Illegal alien who committed local crimes sued because he was turned over to ICE after he finished his jail sentence because of a Department of Homeland Security detainer request. The case was thrown out of court.

“When local jurisdictions refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, they create de facto sanctuaries for criminals like Francisco Guardado Rios. It makes no more sense to release those aliens back into the community than it would make sense to release a convicted criminal who is a U.S. citizen, but who is wanted in another state or by federal authorities.

“For Sheriff Scott Jenkins, job no. 1 is safeguarding the citizens of Culpepper County. Providing sanctuary to criminal illegal aliens isn’t in the job description.”

Its the economy stupid. Are the socialist dems trying to talk us into a recession? Your bet your ass. The old yield curve inversion never was in a world where 1st world countries had negative bond rates so its not the same now. We buy most of what we make. -

The good data included better than expected retail sales, stronger than expected survey results on the manufacturing sector from the New York and Philadelphia Federal Reserve banks, and better than expected productivity gains. Industrial production numbers disappointed but much of that appeared to be due to Boeing’s problems.

“The U.S. consumer cannot rescue the world but it can insulate the U.S. economy from the world’s problems,” Mohamed El-Erian, chief economic adviser at Allianz, said in an interview on CNBC Thursday.

The results of the socialist Soros's millions to radical social justice DA candidates! -

McSwain blamed Krasner for fostering what he called an environment of "disrespect for law enforcement" that emboldened the gunman to open fire at officers from the Philadelphia Police Department's Narcotics Strike Force who were attempting to serve a warrant in the Nicetown neighborhood.

"Where does such disrespect come from?" McSwain said. "It started with chants at the DA's victory party- chants of 'F--- the police' and 'No good cops in a racist system.'
McSwain called Krasner's rhetoric "the worst kinds of slander against law enforcement," and added, "the DA routinely calls police and prosecutors corrupt and racist, even 'war criminals' that he compares to Nazis."

Hmmm. Come to think of it, the poem written on the Statue of Liberty does not apply to Europeans no more. Remember when the unhinged mental midgets went stark raving mad when Trump said we should have more merit based educated immigrants like Norwegians welcomed to our country? Oh boy, the mental midgets became unglued on these boards. They blew their tops. No Europeans! Racism! No Y-Ts.

Well, since only about 1,000 Norwegians immigrate here a year lately, it seems that we have shut them off. In fact, if one is from Eastern Europe OR Europe in general, you get put at the back of the line. Way back in the line and only a trickle are allowed in. The Dems really really hate Western Civilization to the max, more so with each passing day.
*Note: Think it is best to put aside the issue if Scandinavia or Greece are considered “European” for this discussion. No Europeans in 2019! They be bad people and don’t share our values.

In fact, one could argue that Norwegians and other groups from Europe are not welcome here anymore. No way, Jose.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-norway-trump-20180113-story.html

“The native New Yorker of Portuguese Sephardic Jewish descent penned the sonnet for an auction raising funds for Lady Liberty’s pedestal and her words are enshrined on a plaque. Lazarus was well-known for her work with Eastern European Jewish refugees, addressing racism and anti-Semitism.
Ms. Lazarus, a wealthy fourth-generation American, devoted herself to settling THESE immigrants in New York,

Emma Lazarus was born in New York City, July 22, 1849 into a large Sephardic Jewish family. She was the fourth of seven children of Moses Lazarus, a wealthy Jewish merchant and sugar refiner, and Esther Nathan. One of her great-grandfathers on the Lazarus side was from Germany (Holy Crap!), the rest of her Lazarus and Nathan ancestors were originally from Portugal and resident in New York long before the American Revolution, being among the original twenty-three Portuguese Jews who arrived in New Amsterdam fleeing the Inquisition from their settlement of Recife, Brazil. Lazarus's great-great-grandmother on her mother's side, Grace Seixas Nathan (born in New York in 1752) was also a poet. Lazarus was related through her mother to Benjamin N. Cardozo, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Her siblings included sisters Josephine, Sarah, Mary, Emma, Agnes and Annie, and a brother, Frank.

Privately educated by tutors from an early age, she studied American and British literature as well as several languages, including German, French, and Italian. She was attracted in youth to poetry, writing her first lyrics when eleven years old. OMG, she read Western Civ!

No Europeans! They be the oppressors, OMG!!

Well, I figured by now some old Hippy would mention that 50 years ago today was the first day of the Woodstock Music Festival. But, noooo. Now, I would be the first to say that not all of that crowd went on the be worthless drags on society. Many went on to be great upstanding citizens and contributed to society in innumerable ways. Others never put down that bong and are still sucking on it to this hour. With the intro out of the way..

A point to intersectionality: The Woodstock generation at that time AND the conservatives and inalienable rights crowd today, as back then, fiercely and passionately strongly believed in individual rights and individualism. Do you own thing. Don’t tread on me. A healthy skepticism of government and for good reason. “The man will come and take you away.” Guess the big 50 year anniversary music fest petered out.

"That’s the type of question that might have been asked in committee hearings when the bill was considered, except that there were no committee hearings and there was no bill, not in the regular legislative process. Instead, this law was enacted as a budget trailer bill."

PaulE 228pm - Paul, since AOC has literally no or negligible financial support from her constituents, and so few people voted her into office, and that her overwhelming support has come from some outside organizations, therefore is it reasonable to think that she is a 'political machine' candidate funded and handled by like-minded ultra-left organizations??

I respond:

What else is new? Are you shocked that support for elected officials comes from "outside organizations"? How is that different than the NRA and the Koch brothers, for example, who dump millions into political campaigns and expect results. Do you propose that AOC should be removed from office by some means other than the ballot box?

Acquiring Greenland - what a great idea. If the deal requires Denmark to remain joint owner, that's also great. The main proviso should be that Denmark gets to benefit from developing the island's resources, but has only an advisory capacity in determining how/when those resources are developed. Right now it is a major piece of Earth's fallow real estate. Humans should do something with it besides measuring the ebb and flow of its glaciers for political purposes.

Middle of the road types like Paul and Crabby eat this shit up like ice cream.

Re: the sonnet,
Didn’t want to post this a couple of days or so ago. I decided to wait til Steve and Punchy had a meltdown and let them spin like a top first. I decided correctly.

“This image of a destitute newcomer may seem in conflict with Cuccinelli’s self-sufficient immigrant. Is there a discrepancy in America’s immigration ethos? Are Lady Liberty’s words a reachable reality or a utopia? The answer typically depends on which side of the aisle you stand.

“The first ideal says it is the government’s humanitarian duty to welcome all poor seeking refuge in the United States. All who come to our borders deserve to be wrapped with taxpayer-funded welfare blankets, no matter how bankrupt our systems are. These ideals are espoused by the left.

“The second ideal is rooted in right-wing ideals of small government. It is not the government’s job to provide housing vouchers and Medicaid for everyone. The government’s first priority is to American citizens, and immigration policies and border controls are for our protection. We welcome immigrants here seeking the freedom that requires them to govern and provide for themselves.

“One reporter asked in the press conference, “Why shouldn’t the Latino community feel targeted by this?”

“This is 140-year-old legal structure,” Cuccinelli said. “We’re dealing with the most recent iteration of it, but this is not new… There’s no reason for any particular group to feel like this is targeting them.”

“America cannot save the world from all suffering. Americans cannot afford to support welfare for any person in the world who gets here and then demands it. That does not change the spirit of our immigration laws that welcomes those made poor and needy by totalitarian governments that take wealth from some and redistribute it to others in currently politically favored groups.

“We have a long history of being one of the most welcoming nations in the world on a lot of bases, whether you be an asylee, whether you be coming here to join your family, or immigrating yourself,” Cuccinelli said. “I do not think by any means, we’re ready to take anything off the Statue of Liberty.”

Scott O

"Making the most lethal firearms easier to obtain than a drink at a bar, well, that’s what’s crazy."
Bars are licensed money making operations. They know they have to toe the line with the law or have their license revoked. People selling guns out of the trunk of their car could care less. Technically, he is correct, but for the wrong reason. It's not because of a lack of laws but because some folks don't obey the law.
Straight from a bullshitter - "A right doesn’t mean license for anyone for any reason to buy up any firearm and as many as a heart could possibly desire."
The man should be fired from the office of any newspaper for crap like this.
Rogers is taking the 1st A to cover his ass for a straight out lie. What he is implying is a lie and he knows it.
"We don’t need to rip up the Constitution, though we could apply a more intelligent interpretation of the 2nd Amendment than we have in our modern era, inflamed by the National Rifle Association’s grip on Republican politicians and judges, just a fact."
Besides the fact that the above sentence would get an F in any English class, I would love to hear this chicken shit little half wit explain just why we should start to 'reinterpret' the Bill Of Rights.
"Guns that spray bullets enough to kill a dozen people in seconds are not needed for sport or the personal protection they presume to provide."
The 2nd A is not about 'sport' but Rogers is on a roll and thinks he can BS his audience. As far as personal protection, how in the world does this man know all the instances of 'personal protection' that can occur? How many KKK need to be gunned down by a frightened African American protecting his family? Rogers dismisses this as "not needed".
Well. OK, then.
It gets even worse - "A permit similar to a driving license, with similar conditions, only makes sense."
So - after murdering your mother and stealing her gun, Rogers suggests that it would be a good idea to stop by and get a permit before murdering some school children.
One has to wonder at the mind of such a person writing this stuff.
"The data is there. The models, too. The path is reasonably clear."
Ah, I see - the 'path' is reasonably clear.
Get a license - THEN go and murder folks.
Gotcha.

Scott O

And yes, I'm aware of the gaffe Rogers made about "the most lethal firearms". Rogers hasn't got a clue about firearms. Heck - he hasn't got a clue, period.
Look at his photo. He appears to be a person trying to remember his own name.

The problem with a godless political party is it does not believe in a power greater than itself.

Daily Quotes. The first one rang especially true this happy evening.

“One of the most dishonest little tricks the media pulls is when they ask someone a weird and irrelevant question, get an answer, and then report the answer as if it was a point made entirely unprompted.” —Matt Walsh

For the record: “There’s no doubt that President Trump is not a racist. The facts are very simple that the same folks that voted for me voted for President Trump because President Trump made promises to the voters and he’s keeping the promises. … The more you use the concept of racism, the more we grow ‘ism fatigue’ in this country, and that is a terrible place for us to be. And so the greatest threat by overusing racism is that when there is an actual challenge, you cried wolf in the wilderness one time too many.” —Sen. Tim Scott

Braying Jenny: “I think we should ban assault weapons as well as large magazines, and as part of passing that ban do a buyback program across the country so that those who own them can be compensated for their money that they spent. … You don’t want people to retain them because if you make them illegal, you don’t want to grandfather in all the assault weapons that are all across America. … If you are arrested for using an assault weapon, you’re going to have an aggravated felony [charge].” —Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand

Non sequitur: “[Our] society … has surrendered basic freedoms. Freedom from violence. Freedom from gunfire. Freedom to live without this kind of constant cortisol in the back of your brain being released that undermines our quality of life. We are losing our well-being as a nation because so many of these guns now are on our streets, so easily gotten by people who intend to do massive amounts of harm.” —Sen. Cory Booker (*The Second Amendment is the palladium of liberties.)

Never let a crisis go to waste: “Our officers deserve to be protected and they don’t deserve to be shot at by a guy for hours with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets. It’s disgusting and we have to do something about it.” —Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney

Braying Jackass: “We all want to invest in building our democracy and saving it from any enemies, foreign and domestic. We’ve sent our legislation to the Senate. Moscow Mitch says that he is the Grim Reaper. Imagine describing yourself as the Grim Reaper, that he’s going to bury all this legislation.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. [Whoa.Bill sez correction! It’s not Moscow Mitch, it’s Moscow Murderer Mitch to you, Botox Queen.]

What could possibly go wrong? “I would be honored to be considered [as a veep] by any nominee.” —Stacey Abrams

From the New York Times. Trump is in uncharted territory.

"There are not many traditions of decorum that President Trump has not trampled on since entering the White House. But to put at risk, so cynically, America’s special relationship with Israel solely to titillate the bigots in his base, to lean so crassly on a foreign leader to punish his own political adversaries, to demonstrate so foul a lack of respect for the most elemental democratic principles, is new territory even for him."

Joe Biden; is an elderly man running for president on the democrat ticket. He is long known for being gaffe prone and having impulse control issues and is now being very tightly controlled by the handlers in his campaign. These are symptoms of senescence, a form of age related mental illness.

You have, on numerous occasions stated that you think Trump is mentally ill. That this mental illness is, as you say, "a danger to the nation and the planet".

If mental illness in any form is disqualifying to the presidency, are you willing to go on the record here at Rebanes and state that Joe Biden should abandon his pursuit of the presidency.

In my view Biden is not mentally ill. If he's as feeble as you claim it;s ironic that he holds a 12 point lead in the fox polls over Trump. What do you make of that?

If he's as feeble as you claim it;s ironic that he holds a 12 point lead in the fox polls.....

Trump has had positive poll numbers (ask me how I know) and yet you claim he's mentally ill. You claim he's a threat to the nation. You claim he's a threat to the planet. Really no trouble at all for the Biden machine to keep a desperately flawed and increasingly disturbed Grampa Joe out of the limelite lest his "difficulties" come to light.

Why does his campaign feel compelled to keep him from speaking at public events Punch?

@ 10:08 am

The headline yesterday was Warren packs them in. Big crowd. 700, which is huge for a Democrat in Iowa or New Hampshire. Trump shows up and breaks the attendance record held by Elton John. Reminds me of 2016 when the popinjays were pooh-poohing Trump, his low poll numbers, his unfavorables, and lest we forget, crowd size don’t mean anything....as he was breaking arena records held by ZZ Top and others.

Now, crowd size don’t mean anything, but he sure packs them just in to hear a guy talk. No Bruce Springsteen, no hip hop stars, just a man and a microphone....smashing records with thousands outside watching on big screens. One man with a little podium. Go figure.

Shades of 2016. Well, at least Trump is ahead of all Dems in South Carolina. That is one state. Maybe Trump can pick up another state. Looks like a long shot, but maybe Trump can pick up three states by Labor Day after the next Labor Day.
It’ all goes by the Electoral College. No wonder the Leftinistas want to elimate the Electoral College, the US Senate, stack the Supreme Court, and redo the Constitution. They don’t care much for America.

Trump can sleep well tonight. All the excitement is on the Right, on the sunny side of the street. All the Left has is Trump voters are racists, all 60 million of them. At least that puts me in good company and they are a pleasant fun crowd to be hanging around with. All the haters have is gloom and doom. Guess they have figured out it is easier to atrrack flys with honey than vinegar.

I keep waiting for the Dems to come up with some realistic ideas. Nah, just joking. They have no ideas, no joy, no gratitude, just a bunch of old liberal angry white guys filled with self loathing.

One state at a time. In 2016, when Trump went from 1 in 5 chance, to 1 in 4 to 1 in 3 chance, I began feeling pretty good. Real good.

So, that where Don Rogers got the idea which led to him losing his ever lovin’ mind.

The BIG Lie: “It’s harder to get cold pills than an AR-15. Something needs to change.” —David Hogg

Listen to the children! I miss piglet.

And more quotes:

Food for thought: “How many of the people who ‘can’t afford’ to pay for their own birth control, which they claim is a basic health necessity, also have subscriptions to Netflix? I’d like to take a look at that graph.” —Matt Walsh

Friendly fire: “I just don’t think we should be rooting for a recession, because that’s not good for America.” —MSNBC’s Richard Stengel

Still inaccurate: “What matters was a man [Michael Brown] was shot, an unarmed man, in the middle of the street, by police officers and left to die. And I think that’s where our focus should be.” —Sen. Elizabeth Warren, whose recent “murdered by a white police officer” lie, along with Sen. Kamala Harris’s, was glossed over by PolitiFact

Demo-gogues: “We have a racism in American that is as old as America itself. … But we have always tried, until now, to change that, until this president.” —Beto O'Rourke

Annals of the absurd: “We must as a country buy [‘assault’] weapons [and] take them off the streets altogether.” —Beto O'Rourke

Never let a crisis go to waste: “Our officers need help. … They need help with gun control. They need help with keeping these weapons out of these people’s hands. This government, on the federal and state level, don’t want to do anything about getting these guns off the street and getting them out of the hands of criminals. … And if the state and federal government doesn’t want to stand up to the NRA and some other folks, then let us police ourselves.” —Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (“On Kenney’s watch, Philadelphia has been plagued with gun violence. The homicide rate is the highest it has been in over a decade; in 2018, the rate increased 11 percent from the previous year. Kenney, and most other liberals advocating gun control, are ignoring the facts: The overwhelming majority of gun-related crimes are committed by people who own guns illegally. Crafting legislation that affects legal owners will have no impact on this.” —National Review’s Christopher Tremoglie)

Non Compos Mentis: “It is an affront that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, under pressure from President Trump, would deny entry to representatives of the U.S. government. Trump’s Muslim ban is what Israel is implementing, this time against two duly elected Members of Congress.” —Rep. Ilhan Omar

And last… “Israeli law forbids entry to any non-citizen who ‘knowingly issues a public call for boycotting Israel.’ What Omar and Tlaib (and their media cheerleaders and anti-Semitic supporters) were demanding was special treatment that violated Israeli’s own laws.” —Sean Davis

As the Tlbiab turns. Omar unleaded!!!! Question? Why to the school districts that dump the most money per pupil always end up in the shithole stats? Why are the worse places for black to live always run by race baiting hustler, frauds, phonies, and charlatans.?

“It goes on and on. There is much more. Omar says she is doing her “job as [a member] of Congress” by endlessly haranguing Israel. But many wonder whether there are conditions closer to home to which she should turn her attention. A local news outlet headlined yesterday: “Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District Listed As Worst District For Black Americans To Live.”

“Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, represented by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, was listed this week as the worst congressional district in the country for black Americans.

“The financial website 24/7 Wall Street compiled a list of the 30 worst districts for black Americans by using data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Specifically, the list-makers honed in on metrics like median-household income, homeownership, unemployment, poverty, and educational achievement.

“The numbers produce a stark picture of the 5th Congressional District, which encompasses Minneapolis and several surrounding suburbs.

“Will Congresswoman Omar turn her attention to the status of her fellow African-Americans in her own Congressional district, or will she continue to prioritize her obsessive anti-Israel crusade? I’m guessing the latter.”

“You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Obama told Biden before the 76-year-old formally launched his campaign in April, according to the New York Times.

The Times states Obama huddled with top Biden aides in March to implore they insure that the former vice president does not “damage his legacy” or “embarrass himself.”

The newspaper further reports Obama and Biden met over lunch last, where the former president urged the White House hopeful to recruit fresher faces to his campaign. “He has communicated his frustration that Mr. Biden’s closest advisers are too old and out of touch with the current political climate — urging him to include more younger aides,” the Times said.

Matt Walsh disavows The Daily Wire!

“This week, the heroes at Media Matters released a stunning exposé about the website you are currently reading. In a report subtly titled "The Daily Wire Is A Cesspool Of Bigotry And Hatred," Media Matters sifts through seven months' worth of podcasts to highlight the most egregious statements made by Michael Knowles, Andrew Klavan, and this author.”

“Having watched the video and read the report, I am aghast and stunned by the horrific bigotry of my co-workers and myself.

“The comments highlighted by Media Matters truly shock the conscience. For example, in reference to the blackface scandal involving Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, Michael is Knowles claims that Northam's support for killing infant children after they are born is morally worse than the insensitive costume he wore decades ago. Knowles should realize that killing babies cannot be morally worse than anything because babies have no value. Obviously, we would all agree that, say, destroying endangered sea turtle eggs or shooting a bald eagle would be morally abominable and possibly even worse than blackface, but the execution of an infant child does not rise anywhere near that level of severity. Knowles' failure to understand this basic truth is unacceptable and inexcusable.

“In another clip, Michael Knowles is documented claiming that pedophilia is being "normalized" in our culture. This, again, is an outrageous statement with no basis in reality whatsoever. Just because young boys are dancing in drag at gay bars and posing with nude men doesn't mean pedophilia is being normalized. Rather, we are normalizing sexually charged interactions between prepubescent children and grown adults, which is completely different from pedophilia for reasons that GLAAD can surely explain.

“Andrew Klavan, who seemed to get the most screen time in the hate montage, makes a number of wildly bigoted statements. For instance, he observes that men are attracted to the female body. I can't quite figure out how to be offended by that remark but I trust that there must be a reason, so I will be offended by default. In one especially misogynistic outburst, Klavan claims that feminism has given women the false idea that their opinions matter because they're women. Klavan seems to be arguing that all opinions should be judged not on gendered grounds but on the actual merits of the opinions themselves. That, at least, is one way to interpret it. The other way to interpret it is that Andrew Klavan hates all women and wishes they would die. Media Matters urges the latter interpretation, and I'm afraid I must agree. Elsewhere, Klavan calls Somalia a "hellscape." This is appalling. Somalia is a lovely country and I plan to vacation there with my family this fall.......

“I likewise regret saying that some of the women who made MeToo accusations were "also culpable." At the time, I thought that perhaps some of the actresses who chose to sleep with Hollywood producers in order to get film roles are at least somewhat responsible for their actions and probably shouldn't have used sex as a tool for career advancement. I now see that women can never be held accountable for anything. Women are strong, independent, competent, and not responsible for their own behavior.

“There are many other offensive remarks included in the compilation. I am so filled with disgust at myself and the other hosts that I can't continue writing about it. The tears are flowing onto my keyboard as I type. Everyone at Starbucks is staring at me. Let me close by saying this: I disavow The Daily Wire and everyone who works here. I don't disavow the paychecks, to be clear. I still like those. The paychecks didn't do anything wrong, so it would be inappropriate to penalize them. I should also stipulate that I will continue working here and saying all of the same kinds of things I've said all along. But just know that in my head and in my heart I stand in solidarity with Media Matters. I hear them. I believe them. I appreciate them.”

https://www.dailywire.com/news/50382/walsh-i-disavow-daily-wire-matt-walsh

I, a local Nevada County deplorable dreg of society bitter clinger feels much regret for posting Daily Wire links and now see the errors of my ways. Well, it is kinda pointless to point out the flaws of Joe Biden, but sometimes I lack the self discipline to rise above and take the high road. With my own faults ever before me, I am still eternally grateful that we are not like him.

“Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden is hopping around Iowa these days on one foot — the other being permanently lodged in his mouth. Poor guy can’t get through a speech without slandering someone, slurring a people or simply saying something incredibly stupid.

“Still, Mr. Biden’s support in polls nearly doubles his next-nearest rivals. The rest of the endless Democratic field is 30 points behind him. You know your party is in trouble when “Joe Biden” is the best it’s got.”

Polls, polls

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/08/16/poll-half-of-hispanic-americans-approve-of-trump-following-ice-raids/?

Is it just me, but has anyone else noticed that every single time Trump’s favorables among blacks (and Hispanic Americans to a lesser degree) inch up, the nation is immediately showered with a 24/7 barrage of “Trump is a racist” non stop carpet bombing for days until the numbers dip back down. Then, sure as day follows night, the parrots of the Enemy of the People wave new poll numbers in air with glee. Every single time. Too many examples to post....just something I have been acutely aware of.

Another quasi related example goes back to the Obama years. I would read of Border Patrol agents being ordered to unlock pedestrian gates at night at crossings, new influxes of illegals crossing the border, hordes of Mexican unaccompanied children telling ICE they were from Central America....then the Obama Administration would make the news with a roundup of illegals somewhere. Every time the negative news of lax enforcement of the border hit, as sure as day follows night, Obama would do a symbolic raid on some place or some group and then it all would die down and get back to status quo. When things began to get out of hand, Obama himself used the pulpit to tell non Mexican Nationals to not try to come, it’s too dangerous, it’s a humanitarian crisis. Not safe. Then, everything would go back to normal. It was as if negative press was driving these symbolic gestures.

I have noticed the same thing with Trumps numbers among blacks. Every single time they inch up, the torrent of hate Trump is unleashed. I remember a stunned Jorge Ramos looking at the numbers post- Election 2016 and was dumbfounded that 31%-32% of the Hispanics voted for Trump. He remarked they (the media) had not done their job. They need to do a better job educating the Hispanics and other minority groups.

When the Popinjay or the other unbalanced detractors leave here with their departing jabs that we are just a tiny handful of Circle of Jerks, few in number and out of the mainstream, I remind myself that we few little insignificant outcasts were joined by over 60 million voters in 2016. Suddenly, despite all the attempts to persuade me otherwise, I am not alone wandering in the wilderness.

Miftah’s sponsorship of the Omar-Tlaib trip and the stated intent of the two congresswomen to promote a boycott of Israel, coupled with the new law barring visits promoting boycotts, provide ample justification for Israel’s decision to keep the two out. Indeed, Israel might want to rethink allowing visits sponsored by Miftah, boycotts aside. Arguably, Israel owes that much to the victims of the terrorists Miftah celebrates.

Israel, though, is a liberal democracy. It tolerates a great deal of venom from those who want to destroy the Jewish state.

But its tolerance has limits. Omar and Tlaib exceeded them.
——————————-
From David French, NR

“First, the group actually published blood libel, posting an article that accused “the Jews [of using] the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.” When pro-Israel bloggers condemned the article, Miftah first claimed that the attacks against the piece were part of a “smear campaign” and minimized the reference to blood libel as merely “briefly addressed.”

Bill sez: Sound familiar? Every time Omar is asked a question that might expose her relationships to her brother, those that advocate to destruction of Israel, her dubious marriages, tax filings, possible immigration fraud, and her views on female multination, she always says it’s “a smear campaign”. Anyway,
let’s continue:

“But that’s not all, not by a long shot. The group celebrates terrorists, including an evil woman who helped murder 13 Israeli children. In an article titled “Let Us Honor Our Own,” a Miftah contributor describes Dalal Al Mughrabi as “a Palestinian fighter who was killed during a military operation against Israel in 1978” and as one of the Palestinian people’s “national heroes.”

“The so-called “military operation” is more widely known as the “Coastal Road Massacre,” a bus hijacking that resulted in the deaths of 38 Israeli civilians, including 13 children.

“Al Mughrabi is hardly the only terrorist Miftah celebrates. It described female suicide bomber Wafa Idrees as the “the beginning of a string of Palestinian women dedicated to sacrificing their lives for the cause.” It singles out for recognition Hanadi Jaradat, a woman who blew herself up in a restaurant, killing 21 people (including four children).

“The founder of Miftah herself, Ms. Ashrawi, excused jihadist violence by telling an interviewer that “you cannot somehow adopt the language of either the international community or the occupier by describing anybody who resists as terrorist.”

“And of course Miftah published an article asking whether Israel was a proper homeland for the Jewish people:

“I can keep going, but the evidence above should be sufficient to establish the truth. It would and should be a national scandal if GOP congressmen intended to partner with white nationalists during a visit overseas. It should be a national scandal that members of the American government intended to partner with vicious anti-Semites on their own propaganda tour.

“After its thunderous denunciations of Bibi Netanyahu and Donald Trump, will pundits, editorial boards, and reporters take a look at the scandal hiding in plain sight? Will they hold Tlaib and Omar accountable for their vile associations? Now is a good time to demonstrate their commitment to reporting on the full context of international disputes and exposing one of the world’s oldest hatreds. We shall see how they respond.”

Andrew McCarthy weighs in

While this rhetoric is abrasive in the Trumpian style, Israel’s exclusion of Omar and Tlaib makes eminent sense. Since when must a country, particularly one that daily confronts a terrorism challenge the likes of which we have never experienced, roll out the red carpet for aliens who mean it harm and encourage its enemies?

Naturally, because the alliance of Islamists and leftists calls the tune to which our media-Democrat complex dances, we are enduring gaseous denunciations from official Washington. Progressive groups are echoing Omar’s latest blather about how the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “insult[ed] democratic values” (as if a nation’s survival were not a democratic value). Despite this precious sensitivity about insults, Omar could not help herself but add that President Trump is an “Islamophobe.” That term, shrewdly developed by sharia supremacists, intimates that critical examination of Islam – particularly, its doctrinal calls for jihad against non-believers – is racist.
