[It looks like a sea change may have occurred in the RR comment streams. Absent are the vacuous critiques of everything not supporting our country’s headlong rush to socialism. These leftwingers seldom countered the message, and always condemned the messengers. And this absence also appears to have reduced the zeal of our commenting capitalists who usually mass to defend open markets, liberty, and smaller government. Perhaps it is time for a respite from the raucous. gjr]

DonB 1124am - Being somewhat familiar with the UCMJ, I know of nothing in there that prohibits military personnel displaying or wearing likenesses of their commanding officers, and most certainly of their Commander-in-Chief who must needs be an elected civilian politician.

fish 1200pm - Agreed. But if it truly is part of a presidential personality cult (which I doubt), then it is one that spontaneously started with the troops and not originated from the WH. And evidence of that kind of affinity for the President spells trouble for the Dems.

The headlines over the last couple of days said Biden kicking back, no events for the three day weekend, press barred from asking him questions, few public appearances to avoid reminding folks just how old and old looking he has become, lol.

A couple of quotes:
For the record: “The common thread here isn’t just right-wing populism. It’s contempt for the ideology of them before us: of the immigrant before the native-born; of the global or transnational interest before the national or local one; of racial or ethnic or sexual minorities before the majority; of the transgressive before the normal. It’s a revolt against the people who say: Pay an immediate and visible price for a long-term and invisible good. It’s hatred of those who think they can define that good, while expecting someone else to pay for it.” —New York Times columnist Brett Stephens on why conservatives are gaining ground worldwide and why Trump will win a second term
The BIG Lie: “President Trump in Tokyo: ‘Kim Jong Un is smarter and would make a better President than Sleepy Joe Biden.’” —Eurasia Group president Ian Bremmer (As Bremmer later admitted, Trump said no such thing — though Trump did unnecessarily stir the pot with a callous statement.)

“I'm sure there's some Indian reservations that have the necessary stuff under the ground.”
It’s called firewater. The stash. Happy feet. And dummies think it’s the buried hatchet. :)
Actually, the Confederate Tribes of the Colville Indian Res has an interesting history. They got moved to a spot, but then got moved by settlers and other interests. Then they got moved again when silver or something was found. Finally, some of the tribes got moved again. This time they found uranium on the land. Unfortunately for the Great White Fathers in Washington, the sixties and early seventies were a period when a big push was going on to educate them savages in the Northwest. Free college and all that stuff. Native Americans’ moment in the lights. Billy Jack, Little Big Man, I Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee, etc.
Then the young people started returning home from the Ivy League schools as lawyers and if you want that uranium, you are going to pay, paleface. They done got educated, lol. From memory, every man, woman, and child got an advance of 50k upfront by the mining company with more yearly cash to come. Yes, it’s buried in the ground. Now it ends up in Russian and Iran.

I carefully listened to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's statement this morning. It was simply a five-minute summation of the 450-page report. Nothing new. And in America jurisprudence, if there is no indictment then the person is innocent. Trump is innocent of collusion and obstruction. The talking heads of both sides though are parsing every word but in my humble opinion, they are misreading what Mueller said. And it appears that Mueller is done and does not want to be involved anymore. Now we see that democrat loon Nadler, a man that has already said Trump is guilty of crimes, yapping about impeachment. Well, he has nothing but his opinion which along with a dime can't even get a cup of coffee. So let us move along America and get the people's work done. Amazing

Todd. @ 9:08 am.....re: Mueller statement,
Yep, won’t change one mind. Why bother to try? Some time ago, I did one of my infrequent post on the Union’s comments. I cannot believe how plumb ignorant (unknowing) those D posters on the Union comments are. Jaw dropping. Just don’t have the words to capture that kind of ignorance
I merely mentioned that the Steele Dossier was bought and paid for by HRC and the DNC. A political hit job with the payments laundered through the law firm of Perkins Coie to Fusion GPS. I also mentioned that Obama’s personal lawyer works for Perkins Coie. minor detail. The ignorant instantly shot down that comment I wrote as preposterous, wild Right Winger conspiracy theories, and PROOVE IT! I pointed to Senate testimony and walked away.
Why bother. I do not have the time, energy, or needed desire to school them on the facts. It would take up way too much space to begin from the start. Even leaving out details and sticking to general main points, it would beyond their capabilities (and desire) to absorb.
If they cannot get their heads around Hillary behind the Steele Dossier, how in the heck do you get them to understand that the DOJ/ CIA did not have a reasonable basis for launching a politically motivated criminal investigation into theTrump Campaign. Nay, the motivation was illegitimate. A political hit job.
But, why bother. They still believe that Michael Cohen flew to Prague to meet secretly with the Russians about a Trump Hotel in Moscow or whatever their twisted sick imaginations can fathom. There is not one piece of evidence, not one credit card, hotel or airline receipt....no passport stamp and the Mueller Report thoroughly debunked that tall tale. But, never mind. Why bother. May they live happily in everlasting ignorance. Ignorance is bliss. :). Oh yeah, CNN and MSNBC gets it right many times over more than does Fox, roflmao. Why bother.
Think Lindsey Graham said it best when he recently stated that not one Democrat seems to care when the Russian investigation started or whether the FBI and DOJ defrauded the FISA court. Not one Democrat seems to care. Even here in Clinton Country. :)
When they know so much that isn’t so, where do you start? Do you think they even care that the previous Administration spied on a political campaign and unmasked hundreds of citizens to do some heavy duty “ surveillance” on them....for being part of the political opposition
Shoot Howdy, I am old enough to remember when the Left were the self-proclaimed vanguards of protecting Americans’ civil liberties. Obsessed with the issue. Now, not one of them cares. Why bother?

The NYU professor who foresaw that Whole Foods Market would be taken over by Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) is now predicting that troubled electric carmaker Tesla Inc. (TSLA) will become an acquisition target in the near future.
NYU professor Scott Galloway expects shares of the Silicon Valley car company to plunge by 50% in the next year, making it prey to a takeover by a competitor such as Toyota Motor Corp. Fox News Channel finished May as the most-watched network across all of basic cable for the 35th straight month as CNN continued its downward spiral and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had her worst month of the Trump administration.
Fox News averaged 1.3 million total day viewers, while MSNBC finished second with an average of 909,000. TNT, ESPN and HGTV round out the top five while the liberal CNN finished eighth, averaging only 552,000.
Beleaguered CNN’s most-watched show was “Cuomo Prime Time,” which finished No. 25 overall, behind 14 different Fox News shows and 10 programs on MSNBC. CNN’s other struggling primetime shows, “Anderson Cooper 360” and “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon,” finished 26th and 35th, respectively.

The end is near -
The IG first indicated in its June 2018 report on DOJ and FBI misconduct that "although FBI policy strictly limits the employees who are authorized to speak to the media, we found that this policy appeared to be widely ignored during the period we reviewed."
The IG, flagging what it called an apparent "cultural" problem at the bureau, said at the time it would announce the conclusion of multiple separate "investigations" into the matter at a later date. The Wednesday report appeared to be the opening salvo in those reports. A distinct, comprehensive IG report covering a variety of additional matters, including potential FBI surveillance abuses, is expected in a matter of weeks.
The investigative summary released Wednesday specifically found by a preponderance of evidence that the DAD had "engaged in misconduct when the DAD accepted a ticket, valued at approximately $225, to attend a media-sponsored dinner, as a gift from a member of the media, in violation of federal regulations and FBI policy."
The report also assessed that the DAD "disclosed to the media the existence of information that had been filed under seal in federal court, in violation of 18 USC § 401, Contempt of Court, provided without authorization FBI law enforcement sensitive information to reporters on multiple occasions; and had dozens of official contacts with the media without authorization, in violation of FBI policy." Contempt of court can be punished by a jail term or a fine, at the court's discretion.
The IG concluded by describing "the harm caused by leaks, fear of potential leaks, and a culture of unauthorized media contacts."
"We do not believe the problem is with the FBI’s policy, which we found to be clear and unambiguous," the IG added. "Rather, we concluded that these leaks highlight the need to change what appears to be a cultural attitude."

Cultural Attitude. That’s the whole ball of wax. The DOJ-FBI- CIA and Intelligence has had the run of the place for years. Never challenged, never spanked. Of course they are going to have a Cultural Attitude. Now that they cannot call the shots or control the narrative, they are acting crazier that two rats in a sock. It’s the process of smoking them out.
Don, did you pick up on what Christopher Steele said the other day? He will not talk to Barr or that fed prosecutor from Connecticut, John Burnham. No way, Jose. He did talk to the Mueller team (rumor has it Steele was one of the contractors the Mueller team used when farming out the Investigation) and said he WILL talk to the IG. Hmmm. It is my understanding that the IG has no subpoena power, no penalty power, and can only talk to current employees. Of course Steele would talk to the IG, lol. Barr is smart to have the IG work in connection with a good prosecutor. Comes in handy when making a referral. :).

“Pelosi asserted that because Facebook has not deleted an altered video of her that was posted last week, they must have enabled the Russians in 2016. As The Washington Post reports from a transcript provided by Pelosi’s office, she told KQED News:
We have said all along, “Poor Facebook, they were unwittingly exploited by the Russians.” I think wittingly, because right now they are putting up something that they know is false. I think it’s wrong. They’re lying to the public. ... I think they have proven — by not taking down something they know is false — that they were willing enablers of the Russian interference in our election.”

“.....Seventy-eight percent of Planned Parenthood clinics are located in minority communities. Blacks make up 12.1 percent of the U.S. population, but 35 percent of the country’s abortions. In his opinion, Thomas cites New York Department of Health data that states, “there are areas of New York City in which black children are more likely to be aborted than they are to be born alive—and are up to eight times more likely to be aborted than white children in the same area.”
“Thomas concludes that the increased use of eugenic abortions is exactly why Indiana passed a law protecting the unborn from discrimination, and exactly why the Supreme Court cannot ignore a ruling on the subject for much longer.
“Enshrining a constitutional right to an abortion based solely on the race, sex, or disability of an unborn child, as Planned Parenthood advocates, would constitutionalize the views of the 20th-century eugenics movement,” he writes. “In other contexts, the Court has been zealous in vindicating the rights of people even potentially subjected to race, sex, and disability discrimination.”

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that Facebook’s decision not to nix altered photos of her is a clear example that the company willingly allowed Russia to interfere in the 2016 election.
“I think wittingly, because right now they are putting up something that they know is false,” she told a California news outlet, referring to what she believes is Facebook’s role in Russian interference. “I think it’s wrong … I can take it … But [Facebook is] lying to the public.” "

Mueller isn’t looking for justice, he is looking for revenge. 4 take-aways with the Mueller translator on:
1) No way does he want to answer one question on Capitol Hill about exactly when he knew the Russian Collusion was a hoax. We all know by now that Mueller knew it was a hoax before he even got on board. Too many e-mails will be coming out. CYA. Why did it take 600 days if he knew it was a bogus? No way is he going to take those types of questions.
2) The ICA was based entirely on the Steele Dossier (and its several authors)...and according to Nunes, the sick imagination of Glenn Simpson, aka, the man behind the Dossier. That is why Mueller brought up the Russian interference today. To put meat on the ICA bones. The ICA was garage, put out by the Obama Administration, and is about to be discredited by declassification. Back to Russia interfering in our elections...minus Trump. :)
3). Shame, shame, shame. Why did Mueller say today he could not charge Trump by the OLC guidelines? That is not what Mueller told Barr. Barr specifically asked Mueller several times if Mueller did not charge Trump because of Office of Legal Counsel guidelines. Mueller said “no, no, no. That’s not why.” So, either Mueller lied today or Barr lied. The story Mueller told today is not what he said previously. Shameful. Shame. I will bet my right arm the person lying to the American people is Robert Mueller. Barr must be pissed to the max.
4) Why did Mueller reiterate the obstruction of justice innuendos? Why did he harp on it? Because he wants Trump to be impeached. He once again put it on Congress and fed the talking heads with what to cry to the heavens about tonight. He could not find chargeable offenses, but keep the drumbeat going! Not enough to bring charges, and he felt no mandate to draw a conclusion, ROFLMAO. A disgraceful display by a broken shell of a man. No to talking to Congress, the report speaks for itself. Darn right it does....perfectly. Speaks volumes Mueller filter off.
————————————
Breaking News! Mueller releases joint statement with Barr “clarifying” Mueller’s lies.
“The Attorney General has previously stated that the Special Counsel repeatedly affirmed that he was not saying that, but for the OLC opinion, he would have found the President obstructed justice. The Special Counsel's report and his statement today made clear that the office concluded it would not reach a determination - one way or the other - about whether the President committed a crime. There is no conflict between these statements.”
Mueller’s second justification is more obvious: he essentially said he was doing Congress’ impeachment groundwork for them. “The Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing,” Mueller stated. This is an invitation to impeachment.
But that’s not Mueller’s job. He is a member of the executive branch. He is not an independent counsel. He is not a legislative investigator. A criminal investigation that cannot possibly result in charges is a conflict in terms. Mueller never should have agreed to such an investigation under the law, and Mueller’s own standard makes that clear.

Stand up and salute!
Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh recommended amending the ordinance, which will be voted on July 15 by the city council and needs two votes to pass.
“In speaking with city council members, I believe this is the direction the majority of council would like to go at this time,” Kutteh said in a statement Wednesday. “Some terrible things have been said about our wonderful town and it hasn’t come from our citizens. But people from all over the country have jumped on this issue and called us names I can’t repeat. When our community’s efforts to conduct business in an orderly, lawful manner begins to hurt our businesses, then it’s time to put a stop to it.”

Aha. Looks like the Clown Car is on the impeachment on ramp. Aren’t these the same characters who tried to publicly kill, crush and destroy a good man AND his family? Yes, it’s the same bunch we saw at the Kavanaugh hearings. Beyond despicable. The Lefty 2020 gang.
Quotes inspired by the Mueller presser:
Upright: “By asking the executive to investigate itself, it was guaranteed — yes, guaranteed — that we’d have a fight over ‘obstruction of justice.’ For the architect of that investigation to keep saying ‘We aren’t exonerating our target’ is extraordinary. Innocence is the default position in this country. If a person doesn’t have enough evidence that someone committed a crime to contend that a crime was committed, he is obliged to presume his innocence. ‘Not exonerated’ is not a standard in our system, and it shouldn’t be one in our culture, either.” —Charles C.W. Cooke
Impeachment hyperventilation I: “Robert Mueller’s statement makes it clear: Congress has a legal and moral obligation to begin impeachment proceedings immediately.” —Sen. Cory Booker
Impeachment hyperventilation II: “I think it’s a fair inference from what we heard in that press conference that Bob Mueller was essentially referring impeachment to the United States Congress.” —Sen. Kamala Harris
Impeachment hyperventilation III: “Mueller leaves no doubt: 1) He didn’t exonerate the president because there is evidence he committed crimes. 2) Justice Department policy prevented him from charging the president with any crimes. 3) The Constitution leaves it up to Congress to act — and that’s impeachment.” —Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Impeachment hyperventilation IV: “It’s time for Congress to begin impeachment hearings and follow the facts. Robert Mueller clearly expects Congress to exercise its constitutional authority and take steps that he could not. We can’t let the president defy basic accountability measures built into our Constitution.” —Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand
Impeachment hyperventilation V: “Given that Special Counsel Mueller was unable to pursue criminal charges against the President, it falls to Congress to respond to the crimes, lies and other wrongdoing of President Trump — and we will do so. No one, not even the President of the United States, is above the law.” —House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler
Impeachment hyperventilation VI: “Mueller is playing a game of Taboo with Congress. His word is ‘impeach.’"—Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Impeachment buzzkill: "Many constituents want to impeach the president. But we want to do what is right and what gets results. … But we do want to make such a compelling case, such an ironclad case that even the Republican Senate would — at this time [it] seems to be not an objective jury — will be convinced of the path that we have to take as a country.” —Nancy Pelosi
And last… “Robert Mueller said ‘it would be unfair to accuse someone of a crime when there can be no court resolution.’ So why did he spend the entire second half of his report accusing the president of committing a crime without evidence?” —Charlie Kirk

Bonus quote from the Enemy of the People:
Leftmedia principles: “Neutrality for the sake of neutrality doesn’t really serve us in the age of Trump.” —CNN’s Jim Acosta

BillT 803am - good collected summary Mr Tozer. The Dems' statements, especially by Gillibrand and Warren, again highlight why there is no common ground and why there can never again be common ground with the socialists whose fundamental belief is 'guilty until proven innocent'. Mueller's rogue assertion re 'no exoneration' immediately implies that Mueller has yet to be revealed evidence that Trump is guilty of something indictable, even though Mueller made no claim for the existence of such evidence. By his carefully wordsmithed statement yesterday, Mueller again demonstrated that he is a longstanding, fully paid up member of the Deep State's sleazebag section.

@ 11:14 am
“Does anyone think she even noticed?” Oh, but others are starting to notice, including John Durham. :)
“At a certain point, it can’t be mere coincidence that every major figure involved in probing Trump’s campaign is linked to Hillary Clinton in some manner.”
“Therefore, one would think that incriminating evidence derived from the FBI, NSA, or CIA could have linked Donald Trump to Russian hackers or Kremlin operatives, if that evidence existed. Instead, almost all the major findings used to justify investigations into Trump’s campaign are linked to Hillary Clinton or the Democratic Party.”
“Yet all of these conflicts of interests linked to Clinton, or intelligence linked to Democrats, failed to produce any evidence against Trump. In an article titled “FBI couldn’t prove Trump-Russia collusion before Mueller appointment,” John Solomon explains that Lisa Page admitted the FBI had nothing on Trump even before the Mueller probe:
‘It’s a reflection of us still not knowing,’ Page told Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) when questioned about texts she and Strzok exchanged in May 2017 as Robert Mueller was being named special counsel to take over the Russia investigation.
With that statement, Page acknowledged a momentous fact: After nine months of using some of the most awesome surveillance powers afforded to U.S. intelligence, the FBI still had not made a case connecting Trump or his campaign to Russia’s election meddling.
Page opined further, acknowledging ‘it still existed in the scope of possibility that there would be literally nothing’ to connect Trump and Russia, no matter what Mueller or the FBI did.
‘As far as May of 2017, we still couldn’t answer the question,’ she said at another point.
https://thefederalist.com/2019/05/30/john-durham-needs-investigate-info-generated-mueller-probe-linked-hillary-clinton/
The only point of contention I have with the article is a pretty big one. Contrary to the disinformation that it was the words a drunk George Demetrios Papadopoulos uttered to a member of the Australian Diplomatic Corps (Downer) in a London bar that initiated the counterintelligence investigation into Papadopoulos, the fact is the young Trump volunteer was LURED to London by Western/FBI/CIA assets already in place in Italy and were approaching and buttering up George Papadopoulos BEFORE he went to that London bar.

Iran is engaged in a “campaign” against the United States unlike anything in the past 40 years, the top U.S. officer said, explaining why the Pentagon is dispatching some 900 troops and other assets to the Middle East.
Speaking Wednesday at the Brookings Institution, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford recounted the events that led to his decision. On May 3, Dunford said, he was examining new intelligence on the threat posed by Iran to the United States in the region. He saw “multiple threat streams that were all, perhaps coming together, in time.”
“We saw something that looked more like a campaign than an individual threat,” he said. “It was the geographic span, and the perception that that activity would be synchronized in time that caused us to look at that threat differently than 40 years, by the way, of malign activity by the Iranians. Malign activity and threats to our forces were not new, but a more widespread and almost campaign-like perspective from the Iranians was what we were dealing with.”

PaulE 402pm - Yes, my response would be similar to the one ScottO gave. In Hillary's case it was a raucous crowd chanting their protest to Comey's July 2016 non-indictment speech in which he outlined her clear violations of US Code, and then lamely and erroneously argued her lack of intent. In Trump's case it is the years-long repeated and considered lies by elected officials charging the President (and his family, and his staff) guilty without a shred of evidence to support culpability of anything. I would weigh the careless and gratuitous words of sworn elected officials considerably more than the spontaneous 'wisdom of the crowd' at a political rally. It sounds like perhaps you and yours have a more difficult time apprehending such distinctions.

Yesterday morning I participated in the Lyman Gilmore Flight Day flyover. It was fun... a nice way to spend a Wednesday morning. Get the plane to the ramp, attend the preflight meeting at the admin building at 0900, start the engine at 0945, at 0950 taxi in flight order to wait one's turn to take off starting at 1000. There were 12 planes, one T-6 Texan, a Cessna 340 twin, A Cessna 210 (like a Bonanza but high wings), two Bonanzas (like a C210 only low wings)(including mine), a few RV (homebuilt Vans from a kit), a PA-28 (similar to the Cherokee I crashed with vapor lock 14 years ago) and a lone J5 Piper Cub. Together with the practice flight I made the evening before, I burned 6.5 gallons of FREEDOM 100LL (100 octane low lead) AVGAS to do it. The T-6 and the C340 would have burned more, the others less.

She has already begun to reemerge on the public stage, including with remarks Thursday before an economic club in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she echoed Trump’s recent warnings that socialism threatens the U.S. — a message likely to be a key Trump 2020 campaign theme. Though they have not set a firm date, Haley has spoken with senior adviser Jared Kushner and the president himself about joining him on the campaign trail in 2020, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
“Capitalism is the greatest force for ending poverty and lifting up human beings in history,” Haley said. “America’s dangerous flirtation with socialism is in colleges, in the media and in Congress. We have an obligation to remind everyone that if you care about global poverty, you should support capitalism.” She will also deliver the keynote address at the Susan B. Anthony Foundation’s annual gala on Monday.
“She is one of the few female superstars in the Republican Party and our party needs more conservative women,” said Corry Bliss, a Republican consultant who previously served as the executive director of the Congressional Leadership Fund, the super PAC dedicated to winning Republican House seats. “As far as the base is concerned, she stood with Trump, and that’s all they care about.”

Walt, I'm way ahead of you on that.
For everyone else, AVGAS has to be stable and unlike modern UL pump mogas, it doesn't have alcohols. It does have lead, and that means it will foul spark plugs and get the oil dirty. Don't even think of using synthetic motor oils in four stroke engines, either, as they don't deal with lead deposits well... I think it was Mobil1 that came up with a synthetic aviation motor oil and they ended up buying people new airplane engines before it was yanked off the market. Not good.
It's a grey area to buy AVGAS for garden tools but as long as it is not used for ground vehicles on roads, there's nothing to stop you. It will trash catalytic converters and foul O2 sensors so don't even think about using it in a modern car.
If I had my grandmother's '68 Mustang Fastback 2+2 with a Ford 289 V-8, I'd be tempted to give it some on special occasions... but it would be wrong.
I'm looking forward to 100UL avgas... it's the aviation fuel of the future. Always has been, hopefully that will come to an end. It would be nice to not have the lead to deal with. Actually having O2 sensors to help with setting mixture would be very welcome.
If you come to the airport with a gas can, bring a major credit card. Walk in the gate, it's a 24 hour self serve pump.

George what is your view of this quote from Trump. He's accusing several people of treason no less.
"Asked at a White House event which of his adversaries he had in mind when he accused them of treason, he said, "A number of people. They have unsuccessfully tried to take down the wrong person." He then specified former FBI director James Comey, former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, and former FBI agent Peter Strzok.
"That's treason. They couldn't win the election, and that's what happened."
