[On the face of it I am not in favor of withdrawing US troops from Syria, especially viz the Kurds. My own long-stated Rebane Doctrine is that the US must continue its role as the world's white hat policeman (hegemon) using responses and methods that will evolve with needs and time. But before we continue hyper-ventilating on the withdrawal, can someone cite the exact parameters of Trump's withdrawal announcement - e.g. is it more than pulling a few tens of troops back from the 20-mile buffer zone? gjr]

The only 'spurious conjecture' here is that which J. Barron's original poser implies... that there are foreign born white felonious wife beating Veterans from 'white' countries that got away from ICE... because they were white.
There aren't many immigrants, legal or not, from places like Iceland in the US, and it would be a tiny subset of those who could be veterans and a tiny subset of those who could be felonious spousebeaters.
FYI I suspect (100 Quatloos worth) that "J. Barron" is Michael P. Anderson.

Daily Quotes
For the record: “2020 Democrats doubled down on their radical, socialist ideas that would bring our great American comeback to a halt. Their proposals would destroy millions of jobs, kick hundreds of millions off of their health care plans, increase government control over nearly every aspect of their lives — and it would all come at an astronomical cost to taxpayers.” —RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel
Political futures: “It is clear that Warren has supplanted Sanders as the leader of the progressive movement in the Democratic field. As a result, it will be difficult — if not impossible — for Sanders to reestablish himself ahead of Warren.” —Doug Schoen
From the Lack of Self-Awareness Department: “Democratic politicians seem to spend about half the day accusing President Trump of trashing vaguely defined Constitutional norms — and the other half explaining how they plan to trash enumerated Constitutional rights.” —James Freeman
Hyperventilating hyperbole: “There are states that have passed laws that will virtually prevent women from having access to reproductive health care. And it is not an exaggeration to say women will die. Poor women, women of color will die because these Republican legislatures in these various states who are out of touch with America are telling women what to do with their bodies.” —Sen. Kamala Harris
Socialist bloviating: “The truth is, we cannot afford to continue this level of income and wealth inequality, and we cannot afford a billionaire class whose greed and corruption has been at war with the working families of this country for 45 years. If you are asking me, ‘Do I think we should demand that the wealthy start paying — the wealthiest, the top 1% — start paying their fair share of taxes so we can create a nation and a government that works for all of us?’ yes, that’s exactly what I believe.” —Sen. Bernie Sanders (“I remember when Bernie Sanders used to believe billionaires AND millionaires shouldn’t exist. Why does he just attack billionaires now? Because he’s a multi-millionaire who made all of his money stealing from the American people.” —Charlie Kirk)
Non compos mentis: “I hate when people talk about black women being obese. I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn’t create. We are living in the Trump era. And look, those policies kill our people. You can’t get access to good health care, good insurance. … It’s literally that the racism that you’re experiencing and the struggle to make ends meet actually means the diet don’t [sic] work for you the same.” —Rutgers University professor Brittney Cooper
“So, just so we’re clear, you can say ‘my body, my choice’ when it comes to killing your baby, but I can’t say ‘my money, my choice’ when it comes to paying for it?” —Allie Beth Stuckey

Odd that non our beloved Lefties who frequent here have any desire to discuss last night’s 4th Democrat Debate.
I missed the exciting attention grabbing Dem candidates on parade due to no interest myself, but rumor has it that nary a question on Climate Change (our extinction) or immigration was brought up. I ain’t no rocket science neither a brain surgeon, but it appears to me that the Leftinistas are out of step with the majority of the American voters when it comes to third trimester abortions and open borders.
With the above laid bare for all to see, I did read two Pat Sajak tweets that summed up all the reporting pretty accurately.
1). With one minute left before the debate started, Sajak tweeted, “I’m all goose-bumpy waiting for it to start.”
2). Three minutes later and two minutes into the debate, Sajak followed with, “I’m done.”
Yep, some of us ain’t in to that masochistic stuff.

Here is some context for what the socialist dems are really up to with the faux impeachment -
Certainly not former Vice President Joseph R. Biden. If anything, Mr. Biden has been set ablaze atop the altar as a sacrifice in this massive international cover-up by Democrats.
The sleaze and dishonesty and self-dealing that oozes from the Biden name these days will leave a permanent stain on his nearly half-century political career.
“I don’t know. I don’t know,” said Hunter “The Leech” Biden, when asked whether he could have gotten a job making $50,000 a month from a Ukrainian gas company if his last name hadn’t been “Biden” at a time when his daddy was vice president of the United States.
“Probably not, in retrospect,” The Leech allowed. “But that’s — you know — I don’t think that there’s been a lot of things that would have happened in my life if my last name wasn’t Biden.”
Game. Set. Match.
That is all anybody needs to know about the Biden family and whether they were open for bribery in Ukraine or China or anywhere else in the world.
The key to understanding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s coup conspiracy against the president has nothing to do with Mr. Trump’s phone call with the president of Ukraine. Instead, it has everything to do with all the fake Russia nonsense they have been barking about for the past three years — but are suddenly very quiet about today.
When was the last time you heard any major Democratic persecutor in Congress utter the word “Russia”?
As Sherlock Holmes would say, it is the dog that DIDN’T bark. Which brings us to the “whom” that Democrats are sacrificing all in an effort to protect: former President Barack Obama.
Currently, there are a handful of very, very serious probes by nonpartisan prosecutors bound by rules of fairness and due process looking into the origins of the Obama administration’s spying operation on the campaign of a political opponent at the height of the 2016 election season.
This is and always has been the most gravely serious matter in the whole fake Russia “collusion” saga. People go to jail for doing things like this in America. And it’s not just former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper or ex-CIA Director John Brennan and dirty FBI agents like Peter Strzok who face devastating consequences if it can be proved they used their massive government powers in an effort to destroy a political opponent.
It could reach deep into the White House. It could reach the top.
This is why Mrs. Pelosi has dropped Russia and collusion and stopped talking about the Mueller report or all the fantasies laid out in the “dirty dossier” that Democrats paid foreign agents to dig up on Mr. Trump from Russian sources.
It is also why Mrs. Pelosi refuses to run the current impeachment “inquiry” with even a hint of due process or fairness. If the minority — or the executive branch — were afforded the fairness that attended past impeachments, Republicans would gain subpoena powers to call witnesses.
Do you think Republicans might like to question Mr. Brennan or Mr. Clapper under oath about who authorized espionage against political opponents during the height of a presidential campaign?
Of course they would. But Mrs. Pelosi will never let them get that close to Mr. Obama.
So … Ukraine! Joe Biden be damned.

Referring to Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer, he added, “And then to see the official policy undermined by this clownishly corrupt effort led by Rudy Giuliani on behalf of the president was just more than many people apparently could bear.”

How about a happy ending! Lawsuit against gun manufacturers tossed by Federal Judge with prejudice. So much for Judge shopping.
“WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) welcomes the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio Eastern Division’s dismissal with prejudice of the Primus Group v. Smith & Wesson, et. al. case. The decision was delivered Oct. 9, brushing aside the frivolous claims against several AR-15 firearms manufacturers, including Smith & Wesson, Remington Arms Company, Sig Sauer, Sturm, Ruger & Company, Colt’s Manufacturing and Armalite.
“This decision by the federal judge to dismiss with prejudice this frivolous case is pleasing, if not unexpected,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs and General Counsel. “These are lawful and federally-regulated AR-15 modern sporting rifle manufacturers that make semiautomatic rifles for lawful purposes. The judge was absolutely correct to assert that the proper venue to establish public firearms policy is through the legislature and not the courts.”

Public perception is everything when it comes to voting, and The Donald is neck deep in bad swamp quick mud. To illustrate this man's financial acumen, he got admitted to the bar in 1976 and entered politics in 1983. He continued practicing law while a Maryland legislator, no doubt managing to keep separate his private practice and public service finances until 1996 when he was elected to Congress to become a full time public servant. Coming from an intrinsically corrupt constituency, he clearly showed extraordinary character in not being swept up in the sleazy deals and payoffs that his colleagues in the both the Maryland and Congressional legislatures were involved. A self-made man if there ever was one.

More Trouble for Trump as described by Fox news legal analyst Napolitano. Trump is such a total idiot and thinks he's above the law.
"In the wake of acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney’s announcement this Thursday that next year’s G7 summit will be hosted at President Trump’s Doral golf club, Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano pointed out that Trump would be violating the emoluments clause if he were to go through with the move.
At the outset of the segment, Fox Business Network anchor Neil Cavuto said that the announcement is “effectively saying the president has given himself this contract.”
According to Napolitano, the Constitution “does not address profits, it addresses any present, as in a gift, any emolument as in cash of any kind whatever. I’m quoting the emoluments clause, from any king, prince or foreign state.”
“[Trump] has bought himself an enormous headache now with the choice of this,” he continued. “This is about as direct and profound a violation of the emoluments clause as one could create.”

Where did jiggered BOOB go? Read it and cry.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/10/17/democrat-controlled-house-passed-bill-with-quid-pro-quo-on-election-interference/
Trump was doing exactly that.
"In the House version, all “United States persons” are prohibited “from engaging in transactions with, providing financing for, or in any other way dealing in Russian sovereign debt” after a certain date. That prohibition is lifted after the DNI can certify, within a certain timeframe, that “neither the Government of Russia, nor any person acting as an agent of or on behalf of that government, has knowingly engaged in interference in the most recent election for Federal office”; and after “Congress has passed a joint resolution certifying the determination” of the DNI.
In other words, the Democrat-controlled House would suspend transactions — both public and private — with Russia’s government until the U.S. can be satisfied that Russia had not interfered with the most recent federal election.
That is exactly what Mulvaney said Trump had wanted Ukraine to show, as part of its commitment to fighting corruption — namely, that it was not involved in documented efforts by the Democratic National Committee to use Ukraine to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
Mulvaney said: “The look back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the things [President Trump] was worried about in corruption with that nation. That is absolutely appropriate.”
To Democrats and the media, it was a “quid pro quo” — and grounds for impeachment."

Well, many of us grew up believing politicians lie. It was a given. Probably heard it from our parents. Nothing new under the sun....until 2016, when only Trump lies! Odd. There IS something new under the Sun.
Daily Quotes time. Oh goody.
Insight: “Unjust laws exist: shall we be content to obey them, or shall we endeavor to amend them, and obey them until we have succeeded, or shall we transgress them at once?” —Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
The bottom line: “The chief problem is that the Kurds are our friends but not our legal allies. In contrast, the Turks are not really our friends anymore but are legal, treaty-bound allies.” —Victor Davis Hanson
For the record: “You’ve got millionaires arguing with millionaires over who hates the millionaires the most.” —Mike Rowe on the Democrat debate
Ouch: “You have a better chance of getting a fair justice system in China than you do in Speaker Pelosi’s movement here inside the House.” —House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy
Friendly fire: “[Elizabeth Warren] was more specific and forthcoming about the number of selfies she’s taken than about how [Medicare for All] is going to be funded.” —Pete Buttigieg in reference to Tuesday night’s debate
Hell hath frozen over: “Let’s put this in perspective: if you eliminate every single solitary soldier, tank, satellite, nuclear weapon, eliminate the Pentagon and it would only pay for 4 months of Medicare for All. 4 months. Where do the other 8 months come from? Your paycheck.” —Joe Biden
Good luck with that: “I think just as in any law that is not followed or flagrantly abused there have to be consequences or else there is no respect for the law. So in that case I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm and make sure that it is purchased, bought back, so that it cannot be potentially used against somebody else.” —Beto O'Rourke
Who needs free speech anyway? “[Trump] has lost his privileges and [his Twitter account] should be taken down…. [Social media outlets] are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation. And that has to stop.” —Sen. Kamala Harris
And last… “Kamala Harris owns a gun — but she doesn’t want you to own one. Bernie Sanders flies on private jets — but doesn’t want you to. Barack Obama is a multimillionaire — but doesn’t want you to be one. Elizabeth Warren picks her own doctors — but doesn’t want you to. See the pattern?” —Charlie Kirk

First it was Global Warming, then it became Climate Change. But, no more you ignorant hillbillies. It’s now Climate Crisis or Climate Emergency. Got that? Good. Next will probably be Climate Catastrophe, but I am getting ahead of the curve.
1.) “climate emergency” or “climate crisis” to be used instead of “climate change”
Climate change is no longer considered to accurately reflect the seriousness of the overall situation; use climate emergency or climate crisis instead to describe the broader impact of climate change. However, use climate breakdown or climate change or global heating when describing it specifically in a scientific or geophysical sense eg “Scientists say climate breakdown has led to an increase in the intensity of hurricanes”.
2.) “climate science denier” or “climate denier” to be used instead of “climate sceptic”
The OED defines a sceptic as “a seeker of the truth; an inquirer who has not yet arrived at definite conclusions”. Most “climate sceptics”, in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence, deny evidence, deny climate change is happening, or is caused by human activity, so ‘denier’ is more accurate.
3.) Use “global heating” not “global warming”
‘Global heating’ is more scientifically accurate. Greenhouse gases form an atmospheric blanket that stops the sun’s heat escaping back to space.
4.) “greenhouse gas emissions” is preferred to “carbon emissions” or “carbon dioxide emissions”. Although carbon emissions is not inaccurate, if we’re talking about all gases that warm the atmosphere, this term recognises all of the climate-damaging gases, including methane, nitrogen oxides, CFCs etc.
5.) Use “wildlife”, not “biodiversity”
We felt that ‘wildlife’ is a much more accessible word and is fair to use in many stories, and is a bit less clinical when talking about all the creatures with whom we share the planet.
6.) Use “fish populations” instead of “fish stocks”
This change emphasises that fish do not exist solely to be harvested by humans – they play a vital role in the natural health of the oceans.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/oct/16/guardian-language-changes-climate-environment
So, Gregory, Dr. Rebane, Russ, and others are no longer Climate Septics, but outright deniers!
Sorry Fish. Nobody cares if you are referred to as Fish populations or Fish stocks. I refer fish sticks. :).

Extinction Rebellion has been criticised for comparing activists who climbed onto London Tube trains to stop them from running, with civil rights activist Rosa Parks.
In a now-deleted tweet, the official Extinction Rebellion Twitter account wrote: “Rosa Parks refused to move from the white section of the bus and our rebels refused to bequeath a dying planet to future generations by failing to #ActNow.
Campaigners climbed to the top of a tube train at Canning Town station with a ladder before they unfurled a banner reading "Business as usual = death" before furious commuters dragged them to the platform floor.
Meanwhile, another group of activists glued themselves to a DLR train.
Twitter users condemned XR for making the Rosa Parks comparison during Black History Month and disrupting public transport and thus, alienating “ordinary people” trying to make their way into work.
Disruption as a form of protest: good. Targeting working class workers using a green form of transport: bad. Invoking Rosa Parks whilst ignoring critique of your very white and racist tactics and rhetoric: truly awful,” another said.
One person tweeted: “Sorry… are you equating a bunch of middle class white people intentionally disrupting public transport in predominantly poor, working class, ethnic areas to – checks notes – a woman who helped pioneer the civil rights movement so black people could be seen as human beings?”

The same could not said for the rating. Snaring 8.3 million viewers, the shindig hosted by CNN and the New York Times finished as the second least-watched debate of the Democratic cycle. Last night’s three-hour run on the Jeff Zucker-led outlet was down 22% from the last time CNN hosted a Dems debate, back on July 31 in what was Night 2 of a two-part event. In fact, the only debate to do worse than last night and its record number of candidates was the first night of the last CNN-aired debate on July 30. That Sanders- and Warren-led campfire of 10 contenders snagged 8.2 million viewers for the WarnerMedia-owned outlet.

Weak governments allow rampant crime and lawlessness and we are starting to see that flesh eating virus of leftist governance in our shit hole big cities.
This is what you will find down that road of corruption and rot -
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Heavily armed cartel fighters surrounded security forces and made them free one of drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman's sons, whose brief apprehension triggered intense gunbattles across the city of Culiacan.
Security Minister Alfonso Durazo said a patrol by National Guard militarized police first came under attack from within a house in the city, 600 km (370 miles) northwest of Mexico City.
After entering the house, they found four men including Ovidio Guzman, who is accused of drug trafficking in the United States.
The patrol was quickly overpowered by cartel gunmen, however, and the decision was taken to withdraw to protect the lives of the National Guard and restore calm in the city, where gangsters had set up roadblocks and were unleashing heavy automatic gunfire, Durazo said.

I see your Venezuela on the UN Human Rights Council and raise you one Mauritania. :)
“Mauritania, the west African nation where slavery remains a widespread practice, is expected to be voted on to the United Nations’ Human Rights Council on Thursday......
“While the Mauritanian government officially denies that slavery is ongoing in the country, Mauritanian watchdog groups allege that one out of every two members of the country’s Haratine ethnic minority group are enslaved, and that as many as 20% of the population is enslaved. The exact number of slaves within the country is unclear, and estimates range from 90,000 to 500,000. The Global Slavery Index estimates more than 140,000 people are currently enslaved in the country.
“The report singled out Mauritania for its history of corruption, ethnic discrimination by government actors, slavery, human trafficking, child labor, and criminalization of homosexuality. The country’s current president, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, was elected in June of this year despite reports of irregularities in the voting process. The country’s internet was shut down to quell protests that erupted after the elections.
“In addition to slavery, Mauritania is subject to a range of other human rights concerns. The United Nations estimates that over one third of Mauritanian women are married before they reach the age of 18, and female genital mutilation is commonplace. Sex outside of marriage is not legal in the country, and women who were raped can face prosecution if they report their assault to the
police.”

Time to bring back corporal punishment?
“A black high school security guard was fired after the school said he violated their zero-tolerance policy for using the N-word when he told a student not to call him the N-word.
“Marlon Anderson, a security assistant at Madison West High School in Wisconsin, said he got called a "bit@# @ss N----" by a student and responded do "not call me n----!" The school then fired him.”
——-
You think?? Nah, say it ain’t so.
“Gloria Reyes, the school board president, said the school board will "review our approach, the underlying policies, and examine them with a racial equity lens understanding that universal policies can often deepen inequities."
