George Rebane
George Boardman writes ‘Trump wants to turn the 4th of July into a political rally’ in the 1jul19 Union. Students of American history know that patriotic holidays, especially the 4th of July, have been used by politicians – incumbents and wannabes – to meld their message within a patriotic mantle. It is the recently educated who have no knowledge of our country’s past, and today are using everything to excoriate Trump. I could have sworn Mr Boardman to be old enough to know better.
Kamala Harris owes her career to being a privileged mulatto – Jamaican father, Indian mother – which in today’s racial labeling allows her to call herself a black - “I am black and I am proud of it.” She has played the black card for advancement all her life, and now she is beating her fellow Democrat presidential candidates over the head with it. And it might even get her the nomination, unless one of her opponents has the courage to tell voters that her claims of having risen through racial discrimination is just politically motivated bull crap.
Bullet buying background checks start today in California. This new law will have no impact on criminals and their use of firearms to commit crimes. But it will further constructively restrict the Second Amendment rights of the state’s law-abiding citizens. And after all, the constructive confiscation of guns is the objective of all socialists, especially those still in denial. The objective has always been to restrict guns to government and criminals, and out of the hands of citizens who might one day choose to revolt as autocracy evolves into tyranny.
[2jul19 update] Under Obama, porous borders admit a dull roar of illegals who are incarcerated with children in separate quarters. Millions are subsequently deported under our immigration laws, Republicans promote border security infrastructure, but do not criticize the stark detention quarters. Under Trump, Democrats issue international invitations to disgruntled foreigners to enter the US illegally with promises of amnesty and citizenship. Millions respond, creating a security and humanitarian crisis at the border. The Democrats refuse to fund either border barriers to slow the flow or increased detention facilities to house the illegals as required by law. Instead, they attack the president and Republicans for “separating families” as our law requires, and having created the crisis by not allowing free access through our border, sufficient welcoming succor at our border, and the unvetted and unconditional release into America’s interior.
Off-topic, but none of the papers in the U.S. paid much attention to it.
They evidently completely missed that in her former life, our gal Steph (Grisham) was a Navy SEAL. She seems to be adept with both the pen & the sword. Way to go Stephanie! Her street cred took a major jump.

According to a January 2019 USA Today article is was more than just being black.
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown addressed his past relationship with Sen. Kamala Harris in a letter to the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday and acknowledged giving her appointments that furthered her career.
"Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago," wrote Brown, who said he had "been peppered with calls from the national media about my 'relationship' with Kamala Harris, particularly since it became obvious that she was going to run for president."
Harris' office did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on Brown's letter to the Chronicle.
Brown was married at the time he and Harris dated, but – because he had been "estranged from his wife" Blanche Brown since 1981, according to People magazine –the relationship was not kept secret. A Sacramento Bee reporter told People that Brown "had a succession of girlfriends" and would "go to a party with his wife on one arm and his girlfriend on the other.”
2020: Harris announces presidential bid on 'Good Morning America'
A 1994 Los Angeles Times report about then-California Assembly Speaker Brown's "rush to hand out patronage jobs" described Harris as Brown's "frequent companion" and said several people referred to her as Brown's girlfriend. That report also cited a column from the Chronicle's Herb Caen that called Harris "the Speaker's new steady." When they met, she was 29 and Brown was 60.
According to Caen, the couple split up in 1995, which "flabbergasted" those "who found Kamala the perfect antidote to whatever playboy tendencies still reside in the mayor-elect's jaunty persona."
Although Brown supported Harris in her successful 2003 run for San Francisco district attorney, she tried to distance herself from him in that race, telling SF Weekly that Brown – whose career was dogged by corruption allegations – was an "albatross hanging around my neck."

Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris is black, as in Black American. She is not an African American in the common usage of the term. While it may seem like splitting hairs, it was not splitting hairs in January and February in 2019 when black social media was questioning her “blackness”. It was an issue raised by some black leaders and black commentators when she went pandering to the likes of Rev Al &Co. to get their endorsements and announce her support for their agenda, aka reparations.
She was forced to answer how a black woman could possibly marry a white man and why she put black people in jail as AG of California. With her immigrant parents’ background of a mother from India and a father from Jamaica, coupled with her high school years in Montreal .....well....her “Blackness” was brought into question...by black America’s who are African America.
Confusing? Not when you consider Identity Politics in 2019. Black American vs African American.
“I’ve been disturbed by how people are using this phase, identity politics, because they use it in a way to basically have you shut up when you’re talking about issues or race, or gender or sexual orientation. ‘Oh, that’s identity politics, you’re playing that card,'” she said, imitating opponents of the trend”
“Here’s my point: Let’s not be shut up when we’re talking about civil rights issues, because the way that we handle and address those issues is a statement about who we are as Americans, and our identity as Americans. The way we treat black people in America is an indication of America’ identity.”
“She then took her argument step further, saying that playing identity politics is necessary to protect the United States from Russia, which she said had tried to “get people off their game” by meddling in the 2016 elections.”
“What the Russians have made very clear, if we weren’t before, is that the issue of race is America’s Achilles’ heel, and it has now become an issue that is not only about civil rights but also an issue that is about national security. How about that? How about that?
As the interview was wrapping up, one of the hosts, Charlamagne Tha God, asked Harris to respond to those who ask: “How is she so black but she married a white guy?”
“Look, I love my husband, and he happened to be the one that I chose to marry, because I love him — and that was that moment in time, and that’s it,” Harris said. “And he loves me.”
https://pluralist.com/kamala-harris-married-a-white-man-it-just-happened/
And it wasn’t just that interview. She had to defend her “blackness” to black hosts on CNN and other grievance outlets.

Wow...
I know that many here are racists and exhibit it daily, but I would have thought you would try to hide your racism a little more carefully.
In a nation that long had laws that identified anyone with one drop of African blood as "negro," and subjected them to all of the legal restriction that went along with it, including limiting voting rights, enforced racial segregation, redlining, and employment discrimination, I think it is hilarious that a Teutonic refugee believes they are qualified to determine who is "black."
This is not 'today's racial labeling" it is the legacy of a nation that defined black in a specific and peculiar way to secure the economic benefits it historically derived from enslaving people and perpetuate a myth of white supremacy.
That Kamala Harris is descended from a back man from Jamaica, where Africans were enslaved to provide free labor for the sugar industry instead of cotton and tobacco, am immigrated to the United States, is really irrelevant. The same is true of her mother, from India, who rejected her arranged marriage back home and stayed in the United States and who rose to be a prominent cancer researcher. Once in the US she was just as "black" under our laws and in people's minds, as her husband was. Once here in the United States they both were subject to the same legacy of racial discrimination and the same restrictive laws every other African American was. That they rose to be a professor of economics at Stanford and successful cancer researcher is simply testament to how misguided those laws were.
And lest we attempt to get some reprieve from the fact that direct Jim Crow laws existed in the south when Mr. & Mrs. Harris came to America, the same laws were de facto enforced here in good old California, for example in the city of Simi Valley which had and enforced racial covenants for homebuyers.
I am wondering just when Kamala Harris decided to "play the black card" to gain political advantage? Was it as a kindergartener when she was bussed? Was it as a young girl when she attended her families predominantly black Baptist church and sang in the choir? Was it as a young woman when she choose to go to Howard University?
When pray tell did her "blackness" to gain political advantage begin? Did she decide at the bus stop at the age of 6, “Hey, I am going to play this black thing to the hilt, I could be President of the United States!”
She will weather all of it….she is a woman…she was a prosecutor…she is not black enough…she is too black…she is cold…she once dated and older man…she is too ambitious…she should smile more, it really would make her look prettier.
You guys take the fucking cake for clueless racist old men.

No, I am not qualified to determine who is 'black', and have never claimed that qualification (another example of a progressive claiming, 'I know what he really means'). But anyone who has observed America's civil society for the last 50 years and still does not admit to the evolution of career advantages for being 'black', has not been paying attention or is terminally ignorant (OK, they can also be purveyors of the leftists' cynical race narrative).
Kamala Harris' bio, especially the aspects cited by SteveF, does not indicate that she had to surmount some racist strictures. Busing both black and white kids was supposed to be an educational benefit, not the punishment about which the Left is now convincing their double dummy constituencies. The same can be said of her singing in a predominantly black church and going to a 'black university'. No one claims that racial prejudice automatically disappeared after 1964, but her choices do indicate that she (as we all) felt more comfortable among people like her. And none of this denies her blackness, but I do reserve the observation that she is playing the black card today in a social environment in which blacks have an historical preponderance of benefits over other racial groups, all other things being equal. Frisch's 822am is just latest edition of his usually simplistic and misdirected progressive screed.

Steve the unWoke.
Me thinks you are jumping the gun.
It was the black community that initially raised the issue. I have been following this on black cites for months about the “African Americans”. Actually, one might say it was her Democrat political opponents (who are African Americans) who were not sure if she was black enough. They did not initially warm up to her. Why did you marry a white man!???!. Why did you put convicted black criminals in prison? Show us your “black” credentials. Thus, Kamala had to prove her blackness to the African American community, lol.
Yes, Jamaicans are those with African heritage, duh. But, walk up to any Jamaican and ask what/who they are and they will say Jamaican, mon. Have you ever heard a Jamaican identify as an African Jamaican? Bob Marley? I have not. Same with Haitians. African-Haitians? Nope. Did like Jimmy Page’s “Momma Africa”. Good song to play horseshoes too.
I remember when Pilipinos where classified as white solely because they did not fit the check boxes for Black or Hispanic,or other boxes at the time. For government purposes, they where white.
Million dollar questions: Steve, do you believe we should bring back busing to active radical equality in public schools?? Do you believe we should build more segregated dorms on college campus...aka....black only?
Heck, Obama on more than one occasion proclaimed he was half white. Of course, that was when he was running for President. He made it a point, along with his white grandparents and white mother. His term ‘half white’, not ours. One could argue that Obama does not qualify for reparations because he does not have one drop of slave blood in him. Michelle does. But who cares.
****The over arching theme above is the end result of Identity Politics is you end up with a group of one. A lonely place to be.
—————————
Fun fact. A ship carrying slaves from a particular warrior tribe in Africa experienced an uprising and the slaves overthrew and killed the crew. That happened at island port in what is known as Jamaica. The warrior is still in their blood, as evidenced by the certain Cartels using Jamaicans as enforcers. Just saying. I hope I don’t have to start saying African Jamaican every time. But, there is a difference between African Americans and Black Americans according to the Woke. Like all dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins. All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. All African Americans are Black Americans, but not all Black Americans are African American.

In a weird related way, Ilhan Omar identifies as a black woman from East Africa, with the emphasis on EAST Africa. Not Africa, but East Africa.
What, POC ain’t good enough anymore? Person of color just a play off of Colored Folks, with the notable exception of throwing in all non-Caucasians...unless one is not referring to the folks from Caucasus known as the Caucasians of Southern Russia.
Getting harder to keep up. Ok, we have blacks, we have Africans, and now we have East Africans. I find this whole Identity Politics rather divisive.
Bottom line. Kamala is black and her daddy did not raise her to smoke any dope. Glad he put it out there that that’s not how she was raised. And what is this about her listening to songs growing up that we not out yet when she was a minor.. Me thinks she is a politician. They all look alike. ).

Harris is a progressive Democrat, it does not matter what color her skin is, it is her brain that is the problem. According to brain scans, liberal progressive brain activity is about the same, very different from conservative bran activity. The liberal color is dull gray with tinges of pink. Some pinker than others.

I recall a late night shtick more than a few years ago (might have been Kimmel, might have been Jay walking) where they asked folk they came across if a quote was from the Dalai Lama, or the Pope. The people chosen for airing almost entirely ascribed the liberal 'woke' quotes to the DL, the mean conservative notions to the Pope.
Brrrraaaaap! Wrong.

Harris speaks. Says she marched in Selma. Just kidding.
“I support busing. Listen, the schools of America are as segregated, if not more segregated, today than when I was in elementary school.
“Where states fail to do their duty to ensure equality of all people and in particular where states create or pass legislation that created inequality, there’s no question that the federal government has a role and a responsibility to step up.
“It’s interesting to hear Harris say that states have a “duty to ensure equality of all people” and that the feds have “a responsibility” to step in if states don’t meet this alleged duty. Was Harris talking about a general obligation to ensure equality of the races? If so, her candidacy is beyond radical.”

Hey everyone…..jeffty is back from Hawaii…..and already in "full whine" mode.
Wonders never cease when it comes to the “pearls of wisdom” ( at least in his mind) that come from local right-wing blogger George Rebane — who also has a weekly slot on the KVMR News Hour, sits on the board of Music in the Mountains, and has helped administer a “tech test” to our area’s high school students. (Also note the spelling error, for a PhD, no less: writing “here” for “her”):
Rebane writes on his blog: “Kamala Harris owes here (sic) career to being a privileged mulatto – Jamaican father, Indian mother – which in today’s racial labeling allows her to call herself a black – ‘I am black and I am proud of it.’ She has played the black card for advancement all her life, and now she is beating her fellow Democrat presidential candidates over the head with it. And it might even get her the nomination, unless one of her opponents has the courage to tell voters that her claims of having risen through racial discrimination is just politically motivated bull crap.”
What hateful words masquerading as “commentary.”
Apparently the local sharks weren't interested in sampling jeffty's attempt at a "Floating Luau".
Good for them!

Harris surges to second in new national poll
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) surged into second place following last week’s Democratic presidential debates, cutting deep into former Vice President Joe Biden’s long-held lead in the primary contest, according to a national poll released Tuesday.
Harris soared to 20 percent in the Quinnipiac poll, while Biden fell to 22 percent among Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters. That’s a significant change from a Quinnipiac poll released last month that showed Biden leading the pack with 30 percent and Harris lingering in a distant fourth place with 7 percent support.
The Quinnipiac University survey is the latest in recent days to show Harris riding a wave of new support following her standout performance in Thursday’s debate.

The 60’s are calling and they want their angry Black Woman back.
MLK or Malcolm X? Decisions, decisions. Let’s go with Malcolm X!
“None of this race stuff makes sense to me because I was born in the South in 1959 – Charlotte, North Carolina – and, as a little kid, I was raised under the putrid odor of Jim Crow. Back then, you didn’t need a microscope to hunt for microaggressions unseen by the naked eye. Racial oppression was legal. Racial oppression was normalized. Racial oppression was everywhere!
“I vividly remember local civil rights leaders plotting strategy in our living room and watching news reports of black marchers, locked arm in arm, singing “We Shall Overcome” with Dr. King. Even as a kid, the scene brought tears to my eyes because these people, singing from deep within their souls, were fighting a real oppression – enforced by law – against impossible odds.”
“Americans of all colors are getting sick of all the yap about racism that’s taking the country backward for no good reason. Needlessly creating racial division tramples on the graves of countless blacks and whites who gave up their livelihoods and blood to fuse the fragile bond between the races. Their blood made that bond sacred. It’s now up to us to build on what they died to create.”

Lifted from the Sandbox and put here...more on topic of undermining America.
“Holton said government sources on both sides of the gap estimated that 35,000 were in the pipeline. The majority appear to be Cameroonians, Congolese and Ghanaians, the largest numbers of those migrants he has ever seen and who now appear to outnumber the traditional fare of Haitians and Cubans. Every migrant he interviewed said they'd flown into visa-free Ecuador and caught buses or rides to the Colombia-Panama frontier, where they'll hook up with Darien Gap smugglers. He met and saw many from India and spoke to Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, which U.S. homeland security regards as "special interest aliens" who could pose terrorism threats.
“The harbor master at Turbo told Holton the growth in traffic of Africans and Middle Easterners was rapid and surprising, and close to overwhelming the town’s ability to move them. Holton said he saw no one from the Middle East but did see and talk to some Pakistanis who had come in after landing in Brazil.
“While the Turbo harbor master may have expressed surprise at this migration surge, Holton is not. Media throughout Latin America constantly reports on the most minute details of how and why migrants are able to slip through the American border gauntlet, certainly usable as an instruction manual. For years, Holton said he’s seen CNN running "these infomericals" explaining the process of getting into the United States. "It provides lists of cities that will welcome you with open arms, things like that,” said Holton, who lives in Panama and travels the region extensively.”

As I have said before, the Democrats' anti-American plan for undermining the economic well-being and sovereignty of our country extends their invitation worldwide for ALL disaffected peoples to enter the US illegally through our southern border. I continue to invite criticism of this assessment from our leftwing readers - so far, crickets.

Say - what are the latest numbers in Kalifornia on ammo sales? Even the New Zealand gun owners have had enough.

When even the NZ gun owners act like Idahoans, you better believe the left have over-played their hand.
