Swamp creature de jour -

Hill was testifying in the seventh public hearing in the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment inquiry. As she had in her closed-door deposition last month, Hill said she was concerned about Ukraine’s security and stability as it defended itself against Russia. In that context, she — and others — were worried about a hold on security.

But Hill also had to admit that she co-authored an op-ed in 2015, when she was working at the left-wing Brookings Institution think tank, in which she opposed sending weapons to help Ukraine.

Man o man. Trump really stumbled into something big in Ukraine. Everyone in Ukraine knows that the US Embassy calls the shots and everybody in Ukraine knows that George Soros controls the US Embassy in Kiev. What did Trump stumble upon when he started looking at the corruption in Ukraine? Oh boy.

Four Ukrainians where begging to come forward and testify in the US about the corruption, but our State Department would not give them Visas. Adam Schiff has refused them to be called in his hearings. Deep State corruption. We paid the Ukraines who in turned paid Soros who in turn...

Funny, Vindman and Fiona Hill both retained the same American law firm that also represents Burisma. What are the odds.

Walt

So... What "O" actually did, Trump now gets blamed,, and a whole new "charge" all at the same time.
https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2019/11/21/pelosi-evidence-is-clear-trump-used-of-office-for-personal-gain-undermined-the-integrity-of-our-elections/
"Pelosi said, “[T]he evidence is clear that the president has used his office for his own personal gain, and in doing so, undermined the national security of the United States by withholding military assistance to the Ukraine, to the benefit of the Russians, that he has undermined the integrity of our elections by what he has done, again, the Russian interference being ignored by him. And third, he has violated his oath of office.”

Now you remember his little "I will have more flexibility after my re-election" to Russia.
So just who was blowing Putin?
Did the man-child "O" give one bullet to Ukraine?
Did not "O" "allow" Russia to invade Crimea? Nice way to treat our friends. And right after we suckered them into giving up their nukes. " SURE!!! WE will have your back against Russia.." We see how well that worked out with LIBS running the show.

But Trump is the bad guy. For giving Ukraine what they needed.

Burisma Founder Under Investigation For Embezzlement Of Over $30 Million

What’ happened between 2015 and 2016?

Dr. Fiona Hill told the impeachment inquiry Thursday that she was concerned that a hold on aid might endanger Ukraine’s security. But in a 2015 Washington Post op-ed, Hill argued against giving Ukraine any lethal weapons.

So the 'debunked' Ukraine interference was in fact a thing according to nevertrumper Hill. If you watched the usual suspect fakenews you would have never heard a word about it -

“Dr. Hill…you characterized the idea that Ukraine interfered in the election as a fictional narrative. Have you seen any evidence at all that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election?” he said.

Hill then produced two articles she was presented with during her closed-door deposition. One article was an op-ed in The Hill by then-Ukraine Ambassador to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly in August 2016, which was critical of then-candidate Donald Trump.

Rep. Himes interrupted her, read from the op-ed and asked her rhetorically, “Does that sound like election interference to you?”

She responded, “Well, I would say it’s probably not the most advisable thing to do for an ambassador because you never know who is going to win,” she said.

The other article she brought up was a Politico piece by journalist Kenneth Vogel that outlined efforts by a Democratic National Committee contractor Alexandra Chalupa to work with Ukrainian officials to distribute dirt on the Trump campaign.

“Kenneth Vogel is a very well-known, and as you pointed out, extremely good journalist,” she said. “I think it is extraordinarily important and gets to the issue here.”

“Mr. Vogel points out that the Ukrainian government, again, they wouldn’t have done very well at the bookies…they bet on the wrong horse — they bet on Hillary Clinton winning the election. And so, you know, they were trying to curry favor with the Clinton campaign — it’s quite evident here,” she continued.

Hill cited several Ukrainian officials in the article who were trying to collect information on Trump’s then-campaign manager Paul Manafort “and other people as well.”

Hill added that “many officials from many countries including Ukraine” also “bet on the wrong horse.”

“They believed that Secretary Clinton, former Sen. Clinton, former First Lady Clinton was going to win. Many said some pretty disparaging and hurtful things about him, and I can’t fault him for feeling aggrieved about them,” she added.

She remembers collecting remarks that world leaders had made about candidate Trump after she joined the administration, in advance of head of state visits.

“An awful lot of senior officials in many governments, including our allied government, said some pretty hurtful things about the president. And I would also personally take offense at some of the things that were said if I were the president.”

In spite of the left praying for a recession everyone else is feeling great so even with the drag of the left the index rocks! -

“In 30 of the past 35 months the Sentiment Index was 95.0 or higher, a level of optimism second only to when the Index was above 100.0 for 34 out of 36 months from January 1998 to December 2000, averaging 106.0,” Richard Curtin, the survey’s chief economist, said.

Expectations pushed up the index, reflecting confidence in future income gains all across the income distribution. Consumers’ assessment of current conditions dipped a bit but remains at an elevated level.

“Personal spending will be energized by record favorable evaluations by consumers of their personal financial situation, with gains expected across the entire income distribution, net increases in household wealth, the renewed appeal of price discounting, and reduced mortgage rates,” Curtin said.

So what about impeachment? It has not had a noticeable effect on the overall numbers but a partisan divide on expectations has sharpened.

“One side anticipates a recession, while the other side expects an uninterrupted expansion in the year ahead,” Curtin said.

The walls are closing in creepy grampa joe -

On Thursday, Graham -- the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee -- sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting the release of any documents related to contacts between Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

Graham’s letter, which was released as the final day of public hearings in the House impeachment inquiry into Trump wrapped up, asked Pompeo to release a series of documents and transcripts of conversations in 2016 between Biden and Poroshenko in relation to an investigation into the Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma Holdings.

Burisma – specifically, Hunter Biden’s role on the company’s board of directors – has become one of the main talking points from Trump and the Republicans amid the impeachment inquiry into the president.

In his interview with CNN, Biden said he is "quite frankly... angered" by Graham's move.

Even FOX is turning on Trump, Here's the latest from their legal guy and an RR favorite:

"Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano on Friday called the evidence of impeachable behavior by Donald Trump presented at the House hearings “overwhelming” — and enough to justify three or four articles of impeachment against the president.

Despite that, Napolitano said he “can’t imagine [Trump] will be removed from office” by the Republican-controlled Senate after a trial.

“The evidence of his impeachable behavior at this point, in my view, is overwhelming,” he said in an interview on the libertarian Reason TV. Napolitano also noted that Trump “hasn’t presented a defense, and I don’t know if he plans to.”

Fiona Hill. I have all her albums.

“With the help of the Establishment media, Clapper and CIA Director John Brennan, were able to pretend that the ICA had been approved by “all 17 intelligence agencies” (as first claimed by Clinton, with Rep. Jim Himes, D-CT, repeating that canard Thursday, alas “without objection).” Himes, too should do his homework. The bogus “all 17 intelligence agencies” claim lasted only a few months before Clapper decided to fess up. With striking naiveté, Clapper asserted that ICA preparers were “handpicked analysts” from only the FBI, CIA and NSA. The criteria Clapper et al. used are not hard to divine. In government as in industry, when you can handpick the analysts, you can handpick the conclusions.

Maybe a Problem After All

“According to several current and former intelligence officers who must remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the issue,” as the Times says when it prints made-up stuff, there were only two “handpicked analysts.” Clapper picked Brennan; and Brennan picked Clapper. That would help explain the grossly subpar quality of the ICA.

If U.S. Attorney John Durham is allowed to do his job probing the origins of Russiagate, and succeeds in getting access to the “handpicked analysts” — whether there were just two, or more — Hill’s faith in “our intelligence agencies,” may well be dented if not altogether shattered.”

Hurd was the lefts hope to break an R from the caucus and they failed and are pissed off -

“While I thought the intelligence committee would actually be engaged in oversight of the intelligence and national security communities, unfortunately we are not,” he said, continuing:

Over the past weeks, we have a few things. The officials on the July 25 call have many different opinions on whether the call was concerning or not, and just because Vice President Biden is running for president does not mean that corruption related to Burisma — Ukraine’s largest natural gas company — and Americans’ ties to it are not concerning.

There’s also a lot we don’t know. We have not heard from Rudy Giuliani, we haven’t heard from Hunter Biden. I’d like to know more about both of their activities. Why they talked to whom, and to whom.

Despite promises from Chairman Schiff, we have also not heard from the whistleblower — something that can occur in a closed setting without violating his or her anonymity. We need to understand the motivations and levels of coordination that happened prior to his or her complaint.

He also noted that U.S. support for Ukraine was actually strengthened under the Trump administration and Ukraine is receiving all the assistance it needs, and Ukraine is undertaking important corruption reform. He said:

The past few days and even today it’s been reiterated in 2017 the Trump administration made the decision to provide lethal defensive aid to Ukraine after the Obama administration refused to do so. Ukraine is receiving all the security assistance as directed by Congress, President Zelensky has undertaken significant anti-corruption efforts, including eliminating the parliamentary immunity from prosecution…Under President Zelensky’s leadership, we have finally seen some progress at ending the Russian occupation of Ukraine.

He said in conclusion:
“So where does this leave us? An impeachable offense should be compelling, overwhelmingly clear, and unambiguous, and it’s not something to be rushed or taken lightly. I’ve not heard evidence proving the president committed bribery or extortion,” he said.

BUSTED and DISGUSTED! -

Clinesmith resigned from the FBI two months ago following an interview with Horowitz’s team, The NYT reported. He was removed from the special counsel’s investigation in February 2018 after the OIG found text messages he wrote criticizing Trump.

An inspector general’s report released on June 14, 2018, found that an FBI lawyer identified as Clinesmith sent another FBI official a text message on Nov. 9, 2016 lamenting Trump’s election victory.

“I am so stressed about what I could have done differently,” Clinesmith wrote in the text.
Clinesmith also expressed concerns about Trump’s election win because of the lawyer’s role investigating the campaign.

“Plus, my god damned name is all over the legal documents investigating his staff,” wrote Clinesmith, who is referred to as “FBI Attorney 2” in the June 2018 report.

In a Nov. 22, 2016 text message discussion about Trump, Clinesmith wrote: “Viva le Resistance!”
A spokesman for the special counsel’s team downplayed Clinesmith’s role on the investigation when contacted last year by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The spokesman described Clinessmith as having an administrative role.

But the OIG report released last year described Clinesmith as the “primary FBI attorney” on the Trump-Russia investigation in early 2017.

Did Schiff for brains just guarantee a 2020 win for the prez, it sure looks that way -

Independents see impeachment as a continuation of the partisan bickering and media excess that began even before his inauguration. By massive margins, Independents say that the impeachment issue is “more important to politicians than it is to me” (62% to 22%) and “more important to the media than it is to me” (61% to 23%). It is hard to read this as anything but a warning to the Democratic leadership and candidates: Stop talking about issues that matter to you, not to me. Impeachment proceedings are viewed as bread and circuses for the anti-Trump crowd in Washington and the media—or, as Stanford political science professor Morris Fiorina described it to me, “entertainment and confirmation.” That’s a dangerous perception as Democrats approach one of the most consequential and fraught elections of our times.

“Those creative Dems on Team Schiff have again expanded the definition of ‘evidence’. The initial expansion qualified 'allegations' for inclusion. And from yesterday’s hearings we learned that ‘perceptions’ have now joined the ranks of culpable evidence. For those paying attention, ‘feelings’ are waiting in the wings, and are next to shoulder and again lighten the burdens of what we formerly knew as evidence.” Dr. Rebane

Reminds me, in a weird way, of a book I read when I was 17. The philosopher laid out all the dots, came to a river and concluded that the “blind leap of faith” was missing to reach the other side. The blind leap of faith was the bridge.

How can one read the phone call transcript and say Ukrainian corruption and Ukrainian interference in our 2016 election has nothing to do with the latest impeachment proceedings or say it was all about personal gain and disregard everything but personal gain? It’s easy for some.

General question? What happening to Giuliani?
He's been pretty quiet since his pals have been indicted by the Feds and he's been placed right in the middle of the Ukraine disaster for Trump. Remember, Trump has no friends and they will all sing when the time is right. Guiliani and Bolton are working on their tunes as we speak. Trumps outright lying about Bolton's Twitter account is triggering Bolton to speak out. Here's the best the Trump team can do to respond to Boltons accusations:

"While appearing on Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs Tonight on Friday, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said that “advanced age” might be the reason that former National Security Adviser John Bolton couldn’t access his Twitter account."

Oh great pony tail of ignorance, this is what he is up to -

Giuliani said that he wanted to "exculpate" his client.

"This is ridiculous. [The President] know what I did was order to defend the president -- not to dig up dirt on Biden. This goes back a year ago before Biden [had] even decided to run for president," he said.

"My thought when I began investigating this was to get evidence that will help my client prove that the charges against him aren't true," Giuliani said.

He predicted that "they're ultimately going to prove" that this was a conspiracy to frame the president in which high-level Democrats and White House staff participated.

Here's a good one from Giuliani talking about "insurance" against Trump. What do you think he's referring to other than singing?

"On the Fox News show America's Newsroom, host Ed Henry asked Giuliani about the status of his relationship with the president.

"Have you talked to President Trump in the last week or two? Have you met with him? Are you still his counsel?" Henry asked.

"I do not discuss my conversations with my client," Giuliani replied, talking over the host. "You can assume that I talk with him early and often and have a very, very good relationship with him, and all these comments—which are totally insulting—I mean, I've seen things written like he's gonna throw me under the bus."

"Right," Henry affirmed.

"When they say that, I say, 'He isn't, but I have insurance,'" Giuliani added.

Bill Tozer

Great read....kinda long for the uncritical thinkers.

The Empire Strikes Back

“But let’s drill down a bit. If we are to take the current “publicly voiced” cause at face value, then we may say that the entire Washington establishment, plus most of the country’s elites, are trying to remove the president from office on the basis of an anonymous individual’s private opinion of the content of one phone call he heard about second or possibly even thirdhand. A phone call, let’s remember, of which we have extensive notes that almost, but not quite, constitute a transcript—in other words, whose content everyone in the country can examine for himself.

That the “telcon” (national security geekspeak for what people are calling the “transcript”) does not support the “publicly voiced” cause is made plain by two facts. First, you can read it yourself and see that it doesn’t say what it is alleged to say. Second, if it did say what the president’s enemies want it to say, they could just quote it verbatim, which they never do, instead of deliberately mischaracterizing it, which they always do.“......

If this isn’t proof positive that the “deep state” is real, then what would be? Here we have an unelected cabal trying to take down the elected president, ostensibly over an issue that the American people have never voted on and don’t care about but which the “the U.S. government policy community” insists is so important that a democratic election must be overturned for its sake. Actually, to the extent that the American people have voted on this issue, in electing a man who very clearly promised to reduce American commitments abroad, they voted against the “U.S. government policy community consensus.”

Yet the “interagency” somehow believes that its decrees are democracy and that it’s somehow “undemocratic” to question them. This is how it’s possible for so many of Trump’s enemies to impugn him as an enemy of “democracy,” sanctify their patently undemocratic attempts to unseat him, and portray themselves as democracy’s saviors. As Christopher Caldwell put it recently in these pages, according to this understanding

democracy [is] a set of progressive outcomes that democracies tend to choose, and may even have chosen at some time in the past. If a progressive law or judicial ruling or executive order coincides with the “values” of experts, a kind of mystical ratification results, and the outcome is what the builders of the European Union call an acquis—something permanent, unassailable, and constitutional-seeming. [“What Is Populism?” Fall 2018]
Aid to Ukraine has been decided! Debate over! No more votes and no changes! That would be “undemocratic”!.....

Trump’s enemies’ answer to the last question is: because the president was asking a foreign government to investigate a political opponent for purely personal gain. Really? Is potential corruption by a former vice president—and potential future president—and his family a purely private matter, of no conceivable import or interest to the public affairs of the United States? That’s what you have to insist on to maintain that the request was improper. That’s the line we can expect the Democrat-CLM axis to flog, shamelessly and aggressively. But will a majority of Americans buy it? Especially since career officials at the Department of Justice already determined, and anti-Trump witnesses appearing before Representative Adam Schiff’s secret star chamber reluctantly conceded, that nothing Trump did or is alleged to have done was technically, you know, illegal.

It probably right up there with the overwhelming evidence that was in plain sight that Trump was colluding with Russia that Schiffty claimed to have.

Re: Nov19 update] The Left’s assault on education and America’s public schools...including charter schools.

“Several months ago, Wilson was placed on leave and then fired by Ascend’s board because of a blog post he wrote in which he criticized the excesses of modern progressive pedagogy. Wilson’s post was perceptive and thoughtful, and it should have been welcomed by Ascend’s board. But as part of his insistence that educational rigor must not be seen as a “white” thing, it took what McWhorter terms “a swipe at identity-obsessed activists.” An Internet petition sprung up alleging, bizarrely, that Wilson had somehow employed “white supremacist rhetoric.” The board caved, firing Wilson. And even as Wilson’s plight caused much private angst among school reformers, the charter-school community’s collective silence was striking.

Wilson is now out, while an industry of “diversity trainers” has emerged to enforce the new orthodoxy in schools across the land. Indeed, K–12 education is today awash in pricey “reform-minded” propaganda sessions undertaken in the euphemistic name of “professional development.” Speakers are telling teachers: “If you are under the impression that there are good white people and bad white people, you’re wrong, because racial biases are universal and incurable.”
.....
“It’s time for some Churchillian courage on the part of those committed to reviving American education. There is now a loud, punitive-minded cohort of “reformers” who honestly believe that data is a tool of white oppression and that leaders who champion academic rigor should be fired as bigots. The many of us who abhor their nihilistic doctrine — and believe that improving our children’s schools is far too serious a cause to be undone by their shenanigans — must stand up and be counted.”

After the Left’s War on Public Education, then comes the War on Higher Education.

How America’s Students Need to Get ‘Woke’. VDH

“If students were really “woke” to the abject exploitation in their own landscapes, they would march on the president’s office to protest the lack of transparency in student loaning, the bureaucratic fat that does not contribute to learning or academic excellence, and the disparity between helot part-time lecturers and full-professor overlords. They would demand to know how much they are paying for each class, for office hours, for much on campus that ultimately is leveraged by their own government guaranteed student debt that will be an albatross around their collective necks into their thirties.

Viewed through these lenses, the progressive campus project is a mere veneer. It is a scab of sorts, overlaying a wound beneath of progressive exploitation and class privileges and hierarchies of the exploiters and exploited.

The results spill over from campus and are deleterious for the entire nation, ranging from prolonging adolescence and infantilizing young adulthood, delaying marriage, child-rearing, and home ownership to radicalizing the Democratic Party to the point of near irrelevance—not to mention the cost of defaulted government loans. Many of those indebted who actually graduate will gravitate into low-paying jobs. And the professors and administrators who damned capitalism to them will be doing the same to each successive generation of naïfs, but always play-acting as radical mentors from tenured and six-figure salary billets.

In sum, today’s students are the most unaware, naïve—and unwoke—generation in our nation’s history. They pose as all-knowing and all-caring. But in the end, they are proving unwoken to the full dimensions of those who have channeled them into a decade or more of crushing debt, left them with unmarketable degrees, nourished both their ignorance of the world, past and present, and their political arrogance—and called it all success.”
