George Rebane
Another feather in the Millennials’ intellect. They are having a hard time finding places to live – buy, rent – due to the housing shortage and sky-high rents. The cause, invisible to them and their progressive mentors, is nothing but governments at all levels doing their best to regulate open market housing development down to a politically correct trickle. And these dummies keep voting for Democrats.
Liberalism isn’t what it used to be. We conservetarians have known that for some years now, but things are really hitting the fan when liberal national and local columnists are beginning to notice the Democrats’ rush to socialism, and then starting to practice the organizational rites of collectivists in herding their own. These matters are explained by Michael Blechman in the 21jun19 WSJ and our own Darrell Berkheimer in the 22jun19 Union. Meanwhile the local know-nothing lefties continue their vehement denial that they are goose-stepping to Marxism.
Wind and solar energy costs continue to decrease, but making that electricity cost competitive requires upgrading our power transmission grid with new lines that can take the energy from where it’s generated to far off places where it’s needed. Guess what’s standing in the way of building these power lines? – you guessed it, government. As per one of the most effective Rebane's Rules is still – if society has a problem, government is the cause until proven otherwise. (more here)
Progressives celebrate prohibitive usage of public properties. I had a bit of schadenfreude noting how our leftwingers view the existential takings of public lands from the people by progressive governments implementing Agenda21. These mini-minds admonish those of us complaining of increasing restrictions and costs to use such properties as opposition to the ‘people’s ownership’ of public lands. The designation and then restriction of public properties usage has been the hallmark of socialists cum communists. The Left has never recognized, let alone acknowledged, that you own something only to the extent that you can dispose of it as you wish.
The littlest commie congresscritter is showing her ahm 'intellect' -
This was Philadelphia after an oil refinery exploded this morning,” she said. “So… what’s that about how climate change isn’t an existential crisis that will disproportionately impact working class people & burn its way up?”
“We need a solution on the scale of the crisis: #GreenNewDeal,” she wrote.

No wonder the Dark Lord of Liberal Lament Land is so cranky -
The data found the mass-media industry had the highest unemployment rate at 7.8 percent. The analysis noted the industry has seen layoffs recently and a decrease in career growth.
Coming in second was liberal arts with an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent. The analysis stated those who studied liberal arts may find it difficult to choose a career due to its “broad nature.”
Anthropology came in third with 6.6 percent due to few jobs related to the study, but those who pursue a career in it may want to focus on working at universities or museums.

Re: Liberalism ain’t what it used to be.
Ok, I lied, this isn’t about some new form of liberalism. The proper heading could be “The Great Divide”. You know, the Divide that Dr. Rebane manufactured out of thin air. It’s a right wing conspiracy.
“Even so, the song is proof you don’t have to enroll in a women’s studies course to hear this flavor of leftism treated as the obvious diagnosis to America’s ills anymore: If only we could dethrone the RWSM, we could fulfill Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) dreams. (Never mind that Sanders is an RWSM himself.)
“Kesha ultimately reminds us this is a message that’s here to stay. Assuming she’s speaking for a sizable swath of the Democratic base—and I think she is—Joe Biden might want to tune in.“

BLUE STATE DECLINE
California: Here Be Monsters
J. Frank Bullitt
Before California slips into the ocean after a massive earthquake, as some predicted decades ago that it would, it looks like it will first become America’s very own undeveloped nation.
California has endured its share of Old Testament calamities in the modern world. Yet at times it seems that it will surely succumb to disasters created by its own hand.
There are real monsters loose in the streets. Rats, “an army” of them “millions strong,” reports KOMO News, have “overthrown” Los Angeles. Not long ago, “officials briefly closed part of City Hall after reporting that rodents had invaded the building,” said California Healthline.
“And where there are rats,” says KOMO reporter Eric Johnson, “there is disease.”
Norway rats and roof rats, neither native to California, carry infected fleas and spread typhus, a disease “that ravaged populations in the Middle Ages” and has now “flared” in Los Angeles. There were a record 124 cases there in 2018, according to the California Department of Public Health.
“A medieval disease,” explains Gov. Gavin Newsom. “In California. In 2019.”
Maybe the rats were attracted to the “garbage mountain” that has bloomed in the city and produced quite a few unflattering, but deserving, comments.
Hepatitis A, which is spread through feces, and can be prevented through healthy hygiene and modern sanitation, is also enjoying an afterlife, sickening more than 1,000 in Southern California, which includes San Diego, in the last two years.
It’s been suggested by one physician that the bubonic plague is lurking somewhere in all this.
Native Victor Davis Hanson has designated California as “America’s first Third-World state,” noting in National Review that “Third World” is no longer a “geographical term of the old Cold War” but now “simply denotes poor failed states all over the globe of all races and religions.” That description well fits Los Angeles, the second largest municipality in the country and “the city that gave us the modern freeway system.” Yet today, Hanson reminds us, it resembles “Justinian’s sixth-century Constantinople.”
Vodkapundit Stephen Green has expressed similar thoughts. He believes California is turning into a “Third World Hell Hole.“
“In your typical Third-World megalopolis,” writes Green, “basic city functions fall into disrepair, while once-eradicated diseases run rampant — and the local bigwig boasts about saving the world.
“Los Angeles is quickly becoming a typical Third-World megalopolis,” adds Green, “and the rest of the state isn’t far behind.”

RussS 343pm - Ah, the blessings and fruit of enduring Democrat governance now at a metropolis near you across the country, and if they gain control in DC, these blessings will decorate every corner of the US.
What is amazing to anyone with eyes to see is that the Democrats have demonstrated unambiguously what their ideology and policies do to formerly fruitful cities and communities - they hide neither their means nor the direction they intend to take the country. However, not many such eyes remain in our land.

Good as any place to put this here. Rather long (11 minutes) and not the usual Jordan Peterson delivery or style, but worth it.
