That is the best that can be said about ‘Trump’s approach on illegal immigration won’t solve the problem’ by columnist and one of our readers, George Boardman, in the 15apr19 Union. He blithely blames the whole border security problem on President Trump “who created the current crisis” for political reasons. Mr Boardman is known for his solidly established views from the left shoulder from which he occasionally forays to visit the center stripe. But in this latest offering he ventures further into the weeds with claims such as –
- Trump has labeled “all illegal immigrants as criminals that threaten the security of the most powerful nation on earth.” (emphasis mine) Everyone knows that the most powerful nations cannot be so threatened.
- Trump is “siding with racist-driven hardliners who want to shut off all immigration, especially from Third World countries.” (emphasis mine, but who are these racist-driven hardliners?)
- After WW2 “the end of colonial rule didn’t deliver the promised benefits to Third World nations when the US became the economic powerhouse of the world.” (Where has this man studied? All data show exactly the opposite – life in 3rd world countries that embraced models of western governance made and continue to make enormous strides in all dimensions in quality of life for their citizens. The culturally deficient suffered.)
Mr Boardman seems to be innocent of the more salient causes of illegal entry across our southern border. Ted Kennedy’s role in launching chain migration and Third World preference quotas through his Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 is a major omission. And nowhere does he even hint that the Democrats are the major beneficiaries of the increase of America’s Hispanic population – both illegal, and most certainly the ongoing illegal migrations.
In the middle of his piece Mr Boardman shows a welcome awareness that illegal migrant hordes do cost taxpayers somewhere in the $100-300B range annually. And he correctly offers “that’s a high price to pay to fill agricultural and other low-paying jobs”, especially if we want to “retain the core values of America, and control our own destiny.”
However, knowledge of America’s governance should inform Mr Boardman that there is nothing Mr Trump or any president can do to solve our border crisis, save fulfill his constitutional duties to secure the nation and execute current immigration laws. Congress, dominated by globalist anti-American Democrats, will not do anything to slow the migration of illegal aliens. Today the Left is active in Mexico and central America through their NGOs, mega-sponsors, and activists forming up cohorts, numbering in the thousands of women and children, for the perilous journey north. These migrants are motivated, not by Trump’s efforts to secure the border, but only by Democrat promises that our president will be thwarted from doing exactly that; and, that once across, only American taxpayer-sponsored succor and sanctuary awaits them.
Progressive propagandists like Mr Boardman (presumably) see none of this, else they are part of our Left’s openly pursued policies to create a post-American continent in whose history the United States will be seen as a sordid chapter of humanitarian insult, that will then have been corrected by the socially just march to inevitable socialism.
Repost from this morning’s Sandbox.
The first step in recovery is to admit you have a problem. Some say it’s the hardest step.

Trump
"We can’t take you anymore. We can’t take you. Our country is full.”
But of course, according to this blog, that doesn't mean he actually "wants to shut off all immigration" Please educate those of us on the left without the secret code,, what he does mean. Thanks.

I think Trump is saying pit up or shut up. Yopu libsaps want to allow them all in so he says TAKE THEM! And you pay for it. I think you should adopt a few and take them into your home and make them comfortable. Feed and cloth them. If you don't you will then be a chump and a liar. So run down to El Paso and pick some people to bring back to your pad you liar.

Of course, the governor of the Great State of California, with typical understatement sez:
"His words show a total disregard of the Constitution, our justice system, and what it means to be an American."
I did like this line:
"California and 19 other states are suing Mr Trump over his emergency declaration to build a border wall.
The states requested a court order to stop money from being diverted to fund the project just as Air Force One touched down in California on Friday."
Remember back when there was all the whining about how 'only the federal government can enforce immigration law' when Arizona merely wanted to match federal law?
My take is that any time the Blue Mob claims that they aren't in favor of open borders, they're fibbing.

scenes 1225pm - Thanks Mr scenes. If we take into account Trump's usual bravado and imprecise use of language, the best that one could make reasonable meaning out of that "our country is full" statement is it is full to the extent that we cannot or don't want to spend any more monies to care for the onslaught of illegal aliens needing succor, an onslaught the end of which no one has addressed or even considered. What kind of idiot would even think that such mass migrations would ever stop, as we continue to enforce border porosity and welcome with untold benefits those who illegally cross that border? Of that kind of people, of course our country is more than full.
Posted by: George Rebane | 15 April 2019 at 01:00 PM
It all boils down to the missing ingredient: Political will to impede the flow of illegal immigration. The R’s and D’s In Congress just did not want to deal with the problem for twenty or more years. No effective legislation has been written since Reagen, which was a secure border in exchange for amnesty for two million. The amnesty happened, the border security didn’t. Clinton passed some money for the fence, but most of that money was never released from the Appropriations Committee. Not only no political will, political mass resistance. Just write some laws and fix the mess. But, nooo. I sympathize 100% with Ann Coulter’s frustrations.
There is something wrong with our system when we are being dictated by illegal migrants our immigration policy. We are the most generous nation on Earth with our legal immigration policy, by far. No other Nation takes in so many legal immigrants than us. But, it is becoming readily apparent that Central Americans are dictating the terms of our immigration policy, illegal or otherwise. Line jumpers.
When Central Americans are making up 60% of those apprehended at the southern border, read the exact words about fear from a card to the first Border Patrol agent they encounter, have a minor with them, are detained and then and released within 2 days into the heartland.....93% or so never to be seen again or show up at the hearing...it is obvious that they are gaming the system and setting our illegal alien policy. What about those from the rest the world? Our current policy gives preference to Mexican Nationals (by sheer numbers, by far) and Chinese. But, here comes those gaming the system. I
I don’t see what else Trump can do except start sending a couple hundred a month to Nevada City. Drop them off at the Rood Center. Send 8-14,000 a month to Frisco, 10,000 a month to LA, 15k/ month to Chicago, 4,000 a month to Denver, etc. Force the issue. Blow the lid off the impasse.
Congress won’t change any loopholes. Won’t fund a Wall. Won’t, won’t, won’t. DACA was created by an Executive Order, was set to sunset, a federal judge ruled it unconstitutional, and another judge says Trump must renew it, lol. And no meritocracy allowed! That be racist or unfair.
And anytime Trump tries to follow the law, the libbies scream bloody murder, like Trump is doing something new. In a way, yes. Trump is following the law when permitted. :)
Remember, the goal is all those millions of illegals who are here is blanket amnesty for all. All those Central Americans and Sri Lankans and Pakistans showing up at the border reading from the index cards that the human smugglers gave them and disappear for years cannot be deported, even after their asylum claim has been denied (fraudulent claim, lying, not credible fear). We can’t deport them. That would be mean. And that 12 million illegal alien number has not changed for years. Finally, one day for no particular reason, they concede it’s 12-20 million illegals living here. That means it’s 35-40 million.
This will get the libbies going nuts. Always said that for every hard working illegal alien out there busting his rear, there is his wife and kids sitting at home on food stamps and aid.

"I don’t see what else Trump can do except start sending a couple hundred a month to Nevada City. "
No doubt KVMR can build a tent city in the Foundry parking lot.
I was considering how best to do the God Emperor's bidding in this case. If you can't build the detainment center on the south side of the wall (merely build the wall a few hundred yards north of the border in some areas), you could simply start warehousing the undocumented workers in the various sanctuary states. When you get full, give people a Starbucks gift certificate and let them out the front door.
No doubt Lutheran Social Services will bus them all to Minnesota, but in the meantime The Resistance will be happy to take them in.
Trumps idea seems to be catching on, so I say do it:

My first thought was that it's the perfect spot for a Frank Geary mosque. Previously, I just assumed you'd see new minarets built around it like the Hagia Sophia.

I'm sure you've read about Hungary's border fence that solved their illegal immigration problem. It's the Federal Government's responsibility to guard our borders. What's "Homeland Security?" The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is a federal agency designed to protect the United States against threats. Its wide-ranging duties include aviation security, border control, emergency response and cybersecurity. ... Prevent terrorism and enhance security. Secure and manage U.S. borders.
https://searchcompliance.techtarget.com/definition/US-Department-of-Homeland-Security-DHS
I'm sure it costs American taxpayers plenty. Not being able to do their job costs us even more.
It's sensible to have and respect border laws to keep order. Otherwise we'll be overwhelmed, our economy and freedom destroyed.
"Skeptics who believe a border wall will not stop illegals from entering the United States may want to look at what’s happened in Hungary. On the day its border fence was completed, the influx of illegals entering Hungary went down from 6,353 one day to 870 the next. For the remainder of that month, illegal border crossings were steadily below 40 per day, officials said." https://www.worldtribune.com/they-dont-even-try-hungarys-new-border-fence-called-spectacular-success/

You are a cynical, uneducated fool.
It took an entire forest, 13,000 mature, old growth oak trees to build the ceiling of Notre Dame. Tress of that size didn't survive the century. In 1450 the college foresters replanted the oak forest with one thought in mind: rebuild Notre Dame when the time came. Over the centuries there have been many get rich quick hucksters like Trump and Juvenill who wanted to harvest the oaks for a fast buck and instant gratification, yet wiser minds prevailed and the college forest stands to this day. Notre Dame can't be rebuilt, but it can and will be replaced due to conservation, preservation and foresight. Despite fish's wishful thinking I doubt a concrete mosque is in the future.

A quick skim of your links, a reoccurring theme emerges. “We are not afraid of asylum seekers fleeing violence.” Well, neither am I. But since about 70% are denied and may be as high as 90% (10% granted), I see the vast majority of our asylum seekers are not fleeing violence. That’s a no brainer. And therein lies the crux of the “crisis”. And ICE now cannot deport anyone who lives with (same address) or someday MIGHT be a caretaker of an minor child, save for murder and rape. That was in the last budget bill. Remember Shummer saying, “Sign the bill, Mr. President. Sign the bill Mr. President.” Oh my. The liars and cheats are in for good with that child get out of jail free card...and the lion’s share are not fleeing violence.
Political asylum is meant to those who if we don’t get they out tonight, they will be dead within a couple of days. Phone Rings. “Paramilitary goons are coming for you, get out now!” Click. But, most asylum seekers from our Hemisphere are not members of a targeted group. No ethnic cleansing ether.
The poster child (literally) for the separating families and caging little brown children was such an example of amnesty fraud. Time Mag cover with mean big ole Trump with stern face towering over tiny tiny crying scared little brown girl. Heart wrenching.
The truth is that pic of the girl is she was standing 6’ from her mother. It was night, the girl was tired and hungry, and her Mom was right there with her backed turned talking to Border Patrol agent. The woman was previously deported a few years ago. Illegal reentry makes it a felony. News interviews w/ the father (husband) at the time back home said they had a home, he was making ok money working for the harbor authority, no complaints, has 4 kids, no domestic violence or credible fears. No, one day his wife wanted to go work in America as a waitress, grabbed on child, and took off with 6k. The other kids miss their sister and the little girl Mom took with her misses her brothers and sisters and Dad and family. Fleeing violence? Two time liar.

Hmmm. They will be fleeing the violence in LA soon enough. Send them to Chicago. Chicago needs more folks to replace the ones who are fleeing bad schools, violence, and high taxes. Or send them to that model of community safety, Newark, NJ...whose former mayor is running for President. Or send them to South Bend, Indiana. They have 25% of their population living under the poverty level, same % as some of the countries to our south. Shitholes. They will feel right at home. :). Hey, isn’t the mayor of South Bend also running for President? Oh my.

All news carried that rant of Trump's, but only the left-leaners kept at it. Horrified, since there is obviously room. Just look at Nevada... 90% of it is empty (because the Feds own 90% of it).
Trump was clear... he was talking about detention facilities being full. No more room. And he didn't want to just do the catch and release tango. So he said, no more room.
That was last Monday. On Friday, a Federal judge cleared the way for pushing them back over the border into Mexico to wait their turn for a hearing.

Yes indeed it is nice to no longer have the lecturer in chief finger wagging or on apology tours -
“We understand the global liberal political elite and global liberal media hate your president, they hate what he has been doing, but they hate what we have been doing as well,” he said.
Szijjarto, who has met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo multiple times in the last year, pointed to an early visit to D.C. after he was appointed foreign minister in 2014 as an example of the "lecturing" relationship during the Obama administration. He said that on that visit, he was not greeted by Secretary of State John Kerry but by then-Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, who he said confronted him with a list of domestic reforms.
“She basically threw a paper on the table when we had the negotiations ... where some instructions were written how we should change our constitution, how we should change our regulation regarding media, constitutional court, churches, so on and so forth and she told me if we could comply with these instructions or advices then it would be possible to speak about enhancing the bilateral political cooperation,” he said.
“I mean, this is a clear interference into domestic issues, telling another country what to decide,” he added.

re BillT 934am - We are seeing a number of 'the total is less than the sum of its parts' phenomena in our border counties and cities. These local governments experiencing the existential invasion of our country by illegal aliens can declare themselves to have emergencies and be in extremis, but when we look at the overall border situation, then magically there is no national security emergency. This reminds me of when the extremely talented investigative journalist Sarah A. Carter went to the border two weeks ahead of the President to poke around and get a feel for things before the drive-by media descended. She was out in no man’s land when two males came up to her and turned themselves in. They were from Sri Lanka or Pakistan or somewhere. They did not even know they where in the US, lol. They were told by the traffickers to walk north from wherever they got dropped off.
The trafficking route took them to Qatar, then for 18k, they were moved across N. Africa to Central America and up somewhere near the border when they got abandoned. They had been walking for 2-3 days, did not know where they were, and turned themselves into the first person they saw in a vehicle.
Big influx of Cubans lately. Mexico is turning away Cubans and letting Central Americans pass. Lots of money to be made. And they say despicable Trump is using refugees as pawns, lol.
