Works for me. Off to the gun shop at first chance.

Gregory

Newsom is doing exactly what he said he'd do.

There'll be an election in three years; I'd suggest keeping your powder dry in the meantime.

Robert Cross

Just what has Newsom done that is so bad..especially compared to the goombah crook trump? This is just a gun freak's folly to deflect your brains away from what a disaster trump is. Carry on boys, I hope this folly makes you all feel better about your political choices in the face of impeachment. Question: How many of you will take up arms when trump loses and declares the election to be some kind of fraud?

George Rebane

RobertC 939am - Comparisons are moot, and not in your favor when compared to Trump's accomplishments on the federal level that have given us this economy. Here's a start on Newsom's atrocious legislative record.
https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article236204218.html

For a more complete litany on this disastrous governor, just google 'bills signed by governor newsom'. Many of his disasters, including his schools bill and AB5 redefining consultants, have been extensively covered in these pages.

You saw the debate last night?

Not going to necessary Bertie......

Todd Juvinall

The fact that Newsome stayed the executions of child killers and rapists and serial killers is good enough for me. And now he has diverted a billion dollars of our gas tax money to other things add more reasons. Much more commie crap. And did you hear him respond to the PGand E blackouts? Total pussy.

Robert Cross

"Trump's accomplishments on the federal level that have given us this economy." So do a few bucks more in people's pockets make up for crimes and misdemeanors? More money, mostly for the already wealthy, is the only thing good that has happened. What about the total loss of confidence in America's world leadership role. What about the ongoing attempts to defy the rule of law in an effort to coverup said crimes and misdemeanors? What about the trillions if new debt? Red righties focus on money issues serves the purpose of deflecting public attention away from the plethora of corruption that came along with it.

note to fishy: try making some sense or is that beyond your troll persona?

Gregory

Bobbi 939am prefers his political masturbations (the fantasy of finally overturning the lawful election of Nov '16) to the more local GOP fantasy of stopping Newsom in his first year in office.

The guncontrol issue will be settled as far as it can be settled in Federal courts... three cheers for Cocaine Mitch for cranking out those judicial appointments in the Senate.

Robert Cross | 16 October 2019 at 11:33 AM

I suggest you drive down Broad Street and Mill Street and others in our two towns. You will see the results of Trump's tax cuts and those little dollars people got. Lots of remodels and new businesses spending money./ If you doubt the money is not getting here than you are more of a moron than I thought.

Gregory

The Trump phone call to the comedian-in-chief of Ukraine was OK in my book. It was not an invitation to meddle in US elections, it was a request for an investigation into past corruption by two guys named Biden within Ukraine.

Apparently, Ukraine had already started this on their own.

Besides this, Dems got nothing. And this is nothing.

I want to hear more Quid Pro Joe stories.

Robert Cross

George-- I read your link.. so what? What you fail to recognize/acknowledge is that your POV is out of line with the vast majority of Californians which is why republicans are a joke. You can bitch and moan all you want, which is your right, however what you characterize as disastrous is welcome news for most Californians.

I read that article this morning and thought to myself, "Newsom is doing exactly what we elected him to do." Then to come here and see your hate filled screed made me laugh out loud. Your denial of the position you stake in California politics is laughable. This blog is a tiny, angry, foot stomping, little red speck in a sea of blue. The next steps will bargaining, depression, then acceptance of the fact that you have been wrong for so long.

fish

.....hate filled screed!

That’s the weakest “hate filled screed” I’ve ever seen! But I sometimes forget that your brain swims in a sea of female hormones!

There, there....there, there!

Gregory

"This blog is a tiny, angry, foot stomping, little red speck in a sea of blue."

Jiggy Wiggy 1229pm

And yet, here you are!

In Nevada County as of this past January, there were
26 thousand Dems, Greens and P&F registrants
25 thousand GOP and AIP registrants
900 Libertarians
and about 18 thousand "I'm not going to tell you anything" registrants.

It would seem you're a jiggling bit of tiny foot stomping Blue in sea of Purple.

Jig Wiggly

Nice Gregory. How about you post the stats on our elected officials, R vs D? How big was Newsom's win? How bigly was Trump's loss in California? THOSE are the numbers that count.

George Rebane

To Cross and Jiggly - Then we all wonder, what has changed the state so that companies and middle-class taxpayers are leaving for less rapacious climes, and the indigent population is climbing through the roof??? (according to the Census Bureau of the Dept of Commerce).

All of this demographic dynamics, of course, support your observation that my views are "out of line with the vast majority of Californians" (guilty as charged!!), and that Newsom is doing what you all elected him to do (again, correctamundo!!). Crediting you worthies for the state of our state has been a major thesis of RR - rejoice!

Jig Wiggly

GR-
But what about Todd's 11:57? I see businesses reinvesting in a state and an economy that is booming. Todd gives Trump the credit, but if that were so, why aren't we seeing the same thing in all states?

Gregory

Jeff 159pm, all politics is local. I thought you knew that.

Yes, Dems now own Sacramento, 'frisco and LA, having grown like Topsy since Jerry Brown V1.0 gave public employee union bargaining rights over pay and pensions; Dems dominated the monetizing of that flow of cash into their pockets.

This too shall pass. In fact, with AGW winding down as a national issue, in 2022, there may be a resurgence of GOP and/or Libertarians in California.

George Rebane

Gregory 222pm - From your mouth to God's ear ;-)

Gregory

George, I'd not wager more than 40 Quatloos on the resurgence of GOP or Libs in the short term, but with us in year 1 of the Zharkova Minimum, and an expectation of food shortages by year 10 (that's 2028 for those who can't even count on their fingers)... sooner than later, folks mortgaging our future to stop CO2 growth will be losing elections.

Jig Wiggly

Gregory
Join the long, long, long list of soothsayers who have predicted great famines and world wide food shortages.

Funny guy!

No predictions of major famines, here, Jeff. Just a few years of shortages... imagine winter wheat going byebye for four years... I can't imagine the mindless followers of young Ms. Thunberg reconciling the end of the world as we know it from heat with it being cool and overcast more than it used to be.

I also shudder to think how Greta T. will handle the realization she'd been lied to since she was 8.

Robert Cross

George 2:10 --
"the indigent population is climbing through the roof"

The increase in indigents is due to several factors. First, California has the third highest per capita number of homeless people behind New York and Hawaii. One common reason for indigent people coming to CA is weather. The likelihood of freezing to death in CA is less that other states. California is home to four of the top ten cities for homelessness in the country: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and San Jose; all on the coast where freezing temperatures are uncommon. The myth that people come to CA for the welfare is just that, a myth. California is not even in the top ten states in per capita spending on welfare.

"middle-class taxpayers are leaving for less rapacious climes,"

Although state income taxes in CA are the highest in the nation property taxes rank 32nd. Lack of affordable housing and the high cost of living are the most common reasons cited as to why people leave the state. Middle class earning power is the same as it was in 1978, but not the cost of living. What cost one dollar in 1978 now costs $3.85. So people are making the same money but having to pay almost four times as much for goods and services. Buying a house, once a middle standard is now out of reach for many. The median income in CA is half of the amount required to purchase the median priced home.

As for businesses leaving the reason is simple, the mandate for continued growth and increased profits make other states more lucrative especially when large companies can pit states against each other for the best tax deals. The often cited 'over regulation' is just another way of saying not enough profit. CA has some of the most stringent environmental and pollution laws in the country because that is what the majority of people want: clean air and clean water. If people wanted less regulation they would vote for republicans, but they don't.

People are leaving CA because they can't afford to live here. The problem is why can't they afford it. Just where does the rapaciousness come from, the government of CA or the growing income inequity that makes CA unaffordable for the less than affluent?

Walt

Yup, Kick the somebitch out. He left Frisco a shithole, now working to make the state an even bigger sewer. More homeless than ever, more attacks on the 2ND, HELL! you don't even need to even commit a crime for the gun grabbers to come knocking.
Protect all the illegals, no matter the crime.

George Rebane

RobertC 445pm - Thank you Mr Cross. What remains a puzzle to you (and your data) is perfectly clear to California's emigrants, and that includes the cause of the housing shortage (both the laughable 'affordable' type and the market driven 'low cost' kind). With the corroboration of your excellent comment, I rest my case.

Walt

Oh... Speaking of housing shortage, Gavin Nuisance and the LIBS thought it was good idea to raise the cost of building a house.
Yup,, that's going to help plenty.
You can't even convert a CONEX container into a livable space at a reasonable cost.

George Rebane

I should specifically address the light thinking that went into Mr Cross' 445pm on California’s welfare spending. Make no mistake, California spends the most in the nation on welfare, $98.5B annually (NY comes in next at $65.6B). The reason that CA’s per capita spending is so low, in spite of being home to a third of the nation’s welfare recipients, is that the state is in financial straits and cannot afford to add as much to the federal welfare dollars as most other states – this is contrary to the fake news that our state is in a fine financial fettle. Therefore, given the state’s large populations of both the self-sufficient and the indigents, the numerate among us who do fractions also understand why the per capita number is so low. The obvious and very visible result of this is that our urban streets are filled with the thousands of abandoned homeless who fill their living areas with used needles and feces. The progressives celebrate such a state of affairs simply by denying it, since it destroys their narrative of their perpetually beneficial Democrat governments and their stifling public policies. The evidence to the contrary can be seen and smelled all over the state.

Bill Tozer

“People are leaving CA because they can't afford to live here. The problem is why can't they afford it. Just where does the rapaciousness come from, the government of CA or the growing income inequity that makes CA unaffordable for the less than affluent?” ——-Roberta

Regulations drive up home prices and regulations drive businesses and residents out. A burden on one’s shoulders actually can be felt when CA is in your rear view mirror. I know, I experienced it just a few days ago.

CA has always been a magnet for the poor because of its generous welfare benefits. For the last 30-40 years it’s been that way. High state taxes, burdensome regulations, high sales taxes, highest gasoline prices in the USA also make it unaffordable for the working poor to get to work.

I just came back from a state where there is no state income tax. The person I visited (Ca born and raised, 2nd generation) wanted me to visit and sent me a plane ticket. While there, I met several contemporaries, one couple from Yuba City. All said the same thing: It was the best decision they ever made. They never have been happier in their lives and it showed. And I have never seen clearer stores, from Starbucks to Costco to Raley’s to the streets of towns and cities. The only one Californian they talked about as an example of what’s wrong with CA was a woman from Laguna Beach., lol. Flaming Lib, but everyone else was happy and very contented.

The Stupid Liberals want to stop fossil fuel extraction....which is the reason for no state income tax. Coal and oil extraction pays the State so much, no need for state taxes, lol. Libs think tthey can reinvent the wheel....by eliminating no state sales tax. Idiots.

Air and water is clean. Get this: My host left CA in May, bought a home, and at least once a week (maybe twice) he gets unsolicited calls from unknown realtors in Denver and CA asking if he wants to sell his home! Folks are fleeing Denver cause it’s been Californiaized as well as Californias desperately wanting to leave. As previously mentioned, I have never meet a group of people nicer and more hospitable and friendlier in my life outside of parts of the south. Very relaxed, even the Californias. My host was relaxed and so grateful he made the right decision. The weight of the regulations are off his shoulders and individual liberties blossomed. It is a perfect fit for him and his wife, as well as the other Californians I met....except the complaining Flaming Lib who nobody likes.

Scott O

From the Cross One 4:45 - "People are leaving CA because they can't afford to live here."
Yes that is true for many. But to make that a blanket statement is ridiculous. My wife and I could have very well afforded to remain in Cali. As could every single person I know that left and are now living in other states. Our standard of living here is higher than that possible in Cali, but we could have remained.
The single biggest reason for my wanting to leave (reluctantly - we're 4th and 5th gen Californians and love the climate and natural beauty) is the steady course set by the Dems to ignore common sense, the law, and the Constitution of our country. The latest money grab by Gavin is another in a series of completely illegal actions of the state govt. The so-called HSR is one of the most expensive cons one can ever imagine.
Transferring money from special funds to the general fund and refusing to repay - even after a judge ordered the repayment should have landed someone in prison. The "fire fee" was the awakening I needed to realize it was going to hell and not coming back. Despite being a tax, it was re-classified as a 'fee' due to the Dems being unable to garner the necessary votes for a tax. The wealthy Dems in many fire prone areas that use the services of Cal Fire on a regular basis were spared while the less affluent conservative rural areas were dunned.
Even Bobby swerves into one of the problems, yet is so blinded by hatred and ignorance can not see the obvious problem.
"Just where does the rapaciousness come from, the government of CA or the growing income inequity that makes CA unaffordable for the less than affluent?"
California is becoming almost completely dominated by the Dems and as he himself admits is also becoming more and more stratified in living quality. The more leftward it tilts, the more inequality it has. His answer is an even more leftward direction. Keep it up, Bobby.
California is becoming a madhouse. Even if I had a 6 figure income, I would have left. The thought of my tax money supporting insanity would not settle lightly on my soul.
Anyone who harbors thoughts (hopes?) of California ever pulling itself out of the cesspool it's sinking into is mistaken. Folks like Bobby are proof.

Gregory

Spare change?

Bill Tozer

Everybody likes clean air and clean water. Never met anyone in my life who likes dirty air and dirty water. The CA carbon tax is a non starter and because it is so, money has to be found elsewhere to cover the projected shortages. More money needed! Grab your wallets.

I like clean water, clean air, AND clean soI.. Apparently, the Lefty Eco-Nazis do not like the latter. What are we going to do with all that toxic waste? Send it to China? Bury it in the ground to contaminate our earth? Not very dirt worshipping of our Enlightened Betters.
I almost drove over to Casper, WY to visit the one and only designated place in the US for dumping wind turbine blades on the ground. Time constraints prevented the outing. But, what to do with those millions of toxic panels? Boy, that will create a lot of Government Green Jobs at $15.00/ hour. AOC would be pleased and can stop crying because she cannot bring children into this world on this planet as is. A grand idea. Hire Libs (with bennies and government pensions) to clean up the mess Libs created. Sounds soooo Califorication to me. Crazy Caifornication now require those toxic compounds on every new house, lol.

You make a perfectly lucid and cogent argument wasted on idiots. Thank you for your input.

They can stew in their manifold ignorance and defiance. Let them, California continues to lead the way and there is no way, shape, or form they can deny it. George sees Alabama or Georgia as the godsend of America - yet he stays put. Actions speak louder than words and when these rednecks keep telling us what a shithole they are forced to live in, we can only laugh. They have the power to move, yet California is too good for them to act on their words. It's like "I have a toothache, but I don't like dentists so I'll live with my toothache and bitch and moan about it".

Let them roll in the wet shithole they call home.

Walt

Triggered jiggered rides again.
No guts to say where you got that Leftist crap from?
Your LIBS are turning Ca. into a third world shithole, and your happy to take that sewer pipe ride right along with them.

Gregory

Yes, Wiggy Jiggy 858pm, someone is batshit crazy but we won't come to an agreement who the sane are... at least in the next year or three.

I was born in California and I like it here. I'll like it even more when you eaten your fill of crow.

In the meantime, there's shit on selected streets in 'frisco and LA.

Scott O

from the Jiggly one - "California continues to lead the way and there is no way, shape, or form they can deny it."
Yes it certainly does. And we not only do not deny it, we point it out.
Highest in poverty, highest in economic inequality, highest in wasted funds on boondoggles. One of the highest in taxes, and one of the few states losing middle class folks and producers.
And soon will be joining Illinois as one of the most bankrupt states.
Enjoy.

Defiance is the sin that sticks in the craw of the wannabe opinion dictator.

Doug LaMalfa was booted from the democrat impeachment inquiry room today. Paul Emery and Jiggy=pooh, do you have a defense of the democrats?

Newsome is a dangerous person. No wonder Kimberly divorced his ass.

Doug LaMalfa was booted from the democrat impeachment inquiry room today.

GOOd.. he has no right to be there. He is the second non-committee member republican who has tried to crash the proceedings. The Repub.'s have people on those committees. Morons like LaMalfa need to abide by the rules and stay out.

Don Bessee

Transparency much @728. Oh you slayed it with that comedy bit at the end, 'abide by the rules' that's rich!

Todd 10:31
LaMalfa was given the boot because he was in the wrong room. He wasn't invited by either the pubbers or the dems. Figured he would just waltz in. Knows nothing about protocol.

Are you going to pay him another $2,500. to get your picture taken with him? You do know he doesn't remember your name. It is an easy one to forget.

Todd Juvinall

Jig Wiggly | 17 October 2019 at 08:02 PM
Oh Jeffie you are just a moron. LaMalfa is ou Congressman yet you would prefer who? Castro of Cuba? You just are not smart but you are predictably assinine. Fish has you pegged.

My $2,500 was a great investment. A good conservative Republican against your commies. And Doug and I are quite good friends.. You can't even get into jail here, no one likes you even the cons.

Don Bessee

The jiggly ones propensity for saying ignorant things rages on, you might think he was fakenews or something he does it so much.

Doug LaMalfa knows Todd well and I have seen him greet Todd by name many times at events over the years.

,,,oh, here we go again,,, let's toss the new governor out,,, and the pubbers are soooo upset and confused as to why most Americans want Trump tossed out...What a hoot!

Yawn,,,Gavin Derangement Syndrome strikes again.

Next we will be hearing about the State of Jefferson push again.

And '''Trump's accomplishments on the federal level that have given us this economy'''? Trump inherited an expanding economy along with his daddy's money.

By that accounting method Bill Clinton was one of the greatest Presidents,,,and pubbers tried to kick him out as well!!!

Bessie must have been cheering Clinton constantly as the DJA climbed.

'''Clinton’s major contribution was pushing through the 1993 budget bill, which began to reduce what had become a chronic string of federal deficits. Republicans denounced it as the “largest tax increase in history,” though in fact it was not a record and also contained some cuts in projected spending. Republican Rep. Newt Gingrich predicted: “The tax increase will kill jobs and lead to a recession, and the recession will force people off of work and onto unemployment and will actually increase the deficit.” But just the opposite happened. Fears of inflation waned and interest rates fell, making money cheaper to borrow for homes, cars and investment. What had been a slow economic recovery turned into a roaring boom, bringing in so much unanticipated tax revenue from rising incomes and stock-market gains that the government actually was running record surpluses by the time Clinton left office.'''

https://www.factcheck.org/2007/12/clinton-and-economic-growth-in-the-90s/

George Rebane

Biguns 330pm - You really are a confused soul. No Republican is confused about the opposition to Trump, or how it was launched, and how it is maintained - no confusion whatsoever. Newsom has done and continues doing measurable damage to California - the latest is AB5 against which even some Dems have given voice.

And your fact checker is broken. Clinton's biggest/only? achievement was when he worked with Gingrich and the Repubs to lower the cost of government, which now every Dem is having him flying solo in that achievement.

Don Bessee

Why do all these trolls use the phrase what a hoot? Must be rhetoric majors.

DonB 655, I am the boy that used that phrase for years and then Pelline and his pals started using t. It is fun!
