Daily Quotes and Affirmations

Political futures: “Here’s what we do know. First, no president since World War II has failed to be reelected when the unemployment rate was below 7.4 percent. Second, the unemployment rate in November 2020 is almost certain to be well below 7.4 percent.” —Paul Mirengoff

A Republic — if you can keep it: “We are exactly where the Framers hoped we would never be when they added the impeachment clauses to the Constitution: in a governing system in which impeachment has been trivialized into a partisan weapon for straitjacketing the incumbent administration, rather than being reserved as a nuclear option for misconduct so egregious that Congress must act, transcending partisan, factional, or ideological considerations.” —Andrew McCarthy

For the record: “The two articles of impeachment [have] no basis in the Constitution. They were a reflection of the comparative voting power of the two parties, precisely what one of the founders, Alexander Hamilton, warned would be the ‘greatest danger’ of an impeachment.” —Alan Dershowitz

What’s your definition of “full and fair”? “To engage a trial without the facts coming out is to engage in a coverup. To conduct a trial without the facts is saying, ‘We’re afraid. We have something to hide.’ To conduct a trial without relevant witnesses who haven’t been heard from, to just rehash the evidence presented in the House, just doesn’t make any sense. If Leader McConnell doesn’t hold a full and fair trial, the American people will rightly ask, ‘What are you, Leader McConnell, and what is President Trump hiding?’” —Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer

A blast from the past: “[Republicans] know that these allegations do not meet the test of the Constitution. They know that there are not impeachable offenses, but they pressed forward because it is really a coup d'état where … they are trying to do with this impeachment what they were unable to do at the ballot box.” —Rep. Maxine Waters during Bill Clinton’s impeachment ordeal — except that Clinton actually committed impeachable offenses

Braying jackass I: “I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything.” —Barack Obama, who prevented Hillary Clinton from winning in 2008

Braying jackass II: “If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.” —Barack Obama, who seems to be working to prevent Joe Biden from winning in 2020

Non sequitur: “The US needs to become an advanced society. That includes establishing healthcare as a right to all people.” —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who seems to think “rights” are things other people are forced to provide you

And last… “Democrats continue to make the case that if Trump isn’t impeached, he’ll steal the election of 2020. How isn’t that a statement of deep concern over their 2020 candidates?” —Ben Shapiro

For your reading pleasure... Pressure mounting to allow testimony from Trump aides.

"Roughly 7 in 10 Americans said in a new poll that President Trump should allow top administration aides to testify in a Senate impeachment trial.

The survey, conducted by ABC News and The Washington Post, found that 71 percent of respondents said Trump should allow his aides to testify while 22 percent disagreed.

Almost 8 in 10 Democrats — 79 percent — said that Trump should allow aides to testify in a Senate trial, compared to 72 percent of independents and 64 percent of Republicans.

The new poll also found that 62 percent of Americans expect Trump to have a fair trial in the Senate. Sixty-one percent of Republicans, 62 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of independents agreed.

Several Trump administration aides and officials have defied subpoenas for documents and testimony throughout the ongoing impeachment inquiry, which House Democrats launched against Trump earlier this year."

Rep. Doug LaMalfa
17 mins ·
Today I voted in favor of a government funding package that makes a significant down payment on border wall construction, invests in building more water infrastructure - specifically Sites Reservoir - and eliminates ill-conceived taxes on medical devices. While I’m not happy with the overall spending level of the bill, there is more good than bad in this package of bills.
Importantly for Northern California, this package includes additional benefits to Camp and Carr Fire disaster areas through additional low income housing tax credits as well as extending several important tax benefits. It also fully funds Secure Rural Schools and Payment- In-Lieu of Taxes (PILT) that our rural counties need in order to provide for transportation and law enforcement.
Domestic, International and Tax Extenders (H.R. 1865)
Funding Highlights:
-Provides $134 million in new funding for WIIN Act water storage projects, specifically including Sites Reservoir
-Payment in Lieu of Taxes fully funded through FY20
-Fully funds Secure Rural Schools for FY20, and backfills funding for FY19
-Permanently repeals Obamacare taxes on medical devices, health insurers, and high-quality health insurance plans
-Increases funding for apprenticeship programs to $175 million
-Fully funds community care programs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, including an additional appropriation of $1.5 billion for the creation of an electronic health record system that can be used in tandem with the Department of Defense
-$2.8 billion for Alzheimer’s disease research at the National Institutes of Health
-Funds the Trump Administration’s childhood cancer initiative at $50 million
-Provides additional Low-Income Housing Tax Credits for the Carr and Camp Fire, and all areas affected by the 2017 and 2018 California wildfires
-Extends several tax benefits to the areas devastated by disasters in 2018 and 2019
Policy Provisions:
Hyde Amendment, Weldon Amendment, and embryo research prohibitions maintained
Prohibits commercial consumption of horse meat
Blocks Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions provisions against Israel
National Security (H.R. 1159)
Funding Highlights:
-Fully funds the defense programs passed by the House last week, including $738 billion in defense programs, a 3.1% pay raise for our troops, and the establishment of Space Force
-Provides $1.4 billion for the border wall, and other infrastructure needed to get control of our borders
-$50 million for the Defense Community Infrastructure Program that could be used to assist communities surrounding military facilities, like Sierra Army Depot

Walt @ 6:04 pm

Spot on. Now the Dems are crying foul because they don’t get to write the rules in the Senate. Have they forgotten so quickly that impeachment is a political process, not a criminal proceeding, lol.

They demand “fairness”, yet when they are in the majority, they withhold “fairness” and tell the minority to go pound sand. They are a tyrannical bunch and now beg that the Republicans do not do to them that which they are currently doing to the minority. Strike that. They are so arrogant they demand that the R’s follow their rules in the Senate and that the Dems get to write the rules which the majority must follow, ROFLMAO.

Bet your last dollar that when Trump is acquired in the Senate, the Dems will cry “unfair, unfair!” all the way to the voting booth in Nov. 2020. Then they will cry unfair again.
——-
“The Senate Democrats mantra can be summed up in a comment by Chuck Schumer. He said:”To engage in a trial without the facts coming out is to engage in a cover-up.”

“This statement can be turned around as follows: “To impeach a president before the facts have come out is a disgrace........

“Thus, Senate Democrats undercut the House Dems and their primary impeachment article by moaning that they need more facts. What they want is a smoking gun, something that might turn public opinion around. (They wouldn’t get it from the witnesses they want to have testify at trial or from Mueller grand jury testimony).

Mitch McConnell dismissed the whining of Schumer and other Senate Democrats with this comment: “The Senate is meant to act as judge and jury, to hear a trial, not to re-run the entire fact-finding investigation because angry partisans rush sloppily through it.”

Those old, angry liberals who run the fakenews are getting good at pissing off the public -

YouTube's top creator PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, is criticizing media coverage that misrepresented his announcement that he'd be taking a short break from posting videos in early 2020.

Multiple outlets ran headlines that said 30-year-old Kjellberg was quitting YouTube, distorting the nature of his announcement and his audience's reaction in the process.

Indie YouTube journalist Josh Pescatore, who runs the Pescatore News Network, told Insider that the coverage damages the credibility of the mainstream media to Kjellberg's massive, young fanbase.

Other YouTubers like Philip DeFranco, who is known for explaining YouTuber news, characterized the coverage as a credibility "crisis," and noted that bringing up Kjellberg's past controversies in unrelated articles comes across as "biased and predatory."

Felix Kjellberg, the 30-year-old known online as PewDiePie, used his humorous "Pew News" video on Tuesday to criticize some of the coverage he has received this week in mainstream media.

Specifically, he questioned the outlets that ran stories about him "quitting" YouTube, when he really just made a quick announcement that he would be taking a short break from his daily uploading cycle in early 2020.

"That's all I said, early next year I'll be away for a little while," Kjellberg said in his video. "I never said I'm quitting. [...] I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. And then out of all people, news media blows it up."

The outlets Kjellberg highlighted as publishing "fake news" about his break included CNN, the Daily Mail, and Mirror. He criticized CNN specifically for tying in his past controversies, described as "allegations of racism and anti-Semitism," which Kjellberg suggested made it sound like he was quitting because he was racist.

Kjellberg also blamed the framing on "boomers" who were angry that he amassed a $25 million net worth from making YouTube videos, and said none of his fans were "heartbroken" over the news because "they understand it's normal to take a break."

Man those discrimination laws suck don't they girls? -

This lack of official paperwork garnered the attention of the New York City Commission on Human Rights in 2018, which opened an investigation into the company. The Wing’s large membership — more than 11,000 worldwide, according to reps — meant it couldn’t pass as a “social club,” and therefore can’t discriminate based on gender.

Phillips says that she thinks the problem is new members — who may not be as familiar with the original purpose of the space — bringing in men as their guests.

“I think they’re just losers,” she says of the male plus-ones. “Or cucked boyfriends. It’s a legal fluke.”

Up until about a year or so ago, when the space was truly a women-only sanctuary, members said they could comfortably walk around braless in a robe after a shower. Now, they say, they’re constantly looking over their shoulders wondering who the loud dude is chewing his lunch.
Numerous California members tell The Post that the phenomenon is getting out of hand.

“It’s just annoying,” says Caitlin White, a 31-year-old West Hollywood member who sees at least one man working in the space each day. “Why do men need to be there? Why can’t they respect the spirit of the place? Men have to have everything.”

The San Francisco location, numerous members tell The Post, “is really bad — like, filled with tech bros.”

“I usually see about five men coming in throughout the day,” says a 31-year-old San Francisco member who asked to remain anonymous. “I think it’s members bringing in men for investor meetings."

According to its web site, the Wing is a “growing community of women” who gather to “work, connect, and thrive.”

When she first joined, she says, she made the mistake of bringing in her cis male boss for a meeting, something that she now regrets.

“I’ll never do that again,” she says. “He didn’t respect the space, acting like we were in a coffee shop or something. I was getting looks from other members.”

In New York, of course, the stares are no less subtle.
“I glare at the men and I glare at the members who bring them,” says the anonymous New York member.

Insert 0 instead of Blair before thanksgiving 2020, same story. I would expect they will put on a better show than antifa London -

At a private meeting of its surviving members of parliament on Tuesday evening, leader Jeremy Corbyn was heavily criticized for leading the party to its worst result since 1935. According to his office, he told them he was “very sorry” but that the election was “ultimately about Brexit.”

Blair, now the only person to lead Labour to an election victory in 45 years, will tell an audience in central London that the party cannot simply carry on with Corbyn’s policies under a new leader. “Labour needs not just a different driver, but a different bus,” he’ll say, according to advance extracts.

Tuesday night’s meeting lasted more than two hours. One of the MPs present, Margaret Hodge, described the mood. “It was fury, despair, miserable,” she told reporters. She described Corbyn’s position as “denial and corporate amnesia.”

How A Satirist Hoaxed The ‘Woke’ Mainstream Media

“It doesn’t actually matter” if Titania wrote the letter or not, Doyle argued. “The point is that a major publication is happy to publish any old nonsense so long as it is sufficiently ‘woke.’ The social justice ideology has infected our mainstream media and irrevocably degraded its standards. That’s what theses hoaxes reveal.”

“What has happened to our media?” Doyle continued. “Why is a respected national newspaper publishing drivel by a writer that no one has ever heard of because it’s pushing a ‘woke’ agenda? What does that tell us?”

Castaneda 859am - You miss the point again. No one has claimed that Hunter did anything wrong or criminal - his board seat was obvious evidence of Burisma trying to get something for hiring a Biden. And assuming that those Ukrainians weren't double dummies, it makes sense for Rudy to continue poking around what ol' Joe was up to besides his already bragging about having Burisma's prosecutor fired. Remember, Obama put Joe in charge Ukrainian affairs.

Bill Tozer

This ruling by a NY judge seems correct. Double jeopardy and all that stuff. Justice must be blind, no matter who the defendant is.

Republicans Have Added 600,000 More Donors, $10 Million During Impeachment

“The Republican National Committee’s (RNC) deputy chief of staff, Mike Reed, told Axios that “voters are consistently expressing how they want Washington to focus on real issues,” claiming that more than 600,000 new voters have been added since impeachment began.

And in the past week, the Trump campaign and RNC took in a combined $10 million in small-dollar donations as the House Judiciary Committee passed two articles of impeachment, the report said, which added that that in late September, in the three days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced the initial impeachment inquiry into Trump, about $15 million was raised.

****Money quote*** An official also said that about a quarter of Trump rally registrants are self-described Democrats or independents since the inquiry started.”

The most interesting part of the article is a new term - “ultra-hazardous product”! Merely 'hazardous' just won't cut it anymore.
Best quote - “If you have a product that can harm people – you’re obligated to fix that,” said Ruby. “And we know these guns have caused widespread harm over the years – and will continue to do so.”
So-
Sell fire arms with no bore in the barrel?
But wait - You could still pistol-whip or use the rifle butt to club someone. Make all fire arms out of foam rubber? What about knives, motor vehicles, axes, chainsaws, hammers, baseball bats, hockey sticks?
Don't forget human hands...
Well - I guess they wouldn't be considered a 'commercial' product.
Now about all those sticks and rocks out in the woods...
If you wave enough money in front of a human, they'll talk themselves into all sorts of nonsense.

Castaneda

,,,George,,,who is paying Rudy's expenses,,,

and,,,doesn't it make sense for Demos to wonder why Rudy's goon associate also got paid a million bucks

and,,, Doesn't it make sense for Demos to keep poking around in Ukraine to find out why Rudy had Trump fire Yovanovitch???

and,,, Why Trump won't let Pompeo, Pence, Mulvaney et al. testify,,,

and,,, Why Magoo McConnell does not plan to call any witnesses in the upcoming trial of the century when all the Conservos did during the House hearings whine and wail about not being able to call witnesses,,,

and,,, When the Conservos were asked which witnesses they wanted to testify they only wanted to interrogate Schiff ???

Scott O

Paul 9:30 - "What we had was good old fashioned Nepotism..."
Could some one in Nevada County send over an English Dictionary to KVMR?
No Paul - that's not 'nepotism'.
It's called 'buying access'.
Or good ol' 'payola'.
Why would a foreign company (under criminal investigation) want to pay the son of the VPOTUS that kind of money when said son has no value to the company other than being the son of the VPOTUS?

Is it illegal? Probably not if Saint Obama was involved in any way. Is it worth thinking about when you vote. Of course.

Happy to clear it up.

I just thought of an exception. I can see where Baby Biden may well have violated a bunch of Ukrainian law.

I wonder what the extradition situation is between the US and UKR.

Honestly, if you wanted to go after Crazy Uncle Joe, the Senator from Delaware (a famous corporate haven) was bound to be up to his eyeballs in sketchy doings aside from looking out for the fruit of his loins.

The thought that Trump is uniquely corrupt enough, and you know that any big deal property developer has had to pass around envelopes of cash, to deserve astroturf sign wielding harpies in Brunswick Basic is laughable.

Whether it's more moral to pay bribes vs. receiving them is a matter for everyone to decide for themselves.

Todd Juvinall

PAUL EMERY is there a law that allows a sitting Vice President who is tasked by the President to oversee our policies in another country while his son is hired by a corrupt and under investigation company in that same country? And then tell that country to fire the prosecutor of that company his son is on the board of?

Todd Juvinall

Looks good for the President today. Impeachment in the polls down 7 points. Approval of the Prez at 50-50.

Well, Rudy better come up with the goods on corruption in Ukraine or he will look like a fool. Senator Graham said Rudy can present his findings to his committee after the impeachment trial.
We have given Ukraine a billion dollars a year for three straight years and a good hunk of that disappeared.

What Rudy claims remains to be confirmed. He says he has e-mails that prove fired Ambassador lied in the Schifflipps hearings, evidence of money laundering, etc. There is quite a few politician's sons who have business relations with Ukraine, including Biden, John Kerry, Mitt Romney to name a few. Does Pelosi have any sons? :)

John Solomon is indeed a good reporter and in his humility is the first to say he is not a lawyer. “Here is what I found, here are the documents and e-mails and sworn depositions (with supporting documents) and make what you will of it.

WHAT do we know so far? A Ukrainian oligarch had his home raided by the anti-corruption division of the Prosecutor General. That oligarch owns Burisma and the bank. A billion or so done gone missing. A great mystery. The raid was a week or two before Biden’s infamous visit, giving the near insolvent Ukrainian government 6 hours to fire the Prosecutor General or no US aid or money to keep the government afloat. During the time between the raid and Biden’s visit, Burisma’s US lawyers e-mailed the State Department for help, using Hunter Biden’s name. That is not a crime in and of itself. It’s called lobbying and access.

We do know some funny things were happening in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington and the US Embassy in Kiev. Like refusing to issue visas to whistleblowers in Ukraine to come to the US and talk to government agencies.

Lost in all this is the Inspector General was investigating a George Soros funded group in Ukraine ironically called The Anti-Corruption Group or something like that. The State Department raised the flag on USAID, the State Department’s funding mechanism to groups in Ukraine (like Soros) which was frozen by US hold over bureaucrats from the Obama Administration. That came out in the Schifflips hearings.

Bring in the clowns

Castaneda 942am - You must be desperately trying to make some points. Why don't you take them one at a time and make your point, then readers can see if you're really connecting some meaningful dots or just continuing to flail.

What poll are you referring to Todd?

re "Impeachment in the polls down 7 points."

you write " Approval of the Prez at 50-50."

Yes that's the Rasmussen poll and the only that shows Trump even. The RCP consensus poll shows Trump down by 7.5

So were the NYT and WAPO willfully complicant in spreading chi com propaganda against the interests of our country? -

China routinely broke federal law by not disclosing how much it spent to publish regime propaganda in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other newspapers, an expert review of foreign agent registration filings concluded.

China Daily, an official mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, has published hundreds of propaganda articles designed to look like ordinary news stories in some of America's most influential newspapers. While foreign agents may place ads in the United States, the propaganda outlet has repeatedly violated the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) by failing to provide full disclosures about its purchases.

China Daily has published propaganda in mainstream outlets for decades, but did not disclose its purchases of space in American newspapers to the Department of Justice until 2012. Even after it began acknowledging its relationship with the papers, the regime mouthpiece continued to violate federal disclosure requirements. China Daily has failed to provide breakdowns of spending activities and withheld copies of online ads, among other omissions that violate federal law, according to experts who reviewed years of its FARA filings.

Daily Quotes

Upright: “Journalists cannot serve two masters. To the extent that they take on the task of suppressing information or biting their tongue for the sake of some political agenda, they are betraying the trust of the public and corrupting their own profession.” —Thomas Sowell

Observations: “We arrive at Impeachment Day, the day everyone who has always opposed the President and wanted him impeached finally impeach without having persuaded anyone else and then decided all those people are racists. Instead of persuading, they ran a campaign of shame and yelling louder.” —Erick Erickson

For the record: “Do we know enough, have we learned enough after listening to all this that we want to vote on the two very weak articles of impeachment? Or, do we want to have a show trial in which both sides try to embarrass the other and put on an embarrassing scene, frankly, for the American people? … Obviously, I think we’ve heard enough. And, after we’ve heard the arguments we ought to vote and move on… We know how it’s going to end. The president is not going to be removed from office.” —Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

Demo-gogues: “Anyone in America watching this would draw the same logical conclusion — that the president has something to hide and Republican senators, too many of them, are intent in helping him hide it. It appears Leader McConnell … has already made up his mind about the Senate impeachment trial. It’s clear that Senator McConnell wants to use the Senate to help participate in a coverup.” —Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer

A blast from the past I: “What began 25 years ago with Watergate as a solemn and necessary process to force the president to adhere to the rule of law has grown beyond our control, so that now we are routinely using criminal accusations and scandal to win the political battles and ideological differences we cannot settle at the ballot box.” —Chuck Schumer during Bill Clinton’s impeachment ordeal — except that Clinton actually committed impeachable offenses

A blast from the past II: “There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment supported by one of our major political parties and opposed by the other.” —Rep. Jerry Nadler exactly 21 years ago

And last… “Election tampering is treasonous sedition, unless done by Democrats impeaching a GOP president over hurt feelings with 3.5% unemployment months before the citizenry votes.” —Twitter satirist @hale_razor
