" as an invocation to god when the Beatles themselves said they were only looking for word rhymes.

From his own website: Michael Crichton's latest blockbuster, State of Fear, is also on the theme of global warming and is, ...likely to mislead the unwary.... Although this is a work of fiction, Crichton's use of footnotes and appendices is clearly intended to give an impression of scientific authority.[23]

As I've said many times, opening your mouth, Todd gives us insight into the depths of your stupidity. You are truly on the lower end of the IQ. Pretending otherwise is embarrassing to all of us, especially those who want to help you the most. Take a cat nap. As my kept man you need to maintain a minimum level of coherence.

Bill Tozer

State of Fear? You mean like having only 12 years until civilization as we know passes into The Point of No Return! Like falling off the edge of the Earth or being fried like a Frito? We are all going to be burned alive! I feel your perennial state of fear, the normal progressive state of mind. Quick, run to your safe places, people. The end is nigh. Holy crap, The End is here!
