A distinction without a difference. Here is a ditty from Forbes from Election Day

"The wealthiest Commander-in-Chief in American history will be exempt from conflict of interest statutes and most prohibitions against gifts (as are all U.S. presidents and vice presidents), so nothing stops Trump from maintaining the status quo and running his business from the White House. He’ll have to file a Federal Elections Committee disclosure document annually, which lists his assets and income. Tax returns, which Trump has steadfastly refused to release, do not have to be made available to the publi"

The [point is conflicts and as you might be able to read if you were not so stupid, Trump is exempt.

J. Barron

Todd- 8:21

What does this have anything to do with your statement "Trump placed his assets in a blind trust"?

Fact is, he didn't. Establishing a blind trust is a very specific legal action. I'm pretty sure you have no idea what a blind trust is. Jabber talking out your blowhole again.

Trump exhaustion? Depends how one looks at it. VDH

“But these are not normal times. There is (for now) no longer a Democratic Party. Instead, it is a revolutionary Jacobin movement that believes socialism is our salvation, that identity politics is our creed, that gun confiscation is our duty, that the abrupt end of fossil fuels is coming very soon, that open borders is our new demography, and that the archetypical unmarried, childless, urban hipster is our model woke citizen.

“For more than two years, Hillary Clinton—via Fusion GPS, Perkins Coie, the DNC, and Christopher Steele—attempted to destroy the Trump campaign. Later the Justice Department, FBI, and CIA took up her cause and sought to sabotage the Trump transition and presidency, in a near coup attempt. I cannot remember a moment in U.S. history when a presidential candidate conspired with the intelligence community of the lame-duck administration of the same party to destroy a presidential rival.

“Robert Mueller forever discredited the idea of a special counsel, given his unprofessionalism, bias, and apparent incompetence that ate up 22 months of the Trump presidency. Even in the crude post-1960s, we have never seen anything like the current assassination rhetoric of Hollywood celebrities and the boasts of doing bodily harm to the president by his political opponents.

“No president—not LBJ, not JFK, not Bill Clinton—in his first term has had his prior 50 years, his family, his lifestyle, his businesses and his friends so exhaustively explored for any morsel of impeachable material.

“Is it any wonder, Trump, to his own occasional detriment, obsesses with “fake news” and believes that every minor tit requires a major Trump tat?

“So far more wearisome than Trump’s tweets are three years of unethical and likely illegal attempts to remove an elected president, to so warp our culture that 90 percent of media coverage is anti-Trump and dozens of grandees in the entertainment, sports, and media industries have so often publicly wished to assassinate, beat up, or otherwise physically injure the president of the United States.

“After all that, the strange thing is not that Trump can be occasionally wearisome, but that he is even still breathing.”

Upright: “To this very moment slavery continues in parts of Africa and the Islamic world. Very little noise is made about it by those who denounce the slavery of the past in the West, because there is no money to be made denouncing it and no political advantages to be gained.” —Thomas Sowell

The BIG Lie I: “We have more African Americans under criminal supervision today than all the slaves in 1850.” —Sen. Cory Booker

The BIG Lie II: “[Gun confiscation] is something that we’re able to do through the Commerce Clause… So this is constitutionally sound.” —Beto O'Rourke

Friendly fire: “If you want to throw 149 million people off of their insurance — and that’s the Sanders/Warren bill … well, then I’m not your candidate because I don’t think you should be throwing people off their current insurance in four years. If you want to have a $16 trillion plan in a $20 trillion economy, I’m not your candidate.” —Sen. Amy Klobuchar

Victimitis: “It’s important for us to make sure that we are not forgetting the aftermath of 9/11, [when] many Americans found themselves now having their civil rights stripped from them, and so what I was speaking to was that as a Muslim, not only was I suffering as an American who was attacked on that day, but the next day I woke up as my fellow Americans were now treating me as suspect.” —Rep. Ilhan Omar responding to criticism of her “some people did something” remarks about 9/11 by claiming extra special victim status

Braying jenny: “I certainly hope that the people of Israel make a different decision. And my hope is that they recognize that [Benjamin Netanyahu’s] existence, his policies, his rhetoric really is contradictory to the peace that we are all hoping that that region receives and receives soon. … I think what is really important is for people to understand that you have to give people the opportunity to seek the kind of justice they want in a peaceful way. And I think the opportunity to boycott, divest, sanction is the kind of pressure that leads to that peaceful process.” —Ilhan Omar

Stranger than fiction: “I’m only controversial because people seem to want the controversy.” —Ilhan Omar

Jumping the gun: “I sat through those hearings. Brett Kavanaugh lied to the U.S. Senate and most importantly to the American people. He was put on the Court through a sham process and his place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice. He must be impeached.” —Sen. Kamala Harris

And last… “Always, always remember that the people jumping on every absurd and transparently fabricated Kavanaugh allegation are mostly the same exact people who to this day will not even listen to Juanita Broaddrick’s very credible story about Bill Clinton. re BillT's 942am - What continues to amaze and frustrate me is that there is no outcry against leftwing prosecutors who accept a person as guilty with only unsupported allegations as 'evidence'. What law school did they graduate from, and why are they not pulled from office for obvious malfeasance as officers of the court? The same goes, of course, for rightwing prosecutors that are equally prominent and candidates for high office.

Yawn.

In Surprise 5-4 Ruling, Supreme Court Holds That Second Amendment Requires Mandatory Gun Ownership

“Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts outlined the surprising thought process behind this startling sledgehammer of jurisprudence.

“The Second Amendment,” said Roberts, “says that ‘a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’ Well, I think it’s pretty clearly implied here that, if Obamacare can force you to buy insurance, then militia membership – which is, Constitutionally, ‘necessary’ – can force you to buy a gun. It’s like getting vaccine inoculations: if everyone is immunized, then everyone is safe. But the more people don’t get shots, the more likely an outbreak of deadly disease. In the case of guns, that disease is criminals. If everyone has a gun, criminals get eradicated like smallpox. Also, if everyone is exercising their right, then by definition, no one’s right is being infringed. This is the only way to truly guarantee this particular constitutional protection for every citizen.”

“Liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dissented, pointing out that Roberts’ faulty reasoning in the Obamacare case – even though she agreed with it at the time for political reasons – could not be used to do things to REDUCE the power and control of the federal government before mumbling something about “my pancreas” and falling asleep.“

Bet you have a noose hanging in your back yard 24 / 7 just in case you find a guilty person wandering around.

George Rebane

The evidence about Hillary’s crimes is abundant for an indictment (admitted unlawful sharing and exposing classified information, and operating an illegal email server for government business for openers). The decision not to indict her is political and not legal. Many people have been indicted, convicted, and are serving time for doing less. And none of this means that I want her locked up without due process. It’s the due process that has been omitted through political corruption. All this has been discussed ad nauseum in these pages, debated in the national media, and published, with citations, in books.

But their comments add unprecedented context to their father’s creation, shedding new light on his intentions and adding firepower to the effort to ban weapons like the AR-15. The comments could also bolster a groundbreaking new lawsuit, which argues that the weapon is a tool of war — never intended for civilians.

Eugene Stoner would have agreed, his family said. (Translation: We really have no idea what he would have thought about this but we are really getting tired of fielding constant flak from senile old dingbats like Full Metal Diaper and hope that this statement will mollify them so they will stop showing up at the house unannounced)

The ex-Marine and "avid sportsman, hunter and skeet shooter" never used his invention for sport. He also never kept it around the house for personal defense. In fact, he never even owned one.

I'm sure he never did. It was a more genteel time for firearms owners and their preferences when Stoner was still alive.

But remember…..the AR15 never really caught fire with the public until Handgun Control Incorporated put the full court press on handguns and their owners. Suddenly it was….ironically…... less hassle to own an AR or AK than a pistol. Much like Trump in the White House progressives have no one to blame but themselves regarding these rifles. (oooooh….shocked face that something else progressives involved themselves with turned to shit!)

Another ruling against compelled speech. Arizona case. Good reasoning behind decision. Short article.

“Ultimately, the City’s analysis is based on the flawed assumption that Plaintiffs’ custom wedding invitations are fungible products, like a hamburger or a pair of shoes. They are not. Plaintiffs do not sell “identical” invitations to anyone; every custom invitation is different and unique. For each invitation, Duka and Koski create different celebratory messages, paintings and drawings; they also personally write, in calligraphy or custom hand-lettering, the names of the specific bride and groom who are getting married. In short, Plaintiffs do not create the same wedding invitation for any couple, regardless of whether the wedding involves a man and a woman or a same-sex couple.

“A well-crafted court opinion is an educational document. It can and often should not only persuade the precise legal reasoning at issue but also the justifications for the legal rules it applies. The court’s words are compelling:

“Duka and Koski’s beliefs about same-sex marriage may seem old-fashioned, or even offensive to some. But the guarantees of free speech and freedom of religion are not only for those who are deemed sufficiently enlightened, advanced, or progressive. They are for everyone. After all, while our own ideas may be popular today, they may not be tomorrow.”

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/arizona-supreme-court-upholds-free-speech-religious-freedom/

The court quoted the Supreme Court of the United State’s seminal opinion in West Virginia v. Barnette, and it’s worth quoting here as well:

“As governmental pressure toward unity becomes greater, so strife becomes more bitter as to whose unity it shall be. . . . . Ultimate futility of such attempts to compel coherence is the lesson of every such effort from the Roman drive to stamp out Christianity as a disturber of its pagan unity, the Inquisition, as a means to religious and dynastic unity, the Siberian exiles as a means to Russian unity, down to the fast failing efforts of our present totalitarian enemies. Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.“

"The spy thing was all Obama era." No, it was Bush, Trump pardoned Libby.

Just last week Trump released a photo of the Iranian launch site that pissed off Intelligence to no end. Military "experts" figured it was a relatively close drone with a sensitive camera. But no, it was from a spy satellite up in space with the kind of lens that we didn't want anyone in the world to know about and shit for brains Trump gave it to Fox news!!!

His inability to keep a secret, or even know what is a secret is has become routine. Maybe if he would sit still long enough to hear the entire briefing he'd know better. He has probably been kept in the dark more than any modern president because the military can't trust him not to tweet the next secret.

“As far as exposing classified info didn't trump recently out a deep spy in Russia?”

No, that story has been debunked. Trump was not even POTUS then. Itt was an Obama concern that the Fakenews NYT and Wa Compost tried to pin on Trump.

As far as Libby goes, he was never charged for outing the CIA desk jockey Plume. It was State that told Novak about the CIA chair warmer. Special Counsel Livingston knew that his very first week on the job, but went on a fishing expedition to get Cheney and Bush. Livingston is currently Comey’s defense lawyer....for trying to take out Trump.

It’s a rotten smelly Swamp for sure.

Damn are the trolls here are ignorant and the most vacant one is at 409. Conflating issues and being ignorant or just not willing to drop the already failed cnn narrative especially one that jeopardized a mans life by identifying him.

The President is the ultimate authority on classification and can authorize the public release just like JFK did on the soviet nukes in cuba braniac.

The conversation on removing the spy was started in 2015 by team 0 and went into action in 2016 pre Trump, facts are such a buzzkill for talking points for lefties.

https://www.bizpacreview.com/2019/09/10/cnn-hit-by-cia-over-spy-removal-story-simply-false-822916

However, the CIA is not the only one effectively calling CNN out on the story. A New York Times piece on the story directly contradicts CNN. The Times says that the decision was made before Trump was even in office. If true, that would be a glaring contradiction for CNN and would reinforce criticism of the network as relentlessly anti-Trump.

The Times reported that it was media coverage that led the CIA to move to extract the spy and that “media scrutiny of the agency’s sources alone was the impetus for the extraction.” The timing however is the most key element. The Times is reporting that the decision was made in 2016 — before Trump took office. The spy reportedly refused the request but was later prevailed upon to leave.

NBC reported on the identity the person living in the United States. A NBC reporter knocked on his door outside of Washington and was met by security. Given Putin’s tendency to kill dissidents and critics, the man’s life is clearly at risk.

I always liked Bob Bextel as a person. Candid and honest at times. Apple did not fall far from the tree.. Ok, give Mom the credit.

“Moreover, according to Alex Beckel, the son of Mrs. Keyser and her ex-husband, former Fox News personality and ardent Democrat Bob Beckel, Keyser was pressured by Blasey Ford allies to lie during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings about the incident.

"Nearly a year after Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, most have moved on. But for one of the key players in that fight, Leland Keyser, the struggle continues," a GoFundMe account set up for Mrs. Keyser by her son reads.

"Despite her lifelong friendship with Christine Blasey Ford and her opposition to Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, Keyser resisted immense personal pressure and courageously came forward with the truth, putting everything in her life at risk," the GoFundMe post continues. "As a result, she faces great personal hardship. The harsh glare of the public eye has taken a tremendous physical, emotional, and financial toll on her."

“Leland stood up and did what was right when she had everything to lose and nothing to gain," the post added.

Actually, it turned out that Ivanka and Jared did not violate any govt protocols with their email handling - this was confirmed with Team Nadler deciding not to waste any bandwidth on dredging that up to support his drive for impeachment.

And for those not familiar with the classified materials handling code, the President always has the final say in what is and isn't classified, and he has the power to do that peremptorily if he so desires - no further application or approvals are needed. Now the political ramifications of presidential treatment of heretofore classified materials are another matter altogether, as you are proving.

Leana Wen: Planned Parenthood Is Trying to ‘Buy My Silence’

“Leana Wen, who was president of Planned Parenthood until the organization fired her in July, alleged the abortion provider is trying to "buy" her silence, according to a document obtained by the New York Times.

Wen, who held the position for only eight months, attempted to turn Planned Parenthood's focus more toward becoming a "national health care organization" during her brief tenure. The move was not well-received, and Wen was soon ousted after she was deemed not "political" enough for the organization.

Now, in a 1,400-word letter addressed to Planned Parenthood’s board of directors, Wen alleges the organization is withholding her health insurance and severance package as a "ransom" until she signs a confidentiality agreement, the Times reports.

"No amount of money can ever buy my integrity and my commitment to the patients I serve," Wen wrote.

Yup, The Russians made the "O"bummer administration their bitch.
https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2019/09/16/report-russia-penetrated-fbi-communications-throughout-obama-years/
"A report published by Yahoo News on Monday described a “brazen Russian counterintelligence operation that stretched from the Bay Area to the heart of the nation’s capital” during the presidency of Barack Obama. The operation penetrated FBI communications to a “stunning” degree, according to officials quoted in the story, but was misunderstood and downplayed by the intelligence community and the Obama administration, which was ostentatiously attempting to “reset” relations with Russia when the operation began."

Deborah is good people. She is very smart and very politically savvy. That race for supervisor will be fun to watch especially with all the campaign fodder produce by Hall over the past three years.

Paul Emery

Looks like Hardy Bullock is Richard Anderson's guy Todd. He was Anderson's Planning Commisioner. Here's his announcement statement on Facebook:

"Richard Anderson has faithfully served our Community in District 5 with productive excellence. I know Supervisor Anderson will continue to greatly contribute to our County and Community. Based on my work as Supervisor Anderson's appointed County Planning Commissioner, and my lifelong passion for Nevada County, I'm proud to announce my candidacy for the Board of Supervisors Race 2020.""

Barry Pruett

Richard did a good job. He seemed very independent and assertive. He seems like a good guy. We should thank him for his service.

Paul Emery

I agree Barry. Has Ed Scofield announced yet if he's going to run in District 2 ?

Barry Pruett

Not that I know of. Ed is another good guy. Honest Ed. Lol

Californians: Don’t go there.

“California announced last week that it has added Iowa to the list of states on its ever-expanding "travel ban" list because of that state's new prohibition against funding gender-transition surgeries under Medicaid.

“Becerra's authority came from a 2016 California law signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown that bars state-funded travel to other states that undercut LGBT rights. The blacklist already included Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.”

Hey, Morgan Freeman lives in Mississippi.

HI Barry, Hope you and yours continue to do so great! Amazing kids!! Yes, Ed has announced he is holding his seat at his BBQ recently. I think Deborah Wilder can absolutely will bring a very strong campaign to Dist 1 with a wide base of support and having been a Mayor of an important SF suburb she has real world cred.

I have found in my experience that Supervisor Anderson is a very reasonable and rational leader who was about the issue and who has had a good understanding of the neighborhoods and the impacts on them. I look forward to his next year and a half as well as his input on the upcoming Dist 5 race. He is a good man with values and it pleasure to work with him.

"You really are an ignorant moron troll. Obama put those kids in cages and his admin did the spy crap. But you trolls have TDS and drunks so maybe I'll give you a break. Same for MMM. Morons all."

You talk like my 4 year old grandson and that is nothing to joke about. Your verbal syntax and sentence structure are at a 1st grade level; you are one creepy guy documented for the world to see.

II smell a perv in old man flaking skin and curled toenails. Your sheets must be gross.

Thanks Don! Life is good. Same to you brother

Ed is a good man. Deborah was mayor of Foster City yes?

Trump is of course referring to the RR contributor who goes by the name fish.

It’s funny how our local liberal pundit tries to make every non-partisan election partisan. Does anyone think it’s relevant that the current district one supervisor got her DUI while leaving a democrat Central committee function? That sounds kind of partisan to me. That also sounds like something newsworthy that should be reported as well right ? 😉

@ 6:22 pm

If memory serves me correctly, wasn’t the ‘Put Ivanka and Jared in Jail’ e-mail scandal about Ivanka and Jared using their personal e-mail devices during the transition and briefly for a few weeks into the new Administration before they started using the .gov address? Boy, Nadler wanted their campaign e-mails, transition e-mails, phone records, and a heck of a lot more, lol. A heck of a lot more.

Equating the above with Hillary’s predetermined decision to set up a private server for the sole purpose of conducting her business for the Clinton Foundation and State Department work to shield herself from the FICA....compare that to the new Administration’s chaotic start is a whole different ball of wax. Apples and Oranges.

Funny, if the State Department had an IG like every other Department had, then maybe the IG could have spotted Hillary’s violations earlier and saved here the grief.
Odd, the State Department did not fill the IG vacancy during Hillary’s entire time as Sec of State. An IG could have saved Grandma all that energy smashing devices with a hammer that contain e-mails subpoenaed by Congress with an order to preserve. She would not have had to Bleach Bit those records either.
Heck, nobody knew of the private server (besides Obama and friends) until the Benghazi hearing. What, there are zero records of communications between Hillary and Ambassador Chris Stevens? Odd.

Then Obama came out and said Hillary did not intent to violate any laws, sending a Big Message to Comey and AG Lynch to put the brakes on. Squash the “matter”. Make itgo away. They did. Talk about obstruction of justice.

Yep, the Unhinged have been demanding all Trump family members’ heads on a platter. Roberta Maddow and Joy and Morning Joe want to see the Trump kids led away in handcuffs with a CNN news-crew just happen to be there. Lock them all up! Hate them all! To Devil’s Island with them.

Don Bessee

Hi Barry, My lovely Ellen sends her love to your crew too!

Kim and you have raised the most amazing daughters. Blessings

Yes Deborah Wilder was a vey successful mayor.

I had a screen shot sent to me that has the Dark Lord of Liberal Lament Land sniveling about Ms. Wilders qualifications. Paaleasee!

She is a very successful national law firm owner who was elected on policy in wealthy liberal west coast city. Sweet!!

OK LIBS you can start bitching now... Trump ain't signing....
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/09/16/report-trump-will-not-support-universal-background-check-bill/

And THIS is all it says.
"This bill establishes new background check requirements for firearm transfers between private parties (i.e., unlicensed individuals).

Specifically, it prohibits a firearm transfer between private parties unless a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer first takes possession of the firearm to conduct a background check.

The prohibition does not apply to certain firearm transfers, such as a gift between spouses in good faith."

Just like what we have here in Kalif.

Maybe one of the Proggy "experts" here can tell us just how well it works here. Has it stopped one lowlife scumbag from getting a gun? Did it stop jiggered one's buddy from getting that shotgun?

Gregory

I believe here in Kali you can give your spouse a gun but have 30 days to file the paperwork with the state documenting the transfer.

What is very clear is that Pelline and the rest of Hall's supporters will make the District One race as nasty as possible. It is his and their MO. Whoever runs against Deborah Wilder will have their hands full. She is brilliant and will be very well-funded. Having been involved locally in politics in the past, the knock on Deborah from highly conservative (sometimes too much so) folks is that she is a moderate. In my view, she is an independent like Richard Anderson and Dan Miller and Ed Scofield who will not tow the party line but who will come to rational conclusions based upon the evidence presented. On the other hand, the current supervisor in district one is a true believer in progressive ideology with her sights on something larger than Nevada County. You can see that readily from her activities and who donates to her campaign. Of course, Deborah will run an issue based campaign but look to the supporters of Hall (like Pelline) to go low and try to make this a partisan race. It is vile, but it is also all to common place as the true believers move into our sleepy rural town and attempt to San Francisco our wonderful Nevada County. all you have to do is look around the Brunswick Basin...

Emery seems to have lost it again. How the necjk did FISH get a mention in my post and Trump as well?

The supervisor was always non=partisan until the democrats got into it in the 90's. Now all they do is partisan.

Odd.. folks on this blog are constantly going off about "San Francisco values" invading our community for the worse....yet they support the former mayor of a Bay Area town Foster City. Somewhere there is a disconnect between rhyme and reason or is it just a partisan thing?

George Rebane

RobertC 933am - As the purveyor of the new and improved logic in these pages Mr Cross, I think it's up to you to connect the dots of your implied argument - specifically, what does having been the mayor of a down-peninsula town then, have to do with the horrible culture and values SF promotes and has on display today?

Very astute observation. I was pondering the last few days if our society is having a collective stress disorder mental breakdown or just a collective nervous breakdown.
