[Back from travel. I hope that some of our readers have been following the trail and travail of foreign correspondent and journalist Lara Logan, recently of '60 Minutes' fame. She is causing quite a consternation in the lamestream media who have targeted her for destruction since she has blown the whistle on the whole progressives' propaganda machine. Her interview on tonight's Mark Levin show was superb. gjr]
Lara Logan is just telling the truth. My, how far they have gone off the rails.

Trump will be in a strong re-election position as the economy is strong. The loons on the left are also helping a lot.

I thought Lara's comments at the end of the interview about Benghazi were very revealing. It confirmed my view that Ambassador Stevens was abandoned by Obama and his spineless administration.

Once again you ignore my simple question that is do you believe that Trump is telling the truth when he says he won't release his taxes because he's being audited for all 6 years. he has affirmed that as soon as he is no longer being audited he will release his returns. Do you believe he is telling the truth?

You show your raw stupidity by squirting something like "Trump will be in a strong re-election position as the economy is strong". The election is over a year and a half away, Trump might be in prison. Hillary might be president. Your skirt might blow over your head. 18 MONTHs away. What economy?
Posted by: Ozz | 07 April 2019 at 09:52 PM
trump is incapable of telling the truth. His recently appointed goon Barr issues a 4 page summary of a 400 page legal document and declares 'no harm no foul' and congress will get a redacted version (undoubtedly so trump's goons can cleanse the report of any damaging information) sometime soon. Another recently appointed goon Mickey Mulvaney sets the tone by declaring that "Democrats will never see Donald Trump's tax returns" despite established law and precedent that says Congress is entitled to both the full text of the report and trump's tax returns.
It's all stall to keep any more damaging revelations from seeing the daylight and the voters until after the election when, if he wins, he will refuse once again. Of course, if he loses all of this will be meaningless in the face of prison time for tax evasion and fraud. You know that is what this is all about....keeping the Donald out of the slammer for as long a possible. Why do you think he came up with the whole lock up Hillary mantra...attack out of your weak point to deflect attention away from your transgressions onto your opponent. Why do you think so many anti-gay homophobic politicians get caught with their pants down in airport mens rooms?

Keep drinking the Kool-Aide, Bobbie.
“Why do you think so many anti-gay homophobic politicians get caught with their pants down in airport mens rooms?” I dunno. I can name one in June, 2007. But, since you said “so many”, that would be five or six. I will go easy on ya. Name four. Ok, considering your arrested development, name three that got caught with their pants down in airport men’s rooms. And the one I can name (2007) got caught playing footsie. Whether his pants were down or not, it never came up. Name three. You can do it Bobbie! Come on cumbreath, name three. Actually, three would be a few. “Many” would be more than a few, but I will cut you some slack.
Remember, we are going to come for you and march pyou up against the wall, roflmao. Where do these wack jobs come from? Be afraid, be very afraid. Boo! Hide under the bed. No wait, the Boogieman is under the bed. Hide in the closet!
With your sterling record of getting everything wrong, how about you tell me what you have gotten right. I have twenty seconds, which should be more than enough time to tell me what you got correct in the last three years.
Barr the goon. Good one. So predictable. If nothing else, you are consistent. And Trump will be gone this Spring. And Trump is going to jail for tax something. And, and, and....
Toss her in the paddy wagon, drive her to the drunk tank, and lock her up! Lock her up!

Punchy... you're just punching the tax return angle? There's no requirement for a President to make his or her returns public. I thought you knew that.
I suspect Trump was audited every year, and Presidents are automatically audited every year.
That's the reason he gave, not that he needs any reason. Tax returns are private, you know.
Yes, Ozz, a year anna half is a long time. You are certainly free to pray for economic collapse in order to assure Trump and the GOP's loss... but if DEM fingerprints are on such a calamity, that might not wear well in Nov 2020 and beyond.

Good God, George, these people from left land really are nuts! Where do you find them?
Posted by: L | 07 April 2019 at 11:50 PM
Actually, Congress can request a taxpayer’s return if stated for a legislative purpose, like needed to write tax law. The return (per Law) will be released in executive session of the Committee......which means the committee goes to a safe room. No cameras, no phones, no recording devises, no pen or paper allowed. No notes, no copying. No aides? They can look at the returns there. Knowing how most in Congress on the Dem side are not the sharpest tools in the shed, they can try to make heads or tails of the stack of returns of over 500 companies, but it is a felony to leak one word. The law makes no exception for a President, so Trump is provided the protections of any citizen.
Been waiting for someone to put it in an article to save typing. My understanding may be inaccurate, but judging by comments by both the Dems and the good guys, it ain’t going to happen. First, name the legislative purpose for writing tax law that these particular returns are needed. First things first. This will be tied up in the courts for many moons.

Geeze Louise, another scandal about foreigners trying to help Hillary win an election.
“Nellie Ohr, wife of a senior Justice official and a researcher for the Fusion GPS opposition-research firm, testified to Congress last year that some of Fusion GPS’s research on Trump-Russia ties came from a Ukrainian parliamentarian. The Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign paid Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on Trump.
Although Ohr acknowledged the Ukrainian source, lawmakers did not press her to be more specific.

It takes a fevered imagination for either. Can't happen.
Hillary as President is the sillier of the two, as in no case would the 2016 result be overturned and HRC given the keys to the White House.
It's over. Mueller didn't find what you were dreaming of. Every day. What Rachael, Joe, Mike, Don, Adam, all of them, were promising day after day. It's just about to blow. YESSIRREE BOB!

Jade Helm 15 was a poorly communicated military exercise conducted over multiple states that had all the visible trappings of something roguish happening as stealthy units, some dressed in civilian clothes, maneuvered in urban and country areas. Given the Obama era's divisive signs of the times (and Russia’s involvement), an ill-informed population exercising free speech did come up with some pretty draconian theories for all the existential cloak/dagger stuff suddenly happening in their midst. These quickly died down as the government turned up the info spigot and explained the matter to them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jade_Helm_15_conspiracy_theories
However, as far as organized and enduring conspiracy theories based on no evidence whatsoever are concerned, the now far-left Democratic leadership takes the cake in American history by continuing to pursue multifarious and multi-year fishing expeditions after Team Trump on the pretense that the president is here to do away with American democracy, a nefarious program that began with the infamous Russian collusion that stole the 2016 election from Her Holiness Hillary.

Trump claims he is being audited and that's why he won't turn over his tax returns. He has said repeatedly that he will turn them over when he is out of audit. My question is simply do you believe him and is he telling the truth? It is a different question as to whether he has to make his taxes public. I am not asking that question.

PaulE 1048am - I think that Trump lied when he said he'd turn them over when his audit is over. 1) Given he's Donald Trump, he will ALWAYS be under some kind of IRS audit, and 2) no matter what happens, he won't reveal his tax returns - they contain too much political ammo for his enemies. But not to worry about any material illegalities or irregularities, the IRS would have long ago leaked any of that to beyond the orbit or Neptune.

It would seem that he should be cleared for some years since he claims he's being audited for all six years. My tax person says he's never heard of an audit taking that long. We do agree however that Trump lied about saying he'll turn them over when the audit is complete. That's and example as to why I call him our "liar in chief".

Y2K
That was Luddites on both sides of the aisle worried about technology they didn't understand. There wasn't.
The only thing that happened was lots of programmers who were keepers of the old COBOL knowledge got one last big payday patching and rewriting old code.
GW denial

Then there's the GW Deniers who. like me, have read the science journals for themselves and see how weak the claims are, and are watching the signs of cooling, much like the golf referee at the end in Caddyshack watching the golf ball teetering on the edge...

Your assumption is purely that. My question is why doesn't Trump release his tax returns like all other President candidates have for the last 50 years. Do you think he's doing that out of principal or because he has something to hide? It's a moot question because he said he would release his returns so he has no problem with the idea however gosh and golly he's being audited so he can't. Sure. Even you don't even believe that George.

We told you so! -
After winning her House race last year, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., "swung by" to say goodbye to the Coffee Shop in Union Square where she used to work.
She tweeted: "The restaurant I used to work at is closing its doors. I swung by today to say hi one last time, and kid around with friends like old times."
What she didn't say is that the popular coffee shop was closing its doors because it couldn't afford the $15 minimum pay raise that Ocasio-Cortez has gone on to strongly support.
“The times have changed in our industry,” co-owner Charles Milite told The New York Post. “The rents are very high and now the minimum wage is going up and we have a huge number of employees.”
The American Action Forum calculates that minimum wage hikes will kill 261,000 jobs -- with most of the losses concentrated in New York and California.
In just the last three months of last year, 4,000 workers lost jobs at full-service restaurants, Bureau of Labor Statistics data show. By the end of last year, there were fewer restaurant workers in New York than in November 2016, according to Investor's Business Daily.
Last month, Maryland became the sixth state in the nation to approve a gradual minimum wage increase to $15 an hour. The American Action Forum predicts the move could cost the state 94,600 jobs.
"For perspective, this is equivalent to eliminating nearly 50 percent of projected job growth between 2016 and 2026," Ben Gitis, director of labor market policy at American Action Forum, wrote. "Maryland is not in a strong position to absorb this shock, as it continued to experience below-average job growth while the state implemented its previous minimum wage hike from 2014 to 2018."

Paul... every President gets their returns audited. Trump's are probably the most complex.
I have no way to decide if Trump is telling the truth regarding being under audit... perhaps someday his audits will me made public. Perhaps not.
I care little about them myself, and it's clear you only care about them as fodder for those looking for political nits to pick at. I kinda like the idea that Presidents current and future can tell the newsy class to pound sand... professional politicians have the time and inclination to sanitize their tax returns.
Posted by: Gregory | 08 April 2019 at 04:18 PM
We're talking about voters Gregory not the "Newsy Class". Don't you think they have the right to know about a candidates financial dealings as essential information in order to make a decision about who to vote for? The issue is why is trump hiding this and other information from the voters.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 08 April 2019 at 04:46 PM
Actually, I think all the media types need to release their tax returns. Since they push their bias and information to influence others I think we need to see their finances and see who is getting paid off.

Polling shows the public cares little about Trump’s tax returns. They have Investigation Fatigue. They were just lied to for the 2 1/2 years and are tuning out. But, go ahead and knock yourself out. It’s all in the tax returns! The silver bullet is in the tax returns! We mean it this time. It’s true because we say it is true, roflmao. It’s in Al Capone’s vault.
Oh, the Leftinistas are always skirting the law. Lawlessness breeds lawlessness. Subpoena Trump’s legions of CPAs, tax law specialists, and internal auditors. Get their hands on his State tax returns. Weaponize departments of the Executive Branch for political purposes. Its sooooo Leftinista of them. Sooo Banana Republic of them. The Lefties are now both the Enemy of the People and the Enemy of the Constitution. It’s who they are. Lawless. They are enough to turn even a NeverTrumper into a Libertarian. Excluding the lawlesss Banana Republic Socialcrats, we are all Libertarians now.
Now, the silver lining. The hunters are becoming the hunted....and they have no place to hide. They done got smoked out. Pivot to tax returns! That’s where the bodies are buried! It’s true! I really mean it this time!
Welcome to my parlor said the spider to the fly.

Posted by: Gregory | 08 April 2019 at 05:11 PM
Right to know your tax returns? Not if there is not an established basis of criminality involved. The 'right to know' everything is the latest Orwellian take by the Left. Along with millions of others, I would have liked to know Obama's college writings before people voted for him. There now was something important for voters to understand about a presidential candidate, then President. But I could not claim that as a 'right'; however every leftwinger believes he can.
Posted by: George Rebane | 08 April 2019 at 05:36 PM
Regarding the right to privacy... forgive me for repeating this story. Call it a privilege of my advancing age (and get off my lawn!).
I remember working with a bunch of Jewish/Israeli/South African immigrants (with several being all three) back when Bork was being Borked, with one VP loudly stating Bork was a "right wing Nazi" (Errol was South African and Jewish). A few months later, the SCOTUS overturned a "right to privacy" case, with the settled law being a specific case that had been found to protect privacy by the SCOTUS a few years earlier.
A friend, David, (one of the combos of all three) came into my office (I had walls and a door in those days) announcing that MY SCOTUS had found there wasn't a right to privacy in the Constitution. Well, sort of. There really isn't, although we've cobbled together a right to privacy out of the barriers to search and seizure etc etc that we call privacy.
I then gave him a big smile... do you know who the lawyer was that originally won the case that was overturned? David looked pained... "Don't tell me it was Bork!" and it was all I could do to not burst out laughing. Yes, it was Bork.
Justice Kennedy got the chair that should have gone to Bork; now Kavanaugh sits in it. Who knows who will sit in the chair that will be vacated by Ruth Vader Ginsberg sooner or later? That is an interesting question.
Posted by: Gregory | 08 April 2019 at 05:52 PM
Hugh George!!!
You are equating Obama's college musings with tax returns??? Really, that's a stretch. I mean audits that last 6 years are a bit of a stretch of credibility but you already admitted Trump lied about releasing his returns after the audit so it's a moot point. I guess in your view it's ok to lie to the voters when you're running for office.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 08 April 2019 at 05:57 PM
College musings, Punch? He was on Harvard's Law Review! Not that he wrote much while occupying that role.
Obama's college records were sewn up tighter than the fun parts of a teenaged Kenyan girl and no, most college records are open to anyone who wants to know. Unlike tax returns, there's no criminal penalties for distributing copies.
Posted by: Gregory | 08 April 2019 at 06:03 PM
Equating?! where'd you get that. I'm talking about non-existent 'rights'. And do I support Donald's lies over Hillary's? You bet!

No, voters have no such right. They have the power to not vote for candidates who don't reveal their taxes. In 2016 voters decided they didn't such a revelation in order to elect Trump. Guess whatever shocking revelations Cohen has, it must be trivial...or not worth the bad optics of Cohen’s track record. Cohen is a convicted felon for lying to Congress and since his last testimony, he done got himself another criminal referral to the DOJ for lying to Congress again! His Clinton lawyer and fixer Lanny Davis should have never put him in that situation...if he cared about his client. Cohen got his 15 minutes of fame and tried peddling his book...a book that praises Trump of all things. :)
And the Dems got what they wanted. They got Cohen to say that Trump is a dictator and Cohen fears Trump has no plans to ever leave office while offering no supporting evidence. Dictator for life! Dictator for life and a threat to our democracy fed exactly into the narrative....a narrative that confirms Robert Cross’s and Bill Maher worse fears and deeply held beliefs.
Trump has powers that made Cohen do bad things without Trump ever coming out and telling him to do bad things. Is there nothing Orange Man cannot do!! Such power! Power to get into their minds. Called TDS.
Now, since Cohen received a medical delay in reporting to prison, how could he possibly have the strength to go through 14 million zillion gazillion files?? Me thinks his medical condition is not that serious.
Now that they got Cohen to say the exact things they wanted him to say, long time no come see. Yet another who was dusted off, cleaned up, used, sucked dry, and kicked out of the Dem car going 90 mph. Next!

The left on the decline in the west -
On the contrary, the most far-reaching consequence of the 2019 Israeli election may well be that it verified, beyond any reasonable doubt, that there is functionally no left left in Israel. It has become a country with a center, a right, and a far right, but no electorally viable left to speak of.
Center-left social democratic parties have been in sharp decline in recent years across the Western world. But nowhere has the collapse been more stunning than in Israel, whose founders and ruling class for the first 30 years of the country's existence were very deeply linked with the labor movement. Labor has been in retreat ever since the collapse of peace negotiations with the Palestinians in 2000. But its showing on Tuesday was truly astonishing: With 5 percent of the vote, the Israeli Labor Party is now less than two percentage points away from failing to clear the minimum threshold (3.25 percent) for winning seats in the Knesset. The party is approaching the possibility of extinction.

As good a guess as any given the "you cannot make this stuff up" tagline. I don't much care as long as he doesn't spill pie anywhere.
Interestingly, Pelline is the only person here I've ever seen do his thing in person. He was being breathtakingly rude, so I admit that it might nudge my responses now and again. I really should only respond to the text I see.
The TRUMP THREATENS SNL 'news' from the non-news site is a typical example of how the internet makes people crazy. The original tweet is inconsequential, somebody writes a clickbait story, some other politically motivated site picks it up in a list of current Trump crimes, some idiot reads it and does some handwaving. It's the nature of the times I'm afraid, and it ain't gonna get any better.
It would be nice if the Blue Mob authors would stick to genuine issues like healthcare, but I suppose that their ideas (or their own Fearless Leaders' ideas) really aren't any better. It isn't like Maxine Waters, the guy who looks like the old men on The Muppet Show, or AOC are capable of cooking up something, although AOC does have those dreamy dreamy eyes.

Learning Hasn’t Improved, But Indoctrination Is Amped
“If you are under the impression that there are good white people and bad white people, you’re wrong,” UnboundEd CEO Kate Gerson told the teachers this year, according to Hess and Addison. “Gerson informed her charges that racial biases are pervasive, universal, and something ‘you cannot be cured from.'”
“Once upon a time, Common Core critics were roundly mocked for fearing that the reading and math standards would somehow serve to promote sweeping ideological agendas; today, Gerson and her team are doing their best to vindicate those concerns,” write Hess and Addison.“

Spying:
The FBI acknowledged placing informants in the Trump campaign as part of what it called “Operation: Crossfire Hurricane,” but insisted the project was merely intended to ensure Russia was not unduly interfering with the United States’ presidential election.
“Barr suggested the purpose was less innocent.”
“The generation I grew up in which is Vietnam war period, people were all concerned about spying on anti-war people and so forth by the government and there were a lot of rules put in place to make sure there’s an adequate basis before our law enforcement agencies get involved in political surveillance,” Barr continued. “ I’m not suggesting that those rules were violated, but I think it’s important to look at that. And I’m not talking about the FBI necessarily, but intelligence agencies more broadly.”
